The child of a Sun elf mother and Moon elf father. Although the Elven Wars had ended by the time of Orét's birth, hostilities still ran rampant between both Courts, and their family struggled to find true acceptance. Orét was initially raised in Dewbright Hollow, territory belonging to neither Court, before attempting to integrate into her mother and father's respective communities. Feeling unwelcome in both, she instead made for the Rhynerian capitol, hoping to find acceptance there. They were hired by Queen Noirata as a Deputationeer, a new role to help diffuse conflicts without needing military involvement. Although intended as a peaceful duty, Orét and her coworker, Karkat, are known for their rough and rowdy attitudes.

A boisterous youth from the farming village of Holswood Thicket. Although the pride of his village for his great strength, he was something of a troublemaker, and regularly found himself in trouble of some sort (although he always insisted it was trouble that found him). Discontent with the life of a herbalist he took to adventuring, eventually finding one of the Gates. Although he refuses to speak of his visit to Earth one can assume it was not a pleasant trip, as he returned without his hands. Queen Blanchere, sympathetic to his plight, offered him a position as Deputationeer, a new role in the Castle Town established by her sister. He was fitted with hooks to replace his missing hands, although he often substitutes them with other tools as the situation requires.

I started this drawing 10 days before the deadline but I luckily got this turned in on time. I wasn't entirely happy with the pose I settled on but I didn't have much time so I just went with it. It grew on me as I went on though so that's good. I had fun :]

hey did you know??? that if you stop stretching and maintaining mobility in your body then it goes away?? things get tight and you can't move the way that you used to??? and when you decide to try getting a stretch routine going that the first week fucking sucks because you keep going 'damn i used to be able to do this no problem' and then you have to switch gears and be kind to yourself and just focus on getting better from here instead of berating yourself for dropping the good habits in the first place??? and your body never stops aging so you gotta keep taking care of it and sometimes you gotta take care of it extra in certain areas because of things that happened when you were younger and it's boring and sometimes hurts but it's so necessary???

i am yelling this at myself right now i am going through An Experience (trying to get into a routine of body maintenance again for my physical and mental health)
