I can't get Boricua Wayne out of my head so here is Bruce Wayne if he was Porta Rickun!
I imagine he would be a 2nd or 3rd generation Puerto Rican on his dad's side. As much as Marta is such a common name on the island Tomas was actually my bisabuelos name lmfao
Tomas, however, did have a Puerto Rican mother. And I think it's just sexier for her to be from the north west coast iykyk.
Would I looooove to pick my dad's hometown? Yes. Isabela is Top Tier. But I think Tomas would have a mom from like ... okay I have three options: Mayaguez, Rincon or Arecibo.
And if we go with the name Laura from New Earth that's an easy one to switch between English and Spanish because its spelled exactly the same.
So Laura either meets Patrick Wayne on the island OR she's part of one of the many mass exoduses from the island and they meet in New Jersey with so many of our diaspora on the East Coast (couldn't be me. I wound up in the South 😭).
I also would find this to be interesting if Laura was Catholic and Tomas grew up with Catholic leanings because of his mom but he doesn't force this on Bruce who grows up in a mostly secular home. His father encourages him to explore the sciences since he is a doctor.
Anyway, Tomas and Bruce do speak Spanish and they do travel back and forth to PR because they have the fucking funds and time to go at least twice a year so Bruce definitely is capable of a west coast boricua accent and he keeps it up over the years because he refuses to be a No Sabo.
And they definitely have a beach house because why not? 😑 But Bruce prefers the mountains as an adult, especially with his parents gone, so he gets another house in like... Lares or Utuado or both because he can do that.
And once he has all the kids around he starts taking them on trips for holidays and fiestas patronales.
Alfred will only let Bruce have the kitchen if he knows Bruce is gonna make Puerto Rican food because he misses his grandma on the most random days (lets say she passed a couple years before his parents) and just gets so nostalgic for a happier tine he has to make something hearty and maybe even a little greasy (bacalaitos, sorullitos, tostones, carne frita, mofongo etc). But sometimes... all he wants is arroz con habichuelas (con calabaza en lugar de papas) and a crispy fried chuleta. At New Years Alfred goes out of his way to make sure there's tembleque being served because its one of the few times a year Bruce will allow himself to have sweets.
BRUCE IS A DANCER. He definitely used to tear it up at the clubs in his younger years. I bet that man's salsa footwork is smooth and appears effortless.
He can't play barriles for shit but he probably slays if you put a guiro in his hands and I guarantee you he can play the cuatro like a pro.
He can't show too much of his identity publicly so he can't put his little flag boxing gloves to dangle on the rearview mirror of the batmobile or stick a freaking "Orgullo" sticker on the bumper but he does embed a flag emblem into the steering wheel for himself. Its the spirit of it that counts and he likes when his kids comment on it.
Wepa and what not.
I do also think it would be hilarious if hes only quiet when hes sneaking up on people in a fight but when hes in the batmobile you hear his ass coming. Just in the distance you hear the obnoxiously loud engine of his ridiculous car (another puerto ricanism) but also you hear this song blasting before getting your shit rocked by El Batman:
https://youtu.be/M_52MXKrAtQ?si=hYaJ2W_INhvGbtpS
Y le ponemos un apodo... deja ver ...
His nickname would be Santa Clo, Noelito, or San Nicki. Because every time he visited any extended family or a community in need in PR he tried to sneak gifts and money but EVERYONE knows it's him because everyone knows everyone and tells each other what he did when he was there and where they got the money or gifts from. So when he comes to town and a group of people in the plaza see him pull up they're like "Mira, llegó Santa Clo" or "quién me dio los chavos? El San Nicki" and "Noelito le regaló un carro a mi mai pa' que no estuviera a pie". And I just think thats neat.
Bruce stayed away from PR for the first couple years after his parents died because he got sick of being "ay benditoooo"ed to death with pity. But he went back when he realized he didn't want to lose another link to his Dad.
I could go on but I'm sleep deprived. Y'all can add to Boricua Wayne if you want 🇵🇷💖
