Fueling those café au’s in my head... Part 2!
This time let’s look at what baked goods they would enjoy. 🏼 (based on what I offer in shop & some new ideas!)
Part One: Drinkies!
Hitoshi S.
Will buy the cute seasonal sugar cookies, especially the cat themed ones during the spring & fall. Otherwise a blueberry muffin will suffice. If he’s really hungry a baked cheese & plant “sausage” turnover.
Denki K.
Frosted muffins, loaves & scones. The frosted matcha & vanilla crème Swiss roll is a favorite of his. But the frosted strawberry scone is a good second choice. Will be the one to order a breakfast bagel when super hungry.
Katsuki B.
He enjoys spice over sweet that much is true. He’s not one to order baked goods often, but there’s a hatch chili bread released during the later fall season that he will buy a slice or two of. If not, a savory maple sausage pull-apart roll every once in a while never hurt.
Izuku M.
Flaky pastries!! Always always. Chocolate croissant? Yes. Spinach feta croissant? Also yes. Spiced ham & pepper Jack cheese blossom? … yes. Quiches with buttery crust. Biggest yes. It’s used in so many dishes and so yummy in his opinion.
Shoto T.
Plain/simple flaky pastry or biscuit. Usually something to go along with his tea. There’s an orange blossom and currant biscotti that he’s grown fond of thanks to midoriya’s suggestion. Will have some quiche if offered. Not the meat heavy ones though.
Eijirou K.
Sweet boy loves some sweet loaf slices. He will indulge in pumpkin spice during the season. Otherwise the spiced loaf or apple crumble loaf are great choices. Will get the warm breakfast sandwiches on fresh bread.
Hanta S.
Contrast to his drinks and similar to bakugo, Sero likes the more savory pastries. The rosemary & tomato tart is the perfect snack. While the chili, egg & spinach blossom is a good breakfast option in his eyes.
Tenya I.
Cinnamon roll, no raisins but yes to cream cheese icing. Only once in a blue moon though. He allows himself to enjoy this with his classmates. Otherwise a buttery croissant will do, there’s no need for the excess sugar all the time.
Dabi
Again this mf doesn’t go to coffee shops… Will take warm bread, he likes the softness of it when it’s freshly baked. The topped toast options are usually what he goes for. The special spices Ogura jam with everything bagel seasoning is a go to.
Hawks
Learned to like the Ogura jam pastries because of Dabi. Will get the baked Ogura & sea salt stuffed rolls. There’s also a seaweed flakes croissant he enjoys with a sweet plum jam.
Mirio T.
Loves to try just the most American sounding baked goods. Apple strudel with cinnamon, strawberry & rhuebarb blossoms, Canadian bacon and cheddar boomerang? All yeses! Tamaki has told him countless times that two of those things are decidedly not American but Mirio is too busy ordering to hear him.
Tamaki A.
Is less shy when it comes to ordering pastries from his favorite bakery. Enjoys trying the new seasonal items. The sweet Sakura dango was a big hit with him. Will also get the milk bread toasted with a semi-runny egg & chives on top.
Shota A.
A bagel. He enjoys trying to different toppings but prefers having something easy to eat between classes and napping. Open to trying different kinds of bagels as well. Hizashi once bought him a breakfast bar and he enjoyed it. Still gets bagels though.
Hizashi Y.
Much like Tamaki, Hizashi likes trying the seasonal pastries. It only makes sense if he’s trying the seasonal drinks too! It’s the full experience. The toasted coconut & pineapple loaf was a surprising new favorite. So was the miso & cucumber tea sandwich.
*based on my view of them & their personalities*
Might do this for JJK or another fandom next. This has also given me new ideas for some trial goods in the bakery next week…

DRIES VAN NOTEN WOMENS AW24-25
view collection here.
the collections descriptions: “Composed layers, seemingly spontaneous and deliberated. Alternation between precious and pragmatic: creased, cushiony and fluffy.” // “She embraces the comfort of contradictions, her femininity at once tender and strong. Exudes an ineffable mystique: discreet yet audacious. Signals calm as well as boldness. Every duality brings us deeper into her desires.”
my overall rating: 7.7/10
i did thoroughly enjoy this collection. i think it did exactly what it was supposed to. it’s very simplistic but also different from some other collections i’ve watched recently. i loved most of the styling decisions, the colors (they reminded me of the potterville collection's colors), the fabric choices (for the most part!).
(click keep reading for all images i included!)
♱ ───────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───────────── ♱
Pieces I LOVED
there’s just something cunty about the trench coat styling that i cant quite explain. it's so nice. sweater + dress combo looking so yummy.
the blue sweater is giving xmas tree tinsel and i LOVE it. eating down.
the back of the pink dress is so pretty!!! i think this is the only dress with this particular asymmetrical construction that i found flattering. also this jacket ATE down. it gave everything it needed to.
♱ ───────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───────────── ♱
Pieces that were nice
the purple jacket and sleeves, i'm not obsessed with, and i find the fit/silhouette to be a bit big. but otherwise, it's nice. that printed suit!! gorgeous. borderline obsessed with it.
this trench coat is a beautiful pastel neon yellow!! the color is really what sells it for me. and the orange puffer jacket is so nice. i love this sleeve length and the panelling. and the sheen on it is really pretty.
♱ ───────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───────────── ♱
Pieces i feel missed the mark (imo)
all of this is just a big NO! between styling decisions and the choices of fabric combos... i'm absolutely losing my mind.
this is where the xmas tinsel lost me entirely, on the suits i was like, "oh whatever... not super in love but it's not bad." this is bad. pants are gorgeous tho. moving on to this hideous skirt situation.. styling not giving. also, this model, i hate to say it, was the only one i thought walked badly (just in comparison to everyone else and the vibes, nothing against them!!). again, moving on, i'm personally really over these rounded shoulders so it's really nothing against DVN per say, the color combo however... i find it terrible. and the shoeeesss nooooo!
i think this coat is beautiful. it's really the lower half that's KILLING me. the shoes... and jorts... my body had a visceral reaction to seeing this.
♱ ───────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───────────── ♱
moving into my thoughts while watching:
off rip, the shoes in this collection are BEAUTIFUL. they’re really sleek and edgy which, ugh, i love. deffo would love to own a pair of these!!!
also the giant fluffy, pillow bags!! ahh!! they kinda remind me of the bottega veneta w24 ones, i might be mixing them up with another brand tho. but i love these very oversized bags. even if they arent necessarily convenient to wear.
so far loving the contrasting fabrics and the styling of the pieces. the color palette is also gorgeous. very much giving european baddie socialite! the fit and construction omg im going to combust. it’s so nicely made, the silhouette’s are genuinely to die for.
THERES FURS OMG IM GOING TO PUKE. the first pink fur i was okay wont freak out tyfkhrgkysfgrk BUT this beige/sand colored one is so pretty, i’d giving every organ in my body for a collection of beautiful furs.
saw the first piece that i didn’t like and it was just the draping/bundling of the fabric. not pleasing to my eyes. however, the fabric choices of this collection, from what i’m seeing so far, are really nice. i’m gonna go look at individual pieces and look at the material composition and stuff.
found a love hate piece ahhh, feeling conflicted bc it’s hideous and there’s deffo no fixing it, but i also like elements of it?? on another note, i really enjoy the styling of a lot of these pieces. it’s very thoughtful. i love the sleeve of the shirts and how they peek out from the sleeves of the sweaters/knitwear. end of the collection is losing me just a lil bit!! not liking these combos at all.
casting: 7.5/10 the casting for this show is sooo good. i don’t recognize any of the models but they have such nice walks. i haven't seen anyone that i’m like “totally different vibe”, like everyone is on the same page and i really love that for them. just as i said that… found the one who had to mess it up. also her outfit is ugly... sigh.
venue: 1.5/5 its fine

Stowaways - G.W.
Stowaways- George Weasley x Fem!Reader (former Gryffindor)
Warnings: none! just tooth-rotting George fluff :)
Word Count: 5.7k
A/N: Sorry this took so long! This is my longest fic to date, and I’m so proud of it. I love Georgie so I’m glad to finally write for him. Hope you guys enjoy this one <3
Just a reminder: Y/N is Your Name and flashbacks/thoughts are in italics.
93 Diagon Alley is a place of wonder, mystique, and above all else, joy. A place where all your best memories are enshrined, a place where you can be your best self, alongside your doting fiery-haired boyfriend, who wears his ginger mop of hair like a halo. Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes occupies most of the address, its orange and purple exterior lightening up Diagon Alley effortlessly.
Its interior is just as magical, the multiple levels of the shop are engulfed with shelves stocked full of Fred and George’s mischievously ingenious products. Some threatened to transfigure you into an eye-popping xanthic canary, while others could spontaneously spawn a whole swamp in the blink of an eye.
Everything within its walls brings smiles to children of all ages, and it could be argued that George is still one of those kids too.
The store seems to make George truly come alive, even more than he was at Hogwarts just a year prior. The look in his eyes as he skillfully operates the store with Fred reminds you of the glow that your face used to hold as a child as you looked longingly through countless toy-store windows around December.
While the shop is the main source of his pride and joy, even its power couldn’t halt the toll of a busy workweek. Every day, new shipments had been zooming in and out of the store, sales at an all-time high. The new lot of Hogwarts students must have a mischievous streak, for student-sent owl orders in preparation for the school year were arriving daily by the barrel-load.
It was finally Friday evening, and George trudged up the back stairs to the flat, his eyelids droopy and back hunched. His lack of energy, however, couldn’t take away from the playfully handsome purple and brown ensemble he wore. He pitifully fiddled with the keys before finally turning the lock, entering the flat promptly, taking in the familiar home-y aroma.
He promptly plopped down at the small breakfast table near the kitchen, a tired sigh escaping his lips. He pressed his elbow onto the surface of the table, his arm supporting the weight of his head that his neck couldn’t bear any longer.
“How was your day? You look absolutely exhausted,” you asked with concern. You already knew you would have to plan something to cheer poor George up.
“I am simply dying, Y/N,” he said, while pretending to go limp like a corpse, “there’s no hope for me. Tell Mum and Ginny I love ‘em.”
“Not even your own twin brother, huh?” you asked sarcastically. He could only respond with a zombie-esque groan.
You sarcastically rolled your eyes at his dramatic display, glad to see his lack of energy didn’t affect his sense of humor. You walked over to your tired George, who had his head now resting on the back of his chair, eyes spaced out at the ceiling.
You calmly sat down next to the Titian-haired love of your life and laid your head on his strong shoulder, your arm slowly snaking up his back. The motion of your hand alternated between tracing soothing circles lightly on his strained back muscles and massaging his tense shoulder.
He turned his face to you, painted with a soft and grateful grin, glad to finally be home, especially with you. For a few serene minutes, comfortable silence filled the air.
George had nearly drifted off before the both of you were disrupted by his stomach emitting a loud growl. “I take it you’re hungry, Georgie?”
“Apparently so,” your boyfriend responded, patting his stomach.
He languidly started undoing his bright amaranthine purple tie when you asked, “Do you want icky leftovers or yummy takeout? I know what I’m voting for.”
“Such a tough decision…” George responded with a wink.
----
By the time dinner was over, the tired look in George’s eyes remained, but the delicious takeout helped remedy his splitting headache.
The two of you quickly settled on the comfortable marmalade-hued couch to watch one of your favorite muggle movies (it was a comedy of course). George’s laugh never ceased to make your heart flutter, even after all these years. The way it used to echo so freely through the crimson Gryffindor common room, and now through you two’s cozy flat, couldn’t help but make you fall even more madly in love with him.
George somehow brought out the kid in you that laid dormant for so many years. With him, the world seemed so vibrant; there was always a little adventure waiting for you both, even in mundane activities like laundry. He would bunch up the freshly-washed paisley and tessellated dress shirts that he wore down to the shop daily, pelting them at you like the snowballs that he enchanted to hit Quirrell all the way back in third year.
You loved George with all your heart, as did he.
After a while of movie-watching, George drifted off into a light sleep. His hazy dream was filled with thoughts of the school he called home for so long. The smell of the burning logs and pumpkin that would drift through his nostrils every morning as he walked down the steps from his dorm; the sound of first years’ giggles as they messed with one of his pranks.
His brain then swam through the blurry memories to the first time he met you, the real you, drinking Firewhiskey and playing truth or dare in the back of the common room with the Golden Trio and crew after a victorious Quidditch game.
He thought of your first date, your face scrunched with belly-aching laughter as you tried stuffing in as many sweets as you could on a snowy Saturday at Honeydukes. The way the twisted rainbow lollipops and chocolate frogs made your face uncontrollably grin cemented what he swore the moment he first saw you: he vowed to never stop making you smile.
He couldn’t live a day without your joy-filled face; it enchanted him like the beautiful glow of fireworks against a smokey black sky, like the addicting feeling of adrenaline from breaking the rules.
----
“Georgie,” you whispered, “Georgie!”
Your drowsy boyfriend slowly drifted back to reality after hearing your soft whisper, your hands lightly tapping his chest to an invisible rhythm.
He released a yawn before asking, “What is it, angel?” His eyes fluttered lazily, and his lips were quirked to the smallest of smiles.
“I just wanted to make sure you didn’t fall asleep on the couch for the night,” you said caringly, “I knew you’d be even sorer in the morning if you did.”
George’s heart warmed at your thoughtfulness. He quickly took in his surroundings, which starkly contrasted his dreamscape. The television softly droning cheap infomercials instead of the muggle movie he fell asleep to, the blinds closed to hide the velvety black sky, and bits of buttery popcorn strewn across his chest and lap.
He sat up tiredly, swiping his hand carelessly through his vermillion-pigmented locks. He rubbed his umber eyes as you brushed loose kernels from his clothes to the carpet.
George muttered, “I love you, Y/N,” quietly, thinking you wouldn’t be able to hear it.
You did, however, and you reciprocated an “I love you, too” sweetly. You stood up from the couch, extending your hand to help droopy-eyed George up. He took your hand and he rose before walking towards the kitchen, drawn to the stark blue light of the refrigerator.
The fridge doors popped open, revealing tupperware full of picked-at leftovers, a few odds and ends, and a half-drank bottle of Dragon Barrel Brandy. He groaned at the meager scraps of food occupying the fridge, shutting the door disappointedly. The crisp air that surrounded him with a chill dissipated within an instant.
“Georgie, I think we should go off to bed. Tomorrow's Saturday, and I have a big surprise for you planned,” you said excitedly, coming up behind the man of your dreams, resting your hand steadily on his shoulder. He leaned into your touch as you guided the sleepy boy to the bedroom.
As the two of you laid down to go to sleep, facing one another, George asked in a tired, raspy voice, “What’s the surprise, darling? Or will I have to find out tomorrow?”
“You know I would never spoil a surprise. Don’t worry, you’ll love it.”
----
George awoke to the delectable scent of freshly-fried bacon and eggs wafting from the humble kitchen. The other half of the bed, he noticed, lay empty, the cozy handmade quilt blanket you usually dozed under laying askew. Sunlight poured through the windows, letting his linen covered body bask in golden morning rays.
After minutes of continuing to peacefully lay under the covers, absorbing the pure morning ambiance, George finally decided to get up and follow the delicious aromas emitting from the kitchen like a bloodhound.
As he entered, you were bent over the stove, guiding a spatula around in a lightly tarnished pan, appetizing pancakes browning within. You were still in your sleepwear, wearing oversized plaid pants that dragged across the tile and one of George’s shirts, which was huge on you and smelled strongly of his cologne.
He snuck up behind you quietly as a mouse, before unexpectedly poking the sides of your stomach. You let out a shocked, “George!” before bursting into laughter. Your chuckles blended with his effortlessly, creating a beautiful symphony.
“Morning, darling. I see you’re making breakfast,” George said with a smirk as he surveyed the surrounding food-covered counters. He seemed in a much better state than he was yesterday, his tired eyes replaced with resplendent brown and gold-speckled ones, which were flooded full of energy reminiscent of his adolescence.
“I am! And I made all your favorites, so get excited! The day’s only getting started.” You sent him a knowing wink, and he responded with a child-like grin. George giddily opened a cupboard, grabbing two shiny ceramic plates. He forked some already-cooked bacon and eggs onto each plate, shaping the food into two adorable smiley faces.
“What did I ever do to deserve such an amazing girlfriend like you?” George asked after giving your cheek an affectionate peck.
“The real question is, what didn’t you do? You’re perfect in my eyes, Georgie,” you heartfeltly admitted as you carried a small plate stacked with butter and syrup-coated warm pancakes coated to the table.
George had beaten you to the breakfast table, waiting patiently until you finally sat down in the chair to his side. He eagerly stabbed a forkful of egg, stuffing it into his mouth. While Ron was usually credited as the biggest food-lover of the Weasleys, there was no way you could deny that George was runner up.
He gulped down the rest of the meal quickly, sending breakfast-filled smiles in your direction after every bite. After both of your plates were squeaky-clean, you ventured to the bedroom to get ready for the busy day ahead of you.
You instructed George to wear “something comfortable,” and he happily complied, throwing on a cream-colored, pin-striped short-sleeve oxford with a pair of worn jeans. You selected something equally as comfortable, and adorable.
You were in the middle of packing a backpack full of snacks and water when George finally asked, “So… when do I get to know where we’re going?”
“We’re going to Hogwarts,” you said promptly with a knowing smile, greatly contrasting George’s look of perplexion.
“And how exactly are we going to manage that, love? Surely they wouldn’t allow an impromptu visit like this, even good ol’ McGonagall?”
“Well, let’s just say Hogwarts doesn’t actually know we’ll be there.”
----
Platform 9 ¾ could be seen bustling with life, the delicious taste of magic floating through the air. It sent you back to all of those years you spent before term, pushing a luggage-stacked trolley across the station.
The scarlet express heaved tufts of smoke from its chimney, a piercing shriek occasionally echoing from its whistle. The magical platform was coated with clumps of young witches and wizards and their parents; the brick floor could barely be seen under all the boots.
You bid goodbye to your parents, ready to start a new (magical) chapter of your life. As you skipped gleefully to the entrance of the enchanted coach, you caught sight of a rufescent sea of wizards bickering and chuckling with each other. There were six carrot-topped wizards in total: a middle-aged and balding father, an equally middle-aged warm and caring mother, a short and freckle-ridden son who appeared to be the oldest, a tall and stuck-up boy with pretentious-looking glasses who was tightening the crimson tie around his neck, and two identical-looking boys who seemed to be first years as well.
One of them could be seen tieing the stuck-up boy’s shoelaces together, a mischievous smirk on his face as he did. The other was distracting the glasses-wearing brother, shooting the knotter an occasional sneaky glance.
You smiled at the sight before stepping into the train, eager to make new friends. You felt a little less nervous upon seeing students chatting in their compartments; pure joy from students’ laughing and yelling filled the corridor.
You looked around in search of a promising compartment. Finally, after what felt like hours of looking, you settled on a compartment filled with three other first-years. There were two girls and a boy: one of the girls, Angelina, was animatedly recounting a story, the other, Alicia, sprinkled in witty comments, and a smitten-looking boy named Lee was blushing in the corner, listening intently.
After a while of bonding with your new friends, the train slowly began to chug along the tracks, rhythmic clanking creating some pleasant background ambiance. The train began to gain speed before your compartment door was slid open by none other than the vexatious redheaded twins.
The twin who tied his brother’s shoelaces together, who you later learned was named Fred, confidently took a seat next to Lee. They quickly struck up a conversation, seemingly clicking almost instantly. The twin who served as the distraction for his poor older brother, George, sat down next to you timidly.
At first, George was too shy to say anything other than a meek, “hello”, but as soon as the trolley stacked with sweets rolled around, he became quite talkative. He was very observant; he would enchant you with beautiful descriptions of the most minute details in the most mundane things.
George was so observant, in fact, that he noticed you didn’t get anything from the trolley, despite the look on your face saying that it wasn’t by choice. He could only afford a single chocolate frog with the spare change his mother gave him, which he handed to you with a toothy grin.
You yanked on George’s long arm, pulling him behind one of the large brick pillars supporting the platform. “Okay, George, for this to work, we can’t be seen by anyone.” You unsheathed your wand from your pocket, preparing to cast a spell.
“I’m going to cast a disillusionment charm, okay? This should make us blend in with our surroundings so we can sneak onto the train. If I do it correctly, we should be able to see each other just fine, though.”
After receiving an accepting nod from George, you gave him a light tap on the shoulder with the tip of your wand. Camouflage slowly dripped down his body, as if someone poured some sort of invisibility paint above his head. Just as quickly as he faded into the pillar behind him, he returned back to normal colors. You hoped he was still invisible to everyone else.
“Wicked,” he uttered, checking out his arms as they turned invisible and back.
You did the same to yourself without hesitation. George watched with curiosity as you blended seamlessly into the platform; he then admired you as your features slowly returned from invisibility. Every eyelash, every blemish, and every inch of your lips never failed to go unnoticed by him.
“What’s the next step of the plan, Captain?” George asked with a salute.
“So, without being seen, once all the students are off the platform and on the train, we need to sneak onto the caboose, where we should be able to ride safely. After that, it’s smooth sailing to Hogwarts!”
“That sounds easy enough… I think,” George said with his hand in his palm, thinking over the steps of the plan intently.
“Oh trust me, it’ll be great! I mean, if you can set off fireworks during an exam guarded by Umbridge, you can sneak onto a bloody train.” You gave George a reassuring thumbs-up.
“Don’t even remind me of that soul-sucking bright pink nightmare!” George said with a sarcastic eye roll.
As students slowly started filtering into the train, your time to strike inched closer and closer. Finally, the clock struck eleven, and you and George were dashing across the platform to the back of the train with your hands intertwined with one another’s.
You and George leaped onto the back ledge of the train just in time, for the scarlet locomotive slowly started rolling along the tracks just as you latched onto the railing. The both of you broke into cheers of triumph the moment the train was out of the vicinity of the station.
“Y/N, look at the window, there’s no reflection of us in it. We really are undetectable,” George mentioned, gesturing towards the window.
It was unsettling to not see your usual features bouncing off the window, but you were thankful that your charm had worked.
You moved to sit on the ledge of the train, which was small, only about a foot wide. You put your legs through the wide rails so that the soles of your sneakers nearly dragged on the tracks. George took a seat next to you, his lanky legs sitting crisscross.
The scenery that the express heaved through was breathtaking; it was even better feeling the crisp air on your face. The rolling moss-tinted hills, vibrant green and yellow trees that dotted the horizon, and worn stone archways that cut through the landscape allowing the train to huff on. All of it reminded you of the impressionist paintings in museums.
The sunlight bashfully peeked through the clouds like the small flashes of vibrant strawberries hiding under their large green leaves on a serene spring day. The air tasted sweet and refreshing; it felt like you hadn’t ever breathed until your lungs were filled with it.
You and George sat peacefully in silence, listening to the noises of the express and the faint chirping of birds, reflecting on the past. Eventually, he said softly, gaze pointed to the scenery, “I can still remember the moment I realized I was in love with you.”
He continued, “It was the start of fifth year, on this very train. The moment you sat down in the compartment next to me, I just knew. Everything was different. There were so many things I never noticed until then; it was like my eyes were finally open.”
Silence filled the air. You couldn’t think of what to say, and even if you did, you wouldn’t know how to say it.
“Everything about you looked so beautiful all of a sudden. The way you moved or swished your wand, the way your lips enunciated every heavenly word that fell from your tongue. All of it.”
George turned to you nervously. What if I messed it all up? What if that wasn’t the right thing to say? he thought. You stared down at the track, lost in the depths of your mind.
Everything George had ever spoken to you danced through your brain like ballet; his words sounded like rich and eloquent poetry, even his simple cheers or quips at teachers. Your heart felt like it was beating a million times the speed of the chugging crimson engine.
You rapidly pivoted your head to him, his uncertain gaze immediately locking deeply with yours’. Your eyes were clouded with determination and passion, which reflected in the kiss that you swiftly pulled him into. His lips felt magical against yours’, still oozing with lively youthfulness as always.
George tenderly tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear, you wrapped one of your hands around the nape of his neck. The kiss softened, becoming something slow and loving. Your other hand intertwined delicately with his’, which lay softly on your thigh.
After a while of sugary sweet kissing, George’s lips parted, uttering an “I love you,” lightly.
“I love you, too. Promise me you’ll marry me someday?” You asked, still heavily under the angelic ginger’s trance.
“You know I couldn’t marry anyone but you, Y/N.”
----
The sun slowly retreated behind the horizon, painting the sky a brilliant and fiery orange, which nearly matched the hue of George’s wind-swept hair. You languidly rested your head on his broad shoulder, staring out in the distance. Your face lingered with euphoria, courtesy of George’s amazing kisses which had just peppered every inch of it.
The backpack stocked with snacks you perfectly packed was now filled only with empty food wrappers. Most of the various foodstuffs had found a new home safely in your boyfriend’s black hole of a stomach, leaving you with mere crumbs to chew.
“Georgie… why’d you have to eat all the snacks? I’m starving,” you asked dramatically, pretending to be skin-and-bones.
“I’m sorry I didn’t save enough for you, darling. I would give you some but… y’know… they’re in my stomach.” George petted your hair caringly with a regretful smile, his strong fingers gently brushing through your strands, taking in the familiar scent of your shampoo.
As you sat, gaze towards the breathtaking sunset, George mechanically started braiding a small section of your hair. He had always been an expert at braids; Ginny taught him how to fourth year. His mind was elsewhere than your strands, however, for he was plotting something significantly more mischievous.
George retracted his hands from your hair, the soothing touch of his fingers dissipating from your scalp. He stood up from the cozy spot beside you, turning to peer through the window of the coach. His eyes scanned the corridor like a hawk, his brain spindling abstract ideas into a devious plan reminiscent of the schemes he so often plotted back at Hogwarts.
“Georgie, what are you doing?” you asked quizzically.
After one final glance through the coach window (bearing no reflection), he said with a devilishly handsome and mischievous smirk, “I have a plan.”
Before you could interrogate him any further, in one calculated motion, he swung the emergency door open, leaping inside the train full of students.
If anyone was skilled enough to pull off whatever he was set on doing, it was George. While Fred was often the instigator of the twins’ famous pranks, George was often pulling the weight of the trick.
You just hoped the disillusionment charm hadn’t worn off yet.
----
George silently crept through the corridors of each enchanted coach, elaborately dancing around stray students who occasionally ditched their compartments. His face was scrunched with determination as if he were a raider searching for the holy grail.
It took all his self-control, and more, to resist sneaking into Malfoy’s compartment and giving him a slap across the head; it was even harder resisting giving Ron a friendly spook, along with the other members of the Golden Trio. He decided to stay on track of his mission, for you and you only.
Every coach he passed through, he became increasingly more irritated and nervous. Now that he was an adult, there wouldn’t just be a simple ten points deducted from Gryffindor, no. Sneaking onto a train full of students and stealing candy from the poor old lady’s trolley of sweets would be a hefty fine. Molly would definitely not be pleased.
Finally, in the coach closest to the engine (and unfortunately furthest from the back), laid the trolley, luckily unattended. It was practically overflowing with classic sweets that he used to enjoy so much: colorful Berties Botts Every Flavour Beans (he swears he got a booger flavored one once), towering stacks of frosted cauldron cakes, clear-as-glass sugar quills, and chocolate frogs.
George, of course, knew your favorite anything and everything like the back of his hand. He swiftly grabbed a package of candy from the bottom rack of the trolley, a twinge of guilt hitting him in the heart. The kind old lady would be down one treat. His guilt was quickly alleviated when magically, another perfectly packaged sweet filled the empty space.
The expedition back to the caboose was a decidedly more risky one; it’s a lot more obvious that someone is invisible when a piece of candy is levitating midair. Luckily, the darker it got outside, the more students opted for the comfort of their cozy compartments, which fostered the perfect environment for sleeping. After all, when he and Fred would pull pranks on the train, this was the hour they’d hit the hardest.
He was nearly to the back coach when a now sixth year Neville Longbottom emerged from his cabin, a defeated look on his face. A harshly conquered game of wizard’s chess could be seen, Luna Lovegood sitting next to the board with a neutral smile resting on her lips.
George had tried to dance around Neville, but Longbottom’s clumsiness was no match for him. Not even a second passed before Neville rammed headfirst into George’s chest, falling backward. He laid on the floor for a minute, dumbfounded, before cautiously getting up, reaching for the floating sweet that George grasped high above his head.
George couldn’t help but mutter a low ‘sorry’ to poor Neville before rapidly darting past him towards the door. Neville looked around suspiciously for a minute longer before accepting the fact that he had likely been the subject of another foul prank.
Finally, unscathed, George returned to the rear of the train, where you lay half sprawled across the ledge sleepily. Your eyes were closed, your ears focused on the calming rhythmic rattling of the wheels on the track.
A small smile couldn’t help but creep onto George’s face at the sight of you asleep. He gently tapped you awake, a soft hum escaping his lips. Your eyes fluttered open, a loving look glazing them.
“What is it, Georgie?” you asked, taking in your surroundings.
“Just wanted to make sure that you didn’t fall asleep here. You’d be sore by the time we get to our destination if you did,” George said with a wink.
He outstretched his hand like Prince Charming, helping you stand up from the floor. Your rubious-haired boyfriend inconspicuously held his other hand behind his back, concealing the candy in his large palm.
“Where did you go, George? One moment you’re out here with me, next moment you’re off into the train packed full of people!” you questioned curiously, inspecting George from head to toe.
“Well, you said you were hungry, so naturally....” he said, “I had to get you something to eat.”
George held out a single chocolate frog in his hand like a proud little kid. He wore the exact same smile he sported first year: a look radiating innocence and kindness. You gingerly accepted the frog, slowly unwrapping the chocolate and stuffing the card in your pocket for Ron.
“...just like first year,” you muttered, barely able to make a sound.
You were seated on the tail of the express once again, eyes pointed towards the inky black and star-blemished sky. George quickly mirrored your actions, comfortably sitting next to you. While you munched on your chocolate frog joyfully, George rested his head on your shoulder, even though he was very much taller than you. He momentarily began humming a lullaby he learned as a baby; the vibrations emitted from his voice box resonated comfortingly through your body.
His angelic humming echoed lovingly through your brain all the way to Hogwarts.
----
The train screeched to a halt at the Hogwarts station behind the school. The soothing rattle of the train ceased, to your dismay, and exuberant students began to flood out of the express like a tidal wave. You and George trailed far behind the various cliques of students, cracking jokes at the expense of the new first years.
“Look at that poor one! He’s fixed to become the new Neville!” you said laughing, before getting a playful elbow from George.
“McGonagall will have quite the handful with those two over there. Reckon they’ll be tricksters like us?” George asked with a nostalgic laugh, pointing at two boys who were sneakily distributing some sort of (surely hexed) candy to their gullible peers. They looked so much like Fred and George did in their first year, down to the very same expression.
“No doubt about it,” you said confidently, darting your eyes comparatively from the boys to your boyfriend. “It really is quite uncanny.”
Soon enough, the towering main entrance to the castle was opened with a swish, and the distinctly familiar smell flooded your nostrils. You were finally home once again. Not much had changed since you left, besides the absence of all of Umbridge’s devious decrees, replaced with some friendly-looking paintings.
“Looks the exact same, doesn’t it?” George whispered, careful to be unnoticed by the excited soon-to-be-sorted first years who were guided to the Great Hall. You nodded yes, clenching his hand harder with exhilaration.
Instead of risking getting caught during the time-honored Sorting Ceremony, you and George walked aimlessly, enjoying the unique ambiance of the school. After a while of galavanting around the halls, you climbed the moving steps towards the Gryffindor tower.
“Open up, it's George,” he whispered to the portrait of the Fat Lady with a smirk, and surprisingly, she obliged with a pleasantly surprised smile. Your stare flickered from George to the portrait, mouth agape.
“Let’s just say, me and the Fat Lady have a lot of… history. Oh, not like that!” George let out a laugh followed by an adorable wink.
You gravitated towards the comfortable crimson couches which sat by the large and inviting fireplace, dragging George’s hand behind you.
Your body melted into the red plush of the couch, the soft material much more desirable than the stiff metal rails of the express. Your carrot-topped better half took a seat next to you, his body intertwining with yours.
Gryffindors threatened to flood into the common room any given moment, so you wasted no time pulling George’s soft shirt to your chest for a gentle and loving kiss.
“Blimey! Get a room you two!” Ron said, walking towards the two of you from the portrait, gagging.
“I guess the charm’s worn off, Georgie.”
“Just in time, too,” he said with a slightly cocky smile.
You turned to Ron, who reluctantly held his arms out for a hug. You ran to him with all your might, meeting the messy-haired ginger’s chest. “I’m so glad to see you again. It’s felt like ages.”
“Glad to see you too, Y/N,” he said with a genuine smile.
Harry and Hermione entered not long after, a matching perplexed expression on their faces. “Y/N? George? How’d you get in here? Surely McGonagall wouldn’t permit a visit such as this?” Hermione asked, giving you a small but confused hug.
“Well, the thing is, no one knows we’re actually here,” George said, a grin on his face.
“How’d you do it? Sneak in here, I mean,” Harry asked, eager to learn a new way to sneak to the school.
“Snuck onto the express. Brilliant idea and execution courtesy of my dear Y/N. She’s a genius in training. Learning from the best, of course,” George said sarcastically, his thumb pointing to his chest.
“Very funny, Georgie. This one was all me. My magnum opus, some would say.”
----
The ensuing night was amazing. Laughter echoed through the cherry-tinted walls of the common room like a magnificent orchestra; classic games like spin the bottle and truth or dare were played religiously.
By the time it struck midnight, your mind had nearly escaped to your hazy dreamscape too many times to count. It had been a long day; you started early with cooking a full breakfast, sneaking onto the Hogwarts Express, and partying for hours into the night with the Gryffindors, all with the love of your life. To say you were exhausted was a massive understatement.
Harry had graciously offered his comfortable bed to you, Ron reluctantly sacrificing his to George. “You owe me one,” he repeatedly grumbled to his older brother, who plastered a sickly innocent smile on in response.
George took quick notice of the unfathomable exhaustion plastered onto your face from his couch across from you, immediately announcing to the chatting group of friends, “I think it’s time for me and Y/N to turn in for the night. See you all in the morning.”
‘Goodnights’ drifted in and out of your ears as George picked you up from the couch bridal-style, carrying you light-as-a feather up the steps to the boys’ dorms. He could envision a furious Head Boy Percy demanding, ‘Put her down, George! Girls sleep in the girls’ dormitories, boys in the boys’! They have that rule for a reason!’
He smiled as he creaked open the sixth year boys’ dorm’s door, laying you peacefully onto Harry’s scarlet four-poster bed. He grabbed some cozy knitted blankets, gently setting them over your body.
“There you are, angel, have a good nights’ sleep. I love you with all my heart,” George cooed. He turned to Ron’s bed with a smile before you grasped his hand desperately.
“Before you go to bed Georgie, did you have fun today? I know you super were stressed out yesterday and all,” your words came out slurred and tired, some borderline incoherent.
“I have fun any time I’m with you, darling,” he said, smoothing your ruffled hair. “But yes, I had the time of my life with you today. Just being with you makes my day infinitely brighter. You’re like my little sunshine.”
“And will you actually marry me someday, Georgie?” you asked, your droopy eyes filled with an unfathomable and everlasting love. You were deep under the heavenly redhead’s spell once again.
“I always keep my word, darling.”

Roommates Part 1
Tags/warnings: Deku x Reader, Deku x Self-insert, Slowburn, SFW, Aged-Up Characters, Roommates AU, Pro Hero Deku, Deku thirst, copious amounts of self indulgence, Deku muscles (ye have be warned! 😂) Other characters to be added in future parts including OCs.
Summary: Riida stumbles upon Deku and his muscles.
A/N: Here we are, the first part of my Deku x Reader/Riida fic. I’m a bit nervous about sharing this so please be gentle LOL. Part 2 is out on my Patreon early if you want to support me there and check it out!
====
There he was in the middle of the shared kitchen and living room space.
"Oh hey," the famous hero named Deku greeted cheerfully. He was doing press ups with arms that were very toned. Very muscular too. And very sweaty. "Don't mind me, just doing my early morning workout," he chirped happily.
And there you were in the doorway. In dishevelled, baggy pjs that made your figure look lumpy, and your hair in disarray like a drawing gone wrong.
"Okay," you quipped and you whipped your stiff legs to the kitchen in order to hide your sorry state.
You couldn't believe it. Two days ago you had moved into this two-room apartment for work, having the whole place to yourself. The landlady had told you that there would be another person coming to rent the other room. You hadn't expected it to be this soon though, much less by the No.1 Hero, of all people.
You wondered if this was a dream. After all this was your favourite hero in the same apartment as you. Somehow you managed to make breakfast and sit down to eat it, focusing entirely on taking big chunks out of your toast instead of the hot sweaty man on the floor grunting in front of you.
“So what’s your name?” asked Deku in the middle of his reps.
You answered him.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Deku," he replied with a smile. "I just moved in last night. I hope I wasn’t too noisy."
Deku got up and announced he was going to take a shower. “I hope we get to know each other over the coming days!” he said brightly before turning to go to his room, leaving a trail of metaphorical sparkles in his wake.
You went to work that morning in a daze.
---
The next morning he was there again, doing sweaty press ups. Only this time he was topless, save for a white towel around his neck.
"Good morning!" he greeted enthusiastically, acting completely at home even though you had only just met yesterday.
"Good morning," you mumbled before scurrying to the kitchen. You felt coffee wouldn't be necessary after that sight. It was one thing to find out you were sharing an apartment with Deku, certainly another to find him half naked in the living room. Was this something you were going to have to get used to? Would you have to face his bare chest and abs every day?
"What you having for breakfast today?" asked Deku, completely unaware of your inner turmoil.
"Uh..." Your mind searched for some meaningful answer. You opened the fridge for inspiration. "Bacon and eggs," you said.
"Sounds yummy!"
Yummy.
The way he said that was so cute and now it was all you could think about as you cooked, ultimately serving as your distraction as you burnt your bacon and eggs, and your toast came out more brown than you would have liked. Even the orange juice you poured ended missing the target completely, landing on the counter instead of in your glass.
You heaved a heavy sigh.
"Everything alright?" Deku piped up like a curious meerkat standing up.
"Everything's fine," you squeaked, scrubbing up your spillage quickly.
“Need a hand?”
Deku’s voice was suddenly a lot closer and you found him leaning against the counter, just inches away. You yelped.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to spook you,” Deku laughed, “but you looked like you were having trouble just now.”
“Oh-- Well-- It’s fine. Everything’s fine. Just one of those mornings, y’know?” You tried to laugh it off even though the proximity of Deku’s pecs was making you nervous.
“Okay. I’ll leave you to it,” said Deku. “But don’t hesitate if you need any help!” He beamed at you before leaving to go to his room.
After he went, you sighed and slumped on the counter in relief. You weren’t sure how many more topless Deku mornings you could handle before you died.
---
"So what's your quirk?"
Deku was moving his arms and turning his body in a very focused manner. He looked like he was doing tai chi. Fortunately he was wearing a hoodie this time to cover up his upper body. Unfortunately his legs were on show, thanks to his shorts, and they were very chiseled and very determined to get you hot under the collar if you stared too long.
"I can see infrared and ultraviolet waves," you answered, sipping your tea too quickly and burning your mouth. You covered your face up so your pained expression wouldn’t be noticed.
"Oh? What does that look like?" Deku asked, interest piqued.
"Well," you said, after you recovered a little, "infrared looks like a reddish glow around things that emit heat. Ultraviolet by itself is like a white-blue or white-violet sort of colour. But it actually makes things look different? It gives more colour and more contrast. If that makes sense."
Deku nodded, making humming noises. "Interesting. Do you use it in your line of work?" He stretched out his leg high in a kicking stance, the shorts riding down to reveal more of his thigh. You took a very deep breath.
"Not really," you answered, trying not to visibly sweat, "I just do a simple office job. It's not a very useful quirk actually. It makes everything look rather overwhelming when I turn it on."
"I see," said Deku, moving into another stance and thankfully putting his leg down. He started rambling about all the ways your quirk could be useful in rescue situations for detecting missing people trapped under rubble or seeing through walls during recon missions. You listened dutifully, gradually pulled into his words.
It was something you genuinely liked about Deku. All his ramblings, though he sometimes got carried away in interviews, made for an interesting listen. They showed just how knowledgeable he was, especially where quirks were concerned. Sometimes he went into very complex things which you didn’t understand but you didn’t mind it at all. It was a joy to listen to him.
“You’re smiling.”
“Huh? Yes?”
“What are you smiling about?” Deku asked, pausing in his stance.
“Oh, nothing! Just… I think it’s nice to hear you being so passionate about your interests,” you answered sheepishly.
Deku chuckled and resumed his movements. “I’m glad. Usually people just get annoyed or look at me funny when I go off on my ramblings."
"Oh. Well. I don't think it's annoying."
Deku gave you a big grin as he said, "That makes me happy to hear! You’re such a nice person. And you have a nice smile, by the way.”
You blushed and thanked him. You were sure you would take his compliment to the grave.

eyeball, porcelain, knife, lollipop, potion, witch, ribbon
UWAA KASU BBY TYSM FOR THE ASKS
--
eyeball: some of your favorite filmsWell obviously Monsters, Inc. is my favourite hehe but uh... hmm... I’m not sure what else to really name TBH! I really enjoy a lot of movies but I’m not sure if I can really place any under absolute faves?? I’M SORRY ;; I’m sure if you named films you think I like though I’d definitely be like “YEAH!!”
porcelain: your favorite article of clothingI’m really good at anticipating asks but then not having good answers for them when I do get them smfh, this is why we can’t have nice things. ANYWAY, I don’t think I have a certain article of clothing that I deem my absolute favourite BUT the closest are some of my Killstar dresses. uwu Anything that makes me look like a gothic doll is an absolute fave.
knife: something you're good at cooking or bakingThis is an interesting question because if you know about my life you know my partner is in the culinary field so he does almost ALL the cooking. In contrast, I also really don’t like cooking. I’m too impatient in that regard, HOWEVER, I have a home recipe passed from my mom and modified by me for a really yummy spaghetti sauce :3 I also make really good chili! In my opinion anyway...
lollipop: some of your favorite candyAhhh UMMM EVERYTHING? Ahaha if I’m really trying to narrow it down though... I love any kind of typical candy bar like Kit Kats, Caramilk, (naming the first thing that comes to the top of my head) any other chocolate too, um, I also like candy like rock candy and airheads and cotton candy especially and like HONESTLY ANYTHING.......except for anything with actual coconut in it. I’m not really a fan of bitter things either or very sour things.. er.. does that help narrow it down at least a little? LOL
potion: something you'd change about humanityShit, don’t even get me started. There are a billion things. Naming one off the top of my head though, I’d want to change how inherently greedy humanity is.
witch: a power you wish you hadTHERE ARE A MILLION. Um, flying, teleportation and invisibility are a couple top faves. That’s if we’re talking super powers. As for “regular powers” though.. I wish I was really, really talented in.. well.. any area, really. Sorry for my boring answer oAo;
ribbon: your favorite color combinationsOOH GIRL. So many. I believe that ANY colour combination can work if you really like it. It all depends on the hue! For example some may argue that orange and pink look terrible together, but if you make them pastel or one of them pastel.. then they look nice imo and both colours can look like a sunset together too! Anyway, as for my faves, very obviously I’m biased to purple and black, red and black, and pretty much anything with black LOL but I am also WEAK for purple and mint or purple and green. Brown and pink is really nice, and with soft blues too.. ahh... every combo is awesome pls but honestly purple with anything looks amazing to me lmao

Dear New York City,
You are incredible! I love your busy streets and young energetic crowd. You are simply vibrant of life just how I had imagined you (from the movies, Sex & the City shows, and the songs about you)! So many reasons to have a crush on you so where shall I start?
Butcher’s Daughter
Driving through Chinatown
Ok, here are some of my first impressions of you, NYC:
It is said of you that you are the entire world into one city. Could it be real? You have a platter full of food options! As you are being the hub of internationals and a known place for storied history, you satisfy anyone’s taste bud, I can’t make up my mind. How can I decide between a casual French bistro (Bagatelle, 1 Little West 12th St.), delicious house-made Italian pasta (La Sirena, 88 9th Ave.), Exotic Moroccan (Cafe Mogador, 101 Saint Marks Pl #1), spicy Korean (Kori Tribeca, 253 Church St.), fun cocktails and Mexican food (La Palapa, 77 St Marks Pl.), Barcelona-style tapas (Toro, 85 10th Ave.), German’s pretzels and beer (The Standard Biergarten, 848 Washington St. just outside of the Standard High Line Hotel and I’ll tell more later), Green Juice (Yep that’s also food trust me!) and far more as if I was in the mood for a health conscious Californian style (not just green juice) there is Dime (49 Canal St.). And let’s not omit American sandwiches (Tiny’s & the Bar Upstairs, 135 W Broadway), and comfort food made of shakes, fries and burgers (Bill’s Bar & Burgers, 16 W 51st St.). There is also the Michelin starred Chef Gunter Seeger at Gunter Seerger NY (641 Hudson St.) and for the gluten free folks there is Friedman’s Lunch (75 9th Ave. at the Chelsea Market which I’ll speak more about in this post). Alas, due to my devoted ramen international tour mission, my friend and I set our minds towards Ippudo Ramen (65 Fourth Ave.) as soon as we set our feet on you.
Ippudo NYC
Ippudo Tonkotsu Ramen
Shook off the night away at Le Bain (848 Washington St.), the penthouse club and roof top bar with an outstanding sweeping city and river view located at the Standard High Line hotel. You blew us away! The vibe was electric between the sparkly giant disco ball, the Afro kinetics music, the sweaty dance moves, with the sticky cranberry vodka on my hand. I’ll remember this moment for a while 🙂 Not to mention our pre-game with gin-based drinks at this speakeasy bar Bathtub Gin that is disguised with a front panel as a regular coffee shop. How dare you tricked us!! Fortunately a friendly local had mercy and pointed the place out to us. Piouf don’t you know I have the fear of missing out syndromes!!
Le Bain with a sweeping view of the river and the city
Some cool walls at the Standard High Line
Bathtub Gin is behind the facade of this coffee shop
The Maritime Hotel (363 W 16th St.) is one of your best places to spend the night in my opinion; friendly, quirky (how I personally like it) and cozy. Located right in the center of the Meatpacking District. This 24-hour neighborhood is found on the far west side of Manhattan and is bordered by Chelsea to the north and the West Village towards downtown. It’s a formidable plant for fashion and graphic designers, architects, artists, restaurateurs, stylists and even corporate headquarters. I enjoyed staying at this hotel in that unique style, it has a nautical-themed landmark with the signature view porthole windows and how I love the white and blue tiles at the restaurant bar and the outdoor terraces seemed just perfect for spring time. In the morning a modest continental breakfast was served at the hotel restaurant so I grabbed myself a quick bite of the bagel with some flavorful orange spread, a mini pain au chocolat, a hard boiled egg, a cup of black coffee and a fresh squeeze glass of OJ. I love the serene atmosphere there with plenty of sun rays through the large windows illuminating the brass surfaced pending lamps.

You are so walkable in lower Manhattan and it was a great way to see your beauty (your wall graffitis, your modern architectures, your red bricked walls, your apartment stair cases, your lively people, and your multi-culture). But if I didn’t care for strolling around in the cold, then there was the world known yellow cab which was very affordable too! Besides the hotel’s cool white-tiled exterior, I can find within a short walking distance anything ranging from roof top night clubs around the corner, espresso bars, bakeries, as well as street food stands (one in the front of the hotel), yummy late night pizzas (Brunetti Pizza, 626 Hudson St.) (especially required after too much drinks at 4 am), and have I already mentioned great restaurants and bars?!

The Chelsea Market (75 9th Ave.) to me is where anything can happen and is only a block away from the hotel. You are spontaneous like that! If I ever get too lazy to walk out there into town and/or there is a snow storm alert coming, this covered venue is very special! One is expected to find anything ranging from espresso bar, pastries and freshly baked bread. A crave for fresh oysters there is The Lobster Place!! There, it’s a retail fish market with omakase sushi bar but also a raw bar where people can order and eat at the counter nearby the living seashells. There is even a German wurst place!! There are plenty of cool shops for gifts giving. I love this market!

Sight seeing to me is so boring but we strolled around town and set our sight towards The Flatiron Building then marched towards the Empire State Building. I got remotely distracted by the Museum of Sex and ought to call out Grant on this! Our last Vegas trip during thanksgiving holiday failed on us in finding adult shows for some sort of sex Ed haha I’ll skip the details there 😉 but anyone can read this post here! The Empire State Building was incredibly crowded (uncool!!) so we evidently ditched the queue and headed out towards the world known Times Square. Bright lights, giant billboards and honking everywhere! It was to say the least chaotic. Gotta get away now! Who really hangs out in Times Square aside from catching a Broadway show or… yeah tourists!!

The Museum of Sex, was it really a distraction?! or an attraction? Can you tell me 😉
If anyone needed a breath of fresh air when the concrete walk way and the stinging sound of sirens and honking felt suffocating and exhausting, there is fun and relaxation in strolling in your parks. Aside from the obvious green area of Central Park, I loved the Brooklyn Bridge Park where my friend and I got to have a humble picnic; with the magical view over Manhattan in the dark contrast of what you do best which is to gleam lights and inspire us with your beauty. We hopped on a yellow cab and asked to go to Pier 11. I had the idea of getting on a ferry to have a good gaze at the scintillant Brooklyn Bridge by the night. My friend and I cheered with red wine in plastic cups (lack of sophistication here, not me!) set ourselves up on a butt- frozen stairwell of the Brooklyn Bridge Park. We had some crackers dipped in olive paste and some (unidentifiable) cheese. Despite the blazing cold where my fingers and toes stopped responding to my commands, I very much enjoyed taking you in for a brief and calm sudden moment.

After filling our stomach at Mr. Tuka Ramen (170 Allen St.), we needed to walk it off a bit right so we headed towards world renown Comedy Cellar to test your sense of humor. Are you that funny? Unfortunately you are ever so crowded so we again ditched the queue and got some late drinks at the hotel. I served my friend some of the ice wine I got from my trip to Montreal the weekend before. It was so sweet but so tasty.

More sight seeing followed on our last day photographing the one World Trade Center and the memorial site, stopped by Wall Street to find the Charging Bull and the Fearless Girl. Finally walked towards the Battery Park to have a peak at the Statue of Liberty from a far distance. But on our way to Sunday Brunch, not Egg Shop,151 Elizabeth St.), not the Butcher’s Daughter (19 Kenmare St.) (the queue estimated to be 1 hour waiting time so no thanks!!) got a green juice (must have Matcha Fizz made of matcha, fresh lime, honey and rosemary ) at the Cafe Integral (149 Elizabeth St.) and amazing classic Persian food instead (Ravagh Persian Grill, 125 1st Ave.). On our way there, I got to see life through Greenwich village. Kids playing at the playground and youngsters shooting hoops. And other people brunching too. The Persian grill was phenomenal! I’d recommend to anyone! And finally time was up!

Plushie Research
Anna Chambers-
Anna Chambers plushies follow in a cute cartoonish style. Her work varies with fabric and style per plushie, such as, her food plushies that are cute and simple and her designer plush is black with contrasting features. Her work reminds me of something that would be seen on a children's show or in a bedtime story.
On these plushies the designs are different to what she usually does- These plushies are made where their main features are contrasted to stand out. As to why the colours are uniquely chosen such as Orange, Blue and Pink.
Kidrobot-
I really enjoy Kidrobot’s yummy world plushie designs. Each plushie has a unique style based on a food\brand. The style is fun and cute making it kid friendly too. I wouldn't be able to implement the idea of a larger plushie containing a smaller plushie however it can link to my idea of having a detachable heart plush to go with my design. I think the main target audience for these plushies is roughly around newborn to possibly 13/14. The design appeals to young children with the bright colours and large eyes.
Jellycat-
Jellycat plushies are more modern and classic. These are the sort of plushies you’d get as a gift for a celebration. Such as baby showers, birthdays, christenings etc. The designs vary a lot unlike kidrobots style so there’s more options to select from. I think the target audience can range far on these because it depends what you would buy one for. The plushies remind me of something you’d get as a newborn that you’d keep as a memory. The quality (judging by images) looks good and I believe they're worth the price. Some go as low as £14 to £20+.
Themakerscabinet (Gemma Goodridge)-
Gemma Goodridge’s plushies consist of felt fabric and clay. She sculpts the facial expressions such as the eyes, mouth and nose out of clay and attaches it to the fabric once done. She photographs them in a solid colour background (with some lighting) to which is the same colour as the plush. It’s easier to market plushies etc with clear backgrounds because it allows the main features to stand out.
These plushies are actually made with clay features such as the eyes and mouth along side the fabric etc. Just the design is contrasted with a cute colour scheme but the semi-realistic eyes, mouth and nose.
FriendsWithYou-
The FriendsWithYou Plushies are a sculpture series. Each plush is uniquely made with different materials such as leather and felt. Their appearances are also very unique and colourful giving a slight theme as if it were a circus. The plushies are rare to find and can range in price from £50 to £330+
These designs are goofy but cool, They really show creativity at it’s finest such as the placement of the teeth and the placement of the goofy mouths which match with the small rounded eyes. The colours choses are unique and are welcoming to children however these are collectables and only so many exist.

[2:28 PM]
I had a nice afternoon today. It started with wearing my dad’s orange fleece jacket that I like a lot. There’s engine oil stains on the elbows from when he was doing work on our boat, but I think I’m going to use it to paint in so I don’t mind at all.
He drove me down to the University District, where we went inside an art supplies store. My professor and classmates had recommended it highly, but from outside, it looked like very small hole-in-the-wall type of place. As soon as you stepped inside though, it was clear the store went on for at least a block. All of the signs, directions, and even the cement floor looked hand painted or drawn.
We only bought paint and a pallet knife for myself, but I think I’ll go back for canvas and a sketchbook soon. There is something energetic about stores like this.
My dad and I had lunch at a flagship ramen house across the street from where he used to live. During grad school he didn’t have a car, only a bike, and he would haul it up two flights of stairs to shove into a closet inside his studio apartment. We talked about this over the fresh noodles and yummy broth. I put copious ginger into mine.
Our waiter was nice too. His hair was blue at the end, and the way he stood reminded me of my dancer friend, almost on his toes all of the time.
After that we walked to a small coffeeshop, two stores down from a Starbucks. Both stores were packed with college age people and their laptops. My dad ordered us two espresso shots with whipped cream on top, it has some sort of name but I forget the exact wording. There was a side room to the store, and fortunately this one had seating space. It was very quiet, but there were maps on the walls and a globe on one of the desks that looked too old to belong to any of the people sitting there. The far wall held an oil painting that I liked a lot. The colors were something like what I would use, with lots of yellow and contrasts.
The espresso shots themselves were delicious. They reminded me of savory desserts like really good cheeses and pepper jelly. The flavor was mouth-filling, and stayed on the edges of your tongue. I think that when we got there and started chatting quietly, other people began talking to each other a little more too, like we had broken some type of tension. That could be just wishful thinking though, or not related to us at all.
Regardless of what it meant, my dad and I had an interesting conversation. I told him about how I disagreed with a lot of what my old philosophy professor’s teaching style, but it got me thinking a bit on what he taught us about Descartes. That was the “I think, therefore I am,” guy.
Descartes had this interesting idea that it was theoretically possible for all of our senses, sight, hearing, smell, to have false inputs. In other words, it could be possible that none of what we are experiencing is the real truth. I think my professor used the term ‘Evil Demon/Genius’ as a being who might be giving us these false senses.
It’s kind of funny to think about how emotions can do that all by themselves. When I’m feeling happy, everything feels happier, and so on. My therapist had talked to me about something similar happening with depression. It can be hard to remember that what I’m feeling it going through that lens of negativity, it’s like a dark filter over the things I experience.
Anyways, I liked that thought, and this afternoon. I hope I can get some drawings and a painting done for this art class today.
If not, that’ll be alright too.

I’ve just launched a brand new Da Vinci Trio that I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I do! (please read on for my marble mixes using these colors as well as lots of sample paintings). Da Vinci Trios are those awesome little artist-curated sets with three 8ml watercolor tubes and mixing suggestions that first launched in April 2018.
My new Da Vinci Trio is called the “Vintage” trio because mixing these colors took me back to my childhood during the 70’s with faded blue jeans, greens and golds, along with pops of orange and brown. Yeah, I contemplated calling it “That 70’s Trio,” but vintage works just fine as well, since it’s not really limited to a decade. But, for me at least, it created a trip down memory lane and the start of a wonderful journey to embark upon.
Painted Using Only My “Vintage” Da Vinci Trio
If you did happen to be around during the 70’s, you’ll no doubt remember those shiny kitchen appliances that actually came in a few colors, but two of the most popular colors were Harvest Gold and Avocado Green. These would be nestled into place and surrounded by deep brown wood cabinetry. Yep, even the Tupperware containers were made to match! It was, perhaps, a bit overkill in a single kitchen, but as a palette, I find using Harvest Gold and Avocado green to be really quite lovely. It works just wonderfully for memories of miniature golf or, as it turns out, it’s pretty perfect for painting actual avocados.

Charlie’s “Vintage” Da Vinci Trio
SO, what are these three wonderful colors that created such fun and nostalgia for me in creating my Vintage Trio? A lovely mix of Aureolin, Vermilion, and Indigo! When I was deciding on what trio to create, I mixed these colors on a whim and was immediately hooked.
Aureolin (Mixture) (PY40/PY3 – Transparent)
This lovely and light yellow is beautiful on its own and creates a nice glow as an underpainting in a light wash. It’s great to add a bit of pop to citrus fruits or to mix with other colors, which is primarily how I use it. Despite its lighter color, there’s a richness and intensity there so a little can go a very long way. With just the tiniest drop of Indigo, you can get a lovely and bright green that almost glows or you can add a bit more to get an earthy shade of green. Similarly, a tiny drop of Vermilion can create a fiery orange glow.
Vermilion (Hue) (PR188/PO62 – Semi-transparent)
This color is definitely one of my new favorites. In lighter washes, it’s a lovely orange shade, but used with very little water or built up with several washes, you can get a beautiful red that can look even redder based on the colors with which you surround it (check out those tomatoes below!) Though this and Indigo won’t combine to give you purple, you will get a gorgeous chocolatey brown that already has a reddish tint to make those food sketches of chocolate treats look even more appetizing.
Indigo (PB27/PV19 – Transparent)
As an illustrator, I immediately fell in love with this deep and rich blue. It’s a wonderful way to quickly add dark contrast to my sketches, while doing so with a hue to keep things from looking too dull. It’s become my a new favorite as well and you’ll find it making an appearance in most of my daily sketches. If you follow daily illustrations, you’ll notice that I like things to look extra bright and happy. In order to achieve those effects, it’s actually the darker tones that make the paper white and lighter colors really pop. So this moody blue is totally perfect for elevating the mood a bit and creating that bright level of contrast.
My Marble Mixing Chart
Here’s a few of my marble mixes you can get from this “Vintage” trio. As I mentioned in my first trio post, my inner child doesn’t like to make swatches, so I always make marbles instead. Because of the quick style in which I paint, often without letting every layer dry completely, these marbles are a bit more accurate to how I actually mix color.
Also, as before, this isn’t a triad, so you won’t be able to get a bright purple from this mix, but you can get just about every single color that was popular when I was a little kid in the 70’s, so that’s why I called this one “Vintage,” which yes, also makes me feel old, but thankfully not old enough to qualify for “antique” yet. Though this trio works quite well when painting them.
Painted Using Only My “Vintage” Da Vinci Trio
Painted Using Only My “Vintage” Da Vinci Trio
These are not shy colors, so it often takes only the tiniest drop of another color in this palette to transform them. Or a perfectly balanced combo of two of them to get a specific color for a mix. Here’s an example with Aureolin and Indigo. Note, how just a drop of Indigo in Aureolin creates a very bright, almost acid green, while just a drop more quickly moves it to a calmer, forest green. While an equal blend makes for a faded green that I find rather pretty.
When it comes to Neutrals and this palette, you can actually get a gorgeous grey from a delicately balanced combo of Vermilion and Indigo. Adding extra of either color will bring you to the deep blue blacks and deep rich browns that are quite lovely in this mix. And mixing all three with a lot of water can give you some lovely pastel neutrals like a faded green or even a dusty pink.
To be honest, I tend to splash colors about a bit on my palette and don’t approach color in a horribly scientific way, preferring to go by impulse alone. Sometimes, okay most of the time, I grab for the accidental mixes that occur when my paint blends together on the palette. So it’s not easy for me to explain each and every mix, since some of them happen in the messy moment and I’m still finding them and making them up as I go along!
What I always suggest is a fair amount of playing and splashing when you want to try new mixes. It’s in those more playful and less controlled moments that the unexpected discoveries are made. Below you can see some examples of these neutrals at play in an elephant and her baby that was created with only Vermilion and Indigo, and a pen and ink set that adds just a few pops of Aureolin at the very end, simply to give the illusion of having more colors present.
I adore the range that I can get from these colors and the fond memories that flood back to me, harkening back to a time when many of these colors were are all the rage. A bold, yet still more subdued palette before those bright pastels and neons blasted their way into the 80’s.
Charlie’s “Vintage” Da Vinci Watercolor Trio – Watercolor Marble Mixing Chart
Here’s a full chart of my marble mixes so you can get an idea of the range you can achieve with these colors. I make these marbles by first painting with water, leaving white for the highlights, then I jump in with various colors, pushing colors a bit toward the edges to both create the outline of the marble, but also to quickly see the darkest shades as well. The shadow is dashed in with whatever remains on my brush, which often, depending on the colors is a more neutral shade as the colors have then blended together.
I love this technique, because you can create each marble in a quick single pass, an entire chart like this one in less than 10 minutes, and simply wait for it all to dry at the very end to see the final magical color mixes that are revealed. Plus, it’s just really fun to DO!
My “Vintage” Trio – Even More Painting Examples
I had a blast using this trio and found myself reaching for these colors on a fairly regular basis recently. So here are some more examples of what you can make with this little set. When I first began testing these colors, things stayed very vintage, from camper vans to that 70’s sensation of the Pet Rock.

I quickly discovered that this Vintage Trio can be used to paint just about anything at all, and decided to give animals a try. Yep, these colors will work well for that too, and allow you to paint all sorts of animals, from parrots to alpacas!

And lastly, here are some examples of the rich tomato reds and glowing amber colors you can get with this trio, and, I did mention chocolate, right? Below are those delicious browns that might look a bit dated today on kitchen cabinetry, but can make chocolate desserts look really yummy! And a vintage trio would certainly not be complete without paying homage to the TV dinner.

~our summer home tour~{part 1}
~Welcome to our home~ If you are coming over from Duke Manor Farm, welcome!
I am so happy you our here, I can't wait to show you around. Our home is only 2,000 square feet and we use every inch of it. We spend a lot of time in the summer on our lake and relaxing in the yard. We have 2 kids, a pet rabbit, and 3 labs. It gets very crazy in here at times! I got a little crazy with photos, so I hope you won't be on picture overload. Thanks to Marty for asking me to be a part of this tour. All the homes are so different and unique, there is something to fit most everyones style and taste.
Lets start this tour with our kitchen. Dutch doors open right into the kitchen, and technically this is our front door.
I prefer a pretty neutral palette but I do like to add color in small doses here and there.
The pantry is behind the barn doors.
I really like the mix of new and vintage and prefer to mix higher end items with thrift shop finds for an eclectic look.
For example:
I filled this vintage French rack with mugs from Anthropologie that were $8 a piece.
But most of my white dishes in the cupboards are either from the dollar store or the thrift store and I don't think any of them were over $3.00.
I found this old vodka bottle at an antique store and thought the colors and graphics were so fun.
This divided wooden tote holds extra silverware and all my napkin rings.
This coffee station is heaven for me and my coffee addiction!
To read all about it, and to see where I purchased some of the items, please go to this post.
I just got these new ruffled linen kitchen towels from here and they are the best!
Let's move into the living/family room.
This room is used a lot so I like it to be clutter free as much as possible.
I lightened up the couch a bit by storing a bunch of the pillows and just opting for three. These boho pillows are so pretty and stand out on their own.
I found the long crocheted pillow at HomeGoods.
I added lots of galvanized items to this room because they look of it screams summer to me and keeps things from being too fussy.
The bowl that holds the orchids was a garage sale find, {similar} the tray on the side table is old but similar ones here. The zinc trough that holds books under the coffee table can be found here.
You can often find us snacking out here in front of the tv.
Sometimes we even eat dinner out here :)
I styled our bookshelves very simply with neutral books and pops of wood and orange.
Off of the living room is the dining room.
The giant picture was our Christmas card a couple years ago and I had it enlarged at mpix.
This room overlooks the lake and the trees, so I let most of the decor come from whats outside the windows.
The sign is from my favorite sign artist here.
The credenza almost blends into the wall which was my intent.
A few accessories from HomeGoods and and antique shops finish off the look and add a bit of color.
This bench underneath {flea market find} was a life saver for storage. Believe it or not it holds all of our board and card games. It doubles as extra seating when we need it.
The centerpiece is just a bunch of herbs in various white pots.
Moving on to the master bedroom.
I think a master bedroom should really fit the personality of the homeowners.
It should be super comfortable, luxurious, and a space that feels like a retreat.
One way I like to accomplish this is with really nice bedding.
Linen is my top choice, especially in the summer.
Duvet cover, sheets, pillows, the whole nine yards.
I love the relaxed crumpled look of linen and the feel of it on your skin.
I always go with white because not only is it fresh and clean, but it can be bleached.
I added layers of white Saphyr Pure Linen and it is Heaven.
Look at the details on these pillowcases, and they are so soft.
The sheets have the same detail.
It feels like a dream getting into bed at night, and for that occasional nap!
I had my friend monogram a vintage grain sack for the front of the bed.
And while we are on the topic of luxury bedding, why not have a palace for your pooch?
All of our dogs sleep in our room on dog beds. But the 6 month old puppy still can't be trusted to not chew something up at night, so he sleeps in a crate.
We had just a standard one but then I happened upon a company called Lords & Labradors.
What really caught my eye was that they sold a GOLD dog crate with a plush grey and cream ticking stripe cover and cushion set.
Yes please!
Talk about plush bedding.
When it arrived in the mail it was packaged all cute in a box with dogs all over it.
It was better than I had imagined. Totally high end with piping, ties, a bumper, and thick cushion. The sides and front can roll up, or you can leave them down.
I think this set is nicer than what my kids had in their cribs!
Adding fresh flowers to your nightstands or dressers is always a nice way to add a bit of summer to your bedroom.
These white peonies are romantic and ruffly.
I like to keep water handy and a yummy candle.
I corralled all of them on a vintage silver tray.
I have had that JuJu hat over the bed for a while now and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. I love the contrast with the dark walls
{graphite by Ben Moore}
and the texture it brings in.
You can find the exact modern brass chandelier here.
Master closet and master bathroom:
To see how we made our industrial pipe closet system, go here.
Adding cabinets to our bathroom flanking the sink was one of the best decisions ever made.
We don't have linen closets or coat closets in this home, so these are a life saver.
More details on our bathroom makeover here.
The chandelier is from here but unfortunately not available anymore.
All the artwork is from Minted.
I have a Keurig in one of the cabinets because I don't like to go far in the morning for my caffeine fix.
Teen boys room:
Cody is almost 16 and requested a big comfy bed with a trundle for sleepovers.
I got a new neutral duvet cover to go with it and added in pops of blues and greens in the pillows.
I found the car he will drive when he turns 16 in a mini toy form at an antique store and had to have it.
He actually hung this giant flag on his wall and it was the jumping off point for the rest of his room.
The old leather chair faces his tv and has another pillow for a pop of color and a ticking one to match the duvet cover.
Anyone else have a shoe obsessed teen?
I know that was a lot. I got a little carried away with my pictures.
I will be sharing our outdoor spaces on the 25th, so please come back then.
In the meantime, head on over to 11 Magnolia Lane to see their tour.
xoxo

Cutie Reviews: nmnl 7 August 2017
Hello Cuties, welcome to another review~
I’d like to start off by warning there is a mini-rant, but you can skip it if you just want to see the review itself.
I’ve been fairly under the weather again, but I always get sick in the month of August due to having “seasonal allergies”, which yes is a thing. It strikes in August, and essentially every few months at the first sign of the season changing. It’s horrible and pretty much feels like the equivalent of having a flu. Thankfully, I do have a 24-hour medication for it, but that doesn’t exactly rid of the lack of energy symptoms. I just woke up about 2 hours ago after sleeping for about six, and I’ve been drowsy for the past hour. But I put this off long enough and I apologize for that.
I’ve come to the realization that when I’m not very impressed with a specific crate of the month, I usually end up putting off the review. Not very professional, but I’m not the only person to do it.
Okay :D so I am very excited to announce that for new members or those who are already signed up and upgrade their accounts are entitled to this ADORABLE Cardcaptor lip product:
Isn’t it the cutest thing ever?! ♥ I’m so upset, I really want it, but I don’t entirely understand the “upgrading“ membership thing and given every other expense I have to deal with at the time, I’m not sure I could really afford this change anyway.
But I will admit that I am disappointed. I know I sound like a broken record by now but I hate how the boxes lure members in with cute items like this, or include cute items in their images or the contests listed in the booklets but us regularly paying members rarely ever get cute things and it’s so frustrating. I’m assuming it’s a price thing- but it’s hard to say.
Okay, so let’s get this started! Here we have this months “selfie contest“ prizes. Grand prize features a Beauty and the Beast theme, while the runner-ups get this Hello Kitty deep conditioning hair product.
First up is the Rune Girl Face Mask, an item featuring a piece of art from the 60′s by Rune Naito, an illustrator said to have been one of the founding fathers of kawaii culture.
Essentially it’s a basic face mask in a basic silver package in a thin box. It has a generic face mask scent, which reminds me of lotion. The silver package and face mask themselves are just as generic; in fact, this entire product is generic wrapped in a cutesy box. The face mask works perfectly fine so that gets a 5, but in terms of appeal I’d have to give it a 2 because at the end of the day, it feels like a generic dollar store item with a character slapped on the front. There’s nothing to really say it’s a special, gotta have it, unique item- unless you really like the art work.
This Candy Faceline Massage Toothbrush I was pretty happy to get, because I was kind of in the need for a new toothbrush. It’s main selling point is the sphere behind the head, used for massaging the laugh lines from the inside of your mouth, and to plump lips (if you’re into that sort of thing).
Of course I HAD to get it in yellow, cause according to the booklet it also came in pink. Normally with these crates I’m lucky enough to get pink things... but when yellow is an alternate choice, I usually end up with yellow. My most favorite color versus my hate color...
But for once I actually didn’t mind. I love translucent things, and this yellow is actually quite pretty (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧ It’s like the gem of all toothbrushes~
5 out of 5. At the end of the day, this is a basic toothbrush for me. But I like the ball on it- it’s fun to rub and play with, even if it starts out a little weird to have in your mouth. I do feel the need to take extra cleaning precautions to make sure germs don’t get spread but I like the fun little addition.
Following those facial items, we have this Lassic Creamy Mint Body Massage Milk. A soothing body milk with skin tightening ingredients like caffeine, orange, lemon, and bilberry fruits, as well as hyaluronic acid for nourishing.
It’s very light in application and claims not to be sticky (although my hands say otherwise), and has a yummy, creamy mint scent. It’s reminds me a lot of a mint-flavored milk tea I used to drink during winter. I don’t get to drink it anymore but it’s something I’ll always remember~
4 out of 5. Like I said, the description claims there shouldn’t be stickiness but I still feel it on my hands, but not where it gets applied. It is very light, so I don’t feel like I have several layers on top of my skin afterwards, I adore the scent but I imagine some people might not like it. As you can see in the picture it’s also fairly loose and runny. There is a small tingling sensation as it’s applied though, which feels pretty nice.
Now we’re moving back onto the face :D with the Coupy-Design Gel Eyeliner in purple. This is a collab item made by Coupy, a world renowned colored plastic pencil maker, and Decora Girl. It comes in this colorful, adorable little applicator, and is a gel to help with precise application and is full of moisturizing ingredients.
I don’t wear eyeliner often, but I got excited for some more colored eyeliner that promised easier application. Where I live it’s hard to find any light colors, it’s always ultra-dark shades of black or brown, maybe midnight blue. This purple is kind of dark? But at the same time you can look at it and determine that it is purple. You can kind of see it on the white part on top of the packaging. I drew some marks on it.
4 out of 5. I really like this- but there is one big thing I should bring up. If you get this, or any sort of applicator with a twisty bottom- make sure it can be retracted so you don’t ruin it. I suppose this is a good thing though, because it would probably help you determine when it’s getting low and may allow for less-movement when applying, but if someone didn’t know that and made it un-useable before they used it, it would defeat the purpose.
Our last item for today is the Hada Bijin Tofu Soap, which comes prepared like an actual tofu. Isn’t that cute? x3 They take it a step further by including soybean extract and bitterns, items they use when preparing tofu and contain moisturizing properties. It also contains brown and apricot seeds, and polyglutmatic acid, and yuzu fruit extract.
The fun feature about this soap is that it comes in a dish similar to the one fresh tofu is eaten in, and a foaming net to create a great lather (which I will point out you’d only want to use during a bath or shower. It’s kinda useless as a hand washing item).
4.5 out of 5. As much as I prefer cute, scented soaps, I can’t deny this soap made my hands feel a little softer. My hands are normally soft to begin with, but I don’t really have anyone with dry, older hands to test it out either. It did lather really nice though, and it feels nice in my hand, with it’s big rounded shape. I love the thought process behind it as well (I also happen to like tofu), and there is a small amount of scent to it; it reminds me of soybeans.
The only issue I have is that my hands feel weirdly after a few minutes. Like there’s a layer of soap or chalk on them and that is a feeling I hate with soap. I do plan to use it when I take my bath later though, to see if anything different happens.
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Quality - 4 out of 5. Again, no theme for this one and the products are fine. I’m not sure how much this all retails- but I’m not sure the price we pay syncs up with the amount. Like a toothbrush can’t be much unless it’s some super-fancy mechanical thing. The items are on an average scale to me. I feel like you could go to a dollar store and get similar stuff.
Content - 3 out of 5. I generally enjoyed everything but nothing made me feel excited or overwhelmingly delighted to have. I did need a new toothbrush but does that really count?
(practicality is a given, so there’s no need to include it)
Total Rank: 12 out of 15 Cuties. I liked the products- but in comparison to the previous box I feel like they took another step down. I didn’t have high remarks for the last one (but I did like the products), but this feels lesser than it did.
♥ Cutie Scale ♥
1. Massage Toothbrush - Again, gem of all toothbrushes! It’s simple, but very pretty in my opinion.
2. Eyeliner - As much of an anti-pop type that I am, I do fall in love with colorful, popping designs! I love the colorful chaotic coloring on the package and the contrast with the tube the eyeliner is included in.
3. Body Massage Milk - It’s simple, but charming.
4. Tofu Soap - This feels kind of elegant to me, the efforts they put into one bar of soap.
5. Rune Girl Face Masks - They say cute, I say “retro manga-looking girl“.
Okay Cuties, that does it for another review. I’m sorry if it was kind of lackluster, lately I feel like I’m off my game. But it could be the sickness talking for all I know.
Anyway, I don’t want to get backed up again so I’m going to try to get the remaining four August crates reviews done soon. Until then, stay Cute!

Weight Loss Surgery: A Cautionary Lap-Band Story
I made the choice to possess weight reduction surgery. At that point, I expected the machines at about 305lbs. Our reasons, as any person confronted with this determination can recognize, were my own. I also made many problems at this point and those I believe need addressing. The greatest were: my option to have the surgery in my own hometown as well as the surgery I chose. I reside in a town of 100,000+. The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area is about three hours away. There is an office of physicians in my area recently declared as doing weightloss surgery, but only two: the Lap-Band and Gastric Bypass. I explored both procedures and had ideas about each, but wanted to consult a doctor within this office before making my final choice. I did believe the Lap Band may possibly be it for me though as it’s reversible as well as a less extreme option than the bypass (as far as having my anatomy cut up and re-sown together and experiencing troubles just like the chance for needing gallbladder surgery, “dumping syndrome,” and malabsorption problems.) Our step sister chose to have a bypass inside the metroplex area right before I had my procedure and was pleased as being a clam about the whole thing - I wish I’d followed her lead. I met with the doctor. I had been asked what insurance I'd (National Blue Cross Blue Shield) and what process I would like. I told them I’d prefer to examine my options as well as the physician did a short run-down of every, but the attitude of the visit was quite definitely “Why did you come here should you didn’t already know?” I plumped for Lap-Band… when I really should have opted for another physician, but the Lapband requires regular followup appointments for floods (treating liquid in to the group using a dock underneath the skin as a way to keep up with the band’s tightness round the stomach and stimulate weight reduction.) I wanted to be able to seek this maintenance within my hometown and never get for three hours each time I needed to be seen. I was ok using the probability of slower weight loss because - after spending nearly all of my living in Weightwatchers - I believed slow weight loss was more prone to equivalent permanent weight loss. The next time I noticed my doctor was your day of the task.
I was later told this can be what’s named being a “heartbeat with insurance.” I'd the procedure 01/14/09. There is no psych consult, no diet beforehand, no meeting with a nutritionist or exercise specialist - I had been informed “eh, should you don’t want it, take it out!“. Our last solid food and carbonated beverage was 01/12/09. The surgery was a day surgery. I had been put under, the group was placed, I was taken up to recover, gently smacked awake, taken to radiology, designed to do an upper GI and swallow contrast material so they may scan me and ensure everything was okay. This made me begin to retch which caused one of my surgical sites to reopen. I bled all around the ground - I still have the blood stained socks. I had been patched back-up and sent home. For that first twenty-four hours, I was flying. I was still high on whatever they gave me at the hospital plus the Twilight sleep area behind my head that was placed there to prevent the inevitable sickness I get after being sedated. Next? I was in hell. I joked about seeking a Clockwork Orange Diet - one where I encounter real pain or discomfort at the idea of eating since I thought that’s by what it would take to get me to improve my methods since I enjoy eating THAT much. Well, be mindful what you wish for… I vomited constantly. I was more nauseous than I have ever experienced my life. I took my pain medication which made it worse. The worst part? I was still ravenously hungry. The Lap-Band had no effect whatsoever on that. I wanted simply to consume and even the broths and soups I ate made me provide. The whole time I had been sickness, I was terrified I had been about to slide my band (trigger the group to go which might cause the wrong sort of constraint - myths I learn about this on the Internet said that individuals who did this couldn’t actually take their own throw afterward.) Band slippage often requires additional surgery to improve and that I was already in enough pain never to actually want surgery again. I can remember my Mother visiting visit me now and me crying and simply saying something similar to, “What have I accomplished? If you're also considering this, don’t do it.” My husband called a doctor to record how sick I had been to the stage we thought something was wrong. They shrugged it off. We called again. The physician finally accepted maybe it was my pain medication. Sure enough, I'd codeine sensitivity and factors were just a little better after I quit using the medication, BUT instead of giving to displace it with another thing, I was instructed to take liquid Tylenol… that I quit on because it didn’t support a little. So pretty much I did so the majority of my recovery without any pain management whatsoever $6. Besides being physically painful, I was instantly also up against an extremely real sensation like mental pain. Not able to sleep or get comfy, I resigned myself to the chair and watched TV all day. You don’t understand how much food there is on Television and soon you can’t have any. My husband would come home from work and that I would just cry. I’d list everything I watched and what everyone ate: a detective show with snacks, a sitcom with yummy cereal being nonchalantly eaten directly in the box. It was anguish. I don’t actually remember the post-surgery diet I was on. I believe it had been per week of clear fluids, fourteen days of whole (milky), two weeks of delicate after which regular food as tolerated. I’m not 100% sure though. I was appointed for my first follow-up. I think this was the very first time I left the house, used clothes, etc. I still felt like death. I offered myself in the surgeon’s office, searching and feeling like death and he explained ‘well done.’ I wondered if he was also considering me. A pal got me out from the home after week two, but I still felt terrible. Basically it was only a chair vacation, from languishing on my couch to languishing on hers for an evening. I got fourteen days off from work whole. “They” will say you can probably go back to work after one, but justincase there were troubles, I needed extra time to feel better - child, am I glad I got that much. Even if I was actually powerful enough after Week-One, mentally was another story - I would have gone ballistic on everyone the very first time somebody brought in a take-out hamburger for lunch. I continued planning to view the surgeon for group fills. We didn’t discuss my treatment solution or just how many fills I would require - initially I didn’t even feel any variation because the band tightened. He just kept telling me to come in. I'll attempt to sum up since I don’t really remember in what order things happened after this point. The almost three years I'd the group were essentially the most unpleasant of my life. My band never slipped or eroded, but I still experienced pain, discomfort and almost constant nausea. Anytime I am asked now about what I experienced, I reply the band is “medically controlled bulimia” - and that I have the ruined esophagus to prove it. Here are a few things I wish I'd identified: 1. The band doesn’t make sense Your stomach isn't a sealed container. It’s more like a sieve. The complete reason the Lap-Band is supposed to work is basically because the location of your stomach that causes emotions of depth which it talks for your head is close to the top. The band cinches up your stomach to produce a small pre-belly pouch that you will be supposed to complete with food that can trick this place into early feelings of volume. My doctor said the whole aim of eating is to take pencil eraser-sized hits and wait MINUTES between each. You must get so “bored with eating, you receive up and go do something different instead.” (Yes, tell a person who feels as though she is hungry to death to sit down in front of food and get pencil eraser-sized bites. That will certainly work.) So tell me this: you both follow this process and pulverize the food to the point that it moves directly through the band and defeats the point or you take big enough attacks which you do fill up your bag, but are then in pain as you experience each little bit of poorly chewed food try to go through your stoma (your opening from stomach pouch to regular stomach. I call it having “food babies.” the initial time I experienced the sensation of eating anything too big to easily pass through this beginning, it felt such as the worst ice cream headache ever. in my stomach!) 2. To many physicians, you're what I had been: a pulse with insurance Specialists receive money for performing surgery NOT for aftercare. Odds are great your physician will probably KEEP YOU. Hey, should you get have surgery in Mexico, you probably won’t get any aftercare at all! Which leads me to the next fun fact I wish I would have known: 3. If your physician leaves, NOBODY WILL TOUCH YOU. My surgeon left town and took his entire office with him within a year of my surgery. This left my village high and dry. There was nobody around who'd also go near me. This managed to get added fun when I ended up “obstructed” (the band packed my stomach completely closed for no reason in any way - I had been not able to eat or drink anything) and in the IM in regards to a week after he pulled up stakes. The original result of the ER was “go away, we don’t know something in what you have,” but it was a three day weekend and I actually had nowhere else to show therefore I actually had to go them through how to consider fluid out of my group therefore I would have some relief. I looked physicians within a THREE HUNDRED MILE distance and was possibly refused as a new individual though I could make my surgical document which showed there have been no complications with my surgery, or was cited a ridiculous “New Individual Fee” of anywhere from several hundred to several THOUSAND dollars. 4. Your insurance means nothing If you find yourself in the position I did so, abandoned by your surgeon with no one else within your community or out who will enable you to, congratulations: you've now entered the entire world of cash-for-support! It doesn’t subject that I've extraordinary insurance that taken care of just about anything I needed, without physician to get my insurance, I had been SOL. I resorted to gobetween. A silly middleman company that expected cash in advance then contacted a circle of providers near me (I used Austin generally - the quack in Irving hurt me worse trying to give me a fill than I’ve likely actually been injured in that situation before) to secure an appointment to get me a fill. I'd to use this company many times to secure fills to get me backup to the level I had been at ahead of the ER had taken some out once I was hindered. 5. You're in the band’s mercy Your Lab-Band uses no preset rules. It is also suffering from issues entirely beyond your control like atmospheric pressure. I am very much a monster of pattern and might consider the same equivalent Lean Cuisine meal to work for lunch each day. I might haven't any difficulty whatsoever eating it or -2 to 3 days-out of five- I may throw it up. I was also told inflammation and water retention within my period can and could create the group cinch itself up. The band is an implanted medical device. Think meticulously about every one of the ads you see on TV: “Call 1800-fat-sttlmet4u if you have had any of the following… Attorney Steve can fight for you!” If anything goes wrong withit, you experience more sideeffects or surgery. Our band actually had a recall putout on it not too long after I got it: just a little piece used to video the port’s tubing and maintain it from getting kinked up may come undone and cause stated kinkage to occur. The very best part: the recall was for companies not already introduced. For me who previously had it? “Don’t worry. Take no action. You’re probably fine.” The worst thing I focused on was getting blocked again without one to help me. Since the best move to make is worry and stress, I instantly thought of one of the best books/videos: “The Stand.” there is an entire section within the book devoted to those who might have survived the trouble when they hadn’t completed x/y/z (ruptured appendix, fell off cycle and broken skull, etc) and gotten killed. I immediately put myself within this category: the world ends, I endure, except my stomach squeezes automatically shut and that I starve to death. 6. You may still make all of the wrong choices What no one explained and I didn't uncover within my research regarding the band is: the band is a resource for fat loss, yes, but it’s an undesirable one. Since your stomach is intact, you may still extend it. The quack I discussed earlier in Irving stated someone he was seeing who were able to extend his body so far an upper GI revealed that his body just mirrored his intact stomach BELOW the group (one stomach, then lapband, then the other stomach.) There's also something called “soft calorie syndrome,” where your band may actually be too small (a situation my surgeon had me perpetually active in before he left.) You are physically unable to produce the “right” alternatives as it pertains to food as the right choices hurt. It never ceased to surprise me how I had been suddenly restricted in this regard after the group. I got to where I had endless cravings for salad since I hadn’t consumed a salad just about the complete time I was banded. The greens were a nono for me and would get stuck and irritate me till I put up. This kind of irritation can be what would cause potential obstruction since I’d get swollen. You begin making choices which are easy and never right - high calorie, creamy, fatty soups, milkshakes, ice cream - items that are simple to eat since they slip through the group and don’t cause any pain or discomfort. 7. You can still get all of it back I assume I knew about that potential, but I didn’t need to contemplate it. Allinall, I lost about 70lbs using the group all together. To be honest: since it didn’t impact my hunger whatsoever, all it did was delay the expected. Every single food and eating related desire was still there, I was only physically unable to express it. The month the ER did a partial un-load due to congestion? Yes, I gained 20lbs. I dropped it again after I got re-tightened, however it showed me the score. I was probably just about 10 or 15 pounds up when I finally chose to create a change. I joined Weight Watchers for the thousandth time and started rising and following - something I will have done since Day One with the group. I don’t know what I had been thinking. I was told lots of reasons for what the band was said to be and there were also a great deal of items that I will did that I didn’t. * * * And so I was un-banded (disbanded?) on Dec 6th (RIP Lappy 01/14/09 - 12/06/11) and chosen the gastric sleeve. I knew that when I didn’t get another kind of surgery - for all my exercising and good intentions - without that safety net, I would nevertheless be back up past 300 in per year.

My experience was the precise opposite of the Lap Band in almost every way. I'm amazing and hope I acquired the sleeve to begin with and didn’t waste nearly 3 years in anguish, but what’s the motto? Hindsight is always 20/20. The sleeve was still being polished as being a process in the past and so I might not have already been as happy with after that it when I am now-so - here’s a different one for you - everything happens at its own time as well as for its own explanation, I guess. I began writing this as being a comparison of each experience (hence the expanded URL), but I realized I had far too much to create hence the gastric sleeve will need to have its own center later. I really do quite definitely recognize that this IS one person’s experience. There are lots of other folks outthere who love their Lap Bands and also have had amazing experience together. I simply wished to inform you what happened tome in case you are building a fat loss surgery decision today an Become familiar with more about Centralia Orthognathic Surgery Surgeons
