“God of Love; Lies” Heather Hudson
5″x7″ on paper, graphite and metallic watercolor
I’m drawing gods of love from my “Other Side of the Wood” project on Patreon.  This is a local god of Lies told for Love, the lies told to make a loved one happy. It’s native to Florn in the southern coastal region of the human empire.  It needs a bucket because even well-meaning lies can get messy.  There is some theological debate about the pigeon.

To tell the truth in love is to see Love's anatomy stripped bare, and to accept all that may be revealed before speaking.

This February I'm using the "Month of Love" project to spark stories in my own world beyond the Wood. I'll post artwork of a new god each week, with both a general introduction and a piece of short fiction that builds it into the world.  The general intro will be found on all the platforms on which the god of the week appears, but the short fiction will be posted only on Patreon, set to General Access. Friday Fairy Fiction #4; Old Threadneedle https://www.patreon.com/posts/junefae-2018-4-19906826
"Old Threadneedle" is the last of this year's Junefae Friday Fairy Fiction posts, a story about the fae of my Other Side of the Wood world.  It's a glimpse into the world where my Junefae faeries live and work and eventually explode in a golden glittering cloud.  It's also a look at how the inhabitants of the Other Side of the Wood deal with that.

Day 3 of Junefae - A Mystery Fae  I have no idea what this little fae evolved from.  A bird? A fox? Maybe a squirrel?  We could ask him when he starts talking, but the fae don’t remember much from before they changed.  We may never know. In this Junefae challenge I'm focusing on the faeries of my own baby Otherwhere, the world of the Other Side of the Wood.  I’ll write a few quick words about each fairy as I post it. Each Friday of the month, though, I will write a longer post about one of the week's fairies for my Patreon page. This article will be general access. Faeries and faeriscites first emerged in my 2015 sketchbook "The Other Side of the Wood," but you can learn more about them in this general-access Patreon post; https://www.patreon.com/posts/on-faeries-and-18827366

Junefae 2018 Approaching...
Tomorrow, on the first day of June, I will post my first fairy for the June Fae art challenge. Theoretically, fairy sketches will be posted on my site and several of my favorite social media pages each day of the month.
This year I will be focusing on the Faeries of my own baby Otherwhere, the world of the Other Side of the Wood.  There will be a few quick words of background about each fairy as I post them, but just a few.  Each Friday of the month, though, I will write a longer post about one of the week's fairies for my Patreon page.  Will it be a scholarly article by a goblin academic who studied the faeriscite plague too closely?  A poignant yet uplifting tale of a boy and his secret pet Fae?  A day in the life of a faerie swarm?  I dunno - I will let my pencil tell me about the fairy, and the fairy will tell me its story, and then I'll tell you.  Eventually we'll both know.
Faeries and faeriscites first emerged in my 2015 sketchbook "The Other Side of the Wood,"but you can learn more about them in this general-access post from my Patreon Page; https://www.patreon.com/posts/on-faeries-and-18827366
Cheers!  It's going to be a quick-paced, demanding month!  Let's do good things with it!  Check back here often to see how the fairies are progressing!

Junefae Fairy Fiction Friday # 3 - Cook's Cat Fae
 https://www.patreon.com/posts/junefae-2018-3-19610834
Each Friday this month I'm posting an original short story inspired by one of the fairies I've drawn for the Junefae artist challenge.  I'm sharing them as general access posts on my Patreon page.  Today's story is about The Cook’s Cat Fae.
All material on my Patreon is copyright 2015-2018, Heather Hudson.  To learn more about my fae, read here.  To read previous fairy stories from this month's Junefae challenge, read here and also read here.
The Other Side of the Wood is my on-going world-building project, growing out of a sketchbook of the same name that I published a few years ago. I'm building the project on Patreon, which gives me both a place to publish and a forum to build community, and also (thank you, gentle patrons!) funds an extra cup of fancy coffee each month. More stories will follow.
