they’re a professional ice hockey team. they’re all freaks. they have a line exclusively referred to by an acronym with another meaning just because the announcers clearly think it’s funny. some of their most iconic pairs consist of nicest guy you’ve ever met + complete asshole who really likes his teammates. they can’t spell or read. most of them don’t know more than 3 digits of pi. they all purposefully act gay for each other in several pr videos. half of them are from ontario or europe. they can blow a lead after scoring 4 goals in a row but they refuse to lose a winter classic. they have trauma from their players fainting on the bench. i didn’t say a name but they popped into your head didn’t they

brief guess on these jersey numbers just since i was at the game and i think it’s fun: binnington and neighbours jerseys were the most common by FAR, with binner possibly beating jake by just a little. thomas jerseys were definitely the most common after that (like probably a 1:3 ratio for tommer:binner if i had to guess). after that, there was a decent handful of kyrou jerseys, a little less parayko jerseys, and a bit fewer schenn jerseys. and then some sundqvist and buchnevich jerseys as well. there was also a decent mix of former players, whether super recent (tarasenko, o’reilly, pietrangelo, backes) or further back (pronger, sutter, macinnis, tkachuk). but there were honestly a lot less senko jerseys than i was expecting. i probably saw about as many former players as i did rouzys, maybe a little more. and finally, i saw two broberg jerseys and one holloway, which i thought was cute. you could really tell how new fowler is imo because i did not see a single jersey for him the whole time, and with how great of a game he had i think that made it very clear that there just hasn’t really been time to buy his jersey yet LMAO.

obviously this is just a sample size from a) what i saw and b) the demographic of blues fans capable of going/happy to go to the winter classic in chicago. but i enjoy it and i still think it’s probably pretty accurate; i was at the pre-game stuff too so i saw more than just the section i was sitting in. and i did like that we had much, MUCH more diversity in our jersey choices than blackhawks fans, who were like 80-85% bedard for sure. to me that just says that a) a lot of their fans have kind of jumped on the bandwagon and b) that is really their one player. because the most common jersey besides bedard was kane, who does not play for them anymore.

in chicago and there are SO MANY neighbours jerseys? like i’ve seen more of them than kyrou by FAR and that surprises me. i think it’s so cute though everyone likes jakey!
