"The same is true of yogurt, fresh fruits, vitamin C, and a whole host of other, nutrient-dense foods."
... Damnit Joy. Will you kindly stop drop-kicking all my random "yeah, it upsets my stomach to eat that" stuff? (I say this lovingly and without malice.)
Sorry for being weird on your post, but has any East Asian person gotten upset about your allergy? Hopefully you were gracious and civil and not a racist about that. There’s been pseudoscience regarding MSG and East Asians have been wrongly slandered for it when a 7-11 hot dog has more msg than a pile of steamed dumplings from a takeout restaurant.
I had no idea what post you were talking about; I had to go look. No idea why that old post started circulating again, but thank you for the addition.
You're right; even though I didn't mention MSG anywhere in that post, there is a lot of pseudoscience around it, and it's heavily steeped in racism.
While I've never had anyone be mean to me about it (at least not once I've explained what MCAS is), it's still very frustrating if I mention being sensitive to MSG because people immediately assume I'm talking about East Asian foods when, as you rightly pointed out, there's more MSG in your average American hot dog. Not to mention pizza.
While I get very, very ill eating things like steamed dumplings (sadly, I used to love them!) I'm going to get equally ill from eating things like tomatoes and certain cheeses, which contain MSG naturally.
Trying to explain that latter part to some people really makes their heads explode, lol. Because, yeah, MSG occurs naturally! It's flavorful and not harmful -- it's just not good for histamine-sensitive people!
Unfortunately, MCAS/HIT awareness isn't great, so people assume their symptoms are because "MSG is bad" and not because they're sensitive to histamine. It sucks. I wish people were more aware.
This is why whenever I talk about MSG I'm mindful to frame it in the above context. MSG is a safe flavor enhancer that occurs naturally and that can make some people ill because it is a histamine liberator.
The same is true of yogurt, fresh fruits, vitamin C, and a whole host of other nutrient-dense, vital foods. It's the disorder that sucks, not the foods!

You're putting away groceries when your cell phone dings an alert. You scoff, leaving the fridge door standing open, and turn back to the counter with a bag of grapefruit dangling from your hand, sliding the phone closer to read the screen.
'S sent you a message.'
A tingle starts at the base of your skull that tightens your scalp and lifts the hairs at the nape of your neck. You huff out a shaky breath and open the app with a trembling finger to read his text.
[S]: omw. eta 30m. b ready
You inhale slow and deep. He's back. He's home. He's on his way. He'll be there in thirty minutes… and he wants you to be ready to greet him.
You scramble to get the rest of the groceries put away and hurry to your bedroom, stripping clothes as you go. A quick shower, like the fastest you've ever taken, and then you're in your closet, looking for that one white sundress with the tiny orange and yellow flowers in the print. It's his favorite. He's never said it, but he always takes his time removing it, toying with the straps, rubbing the eyelet trim between his fingers.
You utter a quiet, "Yes!" when you find it.
Skip the bra. The straps don't look right with the dress anyway, but the panties…
Which pair should you choose?
You hold up thongs and high-waist French cuts and boy shorts in multiple colors and textures. No. No. No… but then you smile when you pull out a pair of white cotton bikini panties with the tiniest pink satin rose sewed onto the stretch-lace waistline. He loves the innocent look, the virginal white. You slide them on and then shimmy the dress over your head, contorting your arms to work the zipper up the back.
You feel a little frantic, knowing he is just minutes away.
Now what? you ask yourself, and somehow your brain supplies the answer.
The lotion. God, how could you forget the lotion?
He likes to watch you put on lotion; says he loves how it makes your skin feel like silk. You grab the bottle from the bathroom and set it on your little vanity table, then arrange yourself on its cushioned stool just so. You check the time on your cell, then put it on silent and wait, heart pounding in your chest.
'S' has his preferences, some run-of-the-mill, others more unique in taste. The mask he always wears took a little getting used to, and his refusal to share his name. He could have lied, given you a false name, but he didn't. He only gave you an initial - 'S', but you are confident it actually is his real initial. Say what you want about the strangeness of your relationship, but at least it's honest, which is more than most can say about their own relationships.
You hear the muffled jangle of keys and the squeak of hinges as your front door opens, then silence. For such a big man, he moves about with such eerily quiet steps, but you can sense his presence in the other room. He'll take off his boots and leave them by the door before he joins you. He never walks around your flat with shoes on; he thinks it's disrespectful to track up your floors. You cross your legs when you hear the creak of a floorboard and begin rubbing lotion into your calf.
You can feel when he stops at your door to stare. The jamb gives a soft pop when he leans a shoulder against it, but you don't look up, giving him time to watch as long as he wants. Eventually, there's a sigh from the doorway and you finally glance up at him, a little smile on your face. "Hey."
His mahogany eyes are half-lidded, lazy, but their gaze is avid as they follow the motion of your hand. "'Ello, love. Miss me?"
The rough gravel of his voice in that familiar Manc accent settles along your spine, sinks into the marrow of your bones, both a thrill and a comfort to hear. You hum at the sound, smile widening. "Always."
He watches you a moment longer then comes to sit on the bed across from you, eyes still locked on the hand smoothing lotion over your skin. "Just get out of the shower?"
"Mm-hm." You tug the hem of the skirt up higher to reach your thigh. A tingle of anticipation sparks to life deep in your core and radiates a warmth through your pelvis.
He'll start talking now, you think, telling you everything he thought about while he was away.
He pulls the hem of his shirt out of his pants, begins to undo the buttons down the front, his movements casual, leisurely. He's in no hurry. "Missed the smell of that shampoo ya use. Always makes my cock hard when I get a whiff of it."
…and here we go.
You try not to squirm as you recross your legs to lotion up the other one. "Yeah?" you murmur, keeping your voice low and soft. "The herbal one with lemongrass?"
"Yeah. Tha's the one." He breathes out a heavy breath and reaches down to adjust the bulge in his pants, giving it a little squeeze before releasing it. "Like t'think about it when I fuck my fist in the shower."
You feel that heady drop of arousal in your lower belly as you let a little smirk play around your lips. "Is that all you think about while you're fucking your hand?" you goad.
He huffs out a grating chuckle. "'Course it's not, love. It gets me goin', but I usually think about yer cunt to get off. How wet ya get for me. How tight ya squeeze me when I fuck ya good an' deep. What ya feel like when ya cum. The thought of it's got me leakin' right now." He reaches down to grip himself, eyes meeting yours. "Want t'see?"
You peer at him through lowered lashes, biting your lip to hide your coy grin. "Yeah. I'd like that."
He removes his shirt, tosses it to the foot of the bed, then reaches for his belt. He's patient, methodical as he strips it from the loops and lays it aside, then undoes his pants. He pulls his cock out over his underwear, cupping his balls in one hand while he strokes his length with the other. He swipes his thumb over the tip, gathers the precum. "See how much I've missed ya?" He holds it up for you to see. "Want a taste, sweetheart?"
You nod, leaning forward, stretching your torso out to meet him. He rubs his thumb over your parted lips before slipping it between them, letting you suck and tongue at his thumb before pulling it back, dragging it down your bottom lip. "Thought about this mouth, too," he murmurs, his deep rumble sinful and low. "I almost like fuckin' it as much as yer sweet lil cunt. Like how ya use yer tongue on me, how ya swallow 'round my cock. Feels so fuckin' good, makes my balls draw up so bloody tight. Nothin' in the world like it."
You preen at the praise and your channel clenches, slick oozing into the already damp cotton of your panties. You love this game, but it's torture, listening to him talk about all the things he imagines you doing to him, all the things he wants to do to you. It's a kind of foreplay you've never experienced with anyone else, at least not to the extent that he takes it.
Sure, you've been with 'talkers' in bed before, but their words were always said in the heat of the moment, gasped out and desperate. He does all his talking before the main event, his words even and deliberate, building up the anticipation as he describes his debauched thoughts in detail. It leaves you dripping before he ever touches you.
"Had a dream about ya," he says, giving his cock a languid stroke. "You were on the bed, arse up in the air, and I'm just poundin' ya, an' yer makin' those fuckin' noises that make my gut twist. I swear I could feel how wet ya were, how it felt slidin' in an' out of ya. Woke up to find I'd made a bloody mess o' m'self," he laughed, short and husky. "Bet ya like that, don't ya, lovie? Do ya like that ya make me cum in my sleep like some horny fuckin' kid?"
You smirk at him, nod. "Yeah. I do." You can't take your eyes off his stroking hand, how it looks wrapped around his thick length. You rub your thighs together for a little friction. Your clit is throbbing so hard right now.
He grunts. "'S my fault. Gave it a wank before I fell asleep, ya know, just a few tugs while I was thinkin' 'bout ya. Pissed me off, losin' my load that close to comin' home. Ya know I like to save it all up for ya, give it to ya proper, fill up that sweet lil cunny of yers."
You let your knees fall apart, feel the skirt drape between your thighs as you press your fingers to your clit through the cotton, too turned on to resist the urge to touch yourself. Your eyes flutter closed with a breathy sigh. You lick your lips. "I don't have that kind of strength," you confess. "If I think about you, how good you fuck me, it always makes me cum. I can't stop myself."
You hear his low groan and slit your eyes open, see the way his head is thrown back, resting his weight on one arm while he continues to stroke his cock. You want to push him, so you continue to talk, watching him.
"I think about what your tongue feels like when you lick my pussy. God... h-how good it feels when you fuck me with it or suck my clit. Love how you look with my cum on your lips, how it tastes when you kiss me." Your voice has gone high, edging into a whine.
"Fuc-kin' hell…" he breathes out. His hand torques down on the base of his cock. He's reached his limit. Anymore and his cum will be arcing through the air to splatter on the floorboards between you, and he'll be damned if he's losing another load like that, not when you're this close.
He stares at you as he grips his cock, watches your hand circling in the folds of your skirt. "C'mere, love," he rasps out. "Come stand in front of me."
You're on your feet in an instant, teetering a bit before he reaches out to steady you. He draws you closer to stand between his knees, hands skimming down from your waist and over your hips, fingers trailing along the skirt until he reaches the hem. "Want me to touch ya, love?"
You nod, swallowing down the spit that's lodged at the back of your throat. "God, please touch me," you sigh out in a rush, resting your hands on his bare shoulders to steady yourself.
His eyes crinkle and you know he's smiling beneath the cloth mask, pleased by your words, the needy way you said them. "'S alright, sweetheart. Ya know I've got ya. Spread those pretty legs for me a lil, yeah?"
You widen your stance, a shiver racking your body as he places his fingers feather-light on your calves and then glides them up beneath the hem of your dress, sliding past your knees to skim over the smooth skin of your outer thighs. He doesn't stop until he reaches your hips, thumbs caressing your hips bones through the cotton panties. He slips them underneath the elastic that circles your thighs, calloused pads pressing lightly into the meat of your mons. His thumbs meet right above your clit, and your mouth falls open as you prepare for that first touch.
It's euphoric.
The pad of one thumb grazes over the swollen nub; it's a light touch, but slow in execution. He slides his thumb over it again, up and down in a slow, steady rhythm as he increases the pressure. When he finally begins to rub circles into your clit, your knees threaten to give out and a pool of slick puddles in the crotch of your panties. "Oh, my god…"
He's watching you with rapt attention, eyes zeroed in on your face. His chest is visibly rising and falling with his heavy breaths now, his voice strained as he rumbles out, "Take yer knickers off for me, sweetheart. Do it nice an' slow."
You blink your eyes open and nod, stepping back. You hitch the skirt up and hook your thumbs into the sides of your panties. He leans back for a better view, his cock flexing against his lower abdomen when he sees you pull the white cotton down from between your thighs. You lower them slow, just like he asked, letting them go when they go past your knees.
"Look so fuckin' pretty when ya do that," he murmurs, sitting up again. He grazes a hand over the front of your skirt, voice gone to gravel when he tells you, "Hand me yer knickers and hold up that skirt, love. Want t'see that pretty lil cunny. I've missed it."
It feels so obscene to be holding up your dress for a man to stare at your naked pussy. He' still stroking his cock, your damp panties clutched in the other hand, and he's pressing them against the mask covering his nose. You can hear him taking deep breaths, filling his sinuses with your musk, low moans escaping when he exhales. Eventually, he brings his hand down, and the panties disappear into the front pocket of his jeans. You won't see those panties again, you know, so you make a mental note to buy more just like them.
"Yer so beautiful," he sighs out, pulling you closer to press his face into your stomach. He breathes you in, muttering into the folds of your skirt. "Pull up the mask, sweetheart, like I showed ya."
Your trembling hands slide from his shoulders to his neck, cool fingers curling beneath the fabric, giving him a moment to adjust to the sensation before you slowly begin to peel it up. You stop when you reach his nose, leaving the lower half of his face exposed. You feel a shiver quake through his form and he groans.
His hands slide up to knead at your breasts through your dress, rolling and pinching your nipples until they're hard and tight beneath the fabric. He slides a hand behind your back and pulls down the zipper, then hooks his fingers into the straps, dragging them down your shoulders. As soon as your breasts are exposed, he's yanking you forward, hitching your legs up around his hips as he wraps an arm around your waist. His hand comes up to cup your breast, fingers indenting the flesh as he dips his head to suck the nipple into his mouth. He moans as he rolls his tongue over it, then grunts when you grind against his cock.
He releases your nipple and grinds up into you with a filthy grunt before he captures the other nipple between his lips, eyes locked with yours as he catches the bud between his teeth and worries it. You're whimpering, pressing your chest into his face, throwing your head back with a gasping, "Hah!" as he draws in as much of your breast as he can fit into his mouth. He's ravenous with them, biting and marking, staking his claim.
You're mindlessly grinding against each other now, his cock gliding through your slick heat, making the most obscene wet sounds. You feel his hand slip from around your waist and burrow underneath your gathered skirt to grip your ass, and then you're being flipped over, landing on your back with an 'oof!' as he settles his weight against you.
He only pauses long enough to push his pants down past his hips and then he's notching the head of his cock at your pulsing entrance and pressing forward, a guttural groan vibrating through his chest as he sinks into you. He doesn't stop until the head of his cock bumps against the sensitive barrier of your cervix, and then he holds himself there, panting through gritted teeth.
You know he won't move until he'd regained some control. He'll wait til he feels the muscles in your channel relax, the spasms easing into pulsing undulations that milk at his cock. His eyes slide halfway open and lock with yours as he begins to move inside you, bracing his weight on his arms so he can hover over you, so he can watch your face as he fucks you. You know he won't speak again; he can't. It renders him as speechless as it does you, catching you both up in the heady sensation of being joined after so long.
All of his focus is on you now, intent on making you cum for him. He won't be satisfied until your clenching around him, just a shaking wet mess lying beneath him. He fucks you slow and deep, drinking in every detail of your face as your jaw goes slack and your eyes haze over. Your breathy pants morph into moans when he begins to thrust harder, snapping his hips, clapping his balls against your ass in a steady tattoo. You see his eyes roll back, his lids slide shut, but he blinks them open with a grunt, determined not to miss a moment of your pleasure. It gets him off to know he makes you feel so good.
He hits that spot that only he can find, a pleasure-pain that vibrates deep in your core and radiates out to thrum through your clit. Tears begin to swim in your eyes and thoughts fade into the background. Nothing else exists except that building pressure in the cradle of your pelvis, each thrust he delivers threatening to burst the dam holding it back. Your channel flutters, begins to spasm, and his low moan becomes a choked whine when your walls clamp down.
Your heels dig into his ass, your fingers raking down his back, and he growls through his clenched teeth. Your neck arches as you tilt your chin up to the ceiling, body tense as a wire and vibrating around him as you teeter on the very edge of orgasm. One more hard thrust sends you over, and you inhale a sobbing breath as the world melts around you.
It's a rush of bliss, a cascade of liquid heat that flows like warm, sticky honey throughout your lower body. It comes in waves that pulse in time with the throb in your clit. You can feel your cum flow over and around his cock, hear the squelch of liquid as he continues to rail into you with unhinged pleasure. With one final thrust he buries himself balls deep and cums, growling as he empties himself inside your spasming walls. He finally allows his eyes to roll shut, chin lowered to his chest as he gives a few more sloppy thrusts, wanting to push his seed deep into your pulsing core.
With your feet still hooked over the backs of his thighs, your legs quake around him as you shudder. He lowers himself to an elbow, brings his other arm back to run a soothing hand over your trembling thigh, soothing you as you ride out your orgasm. His mouth descends to cover yours, his tongue snaking out to tangle with yours in a wet, sensual kiss.
He only releases his claim on your mouth when he feels you go slack beneath him, completely spent and utterly wrecked. Wrapping his arms around you, he drags your limp form further up the bed until your head is resting on the pillows, your body sinking into the mattress. He stretches out beside you and gathers you against him, his arm around your waist pulling you snug against his side. His lips brush over your temple as he sighs, relaxed and sated for the first time in months.
"Missed you," you murmur into his chest, sliding an arm around his waist and a leg over his thigh. "Stay with me tonight?" you ask, like you always do.
"Maybe," he lies, but he holds you close, and you feel his hands grip you in remorse. If he could, he would stay. You know he would. "Jus' sleep, love. I'll be here when you wake up."
You close your eyes and pretend it's the truth.

Plants with defense mechanisms against mammals do not consent to be killed and eaten by humans! They have made it clear that they do not want that!
Phenols are intended to irritate mucous membranes and act as toxins. Tannins are anti-nutrients that prevent absorption and inhibit digestive enzymes. Extra-floral nectar and many volatile organic compounds are the rape whistle of the plant world, a desperate attempt to attract allies that will defend them from predation. Terpinoids, alcohol, alkaloids, and cyanogenic glycosides are all defensive compounds. These are all a clear statement of non-consent!
Stop eating these plants immediately:
Fruit: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pomegranates, grapes, oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, apples, persimmons, quinces, wild cherry, pineapple, bananas, goji, cassava, apricots, plums, peaches
Vegetables: spinach, kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, onions, garlic, potatoes, eggplants, okra, bamboo shoots
Nuts/seeds: walnuts, pecans, sesame seeds, flaxseed, almonds, sunflower seeds, guarana, kola
Grain/grass/legumes: oats, barley, rice, lentils, chickpeas, wheat, sorghum, beans, peas
Other: tea, coffee, cocoa, tumeric, ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, lemongrass, rosemary, yerba mate, paprika
This isn't an exhaustive list. Grocery aisles are full of violated plants. A strong scent is a sign of elevated volatile organic compounds and sour or tart flavors are often due to defense compounds. So that can be a hint. But check the species you normally eat to be sure.
Caffeine is a defensive toxin and the caffeine in other things is extracted from plants, so beware of caffeinated snacks and drinks that seem otherwise safe. Also watch your vitamins and supplements for nonconsensual extracts. And don't forget cosmetics and skincare! Many plumping formulas contain caffeine and/or other defensive compounds like capsaicin.
This is just another step in moving toward an exploitation-free life. If a living thing has expressly denied consent, it's unethical to kill it and consume its remains. Just bc their screams are at ultrasonic frequencies doesn't mean they fall on deaf ears.

the little things questionnaire .

Tumblr media
favourite tea . lemongrass ginger tea. given the limited and often contaminated resources brought to the isle, harry had limited options as far as tea went. before the barrier's removal, harry would drink plain fermented dark tea. it was bitter, and leaves a strong and dry aftertaste that lingers for hours. he was introduced to lemongrass ginger tea while in auradon, he considers it a luxury treat.
favourite coffee . he doesn't drink coffee. if he has to he'll have a plain black coffee or a red eye but will suffer for the rest of the day because it makes him overly jittery and hyperactive.
favourite sweet snack . crab cakes. harry doesn't have much of a sweet tooth and eating a lot of sugary things will make him nauseous. but crab meat ( as well as crayfish, lobster, and shrimp meat ) has a natural sweet and savory taste. he also likes chili dark chocolate truffles. they're strong, bitter, and spicy, he considers these a luxury treat too.
favourite savory snack . roasted winged termites. he eats them like trail-mix. most insects and rodents on the isle became an ample food source, most food stalls or carts have roasted, fried, or deep fried insects like spiders, weevils, crickets. the termites have a vegetable-like taste to them and are more of a seasonal luxury on the isle so he will eat them sparingly.
favourite flower . red anemone. harry doesn't spend a lot of time learning or identifying the kinds or types of flora unless absolutely necessary ( or allie's talking ), but he likes red and i can imagine someone telling him the story of adonis and aphrodite. forget-me-nots are a second favourite, he likes the colour.
favourite colours . sea blue / sea green. the water around the isle is dark, muggy, and dirty from trash and pollution but he can see the water past the barrier and he loves the colour. it's calming, the shades remind him of the sea, of the horizon, and of uma. red is his second favourite colour. it's bold and loud, it's an aesthetic warning and is his trademark colour. he prefers darker and more muted shades like wine or oxblood reds.
favourite fruit . lemons. sour and bitter, he'll eat lemons like most people eat apples. he likes citris fruits, feijoa's, grapefruit, tamarillo, dragonfruit, are other fruits he enjoys. he'll eat banana's, oranges, and berries, but he prefers the sour ones.
favourite vegetable . potatoes. they're very versatile and he's most familiar with them. he's not had a bad experience with potatoes, though he did react some kind of way the first time he had sweet potatoes ( not a fan ). he likes peppered hash browns the most.
favourite season . summer. the isle didn't experience the full spectrum of seasons, generally they had storm season and not-storm season. summer on the isle was just a somewhat dryer heat. with the barrier gone, the isle now experiences proper seasons and their summers are hot and breezy given the isle's coasts. sailing during the summer is a favourite pastime, as is visiting the beaches with the crew or attending concerts and summer festivals.
favourite time of day . late afternoon. the isle generally wakes and becomes active in the early afternoon with most businesses opening and schools starting around the same time. 3-6pm is the busiest time of the day and gives harry a lot to do.
favourite kind of weather . cool and slightly cloudy. harry works and moves around a lot so he prefers cool weather. most of his activities are spent outdoors and extreme temperatures can be really annoying and inconvenient. it helps that it's the best kind of weather to go sailing.
love language(s) to give . acts of service. harry is very action and goal orientated. when the people he cares about need or want something done, he does it. whatever shape or form that might take. often harry doesn't need to be asked to do these things, but he does enjoy when his people ask him for favours. in a lot of ways it means his people trust and need him. the flipside of this, is that harry can and does commit acts of service against his people's wishes, sometimes ignoring their objections entirely. it's something he's trying to work on. physical touch. harry is an extremely tactile person, he seeks with his hands, grasping for purchase, holding, squeezing, embracing. he'll often instigate physical contact with others, showing a possessiveness when he does it.
love language(s) to receive . physical touch. harry finds physical touch grounding, physical affection ( especially casual physical affection ) endearing and pleasant, he'll gravitate towards that touch. seeking it out, waiting patiently for it, drowning himself in it when he gets it. he finds the act of physical contact keeps him rooted in reality, it makes him feel real and alive. quality time. harry appreciates spending time with his people almost more than he enjoys touching people. for someone to seek him out, to spend the time with him, whatever he might be doing, makes him feel appreciated, liked, loved ( though he wouldn't use that word himself ), makes him feel that his people want him around, that they value him beyond just what he can do for them.
specific niche love language . arguing , passionate discussions . harry is very opinionated and very hardheaded. his morals and belief system isn't universial and definitely isn't agreeable with most of the people he cares about. he needs his people to be able to stand up for their own morals or beliefs, he needs them to feel safe enough with him that they can disagree, that they can discuss their own perspective with him even if they differ. being able to have those discussions, being willing to teach or show him something he hadn't or didn't consider before is important to him because he wants to understand where his people are coming from. on the flip side, his people being willing to understand him and where he is coming from is just as important to him.
favourite hobbies . sparring. harry will never turn down an opportunity to spar or train. he enjoys the powerplay, the competition, he enjoys learning new things, new moves, he likes the challenge of finding new ways to beat someone, and he likes teaching others too. sailing. obviously, he's a pirate who loves the sea and seafaring. he'll take any opportunity to take a boat or a ship out. especially now that the barrier is gone. he and the crew disappear for days on end just exploring, he even enjoys teaching and training others how to sail and navigate. drawing. it's more of a relaxing pastime, something stationary that gives him time to sit and focus on something simple and trivial.
favourite book(s) . the velveteen rabbit, margery williams. harry doesn't and won't ever have much interest in reading, beyond not having the skill for reading for leisure or enjoyment, he just doesn't have the patience. harry only really starts to learn to read once the barrier is gone and the velveteen rabbit is a short story. the writing is traditional and easy to read and understand, and the moral / themes of realness, love, and identity are things that harry at least would find compelling. generally, he prefers plays.
favourite movie(s) . the blair witch project, or an in-universe alternative. i see harry being a casual horror / slasher movie fan. enjoying the violence, gore, over-the-top acting, and the audience reactions. given auradon's overall culture, i don't see there being many production companies that cater to that kind of genre and i think any kind of horror / slasher movie would be deep underground indie films, acted, shot, and produced by students and aired in secret or in home movie theaters rather than at any auradon cinemas.
favourite song(s) . before i forget, slipknot, or an in-universe alternative. harry's a metalhead. with the crew it's sea shanties, hip hop, pop, alternative rock with a side of r&b and soul all day every day, but when it's just harry, it's metal. he finds the song as a person breaking the mold, rising above while taking pride in where they came from and staying true to who and what they are.
favourite musician . avenged sevenfold, fire from the gods, iron maiden, bloodbather, or the in-universe alternatives. like i said, he's a metalhead. i see harry being a bit of an isle purest, always preferring isle artists more than artists from anywhere else.
favourite animals . sharks, especially those around fisherman's wharf which were probably bull sharks. while bull sharks are typically solitary creatures, they would have been forced to adapt to isle life and likely began operating and hunting in packs. harry spent a lot of time with the sharks, both on and offshore, studying behaviours and hunting techniques, and like the rest of the crew he learned to swim with them.
favourite insect . longhorn larvae. a fat, white, timber eating grub. the full grown grubs that are preparing to pupate have no undigested wood pulp inside of them, so they taste the best. they taste like peanut butter or buttery chicken. he also thinks the longhorn beetles that they evolve into are neat, he's seen them brawl and they tend to hack off each other's limbs which he finds funny.
favourite terrain . the ocean. harry's explored the majority of the ocean terrain surrounding the isle, both above and below water level. discovering and exploring various caves, tunnels, gorges, and gully's. the removal of the barrier has allowed much of the surrounding isle terrain to thrive and recover, now there are even coral reefs and many new species of sea creatures.

Top 10 Annoying Orange Videos
Some people don’t like Annoying Orange, but for those that do, I wanna make a top 10 of episodes. As far as I researched, besides the channel itself posting a top 10 of episodes based on views, I don’t think anyone actually posted a Top 10 of Orange episodes, and I honestly think it deserves it.
The show created by Dane Boedigheimer, which was intended to be a one episodes thing, grew up to become something beyong he or any of us could imagine. This show revolves, obviously, around the main character, its ways of annoying directly or indirectly other foods, objects and guest stars in the kitchen. Though sometimes a joke CAN be carried for far too long, there ARE some good episodes that show the potential of this webseries and I’d like to show you some of my favorites.
Now, there are various holiday themed episodes, like the Christmas and Halloween themed ones, and certain episodes from Shocktober and Ask Orange series, and of course MANY movie spoofs. These are not entering the list, sorry. I’ll be focusing on episodes that are not part of a series, are not technically spoofs, challenges, or asks to any character. Mostly pattern adventures in the kitchen, other locations and those I perosnally think that used the comedy better.
NOPE, not using the first ever episode, it’s cheating!
10 - Close Encounters of the Annoying Kind
Yeah, despite the title it isn’t a spoof episode, but it does involve the main idea: Pear and Orange get abducted. By what? Greys? Xenomorphs? Predators? Nope, BROCCOLI! Alien Broccoli! And I’m really sure the short-lived Cartoon Netwrok show took notice of this episode and saw an opportunity there. Really, I do like most of the episodes in the show, so don’t you dare judging me.
Back to the episode, that’s basically it: Orange and Pear are in a spaceship, with alien broccoli planning to dissect them. I just question why Orange seems to LIKE Justin Bieber, but this episode IS from 2010, so it was before we knew who he really is. I also really like the Broccoli Leader voiced by Evan Ferrante aka NotTomCruise. This early episode has a simple premise, the jokes flow properly, it’s good. I really like it.
9 - The Amnesiac Orange
I was torn among this one and The Exploding Orange, but honestly, I think this one has a lot more funny potential. Basically Orange gets hit in the head by a canteloupe and forgets who he is. Then, an apple comes by and trick him into believing he’s an apple. That is brilliant, and a little mean. But then again, he IS an apple.
The casting is excellent, the memory loss scenario is used very well here, and for such a short story, we have quite a lot of laughs. I at least laughed very much at this one.
8 - ZOOM!!!
Another basic plot: Orange takes an energy drink. Just that has plenty of potential, like in the Family Guy episode New Kidney in Town’s beginning. The energy drink that gives the episode its name is voiced by Bobjenz, well known for the voice of Grapefruit. And it might be the pitch, which is actually something well handled by the webseries’ characters, but hearing Zoom’s voice and excitement at his first appearance brings a big smile to my face.
Also, adding a bit of venting here, in early episodes, Pear’s a lot more patient with Orange. He’s annoyed like everyone, but he still handles it with patience Orange’s hyper boost. Later episodes show Pear as intelligent and often hysterical, and always trying to hard to be something he isn’t. Like, in his extreme challenge videos, he seems to care too much about what others think of him. This early episodes Pear has a good will, patience and doesn’t deny being Orange’s friend, even though he’s annoying. I miss this.
7 - The Fruitbowl!
Orange and Pear narrate to us a Superbowl game and Little Apple literally becomes a part of that game. In Brazil we have the World Cup transmissions, but boy, the Superbowl events sound and look awesome, from the games to the crowd and performances. Heck, Michael Jackson started this trend.
There are funny moments, great slapstick and everyone gets a moment to shine. Marshmallow’s cute show is short but any moment with them is so cute. Please don’t bring up the gender discussion, It was settled recently that they're non-binary. This is a very good episode in my book.
6 - Clam’s Casino
This particular one is among those I hit replay for. A clam and his associates bring up a Vegas-style casino to the kitchen and we watch the Kitchen Crew, as we expect, bet and lose all their money. It’s a cliché, but clichés work when they’re properly used.
Brock Baker gave a great performance as Johnny Clam, and the jokes are well-written and portrayed. Certainly we’ll think twice before we gamble.
5 - Pickleback
I’m really confused about why people hate Nickelback. What happened? What did I miss? Anyway, this episode shows obviously a pickle version of the band brainwashing food to get pickled despite their song apparently being awful.
And Orange’s annoyance actually manage to save the day for once. This is quite refreshing and enjoyable to see: Orange helping his friends with what he can do. Another video on the replaying book.
4 - Fan Boy
At a certain point, we were and maybe still are all fanboys and fangirls, and when we get to meet our idols in person it’s like a dream come true. Imagine being a fan that’s a fan of the Annoying Orange?
Fan Boy’s behavior sort of remind us all of how we feel in this sort of environment. He even quotes the fan joke from an episode and how vintage things are. This episode works with what it has very nicely.
3 - Limes
Brad freakin’ Paisley! Really, Brad Paisley comes to the kitchen as a lime to cheer Orange up with a song. Musical episodes are always good, and Brad is really talented. This one reminds me a bit of Excess Cabbage, de in facto first episode of Annoying Orange I watched. So I hold it really dearly to my heart and added it to the replay book.
The song, the environment, the optimistic message, it’s a gem. I so reccomend this episode and this song.
2 - Cookie-DOH!
Everyone in the kitchen hides for Dane’s cooking something and when the oven gets open, a piece of cookie dough voice by Alexa Losey can’t wait to get in, and explains how she wants people to eat her, and the scenarios she often thought about.
I relate to her with having big expectations and feeling very upset when none of them come true, and reality is a b-word with us. It’s a feeling we all got to deal with and maybe still have to. I call this one a relatable character and this episode a great one on my list.
Before taking a stab at our number one here are some Honorable Mentions:
Best Fiends Forever
Grapefruit moves into the kitchen and Orange and everyone else can’t even. And also a different side of one of our favorite foods.
The Leprechaun Trap
A clever parody of advertising, as you probably seen in SNL multiple times, and on many Youtube viral videos.
Bacon Invaders
Just having Harley from Epic Meal Time means we’re off to a great episode!
Annoying Marshmallow
Unlike Annoying Pear, I really like Marshmallow doing Orange’s job, and actually making everything great and enjoyable for everyone. Really, Marshie, you are the best!
The Land Beyond the Kitchen
A train ride to the title’s world and the promise of the best adventures ever.
1 - Magnet Madness
This is another on my replay book. Orange and his friends are witnesses of a situation between the fridge’s magnets, two of them voiced by Ross Everett and Eric Scwartz, later the voice of the Gaming Grape. I love bullying-dealing episodes of any media, and this one has great comedy, born from the simplest parts.
Yeah, Orange and the others are mostly aside, but they still are a part of that whole thing. This is a very funny, very good written, very interesting Annoying Orange episode. It might not be for some people, but any episode that shows a great way to deal with a bully is a fine one for me.
Do you agree with the list? What is your favorite Annoying Orange video?

Carmy Acid
Disclaimer: This is not a meta, it's more like me freestyling and putting this out there before I forget. I'm gonna go about this from the standpoint of my former area of expertise which has nothing to do with the kitchen, except when it comes to pairing certain drinks with dishes, which I know how to do very well. Since I recently learned that most of the things I used to master are actually practiced by chefs every day in the BOH, I will not shy away now from using this still-not-forgotten cocktail artistry knowledge of mine to get this point across. I'll admit I'm a bit rusty, and it could be somewhat of a stretch, though... But here it goes.
Source: Freepour *shamelessly paraphrased.
From a taste perspective, citrus juices are the perfect natural souring ingredient. They have high acidity and a low sugar content, making them clean, fresh, and sharp.
Tumblr media
Even though the flavor is on the whole pleasant – when mixed and balanced with sweetness – it undeniably has a flavor of its own.
This means that when we use it in drinks its flavour will come through whether we want it there or not. This can limit the possibilities of flavor creation, as we have to factor in that citrus character to the final profile of whatever ingredients we are pairing.
In other words: It cannot be paired with any ingredients, it just won't work out. Oops!
Tumblr media
Much like the sugars, different acids will display different attributes when it comes to both the intensity of their acidity and how long that acidity will last on the palate.
Tumblr media
CITRIC
The obvious place to start here is citric acid. It has a relatively high level of sourness, but it is surprising to see that its taste will dissipate quickly. It has a distinctive zesty vibrancy to it with a sherbety fizz and tingle. While it is of course the primary acid in lemon and lime juice, as well as orange and grapefruit juices for that matter, it is also found in high concentration in many berries and tropical fruits such as pineapple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is Carmy acid always in the back of her mind?
Bonus track: Also I have this crazy idea since I came up with this HC about the Beef representing the sex flesh on the show about Syd representing the concord grapes (black grapes) and Carmy being the Beef (Beef consummé).
Tumblr media
And the only reason why that is significant when it comes to acidity is this:
Tumblr media
So that's why they go together perfectly with the meat because they are sweet but also acidic. Like an Italian chef I know...

Three Eaux de Cologne (Guerlain)
Tomas -- the cheerful philanderer of Milan Kundera's novel The Unbearable Lightness of Being -- adheres to a self-written code of ethics when arranging his many liaisons. "The important thing," he claims, "is to abide by the rule of threes. Either you see a woman three times in quick succession and then never again, or you maintain relations over the years but make sure that the rendezvous are at least three weeks apart".
Tomas breaks his own rule by remaining with (and even marrying) the tormented Tereza-- but the woman who "understands him best" is Sabina, an artist with whom he shares a bond untrammeled by jealousy or possessiveness. While Tereza represents all that is heavy and serious, Sabina personifies the weightlessness of freedom from attachment. Over time, her ephemeral quality proves contradictory to both Tomas and Tereza, for while she slips in and out of their lives, they cannot forget her-- nor she them. There is something about Sabina which lingers in memory, if not in actuality.
If Sabina were a fragrance, could she be anything but eau de cologne?
When something lovely, brief, plentiful, and refreshing is called for, eau de cologne is the obvious answer. Other fragrance compositions are "heavy" -- complex, deliberate, meant to be taken (and worn) seriously. Cologne is "light" -- a fleeting pleasure intended for impromptu use.
Yet for all its transience, eau de cologne can make a deep impression on the psyche. Many perfume wearers I've met tell of the indelible mark made in their memories by a certain fragrance worn by an older relative. More than half the time, that fragrance is an EDC. The paradox inherent in eau de cologne is that one enjoys so brief a time with it-- but once the bond is established, loyalty lasts a lifetime.
The first eau de cologne released by Giovanni Maria Farina in 1709 set a new standard in fragrance composition and usage. The rules were simple: take a base of orange blossom, peel, and leaf essential oils. Combine them variously with other citrus oils (lemon, lime, mandarin, grapefruit, bergamot), herbs (rosemary, thyme, lavender, artemisia), and florals (usually indolic white flowers such as jasmine or narcissus). Dilute the result in a disproportionately large amount of alcohol (up to nine parts out of ten). Lose the inhibitions, and start splashing it on.
Guerlain's introduction to the eau de cologne playing field came fairly late in the game (1853), by which time the genre was well-established. Guerlain's contribution was the use of stronger aromatic fixatives such as musk and cedar, which preserved the airiness of the classic EDC format while extending its life by a crucial heartbeat. Aside from Farina 1709 Original, 4711 Kölnisch Wasser, and Lanman & Murray Florida Water, the Guerlain series of eaux offers about the best introduction to the eau de cologne aesthetic that I can think of.
Over the last two weeks -- during which the East Coast became a veritable EZ-Bake Oven and the B.O. factor among the public I serve reached an all-time ascendancy -- I've thoroughly enjoyed flitting back and forth between Impériale, Fleurs de Cédrat, and Eau de Guerlain. If breezy, fresh, and fruity is the antidote to summer doldrums, I never needed it more than now.
Created in 1853, Eau de Cologne Impériale is the oldest of Guerlain's colognes. It kicks off with an intense lemon-lime accord, vibrant and exuberant, before revealing its beautiful-but-brief verveine-and-orange-blossom heart. Of course it lasts no longer on skin than it has taken me to type these words, but it's not meant to. One only needs a momentary boost to avoid slipping into a hot-weather case of the vapours.
Eau de Fleurs de Cédrat requires a little more time to appreciate. This one's a sorbet, creamy in texture but not milky in the slightest, with the dryness of powdered sugar and a mild animalic element which keeps it on skin somewhat longer than its counterparts. Its name is a subtle play on words, touching on cèdrat (citron) and cèdre (cedar), both of which it contains. Whether one is more prominent than the other appears to be a matter for the weatherman to decide. On a cooler day -- if you want to call 90°F "cooler"! -- I found much more orange blossom filling the air around me. During a scorcher, the emphasis is on cedarwood. Either way, enchantée.
What can be said about Eau de Guerlain that could possibly further embellish its well-deserved reputation? In descriptive terms, one could call it a delicious lemon-creme and herbal eau de cologne, and stop right there. Who needs more?
Well, I do.
Having never really tried my hand at layering before, I enlisted the Guerlain eaux within the last week for a running experiment in this time-honored perfume practice. Impériale and Eau de Guerlain were close enough in temperament so as to seem destined to be together, while Fleurs de Cédrat -- while playing well with others -- did just as well on its own. I would like to say that nothing could beat the three eaux layered together, one on top of the other. But as it happened, a bottom layer of Tauer's Lonestar Memories propelled the trio into a new and unexpected paradise. (Who knew that Guerlain could benefit from a touch of the dude ranch?)
Sabina, maybe. At the close of The Unbearable Lightness of Being, she too has migrated toward the setting sun-- settling fitfully on the West Coast, where she continues to create despite the alien quality of life around her. Upon learning of Tomas' and Tereza's demise, she writes a will stipulating that her cremated ashes be dispersed to the four winds, so that she may "die under the sign of lightness".
As she has lived, so Sabina will live on-- faithless, free, and true to her inner nature. She would, says Kundera, be lighter than air.

It's like the life of the party that brings sunshine and high fives to everyone’s taste buds! 2. Can I mix Breeze flavors, or is that a recipe for disaster? Mix away, my adventurous friend! Combining flavors is like throwing a surprise party for your mouth—it could turn out to be the bash of the year or just pleasantly unexpected. Try a Berry and Mint combo for a berry-minty mashup that's as refreshing as a pool dip in summer. 3. How long does a typical Breeze flavor last? Well, that depends on how much you love puffing away. Top 5 Coffee Beans In The World
Tumblr media
top 5 coffee Beans in the world
Tumblr media
If you like to know more, keep reading: Beyond the familiar duo of Arabica and Robusta, a world of unique coffee adventures awaits. Imagine Liberica, the rare giant boasting smoky-floral notes, or Excelsa, the high-altitude gem with hints of stone fruit. Intrigued? Prepare to delve into lesser-known varieties like the chocolaty Catimor, prized for its balanced sweetness and notes of citrus and spice, and the Blue Mountain from Jamaica with its rich, chocolaty depth. Each origin and bean unveils a distinct journey for your coffee-loving palate. Liberica Often overshadowed by its ubiquitous cousins Arabica and Robusta, Liberica coffee beans offer a truly unique sensory experience. These irregularly shaped giants, nearly twice the size of Arabica beans, boast a captivating aroma redolent of sweet florals and exotic fruits, reminiscent of jackfruit. On the palate, Liberica delivers a bold and complex punch, characterized by smoky, woody notes interwoven with subtle nuttiness. Sadly, this rare gem faces extinction, clinging to survival in Southeast Asia. However, for adventurous coffee connoisseurs seeking to support biodiversity and savor an unparalleled flavor journey, Liberica presents an opportunity not to be missed.
Tumblr media
Liberica Beans While Liberica coffee originated in Liberia, currently the Philippines holds the title of the largest producer of Liberica beans. It's known locally as "kapeng barako" and holds cultural significance, particularly in Batangas and Cavite provinces. However, it's primarily consumed domestically.Malaysia ranks second in Liberica production, mainly concentrated in the west coast's "Coffee Belt". Interestingly, their production outpaces Arabica within the country.Although Brazil exports the most Liberica beans, its total production compared to the Philippines and Malaysia remains lower. Additionally, Liberica makes up a small portion of Brazil's overall coffee output. Excelsa What's particularly intriguing about Excelsa is its naturally lower caffeine content, hovering around 40% of what you'd find in a regular cup of Arabica coffee, even less than a Robusta. This makes it a perfect choice for those seeking a smoother, less jittery coffee experience. Plus, its unique flavor profile shines through whether roasted light or dark, offering a versatile pick for adventurous coffee lovers. So, if you're ready to ditch the ordinary and explore the hidden gems of the coffee world, Excelsa awaits!
Tumblr media
Excelsa Beans Based on available information, the Philippines and Vietnam are the two top producers of Excelsa coffee beans in the world. Excelsa gained popularity among Filipino farmers due to its pest resistance and unique flavor profile. Nevertheless, Excelsa remains a niche coffee globally.Step aside, Arabica, Robusta and Liberica! Excelsa coffee beans offer a flavor adventure unlike any other. These small, round gems, often hailing from Southeast Asia, pack a punch in terms of the taste. Forget your typical coffee profile - Excelsa leans into the unique, boasting vibrant acidity, fruity notes reminiscent of blackcurrant and grapefruit, and even a touch of earthiness that reflects its natural origins. Some describe its aroma as subtly woody, hinting at its complex depth. Catimor Born from a blend of tradition and resilience, Catimor coffee beans are a unique player in the global coffee scene. This hybrid, marrying the disease resistance of Robusta with the aromatic complexity of Arabica, thrives in diverse environments like Vietnam, India, and Indonesia. Known for its compact stature and bountiful yields, Catimor has secured its place as a vital crop for many farmers.
Tumblr media
Catimor Beans Flavor-wise, Catimor offers a captivating journey. Expect a balanced and sweet cup, often marked by citrusy notes like orange and lime, mingling with hints of spice like cinnamon and nutmeg. Depending on the origin and roast, chocolatey undertones or a touch of floral aroma might emerge. Whether enjoyed as a bright filter coffee or a rich espresso, Catimor promises a satisfying and distinct experience. So, next time you seek a coffee beyond the ordinary, consider Catimor - a testament to both innovation and the diverse landscape of coffee flavors. With limited data available, Vietnam is widely considered the country that produces the most Catimor coffee beans. Catimor was introduced to Vietnam in the 1980s and quickly gained popularity due to its resistance to leaf rust, a major threat to coffee trees. Due to its high yield and disease resistance, Catimor plays a crucial role in the Vietnamese coffee industry, influencing the overall quality and economic impact of the sector. Countries like India and Indonesia are also cultivating Catimor, contributing to its global availability. Conclusion While Arabica reigns supreme with its smooth complexity and Robusta offers its bold kick, a world of exciting flavors awaits. Liberica, the giant bean, enthralls with smoky-floral notes, while Excelsa, the high-altitude gem, tantalizes with bursts of blackcurrant and grapefruit. Don't miss Catimor, the resilient hybrid, offering a balanced dance of citrus and spice. Each bean, a distinct journey for your palate, whispers tales of unique origins and passionate cultivation. Venture beyond the familiar and embark on a global coffee odyssey. So, ditch the routine, embrace the diversity, and savor the world's top coffee beans – one delicious cup at a time. Citrus Extracts Market Unwrapped: A Tangy Journey through Numbers
Greetings, citrus enthusiasts! Today, we’re peeling back the layers of the global citrus extracts market — no frills, no rollercoaster analogies. Grab your shades, and let’s delve into the juicy details without any unnecessary AI-generated dance moves.
Tumblr media
The Tangy Numbers:
The citrus extracts market is no small player, boasting a juicy value of USD 7.26 billion in 2021, poised to skyrocket to a staggering USD 10.59 billion by 2030, with a growth rate of 4.3%. But hey, who’s counting?
Why the Citrus Hype?
People are catching on to the fact that citrus extracts, from oranges to lemons and beyond, are packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and all the good stuff. As the world embraces natural and plant-based goodies, citrus extracts are having their moment in the sun (pun intended).
Market Flavors and Aromas:
Orange extracts take the lead at USD 10.025 billion, while lemon extracts are the rising stars, growing faster than a lemon slice squirting into your eye. Grapefruit extracts are not far behind, adding their unique flavor to the citrusy fiesta.
Segments, Segments Everywhere:
The market is sliced and diced into types (orange, lemon, etc.), functionality (flavoring, coloring, etc.), and applications (food, pharmaceuticals, etc.). It’s like a citrus salad of options!
Regional Citrus Showdown:
North America has been hogging the citrus limelight, thanks to health-conscious folks and a well-established food scene. Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific is catching up, fueled by rising incomes and a thirst for healthier options. Get ready for a citrus showdown!
Peeling Back the Layers:
Why is the market going bananas over citrus extracts? Consumers are getting woke about health and wellness, and citrus extracts fit the bill. But hold your orange peel; there’s a catch. Fluctuations in citrus crops and supply chain woes are playing the spoilsport. Mother Nature, always the party crasher!
Citrus Superstars — The Players:
Now, let’s talk about the rockstars behind the scenes. Frutarom, Symrise, Kerry Group — these aren’t the latest boy bands; they’re the big shots in the citrus extracts game. They’re on a mission to flavorize the world, one citrus extract at a time.
The Tangy Trends:
Clean labels are in, and consumers want their products au naturel. Citrus extracts are riding the wave, giving that natural and flavorful kick. And hey, forget just orange and lemon — the trendsetters are experimenting with exotic citrus profiles. It’s a flavor adventure out there!
Conclusion:
There you have it, a tangy trip through the global citrus extracts market. It’s not just about numbers; it’s about the zest, the aroma, and the juicy goodness that citrus extracts bring to our tables and products. As the market continues to squeeze out innovations, we’ll be here, sipping our citrus-infused drinks, enjoying the flavor revolution. Stay zesty!

Squeezing the Juice: A Tangy Dive into the Global Citrus Extracts Market
Hey there, citrus enthusiasts and flavor fanatics! Today, we’re diving into the juicy world of the global citrus extracts market. Forget the corporate jargon; we’re here to unravel the zestiness behind the numbers, without any fancy AI-powered dance moves. So, grab your virtual sunglasses, and let’s squeeze out the details!
Tumblr media
The Tangy Numbers:
The citrus extracts market is no small fry, with a juicy size of USD 7.26 billion in 2021, set to grow to a whopping USD 10.59 billion by 2030. That’s a growth rate of 4.3%, but who’s counting, right?
Why the Citrus Hype?
Turns out, people are catching onto the fact that citrus extracts, from oranges to lemons and beyond, are packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and all the good stuff. As the world goes gaga over natural and plant-based goodies, citrus extracts are having their moment in the sun (pun intended).
Market Flavors and Aromas:
Orange extracts are the big shots, strutting their stuff at USD 10.025 billion, while lemon extracts are the rising stars, grooving at a growth rate faster than a lemon slice squirting into your eye.
Well, consumers are getting woke about health and wellness, and citrus extracts fit the bill. But, hold your orange peel, there’s a catch.

The Power of Antioxidants: How Fruits Boost Your Immune System
In search of a strong immune system, nature provides a treasure trove of antioxidants in the form of fruits. From bright berries to tangy citrus to simple apples, these powerful nutrients play an important role in strengthening our bodies' defense mechanisms. In this blog, we look at the science behind antioxidants, how they boost immunity, and which fruits you should include in your diet to reap their benefits with Farzana Food Items Wholesale Distributor UAE
Understanding Antioxidants:
Antioxidants are compounds that help neutralize harmful molecules called free radicals. Free radicals can damage cells and cause a variety of health problems, including a weakened immune system. Fruits are rich in antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, flavonoids, carotenoids, and polyphenols, each with their own protective properties.
Berries: A natural gemstone with Antioxidant properties
Berries such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries are rich in antioxidants, especially flavonoids such as anthocyanins. These compounds not only give the berry a bright color, but also contribute to its immunity-boosting properties. Research shows that regularly consuming berries reduces the risk of infection and inflammation, thereby supporting overall immune function.
Citrus fruits: a source of vitamin C
When it comes to immune health, citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, grapefruit, and limes are known for their high vitamin C content. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that stimulates the production of white blood cells, the  immune system's main defenders. Including citrus fruits in your diet improves your body's ability to fight  infections and viruses, especially during cold and flu season.
Apples: A crunchy source of immune system support
The old saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" has a lot of meaning, thanks to  this humble fruit's immune-boosting properties. Apples are rich in antioxidants such as quercetin and catechin, which have anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. Additionally, the soluble fiber found in apples promotes a healthy gut microbiome, further strengthening immune function. Do not forget to bite into a crispy apple to strengthen the body's defenses. Incorporate immunity-boosting fruits into your diet.
Now that we've highlighted the immune-boosting benefits of berries, citrus fruits, and apples, let's discuss practical ways to incorporate them into your daily diet.
Start your day with a nutritious smoothie blended with berries, citrus, spinach, and Greek yogurt.
Eat a handful of fresh berries or sliced apples and nuts for a filling, nutritious midday pick-me-up.
Add citrus pieces to salads, marinades, or homemade dressings to add flavor and immune support to your meals.
Enjoy apples on their own as a crunchy snack, or pair them with nut butter for a delicious and filling treat.
Incorporating antioxidant-rich fruits into your diet is a simple but effective way to boost your immune system and protect your health. Whether you eat a handful of berries, drink freshly squeezed citrus juice, or bite into a crunchy apple, each bite brings you one step closer to optimal immune function. Use nature's bounty to fight disease and harness the power of antioxidants to live a healthier, happier life.
