Hey so I got a little inspired, a bit boring but kind of a hurt/comfort fic about Oz rehashing his history with his brother reluctantly and having some flashbacks to memories he doesn't want to remember too good. All with the help of his partner (reader) comforting him through it.
That being said I tried to make the fic as gender neutral as possible. I'm gay, but I know there are a ton of women who love Ozzy just like me 😊 also sorry if it's a bit boring or bland. This is my first fic in a while after writers block!!! That being said I'm dyslexic so go easy on me with typos (I swear I'm getting better 😵💫😂)

Thinking about EM2's ending. And the brothers. Mostly, Mickey's deep love and respect for Oswald.
Had Oswald not been there in the end for the final fight, Mickey would've cooked the Doc and leave him to die. This is a hill I'll die on.
Like- ugh- I'm kinda struggling to put it into simpler words so I'm kinda gonna story it.
Like Mickey sees Oswald getting grabbed by the Mad Doctor, trying to pull him down into the thinner pool and sees a bit of red (or even green in this case) and rushes forward to rescue his brother. His brother, who wanted to stay behind to rescue the villain. They could've gotten out if they left the Doctor behind. But Oswald still desperately wanted to save him.
Mickey was geared to use thinner after hearing the Mad Doctor's mocking laugh as Mickey relentlessly tries to free Oswald from the animatronic's grip. He was so ready to put an end to the horrid man who messed with and manipulated so many toons, but especially his dear big brother.
But in that last second, he thought of Oswald who he was trying to save. Oswald, who so deeply believed in redemption and second chances. Oswald, who even after being betrayed over and over again, still reached a hand out to the enemy who hurt him in places that still felt so raw to touch. Like his fear of abandonment and his feelings of inadequacy.
Oswald, despite it all, still wanted to save the Mad Doctor. Oswald, who had the most to be angry about, still picked mercy above everything else.
So in that last second, Mickey squashed down the raging Blot inside him and chose Paint. Not because of his own goodness. But because of Oswald's. Oswald's mercy and deep belief in redemption and Mickey's deep respect for his dear big brother's beliefs was what saved the Mad Doctor in the end.
#epic mickey#mickey mouse#oswald the lucky rabbit#i think the mad doc knows this as well#thats why he thanks oswald at the end instead of mickey#doc is aware enough that if it were really up to mickey- the mouse wouldn't even have tried to release him like oswald did#mickey would kill and redeem for oswald because he loves his brother so much#em2 really cooked delicious meals when it came to mickey and oswald and their dynamic

Ummm thoughts about Ed’s NPD and BPD? Interested to hear especially after reading your fic
AAAAA THANK YOU FOR READING IT!!!!! with my worldview of Ed having both I feel like his NPD is more prominent and noticeable, it's his first go-to when it comes to his defenses even if he is hiding it (aka season one, I would say he is more overt in his narcissistic vulnerability while covert in his grandiosity in that season, he flip flops around a lot in his presentation on his narcissism in the series buttttt from what I can remember he goes back and forth from hiding his grandiosity but not hiding his vulnerability to hiding his vulnerability but not his grandiosity.) his bpd came first to me, and since most people dont like those traits and he often gets maniuplated for them, he tries to repress it and focus on his narcissism. his npd also keeps him from splitting on himself more often too, both borderlines and narcissists often times see everything as either good or bad, you either are all good or your all bad, which is why treatment is often very hard for both of these groups because no one is all good or all bad. this is why narcissists try to avoid anything that shows a flaw in how they view themselves, they cannot have done a bad thing, since doing a bad thing means they are a bad person, their defenses are more stable and hard to overcome than a borderlines because of this.
i think a easy way to tell is how people with npd and people with bpd split. since npd is more so focused on the self and maintaining the ego, theres three catergories of viewing relationships instead of just two. the first one is someone to perform to, someone to get easy praise from and being able to keep your self essteem in check so you can still feel good about yourselves ( i dont think i need to state here that narcissistss dont actually love themselves, only the image they are trying to contain, this kind of splitting can also be seeing the person theyre performing for as a equal but its not really close, its more superficial ). the two other types are more devaluing, the second kind of narcisstic splitting is seeing someone as someone to inghore, someone who just does not get it and is too stupid too ever get it, the thrid one is the most simliar to borderline splitting since it sees the other as a predator, someone trying to sabotage and hurt them and trying to vitcimize them.
bpd splitting is more so focused on the other, seeing them as someone who is just perfect and you want to know everything about them and always make them happy and how they're just perfect, to them being someone being an abuser manipulator who never cared or loved them in the first place. both of these kinds of splitting are similar in structure but still different, narcissism still mostly focuses on the self while borderline focuses more on the other, narcissism as a defense mechanism is more so focused on the superficial while borderline is more focused on the personal.
when you apply this logic to how ed splits on people, then you kinda start to see this way of performing to keep his ego in check just does not apply to how he treated oswald! his attempts to please him and to help him were exteremly self sacfricial and often put his life on the line! he didnt need to do all of this for oswald to get oswald's praise and admiration, what he does for oswald is more simliar to a borderline wanting to do anything for their favorite person and showcase how much they care for them than a narcissist thinking they met an equal which brings their self essteem up! in the end of how the riddler got his name ed said he based his whole self worth on oswald, and instead of letting himself grieve normally, he tells himself he doesnt need anyone anymore and that hes fine now. the narcissism took over, it didnt even let him fully grieve. he didnt see oswald as just someone to bring his ego up like he did with kristen he didnt reduce oswald's existence to just that, oswald was the only person who ever loved or cared for him and was this amazing figure who ended up being someone who never actually loved him and was only using him in ed's eyes.
i would argue his relationship with lee was more so borderline too, she was the only person he was close to and was the only person who could take his shit during that whose collapse of his ego. he genuinely cared for her and was willing to kill himself out of paranoia he would hurt her! that is not narcissism, he did have narcissistic intentions with their relationship at the start of season four, but it changes into the codependency similarly to what he had with Oswald, only this time being a bit more one sided
That's why ed sticks to his narcissistic defenses more, because, to Ed, this is the only way you can love someone! you can only ever fully love someone if you would basically cut off your whole arm for them just to give them a gift, there are no boundaries! if he only acts selfish in his relationships then he will end up killing them like he did with Kristen too, so as a cope he pretends he doesn't want or desire close relationships during the later seasons, trying to paint himself as a cold logician just so he can have some admiration and praise and love but only from a distance since he knows if he gives too much, something like what happened with Oswald might happen again, and if he takes too much, something like what happened with Kristen might happen again. an Oswald will lead him into being weak and dumb, and a Kristen will lead him into being a monster who only exists to leech off and hurt others. if he just doesn't date then he can never experience either event again and can brush them off like they say nothing about him.
IDK if this whole thread makes any lick of sense, I don't think he was being borderline with Kristen but I do think he realized she was a real person with her own beliefs and opinions only after he killed her, which caused him to panic and repress any guilt or grief he had for the incident and convince himself it was no one's fault and was just destined to happen. Edward is terrible at accepting he did something awful or has emotions and needs, so he represses whatever he feels that conflicts with the image he has of himself and thinks that will be his permanent solution when it always fails him after a few months. he basically ignores and represses his borderline until he finds someone who seems like they are amazing to him which is just. kinda explodes all over the place I AM SO SORRY THAT HIS WHOLE EXPLANATION SUCKS ASS I HOPE I MADE MYSELF CLEAR ASK QUESTIONS IF I WAS UNCLEAR!!!!

Made some stuff of my second AU the other day!! Also lore about the second AU is below the cut!
BLUE | HE/HIM | BIXSEXUAL
-This man is a bit of a control freak who has a unhealthy way of simping for Green, bro got some anger issues like first AU Blue but,,,,kinda more...worse???? Like bro got mad that Green rejected him on his first confession and well blinded the poor thing. He is still dumb in this AU--but his strength makes up for it. He also ripped off Green's arms,,,,because of some,,,certain things, not things that involving his feelings for Green. Blue likes to constantly remind the others of things, mostly bad things. Bro is traumatized but like- he don't care????
GREEN | HE/THEY | BISEXUAL | TRANSGENDER
-Green isn't as shy or nervous as first AU Green, but he's extra more reserved than other him. He has a crush on Red but like,,,,he can't confess or do anything about it without Blue constantly butting into his personal space and flirt with him, he absolutely and rightfully despises Blue. He often tries to ignore Blue's attempts after he was blinded all because he tried to reject him. Green is extremely violent when he's pissed, which also has ended up of getting him into situations he can't get out of. Such as his arms getting ripped off. He is extra traumatized because Blue happened <3
ORANGE | HE/THEY | ???
-Orange is,,,,something. Bro's always hungry like his first AU self but sort of,,,worse??? He usually wears a muzzle whenever he's around the others, especially Red or Yellow. He's head over heels for Cyan, constantly wants attention and affection from her. If he gets told no or smth from her, he will be sad and enters a bit of depressed state for a little while and after that, he tries again. He doesn't get violent nor does whatever Blue does, he just gets sad. He doesn't really like Yellow because he thinks he's a coward.
PURPLE | IT/THEY/ANY | PANSEXUAL | GENDERFLUID
-Purple...oh dear- they mostly have their eyes closed due to Blue ruthlessly messing up their vision but their not entirely blind, they are insane as hell and is usually in the vents. Waiting for their next victim. They don't really care for everyone's feelings and is mostly lonely, they like to talk to rats or smth. They imagine things that aren't really there, and they always stalk the others and loves scaring them all.
RED | HE/THEY | GAY | TRANSGENDER
-Oh my god, this man is traumatized. Forcefully too. Blue usually targets him mostly so the poor guy,,,,is a fucking mess, he's not insane but he's paranoid as fuck. He is often seen in his lab, office or around Green. Considering how Green is the only somewhat sane/normal one around the play place. He isn't really a people pleaser like his other self but he's definitely a nervous wreck, he still tries to be brave and sometimes succeeds but Blue puts him back in his place.
CYAN | SHE/IT/THEY | ??? | NONBINARY
-Cyan has quite a temper, more than her first AU self. She constantly acts like she's the boss of Odd World, almost like Blue. She is extremely aggressive and hostile towards Yellow, and often rejects Orange's attempts. Not having any interest in him. She sometimes like to manipulate Yellow or poor Pink.
YELLOW | HE/SHE | BISEXUAL | TRANSGENDER
-Yellow, poor guy, is the only somewhat sane one in Odd World. He hates Cyan, he usually hangs around Pink because he feels more safer with her even if Pink is no longer...herself. He tries to be there for her, he doesn't really like Orange either. He wants things to be,,,,somewhat normal or less tense.
OSWALD | HE/IT | PANSEXUAL | TRANSGENDER
-Not much about Oswald other then he's dead. He is still Red's father in this AU but it's unclear of what happened to him or how he died.
TRENTON | HE/HIM | BISEXUAL
-Trenton is currently in hiding due to the rainbow friends being so aggressive or mentally unstable in someways, he is trying to figure out what happened to Oswald but doesn't know that his best friend boyfriend is dead. He will visit Yellow mostly since Yellow is the least threatening rainbow friend and is the more,,,,normal one than Green is.
PINK | SHE/THEY/IT | BISEXUAL | NONBINARY
-Pink and Blue are still siblings in this AU, her ex-boyfriend is still Red but those two relationship was more wholesome and more lovey dovey, the two broke up due to Blue's controlling ways. Traumatizing Red and hurting Pink. Pink doesn't have a leg and half of her face was torn due to Blue wanting his sister to be like him in someways, she's sort of-- his personal punching bag if you really think about this. She still has feelings for Red but can't do anything. Poor gal is traumatized and just wants to escape from Blue's wrath, she is thankful that Yellow keeps her company but is...a bit mentally out of it.

Spiderdemon AU Funfacts
We interrupt the AU drama with some funfact bits for the Spiderdemon AU. So I hope you enjoy!!
-When Bendy first became Spiderdemon, he didn't expect to get fans. Holly’s one thing because he knows she's naturally curious and likes doing research on things, but he was surprised when Boris nearly shoved his phone in his face to show him people were making videos, drawings, MEMES, etc about Spiderdemon.
Since Boris tends to work on the computer the most he spams Bendy with Spiderdemon fan stuff he finds that he thinks Bendy gets a kick out of. Bendy finds it entertaining, and makes a blog or something to save all this spiderdemon stuff. Sometimes taking pictures of himself when he's out patrolling to post online.
People start wondering if his blog is run by spiderdemon, but thanks to Boris' awesome computer skills, no one can get any proof. XD
-Felix is well aware Bendy’s Spiderdemon.
He figured it out when Bendy was with him when he was visiting a museum for work, but someone attacked the museum, Bendy vanished, and Spiderdemon showed up, using a clearly fake voice to tell Felix his kid is perfectly safe.
Although irritated that Bendy’s been lying to his face, he understands why, and from then on pretends not to notice Bendy sneaking in and out when Spiderdemon is needed.
The moment he hears about Spiderdemon out saving the day though he turns on the news and anxiously watches and hopes Bendy doesn't get hurt.
-Oswald and Felix start dating shortly before Bendy goes to college. The two of them connected when Bendy and Ortensia were in the hospital, and Felix helped Oswald through his grief after he lost his wife. Oswald and Mickey always welcomed Felix and the boys over for family meals and Bendy and Boris would occasionally babysit Oswald's kids.
Oswald gets a sneaking suspicion that Bendy's Spiderdemon, and that suspicion is confirmed when he temporarily comes out of retirement and meets Spiderdemon up close as the Lucky Rabbit. He comes out of retirement initially to, convince, Spiderdemon to help him right a wrong.
Aka trick him into helping him steal something from some extremely shady and dangerous people.
Bendy would be MAAAAAD. Boris ends up listening through the suit's communication system as Bendy rants angerly over how he's going to find Lucky Rabbit someday, kick his cussing but, and throw him in cussing jail!
However, the next day, Bendy's surprised to find out the thing Lucky Rabbit tricked him into helping him steal, was actually something Lucky Rabbit stole from Felix many years ago, and he wanted to steal it back to secretly return it. Bendy would be confused, and still kinda mad, but he's glad that his and Boris' adoptive father is happy.
Despite knowing Bendy is rightfully angry at him for his manipulative trick as Lucky Rabbit, Oswald makes sure to keep an eye on the news in case Spiderdemon needs help while saving the town.
-since Boris isn't exactly a big fan of spiders, he's not exactly a fan of Bendy's shapeshifting powers when he can make himself into a giant spider demon.
He's not scared of Bendy when he does that, but it does make him cussing SHUDDER. (like imagine having a fear of clowns and a loved one has to dress like one for some reason. That would give anyone the heebie jeebies)
Then when Holly is in on Bendy’s identity, and starts asking him about his powers, she asks him if Bendy can communicate with spiders, and possibly summon an army of spiders.
Boris straight up got out of his seat, and walked out of the room going "Nopenopenopenope."
Holly: Maybe I should have saved that question for later...
Bendy: Boris come back! I'm 90% sure I can't summon spiders!
Thanks to Holly putting that thought in Boris' head, Boris now brings a can of spider repellent when Bendy’s trying to work on his powers and trying to see if he can tap into new ones.
-When Bendy officially moved into his college dorm, both he and Boris were kinda emotional over the fact that they're not going to be around each other in person daily. Boris absolutely cried and Bendy tried his best not to tear up as they hugged each other bye after Boris and Felix finished helping Bendy move into his dorm.
Later that night though they called each other over the phone. They make sure to talk daily and Bendy comes home during the weekends to stay the night and spend time with his family (when villains aren't threatening the town and keeping him busy).
-safe to say Boris would be kinda giving Cuphead the cold shoulder after learning he's Red Diamond because of how often he hurt his brother in fights.
But he would be curious about Venom. Cuphead probably notices how Boris actually acknowledges his existence again when Venom comes up in conversation.
Cuphead: You wanna say hi?
Boris: .... Is he going to bite?
Cuphead: Nah, he just ate.
Venom: *smacks Cuphead in the head*
Cuphead: Gah! *rubs his head and rolls his eyes* We also have a strict "no hurting kids" code.
-When out as Spiderdemon, if villains aren't attacking, Bendy delivers food to homeless people on the streets. He remembers how rough it was for him and Boris when they were on the streets before Felix took them in so he'd want to help out when he can.
-Cuphead for the longest time thought Bendy’s tail and horn were part of Bendy’s spiderdemon costume.
So imagine his confusion when he knows Bendy’s identity, and notices his tail coming out of seemingly nowhere to pick up a gear or something he dropped when working on something.
Cuphead: You wear your costume tail all the time? Doesn't it get uncomfortable?
Bendy: .... *doesn't break eye contact as he shape shifts his spider demon horns to come out*
Cuphead: HOLY CUSS THEY’RE REAL?!
Bendy: You know I can shape shift! How is this surprising to you?!

"the flowers listen. and sometimes, if you're quiet, they'll even speak to you."
riley keough + cis woman + she/her ✧ welcome to new york, pamela isley (poison ivy) ! as a thirty-five year old ‘villain’ you’re no doubt itching to get back to your laboratory — but first, if you could repeat your story for the record. you woke up on new year’s day with poisonous lipstick beside you, right ? and you were dreaming about taking over robinson park to protect the green ? thank you for your answers, and we’ll be in touch soon.
canon: mainly new earth with prime earth influences ( see: new 52 did some weird things but brother it sure gave one helluva backstory ).
AT A GLANCE:
full name: dr. pamela lillian isley, phd alias: poison ivy age: 35 birthday: assigned march 14th by dc ( assigned pisces by dc ! ) gender: cis woman pronouns: she/her sexual orientation: bisexual romantic orientation: homoromantic career: botanist -- and the occasional eco-terrorist! notable traits: green hue, often wears gloves due to her poisonous touch ( which some characters, such as harley quinn and inexplicably harvey dent, have an immunity to ) threat level: high
SCRATCH IT:
affiliations: herself, the green, gotham city sirens (past), the injustice gang (past) birds of prey (past) (new 52) abilities: chlorokinesis, pheromone control, toxikinesis, toxic immunity, skin pigment manipulation, decelerated aging, regeneration weapons: n/a strengths: genius level intellect, see all abilities listed above weaknesses: sun deprivation ( tbh new-52 explored that in a really interesting way but like... it's across the canons ), instability
DIG DEEPER:
*all following connections are liable to change depending on muns ! positive personal connections: harley quinn, selina kyle, alec holland/swamp thing complicated personal connections: bruce wayne/batman, barbara gordon/batgirl, pretty much the entire batfam, oswald cobblepot/penguin, edward nigma/the riddler, harvey dent/two-face negative personal connections: jason woodrue/floronic man, joker
DIG REAL DEEP:
* expansion will be offered through task ! ( the lipstick is very important, mhm. ) mother: dead, murdered by ivy's father :\ father: dead, murdered by ivy <3 cause of ability manifestation: an experiment with/by jason woodrue gone wrong
ABILITY & WEAKNESS EXPANSION:
chlorokinesis: the ability to control and communicate with all plant life. through this, she is able to speak to a force called The Green ( a force swamp thing and floronic man can also communicate with ) and... you know... be their voice, but in a pretty violent manner :\
pheromone control: seduction turned up to eleven. even if she was in a pink gorilla suit ( a la 1997 cinematic feat batman & robin ), if she chooses to emit her pheromones, you are brainwashed under the sexy spell to do her bidding !
toxikinesis: makes it so she, as a plant-person, is literally toxic to the touch. literal 'kiss of death' ! hence why i decided she wears gloves in this universe, mhm.
toxic immunity: immune to toxins...
skin pigment manipulation: as a plant-person, she is naturally very green :\ but she's able to manipulate her dna to make her skin... like, human-passing ! still a lil green, but only if you're really looking !
decelerated aging: that plant dna is a real treat ! as long as she maintains solar energy ( and doesn't get murdered <3 ), she's expected to live longer and age slower than the average human.
regeneration: because she's part plant... she's kinda like those lizard that get their arm hacked off then a new arm just... grows in its place. that's ivy.
genius level intellect: girlie-pop has a phd and keeps getting smarter by the minute!
-
sun deprivation: if she's deprived of the sun/natural light for too long, she, like a plant, withers and becomes weakened. ( like i said, new 52 actually had an arc that explored this in a super interesting way -- i can't remember what the run was, but it was with barbara and it took her through the seasons without directly saying what was going on until the end in winter... like, new 52 did something right with that and with ivy's revamped backstory ! also her design was really cool but... i digress. )
instability: honestly i just lifted this from the wikia page bc it makes me chuckle. she's part of the batman rogues gallery, so you can bet that she's a lil unstable !

penguin #2 kinda sucks lol. but it's Tom king so I wasn't expecting much- mostly just got it cause I'll read anything with Oswald in it.
it's like. idk. it's executed competently it's just boring and more of the same and still without much depth for oz more than "he's an evil old man". like he is but the reasons they assign it to are sooo. not it.
he might kill someone's servants for refusing him, yes, but I think the whole idea of "it's because someone who's a servant must always remain a servant" in his mind doesn't really make sense....? he's vengeful & petty, so I think he would take that action as a power play, and little else. I'm not even saying he'd be nice to his staff, but rather I think the idea that "once someone is seen as being in a 'lesser position'they must always stay that way" is dumb. he wouldn't say that, he would want to keep his power over the previous butler assassin guy, but not on account of butler guy must always be a butler. just because it's what Oswald wants and what Oswald wants happens because he's going to dedicate himself to it. that being said yeah he'd probably say whatever he felt would encourage the other guy to work for him, no matter how manipulative or intimidating, but like .....idk.
It feels like the characterization is leaning into "Evil Rich Guy" again which is what I don't like. penguin is indeed obsessed with the trappings of wealth & luxury, but not because he actually holds those beliefs (particularly in like multiple backgrounds his family either 1. is not particularly wealthy OR 2. he's been ousted or estranged from them from a young age)- it's because he's obsessed with anything that earns him respect or a semblance of power or control, which wealth and the visible signs of it do,
as well as separates him from the animalistic perception others have of him because he is not conventionally attractive and sometimes disabled (depends on the writer) and repeatedly othered, he's working extra hard to always disprove this idea, to always prove he is Civilized and Human and Belongs in Society. fancy clothes and houses and cars and Things help him do this, in addition to having enough wealth to force people to tolerate him when they otherwise wouldn't (he's been taught that people will not accept him no matter what he does, even if he is kinder and amicable and personable, because of how he looks, so he has given up on trying to be accepted in the ways most people do).
this is why Evil Rich Guy because Capitalism Bad and He's Greedy or whatever really fucking sucks. (and while I am non jewish this also pairs really really badly with antisemitic readings of the character, so I just recommend not writing him like that.)

bit late but if ur still taking them…8,9,10,11,15,25 for gen…..🥺🥺
8. If your OC were to live in some other time period, which era would they be best suited for?
idk how much of this is my own preference for the 1920s, but i think if you stuck gen in 1920, she would’ve had fun w the spiritualism boom & the flapper dresses… her hair would look cute short.. <333
9. If your OC were to imagine their idyllic life (realistically or otherwise) what would it be like?
she would have a garden and a greenhouse (dedicated to the more “specific” plants she has, meant for different climates), a cat or two, m..married to oswald… raising gil, vince, and alice/alyss as her own. maybe they’d go on trips to the seaside and she’d be pointing out all sorts of creatures and phenomenons to them. they’d have a cute house, kinda messy in a lived-in way, but ultimately things aren’t too bad (oswald and gil get stressed if it is). gen’s finally got friends and all the baskervilles love her. they come and visit frequently. she can finally experience closeness with people in the way she never could before, and she’s not seen as odd or off-putting. yeah..
10. What piece of moody poetry or novel quote best encompasses your character?
there’s that one tumblr post i keep thinking of where it’s something along the lines of “which one of us died?” in reference to bringing someone back frm the dead & i think that’s very genwald… when i was looking stuff up, though, i found one from oscar wilde that said, “she lives the poetry she cannot write.” & tbh i think that’s sorta her… yeah!!!
11. Who is your muse’s muse? (What or whom inspires/drives them?)
plant life cycles…. bugs…. definitely in a more controlled environment, but she won’t shy away from hikes!!! i think she’s very fascinated by the nature of things and what determines that (also why she gets so confused by ppl sometimes… wonder what that says abt her!!)
15. What is a common misconception about your OC? (Alternatively, what do people assume about them which is either incorrect or misconstrued?)
ummm that she’s either really uppity or that she’s insanely manipulative (to the point of blaming her of witchery). it’s not HER fault she was gifted with magic “everyone loves her” powers… she doesn’t mean to be effortlessly charming! she doesn’t even want this ability!! why not let her talk to animals or grow plants at will!!!!!!!
25. Which “tortured artist” does your OC share the most similarities with?
she’s not on this list, but tbh, probably emily dickinson….. gen’s also a bit reclusive, known to be a gardener, yearns endlessly…… maybe i’ll throw some medical conditions her way too.. mostly i feel like dickinson’s poetry fits her rlly well!!

For the Oswald thing—jrjdjdm
Oh yeah, speaking of which. Before the welcome home update, his whole deal was that he kinda was the only one other than Wally to survive whatever the hell happened in Welcome Home. And was thus trapped with Wally inside of Home as a result.
But with the recently updated info due to the update—instead, Oswald actively knows about what Home is doing and that it's kind of manipulating Wally(if Home really is the antagonist anyway). He is actually kind of going along with Homes shit, but only because deep down, he hopes that if he does, it'll let Wally go and leave him alone.
However, due to everything that happens, I can picture Oswalds mental health wouldn't be impacted.. positively per say. An Idea I had was him beginning to have frequent breakdowns/panic attacks due to Home. During these panic attacks/breakdowns, he'd often sob and scream and would throw things around due to his confusing emotions. But these would often be because of Home potentially implying it would hurt Wally, or literally anything else going on in the lore.
Ooooooooo, that's interesting! Poor guy :<
I can imagine if he had a secret audio like Wally or Home it'd just be him in the middle of a breakdown sobbing that he doesn't know what to do

Thanks for this reminder about something Id been mulling over. New definition time again:
"Conspiracy Theory" = a wide ranging class of ideals, which, when broken down are at their core-- unproven theorums. As in, we dont have enough evidence to support our conclusion with high enough confidence, but we do believe it is PROBABLY true, as in greater than 50% chance
When you really start to dig into which "Conspiracies" are regarded as such, and dig into WHY some "Conspiracies" are brought into the normal science discourse and called "real" and whitewashed of the previous "Conspiracy" label, it actually starts making sense that some of the ORIGINAL CONSPIRACIES were actually well supported public beliefs. For a while.
I'm looking at you, 1960s political assassinations
When we look at these incidents from a framework that we have today, which is to say that big-money controls public information, especially BEFORE THE INTERNET
I really want to hear from people that lived through that time. I didnt obviously.
But the development of public sentiment around things called "Conspiracy" makes sense, if I add one extra "Conspiracy" in here. Funny cause thats actually how science proofs are written but yeah, I'm totally just a Conspiracy theorist and nothing else
I believe, until proven otherwise, that big-money interest groups manipulated certain Conspiracy theorists with slowly devolving theories which made the public lose all trust that ANY conspiracy could be right.
Since I'm not a proponent of intelligent design, I would say my argument still makes sense as a self-reinforcing cycle which was nudged along with extra craziness by the corporations who were avoiding the actual truth. As in, IT WAS IN EVERY CORPORATIONS PROFIT INCENTIVES TO MAKE AMERICANS DISTRUST EACH OTHER
Wow. Lot said here. Lets just finish with a quick reminder that all of these beliefs are officially labeled as "Conspiracy theory"
-The simple belief that JFK took more than 1 bullet when he died. The official report afterwards claimed that a "Single Bullet Theory"-- which confirmed Lee Harvey Oswald as definitely just a nutter acting alone-- as the officially correct theory. As in, all the government and businesses just acted like this was definitely true and just moved on. Calling everyone else "nutters". Fucking gaslighting
-The belief that MLK & Malcom X were killed by right-wing extremists in the American military branches (police state branches)
-The belief that Trump did not do anything ever in the interest of Russian businesses without being honest with America
That last one should be read again. Yep. Because the impeachment failed to convict Trump, the official stance of the government was that Trump committed zero crimes in regards to Foreign Interest transparency. If this happened 60 years ago, it would be considered a nutter theory too in todays discourse.
So let me say this for all my fellow altruistic mfers that have avoided scary conspiracies. They arent all scary. Just the ones tainted by right wing extremists in a self-reinforcing cycle to make all conspiracies less appealing to the general public.
Again, I don't believe in intelligent design, so I believe a lot of these theories can be better understood as a probably self-reinforcing cycle with some very bad actors making very bad moves to help it not stop.
Kinda like my argument about this all being a financial bubble? No one person causes it. Hive mind does
Trump should be forced to identify these men. They are Russian spies. Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Kislyak.
Trump should be forced to explain why they were in the Oval Office and why US media was forbidden and Russian media was allowed.
Trump is loyal to Russia. It's obvious.

Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 192
Heaven Can’t Wait/The Bells of Saint John
“Heaven Can’t Wait”
Plot Description: Dean and Castiel investigate a series of spontaneous human combustions, while Crowley helps Sam and Kevin translate an ancient tablet
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: idk what that dude’s whole thing is, but…I don’t think I could stop him if he wanted to explode me
Cas studying and imitating human behavior is adorable. You are CORRECT, miss manager lady, he IS special!! 💖
GWORL. I know you got a crush but holy shit. Wait…no. She…might not? The kiss was confusing but I think she actually wants Cas to babysit for a date she’s going on
Why are the splattered remains Barbie pink??
GWORL (Dean), you didn’t just wanna bail on research. You wanted to see your boyfriend
Well, damn, if an angel came and exploded me any time I exaggeratedly said I wanna die?? Yikes.
I’m sorry. Dean. You don’t get to be like this about Cas’s situation when you kicked him out of the bunker…
I can’t believe Sam is actively manipulating Crowley….yeah.
Dean, you get NO SAY in what Castiel is going through unless you take him back to the bunker. He is doing his best with what little people skills he has. He is content right now
Yeah. He’s being called in to babysit
He has responsibilities, DEAN. Like cleaning the restroom
Can you spit out why it’s so bad BEFORE what would be a commercial break? No? Cool.
Omg…Dean telling Cas how to dress for this (not-a-)date
It’s gonna hurt to watch Cas get shut down……..at least Dean won’t be there to watch exactly…
Don’t worry, Cas, it WAS a confusing proposition. I get she was excited for her date, but she shouldn’t have kissed you.
It’s sick and twisted that Crowley wants to use Kevin’s blood to call Abaddon. He should not have to go through this…
Castiel is adorably bad with this baby. He’s TRYING but like………oh. No. He’s not bad with her, she really likes him. I…this is so cute. He can weirdly relate so much to being new to being a human.
No no nonononoooooo. The angel who’s been exploding people found Cas by the amount of emotional pain he’s in
Omg Abaddon is so hot
Literally could not care less if everything she does gets labeled wrong by the story. Don’t care that Crowley gets mad that she’s invalidating his contracts and that she’s screwing up hell. She can do whatever she wants
Bets on whether Metatron’s spell being permanent:
1) actually IS permanent, and
2) is a thing Dean tells Cas RIGHT NOW instead of keeping it a secret?
Do you have a crush on him NOW, miss manager lady???
Yeah. Kinda knew Dean wasn’t gonna be the MOST upfront
Hmmm…I’m betting this isn’t a “I want to FEEL human again” blood injection. It’s probably a “if I’m human again I can escape this bunker” one
“The Bells of Saint John”
Plot Description: The Doctor’s search for Clara Oswald brings him to modern day London
(There’s a lot to hate about the Big Bang Theory but I will never fault the show for pointing out that, though the Doctor has access to all of space and time, he sure does like modern day London (or sometimes Wales) a whole lot)
Oh yOuR sOuL’s BeEn UpLoAdEd To ThE iNtErNeT?? Kay…what else is new?? And why are you clicking on weird wifi networks? Did no one teach you anything?? And like…SO MANY people did that
This episode is making me so angry…just as someone who spent most of their day with our IT department trying to get them to take me seriously about my persistent internet issues. Yes, the internet SHOULD JUST BE THERE. I wish I knew why it isn’t but I am also not an IT specialist. (I could spend the next hour ranting about how I cried on the phone because I couldn’t get them to do anything beyond basic troubleshooting and then the second it was back for even a moment they were like ‘well, now I can’t escalate it because it’s back. If it happens again, call back’ even though that WAS a call back because I’d had the same issue the night before…..but I do need to actually watch this episode)
Ah, damn, Clara, you clicked the wrong WiFi……
Ugh…they’re doing it again. They’re too much alike. Not to rush Matt’s time but I need it to be Peter Capaldi now.
These people remind me too much of Naomi and her reign over heaven in spn
Bestie, RUN.
Maybe if the Doctor had gotten a tonsure, he’d think monks are cool
I do like the little flair the bottom of the Doctor’s jacket has now. It’s a twirly jacket
Ohhhhhh there really isn’t anything like a freshly opened package of jammy dodgers though
This is framed in a way that’s supposed to be cute and because it’s the Doctor, WE know she’s actually safe but if a strange man broke into my home after something happened to me, carried me to my bed, laid out snacks, took all my messages for me (including interacting with people close to me), and then told me NOW I was safe…I would not think I was safe. Also, the music is rather romcom-y and that’s weird because he’s several hundred years older than her
“I can’t tell the future, I just work there” is a really good line though
Ok no. This is creepy af. People should not be hackable
Is…the great intelligence behind this?? The bad guy from the last episode?
Oh these people are going to regret taking the Doctor’s likeness to get to Clara
I miss when the Doctor was a little less of an action hero. He shouldn’t be allowed to ride a motorcycle up the side of a building
I was RIGHT?? The Great Intelligence was behind it?? HOW LONG WAS HE KEEPING THAT WOMAN HOSTAGE?? HOW LONG HAD SHE BEEN HACKED?? She sounded like a little kid when she came to

hot take: the Gotham writers should've made leslie Thompkins be kinda a foil for Edward during season four, both had someone who had more power than them kill their lover and then manipulate them in season three and Leslie has like 12 similarities to Oswald in season four and she compares edward to jim before she stabs ed at the end of season four, why did they not pay attention to this in the show????
#gotham#edward nygma#leslie thompkins#their toxic frendship is so dear to me#they are messy bitches together#also#the show shouldve have made her be connected to those riddles in season three episode 15 she so fits the loneliness/love riddle#edward connects to Foxy due to the reflection#Ed connects with Oswald due to the individual and Ed connects to Lee due to the loneliness#bring those 3 riddles back!!! all of these narrative foils should be related to those riddles#gotham fox

( not trying to start drama, i don't have anything against you i like your artwork on the two i just severely disargee and want to voice why, i dont wanna start drama i just want to explain my thoughts)
no???? we see edward be an unreliable narrator multiple times in the story ( his most popular and infamous being one where he lies to himself and a ghost of oswald) so why as an audience member am I supposed to believe him when he says he got over it when he cried to the point of dissociation right after he realized she was dead???? i know Gotham has shitty writing all the time but this isn't the last time we see him show gulit for what he did to Kristen, the isabella arc shows him having gulit over Kristen multiple times in that episode. this is how he is characterized, the show kinda leads us into thinking hes lying on how much it affects him. someone who got over her in a day does not do this, it reads way more like npd/bpd splitting instead of just using and disregarding. also the whole dissiocation thing gotham does can be read as pyschosis its pretty easy to do that to the point 99% sure the writers didnt know the difference. ( also his whole bond with oswald implies what he says about kristen is a cope, no? he said love was not for people like them but during season two and season three he does sacfrice alot for oswald, he could've recieved oswald's affections by just waiting for these problems to be done but he went over the moon for him, edward is a liar through and through)
im not going to sit here and act like he wasnt being selfish, he was but it wasn't intentionally malicous. him killing kristen wasn't the worst action he did here, the worst action was him finding a way to rewrite what transpired in a way to make him believe it was always going to happen, like he isn't at any falut and did nothing wrong, he did see her as human and not a fantasy atfer he killed her, but he made himself forget that in order to feel better. the death made him be confronted by the fact that she didnt only exist just to meant him feel good or become a grand person, he denies this reality since if he wants to keep his ideal ego then he has to find some way to justify this and so he says it was just fate, meant to happen. edward cannot accept being in the wrong because of his black and white thinking, he cannot have both bad parts and good parts of himself, it has to all be good or life is not worth living. also he wouldnt kill her later on purposesly, he justifies his murders against people he knows by " they did something bad to me" if she stayed alive he would likely treat her simlarly to how he treated grundy. like he took a bullet for that woman why would he disgard her like he does so easily with strangers? she would have to like do something big to convince
we see him have a gulit hallincation of kristen in season three, stress out over the mere idea of killing isabella as a accident to the point oswald has to go confront her instead of him, and when edward finally confronts her he tries to escape when he sees her dressed up as her. my problem with the arc is they could've easily tied it to the court of owls and also have the isabella arc be edward getting a taste of his medince, expriencing what he put someone else through but it was not, they romantized isabella when in reality her actions would never help someone like edward and would likely harm him more. i wanted the arc to be that he was drawn to isabella because she was an easy soltution for any remaining emotions he had for kristen, she was a new fantasy of normalacy and so he ran for it and got this in return.
I know people hate this arc for being out of character but season three episode 15 streamlines Edward's emotions and brings clarity to why he did so much in episode 14. if Oswald never loved Edward then all of this was manipulation, the mere fact Oswald couldn't even stand more than a week of Edward being in a relationship with someone implies he felt ownership over Edward, of course, Edward would think he was being malicious, he knows that Oswald knows his loyalty and smarts, why wouldn't Oswald use that just to make himself feel good? we know as an audience that is not the case but Edward does not know. also, I know he wasn't being logical in this arc when it came to isabella but Edward fucking framed jim gordon and ruined his life for a bit because he thought he knew about what happened to Kristen from jim gordon just asking a question???? this man was never logical when it came to making his decisions, Oswald shows his emotions more openly than Edward and he still makes decisions that are more well thought out than Edward does. also, next time I like Kristen as a character and don't want to defend Edward's actions, but saying her death only affected him for like one day is wrong. I'm not trying to attack you but Edward isn't this mastermind genius-level manipulator, he does have empathy even if it is low and mostly repressed. why does Edward need to be at this level of self-aware and evil for him to do something as horrible as that? oswald has done horrific things and we still have to sympathize with him in the show while acknowledging that what he did was bad and he should be punished for it, why does this not apply to Edward?
thinking ed killing kristen traumatized him is crazy 😭😭😭 he got over it in like a day!!! she didn’t actually mean anything to him she was just a fantasy! he just likes the chase him killing her would’ve been inevitable and likely not accidental

#( ᶦ ᵈᵒⁿᵗ ᶜˡᵃᶦᵐ ᵗᵒ ˢᵖᵉᵃᵏ ᶠᵒʳ ᵗʰᵉ ᵖᵉⁿᵍᵘᶦⁿ || ooc )#// honestly thinking of nygma as two separate characters kills me sometimes#especially when the show keeps blurring the lines between them#bc like#on one hand i really do ship ed/lee and actually kinda enjoyed their dynamic#but like#the riddler/lee seems really forced to me??#and in a lot of way ooc for him#plus while i love the idea of lee reaching a little more into her darker side to just use it as a manipulation tactic#the show tries to paint it like it's an actual legit romance too much for my interest#and it just feels like its cheapening both of their characters#nevermind the fact that riddler explicitly was on better terms with oswald again so there is no reason for all the hostility between them#ESPECIALLY for lees sake like#uhg#anyways ignore me im catching up on old episodes and like#its very annoying to me that they're shoving this nonsense at us just for the sake of having both the cool riddler character#AND the heteronormative nonsense#truthfully while i prefer the riddler over ed#i would have been happy if he'd just STAYED ed until after they're run their course with the lee romance#and THEN bring back the riddler#but no#on a brighter note i actually highkey like jeramiah#i didnt think i necessarily was going to but like#he has some of the best parts of the joker#and the obsession with bruce wayne is a lot more in-line with how i always saw their relationship#over jerome's whole ''lol i just wanna kill him'' shtick#plus the idea of him starting off being all like ''I'm going to be better than my brother and more sane than he ever was''#and then like...#slowly becoming his twin and always justifying his actions as being ''not as bad as jerome''#plus!! love that batcat hell yeh those two are p damn cute

Sooo... The Penguin: One Bad Day?
...Honestly?
Considering the genuinely abysmal precedent set by the prior two One Bad Day stories? I'm just glad this didn't push Penguin absurdly far into complete monster territory. I'm glad it didn't assassinate the character, like the other one that should go unnamed. I wasn't even gonna touch it until you dropped this ask. I kept reading the entire issue waiting for the other shoe to drop with some twist like, oh he's gonna kill all his associates in the end because he doesn't care for them or, oh he's gonna have some awful new detail added to his backstory like they did for Joker's Asylum or Pain and Prejudice but, no.
I did like a fair deal of how it depicted Oswald, I was rather shocked by it. It passes my "I can hear Paul Williams reading this" test and that's pretty damn high praise coming from. I did like spending some time with Penguin at his lowest and how this does the "Oswald claws his way to the top" set-up but without violence being his biggest asset, more so his ability to negotiate and manipulate and even beg his way into assembling just enough of a crew and just enough firepower to scrape by. I kinda liked Tiny Homeless Trash King Penguin as a concept (I figure Spamton fans who are also Penguin fans might get a kick out of this story).
I like that it establishes that Oswald's relation with his henchmen is that he thinks he treats them significantly less shitty ways than he actually does, which still makes him several tiers better than most other Gotham rogues even if not, great, and in the end he will in fact try to make amends. I like that it establishes Oswald's history with being lonely and ostracized as a reason why he treats his goons a little better and why he employs people that would be otherwise discarded, and this is ultimately why he wins (you can argue that this comic represents said people poorly and, you'd be right, but, it's a Batman comic, if you're in too deep in those, at some point you kinda have to settle for the less-abysmal depictions of mental illness / physical deformity / race / gender / etc when given such)
It didn't shy away from showing many of Oswald's character faults, but it also played straight the idea that, overall, he is indeed a better class of criminal and significantly better than your average mobster, if nothing else it also gets major points with me also for the lengths it went to avoid the misogynistic Penguin cliches others default to. It even goes so far as to state that Penguin played a significant hand at both ensuring Gotham's rogues had the tools necessary, as well as secretly kneecapping them so that the game between them and Batman would never escalate too far, to the extent that Penguin thinks of Batman as "a piece in his conglomerate". Honestly? I'm still not sure this is an idea that works, but I don't hate it? In fact it's kind of something I always wanted to see explored, even something I'd toyed with on my personal Batman or superhero-related ideas?
If nothing else, this does go someway towards explaining why Batman tolerates Penguin to the extent he does. Not because Penguin's good at looking legitimate or because he makes for good intel, but because Batman pretty much always has someone or something worse than Penguin to stop, and because wasting time with Penguin inevitably means turning his back on worse problems happening at Gotham (I feel like the Reeves film continuity is kinda heading in this direction as well). And Batman hates it, he hates that Oswald knows this, but this story also points out what happens when Penguin's removed from the picture to be inevitably replaced by some far worse scumbag with no interest in theater or balance. This idea wouldn't work for any other character in Batman's Rogues Gallery, except for Penguin. Granted, this also kinda means that Oswald's purposefully kneecapping himself but, at least it acknowledges this as part of the set-up required to make mob boss Penguin work.
Even the fact that Penguin resolves the battle by going full beast / Returns, I don't mind that much here, it's played for contrast of Penguin spending the entire issue powerless or being played as a gentleman (if a deluded, cutthroat criminal one) for most of the issue. Honestly? I like this as a display of monstrousness way more than "ruins your life for coughing within earshot", I'd have little to complain if Penguin tearing out the throats of mob bosses with his teeth was the lowest he'd be willing to go, in fact I think he should do that more often. I do like some savagery in him.
I mean, yeah, the whole reocurring animal thing, and it culminating with him thanking his former bully for instilling the idea on him that he's just "a little animal", has some whiff of that "the bullies get it right" awfulness from Frank Tieri's one-shot but, it's not going that far. There's some issues in this story and especially from a plotting perspective but, I'm not sure how much I liked this because it was a good Penguin story that utilized the character in an interesting way or even a good story in general, or how much I liked this because it wasn't as aggressively dogshit as I was expecting and how much better it was than so many other modern Penguin stories but, I'm pretty lenient on this, I liked most of it well enough.
I don't know how this relates to the current continuity that I'm not reading, and I don't care either, but between this, what little I've seen of other recent Penguin moments and the upcoming show, I'm feeling pretty good. It's kinda seeming like the character's getting some of his groove back. I'm pleasantly happy with it.
#replies tag#dc comics#dc#batman#the penguin#penguin#oswald cobblepot#comic books#honestly I've kinda given up on most superhero comics in general#unless they're written by someone I really like#or I get recommended to check them out#I'd rather just sit by and let others inform me of the dumpster fires#but thank you for pushing me to read this so I could reply to you#about-faces I am so so sorry that they did this to you#what an awful thing that was

If nobody’s sending us asks I’ll just say it and clog the tags because I’m evil and I don’t care /j
Who in Gotham can dance?
Jim does that thing when you don’t know any real dances so you just kinda shimmy in the corner and hope nobody says anything. Used to break it down in college but doesn’t remember how
Harvey can get into a club dance floor if need be. Nothing spectacular but understands going with the flow and having fun
Fish prefers to watch people obviously. But that also means she knows a little bit of everything
Oswald used to dance with his mother in the kitchen, she would treat him like a little gentleman and waltz him around, so ballroom dancing is sort of a regular lovey-dovey activity for him. He hasn’t done it since he hurt his leg and probably wouldn’t unless prompted. He can also throw it back if need be
Ed would have a panic attack if you put him on a dance floor. In the hypothetical that Oswald dances with him I think he’d totally pretend like he knows what he’s doing but be calculating and noting absolutely everything Oswald’s doing as they go
Tabitha can. Obviously. Butch would probably only dance with her and otherwise stands around shimmying.
Jervis can ballroom dance as well- but put him in a modern club and he kind of just 🧍♂️
Ivy doesn’t know what she’s doing but doesn’t care and has fun anyway
Selina SHOULD know more club appropriate dances just because of the crowd she’s with but secretly she only knows how to waltz because of that time with Bruce and it’s the only dancing she’s enjoyed. Ballet just makes her sad and confused
Jerome actually knows a lot and is very physically fit from the circus. He could probably anything if he wanted. He chooses to learn fortnite dances and breakdance moves and do them in worst possible spaces
Jeremiah knows the basics but replicating things from the circus is a slippery slope. Prefers to default to card tricks at parties but if absolutely necessary he can do a little groove. Can waltz too, but only learned it recently from Ecco
Barbara mostly knows dances that are probably not safe for tumblr but she can remain civil if there’s men to manipulate
Same with Lee though she knows less
