hey, it's me again! after a whole 2 days, i've finished redoing Nightmare. to be honest i didnt expect myself to work that fast but i guess i was THAT devoted to redoing her entire character. it's a really long file so it's obviously gonna be put under read more. there'll be a preview up until her profile below

special thanks to @cherry-blossomtea and another friend for helping me research DID as well as talking about their experiences with DID themselves. and obviously thanks @adorablegorilla for inspiring me to do this (although i did take a lot of liberties remaking Nightmare's character. found the evil alter thing distasteful)

Profile

Nyx is a Victorian operating under the codename Nightmare with her headmate, Gloria. Prior to their entry into Rhodes Island, Nyx was a college student who studied medical Arts. Gloria came later during her life due to an unspecified event* before her subsequent infection. They now currently work in Rhodes Island’s triage section, working to help patients as well as Operators in the battlefield.

Clinical Testing

Imaging tests for this Operator showed a blurry outline of internal organs with visible unusual dark spots. Unusually high concentrations of Originium particles were present in her circulation, indicating signs of infection and confirming her as infected at this stage.

Gloria is known to be gentle, almost to a fault. She doesn’t strike anyone as the type who would go out in the battlefield, instead giving the impression that she would rather stay and help others in the infirmary. This view is only half the truth. While Gloria does indeed want to help others, she wishes to do so in a manner that both soothes and protects her fellow operators onboard. In the ship, she is often the one who consoles others during their time of need. This is especially true for those who are currently experiencing traumatic stress. Surprisingly Gloria seems to have a good handle on how to deal with such matters, to the point that she could very well apply to be a therapist. It’s even more surprising that Gloria chose to become a battlefield operator, though this is because by her and Nyx’s volition, they want to help people wherever they can.

Operator Nightmare suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder. In rudimentary terms, DID is when a person suffers from having two or more personalities, also known as alters, in their consciousness. Currently, Nightmare has two headmates that are present, that being Nyx and Gloria, the latter of which tends to be fronting much of the time.

On the subject of Nyx, who is the oldest alter before Gloria came to be, she appears to be far more reserved compared to the more sociable Gloria. She usually remains dormant for long periods of time, often letting Gloria front whenever possible. On the chance that Nyx is fronting however, she shows herself to be far quieter than Gloria is. When talking to others, she speaks in a hushed voice and is quick with her words. She also tends to be more upfront and honest, which has led to others conflicting with Nyx from time to time. From Gloria’s words however, this isn’t because Nyx chooses to be mean, this is only because Nyx isn’t sure how she can talk to others. 

Currently, Gloria is undergoing talks with Nyx in order to help her open up, but she also stresses that Nyx must be given time before she can properly do so. On that note, Operators should be mindful of who they are speaking to at the moment and that proper respect should be given to Nyx’s situation.

Nyx has attended many classes regarding medicine and psychology, to the point that she often spent time reading up on the subject matters during her free time which has resulted in her stifled sociality. This may have also given way to her blunt nature, as Gloria admitted that Nyx often got into trouble by her own volition simply because she was honest in a manner that hurt others. Nyx doesn’t seem to understand why this is but seeing as this was the consequence of her honesty, she wishes to learn how she can avoid hurting others in the future.

Both Nyx and Gloria have an interest in medicine, psychology and Originium, a somewhat broader range of interest compared to others. Although Nyx was born in a Victorian city that focused on artistry, with her father working in the pottery business, Nyx opted to follow her mother’s footsteps, who worked at the local hospital.

Her interest in Originium came about after Gloria had manifested. Both have been seen attending classes and reading up on Originium and its effects in Rhodes Island. As Gloria stated, “We want to know about Originium simply because we don’t want others to suffer because of it, as well as helping others become safer around it”. To say that Nyx and Gloria are determined to work hard and help others is an understatement.

On the subject of medicine and psychology, it seems the interests somewhat split with Nyx leaning more into studying psychology and Gloria studying medicine more often. Nyx appears to be up to speed on most mental disorders and knows how to deal with them in their proper manner while Gloria’s knowledge on medicine allows her to work in Rhodes Island’s infirmaries without trouble, assisting the doctors if she is available. Their efforts in both departments are commendable and their knowledge will prove fruitful to Rhodes Island’s advances in care.

When Gloria is fronting, the Arts unit becomes more effective at healing operators on the field, targeting multiple people at once. The healing Arts is immensely effective, allowing operators to stand longer and keep fighting. It also has the effect of making our operators feel more alert and thus more vigilant during their battles, increasing their performance in combat.

For someone so young, Nyx shows a surprising aptitude for battle. Although Gloria has only had one month of combat experience and has focused mostly on first aid, Nyx seems to have the battlefield almost under her control. This is attributed to her Arts unit, which was discovered to have two functions based on whoever is currently fronting at the moment.

On the other hand, when Nyx is fronting the Arts unit becomes focused on keeping enemies back. When used on enemies, it puts them into a dreamlike state where their consciousness appears to dissociate from the current reality. This often causes them to give up fighting in bizarre ways, the most common of which involves them dropping their weapons and staring up at the sky, with some of them slowly wandering the area aimlessly. Why this happens is currently unknown, as Nyx refuses to divulge for the time being. Many operators who have been in field missions with Nyx have said it to be unnerving, unsure what to think when they see the people they were fighting with “suddenly fall asleep while awake”.

One notable incident happened during one of Nightmare’s field missions with Nyx fronting. While fighting a particularly dangerous enemy, she wound up forcing them into a REM state. This resulted in the enemy panicking as though experiencing vivid nightmares, constantly screaming for nonexistent entities to stop while begging for their life to be spared. It was only when they were knocked out that they ceased their panic. After this, Nyx was told not to do this again although it doesn’t seem like she was particularly affected by this event.

While walking back home from college to visit her parents, she decided to take a quick shortcut through one of Londinium’s districts to head there faster. However, she wound up getting caught in the middle of the Kazdel-Victoria crisis where the district she was in ended up getting caught in the middle of the artillery barrages. With nowhere else to go, Nyx was forced to run aimlessly through Londinium in an attempt to get away from the situation. Although mostly successful, the event left her deeply traumatized. In the state the district was in, she had to fend for herself no matter what.

After a long time, Nyx and Gloria eventually agreed to share how they came to be. Upon their request, this file should also be kept secret from the general staff of Rhodes Island.

The next few days were described to be a living nightmare. She ran afoul with some of the district’s residents whose rationales were gradually deteriorating. Nyx wasn’t an exception as she also began to steal from others whenever she could just so she could make it to another day, even going as far as to attack others who attempted to steal from her. This all eventually culminated into her breakdown when one night, while hiding away in a shelter, someone had broken into it and attempted to steal her supplies. When Nyx tried to fight back, the attacker was far more aggressive than she thought and nearly killed her. Out of desperation, Nyx casted her Arts onto her attacker. Rather than putting them to sleep however, the blast was powerful enough to not only put her attacker to near death but also caused him to experience live nightmares. The end result was that the attacker was left screaming for help for the next few seconds before finally perishing.

Horrified by her actions, her stress finally broke her down. She underwent a severe mental and emotional breakdown before her mind eventually “quarantined” the stressor. For the next few minutes, Nyx had no success of calming down until she suddenly heard Gloria’s voice, who immediately began to reassure her and that everything will eventually be alright. After that, Gloria was able to help Nyx through the crisis however she could, right up until they joined Rhodes Island when they entered one of our buildings in Victoria.

The event has changed Nyx forever and it is certainly not something she’ll easily forget, but she is forever grateful that Gloria was born during her greatest time of need.

To this day, Nyx and Gloria have been continuously communicating to each other about their activities this way but after their therapy sessions, have also been figuring out alternative ways to break down their amnesiac barriers. This led to them creating a headspace of their own, which Gloria described to be a small bedroom in the middle of the night, with a nightlight on at all times. According to Gloria, this is what they find most comforting.

Promotional Record

Prior to them joining Rhodes Island, whenever Nyx and Gloria switched they often forgot about their alter’s activities during their time fronting. Gloria was the first to notice this problem when she spoke to Nyx during their time in Victoria, after hearing the latter ask what Gloria did. With this problem in mind, Gloria had the idea of using a journal she found to document both her and Nyx’s activities so that until they find proper shelter, their alter can remember what the other did so that they are aware of what happened.

Talk 1 - When we got into Rhodes Island, we weren’t sure what we were expecting… including the kindness that everyone was expressing! It’ll take a bit for Nyx to get used to, but I think she’ll also do just fine here!

Talk 2 - Our staff was given to us by Nyx’s dad. It has the power to sorta put people to sleep but to be honest, using the staff isn’t really a wise choice if we actually want to sleep…

Talk 3 - When I’m alone and Nyx is awake, we talk to each other. The same goes for Nyx too. Hm? Do people think it’s weird? I don’t think Nyx would care, as long as she has someone to talk to… and, well, she’s right for it.

Talk after Promotion 1 - There wasn’t a moment where I could get a good night’s rest back in Victoria… but when Gloria came along, I was finally able to rest. But… I do feel bad for making her go through those horrors. She’s a really brave person.

Talk after Promotion 2 - Oh, what’s that? Our Oripathy is worsening? Yes, that’s been a really big concern of ours… but we’re sure that Rhodes Island can do something. Right Nyx? … mhm.

Trust Talk 1 - Erm, let me apologize on Nyx’s behalf! She really didn’t mean to start that fight in the hallway, I promise! It’s just been a while since she properly talked to someone so her social skills are a bit rusty… but I promise, I’ll help her learn how to socialize better. Just please be patient with her?

Trust Talk 2 - If I’m allowed to be a little morbid here… you’re essentially the leader of Rhodes Island, right? If you die out there, I’d imagine that your operators… your friends, they wouldn’t take it well. Well, that’s why we’re here! We’ll protect you, and everyone, from the threats outside. Profile A contributing member of Rhine Lab’s Originium Art Section, Doctor Valerie decided to join Rhodes Island as operator Iremia due to personal differences with Rhine Lab’s goals. She’s made great strides while working under Dorothy Franks, and numerous life saving devices have been invented in her name. Aside from some memory issues, her knowledge of Originium should prove valuable at Rhodes Island.

Clinical Analysis Imaging tests reveal clear, normal outlines of internal organs, and no abnormal shadows have been detected. Originium granules have not been detected in the circulatory system and there is no sign of infection. At this time, this operator is believed to be uninfected.

[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.13u/L Operator Iremia deals often with Originium based experiments, but takes unusually excessive amounts of safety precautions. With the frequency and volume of these experiments, she should be monitored more regularly, however at this point we think it's unlikely she will get infected.

Archive File 1 When Iremia first joined Rhodes Island, she struggled to make friends. She’d often find herself eating alone in the cafeteria, or isolated in the labs performing all sorts of experiments. Some operators thought she was standoffish or rude. Though, after operator Dorothy joined, she started opening up more – thanks to Dorothy pulling her into conversations. This led to her befriending a number of other scientist and medical personnel – notably Rhine Lab operators and operator Weedy.

Archive File 2 Other operators have been coming to Iremia to change benign aspects of themselves, resulting in some files being inaccurate. It turns out that Iremia’s arts can alter people’s heights, weight, hair color, and various other physical aspects. Kal’tsit has issued a mandate that operators can no longer bother Iremia for these changes, as it has resulted in requiring to update approx. 200 files.

Archive File 3 Iremia has briefly discussed her desire for a cure to oripathy – chiefly her Mom. Iremia can still be found in her dorm crying over this subject, so please refrain from bringing it up unless she initiates.

Regardless her reasons, she has put more hours in the lab than Silence with regards to experiments and tests to further our understanding of the disease. This has led to infected operators finding Iremia to be genuine, and easy to confide in. However, this has also led to Iremia attending every infected operator’s cremation. This should be noted with regards to her mental health, and perhaps we should limit her access to them.

On top of all of this, Iremia has already found a way to slow minor infection rates to a surprising degree – though not effective against heavier infections. Even if it’s not a cure, this breakthrough has bolstered her confidence and mood substantially.

Archive File 4 Iremia has established several romantic relationships with other operators, so needless to say she’s adjusted to Rhodes Island. She’s been spotted making out with a number of others in hallway corners, and for some reason when this was brought up to Kal’tsit she seemed unsurprised, and unbothered. This has led to some operators starting betting pools on the exact number of partners Iremia has among Rhodes Island. The current highest bet is thirty operators.

A younger but spiltting image of his ancestor Philip Wittebane, that Excluding the Yellow and Red Cardinal feathers growing around his Face and body and the Horns growing out the sides of his head.

He has the mix of Brown and Red headed hair, tied in the Exact same way of his Ancestor.He appears to have a Stern and Intimidating look but actually he is one big walking Klutz with a tendency to wake up and choose Violence if he doesn't feel well.

Personality:

Despite coming from Hunter and Willow's line, he looks alot like Philip Wittebane, he gained Willow's Kind and Bubbly Nature but that is often Hidden by his Intimidating and Stern look, so under that he is a confident, laid-back and easygoing man and often has a snarky and Sarcastic yet Gentlemanly tone.

He is quite an inquisitive man that is shown in combat to be quite apathetic and Deceptive, when asked about it, he would say, "It has always been like that", almost as if it was a Hereditary Curse of some sort.

According to him, the codename 'Belos' is a forbidden name that is never to be used in his family for some reason. But now he has taken that for himself as he has exiled out of his Family due to his infection.

He seem to go solo on certain occasions in combat, due to his strange nature in such situations, making quite a hard person to work with at times, but most Operators tend to get along with him, especially Children like Popuka or Durin.

Another Operator known as Azura, seem to be quite wary of him despite never actually interacting physically with her, he is just as Confused on why she dislikes him.

Style of fighting:

He has the same Zigzag knife of his Ancestor, often using the art of Cloak and Dagger, so he is fighting like Assassin staying true to his Apathetic nature.But when unleashing his arts, he can summon Sludge from his hands and can blades from said Powers in which he can cause Rot and decay, he only use Arts when absolutely necessary.

I made an Arknights x The Owl House crossover OC

This is a Crossover I don't think would EVER happen but it is cool to imagine.

I chose Kazdel as his Region and made him a Chimera because it's based off Philip's Character, who was a Puritan and a Witch Hunter then I subvert his traits to form a character.

Kazdel is known as a Nation without a Home relating to Philip even though he got back to Earth, it isn't the home he swore to return to.

Kazdel is based off the Holy Roman Empire/German Reich and the Kingdom of Israel, this is a Reference to a fan Comic I saw of Young Philip speaking German and his faith which originated from Israel.

The Region is also home to Sarkaz that are known as the Devils or Demons of Arknights, making this character a Complete Irony to Philip. As the Sarkaz are a group of people who are oppressed by the majority of Terra as Propaganda distort History on both Sarkaz and rest of the Terra's population.People call their Arts, Black Magic or Witchcraft.

Then the Liberi parts which are Cardinal Feathers which not only relate to Hunter but also Philip as he killed Flapjack.Basically Simon is all of Philip's Mistakes on Display, having Hunter's Descendant looking like the spiltting image of Philip is an extra, it's final kick of Vengeance against Hunter.

Simon is however Innocent in this context, someone that has to live with the Mistakes of others that he does not know.While he is, the way he is because of his personality, he is still in some cases, morally grey as he works as a Sarkaz Mercenary before joining Rhodes Island, I mean he has to be to even survive Terra.

If he were to Meet the real Belos, he would not hesitate to draw his Knife at him.

Patient's assessment proceeded after recovery of surgical removal of originium crystals grown under the skin. Degree of movement was restricted in the X and Y axis, primarily on the tail and less so on the lower back, although crystals are expressed on the skin. After cutting the crystals and removing them to create a chevron-like negative space between large protrusions, and surgically removing or separating growths under the skin, subject is observed to be incredibly expressive through his massive tail.

Arts utilization prioritizes the subject himself, and it is theorized that the condition of the subject's body is at this current state through passive use of Arts without a Unit, considering the ability to bolster strength or defenses when need arises.

Endurance evaluation is unsurprising due to the subject's prior line of work, and is very used to working long hours with heavy labor. Subject expressed preference with being "hands on", and does not seem to be able to use his Arts over a distance. Scars

Monsoon's scars-- Save for Kal'tsit, Gladiia, and Flamebringer, no one has had a full view of Monsoon's scarred body.

He has two large scars on his stomach. Both are from when RI was Babel. One was inflicted by an assassin and another is from when he was incapacitated by Kal'tsit/Mon3tr. His other scars are smaller and are barely noticeable...

"I don't get it but my body kind of hates needles. Maybe it's something I've forgotten..." Macario left Ægir after he found out that his wife had brought the young Monsoon to state laboratories for the infamous super-soldier projects.

Having gone through the experiments himself, he left his wife in a fit of rage and brought his son to the Islanders yet he continued to fight for his homeland. The smaller scars on Monsoon's body are from needles and tubes. He briefly went through the experiments though it was cut short after he "died."

He was pronounced as a casualty of the experiments but with a bit of politics and threats, his name disappeared off registries. He's weaker than any of the Hunters or the cult's attempts to replicate their kind. However, his body heals faster than an average person.

The Doctor has no exceptional Arts proficiency, no amazing powers, not athletic, and easily tired. He's pretty high maintenance to the point where it kind of pisses people off. His way with words, however, is something else.

Is Surtr the only Normal Terran that has Flawed Arts Assimilation? That feels significant, is her sword Actual Magic like the Sui? The sword seems to actively reject Originium or atleast slowed her infection.

A question about Amaia: did she become partially Seaborn before the story starts? Because she can create nethersea brands, and the Seaborn calls her kin. If so, how come she can still use Arts? I thought Seaborn and part-Seaborn creatures are unable to use or be infected by Originium?

She was probably partly Seaborn before the story begins, although there's some wiggle-room there since Skadi notes when they bump into her in Gran Faro that she doesn't smell like the sea at all. Personally I think it's more likely that she found a better way to hide it than that she did all the modifications off-screen between scenes.

As for Originium, it's not like there's some metaphysical conflict between Seaborn and Originium, it's just that Originium does not naturally exist in the ocean so they're not used to it, and when it enters their body their blood tries to fight it off like an infection (which it is, so that's pretty normal). Their immune systems are also way better, which is how Specter is even alive right now.

So in that sense, there's nothing to say they can't ever use Arts, and more that they would have never had the opportunity to try because they are much more efficient at removing Originium from their bodies. Someone in the story even speculates that given enough time they might evolve complete immunity to Oripathy, although I might go a step further and guess that they might eventually integrate it into their bodies on purpose, like Originium slugs and other wildlife.

Anyway, going back to Amaia, my guesses are A) she found way to get around that problem and use Arts normally, or B) she's using Arts entirely external to her body, so they problem doesn't come up. Recall that Leithenien has, like, automated turrets and stuff, and even a normal person's Arts Unit is where most of the magical stuff is happening. I don't think it's ever been claimed that you actually need, like, the Caster themselves to channel the magic. Heck, magic literally happens completely on its own in the wilderness just because there's enough Originium lying around: that's what a Catstrophe is. As a scientific phenomenon, it doesn't require direct human intervention.

Just guessing though, it is a sort of interesting question given how much they emphasize that the Hunters are all Flawed in Originium Assimilation.

Profile

Yrelia, codenamed Sparrow, a member of the Maureny noble family of Victoria. According to her own statements, ran away from her home for undisclosed reasons. Got infected after hit by a catastrophe in the tundra and was subsequently transferred to Rhodes Island for treatment. After long consideration, now also serves as a Caster operator on occasion.

Despite our best efforts we were unable to convince the patient from staying at Rhodes Island for further treatment. Yrelia repeatedly stated she was not fit to live in a cage and she would rather leave than stay as a patient. We could choose to leave her behind - or agree to her wishes of serving as combat operator. This, of course, is a problematic decision.

Yrelia was a sheltered girl without any noteworthy combat abilities. Indeed, she does possess powerful Arts, but her condition is precarious - not only is she frail, she seems mentally unstable and is susceptible for panic attacks, especially in stressful situations. Her oripathy creates hallucinations, further conflicting with her combat abilities. Aside from her arts, the only thing she seemed to have going for her is her determination.

We have discussed this matter long and hard. Finally we have decided to make her wish happen. Starting today, Yrelia will serve as a Caster operator.

To make her fit for combat she will be required to carry sedatives with her at any time during the operations. Refrain from relying on her for critical positions and keep her condition monitored during every moment. In fact, it is advisable to give her simple tasks and keep her out of danger altogether. Let her take care of easy targets to keep her morale up and pray she won't notice.

After further consideration, Operator Sparrow might not be such a misfit after all. She is still somewhat handicapped due to her condition but she proves to be very reliable. She swallows her own doubts and fears with fierce determination. Her adorable exterior hides somewhat of a beast - a cowardly beast, tail stuck between its legs, but brandishing its fangs in retaliation. It is as inspiring as it is scary.

Outside of operations Operator Sparrow proves to be very sociable. She is quick to befriend other operators and there are very few to lose a bad word about her. Especially younger operators seem to be very fond of her. She helps out wherever she can, but needs to be frequently reminded to rest and take care of herself.

Operator Sparrow is frequently praised for her efforts, yet she barely seems to acknowledge compliments. A few operators commented on her looks and she flat out denied to be anything but passable in her looks. Many seem to disagree despite her scars.

The Maureny family is well known within Victoria for their vineyards. Yrelia was seen as an ideal for her beauty and youth with many suitors. Apparently the family faced in recent times somewhat of a financial struggle, though these seem to be baseless rumors. Other noble families seemed to be widely friendly towards the Maureny family and many of Yrelias suitors seemed to be from close families.

When asked about her family, Operator Sparrow refused to elaborate on the matter and just mentioned, she left her home with no regrets. It wasn't pressed further on the matter out of respect for her private circumstances.

Furthermore Operator Sparrow asked to keep her treatment at Rhodes Island a secret from outside factions. Therefore no information about Operator Sparrow are to be given to anyone outside of Rhodes Island.

It seems that Operator Sparrow, before leaving her family, had no experience in Originum Arts. According to her own accounts, Operator Sparrow gained all her abilities during her journey - an impressive feat considering her circumstances. Her Arts manifest as crystals of various density and hardness. During her time at Rhodes Island, her abilities improved further.

Operator Sparrow's hallucinations have also shown some oddities. Operator Sparrow has reported multiple times that her hallucinations often featured people, places and events which she later witnessed in reality, though often with slight alterations. Other hallucinations seemed to be entirely random. We request to investigate this phenomenon further.

Aspirin worked extremely hard to get into Rhodes Island, for a young man of his age, he has proved to be remarkably intelligent and seems to care a lot about others. It was no surprise then that he would go on to become one of Kal'tsit’s students.

Aside from studying Medicine, he has taken an interest in Pshycology and Therapy, taking it into his own hands to try and help others. Even if he goes in over his head, it’s clear that Aspirin cares.

We have not seen him use his Arts. Most of the Medical work he does is through use of equipment or drugs. At first it was thought that he had no potential for Arts, but he has confirmed that this theory is not true. He does indeed have Arts, and it does seem to be quite powerful. The ability to manpulate another person’s cell structure and allowing them to regenerate organs and limbs, is has been quite useful in the Operating room. However strangely enough he can not use this on himself. Tests are still ongoing to explain why that is.

little is known about umbra aside from her real name & where she was born, but she only recently aligned herself with rhodes island after the reunion led uprising in chernobog. there are no records of what she had been up to before joining rhodes island & though she will not talk about it, she constantly reassures human resources that all she wants to do is help the infected like herself. after her first deployment, she now receives medical treatment for her oripathy.

symptoms

blake has multiple symptoms due to her infection. one manifested as chronic pain throughout her entire body, though the worst is along her spine & lower back. treatments help with the pain, as do certain painkillers that still work with someone who’s infected but for the most part, she tries to go without them.

her second, most noticeable symptom is a shadow form. her body is covered in shadows with her only discernible features being her eyes & the ends of her fingers becoming like claws. when she’s deployed & this form takes hold, she can quickly leap behind enemies & flank them for a time before returning to her original location. she’s even faster in this form than she is normally.
