Steven Universe: The Movie VHS
Here's a render of my box art draft! It's coming along pretty well, and I put some pretty neat Easter eggs in this one.
Tumblr media
Unlike my Over the Garden Wall tape, I'm deciding to go for a partial wrap around design. The front, top, and side are all part of the same image, with the back being reserved for a scenic shot of Beach City.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got in trouble (permanently banned, actually) for using the FBI warning logo in my art when trying to print OtGW at a print shop, so this time I'm replacing it with the age rating.
If you look closely, the number on the side is the last 4 digits of the mysterious girl's phone number from season 4 episode 6 Last One Out of Beach City.
Tumblr media
Additionally, the bar code is the bar code for a GameCube! I thought this was fitting since Steven owns a GC and he plays it constantly. It is also just a super nostalgic console for me, and I can't be the only one who related to Steven a little extra because of his console choice.
Tumblr media
The most difficult part of creating this physically is definitely going to be finding a pink VHS tape. I haven't been able to find the specific shade of pink that I want, but I've come pretty close with some VHS releases of Sky Dancers “The Sky’s The Limit” “On Wings Of Song.”
Tumblr media
Unfortunately this leans more hot-pink purpleish, and looking for the exact shade is a little hard because I've got Finn the Human syndrome (just a little colour blind). Worst case scenario, I find an off-coloured (lol) tape and I treat it a little bit with bleach or something.
And now to the pan and scan part of the project:
Editing this movie is hard. Really hard. This movie has a very stylized intro credits, most of which are formatted specifically for a 16:9 screen. I'm honestly considering reverse engineering the entire opening credits and just building it from the ground up for a 4:3 aspect ratio.
As for opening ads/title cards, I'm absolutely going to put an Over the Garden Wall trailer. I might just make an MCU type deal where all my tapes reference each other. That would be funny I think.
Anyway follow for more updates or to see silly little guys I make in blender every tuesday!

Over the Garden Wall had ten episodes, three of which are 11 minutes long and seven are 12 minutes. The series is 117 minutes, which is 1 hour, 57 minutes long, yet it had slower pacing than Hazbin Hotel's first season, which had eight 30-minute episodes, averaging out to 240 minutes, or 4 hours.
Even Infinity Train's first season, which has ten eleven-minute episodes, did better with its pacing than Hazbin Hotel, despite only having 110 minutes, a.k.a., 1 hour, 50 minutes. Both OTGW and Infinity Train had half the time Vivziepop had, but had slower pacing and better development than Hazbin Hotel.
Helluva Boss, a show she has control over, has poor pacing, character, and world development because she doesn't have the patience to explore her story slowly. Vivziepop is the issue with the pacing in her writing, not the length of her shows.
Exactly. Other shows have done so much more with a tenth of the resources and opportunities she's been given.

Finished my annual otgw rewatch and god. The fact that Greg and Wirt are normal ass kids plopped into the middle of a fairytale purgatory is expressed so perfectly.
Like... the residents of the Unknown don't act like normal people. They talk in this way that's weird and expository, like characters in a children's story would generally act (The Woodsmans vague prose, Ms. Langtree suddenly talking about her ex every few minutes... you get it). Even Beatrice, at the beginning, talks like this (albeit, it's a front to trick Wirt and Greg, which I find interesting inet of itself). The characters act strangely so the story can continue the way it needs to; the way the Beast wants it to. For example, Lorna could just tell Wirt and Greg that she turns into a horrifying monster sometimes and might eat them, but the story needs to continue in a certain way, so she doesn't.
It's clear the Unknown operates on fairytale logic- there's bluebird curses, animal schoolhouses, children's wishes being granted by cloud people, people being turned into trees, souls trapped in lanterns, etc. All of it feels like a story- because it is. Everything but Wirt and Greg, that is.
Wirt and Greg are two very normal kids with very normal problems. They're quirky, sure, but they act like ordinary kids. We learn about them, their personalities and their history in a very organic way. We learn that they're brothers because the Woodsman says "You and your brother" to Wirt in the first episode. We only learn they're half siblings after they're prodded about it in episode 4. We know next to nothing about their lives and how they ended up in the unknown until we see it in a flashback. They (mostly Wirt) are constantly weirded out by the Unknown and it's residents, and are obvious outsiders.
In fact, them being the only people who don't function on fairytale rules is what saves them in the end. Any ordinary protagonist- or any resident of the Unknown- would accept the Beasts offer. But because Wirt is Wirt and Wirt is normal, he immediately clocks that the Beast is lying, and it saves him, his brother, and the Unknown as a whole.

Showing gravity falls (or as we call it, grabbity balls, after i saw a tumblr post that made me cry laughing) to my gf who has never seen it and
1) this time i truly understand why all the transmasc dipper hcs, like his masculinity is constantly under scrunity and being tested every episode it's a huge topic of the show.
2) the jokes about grenda (greta? Idk) are kind of uncomfortable like it does just come off like there is a trans girl that many people are transphobic to frequently (frequent comments about her voice + saying she's manly, the bit where she says she used to sound like pacifica until her voice changed.) I'm surprised I've never seen fan stuff like earnestly hcing her as trans?
3) i am going to earnestly hc her as trans and imagine a beautiful future where she becomes butch when she's a bit older and then dipper also becomes a transfem butch (inspired by a post where this happens and he continues looking the same.) And they can be friends :)
4) i feel like i want to put wirt otgw, dipper, + joe from the kings of summer in some sort of specially constructed observation wood to see what happens

princess tutu is a cool show so far, just finished episode 4. i love how it opts out of making its setting feel detailed or lived in as a conscious artistic choice—it's supposed to feel unearthly and unreal. the school and the town have no name, the characters never mention family or friends from back home, the only non-main characters we see exist only to act out episode-specific parables. it's like OTGW if OTGW didn't even bother to name the unknown. and also all the dancing is rendered with so much love—style is substance style is substance
it is really thematically and narratively lumpy tho. i sense a dilemma for the writers wherein they're committed to Ahiru/Tutu as the sole protagonist with Mytho as a distant and mysterious figure, but all of the emotional development resulting from the Princess Tutu transformations necessarily occurs 100% within Mytho. the episodes all focus on Ahiru for like 15 minutes before culminating in cathartic sequences that have nothing to do with her and have to rely on brute force monologues and visual spectacle to get you to feel something (they are really really gorgeous to be fair). feels like a flawed formula that i hope the writers figure out a better version of before too long

ok so
there are 2 of these things that asnnoy me so much
and its that they had gumball x sarah when gumball x penny was the whole ship in the show
also no bubbline
I'm analyzing this so much. And i just. What???
Dexter/Blossom: Iirc this got popular in crossover fanfic circles back in the day. How this ended up here I have no idea.
Lapis/Peridot: Is popular I'll accept it not a favorite but fair.
Deedee/Mandark: I haven't watched Dexter's Lab in a while but wasn't this incredibly one-sided?
Eddy/Nazz: I do not remember any romance in this show other than the fuckin sister trio being horny on main. Did these two get an episode to themselves at some point that everyone went off on or...?
Gumball/Fiona: First off, why the genderswap ones??? Secondly, assuming things are similar in the genderswap universe thing, this ship would be one-sided and not endgame given both Finn and Bubblegum's endgame ships.
Gumball/Sarah: Yeah isn't. I never kept up with Gumball but did something happen to Penny???
Numbuh 5/Numbuh 4: ?????? It was always Numbuh 3 and Numbah 4?????? What the fuck? I think the more popular Numuh 5 ship was either Numbuh 1 or Heinrich/Henrietta.
Kid Flash/Jinx: I feel like I missed an episode here was this a thing?
Chowder/Panini: Very onesided from what I remember but at least canon-ish and popular.
Kevin/Gwen: Despite my opinions, at least this one was a canon and mutual ship.
Lorna/Writ: Can I admit that I haven't watch otgw yet? Idk if this is a thing.
CJ/Mordecai: Didn't they break up and get acknowledged as bad for each other or am I misremembering again?

One more OTGW post! There is one more after this one than im done.
Do you guys remember the 3rd episode? The one with the animal school? You know how sad ans distraught Ms Langtree was because Jimmy ran away? Did you notice how they never mentioned HOW LONG he has been gone?
Do you remember the ABC's song she sang? There is a full version of it on spotify, it's called Ms Langtree's Lament. In the episode the song gets cut short but in the full song she sings about numbers once she finishes the alphabet. She sings:
1 is the number of men i loved
And 2 is the number of times i'll say it's you. It's you!
3 is the number of days you've been gone but it feels like 4 times 2
3 DAYS???!
YOU'RE TELLİNG ME HE'S BEEN GONE FOR THREE DAYS???
"But it feels like 4 times 2"
THAT IS NOT A LONG TIME LANGTREE

watching over the garden wal!!! obviously spoilers so like, watch out for that. this is gonna be a long one as i plan to do the whole series at once so we go on until the picture limit breaks and then we start another post
the intro has such vibes. the best part about it being a miniseries is that it doesnt worry about like. spoilers. it can just tell you “this is the short of it, now lemme tell you the long of it.”
the chorus that starts playing when wirt is like “where are we”??? haunting. where can i find it?
whoever wrote this knows exactly how to write kids i love it
“welcome to the unknown boys, you’re mor elost than you realize” indeed
greg- greg no- bad idea. dont go towards the forest.
-
what is up with that turtle???
“it is your burden to bear” thank you mr woodsman
-
ep 2
the drawings in the wood in the intro. what’s up with that
“the good woman of the woods”....i dont believe that. that’s sus.
that festival seems so interesting??? –
what do you mean the fucking pumpkin *talks*
love that “patient is the night” song
-
oo that was…a plot twist
…..
that “you’ll join us someday” is…….something
the fuck. is up. with the leaf.
—----
ep 3-
“see, no willpower whatsoever” ms beatrice. what.
i mean its true though
aww, that school concert was such a clever idea! and that small twist. when you hear greg say “let’s steal the instruments” you think he’s still thinking about giving them back to the school for fun. but then the concert is revealed and you see “oh, greg isnt as stupid as he seems”, it’s cute.
ep 4
songs of the dark lantern??? sounds interesting
that highwayman animation is so???? idk. it’s weird. thy were bordering the uncanny valley for this one and i think it was on purpose
the fuck. is up. with those trees. i want answers.
haha. the beast is fucking terryfying i’ll be seeing it in my nightmares now.
ep 5
this illustration is so good tho??
Tumblr media
this guys just having an entire existential crisis mood
beatrice used to be human? that’s interesting
what is up with these fainting ladies and mr-s? –
two pennies for the ferry…like two coins for the charon?
......
also love how the twist here wasnt that there were supernatural shenanigans but that there werent supernatural shenanigans
the fish?????? what have the coins got to do with anything??? hmm????
ep 5
that frog song is really nice
beatrice is sus.
-
also, i love how wirt is slowly warming up to greg??
aaand yep. adelaide is bad. fairytale back. has anyone written a fairytale re-telling of otgw? it has the themes…
oh….poor bea
andd just like that the character development is gone.
chapter 7
also just noticed the eps are labeled chapters! like books! –
oh dear….the woodsman is….wow.
“ we should talk”
we’re never seeing the woodsman again i think.
auntie whispers is so fucking creepy??? is there a single adult with a house that is also not entiwned with any dark magic?? not a single one??
huh. so it was lorna alla long huh…..yk what they say about appearances
did whispers never think to say “begone evil spirit” or????
also. if whispers isnt lorna’s real aunt, but they still consider eachothr family…..how did they meet?
it must have been a sad story, though.
“there is only the forest and there is only surrender”
….
i want a story for the beast. even if it’s just “it sprouted from the ground one day”. i need mor eof it.
oh well, fics must exist. if not, i’ll make one.
ep 8
aand wirt lost hope.
bye.
this episode is…sooo weird
it’s snowing?? already?? wasnt it autumns just a few episodes ago???
….at least now i know where the edelwood trees come from.
what did gregory wish for tho???
Tumblr media
.....
9 ep….were going at the speed of light huh?
—”into the unknown”....they do say be careful what you wish for, no?
-
oh….oh wirt’s…teenagery. which means Really Fucking Mean.
10
:((((
oh…sio the beast is setting tasks for wirt, fairytale style, so he’ll give up, huh?
…..
-
the beast’s eyes are the same as the dog’s after it ate the turtle…..maybe it’s some sign of corruption? or evil??
“take on the task of lantern bearer” how bout no.
WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE BEAST WHATS IT MADE OF WHAT THE FUCK
it looks like wood but???? holy shit??? trypophobiaed wood.
if the beast is made of wood and it eats the sap (oil) from trees is it a tree vampire????
HOLY SHIT HE DID IT
….
lovely ending is lovely
this show met all my expectations, and surpassed them, too!

October 10: OTGW 1-4
I was really tired again today, unsurprisingly, literally almost fell asleep at my desk; it was that bad. I got myself home and meant to take like a 40 minute nap and then it was 3 hours later. Like I don't remember turning off my alarm or anything. I think I was having quite weird/intense dreams though I don't remember them.
Anyway, got an unsatisfying dinner and now I need to make tomorrow's lunch and take a shower and go back to bed ASAP.
Over dinner, continued my first time watch of Over the Garden Wall. Literally every year since I joined tumblr I've been telling myself to Watch the Thing and I never have. I really didn't know what to expect, other than the aesthetic which is obviously what I see around here, but I'm really enjoying it even more than I thought I would. I knew it would be beautiful and autumnal and it is. But it's also weird, surprisingly spooky and dark for a Cartoon Network show, and endearing in its characters.
I've seen the first four episodes so far. Definitely Ep 2 is my favorite so far and I don't honestly think anything subsequent will top it. I liked the spookiness of the first two episodes more than the musical-ness of the next two, but they were still cute and Ep 3, with the animal school, was really quite endearing, with just enough strangeness to it to keep with the overall vibe.
I like that it started out with just 'we're in the woods and we're lost' no exposition, no context--it feels very much like a dream, in a way. You know from that alone that you're in a place with no rules because generally people do know why hey are in the places they are. So, now, anything can happen here.
Aesthetically, it reminds me both of CN shows of my childhood, specifically in its characters and their style of humor, but also of older books and media, sort of Wind in the Willows with the talking animals, but with an added spooky quality. Not like pastoral England but like... perpetual autumn fairy tale. But then there's also a surreal and again dream-like quality where things happen in a completely unexpected and unpredictable way while still sticking to archetypes--hero's journey...literally everything in the Tavern of Singing Archetypes (side note: the highwayman song was pretty good), Jane-Eyre-style orphanage/school, the threatening Beast in the woods, etc. Except it's animals and pumpkins and skeletons and time has no meaning and every sentient being just accepts the world around it without question in a way not unlike children do, because they discern certain rules about the environment but not the reasons for them.
I probably have some other thoughts rattling around in there (my brain) but I'm just so tired. I'm so tired. I really wanted to make a crisp tomorrow and I guess I could still do that (if I get enough sleep tonight and feel better) but I didn't do any of the prep work like cleaning my kitchen today... I don't know. Get sleep first I guess.

behold! i didn't see any otgw icebergs, so i made my own :)
if you think i should add something, lmk!!
Explanations under cut :)
First layer:
▪︎Beast!Wirt au - very popular au in which Wirt stays in the Unknown, possessed by the Beast to some extent.
▪︎Bad End Friends - Crossover AU of Beast!Wirt teaming up with Ice Finn from Adventure Time and Bipper from Gravity Falls; sometimes other 'bad end' au characters are thrown in such as a glitched Gumball from TAWOG
▪︎Irl Copies of the For Sara tape - Limited copies of the For Sara tape were sold at two points. They have yet to sell for a third time. (🤞🤞🤞)
▪︎Tome of the Unknown (pilot) - The Pilot of the series. Can be watched on YouTube.
▪︎Wirt Staying in the Unknown - In a scrapped ending, Wirt was to stay in the Unknown, saying that facing your real problems was scarier than staying there.
▪︎Mystery Kids - Crossover AU with other child-late teens aged characters from sources based on mysterious and supernatural themes such as Gravity Falls and Psychonauts.
▪︎Quincy Endicott's grave - Quincy's grave can be seen in the graveyard that Sara and the others are hanging out in.
▪︎Original Beatrice Voice Actress - Beatrice had a different VA in the pilot, Natasha Leggero. Melanie Lynskey voices her in the actual series.
▪︎The Woodsman's Daughter is Named Anna - The comics have several issues focused on his daughter, in which her name is revealed to be Anna.
▪︎Jason Funderburker's Ax Murderer Story - At the gathering in the graveyard, Funderburker is telling a story about a man with an ax; this story is believed to have influenced the existence of the Woodsman.
▪︎Full Versions of Songs in the OST - A handful of the songs are cut down for their appearances in the series and can only be heard in full on the OST. The most notable example is Old Black Train , which is actually 2 minutes and 15 seconds long, but is only in the series for about 15-20 seconds.
Second Layer:
▪︎Sara is named after the Fleetwood Mac song - Listen to it here :) it is notable that it includes lyrics about "drowning in a sea of love" and that Sara is "the poet of [the singer's] heart."
▪︎OTGW Reanimated - a reanimated project for the first episode. Got taken off of YouTube, but can be viewed on Dailymotion.
▪︎Baby Wirt Audio - In the For Sara cassette, there is a small section of audio that can be heard in about the middle of the recording of Wirt's father talking to him as a baby.
▪︎Funderburker/Funderberker - The two Jasons's surnames are spelled slightly differently to avoid confusion.
▪︎The Brothers Never Ate or Needed to Rest - Although Greg expressed being hungry, neither of the boys actually ate anything (outside of one spoonful of bland potatoes and inedible items such as dirt and leaves) and never laid down to rest, only sleeping when night came.
▪︎Book on Interior Design in Wirt's Room - In Wirt's from, a book on interior design can be seen laying on the floor, backing up the knowledge he displayed when analyzing the interconnected mansions.
▪︎Mad Love was Based on a Dream - The plot of Mad Love came from a dream that Pat McHale had about house hunting. In the dream, while exploring one of the houses being shown, he ended up wandering into someone else's home.
▪︎Beatriceoftheday - A blog dedicated to our lord and savior Beatrice, known for its strange shitposts and intense praise of the titular bird girl.
▪︎Wirt is Jealous of Greg's Popularity - Shown in the Circus Friends issue of the comics, Wirt is jealous of Greg's ability to make everyone laugh and have fun. This may factor into his dislike of his brother.
▪︎Greg was Feeding Fred at the Tavern - At first watching, one may be confused as to where all the food Greg was gathering went, why Fred was wearing lipstick and why he was refusing to talk to Beatrice. Shown in a deleted scene, this all explained, as Fred tells Beatrice that he didn't talk to her because Greg was feeding him.
▪︎Elijah Wood Voiced the Crazy Driver - Exactly what is says on the tin, the nutty driver was voiced by Wood.
▪︎Cloud City is Heaven - A popular theory that Cloud City actually represents Heaven.
▪︎Greg is Greg Universe - A headcanon/theory that has mostly died out that Greg is the same Greg in Steven Universe.
▪︎Bee Beatrice - Beatrice was originally cursed to become a bee, but was changed into a bluebird to match better with the seasonal autumn theme.
▪︎Pat McHale Voiced Wirt's Voice Crack - Wirt's voice crack when asking the Beast Are You? was actually done by McHale, not Wood.
▪︎The Other Actors Harassing Elijah Wood When Singing Wirt's Song - In order to make the performance as awkward as possible, the other actors were asked to yell and demand Wirt to sing. This can be heard in the episode.
▪︎Come Wayward Souls Has the Same Melody as O Holy Night - The song shares a cadence with "O Holy Night", and can be sung to its tune.
▪︎Black Turtles Origin/Purpose - No one knows why the black turtles exist, and McHale has said that they're just one of the unexplainable things of the Unknown.
▪︎Anna Never Left the House - In the aforementioned comics, it is shown that Anna had never left the house, living on her own until the Woodsman's return.
▪︎Sailor Suit Greg - Greg originally wore a sailor suit, but was changed later on to his current, Johnny Appleseed inspired outfit .
▪︎Beatrice Missing Being Able to Flip People Off - In the Art Book, Beatrice's introduction states that one of the reasons she hates being a bird is because she no longer has hands to flip people off with.
Third Layer
▪︎Jason Funderberker is Visually Based on a Teen Pat McHale - As seen here, Funderberker was designed after McHale.
▪︎Babes in the Wood is Based on an Old Alice in Wonderland Cartoon - You can view the original 1923 cartoon here! Starts at 4:25.
▪︎Wirt and Sara are Dipper and Mabel's Parents - A popular AU/hc where Dipper and Mabel of Gravity Falls are the future kids of Wirt and Sara.
▪︎The Tune of Wirt's Song is Improvised - In addition to the aforementioned harassment, in a further attempt to make the performance as awkward as possible, Elijah Wood was not given a tune to sing, only the lyrics.
▪︎Wirt's Costume Origin - As said in the art book and on his tumblr, Wirt's cone and cape come from an attempted rock and roll persona from McHale's teen years.
▪︎Greg is Based on Pat McHale's Son - It has been claimed that Greg is based on McHale's son, but Greg existed before him. The similarities are simply coincidental.
▪︎Old Scratch - The original name of the Beast.
▪︎The Beast Killed the Woodsman's Wife - Shown in the comics, The Woodsman's wife was mortally injured, with her attacker implied to be the Beast.
▪︎Wirt and Greg Staying in the Unknown Until Christmas - Another scrapped ending, in which the brothers stay in The Unknown until Christmas, with their absence unexplained.
▪︎Tome of the Unknown (original plot) - Early concepts had the Beast ( then known as Old Scratch as mentioned earlier ) scattering the pages of the titular book for the brothers to collect. Each page would come to life and the brothers would explore each story.
▪︎Dante's Inferno Comparisons - Check out these videos for full analysis!
▪︎Wirt Panty Shots - In the aforementioned Circus Friend comics, Wirt dons a dress as part of a disguise. Later on, he rips off the bottom half off, revealing that he is wearing bloomers.
▪︎The Beast's True Form was Inspired by Trypophobia - As stated in the art book, The Beast's hole-filled appearance was inspired by Trypophobia, the fear of many small holes.
▪︎The Fight is Over is About Drowning - Give the lyrics another read.
▪︎The Beast Last Minute Design Change - The Beast had a very different design, and it was changed into the current one at the last minute.
▪︎Gnome in Cloud City Representing Wirt - Many people believed that the Gnome with the lantern in cloud city was a parallel to Wirt, or a glimpse into his future. However, this was debunked.
▪︎Send Me a Peach - This song is included in the ost, but isn't in the actual series.
▪︎Fred and the Highwayman's Backstory - The comics expand upon the story of Fred the Horse and his involvement with the Highwayman.
Fourth Layer
▪︎Babes in the Wood Title Origin - The name of this episode comes from an old story of a pair of children getting lost in the woods, dying, and being buried in leaves by robins.
▪︎poorlydrawnotgw - This was a blog created during the poorly drawn series meme period. It consisted of poorly drawn and very strange shitposts and has since been deactivated. I was a part of it as mod Goopy Wirt and only have a handful of images saved from it.
▪︎Read and Listen Book Lost Audio - A read and listen book was created, with the book being read by Greg's Frog, who would stop every now and again to talk about being a frog. The pages can be found online, but the audio is currently lost.
▪︎Skinless Witch - A scrapped episode concept involved a skinless witch that kidnapped Greg and rode him like a horse.
▪︎Gentleman Burglar Wirt - A scrapped concept in which Wirt breaks into a woman's home, who is charmed by this young man who has come to visit her.
▪︎Animal Transformation - It was originally planned for Wirt and Greg to be turned into a bear/dog and a duck and remain that way for several episodes. This was later used in the comics.
▪︎The Unknown is influenced by Wirt's mind/interests - The Unknown is influenced by those who walk in it, in this case, Wirt. This includes the old timey mystical nature of it, as Wirt has been stated to have an interest in old folk tales.
▪︎Good Guy Beast/Black Train Scrapped Concept - In an earlier draft, the brothers were on a train, heading to what they assumed was death. They jump off, ending up in the Unknown. The Beast tries to get them back on the train, which turns out to be heading back to life.
▪︎Evil Woodsman - At one point, the Woodsman was intended to be under the influence of the Beast and tried to sabotage the brothers's attempts to return home.
▪︎Lorna Reading the Tome of the Unknown in the Epilogue - In the epilogue, Lorna can be seen reading the titular book from the aforementioned scrapped plot.
▪︎The Beast was Originally the Devil Himself - The Beast was first designed as a devil-like character, the aforementioned Old Scratch.
▪︎The Brothers Never Went Home/The Hospital is Part of The Unknown - a theory based on the fact that the edges of the screen are still blurred at the end of chapter 10, the rushed narration, and the lack of consequences of nearly drowning.
▪︎Beatrice Seeing Wirt Nude - In one of the comics, Beatrice accidentally sees Wirt while he is washing his clothes in the river.
▪︎Sara is a Descendant of Lorna - A theory that Sara is a distant relative of Lorna.
▪︎Exists in the Same Universe as Clarence and Home Movies - The most well known piece of evidence is the overhead shot of the town matching the town that Clarence is set in. Wirt and Greg also have a cameo in another episode, and one of the final episodes shows Brendon Small of Home Movies runs a movie rental store in the town, connecting all three series together.
Final Layer
▪︎Beast x Wirt - Also known as Poetree.
▪︎Candycone - Greg x Wirt.

The Beast's Time-Period? (mini theory)
Hello OTGW fans, I'm here to share something that I found rewatching the miniseries again. Of all the episodes it aired, the oddest seemed to be episode 4 "Songs of the Dark Lantern". Despite the other episodes, the characters portrayed here all have a common theme: titles tied to their roles. There isn't any other episode in which the characters are named after what their job/role in life is: such as the bartender, highwayman, baker, etc. And they're fashion design and architecture appears to be that of approximately in the early 19th century. This is very important because the characters here aren't the only ones named after their roles. There are three others: the woodsman, the woodsman's daughter, and the beast. While I'm sure the woodsman has a name (in the*cough*comic*cough*) the beast himself calls him that. (While the beast doesn't seem the type to ask or remember people's names it still seems odd.) Despite this, the woodsman's clothing (and his daughter) match the time-period compared to the late 19th century themes in the other episodes. While there is no clarification as to the beast being tied to this time bubble, I still find it unconventionally odd how the fourth episode is also the episode where we first meet the beast and find out a little bit of the woodsman's backstory. I don't know. What do you think?

Here’s some question
1. How did you learn about Over The Garden Wall?
2. Do you believe that it was all a dream, or that the boys were in some sort of purgatory, or something else entirely?
3. Who’s your favorite character?
4. What’s your favorite episode?
5. Which episode scared you the most?
I’ll answer these rapid fire! Thank you for all of the great questions.
1. I learned about OTGW briefly seeing it online over the years, but primarily was inspired to watch it by my friend @jo-the-poetic-rock!
2. Call me spiritual (because I am), but I almost find brushing it all off as a dream insulting, both to the concept of spirituality and believing in the intangible as a whole and to the brilliant writers . They were absolutely in purgatory, and everything was real. In every way that counts.
3. Wirt!
4. “The Ringing of the Bell” or “Songs of the Dark Lantern”
5. None? Is that strange? This show doesn’t scare me at all. It feels like home. The tone and aesthetic are comforting to me. I was just... entranced.
