Nope! That is actually what gender ideology says. I have to do this. More posts to come about this, but this is a quick post from my twitter about everything that happened with Sad Milk.: This context is entirely from twitter, with the expectation Blair will see it.

I think it’s time that I actually speak out on the current twitter threads regarding Sad Milk. I cannot express how scared I am to do this, the fear I have in my gut to even speak out. However, I do feel it’s important to say my peace on this subject matter.

Yeah, it’s a mess, but the tweet threads posted by wonder and Click, and what they have stated about Sad Milk is the truth. I will be adding those threads below.

The whole project was a mess. From start to finish. I really wish I didn’t need to do this, but with the flurry of Dm’s I’ve been getting, I don’t have a choice but to speak out.

Blair, I’m sorry, but you have hurt me. I need to speak without being told by you “Oh I’m just the villain? I’m always in the wrong?” or something along those lines. Words I have heard from you consistently. I want to be heard for once. I need to clear my mind and conscious after holding this in for 2 years. Forgive me, but it's what needs to be done. When looking at the whole of the project, it was mostly controlled and run by Blair. 

Her main worry was that because of her, in her words, "Lack of Personality" she felt as though her contribution to sadmilk needed to be the managerial bureaucracy behind the scenes to justify her presence. This led to a defensive approach when anyone would attempt to assist with the nitty gritty behind the scenes. (Despite her claiming that no one wanted to help her. One of the factors she claims to be the final nail in the coffin of Sad Milk). Blair was indeed the aggressor. She always has been. As an example of this behavior, look at the legal eagle situation. Blair has the habit of starting fights, but will almost never publicly apologize if proven wrong.

She will instead hide behind a private apology probably, and from my perspective, act as though this makes everything better. Afterall, she would express to me that admitting error would only make her look stupid and weak.

This will be followed by her blocking people on twitter, silencing her detractors through youtube channel bans, deleting comments, and putting her accounts on the downlow to prevent interaction. For example, on Sad Milk, she would blacklist former collaborators from being mentioned, but manually approve hateful comments towards them, which in my opinion, were specifically ones which instead praised her or the remaining members. Including me. This is her MO. It has been for the 4 years that I’ve known her. It actually perfectly ties into how we first met and began to be on speaking terms in April of 2019. Sadmilk was very much like this. At the first sign of dissonance, her response was to have me confront OT and Click with this list of talking points in an attempt to show them just how wrong they were. Which I accepted. This brings me to, well. Me. What is missing from both Click and Wonders threads, is that fact that I acted as Blairs front runner. Anything Blair needed to say went through me first. Essentially act as a spokesman. This was actually a common factor in our relationship. 

I would always act as a filter to keep her out of drama or from saying things which would be seen as offensive or kindle for a larger fire. I stopped doing this in January. This does not excuse me from protecting her for this long, but it is the truth. I could take the approach and say I was manipulated. Which, perhaps I was, but I still knew what I was doing was wrong. I always did, and it always hurt. It left a huge blackmark on my spirit and my ability to feel comfortable in my own skin. I had moved to Colorado, got a house, and lived with her at the time. She was in my life every day and I would hear these theories and villainous explanations directed at anyone who “wronged” her. It was hard to avoid, let alone not fall for them. I believed it was my responsibility to protect my friend from something that, in my view, was clearly hurting her, something that I felt was eating at her and making her daily life worse. Things which in hindsight, could have been solved with a conversation she was unwilling to have. Instead the conspiring, backstabbing, and rumor machine were put into full swing. I, much as wonder and Salty, were forced by Blair to choose between her or Click and OT. Of course I chose the person I lived with. What was I going to do? Move again? I mean I could have.. Once I chose my side, I was met with praise and adoration from her and her modstaff. It, at the time, felt like I was making the right decision. Fuck man. Boy was I wrong. I’ve lost so many friends, isolated myself, been at her side despite feeling like my connections to the world were being severed. I always acted as her talking piece, from yelling at One Topic, to berating click, and other things I did in service of someone who at the time, I believed every word of. I trusted Blair to hell and back and thought I was doing good. I have learned since then, through both self reflection and conversations with old friends, just how much I was (unintentionally, hopefully) used. 

There, of course, is more. Much more. More than I could ever hope to cram into this stupid fucking twitter thread that I know I’m going to get angry DMs and phone calls over. 

Blair. I need you to know that YOU hurt me. More than you realize. I know you’re scanning this and having your team read over it. Maybe even looking at sending me a legal threat as you parade around to do so. But I want you to apologize for once in your life and take accountability. Please. Blair, you would rather paint the world red than admit you have fault.

OT: Been a lot the past few months with my son. Five seizures and two hospital stays since March 31. We finally got EEG results and now MRI plus a specialist of course has to be 3 hours away. Hoping the new meds that are being started will help this time around. Been a lot of worry going around our family. At this moment he bouncing around and seems to be back to his normal self. This one did take me in shock. I didn’t expect this one fully even though I try and keep YouTubers at arms length after half my childhood YouTubers turned out to be abusers in several different ways. The amount of manipulation that was at play here is absurd.

I used to consume a lot of her content, I wouldn’t be posting this if I hadn’t. I mainly had said content on in the background while I was doing housework or just in general as background noise. I thought she seemed like she did her research or at least had a team of people doing research, and that was fine.

What happened here was a classic case of having an ego bigger than yourself. Ignoring the obvious cases (SadMilk) we take a look at LegalEagle. She obviously jumped to Twitter the first chance she got and just immediately blew her shit because she thought she owned a very popular style of editing. And then her apology was lackluster. That is certainly not new for the commentary space, it happens quite often. But not quite often is when people take that opportunity to bring up the fact that she is indeed, not a great person.

When The Click’s video came out, I watched it in its entirety. Granted I was also playing Minecraft, but I was listening and would tab back in to see the evidence. To see YouTubers such as Click, OT, and Wonder, three very goofy dudes take such a serious tone in a video is astounding to see. Especially considering Wonder does not like to show his face. The venerability they showed in front of the camera knowing that this was their chance to come out with this while Blaire was under fire already shows that they had been afraid to speak up beforehand. Disputes in the CC are very very frequent, but this is the first time I’ve seen something go from 0 to 100 so quickly. It even had Critikal talking about it, and Critikal doesn’t typically cover this type of stuff often.

If you take in to example Click’s heavy breathing, Wonder’s fidgeting, and OT’s googly eyes, you can still see the kind of fear they were under. Wonder was manipulated quite harshly by Blaire and she aimed to destroy their friendship’s quite harshly. I have seen a few takes regarding Click calling him not a good source due to his use of slurs in the past. Click did not speak English as a first language and learned English around the time YouTube was in a certain phase where shockvalue ran rampant across the platform. I do see how Click’s words could have been very different to the societal norms now because socially, things were indeed different then. Obviously, Click has grown as a person as we all have and apologized for his offensive content.

Blaire hiring people to dig up dirt on all three of them shows that she herself couldn’t find anything wrong with what was going on by herself. She was looking for ANY REASON to call them not credible sources. She was looking for any reason to deflect anger back at them. She obviously failed. Her views took a huge hit as she chose to ignore the drama instead of address it or do us all a favor and just leave YouTube.

Let’s look at her views. Her video titled “Noom is Lying” has 271k views right now. This video is the one directly before “iiluminaughtii exposed” which currently stands at 1.1 M views. Her views slowly decrease until her most recent video, “Hershey’s Dark Secrets” currently stands at only 17k views. She used to average a couple hundred thousand views per video, and now she is only receiving maybe a handful of thousands of views. She is fading into obscurity. She clearly, as stated by her before, has enough to retire happily at such a young age. She should just do that before she gets butthurt about fading into obscurity.

Also the fact that she subbotted a YouTube channel to accuse RSlash of subbotting is hilarious considering he still racks in more views than she does and he doesn’t have a whole team of people he has to hire to complete his videos.

With how Soul Eater is a kitchen sink of horror, fantasy and sci-fi stuff, do you think that there still could have been stuff adedded that wouldnt have "fitted"? Like for exampel things like aliens that actually come from another planet and arent just some monsters that look like extra terestials?

If you’ll indulge me in a bit of a diatribe…

This is why I thoroughly enjoy getting to make headcanon and worldbuilding with people like elliotthezubat, who just combines so many various elements from a range of genres and works…

…and why I was so pissed that Ohkubo reduced the world of Soul Eater to just “a 17-year-old remade our real world into a cartoon.” 

The approach I prefer taking in fan creations or interpreting Soul Eater is similar to what Greg Weisman did with Gargoyles or what a game like Smite does: if it exists in legend, if happened. Before Fire Force, Excalibur and King Arthur existed. Before Fire Force, Poseidon was in Soul Eater. 

But after Fire Force? Excalibur is not the legendary Excalibur: he is just some sword made from a spaceship metal and got imbued with life by extradimensional shenanigans. After Fire Force, Arthur Pendragon doesn’t exist--it’s just Arthur Boyle. After Fire Force, given how many characters there are named after godly figures (Vulcan, Charon), someone named “Poseidon” in Soul Eater is probably just some person named Poseidon, not the literal Poseidon. (Granted, maybe I should have figured that out when some guy named Tezca Tlipoca just showed up and wasn’t(?) the actual Tezcatlipoca.) 

That diatribe out of the way, to answer your question: 

Before Fire Force, I thought just about anything short of extraterrestrials and extradimensional beings could work in Soul Eater. (Yes, we can debate whether in canon witches count as being from a different dimension.) Ohkubo in Soul Eater was pulling so much from religions and mythologies and legends (Anubis, Poseidon, Arthur Pendragon), horror movies (the designs on some of Noah’s monsters, Blair’s name), magic (witches), the occult (Lovecraftian references), that it seemed just about anything could fit in this setting. 

It’s why, when Ohkubo decided to bring in aliens and other dimensions into Fire Force, that felt like he was going in a new direction and trying to make that work distinct from Soul Eater as its own thing, to add elements that weren’t in Soul Eater and, as I am trying to say above, would not really fit well tonally or in terms of worldbuilding. 

Then we saw how Fire Force wrapped up, so now aliens and other dimensions are canon in Soul Eater--and I don’t think it fits. Suddenly all of this magic in Soul Eater was just aliens all along. 

Either you set this up early on, like in the first few chapters, so that people don’t freak out and panic that you’re just tossing in anything from the kitchen sink (how Eastman and Laird just tossed in the Utroms to the Ninja Turtles’ origin story in the first few chapters of that series--and, hey, like Ohkubo grafting Fire Force onto Soul Eater, this was how Eastman and Laird grafted their Fugitoid outer space story onto their more popular but Earth-based Ninja Turtles series), or you spend a long-ass time setting that up (ironically, going with the same Ninja Turtles story but a different spin on it, it took an entire season before Laird and the team at 4Kids with the 2003 Ninja Turtles series before introducing the Utroms, and numerous episodes before they started to introduce other genetic mutations, extraterrestrials, time travelers, alternate dimensions and alternate timelines, monsters, and gods). 

(Or, how the Arrowverse managed to shift gears from “Arrow is a gritty crime story rooted in realism” to “Arrow takes place alongside wacky sci-fi shenanigans in The Flash along with magic that we took by grafting Constantine onto Legends of Tomorrow.)

To make that incongruous stuff fit, you have to pick a strategy to get there. I think creators like elliotthezubat figured out how to add aliens and other dimensions very well--and some of that owes to really thinking through headcanon, lore, and narrative, and some of that benefits from building your world not just out of Soul Eater but also through crossovers with it (how elliotthezubat writes Soul Eater is by making a lot of cross-franchise works--so, if you want some detail, bit of history, lore, tone, or emotion that isn’t already in Soul Eater proper, boom, just toss in characters and settings from Madoka Magica or Blue Exorcist until you get the characters and settings that give you that history, lore, tone, or emotion you’re looking for but couldn’t get out of Soul Eater by itself). 

Could Soul Eater have added more sci-fi stuff like other dimensions and aliens earlier? Yeah. But it never felt like a science-based story--so to suddenly add more sci-fi stuff, for me, would have felt tonally off. Even Stein is someone whose scientific pursuits are taking what we think of as spiritual and turning it into an actual science: like the titular character from Shelley's Frankenstein, Stein struck me more like a magician than a scientist--we never learn how Stein made Sid into a zombie, it just happens, like magic. You’d need to have introduced characters earlier who are into more traditional sci-fi stuff to make that sci-fi stuff easier to tackle and not feel tacked on.

And, honestly, aside from Gen making the airship towards the end of the manga, Buttataki in the anime making the Death City Mech, and Stein making the robotic duplicate of Eternal Feather, there wasn’t a lot of typical sci-fi stuff in Soul Eater--and even what I pointed to just now was either introduced too late into the story, introduced in the anime that was part of a controversial gecko ending, or introduced in a spinoff that is contentious amongst some fans. Even some machinery in Soul Eater like the golems and Eibon's inventions are presented as pretty much just magic.
