Absolutely! I’m not sure what constitutes less well known so there may be some on here you consider pretty popular. I can’t tell you how many fics I put on my to read list when I went through the tags looking for stuff so please know I am in fact quite terrible at keeping up and finding stuff apparently.

Come Down From Your Holy Mountain by Jotunblood (Rated M 130k+) Post Mustafar redemption fic with lots of slow burn and sexual tension. This fic will tear your heart out a hundred times over and you will anguish for every character. Bonus points for absolutely gorgeous world building!

Lex Talionis by Intermundia (Rated E 180k+) Sith!au where Anakin and Obi-Wan both fall to the dark side except it’s far more complicated than that and there’s so much world building and politics and philosophy along the way. Heed the tags for darker themes but if you like rough gorgeously kinky sex and discussions of morality than this one’s for you.

My Anankē by Intermundia (Rated E 29k+ WIP) Teacher/student college au with classics and possessiveness and some desperate desperate pining and sex. I don’t normally like modern aus but this one is everything I love for this dynamic plus Molly’s love and knowledge of classics and that adds just such a delightful layer for me as a historian.

Untouchable by Blu3scorpion (Rated E 190k+) Absolutely read the tags for this fic and take them as they are. This story contains graphic rape and the psychological trauma from it. It’s dark,I had to read this in chunks because it fucked me up so bad,be mindful of this content and yourself. But blue does a gorgeous job of exploring this trauma with deftness and an incredible emotional complexity. I don’t think this fic will ever be updated or finished but it’s certainly worth a read.

CT-Skywalker by Selcier (Rated M 37k+ WIP) There is technically one unfinished chapter for this fic but it stands as complete as is and is one of my absolute favorites. Star Wars meets Mulan when Anakin isn’t raised as a Jedi and he steels a clone trooper’s armor and impersonates him while falling in love with his general. This tickles so many loves for me and one of them is the culture and world building for the clone troopers as well as the beautiful pining.

Like Real People Do by Glimmerglanger (Rated M 140k+) Clone Obi-Wan’s!!!! I adore Glimmer’s worldbuilding in all their fics and this is my all time favorite of theirs. I love the options for so many ships and the many versions of Obi-Wan,and the hurt pining in addition to the plot? Just wonderful stuff.

Put Down the Knife (the night is here) by Astalitha and Kaiserine (Rated M 35k+ WIP) Here’s another one that will probably never be finished but it’s worth the read anyway! Obi-Wan is a Sith dragon and Anakin battles him and falls for him despite himself. The tension is wonderful and the world building and DRAGONS.

Parks and Recreation by Luckee and Septemberist (Rated E 31k+) Park Ranger Anakin And English Professor Obi-Wan with a busted foot and some lovely sex. This fic is written with such love and deftness and the sweetness of it is just as good as the steaminess.

Flashing Lights by des_nuages_de_paris (Rated E 26k+ WIP) Oh look another modern au that’s an exception. Photographer Obi-Wan and model Anakin in the fashion world with so much ust it’s ridiculous? I just love the writing style so much in particular for this one that I find difficult to articulate as to why I enjoy the fic so much. It’s a lot of tropes I love just written very beautifully with an electric dynamic between these two.

Needing/Getting by chapstickaddict (Rated E 150k+ WIP) Sith Anakin with Jedi Obi-Wan and the twins. This fic is just so absolutely gorgeous and wonderfully written and it combines so really cool force world building with beautiful tension. The character building is top notch and I have adored every bit of this fic.

Through a Glass,Darkly by Glimmerglanger (Rated M 49k+) Obi-Wan and Anakin meet their sith mirror selves and have to return to one another. This fic combines wonderful world building with some really fun tropes with Sith shenanigans. The pining is immaculate and so fun to watch unfold.

Mud by Alcalina (Rated E 49k+) Pining during military campaigns is probably my absolute favorite setting of all time for this ship and I wish there was more of it,but this is one of my favorite and glorious examples for it. This fic combines the juicy background of military campaign with Anakin’s ridiculous wanting which will always be wonderful.

A Year in Cyberpunk

Ok, since I’m an author, I can do the cool thing photomodders and artists did. But I still wanted to… look back on this year of Cyberpunk. So this will be a long text post where I’ll share with you tidbits about the making off of the various fictions I wrote this year, and how the fandom made this past twelve months amazing!

You'll also get hints about what you can expect from me in the future ;)

January

I didn’t write anything in January, because I was actually just discovering the game. Interestingly, I didn’t expect anything from that game, I had not been waiting for it, I totally forgot it existed and its release just went over my head for reasons I can’t explain. Anyway, the only thing I knew about that game was that Keany Reeves had been drunk on stage while promoting it, and that it had been, for me, a very cringe moment because I hate seeing drunk people in such circumstances. Thankfully for Keanu, it went well overall. So anyway, I was playing the game.

February

I started writing You Shall Build no Church Upon Me. First fanfiction in over five years, first fiction in this fandom, first fiction in English. I wanted it to be just a few pages, it evolved into 78k words. The story revolves around Johnny and Male!V coming back from beyond the Black Wall under the command of Alt, ten years after the events of the game. Alt needs to get her army of AIs on the other side, and V and Johnny are missioned to find bodies for her and the 8 AIs she intends to be her apostles. I went hard on the religious theme here, with alt being a monstrous goddess trying to take over humanity, and V who actually believes (for a moment) that she is right. Every chapter’s title was named after a line from the bibble, but this fanfiction is actually a LONG pamphlet against religion in any form. The title is a throwback to Jesus saying to Peter he would be the first stone on which he would build his church. Here, V has the role of Peter. Looking back to it, not only these are very serious themes for fanfiction, but it’s also so full of typos it hurts my eyes to read it over. I know I must do so once more to tidy it up but I just cringe so hard every time I try. Kudos to the people who still read it, and also went over the fact that I killed Kerry in that one. My main ship was indeed Johnny/Male!V, but I did give Kerry a good, absolutely heartbreaking death.

March

I published You Shall Build no Church Upon Me, and once again felt the anxiety of publishing, waiting for reactions… And the terrible feeling when nothing happens ahah. Not the best experience in my life, I’ll admit, but it pushed me to do better afterward. And it did get a few people enthusiastic about it, so in the end, it was fine.

April

I told my partner I would write only one fanfiction and then be done. As you can imagine, this didn’t go well. I decided to write another one based on one scene stuck in my head: My V, bursting mid-samurai concert to kill bad guys who wanted to kill Johnny and Kerry. In the meantime, I had time to “change pairing” and add Kerry to the mix. So now I have this OT3 that I just can’t let go. This fiction, All of My Heroes are Dead, was also prompted by ThornWild's Chase the Morning, also with the OT3, because at one point he replied in one comment to me that he wasn’t sure the OT3 would happen. And I was like “What ?! But I WANT IT ?!!!” So I made it: never better served but by yourself! (the OT3 does happen in CtM, though ;)). Again I told myself “it’s gonna be just a few chapters”… it ended being 140k words long, if you take the accompanying backstories. And it was a wild ride. I was still alone with that fic, still unclear on most of Cyberpunk’s lore so this fic is… quite messy on that front, I would say? But overall, it was better than the first one for sure and I can actually read it over without totally cringing. Again, I went with a theme for chapters: it all revolves around greek gods, and the greek heroes Herakles (Johnny), Orpheus (Kerry), and Ulysses (V) in their journey to find happiness. Angst with happy endings, always!

May/June

I published All of My Heroes are Dead. On this occasion, I met the fantastic @strandhai, who would afterward become my Beta-reader and friend. She put a comment under every chapter, allowing me to experience the story from a reader's point of view and it was a heady feeling! We started talking like this, and then on Tumblr and then…

July

I decided to fill prompts. I had seen Hrimthur do it and I wanted to try my hand at that. At first, I thought it might be only three or four prompts, and that it would be it. It wasn’t. After the first four prompts or so, my inbox got a bit full, to the point I had once seven prompts waiting for me while I was writing one. But by god, I really couldn’t complain because it was so much fun having all these prompts, and finding the angle I liked to reply to them. And of course, the feedback was amazingly positive and that was all the encouragement I needed. At first, I tried to limit myself to 2k words per prompt… It lasted for the five first and then totally got away ahah. Some prompt evolved into full fanfiction, and I wrote more for some of them, mainly the Panam/male!V one, which ended up with three more chapters (and soon, a sequel… soonish!). Special mention to the silverdynes prompts, which really were the dearest to me. I really loved exploring their relationship, and to this day I wrote a full sequel for two of them about Johnny going to therapy, which remains one of my favorite works. I also decided to give all those prompts names, and french names because I’m a proud french girl ahah.

August

Following the prompts, I decided to join the Cyberpunk Bigbang Challenge. And with that, got introduced to the Cyberpunk discord servers. First the one from the Big Bang, and then later two more. Suddenly I met the whole community of the fandom, some of which I already knew thanks to tumblr, but also new people. And with that, help with the lore, and the characterization. And a lot of fun. And a f*** tons of plot bunnies! I roped Strandhai into joining after a while too, and that’s where our friendship really bloomed, I think.

September

Being on the Lizzie Server, I got into a lively convo about Kerry’s kinks, which started the Lizzie's Villa Eurodyne Smut Extravaganza. I only filled two prompts out of the four or five, but it was so much fun! It’s really nice to participate in such events with other authors, the three of them being people I admire a lot, so I was feeling very… shy, but also wanted to prove myself worthy. It birthed The Eye of the Storm, and Enough!. I particularly loved writing The Eye of the Storm because I love writing soft!Kerry. When I wrote this one, it was like I had stamped a post-it note on my brain with “BE DELICATE” written on it aha. I treated Kerry like the precious being he is, and had V worship him like he deserves. Enough! On the other hand, is the other facette of Kerry: the wild, chaotic, power-bottom and assertive man he also is. In that one, he put V into his place and it was really thrilling to write too. Completely different, and a good exercise. I think I always perceived these two facets in him, but it was fun to play with one and then the other separately. Enough! Was also my first real BDMS scene, so I was a bit anxious, but it went fine, I think. Both these works will get sequels. Enough! Was also our training session with Strandhai, as she beta-read it for me.

October

It was a big month! it was the official launch of the Big Bang Challenge. I had already started writing after much internal debate about what I would write. I briefly considered a fusion between Pirates of the Caribean, before discarding it. I thought it might be too long and complex. I only I had known what I was throwing myself into by choosing the other idea. What would Become Until we Meet Again was prompted by the question: how would Johnny and Kerry have reacted if V died? And it was on. The plot is actually fairly simple, it’s a psychological tale before anything else, and an epic love story about soulmates. And it grew SO MUCH. From the beginning, I knew it would span between 2023 and 2077 with heavy use of flashbacks. I kept adding more scenes to really explore their relationship the first time, and then their grief. The central piece was how Johnny and Kerry coped after he was killed in the Arasaka raid in 2023 by Smasher. Spoiler alert, they cope it as well as you could expect it: badly. This story once again had heavy themes: love, grief, letting go, change, self-love, self-forgiveness, and the consequences of resurrection. As well as a good dose of technobabble surrounding the engram tech. And a lot of sex ahah. Fun fact, this fiction was first named The Ghost in Me, but because ghost themes were so present in the Big Bang, and that Thornwild also had Ghost in his title for his BB fiction, I decided to change it, fearing it would bring confusion.

When I was ready to start vomiting that fic (because trust me, it took a lot from me, that I gladly gave it but sometimes it was a bit too much) I wrote something else. I wrote Down on my knees, which is the sequel to Si la chute est belle, one of the Silverdynes prompts. Down on my Knees, apart from being the sequel to those prompts, was also born following All These Scars, the first installment of the Difficult to Love series by AtomicPunk. Spoiler ahead: in that fic, Johnny leaves Kerry after a night of comfort sex following Kerry being kidnapped, by putting a ring on his finger as he sleeps. And it made something burst in my brain because suddenly, I wanted to see them married. With AtomicPunk’s permission, I took the idea and wrote my take on it. It is, I think, one of my favorite works to this day. When I read it over, I’m just super happy with the result, for one, and just… I just love them so much. I know it might be weird to talk about it that way, because I wrote it, but this one, I felt like it came on its own, I’m rediscovering it each time, and I like it every time ahah.

November

Due date for the challenge was coming. I was on time, but with the clear impression that I was late. I experienced a small but terrifying writer block and that was the part where I absolutely HATED Until we Meet Again. It wouldn’t finish. It wouldn’t write itself. I started second-guessing EVERYTHING, every scene, and losing confidence in it, and in myself. I was persuaded no one would read it because it would be too long, and the paring wouldn’t help, and that it was too heavy for fanfiction. UWMA is not really a fanfiction. It is in the sense it uses characters that are not my own, but let's be honest, this story is not what people expect out of a fanfiction. This is a journey across serious themes, not a relaxing fix-it to read after work. BUT. Strandhai was here, cheering me up, pouring all her love into this fanfiction when I just couldn’t look at it anymore. She kept saying it was good and she puts so much energy into it that I started believing it again. And then @ophani showed us her first pics for the fic. And I could have cried. Suddenly it was even more alive, suddenly it wasn’t just words but also pictures. Suddenly it was even more of a teamwork. And the feeling was amazing! We also had the late addiction of Chastad, because as Ophani is a cosplayer, she couldn’t do all the three characters (kudos to her BF for that, though!), so Chastad came here to fill up that wish we all had to have artwork with all three. And it was amazing. I had snippets of the process and got excited for days. It allowed me to finish reading the fic over, gave me the energy to change back the things that needed changing. Like the last two sex scenes that just wouldn't come at first!!!!! And finally, the due date was here, with publication going over the whole last week of November. By that time, I had made peace with the fact this work probably wouldn’t be read a lot. To this day I’m still positively surprised it got as much recognition as it did, and I sincerely hope people will continue to read it and enjoy it!

December

Well, I can’t say much about December, but I’m participating in Secret Santa! Writing the fic for secret Santa was a pure delight. It came very easy, I like the result, and I believe I filled the giftee’s wishes so now I’m just brimming with excitation at the prospect of posting it for them!!! I’m also preparing one, maybe two surprises for Xmas and New year’s eve! So stay tuned ^^.

Overall

This was an incredible year of creativity! Not only in writing, but with drawings too. I mostly drew Kerry, because he is such an inspiration for a lot of us, but also Johnny, or the both of them. You can find the arts here.

As a token of our friendship, I sent the original drawings to Strandhai and Ophani: they now have a life of their own, out of my sketchbook and I like that a lot!

Meeting the community was also super great, I made friends here, and spent a lot of time having very funny and/or deep conversations with amazing people. So, in a word: THANK YOU, thank you cyberpunk, and thank you CDPR! It might not be perfect, but it’s a great game!! And of course, thank you fandom!!! Thank you readers for your kudos, comments and encouragements!!!

Hey everyone I don't know why I'm doing and end of the year post when I don't really have the energy to do one and it's only the 26th but I have to do it while I'm thinking about it or I never will and this one is kind of special

2021 was an alright year the good kinda balanced out the bad

I turned 28 in January and had my first chance of getting covid in the same week because of my department lead which really sucked

My 105 year old great aunt iris passed away in May which continues to break my heart because she was an awesome person and I'm really gonna miss seeing her

My 80 year old grandfather passed away in August which was complicated because he was never like a warm and friendly grandpa but he had dementia and that changed his personality so the last few times I saw him he was easier to be around and that made it really really suck

Here's the good though

I had to knock one story's word count out because I started it in November of last year and couldn't remember exactly which part of it I worked on in 2021 but between my other stories that were for sure started this year I've written over 140k words this year which is fucking insane and likely only because I write everything in Google docs now

I haven't written that much in a long time and I owe it all to not handwriting anything anymore and my love of erasermic because about 95% of that is erasermic

There's a lot of stuff I haven't shared yet that I plan to share if I ever get it finished which you can probably figure out from my pinned post what is the stuff that will be shared lmaooo

But the real biggest thing of the year is just how batshit it still is to me that anyone saw a story titled Present Mic's Totally Bullshit Life and read it

So like way back in like February or March maybe I joined an erasermic discord and IMMEDIATELT outed myself as a former Cars fanfiction writer to someone else who was online at the time and ever since then @purekesseltrash has not stopped bullying me into writing

Like legit, that was the first person who saw that story and was like 'you should absolutely post this' which led me into a downward spiral of self doubt for two months because I was absolutely writing that story for me and me alone (and there was smut in there which I never post in stories so I had to have a heated internal debate about leaving it in or taking it out and well anyone who's read it can probably nail down exactly where the smut used to be) and I really didn't think that with the ADHD writing style of just writing whatever the fuck I wanted whenever I wanted it would be anything good

And instead of anyone being like 'what the fuck is this ADHD fueled nightmare of a story why doesn't it have chapters WHY IS IT A NOVEL LENGTH ONE SHOT' everyone has fucking loved it and I'm just over here like thanks writing that was completely unplanned the only part I planned was the goddamn ending

No but seriously I'm stupid happy I got bullied into sharing it because every time I get a new comment or kudos on it I almost cry

It's the first story that was never crossposted to ff.net of mine because I held onto maining that site until 2017/2018 during my third Cars fanfic resurgence, and man. Guys.

My record for reviews/comments on a story is 34. And that's from a 16 chapter Cars fanfic called The Wreck that I wrote when I was 13 and deleted from ff.net about 4 or 5 years ago because it was so embarrassingly bad.

Present Mic's Totally Bullshit Life is only like 2 unique comments away from tieing with that AFTER 15 YEARS

And that's not including kudos and notes people have made while bookmarking and the fact that @purekesseltrash also commissioned fanart for it like????

The love people have for this story is unreal considering I'm pretty sure the inspiration came from a TikTok about mic teaching the UA students how to party like a pro hero and rereading vigilantes until I had it memorized. There's a character in there who isn't named until the end of the story who is somehow partially important. My old Cars OCs Thunder and Storm have cameo roles. I think at one point Shouta slept a full 24 hours in a row during the story. Probably. Who knows. And somehow people suffer through reading this story and love it.

But it's made 2021 so worth it because I started writing MHA fanfic after getting 75% of the way through handwriting a FNAF AU story and getting stuck, and even though I was typing MHA fanfic on my phone I had the mindset that I was just doing it for me, which made it easy to do. I wasn't really planning on posting fanfic much if at all anymore because trying to keep up with it got to be A LOT and I think part of that was how wildly involved the FNAF AU was and how little I talked about it for fear of ruining it for people on the off chance I ever finished it.

So yeah everyone thank @purekesseltrash for making me post it because god knows I've already said thanks enough. It's become a story I'm proud of and love a lot even with the little mistakes I find every time I reread it (which I do a lot lmao), and I can't wait until the next time I drop a stupidly long story with no chapter breaks and no real formula on you guys but that will be probably somewhere in the middle of next year because my writing confidence is through the roof and I'm working on way too many stories at once.

Anyways I'll stop rambling now just know that I would gladly kill for any and everyone who has read that story without question and that it's made my year better because man. I finished the last bit of that story- the literal happiest part- and posted it the week of my great aunt's funeral and that's made it honestly easier to not focus on how sad that made me.

1. Is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?

Yes, actually! Right now I'm holding off on completing my Stolen Stories.

In the previous ask I mentioned that I completed the first draft of Book One in my Stolen Stories series between May and October of 2020.

My plan was to continue with that series and write Book Two while doing the first round of edits on Book One, so that I'd be writing Book Three while sending Book One out to Alpha/Beta readers. There's a full 6 books planned for that series, so I wanted to overlap them all slightly, and then eventually publish Book One sort of around the time I started writing Book 4.

But...

When I started looking into the publishing side of actually being a self published author, the reality of the process kind of hit me a little harder than I expected.

The first time you do something, anything, you're bound to make mistakes. I only have to look back at my first story to know that and, for all my years of writing practice, I've never hit the publish button on a book.

And 'Stolen' is my baby, for lack of a better term. Stella Korazon and Reilly Mosswolf are the darlings of my heart. I'd die for them, I'd kill or them. I do not want to "practice" the art of publishing a book with their story.

So Stolen, and it's sequels are currently on hold, and that's why I'm working on the Fey Touched novels right now. That's not to say I love Lizzy and Andric and Booker any less, but I have to split my mind into author and self-publisher. As an author, I love Fey Touched just as much as Stolen, but as a self-publisher a trilogy of 90k books failing is better than a 6-book series where each book is 140k+ failing.

Fey Touched is where I will hit publish for the first time and, hopefully, discover all the mistakes I'll inevitably make so that I can more effectively promote and market Stolen, when that monster of a series is ready for the world at large.

21. What do you think when you read over your older work?

That entirely depends on how old the work is :D

If it's something I've written within the last 1-5 years, then most of the time my reaction is something along the lines of;

"Oh wow, that's pretty good."

"Damn, that's an evocative line. Did I actually write this?"

"I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PART!!"

If, on the other hand, it's something like my first manuscript from when I was age 8 or 9, my reaction is usually something closer to;

"Oh no... that's... oh dear."

"Oh gods, please tell me I didn't say that..."

"Umm... That word doesn't mean what I thought it meant..."

"Bloody hell, I'm glad no one else will ever read this."

Having said that, @faelanvance takes great delight in digging through my old manuscripts and reading them back to me aloud for my ultimate mortification :D

23. Any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?

Probably too many to fit into a single tumblr post, honestly.

I'm constantly drawing from my own life experiences to put my readers into my characters positions. I can take pain and terror or Joy and Laughter from one set of experiences and then Copy/Paste it, for lack of a better term, into a different situation, but that direct knowledge lets me bring the descriptions to life for the reader. At least, I certainly hope it does!

As for specific situations that I feel have helped my writing... Let me just pick a couple.

(A) My Terrible Health

I mentioned in the previous ask that I was born with congenital talipes. Anyone can google it if they want more information, but it's also known as club foot. As a child, all this really meant to me was that I was constantly in and out of hospitals for operations and physiotherapy and that I wasn't physically able to run, jump, climb trees, or even walk long distances without my feet and legs hurting.

Also, because of the operations I spent a great deal of time in bed, or sitting in wheelchairs, while I recovered.

None of this is said in a negative light, in fact, in terms of my writing I'm rather grateful for all that free time to sit and think and imagine. I was and am a voracious reader. I was reading Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and David Eddings' The Belgariad by myself at the age of 7 and 8. If I was only going to be allowed one book in hospital, I was going to make sure it was the longest book I could lay my grubby little hands on.

I could lay for hours on the children's ward while other patients yelled and fought over the single playstation or the jigsaw puzzles, and I could create entire worlds in my head. I could bring to life characters that could explore Middle Earth or go on adventures with Belgarath, and I only needed myself and my mind.

Books were a popular gift for me, because I was physically restricted, and then once I began picking up a pen, notebooks, journals, and fancy pens were quick to follow.

I think I would still have found writing, I can't imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't discovered this passion, but I'm not 100% sure I'd have discovered it as early as I did if I'd not been forced to stay still for so much of my childhood.

Another specific scenario that I feel really helped my confidence in my writing was my High School English teacher, Mr Reck.

I was bullied through most of my schooling, mostly for being on crutches, but this really didn't bother me. I just ignored them.

But one day we had been given a task in class, and I'd already finished, so as I usually did I pulled out my notebook and started writing a story while I waited or the next task.

One of the students thought to get me into trouble by telling Mr Reck that I wasn't doing the work. He came over, looked at my completed work, looked at what I was actually doing (writing an original story), and then told me that if I ever wanted someone to read over my writing and check it, I could always leave it on his desk during lunch... and then he calmly walked away.

This was, for 14-15 year old me, mind blowing.

I didn't care about the bullies, they really didn't bother me. I also wasn't self conscious about my writing, both my parents are and have always been strong supporters of my creative work. The reason this stood out to me at the time, and continues to stand out to me as one of the defining moments of my high school life was because it was the first time someone outside of my immediate family not only read my work, but thought it was good enough to actively encourage.

Mr Reck also got me into a writing workshop that year, that was only supposed to be available to graduating students. I've no idea how he managed it, but he did and I'll be forever grateful to him. I intend to add his name to the dedication page of the first book I publish, and I'm in the process right now of trying to track him down to send him a copy.

I think I've found him, I've just got to get the nerve up to send a private message to confirm!

If there are any teachers out there reading this though, please take note of this final story. I don't know that some teachers realise just how important one, single, non-family member showing a genuine interest in a students work can affect that students entire life.

3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

Hum. I think I write a lot of weird, niche AUs. Well, I write a lot of standard AUs too (high school/college/etc) but it is very easy to get me excited about mashup ideas or some strange canon divergence ideas and I kind of end up writing these stories that are just... I don't know, I have a hard time imagining people looking for the topic specifically. (Wrote a pandemic AU before it was cool etc.)

Other than that, when I'm trying to really hone my skills, I think I go out of my way to leave things unsaid and force the reader to read into the "negative space" which is maybe something that varies from fandom to fandom, and has just carried over as a style thing from my earlier ones.

5. What's the fic you're the most proud of?

I answered this one already but it was for a weirdass fic that nobody is gonna go read... and you know what, I'm gonna go ahead and list another one. It's called "And of His Nature" and it's another Metal Gear Solid fic (I know nobody here follows me for that, it's just what I've written the most of). It is a really short one that goes back and forth between the perspective of two characters as they make observations and judgements about the other upon first meeting and as they get to know each other, and each section is themed after one of the four elements. It's meant to have a repetitive narrative structure to sort of highlight how those initial opinions differ and change, creating a sense of contrast even as the flow of each paragraph is so similar. Someone once commented that this fic seemed "composed" rather than written, and I think that really captured the way I was trying to put the story together, so I'm glad that it read that way.

8. What character(s) do you find the easiest to write?

Any character who means to do good but is just worn out and weary. It may be because the world has been rough on them, but it's probably got more to do with the fact that they're burning the candle at three ends and have been their whole life and are starting to realize that they don't have much wick left. That can apply to a lot of my faves (haha projection much) as well as some characters I haven't written yet but would like to take a turn at (like Peter B, especially in a more serious fic?) so I guess you can say I have a type.

12. Tell us about a WIP you're excited about.

Oof, okay, so I am one of those people with some WIPs collecting dust and sometimes that's because I'm working with a writing partner and our schedules no longer line up to work on a project and other times it's just because I suck hahaaaa...

But the one I'm keen on right now is a sequel to a Big Bang fic I co-wrote with my pal 343Enderspark two years ago called "Five Years Grown". It was an Spideypool in an MCU compliant universe where we reimagined them as childhood friends, through Peter getting his powers, the events of Homecoming and Infinity War. (Yeah.) It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger for obvious reasons, but it was always planned as the first installment of a trilogy. Things have been slow on part 2, but we are trying to get it out by the end of the year (it's on track to be as long as the first one which was 140k or so), I've had a lot of fun with this one because I got to explore some other characters while Peter has been MIA, including a certain legal eagle you might know and love. Anyways, I'm really excited to develop the plot some more, we have some juicy moments planned for this one. Phanfic finder fest

Since joining the phandom, I have read so many fics that I loved. For that reason I decided to mostly rec fics that I have already read in the past, therefore they are mostly longer fics. Here we go!

1. Cold/flu/short term illness read between the lines (i will if you will) (72k) by @phanbliss  I can’t even remember how often I have read this fic. Ten times? Twenty? Might be even more than that. It’s the single most amazing phanfic I have ever read in my life. It’s also so on point with both Dan and Phil’s characteristics that I’m still certain Monika hacked into Phil’s old files and simply posted them as a fic. If you haven’t read it yet, please do. It’s brilliant, it’s art, hands down. Monika, wiesz, jak bardzo kocham twoje historie, a szczegolnie ta. Dziekuje za opublikowanie tej i kazdej innej. Jestes niesamowita, mam nadzieje, ze to wiesz.

2. Yoga Try New Things (2,2k) by @bie-lovers I just love this! It’s cute and adorable and both Dan and Phil are portrayed in a way that’s quite special, but it works so so well! (I also love the fact that they’re both just incapable of yoga. It’s very on point :D) 

3. domestic chores when i sing, you sing harmonies (46k) by @leblonde Another fic I would consider a classic, at least for me. It’s amazingly well written in a mysterious kind of way, and I love how the magic shows itself on the grand scheme, but also in the little things like the kitchenware working on its own. It changed the way I saw things, it changed the way i saw myself, and that means a lot. Simply an amazing work.

 Hope for the Good Times (1,1k) by @succubusphan It’s just a short fic, but it’s so cute and nice and the idea behind is is just brilliant. It means a lot to me, and it’s adorable and it has a cat named Satan. What more does a story need?

4. Makeup The Era of the Wingless Angel (~140k so far) by @americanphancakes Sadly I fail to keep up with this story, but it is seriously breathtaking. Admittedly, it’s not an easy read, mostly because it’s angsty af, but it’s more than worth it. The storyline is unique and different, in the best way, and Zero’s style is so, so great. You won’t regret reading it, I promise.

5. Vampire/Werewolf AU The Enemy of My Enemy Is Not My Friend and My Enemy Is Actually My Secret Lover (110k) by darkness_prince_dan I’m a sucker for Vampire/Werewolf AUs, but this one takes the cake. It’s written in a... light way, so to speak, even though some scenes should be pretty dark. Dan is just... special in this, and I love it a lot. It’s definitely worth a read if you have some time on your hands. 

6. family issues Believe in Me (85k) by @elleberquist6 The concept for this story is just amazing. It follows the old japanese folklore of Kitsunes, and that alone is enough reason to love it, even beside the fact that it’s really nicely executed. Phil is the amazing, compassionate guy we all know and love and Dan is just - different. It takes some time to figure out what’s going on, but it’s really nice learning more and more about Dan and what he is as the story progresses. Amazing work!

7. cheating antisocialites watch a wilting flower (70k) by @det395 Just an amazing story. It’s honest and serious and sometimes, almost hopeless, but there’s also cheerful moments and the most adorable scenes between Dan and Phil. There’s a lot of dogs which, let’s be honest, is always a plus, and Phil battles them all over the cuteness crown. Dan has a lot of issues, sure, but he’s working through them, and does an amazing job while doing it; and the concept along with the general style is just amazing.

8. wedding (not theirs) The Bahamas Incident (70k) by @do-it-with-the-howell-lesters Usually, fics with homophobic slurs are not exactly my piece of cake, but I still like this story a lot. The beach atmosphere is great, Cornelia is amazing, and while usually, Co-written stories tend to have a breach between styles, this doesn’t, or at least not in a bad way.

9. midnight walk Let Go Of The Reins (81k) by @natigail This is the fic I’m the most excited about. It has horses. HORSES! As a main topic! For me as a rider and horsegirl that means the world! Add the fact that it’s so well written and I’m hooked! It’s dramatic, it’s honest, it’s adorable, and it has horses!! Yes, I am kinda repeating myself, but I cannot stress this point enough. HORSES! IN A PHANFIC! Cornelia is amazing and Phil is serious but there’s a lot of character development especially for him, and it’s amazing watching (reading?) those two dorks opening up to each other, step by step.

Flight to Flight (14,6k) by me I don’t usually like my own writing, but it just fit the prompt so well I kinda had to mention it. Writing it was joy and hard work at the same time, and the topic and characters mean the world to me. If you like ski jumping, please give it a read. If you don’t, you might just get behind the joy of it.

10. WIP updated in the last month A Coat of Polish (~34k so far) by BourbonWhisky_TwoSicilies I’ve rarely seen a clash between writing style and storyline in such a positive way. The storyline is serious, maybe even dark, but the writing style contrasts it in the best possible way. I love reading it, and it’s seriously underrated. Please check it out.

AmazingSketches (~26k so far) by @philsgiggles Ohhhhhh my god. I wanted to rec this sooo bad. But it hadn’t been updated in a while and didn’t fit the criteria, so I couldn’t... But now it’s back and I can! Yey! I just LOVE this. I don’t even know what else to say. It’s so different, not only in the way it’s written, but particularly in the storyline. It breaks off the way Dan and Phil are usually “placed” in AUs like this one, and reverses it completely, while still having both of them in character. It’s remarkable and definitely worth a read.

I'm curious- is there a work that you write which is easier than others? Like, do any of your stories seem to flow more naturally or feel like less effort to work on?

oh wow yes absolutely 

like, okay. a lot of it hasto do with the way i write. i work best when i have a lot of room to workwith and to tell the story, which is why my chapters are really long and i writein multiple povs. someone recently commented they were surprised they liked an invinciblesummer because it’s rare for them to really get into a story that’s less thanten chapters long, and i was like …. it’s almost a 140k words long. what areyou saying right now. because, in spite of it’s length, it only has 6 chapters.and originally it only had 5, but then the last chapter was like 40k and thatseemed too ridiculous so i broke it up into two.

this is why never grow awishbone is just … so hard for me to write. i have a lot of plot stuff plannedout, but i’m really struggling with finding a way to get to it, because ipretty much set myself up to fail for that fic. i wanted to try writing shorterchapters, because i never had before, and it hadn’t occurred to me that HEYMAYBE THERE WAS A REASON FOR THAT. but writing only 5k is very constraining tome, and it means i end up focusing one chapter on one specific thing, ratherthan bouncing around like i like too, and i end up writing myself into acorner. this is made worse by the fact i did a single pov for this fic, inspite of knowing full well how hard it is for me to tell a long story in asingle pov. when i start writing this fic again, i’m going to have to make thechapters longer, maybe 6-8k, because otherwise i’ll go insane.

crust and sugar over is agood balance for me for chapter length, because those chapters were 8-9k, andthat’s a really comfortable place for me if i’m not doing a super long fic.with caso i struggled a lot with pacing, because i wanted this story to stay areasonable length, but the actual writing was pretty easy, i just struggledwith plotting the timeline of things.

an invincible summer wasactually very easy for me to write. my chapters were like … way too long, over20k and i think two of them were over 30k. per chapter. what was i thinking.but that had a lot of stuff going on, and outline wise, i literally did notwrite a single thing down until after i published the third chapter, so over60k into the story i was like hey … maybe an outline for the rest of it. beforethat i just kept track of and planned everything in my head.

a terrifying clamour ortrumpets was very easy to write, in spite of being a single pov fic. but thatfic was very specific to my mood at the time. i’d had the idea of ed dying oftrisha’s illness since i was like … 14. but it wasn’t until i was stuck atminimum wage job that i hated with my bright and shiny college degree and a bitof situational depression that i was like OKAY now i am ready. and i wrote most of it all at once without anoutline.

know the difference, bycomparison, was very hard for me to write with the single pov. also a lot of itwas i was talking about a lot of big concepts with that fic, and it was anangel/wing fic, and i was worried people would read it for pretty boys withwings and then be like ??? what’s all this religious body horror andpretentious bullshit??

survival is a talent ispretty easy for me to write. there are scenes that i struggle with sometimes,usually because i’m trying not to mess up my timeline, but for the most partsiat comes out easy. 15k is a good chapter length for me for long fic, althoughsometimes it runs a little over because i don’t want to cut it off in themiddle of something Dramatic happening. i know i take a while to update, and i’dhate to leave you guys on too big a cliffhanger.

build you wings on the waydown is like … the messiest fic i’ve written to date. originally, bywotwd andson of the desert were one fic. but then i realized a lot of themes and storystuff would work SO MUCH BETTER in sotd, so i incorporated them into that fic.but then that meant my original plan for bywotwd was pretty much shafted. andit took me a really long time to come up with a continuation that wasn’t a ripoff of sotd, and instead was interesting and different in it’s own right. itended up being a MUCH bigger story than i was planning on telling, as tends tohappen to me, but i really didn’t want to spend 100k on it, which is why plotin bywotwd happens at 100mph. bywotwd is like if you were making a puzzle, andhalfway through someone stole all your pieces for a different puzzle. but hey!they give you two boxes of puzzle pieces, mess them together, and tell you goodluck. so now you have to complete the puzzle using these pieces, but you can’talter the half a puzzle you already made, and the whole thing still has to makesense and show an actual picture. that’s why writing bywotwd is so hard for me.

Writing WIPs

Since it’s been a looong time since I’ve talked about my WIPs in any detail, here’s a list. And likely a Read More at some point, because I Have Thoughts (surprise, surprise) on my WIPs.

Current Active Project (published an update in the last month):

Don’t Worry, I’ll Protect You -- My Inquisitor Dorian story is active (closing in on the end of Act II now, with writing begun on Act III) and is planned for a 4 arc story.

Current Inactive Projects (planning to update in 2018):

The Tiniest Lion in Skyhold -- The ongoing saga of Tiny, Cullen’s pet tabby cat. Pure fluff for people who love both cats and Dragon Age. I do plan to update this between major projects, as it’s a fun breather between more serious works.

Fractured Thedas Tales -- My lighthearted and mostly irreverent (with occasional sobriety) take on the companions in each game. Currently only DAO is included, but I do plan to extend to DA2 and DAI. If you haven’t read these already, I’d give them a shot. Trust me.

Inactive Projects (these are on semi-permanent hiatus due to either Life or Time):

Hope for Light -- The story of my Canon Warden, Kalindra Tabris. I got about 25% through the story and then Real Life happened, and I’ve never quite gotten the mojo to go back to her, which makes me sad. I’m quite proud of her story as it is so far, but I had to put it on the back burner for several reason. I will return to her, when I have the proper mindset back (see Read More). Just not yet.

Everybody Lies -- The story of my Canon Inquisitor, Martin Trevelyan. I’ve written snippets and snoppets of his story, and even published some of them (also this one-shot aaaaand this one). However, I’ve never written his full story, though it lives in full detail in my head. Part of this is due to time, but a large part of it is... well, actually, I’ll address that in a Read More below.

The Inn Between Loads -- A very irreverent take on what happens to video game characters ‘between loads’ i.e., when they’re not in the game (usually through a scripted death). I love this series a LOT and it’s fun to write, but there’s no schedule or anticipated update.

Rise of Arlathan -- The outcome of trying to convert my long-time DA AU RP into a fic. 140k+ words later, and we only covered first 100k or our sprawling 5M+ RP epic, and interest was minimal, so we quietly stopped publishing it. For those who want to see Martin’s first appearance in my brain, check it out, but it will likely never be continued.

Projects I Will Never Publish No Matter What But Which Still Consume My Brain:

Jorath Amell: The Full Story -- Originally Written as my Evil Warden character, Jorath Amell challenged my concept that any character, no matter how evil, can be redeemed. Thus, Jorath Amell’s Full Story™ morphed into a saga so complicated that there is no possible way that even Neal Stephenson or Brandon Sanderson would be able to sell it to a publisher. I adore it in my head, but yeahno. I’ll never write it.

Kamila Hawke -- The story of my canon Hawke. Kamila’s canon ending doesn’t work at all for integration into DAI, so I probably will never write this story since I can’t make it fit with my other canon characters anymore. Still, I love my poor Kamila Hawke. (also some commentary in the Read More)

And more for those who want more info... Well, it gets wordy. ;)

My two canon babies, Kalindra Tabris and Martin Trevelyan, are also highlighted in the artwork on my blog itself (to the right). I stopped publishing stories about them for different reasons, but this seems as good a place as any to talk about it.

For Kalindra Tabris, I have tried to write more of her story in the last year or so. Unfortunately, two things have interfered in me finding my place in her head again. 1) My own dysphoria. This is already getting better, but for a while, it was very hard for me to put myself into a female mindset. I think it was temporary, based on my stage of transition and mental progress through it, but it did affect me for a while. 2) The fandom. Kalindra’s mother is Dalish, and there was a period after DAI when I got very weary of the Discourse concerning anything Dalish. Not only that, the next part of her story would have been the Dalish quest, so it compounded the problem. Now that I’ve stepped back from the fandom and carefully make sure that very little Discourse passes over my dash, I may be able to get back into it. And to love Alistair during the Blight again. Maybe.

For Kamila Hawke, it is... complicated. When I originally played Kamila, it was as a lesbian who fell in love with Aveline, and then shifted to a slightly-more-than friendship with Sebastian because they were lonely but didn’t actually want any sex--and would have felt guilty entering into a relationship with Merrill and especially Isabela on that basis. As I wrote pieces here or there, I slowly came to realize that Kamila was, in fact, asexual demiromantic transmasc (or at least that’s the best way I can describe them at current)--but when I’d conceived the character, I didn’t yet know all the words for that. I just knew that Kamila felt like in my head. Ultimately, Kamila kills Anders in a fit of anger, then later kills themself when the guilt of killing Anders drives them into a deep depression. So their story doesn’t fit in between Kalindra’s and Martin’s easily. In fact, when I write Martin’s story, it will be with an entirely different Hawke because I don’t want to change their story just to fit canon events. But Kamila will always be my canon Hawke, no matter what.

For Martin Trevelyan, it’s a little more complicated. For many people, their main OCs tend to reflect what they are or what they wish they could be. Martin was that long before I knew that’s what I was doing. So writing his story means I have to unpack my baggage from what I want his story to be, and that’s a bit more tricky than just writing his story. I’m working on it, but I can’t work on it for long periods of time due to the emotional depth of investment it needs. In addition to that, Martin makes some decisions, both in his past and in the course of game events, which Some may consider to run counter to True Heroic Actions, and I’m not sure I want to deal with the potential reaction to that when I could just enjoy his story in my head. It’s petty, I know, but it’s a fear linked deeply to anxiety and my own instinctive desire to protect a character I most closely link to myself (more as an actual son rather than an alter-ego). Still, I love his story enough that I may eventually get around to it, but again... I don’t know. I waffle on it a lot. I have literally written millions of words for Martin and various versions of him in RP and AUs of that RP, so I love writing him. It’s just hard to publish him. Ah well.

Color is a food photographer’s greatest weapon. Simply looking at any social media star of the culinary world reveals that much. Bright, saturated hues quickly demand attention and bring subjects front and center for hungry audiences. Today, even amateurs relegated to camera phones know to sprinkle vibrant greens, deep reds, and stark shades of purple and yellow to attain visually appealing foods. But things weren’t always that way. With a series comprised of less than 10 images, artist Sophie Calle revolutionized how we think about the aesthetics of our dinner plates.

The project started with a woman named Maria. In the early 90’s, Calle challenged author Paul Auster  to “invent a fictive character” whom she would  “attempt to resemble”. Maria, a photographer fascinated with the lines between fact and fiction was the result. Auster’s subsequent book, Leviathan, introduced Maria to the world. However, it was Sophie Calle that truly brought her to life through a series of exercises, which were recorded and compiled into a publication titled Double Game.

One notable eccentricity Auster assigned to Maria was the tendency to restrict her foods to a single color on any given day. In order to connect with the character, Calle recreated The Chromatic Diet in a marriage of photography and performance art. On the surface, this small series may seem a bit too conceptual for your average food shoot. Yet, it’s clear to see the influence this series subconsciously endowed on a new generation of viral Instagram artists. 

(This is exactly what I do not like at all about instagram and the constant photos taken of food. The message that the instagram influencers pass through is that IF you eat as they do, then you will stay slim, otherwise you will be fat forever. I find this message so manipulative and horrible that I refuse in primis to take pictures of food and secondly to share them in any kind of form, even for a project. The beliefs around food are so many that I really do not want to share more misinformation regarding it. What I mean is that the risk for people to read the project in the wrong way would be so high that I do not even want to go that way. I just find it disgusting, because it can cause so many issues if read by people with eating disorders such anorexia, bulimia and so on.  I refuse to cause any harm in any way. I do not want to be part of that community.)

The images themselves are simple. The food isn’t dolled up. By design, the meals even feel a bit unnatural. Nevertheless, The Chromatic Diet is a series that grabs attention. Quite simply, it’s a study of color in the form of food. The monochrome sea also forces attention to the geometry of each shot, balanced with the upmost care. It may seem counterintuitive, but the presentation and emphasis on the core elements of design make dishes as boring as an unseasoned flounder filet on a bed of white rice something worth focusing on.

Few would classify Calle as a food photographer. But her work’s merit cannot be denied. Just like The Chromatic Diet, modern food photography often features minimalistic subject matter dominated by demanding blasts of color.

Take the modern food photography of Lucy Litman, for instance. Color roots her hodge-podge collection of popular food photos. Whether she’s working with seltzer cans or hand-picked vegetables, she pairs each subject with a corresponding Pantone shade. Swatches often frame the food itself, creating stark squares against marble countertops.

David Schwen, a designer/foodie with over 140k followers on Instagram, has also been known to experiment with Pantone swatches and culinary classics. But even his more “traditional” food photos nod – intentionally or otherwise – to The Chromatic Diet. A recent series on sandwiches features the same bird’s eye angle and attention to geometric form. And, while they feature more contrast, Schwen’s images demonstrate the same understanding of color Calle flaunted two decades earlier.

Litman and Schwen are only the tip of the iceberg – a handful of artists have even gone so far as to create chromatic diets of their own! Calle’s process may have been a bit roundabout in comparison to most modern food photography. However, her willingness to step outside the lines left ripples in the way people began to think about presenting food. She looked beyond ingredients and taste.  Instead, she decided to focus on the language of color – a tongue that translates just as well into the realm of fine arts as it does the advertising sector.

Ok here is my dilemma: I got in a car accident about a week ago, the other driver is at fault. I went for the repair estimate to the agent #1, he was ready to write a check for $1500, but I was wondering how much they would pay if they totaled the car, in a couple of days I got a phone call and the agent#2 said that the vehicle is gonna be a total loss and said they would pay $2300 and take the car. I decided to just take the $1500. Agents #1 and #2 directed me to an agent #3, I explained the whole situation to him and he said he would issue $1800 if I want to keep the car BUT I would have to get a salvage title for the vehicle first due to the state law. The state law requires a person to get a salvage title if the repair cost is 75% or more of the vehicle total value. I do not want to get a salvage title for the vehicle and I told him that the original estimate given by the agent #1 was $1500, not $1800 which is less than 75%, to which he responded I believe we still had some items open when you got that estimate . he will check it and call me back. 1. Can I just lower the estimate to original $1500 so I would not have to get a salvage title for the car? Any law that allows me to lower it? 2. Will the insurance company receive any benefit if they pay me more money but I will have to salvage the car? Why do they wanna do it?""
