So I read that the dandadan editor made the author read a lot of romance novels and manga to make the characters actually have chemistry. And I want to put my 2 cents and say one of the manga he read was lovely complex. Hear me out, for those of you that haven't read/watch it, lovely complex is a romance comedy manga where a tall girl and a short boy fell in love. They are treated as a comedy duo the majority of the manga and they own it, often making jokes about themselves, also their interactions almost always consist of them insulting each other. Now in the anime it is the girl that falls first, but in the manga there are some panels that let you know that the boy falls first but doesn't really realise. I've seen the anime 5/6 times and I've read the manga 3'5 times and when I see okarun and mono interact I see otani and risa at the beginning of lovely complex. It has made me love dandadan so much because it reminds me so much of one of my favourite animes ever.

finally reading lovely complex after watching the anime years ago and it’s bringing back all the cozy, giggly feelings i had. shoujos like this are so comforting to me! i love romance so much so this is such a fun read!!! love koizumi and otani so much!!! they’re so silly and fun! koizumi especially is so relatable to me. currently on chapter 10 and i’m feeling so giddy & happy. romance really is the perfect medicine for me. I LOVE LOVELY COMPLEX!!
