@ominoose I'm just going to make a series of one shots with dad!Nathan because I'm broody and Nathan has a special place in my heart 😭

But yes I have thoughts about Blue, Laurent, and Basil! Warning, these are also long! 😂

(Going to put tw here for mentions of abortions, themes of sexism, and tampering with birth control!)

Blue Jones

is a girl dad

how he'd react to the pregnancy, both club!Blue or asylum!Blue, is similar but not

comes a surprise that you're pregnant, was not planned AT ALL

if it were asylum!Blue, he'd force you to get rid of it immediately and that would be the end of that

club!Blue would also want you to get rid of it (regardless of if you were just sleeping together or in a relationship)

because he doesn't have time, nor the patience, for a kid

but you'd tell him you want the child

he'd probably not speak to you for a while afterwards, but you made him soft

once you start showing he'll probably step up a little

only in the way Blue Jones can

which I imagine would be him offering extra snacks during your shifts at the club

giving you as many breaks as you want

he could not deal with your morning sickness at all, he had to leave the room every time you needed to puke

he swears you were in his vicinity on purpose every time your morning sickness reared its ugly head

(you did sometimes - just to piss him off)

puts you on shifts behind the bar once you really start showing

(because it doesn't look good for a pregnant dancer to be up there, and also he doesn't want the customers ogling you)

he chooses not to go to the doctor's appointments because he's a busy man

you can't expect him to just drop everything for you

(he'll go with you if you cry)

you find out you're having a girl on your own, and told him later

he did have a meltdown in his office but he comes to accept it

only turned up to the birth like right before your daughter was born

I feel like you would have named her after a flower, Daisy, Iris, Rose, Lily, Aster, Marigold, something like that

when Blue meets his daughter, he immediately falls in love

Has a mighty need to protect her all the time

Actually puts up a few photos of her on his desk at work, but always puts them away whenever someone who isn't you comes in

Technically still works a lot but his downtime is spent with your daughter

Sometimes brings her to the office when you’re working, and absolutely preens when the other girls fawn over her

Because Blue Jones makes some damn cute kids

Like Nathan, will sit her on his lap as he works, and talks to her about the profits for the month

Talks to her gently, in a voice that is never used on anyone, not even you, and you birthed the damn kid

He has a stash in one of his drawers of dummies (pacifiers) and comforters, and snacks for when she starts weaning

Also, he talks with her about how she should aim to be the best she can be

He doesn't want her to turn out like any of the other women he's come across

Treats her like a Goddamn princess, absolutely spoils her rotten

Your daughter never wants for anything, and owns more clothes than you do, thanks to Blue

She asks for a pony, she got a pony

She asks for a hamster, she got a hamster

Eventually your home has 3 dogs, 2 cats, 4 Guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, and an abundance of goldfish

You told Blue they were his responsibility since he keeps buying them

So he takes the dogs out for walks with your daughter

When your daughter is older, she always dresses up as a princess and wants to have tea parties

Something Blue is surprisingly always down for

(you've gotten a few pictures which well never see the light of day thanks to Blue, but you have them hanging up in your home)

He likes picking her up from school, where she talks to him all about her day, and he listens intently

Goes to the parent-teacher things as often as he can but that tends to be your expertise

But he makes the effort to go to all the shows where she’s performing

After having your daughter you never go back to dancing at the club (Blue's orders)

But you continue to work behind the bar

Laurent LeClaire

See, I see Laurent being both a boy and girl dad, but for the sake of argument (and the time period), I think he would want a boy at first

Because - again - of the time period, he'd want someone to carry on the family name

I see you being married to him

At first I feel like it would be a marriage of convenience, like with Thérèse, he got to sit around all day and use up her money

And you wanted your family to get off your back about being unmarried

But like you do eventually fall in love and it just works out for everyone

So it's no surprise that you end up pregnant

I don't think it would be planned in the sense of today's standards

Because it's the 1860's, everyone just assumes children would come along in a marriage

So when you end up pregnant it's not a shock

I have a feeling Laurent wouldn't be 100% on board immediately

He liked that it was just the two of you

But I think after a week he'd probably be okay with it

Is supportive as he can be but tends to hide away when anything like, medical comes about

Like symptoms, and doctor's appointments, and anything that changes your body

Again, men were never that involved during the pregnancy for the time it's just how it is

I can imagine you lived in a decently sized apartment in the centre of Paris, at least two bedrooms

(the second bedroom was his painting room, he fought tooth and nail to keep it until the baby arrived - or when your child starts crawling/walking, I'll come to that)

You go into labour in the middle of the night and Laurent is just frozen for a moment before he has to run out for the doctor

I can imagine he trips over his pants trying to get them on in a hurry

Laurent waits in the living room when the doctor arrives

Paces a lot, is just a nervous wreck

But once he hears the sound of your son crying

He also starts crying

And after a while the doctor comes out and tells him all is well, he has a son, and you’re both healthy and Laurent just sags with relief

As soon as he sees you both in your bed, he wants to paint the moment so it lasts forever

You make the quip about how sweaty and exhausted you must look so it won’t make for a very nice portrait

(He begs to differ)

I think you’d name him like Jean, or Louis

Helps out as much as he can with your son

Takes his work a bit more seriously now and has to bring home as much money as he can to keep you both happy and safe

Sits and plays with him as you clean and cook your apartment

As your son learns to move around more (and you caught him almost eating one of Laurent’s paints) Laurent has to relent and move his paints and canvases to a studio

But as he gets older, Laurent takes him and shows him around, and they sometimes paint together

Likes to paint many many MANY portraits of your kid

Like a lot

So much so that he’s finding it hard to find a home for them and they just take up an entire wall in his studio and your apartment

And there’s still many left over

Laurents also has your son's paintings hung up around the place

You catch him beaming at them at random times throughout the day

Laurent's favourite by your son is a crude painting of you after grabbing a fresh baguette from the bakery

(you took your son one morning when Laurent was at work)

Laurent buys your son a bike and teaches him to ride it up and down the Seine

It gives you hives just watching them

They both sometimes surprise you by stopping by the markets ad bringing you back a bouquet of flowers

It makes you smile every time

(you've pressed one flower from each bouquet and kept them in a book)

But you know that Laurent would do anything to keep your son safe

He wants to send him to the best schools, something he hadn’t cared for himself

Laurent makes sure your son keeps up with the work as best as he can

After a few years, I reckon Laurent would want another kid

He wouldn't be bothered this time round if it's a girl or a boy, because he'll love them just the same

Basil Stitt

Like Laurent, I can see him being a boy and girl dad

But I'm leaning towards girl dad

He absolutely planned to get you pregnant

Poked holes in the condoms

I can see him panicking that you were going to leave him or something and he needed you to stay

(you probably weren't planning on leaving him at all)

You were so confused when you ended up pregnant, because you were always so careful

(Basil also plays dumb)

But you're okay with being pregnant

I can see Basil not letting you life a finger

Like at all

To the point where you tell him if he doesn't back off, you're gonna lose it

He does eventually calm down, but still is a little overbearing

You learn to live with it

Goes to every appointment and buys you all the vitamins and best pregnancy foods

Absolutely loses it when you start showing

You are the hottest person he has ever met

You both vote to find out what you're having

Cries when he finds out it's a girl

But in a good way

Instantly starts buying stuff and getting it delivered to your shared apartment

Clears out the spare bedroom for her

Has it all decorated and set up within a week

Strangely does not panic when you go into labour

Is very calm about the whole thing, even when you're screaming at him

Drives you to the hospital

Again, waiting on you hand and foot

Getting you a drink when you need one, or some snacks

Despite not leaving you alone, he's a great birthing partner

Cries when your daughter is born

Would call her something classic, like Evelyn, Elizabeth, Alice, Grace, Abigail

Does NOT want to put her down

Ever

Has her in a carrier all the time, strapped to his chest

Even just around the apartment

Puts on Hey Bear Sensory for the dancing fruits

But always ends up dancing along with the music with your daughter

(as your daughter gets older, Basil has a fondness for Bluey and it's all they watch together)

Dresses her in the cutest outfits all the time

Puts bows in her very limited hair

Always has a spare clothes to hand though, babies are messy

I can see Basil's confidence go up with you and your daughter, and want to go outside more

Always wants to push the stroller when you're out

Like will literally bicker with you if you ever want to take it

Is the kind of dad to want to do the family portraits and hang them pride and place over the fireplace

Has an abundance of photos on his phone

I can see him doing one of those montages where he takes a photo every day and sees how she grows

Like Blue, spoils her and gives her everything she asks for

(you put your foot down at any pets - neither of you have the space nor the time for a pet)

She has a huge Barbie collection, and Basil is all but happy to play them with her

She also has a big Barbie Dream House

And a Barbie car

He is very into the PTA meetings

Does all the bake sales and school stuff

(with you, obviously)

He's the dad all the mom's fawn over because he is so involved

They always back off when they see how in love he is with you

You are the perfect family

I can see him wanting another baby, and will actually discuss it with you this time

You're happy to have another

It's probably another girl

been thinking about Oscar's characters and what they're like as dads

Spoke very briefly with @writefightandflightclub about this, months ago (can't even find the post it was that long ago - I'll link it later if I do)

Poe Dameron is a girl dad

Santiago Garcia is a girl dad (see here)

Steven Grant is a girl dad

And Marc Spector and Jake Lockley

(Jake especially)

But Nathan Bateman

Nathan Bateman oozes boy dad

Because, right:

Nathan created Ava and has the mindset that girls are scary

(And Luna pointed out that he'd be wary after that having a girl after 'the incident' and I agree)

Seems like the kind of guy to say 'first time, guaranteed' after sex, when you both agree to start trying

(he was right, it was)

(you still don't know how he did it)

Anyways, you both have a boy

He needed to find out at your anomaly scan because he hasn't been able to control one single thing during this pregnancy and he hates it

So he voted he found out the gender

Makes you put on classical music for "the foetus" (Nathan's words) because he seems like that type of guy

Not that he doubts the kid'll be a genius, but it can't hurt

When your son is here, Nathan would be a mess

It was one thing knowing you were pregnant, seeing the bump and ultrasounds and all

But now there's an actual kid

A kid that is fully reliant on him

Nathan probably wouldn't sleep for weeks

Just sit and works and watches the kid, make sure he's breathing

He'd mellow out eventually, when you'd told him he needed sleep and can't keep doing this to himself

You took over the night shift after that, mostly

He isn't the kind of dad to rough house

But one that you'll catch talking out coding issues to an infant who just stares at Nathan, just because of the sound of his voice

Your son would look nothing like you, and take everything after Nathan (he's super smug about it too - not only can he make literal lifelike robots, but he has 'superior genes' too)

Would want to call the boy something unique like Silas, or Atlas, something along those lines

You had veto'd them very quickly

But Silas grew on you, so I can imagine you agreed to a unique name

Once your son was old enough, he'd definitely teach him how to box

Since Nathan's sleep schedule is fucked (he's working on it), he's always up first with the kid

You'll always find them on the decking at the punching bag

Nathan was always guiding him, praising him when your son eventually punched the bag

You and Nathan both regularly went out on hikes (he enjoyed them more than you did) even before the kid

When the kid was born, it was easy to carry him around in a carrier on your chests

But when he got older and learned to walk, he never wanted to be carried

And the hikes took longer

So now Nathan's planned out new family friendly routes for you all, where you'll all be out for an hour, tops, and not far from the house

Nathan really hates mess, so will probably follow the kid around once he starts walking, just picking up after him

If he's stressed or hungover (he's working on that too) he would probably yell at you to sort it out

He'd apologise later after you chewed him out, even offering to do bath time and get the kid ready for bed

"I'll read him a story or some shit"

(It's probably Stephen Hawking)

He'd arrange someone to decorate the kids bedroom to look like space or something

You had a field day looking around the IKEA website and choosing what you wanted for your son's dream bedroom, but Nathan had just rolled his eyes and got the more expensive, designer, equivalent and it was delivered within a week

You'd told him off for doing it, but he just shrugged at you wordlessly as he set up the bedroom for your son

This is long enough, I'm gonna stop here, but now I want to write a full series of dad!Nathan 😭😭😭

Daemon wasn't the kind of person who'd stay secret about something he was proud about. He wanted to scream your name into the crowds - without any fear of their judgement. He was proud, and you were the opposite of that.

"Which one do you want, baby?" he asked while pointing at the two bags held by the sales associate. One was black, and the other one was white. They were the same brand - the same hardware and everything, but in your eyes they were different from each other.

"You don't have to do this babe," you lean your head on his shoulder. He presses a kiss on your forehead, smiling proudly as you continued inspecting the items in the shop. "It's not everyday that my girlfriend is nominated for an Oscar," he boasted while placing a pair of sunglasses on the sales associate's hands. "- you've been ranting about this bag for weeks. I'm buying it for you, princess." he asserted.

"I'll take the black one," you smiled, entwining your hands together as you continued strolling down the store.

He was extra when it came to everything. You'd tell him that you wanted a smoothie and he'll bring you all the flavors - you'd tell him that you were nominated for an academy award and he'd rent out the entire mall. It was impressive to see the lengths of what his money could provide, but it was more impressive to see his efforts.

"I'm so proud of you," he whispered, keeping his arms around your waist. "Thank you for doing this, babe." your smile deepened. He spots another store in his periphery - and he wastes no time in leading you inside.

"- and the winner is therese!" the hosts announce your stage name, and the tears began flowing out of your eyes.

You finally made it!

Your manager presses a kiss to your cheek, before helping you gather your gowns and walk to the stage. The hosts give you the award - muttering a few words of congratulations.

You walk up the podium, staring at the faces of your peers. A decade ago, you were the one watching them on the screen - and now you were one of them.

You stare at the camera, with tears still flowing down your eyes. "Daemon, baby we did it!" was the first thing you said, and the crowd erupts into a second round of cheers.

"I want to thank everyone especially the academy, my co-workers, the directors, the writers and the producers. I couldn't have done it without you." you thanked, wiping the tears away from your eyes using a small handkerchief.

"I want to thank all of my fans for supporting me. I'm so sorry, I didn't prepare a speech because I thought Meryl Streep would win. I'm just really glad to be among these women today." you smiled, knowing that he was watching you from the screen.

Just found out my first friend I made on tumblr passed away from a blood clot. Her name was Therese. I started talking to her way back in 2016 or 17 probably when I just started sharing Rose of Versailles / Lady Oscar content. Don’t recall her original url. We became friends on Facebook and it seemed she got very depressed in 2022 and she stopped posting. I thought not much of it and just wanted to check in on her today, an entire year later. She passed away a couple of weeks after her last Facebook post. Very sad today… I wish we’d talked more. What an amazing, funny girl… don’t let anyone hate themselves, it’s insane
