End OTW Racism: A Call To Action
A fan protest against the lack of action from the OTW on addressing issues of harassment and racism on AO3 and within the organization
This is a Call To Action for Fans of Color and Allies
AO3 has acknowledged that they have a harassment & racism problem that its parent organization, the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW), needs to address. Currently, people can use AO3 to harass others through fanworks, comments, and tags. Just a few examples include: racist Untamed “spitefic” that used anti-Indigenous slurs and was written specifically to lash out at fans of color; a Transformer fic that used its Black-coded character to reenact George Floyd’s murder in July 2020; someone naming a fandom scholar who criticized their Nazi omegaverse fic in the tags of the fic specifically to incite harassment to the scholar; writers using racial slurs against commenters who pointed out racism in their hockey fic; and so much more.
In June 2020, after the murder of George Floyd, the OTW committed to addressing these issues. It has been nearly three years and they have not yet implemented any of the changes they promised, other than a blocking/muting tool that was already in development before 2020. We need to hold the OTW accountable to their own promises. (See the section further down on “Why Are We Doing This” for even more detail.)
As fans, together, we are powerful. We are organizing to protest the lack of action on promises made by the Organization for Transformative works to deal with issues of racism and harassment on their platform, Archive of Our Own.
We call on fans to do any or all of the following actions any time between May 17 to 31, 2023 to send a message to AO3 and OTW that we will hold them to their promises.
On AO3
Change the title of ten (or more!) of your most recent or most popular fanworks to include ‘End Racism in the OTW’ in the beginning, and provide a link to this post in your summary or first/top creator’s note
Post a new fanwork any time between May 17th to 31st with “End Racism in the OTW” either as the title or at the beginning of the title. The fanwork does not have to be long - it can be a 100-word fic, a quick sketch, a podfic of a ficlet, a 20-second vid/edit, a short piece of meta, etc. In the summary or first/top creator’s note, provide a link to this post
If updating any WIPs with a new chapter, add ‘End Racism in the OTW’ to the title and provide a link back to this post in your summary or first/top author’s note
Update your AO3 icon using the profile pic graphic in our Social Media Toolkit
Plan to maintain these changes until May 31, 2023, or longer if you wish
Send a message to the OTW asking for an update on their 2020 commitments!
For Readers: leave encouraging comments on fanworks with the "End Racism in the OTW" title to show your support of this initiative.
On tumblr
Reblog this Call to Action with the tag #End OTW Racism
Update your profile pics and banners using the graphics in our Social Media Toolkit
Follow this account for updates and signal boost our posts
On Twitter
Follow @/EndOTWRacism (remove the backslash) and signal boost our pinned tweet
Update your profile pics and banners using our graphics, and change your display name to include #EndOTWRacism
Use sample tweets and graphics from our Social Media Toolkit to tweet about your fanworks, and use the hashtag #EndOTWRacism
Help us make this a long-term campaign - sign up to help with other anti-racism projects and future actions!
What Do We Want?
Since their June 2020 statement, OTW has been working on updating their Terms of Service (TOS) to address racist and bigoted harassment, but with little transparency and only the vaguest of updates. It has been three years since their commitment to this update - we want to see the results of their work implemented in the next 6-12 months. Their TOS updates and complementary policies should include:
Harassment policies that can be regularly updated to address both on-site harassment and off-site coordinated harassment of AO3 users, with updated protocols for the Policy & Abuse Team to ensure consistent and informed resolutions of abuse claims
A content policy on abusive (extremely racist and extremely bigoted) content; by abusive, we are talking about fanworks that are intentionally used to spread hate and harassment, not those that accidentally invoke racist or other bigoted stereotypes
These points are not particularly new and are not our own innovation; please refer to Stitch's article written over two years ago, asking for several of these very things.
OTW has also already committed to various process-based actions for longer-term works towards centering antiracism, including hiring a Diversity Consultant. The last update that OTW published said that the consultant would be hired within the next five years (after already having had three years to work on it since their original commitment). That is not soon enough. We want to see the following process-based actions implemented:
Hiring a Diversity Consultant within the next 3-6 months
Committing to a policy of transparency on this topic, with quarterly updates on the progress of these projects including challenges and their plan for overcoming those challenges. These quarterly updates should be published on OTW News page and newsletters, not solely discussed in Board meetings
Why Are We Doing This?
16 years ago, Astolat famously published her manifesto calling for a fandom Archive of One’s Own. In that time, AO3 has grown to be a central pillar of fandom, likely far outstripping its founders’ original vision. It is more than just an archive now; it is a central hub of the modern fannish experience. AO3 and the OTW must continue to grow and evolve with fandom over time to remain a healthy and functioning pillar of fandom. To that end, there are several areas in which the organization, as it admits itself, is lacking.
In June 2020, in the wake of the George Floyd protests and the uprising of the Black Lives Matter Movement, The OTW published a “This Week in Fandom” referencing the works of Dr. Rukmini Pande and Stitch, among others in which they discussed ‘making change for a better society’ through ‘conversations about race and racism’. In response, Dr. Pande and Stitch submitted a letter to the OTW calling for a more formal public statement than an offhand reference in a News Roundup that only served to call for thoughts and discussion without any indication the organization intended to do anything, policy wise, to address the issues being raised.
Eventually, the organization did remove the references to the works of Dr. Pande and Stitch and then made an official statement on the issue of racism within the organization and AO3. In it, they identified several things they would be prioritizing to combat harassment and benefit users. Some of those have been implemented (notably those that were already under development). However as of this writing, little else has been done especially in regards to:
Improving admin tools for the Policy & Abuse team
Reassessing the current mandatory archive warnings with the possibility of implementing others
And, most importantly, reviewing the Terms of Service (TOS) to allow the Policy & Abuse team to address harassment that is currently not covered by the existing TOS
By their own admission, the current tools and policies of the OTW are not sufficient to deal with issues of harassment and racism.
Several people who were involved in the founding of the OTW, including previous OTW Board members and staff on the original OTW Content Policy Committee, acknowledge that the founding of the OTW in 2008 and early board iterations failed us as a fandom by not doing enough, and by not even considering the way racism is perpetuated in fannish spaces, despite a long history of racism in fandom.
It has been nearly three years since the original commitment by the organization with little visible, measurable progress on these three crucial issues and a complete lack of transparency on where they are in regards to even beginning to deal with these issues. In fact, in Q&As, it was heavily implied by a member of the board that those calling for OTW to deal with issues of racism (which OTW had already acknowledged as a problem!) were not really fans but outside agitators.
This has cast significant doubt on the organization's sincerity and commitment to their stated goals, and on their position as leaders of a central fan tent-pole. Fans of color are not outsiders. They are right here, members of our community, and they are being harassed and targeted and driven out while space and platforms are being given to racists.
We, as fans of color and our allies, find the current state of fandom and current actions (and lack thereof) unacceptable. Fandom is our space, all of ours. We, as a fandom, have a right to a racism-free space and have a duty to our fellow fans to create that space. Unlike so much of the world, this is a space we can control and make better. It is a space we must make better. To read even more about this movement, visit our FAQs.

hi I really like your mb and I'm new here. Do u have any suggestions or tips to make mb? like where did u get the pics and the captions.
𝓜oodboards: a guide for beginner blogs!
I decided to bring here a small tutorial that can help other blogs that are starting out and still have questions that need clarification, with tips and links that you may need. I wrote this from my point of view of creating moodboards and I tried to be as brief as possible in my explanation, there may be errors in English as I'm not fluent in that language and everything here was translated using Google Translate, any questions you can contact me via asks or by message.
how do I find pics for moodboards?
Pinterest is where you will find most images for moodboards, so create a Pinterest board just for these images, separating them into subboards for each color or aesthetic to make it easier.
Some blogs leave the link to their Pinterest accounts in pinneds or in the carrd, you can follow them and save the pics they published on the app in your boards, this will influence the Pinterest algorithm so that they recommend more of the type of images you want.
You can also search on Pinterest for the aesthetic and color you want (coquette pink aesthetic, cottagecore aesthetic, y2k, etc.).
how to make moodboards + tips:
Well, it's not such a complicated thing for me. I generally make moodboards with 6 or 9 images, taking inspiration from the moodboards of other blogs that I admire, so I can get an idea of how to make the captions and how to position the photos in a way that matches them.
To make it easier, first I create the moodboard and then I look for an icon of a kpop idol that can match the aesthetics and color of the moodboard. The reverse can also be done: first choose an icon and make a moodboard for that image, paying attention to the color palette and tonality (and for some reason, for me it's better to create moodboards in Tumblr's light mode instead of dark mode)
When I finish the moodboard, I add the caption, the hashtags (which will be very important for your post to reach other people) and maybe a divider. You can find these dividers on other blogs or by searching for "dividers" on Tumblr.
If you want to split a photo into two or more images, use this site.
how to create captions:
To make the captions, I use parts of songs that I like or that I found searching on Pinterest for "Spotify song lyrics", but they can also be album or song names, movie names, a phrase you thought, etc. The symbols you will put in the caption can be found on this website or just by searching for "symbols", "kpop symbols", "kaomojis" on tumblr.
If you want to use a different font for the letters, there are these two websites (01 and 02). And to change the color, there are also these two tutorials (01 and 02).
what to do to make your blog "popular":
Add popular hashtags that relate to the content you are posting. If you use almost the same tags as other big blogs, your posts will have more reach. Posting frequently and your account looking nice and organized helps too.
Ask several other popular blogs to promote your account. This was very important for my profile to grow in the number of followers and engagement.
Join the events that some blogs do, as they offer good prizes like reblogs if you win. And remember to have patience, as it often takes a while to get good engagement on Tumblr.

WE'VE UNIONIZED!!!!
I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW PROUD I AM OF US!!! I served on the union organizing committee at Powerhouse for the past 8 months and got to experience all this energy and see how much people wanted this. I've been on Castlevania for almost 4 years and I love it here as much as the first day and I'm so excited for what we can accomplish together now and I cannot tell you. What a fucking monumental thing it is to have done this in a right-to-work state like Texas. Our coworkers are absolutely amazing and full of resolve to help us make our studio even better for us. It's been overwhelming.
We're asking you to help us spread the word and support our cause as we seek voluntary recongition of our union with The Animation Guild.
Join us in making the animation industry better for everyone!!!!! Tweet it use that hashtag follow the TAG twitter @theanimationguild like and subscribe etc
#Power2Powerhouse#Powerhouse Animation#TAG#the animation guild#union#you guys I've cried so often in the past 24 hours we are doing it

Welcome to fans4wga, a central hub run by fans who work in the entertainment industry and want to promote inter-fandom solidarity with the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.
We're here to support the writers and actors on strike with both financial and moral support, combat misinformation, and disseminate helpful information for how you and your fandom can get involved!
why support the WGA/SAG-AFTRA? -> The people who make the entertainment you love are being systematically underpaid, understaffed, and undervalued by gigantic corporations with CEOs who make millions every year. Writers and actors are striking for fair pay, better work conditions, and an end to exploitative labor practices like mini-rooms and scanning people to use digital likenesses to replace real actors. Writers and actors deserve a fair contract, but the studios have refused fair negotiation at every turn.
how can fans get involved? -> Please boost info about mutual aid and strike funds, correct misinfo when you see it (and cite sources when possible), and keep strike morale strong in your fandom spaces!
want to support the strike? -> donate to the Entertainment Community Fund and the Green Envelope Grocery Aid Fund, or join a fandom group that's organizing on Twitter: Our Flag Means Death, Star Trek, and Manifest fandoms are already active in organizing food and drink donations to the picket lines. Join a picket line if you can. Support the strike on social media with the hashtags #IStandWithTheWGA #DoTheWriteThing #Fans4WGA
who are you exactly? -> this hub is run by Ani (@abnerkrill) and Algie (@equalseleventhirds) on behalf of the #fans4wga movement, supported by WGA members Jo Miller and Rob Kutner.
should I stop watching TV shows/movies to support the strike? -> there is currently no official call for a boycott! Some people are canceling their services in support of the WGA. However, this is not an official ask and could in fact damage viewing numbers that give the unions leverage. In other words: No need to change your watching activity, but please vocally support the WGA/SAG-AFTRA on social media and in real life!
is fanfic scabbing? -> Definitively no! Please keep writing fic. The confusion about this question comes from SAG-AFTRA's guidelines against influencer promo. Influencers (by SAG-AFTRA's official definition) are being asked not to promote present or past studio works. However, fans and hobbyists without significant social media followings who don't want to join SAG-AFTRA in the future can keep posting normally.
have any others questions? ask box is open!
[please note anon is currently off to limit spam and hate mail. apparently some people side with corporate CEOs over workers. couldn't be us!]

Hello I'm Lenka Stojanovic, welcome to my blog
i'm a balkan ex-muslim lesbian woman in my 20s and a big scary radfem. if that threatens you, block me. my blog is crypto safe (if you're crypto, follow only if you want—your safety is my priority).
this is mainly a radfem blog, but i also post funnies and things i find pretty/cool. if you're wondering why i followed you and you're not a radfem blog, that's why.
i LOVE being spammed with reblogs and likes, so please don't feel afraid to do so!!
i identified as "trans/nonbinary" for years before reclaiming my womanhood, and i'm so happy i did (it's never too late). there's no "right" or "wrong" way to be a woman. i was a huge trans activist for years before realizing it doesn't and will never benefit me despite their lies. i don't argue with tras—go kick rocks and debate with the mirror, loser.
i post free pdfs, resources, graphics, and everything else of the sort on this blog. feel free to explore and read—it's not illegal despite what you've been made to think (#useful).
any designs i create and post on this blog are entirely free for personal and commercial use. i don't want or require credit—do whatever your heart desires with them (create pins, t-shirts, print them out, sell them, anything!! idc!) (#my designs).
though i do have some hashtags i regularly use to keep things somewhat organized, in general, i don't use tags a lot, if ever.
my blog is open to any and all women, even the trans-identified ones. you are all welcome here and i love you (in other terms, my blog is open to all "afabs," even "transmen" and those who are "nonbinary"). if you're on the fence or reconsidering things, you're safe here, i promise.
also, i don't live in america, so my perspective might be different from what you're used to.
it sometimes takes me a while to reply (i.e. days, weeks...) to my messages because my life can get busy at times, but rest assured i will get back to you, and love chatting!! (i sometimes also just come on here to feverishly reblog but don't have the energy to converse, i hope you understand). i don't always reply to every reply on my posts because sometimes there's nothing else left to say! you've summed it up perfectly! but i LOVE reading all replies!!!
my messages are only on for mutuals, and asks are completely off. sometimes i'll turn on asks for an hour or two before turning them back off. on that note, any of my beloved regular anonitas i had, i implore thee to make side accounts so we can chat because i really miss you all, though my asks aren't coming back full time any time soon.
there are more trans activists/trans people turned radfems than there are radfems turned trans activists/trans people—think about why that is.
you're not the only one who thinks these thoughts, i promise you there are SO many women who think the same as you. you just haven't found them yet, or they're in hiding.
i love you! mua!! xx
i also have a sideblog in case things go awry (i get banned for being too wild) and that side blog is: sexisforeverdisgusting

Hello good afternoon! On Sam's part, we already have some speculation there in Mordor (will we have a Barbie Fitness revival?). But what about IFTA? Will we have a two-pronged attack this weekend?
Dear IFTA Anon,
The IFTA event is in Dublin, on April 20th. Next week, not this week-end.
For the moment, we have Landcon in Paris on Saturday and yup, he registered for the Cologne Hyrox on Sunday:
And so is Mrs. Xena, what a surprise:
Of course she geotagged herself, aaah-ing and oooh-ing near the Dome. Ha. Ha.
After all, she told Herr Lederhosen, her Bavarian fan Numero Uno, she was going to race PRO at Hyrox Cologne, hashtag lonewolf, hashtag Club Flamingo (but afterwards, LOL) - more about this, here: https://www.tumblr.com/sgiandubh/744955031835541504/out-of-the-ol-bubble?source=share
If you care to see the event's agenda, you'll notice Hyrox PRO women is very short (I have no clue why, ask me about Pre-Raphaelites, instead) and almost simultaneous with the beginning of the Men's race, where S competes. Cue in salacious comments from *urv, I think we should expect at least that.
On the flip side, a revival would be very farfetched, taking into account that Daily Fail article which portrayed him as a Raya lookin' for a hookin', elite available man (LOL for years). PR might be a bitch, but never does something like that without a reason.
Fingahs crossed for that Flamingo Club. Oh, and pour la bonne bouche, she even told us where she is staying in Cologne:
A 'full appartment with kitchen' and thank you Primal (paid partnership, of course) for today and the ESN hotel, starting tomorrow. Here is an interesting clue, just in case anyone pre-empts the fanfic and imagines a kama-sutra side event in one of the numerous hôtels de charme of Cologne.
There is no ESN hotel (yes, I looked, Deutschland and her beauty are not my forte) in town. The ESN she is talking about is Elite Sports Nutrition, a German fitness supplements company (https://int.esn.com/) prominently featured at FIBO 2024 (same dates, roughly, same place):
They pay for the room and she doesn't even know or care where the hotel is.
So long for the fish, Anon. That settles it for me. Also, for having participated several times at different high-level events organized by the German authorities (think EU ministerial summit level), I can tell you these people do not joke about accommodation, transfers and registration formalities: this is very strict and very, very effective. Best organization in the world and I know something about it.
*fondly and suddenly remembers her miraculous long week-end at the Adlon Hotel, in Berlin, circa 2007 *
[Later edit]: Told you. *urv already wrote Chapter 13 of Fitness at Dawn. It's based in Cologne:
*bangs head against wall*

Welcome to Blinky's Rewatch Party!
Hello Nighthawks, Sniggles, and Latte Hattes! You've found the official tumblr page for Blinky's Rewatch Party--where we organize semi-regular watch parties of Nightmare Time 2 episodes as part of our campaign to both share our love of NMT and hopefully get our grubby little hands on Nightmare Time 3!
Current Rewatch Party Planning Polls: None Currently Active!
FAQ with all the basic info under the cut!
WHEN ARE THE REWATCH PARTIES?
The Rewatch Parties are every other Saturday, at two different times, so that as many people as possible can participate directly! The schedule for the current round of Rewatch Parties is:
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
Here on Tumblr, we will be using the tag "Blinky's Rewatch Party." You can use the tag to liveblog your rewatch, or wait until the story is over to post any and all thoughts at once. If you can't make either of the chosen times, that's okay! The tag's not going anywhere; simply watch and post your thoughts whenever you can. And remember to check out the tag to see what other people are saying!
If the Tumblr tagging system isn't your ideal communal watching experience, that's cool too. We're set up on several other social media platforms that you are welcome to check out!
Also you can follow this blog! It's not super necessary, but it will make keeping up with any updates easier. Also, likes and ESPECIALLY reblogs of any and all posts are greatly appreciated--I don't really care about notes for notes' sake, but since the whole point is to keep people watching Nightmare Time, I'd love for the parties to reach as many people as possible!
WHAT OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS? HOW DO I FIND YOU THERE?
We'll be hosting the watch parties here on Tumblr, but also on Discord, YouTube, and Twitter.
Our discord is currently invite only! DM this account if you're interested in joining and we'll see what we can do. The server is super chill and fun and there's a surprising amount of discussion and theorizing about Chumby.
We don't have a specific YouTube page (yet!)--we'll simply be hosting the watch parties in the comments sections of the Nightmare Time episodes themselves. This will have the added bonus of really showing increased interest in NMT, and getting us one step closer to our ultimate goal: MORE HATCHETFIELD!
The link to our twitter is here: https://twitter.com/BlinkysParty. We will be using the hashtag #BlinkysRewatchParty.
For more information on participating in the Rewatch Parties on various social medias, go here.
WHO RUNS THE WATCH PARTIES?
That would be me! Hello! My name is Brooke (she/her), and you may know me on here as @man-down-in-hatchet-town. I want these watch parties to be as positive an experience as possible, so please feel free to reach out to me on this page OR man-down with any thoughts, questions, or concerns. Unlike Hidgens, I promise I won't show you my résumé!
Our discord is also largely managed by the amazing @abarryswiftexit! They are super cool and friendly and the real hero of this whole endeavor.
YOUR ART IS SO COOL! WHO MADE IT?
I'm so glad you asked! Our awesome text graphics and unbelievable avatar are all by my wonderful fandom best buddy @its-short-for-jackalope. Seriously, guys, their art is so good and interesting, so be sure to check it all out and give his page a follow!
Thanks, Jack! 💜
AND THE BIG ONE: WHAT HAPPENED IN 2005 TO MAKE THE HATCHETFIELD TIMELINE SPLIT?
I actually don't know this one (though I have lots of thoughts and ideas, help)! But I do know that rewatching Nightmare Time will help us get the chance to find out. So let's get our Bliklotep on and do this thing!

Hi darling, I will ask you some recommends because I have a lot of projects to write in my head. By any chance could you give me some advice on how to start structuring the work and how to start? And above all, what should I use to write? I'm so sorry for bothering you, i wish u have a good day🫶🏻
Hello Hun! Sorry for answering so late, I was sleeping, hehe. Okay, lets go, i get so excited when people ask this kind of stuff!! Also, you're not bothering me at all!!
Okay, as a person with many ideas at the same time, I started using Notion to organize my fanfics. Ive been using Notion in my private life for 2 years (maybe more) to track my finances, my feelings, art/design and writing (not fanfiction-related). So i decided to try and use it for my fanfiction too! I used to keep my fanfics on Google Drive, but now I use Notion because it's way more organized.
The template I use to run this account is very simple! I have a table where I list everything I have written or ideas that I have and I label them like "idea/draft/posted", then I write what member it's about and the type of post! (I will add a screenshot I posted before to help you visualize.)
Beside the table, i have a link to my Google Drive where I save the pictures I use on this account. I also have some toggle lists where I keep my hashtags so I can just copy and paste when needed. Under those toggles, I also have my taglist and layout for every post! I keep everything on that page so it's easier to access!
About writing... I am a messy writer, when i have an idea I write everything down as fast as I can to not forget the idea (because my memory sucks) and that causes me to make A LOT of spelling mistakes. So I use Grammarly to help me fix all my grammar mistakes.
The good thing about Grammarly is that if you click on a word twice, it gives you synonyms for that word, and it's great to help keep the story less repetitive. Sometimes it helps with re-phrasing too!
Since English isn't my first language, it's important to me that my writing makes sense and is good! So, if you are serious about your writing too, I recommend using some sort of software to check for spelling mistakes and help you write! I use Grammarly but you can use anything you want.
If you want, i can help you settle on Notion. I can try to find the original template I downloaded and help you customize it! Sorry if this is too long. Like I said, I get excited when people ask about this stuff!
If you have any more questions you can ask me here or in my DM's, I'm always happy to help! (Especially because I know what is like to be lost in here. I've been on this app for a while now...)

How do tags work? I'm newish to Tumblr and I don't really get the tags. Do I need to tag everything?
hello and welcome! tags serve four major purposes:
to let other people find your content: this is only applicable if you are the creator of the post, not if you reblog it. for example: if you make a post about dean you might want to add the tags "dean winchester" and "supernatural" or even "spn" so that other people who are interested in content about dean can see the post when they're searching for content on tumblr (if you want to find content and you're using desktop, you can search tumblr.com/tagged/supernatural [or whatever it is you're looking for] and you'll be able to see original posts that people tagged as "supernatural." if you're on mobile, frog speed, my friend.) also, friendly reminder not to over-tag things. if you tag a post that is just about dean with "sam winchester" "castiel" "john winchester" etc people are more likely to block you. spam tagging is really annoying.
organization on your own blog: adding tags to your posts lets you find them on your own blog later (again, this is really only useful on desktop, not mobile) and this goes for original posts and reblogged posts. for example: you may have noticed that i tag all of my posts about dean with "dw." that's the organizational tag i use for my own blog. i also have tags that probably don't mean anything to anyone else but that help me to organize certain ~genres of posts on my blog (like "hashtag family"). if you want to search your own blog or someone else's for all of the posts you/they have in a specific tag you can do that on desktop by going to blog.tumblr.com/tagged/tag. so for example if you wanted to search my blog for the dean content you would go to queermania.tumblr.com/tagged/dw
giving other people the ability to block/filter content: this is relevant for both original posts and reblogged posts. for example: someone might have followed you for doctor who content but they are not interested in seeing supernatural content. you tagging your supernatural posts with a "supernatural" tag lets them filter or blacklist it so they don't have to see it. this is also relevant for certain types of content like nsfw, body horror, etc. you may see tags like "tw body horror" or "body horror tw" or "body horror cw" or even "body horror for ts" (that one's an old relic from a time long ago when we had to use an extension called tumblr savior to filter content). content/trigger warnings are subjective. not everybody uses them. not everybody is willing to use them. it's not uncommon to ask people (politely!) to tag for something that might be upsetting to you, with the caveat that they might say no and then it's up to you to decide if you want to continue following them or not. (for example if you asked me to tag for alcohol, i would politely decline, simply because i do not think i would realistically remember to do it and i don't want to promise something i can't deliver and risk harming you.)
commentary that doesn't need to be a part of the post: you may have noticed that a lot of us put our thoughts on any given post in the tags. this is a way to leave commentary without muddying up the post. not all thoughts need to be on the post permanently. in fact, most don't haha. sometimes if you leave commentary in the tags, someone will copy and paste or screenshot them into the body of the post because they think your thoughts deserved permanent status and that other people should see them too. we like to call this getting peer reviewed because we are nothing if not a website full of nerds.
so those are the ways we use tags on this website. you can choose not to use tags at all, use them religiously, or use them only when you want. it's really up to you. you create your own experience. however, if you do opt out of tagging anything at all, people might be less likely to interact with you because it makes it harder for them to curate their own experience. but again, it's really up to you!

BY ALLISON TOMBROS KORMAN
As the war ramped up, it was clear that this issue was not going away. Not only was I struggling to process Oct. 7 with friends, family, and my community, I was also navigating the conflict every day at work. As the only Jewish voice in the organization, I was repeatedly put in the position to speak for all Jewish people—an impossible task—or to defend my perspective and why it did not align with that of Jewish Voices for Peace, a group that purports to represent Jews but rejects the basic premise of a Jewish homeland, or similar entities. At the same time, if I advocated for DCAF staying out of this discussion, I was told I was silencing the organization and its staff. I shared my heartbreak about the violence against both Israelis and Palestinians and how, though complex, these feelings could coexist. In return, it was explained to me, often by people with no direct connection to the land or its people, that I needed to understand “context.”
At the same time, other abortion funds and reproductive health organizations began issuing statements about what was happening in Gaza. These statements contained much of the same offensive nomenclature as DCAF’s draft and some, like ARC-Southeast’s letter, went further, calling Zionism—the belief that Israel simply has a right to exist—“a contradiction to Reproductive Justice.” Every member of the DCAF staff except me signed on to a letter to the board advising them that they would be participating in a walkout in support of Palestine. The letter noted, “We are using our collective power as DCAF workers to show up for Gazans and call for an immediate ceasefire, as well as liberation for Palestinians ... we cannot ignore the mass violations to human rights and sexual and reproductive health outcomes that we’re seeing out of Gaza.” Remarkably, the letter neglected any mention of health outcomes for the Israeli survivors of rape or assault, or for the hostages.
In an effort to work collaboratively and keep focused on our primary objectives, we agreed that establishing social media procedures was a critical next step. On Nov. 14, I and the communications team sat down to decide what, if anything, DCAF would be posting about the war and to ensure there were not more situations like that which occurred around the “Gaza Carousel.” I recognized that my colleagues felt strongly that DCAF should weigh in on this discussion, and in an effort to compromise, I agreed to a process that would allow DCAF to uplift existing content from trusted partners in the field, but not create original content, as this would be beyond our expertise. We agreed to abstain from using nomenclature that could be distracting or divisive to our community, such as the “Free Palestine” hashtag or calling Israel’s actions “genocide.” We developed a system to review and discuss potentially controversial content related to the war before posting, starting with a small group of reviewers, including me, and escalating to a vote by a mix of board and staff.
The following morning, I circulated the notes from that meeting to DCAF leadership and members of the Board. At 3 p.m. that day, I was alerted by a Jewish DCAF volunteer that the DCAF Instagram feed featured graphics from The Washington Post about deaths in Gaza with commentary overlaid, specifically that “collective punishment is the tool of fascists” and that what was happening in Gaza was “a prime and top-of-mind example of said collective punishment.” I immediately flagged this for the communications team and asked if perhaps the content was posted inadvertently since it violated the norms we had established in the meeting the previous day. Surely, equating the actions of the entire State of Israel with fascism was a perspective that needed to be discussed as potentially controversial. They assured me the post was intentional (they later stealthily removed it).
Immediately, DCAF received angry messages from Jewish members of their community. The messages criticized DCAF for being so one-sided on the issue. They were furious that DCAF, who claimed to deeply value reproductive justice, had remained silent on the rapes of Israeli women. They stated that as Jews, they felt abandoned by and isolated from the organization.

do you have any tips on starting a simblr?
Here are some tips!
Come up with a username. I have seen a lot of simmers have a certain word and then ‘trait’ which is cute! But I feel like as long as people can tell it has to do with sims, you’re good to go. I’d say just make sure it’s easy to remember and spell!
Find a theme that you like. If I’m looking for a new theme, I usually just search 'minimalistic theme’ on tumblr. There are lots of tutorials on how to install it, so you shouldn’t have any issues!
Pick out a cute profile picture! I always choose a screenshot of a sim that I really love. It makes it apparent to other simmers who come across your blog, that it is a simblr and they may be more inclined to check it out!
Make sure your blog is easy to navigate by thinking of certain hashtags for different posts. (examples of mine are 'my lookbooks’, ’(household name)*’, 'answered’ (for asks). This just makes your blog so much more organized for both yourself and other simmers as well!
Think about what kind of posts you want to make. You can definitely post a variety of content such as gameplay posts, lookbooks, cc finds, build screenshots, etc.
When posting any of your content, always use hashtags! Especially if you are new, other simmers finding your posts relies very heavily on hashtags used by you. The ones that I see used most frequently are 'ts4’, 'ts4 screenshots’ and 'ts4 gameplay’. If you post lookbooks or cc finds I’d recommend 'ts4 lookbook’, 'ts4cc finds’.
That is all I have for now but if you are also interested in how I grew my simblr, I answered an ask about that here. I hope this was helpful!

the gwayupdates guide to safely buying resale tickets 🙏🏼, from @.gwayupdates on twitter
copy-pasting this thread here for ppl who don't have twitter:
regular resale marketplaces 🌟
if you don’t want to deal with a potential scam and have the money to spare, ticketmaster’s own resale market is your safest option, followed by third party resale websites like stubhub & seatgeek. the third party ones aren’t foolproof, but you can dispute sales that go wrong to get your money back. tm & third party have the highest prices because they take fees from sellers + are the easiest places for scalpers to sell. if you value saving money over ease of purchase, i’ll walk you thru how i buy my tickets.
cheapest places to buy resale 🌟
my go-to places are twitter, facebook, and reddit. i’ll go over them one by one. on twitter, i use keywords to search for sellers, usually a mix of artist name, city name, and the date. there is no set verbiage so it’s important to cover all of your bases. here are some screenshots of what my search history may look like if i wanted tix for the arlington show. note the variation i use. twt saves your history, up to 5 at a time, so usually i’ll search across diff accs multiple times a day to get to new posts first.
there’s so many other keywords you can use, as well. sometimes fandoms will make a hashtag for dates or tours, and those are great places to look. for facebook, join as many tour groups as you can. look up my chemical romance, and join tour specific ones or any buy/sell ones. on reddit, it depends on the subreddit rules. sometimes there will be specific posts designated for people to list their tickets and you can keep an eye on those. for all of these, it’s important to keep checking because for high-demand tours, well priced resales go fast too.
what to look out for before you contact the seller 🌟
look at their post history. have they tweeted about the artist before? recently, i’ve seen scammers who will change their layouts to look like a fan account, but their profile is completely unrelated, clearly bot posts, or cycles thru fandoms based on whatever tickets they are selling at the time. is their whole profile just selling tickets? do their posts sound organic and human? do they interact with people? note that actual people also do make accounts solely for selling.
another thing to look out for is wording—at some point you’ll start seeing the exact same selling tweets copy/pasted by multiple different accounts. don’t bother with those. when you spend enough time searching, you’ll notice patterns in how bots/scammers tweet.
verifying tickets with the seller 🌟
ok, so you’ve determined the account looks normal, or maybe there’s just not enough info, so you contact the seller. what now? before any kind of payment, ask for proof of them having the ticket. i’ve grown wary and now i’ll only accept screen recordings as proof, since screenshots can be doctored, stolen, and reused. i’m also very specific with what i want out of the screen recording: the seller should start in our open dms, exit the social media app, open up ticketmaster, show me their name on the account, and navigate to the ticket they’re trying to sell me. 99% of the time they’ll say yes, because they’re an actual human being who actually wants to sell their ticket for a good price. occasionally i’ve had people say things like “you don’t trust me?” or try to guilt trip me, and i just block and move on. scammers will do anything to convince you they’re trustworthy but actually show you real, undeniable proof. when i ask, i usually start with “sorry i’m paranoid of being scammed, could you please send me xyz” and normal people will understand & do it.
payment 🌟
unless you know this person, either directly or thru a friend, ONLY use the goods & services option in paypal/venmo to pay, and state in the description exactly what you are buying. if you get scammed, you can dispute it with the service, and they’ll refund you. using zelle, cashapp, or regular venmo/paypal opens you up to scams. note that g&s takes a fee from the seller, so i’ll always add 2% or whatever the fee is to my payment so they get the full amount, and i offer to do that upfront when suggesting my method of payment.
other random notes and tips 🌟
some sellers don’t like using g&s because after a certain amount you have to pay taxes on your sales. for a purchase this big, i wouldn’t risk it personally. i’ve seen people send half the money, receive the ticket, then send the other half, i’ve seen people facetime during transactions to ensure stuff goes thru and that there are real people on both sides and all of those are valid options. unless it’s someone i or a friend know, or if it’s a small purchase, i personally always use g&s and leave no room for error.
best time to buy 🌟
this next week or two will have many resellers, and then again in the 1-2 months leading up to the show. the weeks leading up to the show are when i start to do my rounds of searches every few hours, every day. it pays off.
if you’re willing to risk not getting anything, you can get great deals the night before or day of the show, even on those resale sites like stubhub or on tm itself, cuz this is when ppl are desperate to sell. i’ve even gotten free tickets before looking on twt hours before.
ok that’s all. lmk if u have any questions and feel free to dm me if you ever want help vetting someone! i want all of u to be safe and am willing to help make sure things work out for u. thank u! 🌟
again, here's the link to the original thread!!

it almost becomes sympathy or this feel sorry narrative everytime you hashtag woc or black. That’s why it gets annoying
I don't post things like that for a "feel sorry" narrative" though.
Why should me pointing out the obvious, that Zendaya MAY have also received backlash for her "Challengers" role (among many OTHER reasons) because of her being a poc? 🤔 It's not a narrative. It's a fact. If you look on Twitter you can see all kinds of racist things said about her, even in the Dune movie. There were even some poc who didn't like the optics of her having a threesome with "two White boys", even though she's half-White herself. 🙄😒 She got hate from all sides of the spectrum!
Women of color, whether Black or not, have the dual challenge of not just being hated against because of their gender, but also because of their race as well! A lot of times, it's a dual discrimination.
I don't think that I need to bring up Fran's experience with the R&J play again to make you see that a lot of hate that she received was BECAUSE she was a Black woman. A lot of it was racially-motivated. It's not the only reason (I think other factors of lookism were involved), but it's one of the main reasons.
And many times, Black women have to deal not only with misogyny, misogynoir, but also colorism on top of that! 🥴 That's THREE things up have to contend with at the same time. 😔
So, while some women are only having to deal with misogyny due to their gender, OTHER women out here are having to deal with that on top of other things.
Why does that fact make you feel so uncomfortable though? 🤔 You should ask yourself, why do you not feel sympathy for a fellow woman, whether White OR Black? Why are you calling "annoying" someone simply sharing the facts of life, or sharing their experiences?
Can't you feel for people who don't look like you or share your exact same experiences? 🤔
Can't you accept what someone tells you is their personal life experience and not try to downplay it or belittle them?
Just curious. 🤷🏾♀️
Anyway, not sure why you're bothered by "woc" or "Black" hashtags, but that shouldn't make you feel uncomfortable. These hashtags are not intended to be exclusory of other women, any more than tagging "NYC" is intended to be exclusory of Chicago.
For a group of people who has historically been put down, we should be allowed to raise ourselves up and be comfortable in our own skin without having people trying to tell us how we should be, or what we should and should not post.
BTW, just as a sidenote, idk what others use hashtags for on tumblr, but most of the time I'm using hashtags as an organizing system for MYSELF so that I can find related posts again, because goodness knows Tumblr's search feature SUCKS LOL 😆 😅
Every now and then I'll use the hashtag feature to write a cute comment, or to just to make jokes, or say things I won't put on the post section itself lol... but usually, the tags are just for organization purposes so that I can find posts on certain topics again. 😉 It sometimes also let's my readers know what the topic of the post is about. 😊
