Is it beer? Is it pee? No! It’s Ginger Tumeric Orange Tea. I'm not a doctor or a licensed nutritionist. I'm a person who went to India, learned some things, and is continuing to learn more things.  

Over the last two weeks I’ve been on vacation mode visiting with friends who have ventured away from the US to visit me in Europe. I’ve been eating and drinking all the things; and I mean ALL the things. My body and my skin are, understandably,  reacting poorly. I'm on day 3 of regulating my system and this tea has been a huge help! 

 Let’s talk about the nutritional information of what's in it: 

Ginger - For those of us who have been gifted with the feelings of acid reflux, ginger is reported to be a remedy. Additionally, Ginger is said to be a natural anti-inflammatory, aids in digestion, and has anti-bacterial properties. 

Turmeric - Turmeric`s medicinal properties have been heeded by ayurvedic medicine for centuries. In addition to it having anti-inflammatory effects, turmeric also contains curcumin making it a powerful antioxidant. Curcumin also has proven to increase brain function and decrease the risk of brain disease. 

Orange - This tea has squeezed orange juice and orange peel in it. Orange Juice, as we all know, is an excellent source for vitamin C. The orange peel, on the other hand, is an excellent source of polyphenols that have been reported to help maintain and reduce chronic symptoms of type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, and obesity. 

How to make it: 

One piece of ginger 

One piece of turmeric

1/2 of an orange 

Approximately 1 liter of water 

- Wash your roots and orange to rid them of any pesticides. 

**Before cutting into the turmeric you may want to put on gloves and cover your counter. This root really likes to share its orange color everywhere.  

- Peel the ginger, turmeric, and orange half. I really don’t like to have waste and have always been of the mindset that, “Dirt don’t hurt,” so I use everything I’ve peeled. If the idea of using the rind bothers you, don’t use them. 

-Turn on a kettle or boil water in a pot on the stove. Once the water is boiling add your ingredients. Bring to a simmer for about 20 minutes. 

-To serve, reheat to desired temperature and enjoy! This is tea is also great for the summer if you chill it. And, if you’re feeling sassy, garnish it with a slice of orange.
