the urge to bite jeff's shoulders because you are what you eat or something
we should all go find some grass to lie down on
This pale mimicry through visual osmosis isn't working anymore.
Biting isn't enough, either.
At this point, I need to absorb him like an amoeba. Consume him Kirby style. He is the Gender-Stealer but I will take it all back, for you and for our brethren.
And when our glorious battle ends, I shall stumble to the greenest pastures, my new shapely shoulders heaving with heavy breath. I am sated at last. Finally, I will rest. Finally, I will touch grass.

Plasmoid Ranking and Features (5e)
Guide
1=do not play this class as this race
2=can play but not recommended
3=decent choice
4=perfect
Astral Adventurers Guide
Plasmoids are amorphous beings with no typical shape. In the presence of other folk, they often adopt a similar shape, but there’s little chance of mistaking a plasmoid for anything else. They consume food by osmosis, the way an amoeba does, and excrete waste through tiny pores. They breathe by absorbing oxygen through another set of pores, and their limbs are strong and flexible enough to grasp and manipulate weapons and tools. Although most plasmoids are translucent gray, they can alter their color and translucence by absorbing dyes through their pores.
Plasmoids don’t have internal organs of the usual sort. Their bodies are composed of cells, fibers, plasma-like ooze, and clusters of nerves. These nerves enable a plasmoid to detect light, heat, texture, sound, pain, and vibrations. Plasmoids can stiffen the outer layers of their bodies to maintain a humanlike shape, so they can wear clothing and accessories. They speak by forcing air out of tubular cavities that constrict to produce sound.
When plasmoids sleep, they lose their rigidity and spread out and are thus sometimes mistaken for a rock or some other feature of the environment.
Ability Score Increase. Increase one ability score by 2, and increase a different one by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.
Creature Type. You are an Ooze.
Size. You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you gain this race.
Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet.
Amorphous. You can squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide, provided you are wearing and carrying nothing. You also have advantage on ability checks you make to initiate or escape a grapple.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of yourself as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
Hold Breath. You can hold your breath for 1 hour.
Natural Resilience. You have resistance to acid and poison damage, and you have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.
Shape Self. As an action, you can reshape your body to give yourself a head, one or two arms, one or two legs, and makeshift hands and feet, or you can revert to a limbless blob. While you have a humanlike shape, you can wear clothing and armor made for a Humanoid of your size. As a bonus action, you can extrude a pseudopod that is up to 6 inches wide and 10 feet long or reabsorb it into your body. As part of the same bonus action, you can use this pseudopod to manipulate an object, open or close a door or container, or pick up or set down a Tiny object. The pseudopod contains no sensory organs and can’t attack, activate magic items, or lift more than 10 pounds.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate.
Artificer 3 Acid and Poison resistance are great for front-line builds and you can use an infusion to add another damage resistance making you very durable
Barbarian 3 resistance to Acid and Poison are nice for front-line martial characters. Advantage to initiate grapples is nice but you can get that from Rage
Bard 2 Bards shouldn’t be taking hits frequently enough for the damage resistances to matter and you can’t squeeze through a hole while carrying an instrument
Cleric 2 Clerics need armor shields and holy symbols so squeezing through holes is out of the question. The damage resistances are nice if you’re playing a front-line build
Druid 2 if you need to squeeze through a 1-inch hole turn into an octopus. You can do that without dropping your equipment
Fighter 4 resistance to Acid and Poison are nice for front-line martial characters and Advantage to initiate grapples is fantastic for Fighter. Take high Strength and proficiency in Athletics and you’ll do pretty well. You likely still want Expertise to support the grapple/shove combo though
Monk 4 easily Plasmoid’s best option since Monks function so well without equipment. A Plasmoid Monk can squeeze through a gap spend their turn attacking then squeeze back out to wait in safety while the round passes. Way of the Astral Self is unique in that it allows Monk to grapple effectively. Combined with Plasmoid’s Advantage to initiate grapples there’s some appeal here
Paladin 3 resistance to Acid and Poison are nice for front-line martial characters and Advantage to initiate grapples is fantastic. However you don’t get as many attacks or ASIs as Fighter so it’s much more difficult to optimize for grapple/shove
Ranger 3 the damage resistances are nice but Rangers need armor and weapons so using Plasmoid’s ability to squeeze through holes while scouting is risky. Strength-based Rangers are hard to build compared to Dexterity-based Rangers and being better at grappling likely isn’t enough to solve that challenge
Rogue 3 same as Ranger
Sorcerer 3 Sorcerers have plenty of good spells which don’t require material components so it’s easy to build a Sorcerer that can function without equipment. But be cautious about sneaking around alone with d6 hit dice
Warlock 3 same as Sorcerer
Wizard 2 Wizards need to haul a spellbook around so squeezing into holes is difficult on top of the inherent risk of being anywhere alone as a Wizard. The damage resistances are nice but can be replaced by spells

Genji Shimada, for the send a random character headcanon asks?
(I'm only on the second chapter of Cage, so sorry if you mentioned this info later)
--@ceph-the-ghost-writer
(haha no worries i don’t really mention any of my “specific” headcanons in this story cuz i’m more worried about the plot lol—but thank you for reading actually i’m touched 🥺🥺)
Sexuality Headcanon: bisexual or pansexual — perhaps gray or demiromantic cuz before cyborg-ness i can’t see him wanting to be tied down to anything, after cyborg-ness i feel like finding someone he can connect with on a deep level due to this whole situation is more precedent for him wanting to be with someone. he’s down to fuck tho; maybe a little less eagerly than before but in general he’s dtf in my mind lol
Gender Headcanon: cis boyo but i feel like being a cyborg does like. affect how he feels about himself generally so i’d almost lean into calling him slightly nb because of that, if that makes sense
A ship I have with said character: for genji i have varying ships but the two most prominent tend to be genji/baptiste or genji/lucio. neither of them appear in cage properly but in a different fic that’s on hiatus, storm chasers, he and bap are a thing (i also just ship bap with a lot of people LMAO)
A BROTP I have with said character: him and cassidy! from canon they technically have a more ambiguous relationship. it’s said that genji didn’t communicate with other blackwatch members after he went into regular overwatch (so this would include cassidy), however i Highly Doubt that the two of them would’ve had a completely terrible relationship the entire time he was in blackwatch. plus, with the recall i feel like it’d be a chance for them to sort of reminisce about the bullshit. so idk—in my mind they’re better friends than canon maybe wants them to be but just because they’re best friends (to me) doesn’t mean they don’t butt heads.
to expand on this, i feel like cass is the only person genji can be completely candid with. with zenyatta he’s focused on healing and being a better person and being one with himself (with occasional teasing), he and angela have a complicated relationship (**to me), and he’s not very talkative towards other people now that he’s older (and he’s much more serious). i feel like cass would be able to break down a lot of his barriers and they’d appreciate each other’s dry sense of humor and in some ways they hold each other accountable to things.
this was a whole rant and a half but their bro-hood means a lot to me.
A NOTP I have with said character: gen/cy. i don’t ship anyone with mercy (for the most part. i’d really have to think if i wanted to ship someone with her but idc that much) but i specifically hate this ship because like. idk. it’s the doctor/patient power dynamic that i don’t like. like she knows his cybernetics, she built him and saved his life and i just feel like that uneven ground to start a relationship at all. i feel like in general, the canon and most people don’t develop angela enough and i feel like she’s kind of an overbearing type but also extremely certain and stubborn of her own morals and values and kind of thinks she’s right over everyone else. i feel like at a certain point she and genji wouldn’t be able to connect or relate to one another—between him wanting to reconnect with hanzo, to finding enlightenment with zen etc etc. so like idk i feel like people who ship this are kind of in a fantasy land where the characters are just perfect and happy and don’t actually like. take into account potential friction.
plus the savior complex is just 🤢
A random headcanon: it’s small but i don’t think genji likes sweets. i got hella headcanons about his tastebuds and how they don’t work (which does show up in cage—chapter 5 i believe). but i think it’s funny the juxtaposition how genji is viewed as more of the sweet/open/fun brother but his tastes are more umami and bitter, but hanzo is seen as more cold/standoffish/mean but he really likes sweets :3
General Opinion over said character: it’s thanks to @valeffelees that i actually have a more nuanced opinion of genji. ngl i used to HAAATE him back when i first got into overwatch because the fandom was so hostile towards hanzo and hanzo is my fucking blorbo so that it irritated me that genji got preferred treatment. however, these days, i don’t think you can have one without the other and i think he’s a really deep and interesting character that people don’t actually put effort into exploring. like even though cage is about han and cassidy it’s also VERY MUCH about genji and putting some goddamn effort into exploring him and his emotions in a way that i’m satisfied with
#character showcase#writeblr#I love absorbing enthusiasm for a character through osmosis#<- things an amoeba would say#but really I do enjoy it

welllllll ok. so its really more like pond scum than, like, jello. im debating myself on its nature but ive been imagining it kind of like.... idk, either some kind of complex algae that manufactures its own solution and intelligently communicates with itself,, OORRRR a deceptively simple form of amoeba colony that trades DNA through osmosis. like. the goo is a Goo it can be separated into parts that are just as whole as the original (this is the basis for a lot of technology)

Will a Water Filter System Remove Bacteria?
Only a reverse osmosis water filtration system will effectively remove harmful bacteria.
The simplest way to remove harmful bacteria is to disinfect the water by chlorination or by ultraviolet radiation.
As some water filters remove biocides (substances that can control the growth of harmful organisms, such as chlorine), it is possible that bacteria will re-grow unless the filtered water is stored in a sterile container in a cool, dark place.
Some water filters may also allow bacteria to multiply to great levels on the filter pads if they are not maintained regularly.
In most circumstances domestic household water filters or ultra violet treatment systems will not make water safe in relation to amoeba unless you also disinfect with chlorine.

Title: Rushing Whispers
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Status: First draft
POV: First person
File under: #books about musicians #found family #sweet romance
Synopsis:
It is late spring 1970 when Emily visits Scotland as a personal eulogy for her grandmother. She finds the country to be enchanting but after a strange encounter in Westhill, she staggers out of the woods in confusion.
Her only respite from the feeling she can’t shake off is Cameron, a musician who has introduced himself to her only minutes after her encounter, and offers to drive her to the city center. As they part ways, Emily wonders if there is more to this keyboardist than he lets on.
More stats and character info below the cut!
Extra info: In place of traditional numbered chapters, this story is told by date. •• There are parts of the story that deal with the aftermath of abuse and emotional trauma. •• Some scenes contain sex or nudity.
Setting: Begins in May 1970 in and around Aberdeen, Scotland. So far, add Europe and North America to the mix!
Current word count: approx 100,000 (as of September 2020)
MAIN CHARACTERS Emily Dupont was born in the fall of 1941 and raised in the suburbs surrounding Montreal, Canada. Following the death of her mother and her father’s subsequent departure in 1956, she and her sister moved in with their maternal grandmother, who was always supportive of Emily’s talent and love for painting. Cameron Thom is the founding member and keyboardist of Amoeba, a progressive rock band based in Aberdeen. Cameron has always lived in the area since his birth in the spring of 1941, and has stated that he owes his morals to the community he loves. Both of his parents passed away unexpectedly during his teen years, leaving him to move in with his aunt in nearby Cruden Bay, who has always cared for him as her own son. THE BAND Willie (born William) Shaw was also raised in Aberdeen, and has been friends with Cameron since primary school. Playing guitar has long been his solace and he has found a comforting wall of privacy in the instrument he’s strived to master for the last fifteen years. Lee Brodie was born in a small village on the shore of Loch Tay in the winter of 1943. His family briefly lived in Glasgow and then Edinburgh, until a short-lived woodworking apprenticeship in the summer of ‘62 brought him to Aberdeen. After being tasked with building a bass guitar for a customer, Lee set his sights on musicianship and left the trade. He joined Amoeba in the spring of 1969, just in time for the tour to support their first album. Dale Kenney’s family moved to Scotland from their native Bristol in 1960 due to his father’s career change. At fifteen, Dale realized he could sing after spending weeks singing to his younger sister to calm her and lull her to sleep, and by his own admission, “it was all over after that!” Colin Foster grew up in Liverpool and was bothering the neighbours early on in his life with constant banging on any flat surface. His parents bought him a small drum kit when he turned seven, and at fifteen he joined a local band that soon relocated to nearby Manchester. In the four years since, he has spent time in various bands in multiple cities until being recruited into Amoeba in February 1971. ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS Liliane Dupont is currently a department store manager, living in the same region in which she and her sister were raised. Of the two sisters, Liliane bore the brunt of the abuse dealt by their father, whose disappearance when she was sixteen helped them both in many ways. With Emily’s help, she was the palliative caregiver for their grandmother until her passing in April 1970. Geoff Sinclair is the middle-aged man who went out on a limb for Amoeba after seeing them perform in a small club in the autumn of 1968. Having taken a break from managing bands after a successful run with a handful of popular acts in the ten previous years, Geoff signed an exclusive management contract with the still-burgeoning Amoeba. Autumn Dunn has been best friends with Colin since they first met at the schoolyard over fifteen years ago. The pair have stayed close despite Colin’s departure from their native Liverpool in 1967 and Autumn’s prolonged sojourn in California, which transformed their regular hang outs into infrequent letters. Steve Todd is a twenty-one year old native Aberdonian up to his knees in the rock music scene. He’s musically inclined—wait until you hear him with a harmonica!—and has previously lent a hand to Amoeba in times of need between drummers. STUDIO DISCOGRAPHY & BAND INFO (as of autumn 1971)
Split Milk [Released March 1969] Osmosis [Released October 1969] Missing Persons [Released August 1970] Cabinet of Fools [Released August 1971]
Amoeba formed in mid-1968 with original members Cameron Thom, Willie Shaw, and Dale Kenney (who remain in the band), as well as James Tinfield and Max Wyle, who were respectively replaced by Lee Brodie and Clyde Mayfield later that year. Their debut album, Split Milk, was received well by the critics, though Amoeba has made it clear that they don’t much care for what the critics think. Osmosis was released later in the same year and showed a clear progression in the band’s cohesive output. Both the Osmosis tour and the one to support their third album Missing Persons, were wildly successful in terms of gaining a fanbase and becoming a powerhouse on stage. Their unique brand of progressive rock, oftentimes leaning towards the heavier side of said genre, has been a favourite of rockers across European soil since April 1969 when their first live shows in support of Spilt Milk, originally scheduled as a domestic tour of the UK, turned into a much longer tour of Europe. Clyde remained behind the drum kit until the recording of their fourth album in the early portion of 1971, when he left the band and was replaced by Colin Foster. Drum credits on Cabinet of Fools are given to both men, who collectively have over twenty years experience with their instrument. Currently, Amoeba is wading through the North American live venue market in support of their latest record, aptly entitled Cabinet of Fools. The band’s first live album, entitled Lion Rampant in America, is set to be released by the end of 1971.

you only think chakras etc aren’t real because you’re a white american who thinks he knows everything about how the universe works because he took middle school chemistry astronomy biology and geology and knows a bunch of world war 2 factoids.
astrophysicists are still trying to figure out magnets. do you really think that out of the quadrillions of celestial bodies out there in the universe that you, virtually a speck of dust on an amoeba’s ass in the grand scheme of things, cheeto dust under your fingernails and bread crumbs in your beard and bacon bits in between your teeth and dried fecal matter decorating every wrinkle of your asshole, know a single goddamn thing about any philosophy you haven’t adopted from cultural osmosis?
maybe if your first three months of post-birth life are spent during winter months your brain chemistry and subsequently your personality changes from someone in the exact same circumstance spending their first three months of post-birth life during summer months. maybe your third through sixth months of brain development cause different functions to advance faster depending on whether it’s spring or autumn or whatever. astrology might hold scientific water considering climatology and childhood brain development but oh you browse man™️ reddit so you believe whatever you’re told to believe by people who aren’t the mainstream, who aren’t popular, who aren’t commonly circulated on social media.
maybe the pressure points in certain parts of your body send nerve signals to your brain that stimulate certain glands to secrete certain hormones so hey maybe the chakras and acupuncture and other eastern medicine might hold some water in a situation where you aren’t constantly guzzling high fructose corn syrup, RBSTs, iodized sodium chloride, and a dozen chemicals that were designed to taste like strawberry or whatever. you are not considering every single possible angle because you have a small brain and a narrow view of reality.
you cannot disprove things. you can only fail to find facts that support your hypothesis about things being fake.
science is a method, and you are not a fucking scientist.
being an asshole to horoscope people who are just having some harmless fun? that is a loser’s activity.
you can prove the earth is round. you can prove that the climate of the earth is changing. you can prove gender and sexuality exist beyond a simple binary. you can prove things that have visible repercussions on the world like rock and metal, you can prove measurable items like temperature and air pressure, you can prove people have life experiences and cultural systems apart from yours, but you can’t say for a fact that ~magick~ or whatever isn’t real. magick exists for the people it affects, chakras exist for the people they affect, astrology exists for the people it affects, just as magnetism and heat and such exist for the people it affects. and they affect people in different ways. you can eat peanuts and shellfish and eggs, but they’ll kill a bunch of people who aren’t you.
500 years ago food allergies didn’t exist. people just sometimes died after eating tomatoes or whatever.
500 years ago computers didn’t exist. now you’re reading something on a computer sent to you by another computer sent to it by another computer sent to it by the computer in my hands right now as I’m typing.
500 years ago the fucking thermometer didn’t exist.
so what the hell do you think you’re wrong about now that in 500 years they will have the technology to point and laugh at your ignorance?
you’re leaving a legacy of bitter resentment and vitriol, and spreading rudeness and hate in a world that’s already full enough of it. you’re pathetic.

How To Calculate Water Potential !^^!
Water potential is what allows water to get into plant roots when there is more solute within the root cells than the water in the soil. The soil water characteristic curves for three soils are.
Investigation to Calculate the Water Potential of Potato
In a plant cell, pressure exerted by the rigid cell wall that limits further water uptake.
How to calculate water potential. Water pressure units) potential per unit weight (h) : Water potential is calculated using the following formula: Video features real life examples of osmosis, important vocab, and introduces concept of.
How to measure water potential. Water potential of a cell has two components (e.g., osmotic and pressure potentials) as follows: The water potential will be equal to the solute potential of the solution.
Water potential in a plant cell or tissue can be written as the sum of matrix potential (due to binding of water to cell and cytoplasm) the solute potential (due to concentration of dissolve solutes which by its effect on the entropy components reduces the water potential) and. A positive percentage change in mass indicates that the potato has gained water by osmosis (net movement of water from the solution into the potato) meaning the solution had a higher water potential than the potato. In a soil profile the gravitational potential (ψ g) of water near the soil surface is always higher thanψg in the subsoil.
The general relationship between total soil water potential (ψ t) and the various factors is expressed as. Pressure potential is the pressure exerted by the rigid cell wall of a plant that limits further water uptake. Vapor pressure methods work in the dry.
Consider a potato cell is placed in pure water. In short, we need values of three main parameters i.e. 620 gals/7.48 = 83 cu.
As the quantity of water is very important to effectively plan a rainwater harvesting system, the first step is to quantify it. Explore the process of osmosis in this updated amoeba sisters video! The more solute particles added, the lower the water potential becomes which means that the more negative value.
Essentially, there are only two primary measurement methods for water potential—tensiometers and vapor pressure methods. The dewpoint hygrometer (such as the wp4c, decagon devices inc. Therefore what exact potential (.
As the presence of a solute lowers the water potential, the more concentrated the solute is, the lower the water potential will be. There is a unique relationship between water content and water potential for each soil. Formula to calculate water potential.
The square footage of a roof is the same whether it is pitched or flat. Now that you think you’ve got water potential figured out, let’s complicate matters a little bit! Assuming a depth of 12” to your absorption area, divide the total gallons captured by 7.48 (gallons in a cubic foot of area).
This is if pressure where applied to a solution it would resist the movement of water. The force of gravity acts on soil water as it does on all other bodies. There is an equation that can represent to relationship of water potential, solute potential and pressure potential:
Water will move from the area of high pressure to the area of low pressure. When a cell is immersed in water or a solution and comes in equilibrium the water poential of cell (ψinside) is equal to the water potential outside (ψ outside): Well, we've seen the equation before where we introduced ourselves to the idea of water potential, that water potential, using the greek letter psi, is going to be equal to the solute potential plus the pressure potential.
Following steps illustrate how to calculate potential supply of rainwater from the catchment area. (a) matrix potential (ψ m) (b) solute potential or osmotic potential (ψ s) (c) pressure potential (ψ p). And standard reduction potential for the o 2 /h 2 o couple is 1.23 v ( vs nhe).
He explains how water can moved through osmosi. Now, we're dealing with all open containers. The formula for calculating water potential is ψ = ψ s + ψ p
In this video paul andersen defines water potential and explains how it can be calculated in a simple system. Calculation of water potential from experimental data. The water potential of the solution at equilibrium will.
Permeable area needed to absorb the rainwater. Double that size if it's 6” deep. R = pressure constant (handbook value = 0.0831) t = temperature degrees kelvin (273 + degrees centegrade) so for my example this would be.
Water oxidation reaction is as follows: Knowing the pressure potential of the solution is zero (ψp = 0) allows you to calculate the water potential of the solution. The water potential will be equal to the = 0 + i;js or l|j = itjs at equilibrium will be equal to the water potential of the potato cells.
Stem water potential is a reading of what is going on within the xylem of the plant. Adding solutes lowers the water potential to a negative value. 35 mm diameter leaf discs [ 35 , 36 ].
To take this reading a reflective plastic bag is placed on a lower canopy, shaded leaf, and the bag is left on long enough (as little as 10 minutes may be sufficient) to allow the water tension in the leaf to come to equilibrium with the. A negative percentage change suggests the opposite. Ψ = ψ π + ψ p.
The water potential of pure water is given a value of o colossally. Water potential is expressed in in bars, a metric unit of pressure equal to about 1 atmosphere and measured with a barometer. At the minimum midday leaf water potential when the midday water potential was no less than 1.0 mpa, the growth potential or the process is given a value of 1, and the rest of the values are expressed as a fraction of that minimum.
The solute potential of this sucrose solution can be calculated using the following formula: In a general sense, the water potential is the tendency of water to diffuse from one area to another. An area of lower water potential.
Ψ t = ψ g + ψ o + ψ m. Water potential quantifies the tendency of water to move from one area to another due to osmosis, gravity, mechanical pressure and matrix effects such as capillary action (which is caused by surface tension) is calculated using water_potential = solute potential +. Water potential = pressure potential + solute potential.
The new scaled value now ranges from 0 at no growth to 1 at the potential or the maximum growth. Factors that affect water potential. A.5.es are useful because they allow us to predict the direction of the flow of water.
I = ionization constant (1 for sucrose because it doesn't ionize water) c = molar sucrose concentration at equilibrium. Ψ π (inside) + ψ p (inside) = ψ (inside) = ψ (outside) The highest water potential is found in pure water, where no solutes restricts the movement of water.
