like literally the entire reason why the movie is on a whooooole other level from the original stage production is BECAUSE of the crazy meta commentary it accomplishes with casting beyonce like truly none of THE MOVIE'S writing could've worked out as well as it did if it didn't have her period because they wrote it AROUND HER
#not to mention ok i did watch a production fancam and also read the og theater script and saw recordings of the first musical cast#and it's quite literally a completely different story#deena AND effie are completely different characters and so is lorrell! and JIMMY was soooo#like in the original he was just jimmy. in the movie. woo boy#i think watching the theater productions help me realize that curtis was absolutely supposed to be gay tho#i think jamie foxx did REMARKABLY portraying it in a more subtle If You Know You Know way that's impossible to unsee when You realize#and this was before me looking up the plot of the movie that the actor deena subplot was in reference to. so.

one of the best things about a seeing a play or a musical in person is the little quirks and unique ways the actors play their characters and how even their appearance or voice can fully influence your perception of a character. unfortunately this is also one of the worst parts of seeing a play or a musical live

Dad went to put on the Les Mis soundtrack after thanksgiving dinner by using voice commands. Immediately, my siblings and I all jumped up to correct him before it could play the Incorrect One. But it’s okay. No need for panic. We managed to get the 1985 Original London Cast playing before there could be any bloodshed.

Hey guys. Long time no post 🥀 I started a class on quantitative reasoning back at the end of June and it has had my soul strung on a wire since. When I tell you I've been exhAUSTED TO THE POINT OF DESPAIR — I have. But I feel kinda better now. I still have one week to go, so wish me luck, but hopefully after that I'll be active again.

I saw Newsies live again after too too long and man every single time it’s like I’m thirteen again, just pure excitement and joy being poured into my system

well i just saw the uk tour. and i liked it a lot. yay!!!
#i wore my ghost london hoodie#and yes the special effects were crap but you know what wasn’t crap?#the cast!!!!#i will take cheap sets and dodgy effects for a cast that can act and sing#josh was so good as sam#some of his speaking parts sounded so much like richard on the cast recording it was eerie#urgh but when it was (partly) the original overture? chef’s kiss#and l*s dennis was off praise be hallelujah!!#i still miss the original version of ghost#but i’m glad i had a version i could enjoy for the first time in 12 years 😭🥺
