@itisonlyeyes your henna design has made me think about jmart south Asian wedding and I'm Not Ok
Jon in a beautifully gorgeous deep green, bedazzled kurta/lehenga hybrid so like slightly more masculine kurta with some small, neat embroidery on the edges with a flowy huge lehenga skirt
He didn't go for the dupatta/orna/scarf cause hes still not great with potential restrictions of movement
He's all decked out in the bridal jewellery - my man is wearing the Biggest silver earrings, he's got the massive fake nose piercing that connects to his hair and hes SLAYING. (Maybe his grandma passed them down??)
You bet he's got that brooding bridal look down!! Although he sees Martin and he cannot keep it up for the life of him he's just a smiling mess
There's no loud music. (I know I'm sorry but it's them, the music is simple and meaningful and the guest list is small so its not quite the usual south Asian wedding but they enjoy themselves)
Martin is dressed very smartly in a light blue kurta, with billowing embroidery etching it's down up the kurta's sleeves and following in henna down his hands
He'd wearing light blue nail polish to match and his hair is dyed the same colour at the edges
I like the idea of Jon and martin sitting down and talking about what they wanted and coming up with the rituals not cause of the religious or cultural significance but because of what it meant to them specifically.
Like they do vows cause Martin has always loved that part of weddings and let's be honest, he just wants a chance to say nice things about Jon without him protesting and Jon agrees cause of literally the same reason (they're not good at compliments)
They do the turns around the fire but they hold hands instead of being tied to each other cause they feel like it represents how they chose each other and they do 15 turns cause it's Martin's lucky number (they first met on the 15th October 2015)
They skip the haldi cause sensory issues
They instead get everyone to make their own flower garlands and give them to each other and obviously Jon and Martin make each others flower garlands and Jon mostly agrees to it cause Martin seemed enthusiastic about it and he did want to keep the giving each other flower garland ritual but he gets the Most Excited about it in the end cause hes super detail oriented about his, making sure each flower is specifically positioned how he wants it to and Martin's going off just vibes. They must be the correct vibes but vibes nonetheless.
I love the idea of doing the bride's side has to steal the grooms shoes and the grooms side has to stop this from happening so we can get Shenanigans (Tim is the most intense about this. Gerry comes a close second. Sasha wins though.)
There aren't so much sides, cause everyone's friends with both, which makes the shoe game even more intense cause you never know when people will swap sides.
Gerry does their henna. He just gives off good at drawing vibes I dunno.
#feel free to add your own#tma#the magnus archives#jonathan sims#martin k blackwood#jmart#jonmartin#lonelyeyes#tim stoker#sasha james#gerard keay#jmart fluff#its late so maybe ill think more about this later#but here you are

Idk if it would be fun but like Noelle side by side the normal route one( prob in regular clothes idk) and the weird route (like her outfit but more icy, snowflakes maybe, icicles?) , orna triple Noelle like the idea from last sentence but real world Noelle( in like a Christmas sweater and all that) is in the middle, like that probably exists somewhere to show that she could go down two different paths, but ngl the composition would probably change if real world Noelle was in the middle, so much ways to do it ig or maybe it's just me
it WOULD be fun and it WAS and i also think im finally finding a style to draw backgrounds with lol. very proud of this i have been drawing it for nearly 18 days (more effort than i usually put in)

This picture is by the Israeli artist Shoshke (Ze'ev) Engelmayer, whose art has been devoted to the Israeli-Hamas war since Hamas attacked on October 7, 2023. He has painted many of the hostages, and prints and posters of his paintings have been taken to the Israeli demonstrations to free the hostages and to oppose the current government. They've also been displayed around the world. He is one of the Israeli artists I started following on Facebook after the war began.
This is Omer Neutra, an Israeli-American who was thought to have been taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, but it was just discovered that he died fighting Hamas on that day or the day after, and that his body was taken to Gaza and is still being held by Hamas. His family has been hoping for over a year that he was still alive, as did his friends (including some of my students at my college).
Omer was apparently a great lover of cats, and the caption for this painting read: "Omer will not return to the cats."
This is a translation of what Shoshke wrote on his Facebook page about Omer:
Omer Nautra, a lone soldier who came from New York to Kibbutz Afikim, has been declared to have fallen in the war. Morit wrote to me about him: Hello Shoshka, I want to tell you about our Omer, Omer Neutra, who was kidnapped by Hamas and we haven't heard from him since he was kidnapped. When Omer, a lone soldier, arrived from New York to Kibbutz Afikim, I brought him a cat. He and the guys called her Cactus. When he came to visit from the army, he liked to sleep with her on the couch. ✨ Omer really likes cats. In New York he had a cat, which is still waiting there for Omer. Every cat he met on the kibbutz would approach him, and Omar would hug and talk to him. Yes, talking. Omer told us that he knows the language of cats, and can talk to them. Could you draw a postcard of Omer, returning from captivity, to the cats he loves so much, and they love him?" ✨ I drew Omar with the cats and met with his parents, Orna and Ronan, and his brother Daniel. I felt sadness and pain from them that is hard to describe, and concern for the son in captivity. Since he was kidnapped, they have done everything to remind and act, for Omer's return. Orna showed me pictures and videos of him with cats, happy with them and cuddling, and also with Cactus, the cat brought to him by Nurit Gat, in Kibbutz Afikim. Charming, soft people with inner strength, whose world was destroyed one day, and their loved one was taken away, and did everything to get him back. We talked in the living room and the eyes got wet on their own. And before we parted I gave them the drawing of Omar and the cats. And today it was learned that Omar will not return to them, nor to the cats.

Fan Chon Hoo in New York, #Day 25
I did the Hamilton Grange National Memorial tour with Dan from apexart this morning. Hamilton Grange National Memorial preserves the original home of Alexander Hamilton (1802). I did not know much about Alexander Hamilton, and I have just learned that he was orphaned as a child, grew up in the Caribbean, and was a polyglot and prolific writer who later became the U.S. secretary of the Treasury during George Washington's presidency. There is a long-running biographical musical made about him. We had a very passionate volunteer tour guide, Krista, who had the stamina and enough material to go on for a full day tour. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Alexander Hamilton and the Grange, Hamilton’s residence. The Grange is a two-story, symmetrical, Federal-style house. I was shocked to learn that the house was physically moved by using a dolly system. There’s an interesting anecdote about Thomas Jefferson buying a roman-style marble bust of Hamilton to be placed in the same room with a much larger bust of his own.
I sat in for a Zoom writing session organized by Gotham Writers. Founded in 1993, Gotham Writers evolved from a New York City institution to a virtual hub for writers worldwide. The session was communal, with regular writers who tuned in to exercise their writing muscles and a few newcomers like myself. We gave writers 15 minutes to write in response to the given prompt, followed by voluntary reading, critique, and comments. It felt like a burst of a hyper-concentrated life drawing session; instead of reacting to the drawing subject visually, we responded to the prompt through words. There was little time to structure our thinking, but to write intuitively. I don’t think I have enough writing experience to be able to express myself freely through words, but it was a good exercise. And is it great to learn that there are many available communities for such support. I liked one of the readings by a Haitian poet/writer, Jerrice J. Baptiste, who’s just recently published a book called “Coral in the Diaspora.” Her writing seemed unforced and relatable.
The last activity of the day was to attend a sharing called “Relationships: Same, Same but Different” at the Gerald D. Fischbach Auditorium, Flatiron Institute. The biophysicist Jasmin Imran Alsous and Orna Guralnik, a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, engaged in an interesting discussion about relationships, both social and biological. Through the session, Imran shared that, despite being the largest cell in the human body, an egg doesn’t become one on its own, and it requires many other nurturing cells to support its growth, like the queen bee. In order to be more energy efficient, sperm often swim together; this process is a collective effort. The etymology of the word 'cell' originates from the concept of a monk's monastery, specifically a room. Guralnik asserted that, despite their seemingly disparate approaches, both of their works share a common methodology for identifying patterns within chaos. Before the session ended, there was a slightly awkward moment when Guralnik, who is Jewish, attempted to expand the subject and draw parallels between the relationship between Palestine and Israel. Imran, a Palestinian by birth, responded briefly to her experiences growing up in Palestine and redirected the conversation back to biology. I left briefly after the reception. The reception hall had screens showing videos of the growth of an egg cell and how sperm were moving collectively. The phrase—“It takes a village to raise a kid”—was uttered a few times by both of the speakers, and we can observe this in egg cells and sperms.

KHOC Week 2023 Day 3: Friends or Lovers
(AKA my chance to shamelessly ramble about my ship for @khoc-week)
Yui spent much of her life keeping other people at arm’s length and didn’t really have close friends. Being treated as a liability at best and a monster at worst made her feel as if she was undeserving of love, and with echoes of another life’s tragedy playing over and over again in her head, she became scared to lose the things she cared about.
So what a surprise it was when Yui’s strongest bond outside of her siblings became the one she shares with Aqua. The two spent a short time in the realm of darkness surviving together, though Aqua was initially suspicious of Yui due to her darkness-aligned nature and unnatural abilities. They eventually came to look out for each other and learn about the loved ones the other had been separated from. During that time Yui began to both admire and envy Aqua’s steadfastness and faith, to the point where Yui was willing to do whatever it took to get Aqua back to the realm of light—even though Yui herself secretly planned to stay behind in the darkness where she felt she belonged.
Of course Aqua wasn’t willing to let her do that, so she (along with Yui’s stubborn little sister Hikaru) went to drag Yui out and make sure she knew people cared about her. Yui was touched by the realization and grateful for the second chance. Once she was back in the realm of light, she became a treasured confidant and a source of support for Aqua as the latter readjusted to being back around people after so long. The two became even closer, and the night before the confrontation at the Keyblade graveyard, Yui kissed her—an action that surprised and flustered Aqua, but one that she reciprocated.
Of course everything had to be put on hold until after battles were over, and even then there's so much that needs to be done in the aftermath of Keyblade graveyard, but at least once things settle down the two of them get some time to relax with each other. I even had some pictures commissioned of those moments! :D
(Above: this lovely picture of Yui and Aqua hanging out at Yui's Twilight Town flat is by @hinataoc, I adore all the details she put into it to make things cozy)
(Above: this amazing picture by @amyhayanora captures one of their favorite hobbies to do together, dancing! I love the pose and the lighting, like a moment captured in time)
Overall they’re a sweet couple, supportive of each other and protective and fiercely loyal. They're my self-indulgent ship for this fic universe and they mean a lot to me.

FFXIVWrite Day #10: Stable
A continuation of the previous discussion between Vrjn and Orion. A remote site, far out from civilization.
"Call out your avatar, now." Orion growls flatly to Vrjn. Having since long proven she's out of her depths, she complies by using her scythe to rip a gash between worlds from thin air, a dark presence's threatening gaze piercing through the veil. Out stretches a sharp, hideous claw as the avatar crawls out of the rift, finding itself wrapped around Vrjn, coddling her threateningly.
"Vrjn... is it time for a feast? I hunger... and this tasty little snack in front of me looks absolutely delightful..."
"N-no, this is-" Vrjn starts before the hairs on the back of her neck start to stand upright as she feels a shift in the air, watching the aether around her start to draw towards a staff in the hands of Orion, the greenery slowly fading to a brown, lifeless husk.
"Close your eyes! Now!" Orion shouts, giving Vrjn just enough of a warning before the aether erupts into a bright light, a tingling surge rippling up her spine as the avatar releases her with a shriek. "You vile existence, this is your singular warning. Amdapori teachings are far from extinct, and if you dare to give in to your greed, I will end you." Vrjn trembled where she stood, all too familiar with the transgressions that just took place. Finding a clearing, far away from the city-states made all too much sense. Orion was no simple conjurer, this was forbidden white magics that she's only read of in books.
"Keheheheh, my little Vrjn keeps potent company. I'll allow you the idea of having the upper hand in this contract, and will play my part in our bargain. Vrjn..." The avatar wraps her in its embrace again. "I'll give you all the power you desire, just keep me fed, as promised. If I need to use you to sate my needs, just know this little charade has done little more than show off a fine delicacy." Vrjn trembles, but nods along to the avatar's words, and upon acknowledgment, the avatar dissipates around her.
"Orna... I really screwed up, didn't I?" Vrjn eeks out, trembling as she falls to her knees. Quietly, one step at a time, Orion makes their way to her side, resting a hand on her shoulder.
"That you did, but we can't rest easy, moving forward. Never let the voidsent go hungry. You will never live a stable life with this contract over your shoulder. You must reap what you've sown, and make certain your contract is in good standing for as long as you live." Orion let's out a sigh as they drop to their knees, embracing her from behind. "My little Vrjn, poor little Vrjn... None of us will have the luxury of a normal life, will we?"
Vrjn's eyes start to water as she begins to weep, clutching at Orion's arm for comfort. The two remain there for a moment, wallowing in the misfortune befallen the young Rava, before setting off, back toward home.

How to Preserve Flowers
Floral beauty is fleeting, but it can be preserved with the right methods. From air drying to glycerin preservation, this guide will cover a variety of ways to keep flowers looking beautiful for years to come.
Dried and preserved flowers are perfect for weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions. They also offer a unique touch to commercial and hospitality spaces.
Air Drying
Whether you want to create wreaths, long-lasting bouquets or decorate your home with Preserved flowers that have the look of vintage blooms, air drying is an easy and inexpensive way to preserve them. The process involves wrapping small bunches of flowers tightly in twine or ribbon and hanging them upside down in a dark, dry, wellventilated space. Choose sturdy, mature flowers that are just beginning to open, and avoid tying together those with spongy petals or those that have already lost most of their color.
For a faster version of this method, cover the blossoms in a silica gel desiccant that can be purchased at craft stores. The granular gel is reusable and works just like sand, and it draws the moisture out of your flowers as they dry, preventing mold.
Freeze-Drying
Freeze drying is a popular method of preservation, especially for wedding bouquets. This is because it retains the shape and color of the flowers, making them look almost identical to their original state. It is also a very quick process, and results in a very high quality end product.
The process, known as lyophilization, freezes the product at extremely low temperatures. This allows the solid water to be turned into a vapor without passing through the liquid phase, which prevents unwanted chemical reactions. The result is a very high quality, heat-sensitive product that maintains structure and nutrient content with minimal loss of aroma and flavor (Trinklein, 2006).
It is a very complicated process that requires the right equipment, which Austin Preservations has invested in. The flower is loaded into the freezer, and then a vacuum pump pulls the air out of the chamber, freezing the flower. This is a process that takes over 10 days, and the flowers are checked regularly to ensure they are frozen through.
Glycerin Preserving
Glycerin is the most popular method for preserving flowers. It is especially well suited to flowers like roses and daisies, but also hydrangeas, and other flower types that retain color and shape after preservation. It is also an excellent way to preserve leaves from trees and shrubs in your garden, such as nandina, ivy, camellias, 'Little Gem' magnolia and Carolina cherry laurel.
To glycerin preserve your flowers, fill a container with one part vegetable glycerin and two parts water. Crush the bottom of your plant material (leaves, stems or flowers) to encourage uptake and arrange them in the liquid without overcrowding. Keep the plants in the glycerin solution until you can feel a waxy or oily residue on the tips of the leaves; this indicates that the glycerin has been fully absorbed. The plant should then be stored in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight until ready to use. This typically takes about a week to three weeks.
Other Methods
While air drying is the most common method for Preserved flowers in Liverpool, it’s not the only option. Pressing, drying in the oven, and even using resin to preserve flowers can all be effective means of locking in your favourite blooms.
Resin is a popular choice for preserving flowers and can be found at craft stores. It’s important to wear rubber gloves and a face covering when handling resin, as it is a potent chemical with harmful side effects.
To use this technique, you will need to gather your favourite flowers and a large container. Fill the bottom of the container with silica gel and then add your flowers, gently pressing them down on top to cover them completely. Allow the flowers to sit for a few days. Once they have fully dried, they can be used for various projects like floral ornaments and mugs. They also make great gifts. Because they last so long, they leave a lasting impression that shows you cared enough to invest your time and money into them.
