The founders of Fazbear Entertainment circa 1976 ish, before Clarissa dies in '77, and pretty much everything goes downhill from there.

Prosthetics are optional. Experimenting with siren markings. Admittedly I do wish I’d have drawn them with their real arms and then the stubs but eh too late now I guess
also osseointegration prosthetics. Observe

Three guys, three stumps, three osseointegrated prosthetic legs but with different types of prosthetic knees. That's some prime threesome material right there! The question is, prosthetic legs on or off? Which guy here with a stump is your favorite?

I was geeking about this on twitter, but I love that we have an example of an Osseointegrated prosthetic in an animated show. It's very cool.
Maybe I should my Trek-Sona to be a "rogue Prosthetics specialist" or something lol

Uughhhh your everlark art. Love it so much :D Please share your headcanon or story?!? Thank you.....
Ohoh, well if you insist...hold on to your butts, it's gonna get technical.
I've seen some discussion about whether Peeta's prosthetic is permanent or removable. Personally I think that it IS removable because:
1. You can't stick implants in bones that are still growing. The recommended age for osseointegration is 18+, because otherwise there's every chance the bone will just, like. Push it out.
2. He's described in CF as lacking coordination and struggling to keep up with The Gang which is more common with the classic socket models.
3. Honestly I don't think Snow would see it as worth the cost. Implants are expensive and require a lot of rehab after surgery. If he was a solo victor then he might be worth the investment (bc who'd pay for damaged goods? To be clear this is NOT my opinion, but the Capitol's - they're obsessed with aesthetics after all.) Also he wouldn't have a support system to help him through it - his family basically ignores him when he comes back.
So I think that Peeta likely has a stump and removable leg. It's probably overdesigned and far too ornate to be comfortable OR useful, and he'll get all the symptoms and side effects associated with it. At least all of his clothes now are Capitol made so they're prosthetic friendly.
BUT. Then the revolution happens. Again I don't think Snow cares long-term about his welfare (obvs lmao) so they probably just slap a leg on him with the medical equivalent of super glue and send him off to murder Katniss and/or die trying.
When he gets caught in The Fire the prosthetic melts onto his leg and damages even more tissue. During reconstruction he's given the implant instead, because a doctor finally wants this boy to live past his teens. That's why it takes him longer to return to D12 - in addition to the therapy he's also got rehab. The leg/foot is still removable, but there's fewer side effects and overall it's far more comfortable (it's also waterproof, so bring on the cute lake scenes!)
This is the version featured in my pic :)
Also any non-Capitol made clothes he just cuts the left leg off bc who can be bothered dealing with that first thing in the morning. Katniss sews fur-lined stump warmers for the winter to cover the exposed skin. She also makes him a little leather cap for the implant when he takes his leg off at night, bc it is Not Fun getting whacked with a titanium pole when trying to sleep (I imagine he's a twitchy sleeper post-MJ)

brigh's leg prosthetic looks like osseointegration btw! idk if that would be the proper type considering his burns but it IS a real thing!
OHHH THAT ACTUALLY MAKES SO MUCH SENSE I'M SORRY FOR NOT REALIZING THIS SOONER
So sorry for the confusion. I literally haven't seen anything about this before and it makes so much sense actually. That's actually pretty cool! It's awesome that kit included something like that if osseointegration is actually what it is.
The more you know

I am glad you asked!
So, I am researching on prosthetic legs has around 2 weeks, because... it has a digitigrade leg! The knee in resting position is parallel to the ground, not perpendicular!
So a single axis knee wouldnt do it. After some research, I have decided this leg:
Is polycentric. It is very stable, because the multiple axis create an Instant Centre of Rotation (ICR) that is much higher than the actual knee.
Has a constant friction control. It swings freely most of the time, but the friction control makes it swing in a more predictable way.
Has a weight based lock, that only triggers when it is at 90 degrees or less. This detail is very important in order to allow the digitigrade walk. The downside is that sitting is kinda weird with this leg. But this lock can be manually toggled as well to remedy that.
Also, the knee axis is osseointegrated. I confess this is more me not knowing how to draw a socket.
The most used feet is the running blade because oh boi does it like to move. It is a very active person.
So... that is mostly it. Thanks for asking, if something else comes to mind I might add to this post

(Extreme body modification warning)
Ok. If you recall this one meme with Charlie Day in front of a corkboard, frantically explaining sth - this is me right now. Crocodile. His hook. Logia type devil fruit users. And amputation.
Given Kuzan, we know that Crocodile could easily make himself a new sand-hand, so the huge golden hook is defibetly for intimidation and combat, we seen the level of paranoia this man can reach. But I guess in any non-combat and safe situation he could fashion himself a new, fully dexterous hand out of sand for the sake of making his life easier. Two arms are always better than one.
But. I just learned of a thing: Krukenberg procedure. For which Crocodile would be fully eligible - the hook indicates that he's lost only his palm, maybe some bones of the forearm but not the full thing. So his radius and ulna are still present and thus can be separated into functional "pincers" giving him dexterity a stump would never have. And Crocodile, with all his paranoia and trust-issues, would definitely want to be as independent as possible. In an extreme case scenario where he's stripped of his hook AND his powers, having both hands capable of gripping stuff would be a very useful thing. And definitely, the thought that he would have almost full mobility in an extremely dire situation would be a comfort in on itself.
Just looked up images of it and that is like the gnarliest looking crab claw on the planet.
Initial shock aside, It's fascinating how the musculoskeletal system can adjust for that kind of range of motion... but anyway.
It's an interesting concept to play around with, but I'm wondering if it would be a safe option, given how his hand- at least with my whole thing about how he lost it- was necrotic by the time he got any medical attention. Maybe he could have gotten the surgery further down the line, which, now that I look at it, seems to be a typical case with a Krukenberg procedure... the practicality of it is insane.
Personally, I don't think he would have, once he knew he could shape himself a hand, but the paranoia would definitely make him consider it. The one thing that I believe would actually stop him from getting that surgery would be that it would only be useful to him in the worst case scenario, and he is NOT about being in the worst case scenario. Ever. He comes across as very "death before dishonor" to me, and would rather commit suicide by Marine than be put through the humiliation of getting thrown in prison. He knows he could make it in prison. Hell, he would probably flourish in prison given how much of a sadiatic bastard he is, he just doesn't want that on his record.
A famous real world pirate named Anne Bonney once looked at her captain, Calico Jack, when they were all in chains and told him "if you would have fought like man, you wouldn't have died like a dog" and that is VERY Crocodile-coded to me.
This sense of pride comes back to bite him right in the ass.
Another consideration could be that he went the osseointegration route and had a metal implant grafted to the bone that he could use various types of prosthetics with. It's gives a lot more control than the usual socket prosthetics, but the risk of infection is pretty nasty and would potentially be difficult to clean up.

First seeing g3 Frankie’s animated design for the show, I immediately fell in love with the queer and disabled representation that they’re providing for the screen. But I will say that I was a little bit thrown off by the lack of a realistic prosthetic leg ddjdj. Usually, prosthetics have a socket for the residual limb, but Frankie’s leg is lacking that. I cut it some slack though, cause it’s a cartoon, and I’m not really picky, but...
I have learned, as of around a week ago, that osseointegration amputations/prosthetics are a thing?? It looks just like Frankie’s amputation?? Hello?? This is baffling me way more than it should be

"Here I am - what is left of me."
Nara caressed over his jaw with her finger. "You're beautiful, Laurent.", she said, using his first name.
He shook his head. A smile appeared on his lips, and his voice vibrated as he spoke: "I am broken, Nara."
[...]
"You began your life in insanity, Nara. But now you awake each day, and put yourself back together and return to sanity. Me, however...", he raised the prosthesis, "As a child, I had absolute certainty in religion and the holy books. And with every day I break more..."
Nara took both of his hands. The inanimate one was hard as metal, without the rubber-like sensation of civilian prostheses. It closed around her fingers gently. Nara Oxham ignored Laurents cold pain, grabbed the living and the inanimate parts, pressed her fingers into the strange interfaces of human and machine. She found the hidden closures and opened them, released the artificial limbs. She saw the phantom limbs as clear as if they were real.
Mentally she merged with him.
"Then break.", she said.
(Translation back to english from the german translation because I only had the german one avaliable)
Full drawing as well as some more thoughts on this piece under the read more because it's somewhat suggestive
Tumblr media
1.
That's actually not how prostheses work in real life, because sci-fi and the technology there moved on, however I tried to be as accurate as possible in every detail that was not explicitly mentioned in the book as being sci-fi technology.
There's cables connecting his body with the prostheses because unlike real life ones they can transmit sensations back to him, if somewhat flawed. That is something the book directly describes, even if I could not quite pinpoint how they would look like.
He also has implants, basically metal rods sticking in the bone of the residual limbs to hold the prosthesis, which is called Osseointegration prosthetic and does exist in real life, but is quite risky due to being prone to infection here, and thus relatively rare. I figured out that in this future, they would have learned how to prevent these infections, so it is used even on his legs additionally to suction even though there is enough leg left for it to hold on even without it (combining this is not a thing in real life as far as I know). Also in real life they look different, not these sci-fi clipper things but just a metal rod. The way these additional implants at his shoulder (collar bone and shoulder bone) work is made up too; I just figured out if this was not risky anymore it would be useful to distribute the weight on his whole shoulder and not just that one point.
His legs holds through basically closing around the residual limb and then the air getting sucked out - also directly described in the book - which is very much how most real life prostheses work.
2.
However I am able-bodied, so don't take my word for any of this. I really hope I did this in a respectful way, but truth is, despite the research I did, I am not hundred percent sure if I managed to pull it of without fetishizing amputees. There is a lot of focus on Laurent Zai being an amputee in this drawing, an ankle I choose because it empathizes the vulnerability but also healing tenderness of that scene and the following (implied) sex scene. This is just what his body happens to look like, but also, it is so much focus on it - ah damn, I don't know.
3.
Was he actually half undressed in that scene? Reread it a few times, and couldn't find out. I don't think he would tell the horrific body horror story of how Dhantu rebels tortured him while being half naked, but also every area where the prosthesis sit is covered by cloth, so he has to be half naked in order for Nara to be able to unclasp them like that.
Also not sure if they had sex directly after or only later. I mean, a disturbing torture story is not exactly a turn on. But then, there also is nothing in the picture saying that it has to take place directly after that dialogue
4.
In every other situation taking off someones limbs without their consent is really fucking intrusive, but in this it works for me, and I am not sure why? Maybe because Laurent seems to be totally okay with it? Maybe because Nara is a telepath so she knows already that it is okay for him?

Inspired by a reply to this original tweet (please give that post some love):
A brief rundown of how Bucky's prosthetic functions, based on breakthroughs in the field of biotechnology that have been getting mainstream attention in recent years.
Namely: Neuromusculoskeletal prosthetic technology, also known colloquially as 'bionic arms'.
While Bucky's prosthetic more advanced than our current technological capabilities, due to the nature of comic book science, the information I am going to share is helpful all the same; especially for people writing his character (and if you are, I encourage you to research this technology and get a grasp of the fundamentals).
To start, the socket is osseointegrated. This in itself is not new a new surgical technique and is a long-established method of amputation. What osseointegration means is the socket that prosthetic attaches (or 'anchors') to is integrated into/fused with Bucky's bones.
Now, how do these prosthetics move and feel? Here is a brief, but informative explanation targeted at laypeople:
