Recom! Miles Quaritch X Fem! Reader (smut)
Tumblr media
A/N: Hey, guys! I'm back from hiatus, sorry, I've been gone for so long. I got this idea while listening to one of my favorite nsfw asmr creators (feelgoodfilth, please go check him out y’all). Love you all, thanks for reading!

“Colonel Quaritch?”
“Hm, yeah?”
The woman walked into the small waiting room, taking only a few steps while clutching a clipboard to her chest.
“I’m ready to run your tests. Would you follow me to the back office?” Her lips pressed into an awkward line, the pissed look on Quaritch’s face telling her that he wasn’t in the mood for a smile.
He stood up, head leaning down uncomfortably in the room. The ceilings got a bit higher when they turned the corner to her office, allowing him to reach closer to his full height. An examining table sat in the middle of the office, and an overhead light stood above it.
“Do I–?” Miles’ hand loosely pointed over to the table.
“Oh, yes, please. Careful of the light, Colonel.” The woman took her seat on a spinning chair, scooting it toward the table with her wheels. “Careful– careful now,” she said, holding her arms out as he roughly sat on the table, trying to protect his large body, as if catching him would have done any good.
He snorted, lip pulling into a bored, fixed snarl. “Yeah, so sorry, miss,” he said, voice anything but apologetic.
She gave a small nod, eyeing her papers clipped to her board, scanning over them quickly.
“Ah– no matter. So, Colonel Quaritch, I have to run a few simple tests and check-ups before we start the extraction process. Please, hold still.”
Extraction.
“Lord, this damn thing couldn’t take any longer, could it? Fucking Christ,” he snapped, patience thinning by the minute.
The RDA just wanted to piss him off at this point, he thought. The whole situation left a bad taste in his mouth, from start to finish. Creating recoms with lab grown Na’vi bodies was getting too expensive, so this was the alternative. Why make them from the government and taxpayers’ money when they had all they really needed: a few female recoms, a few male recoms and a way for them to mix.
“I know, I’m sorry– I know this can’t be pleasant for you,” she said. She was trying to be as sympathetic as possible, but it wasn’t a great process for her to deal with either, especially when the medical wing was understaffed.
“You have no idea, girl.” Miles groaned impatiently and spread his legs out, trying to work out the stress and kinks from his joints. “Can we just get this over with?”
The nurse nodded and scrambled over to her desk, pulling out an otoscope. She ushered him to lower his head to her level, having already pumped her chair up to its maximum height. “Hey, hey, hold still,” she inserted the tool, holding his blue ear to stop it from flicking as she looked through the lens. “Okay, all good.”
“What’s even the point of this? Can’t I just jizz in a fucking cup and leave?” He took a deep breath and his nose twitched in irritation.
“That– that comes later,” she said, face warm at his vulgar language, “just a few more tests, I promise. Now,” she pointed at her mouth, “open up, I need to take a look at your teeth.”
“What? Why?” Miles drew his eyebrows together, looking her up and down.
“I’ve got to make sure your teeth are healthy, and strong before we pass your DNA down to our other soldiers,” she said while still pointing her fingers at her mouth. “C’mon, show me that handsome smile, eh, Colonel?”
A sigh escaped his muscled chest, stripes seemingly shaking as he breathed.
“Fine.”
She brought a small light to his mouth, lifting her head up high to see all of his teeth. They were sharp and barred at her, shining in the reflection of her light.
A few other meaningless tests were performed, each draining Quaritch of his patience more and more. If he had to do one more fucking thing, he was going to—!
“Here you are. Now just take this and, uhm, you know,” she said, passing him a sterile cup to fill. “Fill it to the top, if you can.”
She looked away and started to turn to her desk before she heard a zipper. Her head snapped over to the table to see Miles removing his heavy cock from his cargos, giving it lazy pumps.
“No, there’s– there’s a bathroom for that…!”
“It’ll take like two seconds,” he muttered through gritted teeth, “not leaving just to blow a load.”
She barely heard his response as she watched. She was too busy feeling her grip on the corner of her chair tighten, eyes hooked on the sight of his pretty, blue cock growing in his fist.
“I, uhm, I think,” she paused, still watching as her voice trailed off.
“Huh? You think what?” He looked at her, smirking at her knuckles going white as she held onto the chair. “I think, little miss, that you want to come help me with this. Am I right?”
“That’s not professional,” she coughed out, turning her head away from him, arms going up to cover her chest.
“Oh, come on. Don’t you want to help a patient in need? Don’t leave me here to suffer,” Quaritch teased, feeling his impatience being replaced by smugness.
She bit her lip, eyes squinting as she thought.
“Oh, nurse,” he called, voice smothered with satisfaction, “I need your help.” He let go of his dick, feeling it spring back to hit his clothed abdomen. A string of precum stuck to his shirt as his cock twitched.
She walked over to him, pushing the wheeled chair to the corner of the room and out of her way. Taking his cock into her hand, she looked up to meet his blown, amber eyes. “Just to help? T-to hurry the process, right?”
“Mhm,” he hummed, “but, I wouldn’t mind if you took your time.”
Giving a few, testing strokes, she held as much of his cock that she could manage in her small fist. She went slow, from tip to base. Miles shuttered a bit, hips threatening to snap up into her hand.
“You’re a little fuckin’ tease, aren’t you? Gonna– fuck,” he clenched his jaw, “gonna actually take your time, huh? Ain’t know you’d listen t’me.”
Taking her other hand, she takes her fingers and traces around his tip, collecting the slick and rubbing it in. She felt it kick in her hands, and gave it a sharp squeeze.
“God, just– let go, c’mon.”
She let go quickly. “Did I do something wrong? I didn’t mean to!”
Quaritch took a breath through his nose and patted his lap. “Come here, come on. That’s right.”
She sat, facing him. Her blue scrubs made euphoric friction against his cock, gliding across the length as she got comfortable.
“I’ve gotten a taste of you, darlin’,” he started, “I won’t be able to hold back. Can’t cum inside that fuckin’ cup.”
“What do you mean?” She asked, mouth parting slightly as she felt his hands reach under her shirt. “Colonel?”
“Ain’t no point in growing another recom in a lab with my DNA,” he started, leaning to her neck, letting the warmth of his breath hit the exposed skin, “when I could put my DNA inside of you. Gonna let me breed you? Huh?”
He held onto the swell of her breast under the shirt, running a thumb over her hard nipple.
“Gonna let me fuck a hybrid into you?”
Her mouth hung open for a second, unanswering. “Colonel….”
“Answer me, missy. Gonna do it? Let me fill you up with a fuckin’ alien baby.”
A slow nod was all he needed to see. In a swift movement, she felt her body turned and pushed, her back on the table.
“Careful, please,” she mumbled, lips raw from her chewing them nervously.
“No time for ‘careful,’ honey, I gotta take you nice and rough.” Quaritch pulled her pants and panties down, balling the fabric up and tossing them into a corner in the office. He brought his fingers to her cunt, collecting the slick leaking from her hole. “Worked up, huh?”
He placed one hand over her thigh, pulling her legs apart. She instinctively tried to close them back, unsuccessfully.
“Keep ‘em open, I need to get you prepped for me.” He took one finger and rocked it into her, reaching to the far back of her walls. “All this talk got you wet already,” he said, feeling his finger slip in and out with ease.
“Wait, I’m close, really close,” she said, legs starting to shake.
A  dry chuckle left Quaritch’s mouth. “Yeah? I won’t stop you. Cum.” His fingers curled into the gummy spot in her, abusing the sensitive area. A soft clenching trapped the digit, tightening over him for a few moments. “There, there you go.”
“Thank you, yes– fuck!”
Tumblr media
“One load ain’t enough for you, huh?” His eyes were completely blown and lust-filled. “God– your greedy little cunt, milkin’ me dry.”
“Please, one more time– one more. Want your babies so bad!” she moaned, voice completely punched out. Her whines were breathless, and broken.
Quaritch gave a soft hum as he continued at the same pace, slotting his hips between hers roughly. The squelches of her messy, wet cunt filled his ears and egged him on further. Dribbles of his cum from earlier dripped out of her with each of his thrusts.
“I’m just gonna seed you, girl. Spill my fuckin’ cum all in you for second time so it takes.”
Her walls clenched around his cock at his words, a soft moan escaping her lips.
“You like that, yeah?”
“Yes, yes—”
“Keep clenching on me, keep me nice and hard,” he growled into her ear gently licking the shell of it after he finished talking, “God– you got me right on the edge.”
“Don’t make me wait,” she sobbed, feeling herself go blind from pleasure.
“So greedy, so– so impatient.” Quaritch held onto her hips, using her hips for further leverage as he fucked her into the table.
“Cum– cum in me, please, Colonel, one more time.”
Her begging threw him over the edge, and he spilled his second load into her, his cock kicking as he did.
“Fuck, sweet girl, there you go. Not even gonna pull out of you, gotta keep you plugged up.” He sat up, pulling her on his lap, dick still inside.
“Do you think I’ll actually, uhm, you know?” she sighed, looking a bit concerned.
“Get pregnant? I don’t know, girl. Maybe not. Or maybe you will, and you’ll get full with some little recom soldier babies.” He ran his hand over her cheek before speaking again, “Maybe I should fill you up again. Third time’s a charm.”

Wednesday’s greatest weakness? Her personal kryptonite that she had absolutely no inkling of?
Having Enid clean her ears.
She had no frame of reference. Affection and physical intimacy were flaws of the flesh made obvious by her parents. And there was no reason to build a tolerance, like with poisons and drugs.
What warning could there have been? Would-be ticklers have lost fingers just trying to touch her ribs, let alone her pristine ear canals. Doctors wielded their otoscopes with care, having heard of what befell the last pediatrician who got too close.
Her own ear hygiene was entirely perfunctory; insert swab, three precise clockwise motions (while rotating the swab counter-clockwise), dispose of swab, and repeat with other ear. Just another perfected routine. Easy. Efficient.
Then one day, a few months ago, Enid wanted to try something with Wednesday. She saw a TikTok about mimi souji, the Japanese art of ear cleaning. It looked cute and kinda romantic. Wednesday thought it sounded like potential torture. In they end, they placed an order.
It took less than a week for the tool to come in. Wednesday called it an ‘ear pick,’ while Enid preferred mimikaki. Resembling a single chopstick with a tiny scoop at one end and a white ball of fluff at the other, it seemed innocuous. Enid thought it was cute. Wednesday was skeptical of its potential for torture, but surmised that she could probably kill someone with it.
Then they used it.
As it turns out, absolute mind-numbing bliss has, as Enid discovered and Wednesday experienced, been locked away by a pair of ears. Cue total system reboot. Paradise. Elysium. Ecstasy.
It was like Enid suddenly found herself in possession of the skeleton key to Wednesday herself. And Wednesday? She was instantly addicted. It re-wired her. Enid just had to say, “Babe, want me to clean—” and Wednesday would find herself lying with her head in Enid’s lap and no recollection of putting herself there.
By now you’d think Wednesday would be used to it, but she simply isn’t. That honestly terrifies her. The vulnerability, the pleasure, the inexorable peace. It’s like she’s trusting Enid with her naked soul every time it happens. Truly the stuff of nightmares.
As for Enid, she absolutely loves it. It’s quiet, it’s intimate, and it’s just the two of them. Plus, and no one else must ever know this… while Enid lovingly cares for girlfriend’s ears, Wednesday Friday Addams, feared hero of Nevermore, will stretch out her toes, scrunch up her nose, give both a wiggle… and smile. A true, blissful, wondrous smile.
While purring.
This is so specific but honestly I’d feel ecstatic too with that. I just imagine Wednesday just sitting on Enid’s lap while Enid does it and after, Wednesday is just so euphoric she passes out In Enid’s arm mumbling “thank you, Mon Coeur.” 😭😭🥺

working on a new vegas doctor costume
first 2 pics are the main bag, the rest of the costume pieces (and my thoughts) are under the break
Tumblr media Tumblr media
healing powder (crushed orange pez and candy cigarettes in a burlap bag), ophthalmoscope (a weathered otoscope because the item name in the game is wrong), sunset sarsaparilla deputy badge (worth every dead wastelander), surgical tubing, medical tweezers, forceps, gauze, mentats, fixer, jet, med-x, buffout, rad-x, and cateye. also a small mojave express mail pouch with some ncr currency, postcards, and the platinum chip (might roughen some of these up to look less new)
all of these bags are belt pouches to mimic the ones on the wasteland doctor fatigues outfit
Tumblr media
bufftats (not new vegas, but eh, it came with the other pill bottles), first aid box (came with the med-x, it has tiny buffout and rad-x bottles in it), and a box of atomic wrangler matches
Tumblr media
microfusion cell and vault 21 matches
Tumblr media
cigarettes and a vault 21 lighter (you see how often doctors smoke in that game??? clearly they need this many lights)
Tumblr media
gotta keep your caravan deck in easy reach, never know when a game might kick off...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bobby pins, a tin of bottle caps, tops casino dice, and a set of poker chips (ring a ding ding baby)
Tumblr media
the "codac r9000" michael angelo gives you. even if these old kodak cameras are dirt cheap, i still feel bad messing one up to make it look more like the game file, so natural aging only on this one
Tumblr media
the main costume itself: mirrored shades, the wastland doctor fatigues (green cargo pants and a white tee, need to dirty them up and blood spatter them), bandana, leather belt, and a replica colt peacemaker in a leather holster (i have a foam one for conventions, this one is a metal replica from denix that looks better on camera)
i have the materials to make rad-away, and i might throw that in this costume somehow. just worried about a bag of dyed water sitting over the rest of these sharp and/or fragile pieces while walking around
i went with a variety of bags/pouches because in my head, it makes no sense for someone using 200yo scavenged materials to have all matching equipment. it makes sense from the game design perspective (less Things To Model), but i see it more likely these were pieced together from scavenging, bartering, and hand making them.
i have the pipboy from the fo4 preorder, but im probably not going to use it for this outfit. its the wrong design for one, but its also plasticy and barely fits my arm (you have to basically cover my hand to get the clamps closed). i prefer this being pre-game courier six, or just some random wandering doctor who does odd jobs for mojave express on the side.
you might notice some major missing props! this mostly has to do with space or cost. i love nuka cola and sunset sarsaparilla, but how on earth am i fitting those bottles in a shoulder bag. as for stimpacks? 2 main reasons. 1, even basic unpainted 3d printed ones are $30+, which seemed excessive for this. 2? those seem more like adrenaline and painkillers meant to get you through battle and less like something a doc would administer. why cover the pain when i can just clean the wound and stitch you up?
im still debating if/how i do the leather gaiters on the doctor fatigues outfit. i cant find anything even close to right, and im not a leatherworker. i have a feeling if i just tuck the pants into my boots, nobody will notice anyway.
i have to stop myself on this one. i keep finding things to add or modify and at this rate itll never be finished. i already have a pair of surgical scissors coming, and i got a harmonica today. those may or may not end up in the bag. plus, ive got my eye on a deck of caravan cards pulled from the game files. the one i have is the preorder bonus one which is a beautiful deck but not very lore friendly.
still trying to figure out how to make/get the bottles they use for antivenom and other potions/poisons in the game. its weirdly hard to find white clay or stone bottles with a cork top and round bottom...
see what i mean! this build will never end...

@resus-girl-2 Part 9
When he has finished checking your ears he changes the disposable cone from the otoscope and then asks you to tilt your head back and he then examines your nose. He then sets down the otoscope and exchanges it for a wooden tongue depressor and penlight.
Dr Grant then instructs you to open your mouth and you feel the tongue depressor go in, you then taste it’s wooden flavour as it touches your tongue. He clicks on the penlight and loo into your mouth, moving the tongue depressor around, using it to hold your cheeks and tongue out of the way as he examines your mouth and teeth.
You sit there allowing him to go about the various tasks of his examination, your mind still trying to comprehend how you found yourself in this situation and what exactly this means for you.
Dr Grant asks you to say ahhh as he pushes your tongue down with the tongue depressor to examine your throat. Once he was done he turns off the penlight, takes the tongue depressor from your mouth and snaps it before dropping it in a bin. You close your mouth and instinctively lick your lips and swallow, wetting your mouth after it being open for so long.
After disposing of the tongue depressor Dr Grant returns to the side of the table and places his hands on the sides of your face and starts to feel the glands in your jawline and neck, he then moves downwards and feels along your collar bones, assessing those glands. He then moves his hands to your head and feels his way over your skull and then down the back of your neck.
He then makes his way to the counter and returns with a reflex hammer and a blood pressure cuff.

I have the thought of Cyber Sleuth Reader and Avdol taking care of the Chain's basic health. They carry first aid, various cold medicines with some being homemade, and even a defibrillator. Basically a pharmacy of stuff.
I'm pretty sure Hyrule asked how most of the stuff is made or works. Especially migraine medicine cause I can imagine some dungeon puzzles made everyone's head hurt and I ain't forgetting how many times a Link bumped their heads against a wall.
Checks up are also going to be a thing. You have 8 men plus one teenager travelling far distances, nevermind the constant monster attacks, so Reader can't help but feel their doctor instincts just flare up. Especially when it comes to Sky considering he lived on a floating island for most his life. Of course the Chain are gonna be a bit confused but decide it wouldn't hurt.
Now Reader carries the basic stuff like otoscope, reflex hammer, ophthalmoscope, stethoscope, thermometer, audioscope and such. Their Mummymon partner is the doctor's assistant who helps write down the diagnosis or provide any extra tools.
Warriors: Why do you carry all this stuff?
Reader: You won't believe how many requests I got where I had to play doctor.
Avdol: Pretty sure a good chunk were Digimon curious about human medicine.
Overall the Chain got a clean bill of health despite Wild nearly kicking the reflex hammer skyward outta reflex, Legend being antsy with the cuff to measure his blood pressure, and Time trying to not close both his eyes during the eye exam. (A certain deity got temporarily blinded a few times cause I headcanon that Fierce can see through Time's other eye although his vision is like 11/20 at best.)
Sky might get an emergency inhaler considering the huge difference in oxygen levels between Skyloft and the land below. A 'better be safe than sorry' kinda deal since he's most likely to have breathing problems amongst everyone.
Someone gotta keep an eye on Wild cause he might try to use the reflex hammer out of curiosity and probably get kicked for it.
Wild doesn't have to steal the hammer though. He has his own stuff that he's going to hit people's knees with and it's going to go about as well as your expect.
Poor Time though- I can imagine that he needs to sit down afterward just to keep his head from pinning after the eye check up.
There's a joke I can make here about the theme... But I will refrain XD
Four looks over to Avdol and tilts his head like- Just Digimon? Buddy, we're curious too!!

Doctor AU where they use a new disinfectant spray/wipe and one of them is insanely allergic 🤭
YOOOOO okay I’m putting a spin on this a little. Allergic!Robin with caring best friends Steve and Eddie - set in my Doctors Office AU ❤️
****
“T’shIEW!”
Robins head bobbed down for the 20th time that morning.
“Bless you!” Steve was standing by the fax machine scanning papers. “You okay? You’re really sneezy this morning.”
“Yeah M’fine. Just… TSHIEW!”
Steve raises an eyebrow and hums in thought. He takes a step toward his best friend and reaches his hand out to feel her forehead.
She looks up at him from behind his hand, “I don’t feel sick Steven.”
“Yeah we’ll you sound sick… but you’re right. No fever. Want me to have Eddie come check you out?”
“That seems…excessive but. If you insist.”
She pulls a few tissues from the box on her desk and blows her nose while Steve finishes scanning his papers. He leaves the chart with Robin and heads back towards his desk.
A few minutes later, Eddie shows up and straddles the extra swivel chair next to her.
“Hey Birdie! Steve says you want a second opinion on the sneezing?”
“SnFF! Yeah. Can’t seem to stop, really. Pretty annoying.”
Eddie also reached out to check her forehead, but she turns away from him and brings her shirt collar up over her nose.
“H’etssiew! E’KSHtew!”
“Bless you!” He pulls his otoscope from his coat pocket, “Open.”
Robin does as instructed and opens her mouth while Eddie looks inside.
“Good. Tilt your head back.”
He quickly glances in her nose as well.
“What’s the verdict, doc?” She rubs the back of her hand against her pink nose dusted with freckles.
“Your throat looks fine but your nose is super inflamed and irritated. I’m thinking allergic reaction. Use any new perfumes or sprays or anything lately?”
“Ummmb I don’t thi’gk so?” She thinks for a minute, “OHHHH shoot. We snfff ran out of the good cleani’g spray so I had to snf use a n’dew one today…”
She held up the bottle and scrunched her nose trying to fight off the unrelenting tickle.
“Give it here Robs.” Eddie takes the spray from her. “Go wash your face and I’m going to give you some antihistamines to help for the rest of the day.”
Robin nodded as she stood up to go to the bathroom to wash her face. Eddie stood up too to get rid of the cleaning spray, Robin’s itchy sneezes punctuating the silence.
He chuckled slightly as he entered the nurses station, holding the spray up for Steve to see.
“That the culprit?” Steve asks.
“Guilty as charged.” Eddie tossed the spray to Steve. “Hide that will you?”
Steve nodded, already planning to bag it and store it under the furthest sink cabinet.

Found You pt. 6
Gonna be a long one, but ya know, gotta do what ya gotta do. If you have gotten this far, I have gone back and edited past parts, making some changes.
Pairing: Scar x gn!reader, implied past relationship with Eve
NSFW, MDNI
///
The guilt and heaviness in your chest felt like it could suffocate you. Even if he was just teasing and trying to get a reaction out of you, the fluttering in your chest that you had felt made you feel like a traitor. Jaz had been gone a year and you were a constant in both Scar and Tal's lives, trying to help ease the burden of raising a child alone. Maybe he just wanted some sort of companionship.
But then, there was Eve.
You hadn't dated, but it was well known she liked you. A lot. Always bringing flowers or some sort of gift, going out of her way to find things in their raids that could benefit your work. But nothing had really come of it. Still, she had been a dear friend and it felt like you were betraying her.
Sleep didn't come easily and there was a lot of staring at the wall in front of you. You were probably worried about nothing and really, there wasn't anything wrong if there was something, but still...Jaz was such a good friend and she had loved Scar so much.
When the morning came, so did frantic knocks on the door. You jerked awake, scrambling from your bed, barely getting your boots on.
You yanked the door open, seeing a young boy, Jasper, panting with his hands on his knees, face red from running so hard.
"Jasper? What's wrong? Did Hattie fall off the hover board again?" You bent down, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Deep breaths, okay?"
"Tal." He panted. "She won't stop screaming. Super-hot, Scar wants you."
You didn't mean to, but you were sure you nearly knocked the poor boy over after grabbing your bag, taking off towards the tree. Super-hot and screaming immediately made you think that she had a fever, or something was infected and that scared you. You didn't have the stuff for it.
The closer you got to Scar's door, the louder the cries got, and Jasper was not kidding; she was screaming, not crying. Almost bursting through the door, you rushed in and zeroed in on the screaming baby in her father's arms. Even with her gray skin, you could see how red she was, her hair sticking to her forehead from the sweat.
You didn't even have to ask for her as Scar was so frazzled and desperate for answers, that he was placing her in your arms before you opened your mouth. She was super-hot to the touch, her little fist rubbing her ear, which was red from the friction and her pulling on it.
You held her close, trying to console her, rocking your body as you reached into your bag, grabbing your otoscope. Of course, Tal fought back and it took a lot of effort, but it confirmed what you had already thought.
"She has a severe ear infection. Probably from teething." You held her head to you, rocking your body. No matter what you did, there was no making this feel better. Dread filled your bones and you looked at Scar with worried eyes. "I don't have enough antibiotics for this or even the right kind. If it is left untreated, she'll lose hearing in that ear or worse." Children had died from things like this.
He ran a clawed hand over his face, obviously distressed by the news. "So, what do we do?" Another voice said and you turned around to see Ekko watching from the corner of the room, just as stressed. He was Scar's closest friend and Tal meant a great deal to him as well. "There was nothing on the past 2 raids and we don't have enough money to get more medicine."
The three of you fell silent and panic was starting to fill you. You had made a promise to Jaz after her death that you would do everything in your power to take care of Tal, no matter the cost. Your eyes found Scar's and he looked so helpless, so scared. His poor little girl needed help and he couldn't do anything.
Then an idea came to you. "I need to go to Piltover." You said to Ekko. "I can get the money, I just...have to break into my old room."
"Seriously?" Ekko's shoulders tensed, looking at you like you were crazy, which you probably were. "What if you get caught? They'd make you stay; we'd never see you again. Enforcers could get involved. That's a huge risk."
You looked at Scar again and pressed your cheek against Tal's head. "Then I better not get caught." You looked back at Ekko. "It would be enough to get her medicine and restock the clinic until the next raid. Ekko, please." You nearly went to your knees.
"Shit!" He hissed, hands on his hips. He hated the whole idea.
"I'll go with."
In shock, you looked at Scar. He'd go with you? "But she needs you-"
"If you get caught, then what? She won't get what she needs." He countered, his face hardening. "It won't matter where I am at if she doesn't get that medicine."
You closed your eyes and held Tal tighter as she screamed into your shoulder.
This had to be done, everyone's fears be damned, you wouldn't let her get worse. "Okay. Go get Wen, she knows how to help the fever while I am gone."
///
Handing over Tal was incredibly difficult, and Scar seemed to have a moment where he second guessed his decision, but when you turned to leave, he went with you.
He got his hover board and waited for you at the end of the pipe, looking at you expectantly. You were not hovering; you didn't even know how to. "I can walk." You sniffed, crossing your arms.
Shaking his head, he crouched down. "Get on my back."
"Pardon?" It came out a bit higher pitched than you meant, but you were taken aback by that. "Scar-"
"Get. On." He gave you an annoyed look and you almost withered away. Well, it was his daughter you were doing this for.
You ran your palms over the thighs of your pants to remove the nervous sweat, your heart quickening. You hated heights so much. It even took you a long time to go up to the top of the tree. But this was the quickest way.
You wrapped your arms around his broad shoulders and without much warning he stood up and adjusted you on his back, making you yelp in surprise. He hissed as he turned his head the other way. Bigger ears meant more sensitive hearing.
"Sorry." You muttered, tightening your grip. All you got was a grunt before he took off, your face going into the crook of his neck as you tried not to scream. Even though he had a solid hold on you, the fear that he would let go made you cling to him, your front pressed against his back.
Reluctantly, you had to look up to tell him which way to go. "Go left, it's on the otherside of town." You pointed to the other side of the Academy.
He hit the booster with his heel, making you yelp again. The grip he had behind your knees tightened as he banked hard, making the board almost go sideways. "Scar!"
You felt his chest rumble and you knew he was laughing at you. The bastard. Where his hands grabbed you, it felt like it seared your skin through the fabric that separated your skin from his. You heart sped up a little and that flutter returned. No, no, you chastised yourself. You can't feel that way about him.
When you got closer, you pointed to the pier and told him to land there. You'd have to sneak your way in, but this was something you had done so many times. You just hadn't done it with a large Chirean following you.
Scar set you down and put his board on his back watching you with amusement as you took a minute to get your bearings. Did he have to go that fast? When you got a hold of yourself and had glared at him, you motioned for him to follow you into an ally way.
Enforcers walked every street but sometimes they got lazy and wouldn't go down an ally or check behind crates.
You put your finger on your lips to tell him to be very quiet as you reached the end of the alleyway as it opened up near a brick wall. Looking both ways, you grabbed his wrist and pulled him around the corner, were it was shaded by a neighboring brick wall and vines that grew over it. Taking a deep breath, you grabbed the vines and used them to climb up, peaking over the wall to see if anyone was out in the gardens. When you didn't hear or see anyone, you slipped over the wall, waiting for Scar to climb over. Instead, you heard a couple of grunts and then he practically flew over the top of the wall, smirking down at you.
You rolled your eyes and gave him a playful shove before motioning over to some bushes, to hide more effectively.
"My room is on the second floor. The balcony will be locked but my spare key should still be here in the garden." You looked back at him, noticing he was looking around, taking in the new sights. This was something he had never experienced, and you felt upset that you couldn't just bring all the Firelights and let them enjoy the flowers and fresh air. "We have to be super quiet. It is music time, but my sister will be next door and she snoops just for the thrill."
Taking a minute to wait and see if anyone was coming out, you waved at him to follow you as you both tried to stay down and draw any attention. Your balcony wasn't that far but it was the easiest to spot from the garden. If anyone was out there, you'd be found immediately.
Under the balcony was a small rose patch and you reached into it carefully, only getting minor scratches, and pulled out a hollowed-out brick. You shook it, sighing in relief as you heard the jingle of the key inside. You slid it open and held it up with a small exclamation of victory.
"Okay, I'm going up. Stay here until I say so. I don't know if this is still my room." And your family wouldn't call the enforcers on you. They would on Scar, even if you were standing next to him.
The trellis next to the balcony made it easy for you to climb up and over the stone railing, crouching down as you looked inside. The curtains were pulled closed, but you could still see your writing desk. So many sleepless nights were spent there.
Quietly, you unlocked the door with the key and peaked in, seeing that it was completely unchanged and as if you never left. You could see from where you were that your room was locked and that made you smile. Good. "Scar." You whispered down. "Quick."
As you slipped into your old room, he was making it onto the balcony and right behind you. You shut the door behind him and stood there for a good moment, feeling out of place in the room you used to inhabit.
It was dusty, but it was all the same.
Scar began to roam around, looking at the silky sheets, the padded carpet, the gilded furniture. The look on his face told you he was shocked to see that this was where you once lived.
Clearing your throat, you went to the large vanity and opened up a drawer, pulling out a long thin box. When you opened it, rings of various sizes and colors gleamed and sparkled in the low light. A couple of bracelets were draped over a cylinder.
"Shit." You heard over your shoulder and you looked up to see Scar peaking over to look at what you had in your hands.
Yeah, shit was right. You could sell everything in this house and solve a lot of problems. The issue was finding a buyer who wasn't afraid of family names.
You flipped the box upside down and then went into the very large walk-in closet, pulling out an overnight bag and a couple of smaller ones. You handed two of them to Scar. "Bedding, clothes, anything you think might be useful, grab it." No one else was using it and any fabric could be used.
Going back to the rings, you had to see which ones you could get away with selling or could take without your family coming after you. Other pieces of jewelry came out of the vanity and were spread out as you examined each one.
Scar was in your closet, and you could hear him rummaging through the drawers and an occasional grunt or growl of annoyance. You had a lot of frivolous things in here, he probably was voicing his disapproval. You couldn't help it, no more than he could with where he grew up. But your privilege was now right in his face and perhaps he was worried you'd change your mind about going back.
You put the jewelry that wouldn't cause an incident between cities into the little drawstring bag you had, then stuffed it in your satchel, going into the closet to see what he found. Oh, he found things. Your silky things.
Given the situation you didn't think he'd be teasing you right now, but he held up the silky underwear with one finger, smirking at you. What was he doing?
"Scar!" You hissed and reached for them, making him holding them higher up. "What are you doing?"
"Looking for useful things." He said, amused as you again tried to reach for the underwear.
You stopped and covered your face, cheeks and ears on fire. "Okay, I get it, it's funny to make fun of me for reading that book, but my underwear-"
He held them up with both hands, the touch gentle despite the bruises on his knuckles. "They're see through."
If you could, you would have screamed. "And?"
His smirk turned even more devious. "Who are you wearing see through panties for?"
Oh, Janna. This wasn't teasing, not like what you had thought. "Why?" Stand your ground, throw it back at him, embarrass him this time. "You jealous?"
His pupils dilated and his smirk was smoldering now. Now you got to see what Jaz had been talking about all those times she decided to over share. He just had a way of getting under your skin-
"Hello?"
You looked at the doorway of the closet and then back at Scar, who had dropped the underwear and was now right beside you, rigid. You recognized that voice.
It was your sister.

Understanding the Role of an ENT Doctor
ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) doctors, also known as otolaryngologists, specialize in diagnosing and treating disorders related to the ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. Their expertise covers a wide range of conditions, from common ailments like sinus infections to more complex issues such as hearing loss and throat cancer.
One of the primary roles of an ENT doctor is diagnosing and treating disorders of the ear. This includes addressing hearing loss, ear infections, balance disorders, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). They use advanced tools like otoscopes to examine the ear canal and tympanometers to assess middle ear function.
In addition to ear conditions, ENT doctors manage disorders of the nose and sinuses. They treat chronic sinusitis, nasal congestion, allergies, nasal deformities, and even perform sinus surgeries when necessary. By utilizing endoscopes and imaging techniques, they can accurately diagnose and provide effective treatments for these issues.
ENT specialists also play a crucial role in managing conditions affecting the throat and voice box. They diagnose and treat disorders such as tonsillitis, laryngitis, vocal cord polyps, and throat cancer. Using laryngoscopes and other instruments, they can visualize the throat and voice box to make accurate assessments.
Furthermore, ENT doctors often collaborate with other medical specialists, such as oncologists, neurologists, and allergists, to provide comprehensive care for their patients. This interdisciplinary approach ensures that all aspects of a patient's condition are considered and treated effectively.
In conclusion, ENT doctors are vital healthcare professionals who specialize in diagnosing and treating disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related structures. Their expertise, supported by advanced diagnostic tools and treatments, helps improve the quality of life for patients experiencing a wide range of ENT-related issues. Diagnosis Based on the symptoms you describe and an examination, your doctor can usually diagnose an ear infection or another problem. The doctor will most likely examine your ears, throat, and nasal tube with a lighted equipment called an otoscope.
Prevention To avoid ear crises, follow these steps:  Never put anything in your ear canal without first consulting a healthcare professional.  Never hit yourself in the head to try to fix an ear condition.  Teach kids to avoid putting items in their ears.  Don't clean your ear canals at all.  Avoid blowing your nose and getting water in your wounded ear after an ear injury.  Treat ear infections as soon as possible.

Tips To Keep Your Ears Clean
It is common for most of us to get tempted to clean our ears. But, do you have to clean your ears and remove this wax? The ideal answer is “NO”.
Ear wax acts as a lubricant that keeps your ears away from itching and drying. It also has antibacterial properties. This prevents dust and dirt from building up inside your ears. Ideally, you should not clean ear wax. However, this ear wax can sometimes accumulate inside your ears and cause unwanted symptoms like pain, discomfort in your ears, a feeling of the ear being blocked, partial hearing loss, itching, etc. Thus, a right ear care routine is very important even though you should not remove your wax every day.
If you suspect ear wax build-up and experience any of the above symptoms, consult an expert ENT specialist in Malleswaram and understand how to clear it. Meanwhile, below are a few tips for you to learn how to clean your ears well.
Tips for Healthy Ears
Tip: Avoid Cotton Swabs
When we feel the build-up of ear wax inside our ears, most of us first think of using a cotton swab. Stay away from this practice. Studies have shown that using swabs or any pointed object to remove ear wax is ineffective and can instead harm your ears and cause an injury.
Cotton swabs can push the wax further deep into the ears, i.e., into the ear canal. It can affect or injure your eardrums. The use of cotton swabs can slow down the process of the natural removal of ear wax. It can even get stuck in your ears. The best way to remove the excess ear wax is to see your doctor. They have dedicated devices to remove the excess ear wax without causing any harm to your ears.
Consult an ENT hospital in Bangalore if you need more information on ear care.
Tip: Use Earwax Softeners
Earwax softener though is an easy and safe solution to get rid of excess ear wax that has blocked the ear canal, it is not recommended. There are many over-the-counter ear drops available nowadays that can help you soften and loosen ear wax. But without a doctor’s advice, it is better not to use any of them. Because these should not be used in an ear with a recurrent infection, an ear with a perforation & in patients with allergic Dermatitis, etc.
Before using these products, you must read the instructions for the usage carefully as written in the package. Put the mentioned number of drops or sprays into your ears.
Tip: Regularly Rinse Your Ears
Generally, your body keeps the amount of ear wax regulated. The ear wax makes its way out of your ears during chewing and jaw movement. You are not advised to clean your ears every day as you do for your teeth. While taking a head bath, some amount of water does enter the ear canal and waters away the wax, so don’t rinse the ear.
If you have issues associated with ear wax build-up, your ENT doctor may confirm the cause of the symptoms. An otoscope is inserted into your ears to examine if there is excess wax build-up. If present, a syringe is used to flush water or a water plus saline solution into the ears to remove the excess wax.
Avoid using earphones & headphones; avoid loud music & noisy Environment.
Tip: Professional Check-Ups
Not every issue with your ears, such as pain, hearing problems, or itching, is related to earwax accumulation. Other conditions like the presence of an infection may be the reason behind your symptoms. Thus, do not self-medicate or consider home remedies. Visit your doctor and get your ears assessed thoroughly.
Ear hygiene is important. However, you don’t have to remove ear wax as part of your cleansing routine. Only when, there is excess wax production, causing discomfort or certain symptoms, should you see your doctor.
Visit an ent specialist in Malleswaram by scheduling an appointment at Manipal North Side Hospital, Malleswaram, Bengaluru.
FAQs
1. How often should I clean my ear?
You should not clean your ears regularly and for no reason.
2. Is ear wax actually wax?
It is not wax in reality. It is made of dead skin cells and oils secreted by the glands present inside the ear canal.
3. Does ear wax repel bugs?
Ear wax acts as a repellent and prevents bugs from entering the ears.

ENT Surgical Instruments: An Indispensable Asset in Otorhinolaryngology
Tumblr media
In the vast field of medical surgery, Otorhinolaryngology – also known as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialty – is a distinct discipline that addresses the intricate structures and issues of the human head and neck. With the evolution of medical technology, the variety and sophistication of ENT surgical instruments have markedly increased. These tools, designed with precision and function in mind, are key players in the successful execution of ENT procedures.
Unveiling the World of ENT Surgical Instruments
ENT surgical instruments cater to a broad spectrum of procedures, from minimally invasive office treatments to complex surgical interventions. These instruments are meticulously designed to provide optimal visualization, access, and treatment of the ear, nose, and throat areas. Such SMS instruments include otoscopes, speculums, forceps, micro scissors, and a host of other specialized devices, each with its unique role in ENT procedures.
The Role of ENT Surgical Instruments
The ear, nose, and throat are delicate and complex structures. When treating conditions in these areas, healthcare professionals need precision tools that offer superior control and accuracy. ENT surgical instruments provide this necessary precision, ensuring safe and effective treatments.
For instance, otoscopes provide a magnified view of the ear canal and tympanic membrane, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of ear conditions. Similarly, specialized ENT forceps are designed to handle delicate tissues, remove foreign objects, or perform biopsies within the nasal cavity or throat.
Unveiling the Variety of ENT Surgical Instruments
Otoscopes
Otoscopes are fundamental instruments in ENT, used primarily for viewing the inner ear. Featuring a light source and a magnifying lens, otoscopes provide a clear, enlarged image of the ear canal and tympanic membrane, aiding in the diagnosis of conditions such as ear infections or blockages.
Nasal Speculums
Nasal speculums are used to widen the nostrils for improved visibility and access during nasal examinations or procedures. These tools are pivotal in diagnosing conditions like nasal polyps or sinusitis.
Laryngeal Mirrors
Used to inspect the larynx (voice box), laryngeal mirrors offer an indirect view of the vocal cords and glottis, allowing healthcare professionals to diagnose and manage conditions affecting these structures.
Forceps
In ENT, several types of forceps are employed. Alligator forceps, with their unique, long design and small, jaw-like tips, are perfect for reaching into deep, narrow spaces to grasp or remove foreign objects. Biopsy forceps are used to extract tissue samples from the throat, nose, or ear for diagnostic purposes.
Suction Tubes
Suction tubes are essential in ENT procedures to remove excess fluids, thereby maintaining a clear field of view. These instruments come in different sizes and shapes for various applications, such as removing ear wax or fluid from the nasal passages.
Micro Scissors
Used in delicate ENT surgeries, micro scissors offer exceptional precision and control. Their sharp, small, and often curved blades are designed for cutting soft tissues in tight, delicate areas without causing excessive trauma.
Sinus Trocars
Sinus trocars are used in paranasal sinus procedures. These instruments help create a pathway into the sinus cavities for the drainage of fluids or the insertion of other surgical instruments.
Adenotomes
Adenotomes are specifically designed for adenoidectomies (removal of the adenoids). They are used to cut and remove the adenoid tissue from behind the nasal cavity.
In summary, ENT surgical instruments are diverse and sophisticated, each tailored for specific tasks within the vast field of Otorhinolaryngology. These instruments play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of ENT procedures, ultimately enhancing patient care and treatment outcomes.

Free Hearing Tests Perth
If you are experiencing a decrease in your hearing ability, you should get it checked immediately. This is because it could be the first signs of a significant hearing loss, which may worsen over time without proper care and treatment. Fortunately, there are many provisions in place to help you manage your condition and improve your quality of life.
A qualified audiologist, or audiometrist, will conduct a hearing test to assess your current level of sensitivity. They will play sounds through a pair of sterile headphones and ask you to press a button every time you hear them. The results of the test are then charted on an audiogram, which provides a clear picture of your hearing. In addition to determining your degree and type of hearing loss, the audiologist will also be able to advise you on the best solution for you moving forward.
Your free hearing tests Perth will take place in a quiet and sanitised screening room, where you will sit in a comfortable position wearing the headphones. You will be asked to listen to sounds and respond by pressing a button each time you hear them, which is a simple process that takes no more than 20 minutes. Your audiologist will then analyse the data from your tests and inform you of the results on the same day.
This will allow you to understand your sensitivity at all normal frequencies, allowing the audiologist to determine the nature of your hearing loss and recommend an appropriate treatment. The audiologist will also be able recommend additional audiological management when required, such as hearing aid fittings and other solutions.
A full diagnostic hearing assessment will include pure tone audiometry, speech discrimination testing and a Middle Ear test. These are all designed to give the audiologist the most detailed and accurate picture of your hearing possible. This will allow them to determine the type and degree of hearing loss you have as well as identify any underlying pathology, such as an ear infection or aural atresia (decreased eardrum mobility).
If you are aged 65 years or older, you can receive a full diagnostic hearing test for free through the Australian Government Hearing Services Program. This is an important part of your annual health check, alongside dental checks, as it is essential to identify any potential problems and act as early as possible.
If you are concerned about your child’s hearing, it is advisable to have them tested as soon as possible. A professional audiologist will use tests tailored for your child’s age, which can be either behavioural or objective. Behavioural tests rely on your child reacting to the sound and can vary from a baby crying or turning their head when a noise is played, to a visual stimulus such as a puppet. Objective tests will include an otoscope to examine the ear canal and ear drum. Your audiologist will discuss these findings with you and suggest the next steps to ensure your child’s healthy hearing.

out of the mouth of babes
there was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.  upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.  when his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "nothing, i just helped him cry."
teacher debbie moon's first graders were discussing a picture of a family.  one little boy in the picture had a different color hair than the other family members.  one child suggested that he was adopted.  a little girl said, "i know all about adoptions because i was adopted."  "what does it mean to be adopted?" asked another child.  "it means," said the girl, "that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy."
a four year old was at the pediatrician for a check up. As the doctor looked down her ears with an otoscope, he asked, "do you think i'll find big bird in here?"  the little girl stayed silent.  next, the doctor took a tongue depressor and looked down her throat.  hHe asked, "do you think i'll find the cookie monster down there?"  again, the little girl was silent.  then the doctor put a stethoscope to her chest.  as he listened to her heart beat, he asked, "do you think i'll hear barney in there?"  "oh, no!" the little girl replied.  "Jesus is in my heart.  barney's on my underpants."
as i was driving home from work one day, i stopped to watch a local Little League baseball game that was being played in a park near my home.  as i sat down behind the bench on the first-base line, i asked one of the boys what the score was.  "we're behind 14 to nothing," he answered with a smile.  "really," i said.  "i have to say you don't look very discouraged."  "discouraged?" the boy asked with a puzzled look on his face.  "why should we be discouraged?  we haven't been up to bat yet."
whenever i'm disappointed with my spot in life, i stop and think about little jamie scott.  jamie was trying out for a part in a school play.  his mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.   on the day the parts were awarded, i went with her to collect him after school.  jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement.  "guess what mom," he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me: "i've been chosen to clap and cheer."
an eye witness account from new york city on a cold day in december some years ago: a little boy of about 10 years old was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window and shivering with cold.  a lady approached the boy and said, "my little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window?"  "i was asking God to give me a pair of shoes," was the boy's reply.  the lady took him by the hand and went into the store and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy.  she then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel.  he quickly brought them to her.  she took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with a towel.  by this time, the clerk had returned with the socks.  placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes.  she tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him.  she patted him on the head and said, "no doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now?"  as she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand and looking up in her face, with tears in his eyes, answered the question with these words: "are you God's wife?"

What causes ear infections in a baby?
Do you know that doctors in a pediatric emergency ward always carry an Otoscope to check for ear infections in crying babies?
That is how common ear infections are in babies.
The reasons are simple, and the solutions are even more simple.
The leading cause of ear infections in babies
Feeding habits are responsible for ear infections
Babies below six months love to sleep with milk in their mouths. Milk has a protein that induces sleep, and babies tend to sleep while consuming milk. In the mouth, many bacteria can ferment the milk faster than in normal room conditions.
The fermented milk and bacteria in the mouth can enter the middle ear through a eustachian or auditory tube while in sleep. This bacteria, along with milk, can enter the ear through auditory tubes, which causes ear infections in a baby.
If the fermented milk enters the nose from the nasopharynx (back of the nose), it causes rhinitis, i.e., the common cold.
Risk factors in infants below six months
Why is the risk of middle ear infection high in infants?
The Eustachian tube allows airflow from the nasopharynx (back of the nose) to the middle ear. These auditory tubes in babies below six months are placed horizontally, unlike adults whose tubes are more vertical or inclined.
The horizontally placed auditory tubes in a baby make it easy for the fermented milk to move from the mouth to the middle ear in turn increasing the chance of middle ear infection.
A newborn's head is designed small to make it easy during birth. So, the skull has limited space to accommodate the brain. Hence, the eustachian tubes are placed horizontally to make space for the brain. As the baby's head grows, tubes get the area to align themselves vertically, decreasing the risk of ear infections.
How to prevent ear infections in a baby?
The leading cause of ear infections in babies is feeding habits, which can be easily corrected.
·       Always feed a baby below six months in a slant position.
·       After feeding the baby, make sure  to put them on your shoulder and tap their back until they get a burp
How can you identify ear infections in an infant?
Generally, babies tend to cry when they are in pain. In most cases, a doctor will diagnose and confirm using an otoscope. In older babies, you can see them rubbing their ears as if they want to clean up something.
Ear infection treatment for infant
If we can identify by child's behavior, we can give them saline nose drops, 4 to 5 drops in each nostril, 4 to 6 times a day.
Saline is sterile water with Sodium Chloride equal to a human cellular concentration, i.e., 0.9% Sodium Chloride nose drops. The secretions get washed out and diluted with the nose drops, bringing down the infection. Once these drops drain the nasopharynx, recovery will be faster. If the infection is high, the doctor can prescribe antibiotics.
