okay idk if i can write it but s2 911 au where buck and eddie dont resolve their issues until like. later in the season

they still get to know each other and stuff but instead, but its this begrudging acquaintanceship that both of them are trying to fight.

buck still gets to know christopher, and its the most annoying thing because this is the coolest most adorable kid that he gets to hang out with and his dad is just. the worst (he doesnt actually think eddie's the worst. he's just dealing with a lot and he's still growing and there's something about eddie that drives him crazy and he just can't figure it out)

and eddie doesnt want to spend time with someone that obviously has a problem with him. but he was the only that could drive him to pick up christopher after the earthquakes and he and christopher got on like a house on fire and christopher doesnt have any friends and he's still desperately needs childcare so now his son is hanging out with this guy who doesnt really like him and whom he doesnt really like and whatever. he's dealing

and its weird cause their main connections are the 118 and christopher. and the 118 knows there's some weird tension between the two. they work perfectly together (drift compatible chimney once said, whatever the hell that meant), and they know what the other one needs when they're on a call, but buck is still posturing and peacocking and eddie keeps replying with those one-word, cool-headed answers that drive buck insane. and the 118 tries to meddle and stuff (eddie, i promise, he's not usually like this, it would help if you actually talked to him yknow. or buck, eddie just did the sweetest thing, idk why you keep engaging him like this.)

and with christopher, its different, cause christopher isnt aware of this tension like the others are. sure, he knows that they're not the best of friends (kids can sense that sort of thing), but he always figured his dad's just quiet or whatever. but it doesnt stop him from gushing to the other about the other. so know eddie and buck have these conflicting versions of each other. the version everyone loves and treat christopher like the great parent they are and. well. the version they are to each other

anyway, this all gets resolved near the middle/end of the season. eddie comes to terms with who he is as a father and who he was as a husband. his wife dies and he's grieving, but he's recovering and he's starting to learn how to be a little bit nicer to himself. and buck is now coming to terms with abby and becoming more sure of his place in the 118. and they talk. it doesnt start out well (doesnt continue great either), but they finally just air everything out. that they respect the other and always have. that what they've done with christopher means the world to the other. that they're so good at their jobs and that they're amazing people as well. that they care about what the other thinks so much it drives them insane.

and their friendship (and then actual relationship) grows from there

I see all these Zukka and Zukki fics where Zuko is traveling with the Kyoshi warriors as his bodyguards (usually Suki & Ty Lee sometimes Sokkas also a Kyoshi Warrior, but usually he's dressed normally)

Why hasn't there been a fic with Zuko disguised as a Kyoshi Warrior? And like if to be respectful, he trained w/ them & became a member like Sokka did.

I wouldn't put it past Zuko to do so. As a character, because of Iroh's influence, he studies other fighting & bending styles to help build his own.

One of the speedsters (doesn't matter which really) is one of the few survivors of the apocalypse and he just figured out who Phantom is. He can save the world, all he has to do is go back in time and kill Danny Fenton.

I really appriciate how often Machete is depicted struggling and feeling like a burden, while still being loved and supported by Vasco. It gives the top tier angst of "i'm not good enough, I'm not worth it" but you frame it in such a way where it's clear that's just how he *feels* and is not how things really are, but also it's so nice to see someone who struggles quite often in a loving and unique relationship that suits them. The narrative of not being able to love or be loved unless you're consistently healthy is really tiring lol.

Something I think is extremely interesting thematically when it comes to connecting what Downfall and the ideas it tackled to the overarching narrative of campaign three is that the things Downfall made a point to showcase of Aeor—Cassida, Hallis, the visual of an aeormaton proposing to her partner, the specific and intentional decision to shed light on a far from insignificant amount of the population being civilians or refugees—is that it plays in perfect parallel across from what is happening (and, really, has been happening) to the ruidusborn on Exandria in present.

Bear with me for a moment. Aeor is ultimately a city that was collectively punished for the decisions of its leadership. We could (and, judging by the amount of discourse around this particular topic already, probably will) argue about what the Gods’ motivation for all of this was—whether it be that they could not, in the end, bear to kill their siblings or that they were terrified at the prospect of mortality—for me it is a very healthy dose of both—but for this I am much more interested in the latter. They were scared. That, really, is the driving force behind both this arc and their role in c3 as a whole.

Why I point this out is: It is far more interesting to me, especially as we go back to Bells Hells this week, to dissect the Gods and their decisions not purely on sympathetic motivation alone but as beings in the highest seat of power in the highest social class in Exandria.

So, having established that the Gods (in relation to mortals) are more a higher social class than anything we could compare to our real life understanding of divinity and that Aeor was eviscerated largely because of their fear—what is the difference between those innocents in Aeor caught in the trappings of their autocratic government leadership and a divine war on the ground, and those of the ruidusborn being manipulated both by Ludinus and by the very thing that inspired such visceral fear in the Gods to start with. I would argue very little.

I think of Cassida, doing what she genuinely thought was right and good and would save people, her son, and the object of her worship—and how that did not matter enough to any of them to spare her because of the fear they held at the very concept of mortality. I think of Liliana and Imogen, one of which we know begged for the gods to help her or send her a sign for years on years, and how every single one of their largest struggles could have been avoided had the gods loved them, their supposed children, as much as they feared what they could be. I think of how the thing that did save Imogen, in the end, was a woman who herself existed in direct defiance of the gods will. I think of that young boy, sixteen years old, that Laudna exalted on Ruidus.

I think it’s completely fair to judge Aeor’s overall society as deeply corrupt—it was!—but its leadership and police force are not a reflection of every one of its citizens. Similarly, it is fair to judge the Ruby Vanguard as corrupt—it is!—but its multiple heads of leadership and even the god-eater further are not a reflection of every one of its members.

Notably, and what I think the Hells will latch onto, this did not matter to the Gods. It did not matter that Cassida was trying to help. She was still too much of a risk. Will it matter, what Imogen does? Will it matter, if that young boy is in the blast radius when they decide to take no further chances?

I’ve seen a lot of people say that the Hells will side with the gods and I don’t think I agree. Especially as Imogen has been scolded and villainized over and over for daring to try and save her mother—who herself has been seen by some as an irredeemable evil in spite of her drive being the exact same—her family—but when it’s the Gods it’s justified? When it’s the Gods, it’s sympathetic? Too sympathetic to criticize further than “they’re family”?

I obviously do not think the Gods should die or be eaten or what have you, and I certainly don’t agree with Ludinus (though I find him much more compelling than just a variation of hubris wizard), but when talking about the Gods in Aeor and in present it isn’t really at all about their motivation or their family. It can’t be. Too many people, including our active protagonists, lives have been effected for it to be as cut and dry as “they’re family”. These are your children. They are your family, too.

I find it funny that Ford ONLY asked Dipper. Couldn't he have kept both of the twins in gravity falls? Like I know Dipper's his favorite but there is a high school there and he said he could homeschool Dipper, why not Mabel?

Especially considering how bad it was when he left his twin, wouldn't he of all people realize it's not the best idea

And Dipper said "what about Mabel" he could've just said "bring her too!" yk? And for the plotline of her getting ditched, that could've just been her interrupting him before he could explain fully.

tell me its not just me who wants a tangled supercorp au for 2024? kara’s handsome face as flynn ryder, the charming thief who just wants one final steal to change her fate forever and to finally accomplish her and her sister Alex dream to travel the world meets a beautiful long-lost princess stuck in a tower who leaves her somewhat speechless (also slightly unconscious) with her beauty even though she’s a little weird and has major mommy issues but the princess rapunzel aka lena just wants nothing more than just to experience the world and have at least one day of freedom to see the floating lights that she’s been dreaming of ever since she has seen them from her tower. so she strikes a deal with this thief because really, what was Lena going to lose? Except for maybe her golden crown that she really has no use for and also kara’s satchel filled with stolen jewels that she so happily took from her after banging the thief unconscious with her mighty frying pan (in her defense, what else was she suppose to do?) so she agrees and they both embark in the most exciting (for lena), excruciatingly long (for kara) journey with some singing, so much singing they try to survive their adventure making sure both of them make it with thugs chasing after Kara’s head for reward and with Lena’s mother on their tail bent of making sure to retrieve her daughter and imprison her back to her tower where she belongs while juggling Lena’s inexperience with how the real world actually works. Did I mention she has ridiculously long hair that sometimes glows when Lena sings and heals injuries? And try as she might she can’t seem to shake the princess off, Kara tried to scare Lena off and pretends she’s annoyed with how much even the littlest of things excites her but then kara kind of sort of actually finds it a little endearing? And she finds herself smiling as she watches Lena play with the town children and they braid her hair and wow she’s actually really beautiful and sweet and kara finds herself opening up to her on how she’s an orphan and sharing her real name now Kara has this sudden urge of wanting to kiss her. Dun dun dun.

I've decided the perfect Stobin au is a psych au/fusion. I don't know if I'll ever clear my plate enough to write it so let me share some world building highlights I dreamt of last night:

Steve, with his people reading skills and his ADHD brain that holds on to strange bits of information forever, accidentally convinces the Hawkins police force that he's psychic.

Robin plays his (thematic) straight man. Trading off antics and helping to fill in the gaps in Steve's knowledge base/memory

This only even happens because the temp agency placed Robin at a separate job from Steve, tragic, and he had too much time on his hands to get a crush on the local dinner guy

The local dinner guy who gets framed for a crime he didn't commit, and when Steve goes in just to provide a character witness he gets accused of being an accomplice. Somehow between this point and being released Steve convinces them he's psychic -- it's important to note even Steve is unclear on how this happens

When Robin finds out Steve has already decided they can solve this. And self employment is pretty much the only way to make sure they can work together forever and no one can separate them

Through the power of gossip, audacity, and actually doing some investigative work. Stobin do of course solve the crime

More general lore thoughts: this is an aged up au so that Steve wouldn't have to have a strained tough love relationship with his dad ala actual psych sure you could use Hopper in place of Henry but I think it's more fun to shove a newly graduated Dustin into just some kind of generic science lab. Who needs a dad for advice when you have six kids?

Every eligible lady in Hawkins is obsessed with Robin and her private eye drip, can an au that doesn't exist have a running gag?

Most crucially, regardless of any boy or girl crushes, this is an au about stobin getting into antics. Steve tapping in to his inner theater kid while Robin nods sagely in the back. Robin asking the most uncomfortable question a person has ever asked another human while Steve smiles and gaslights them into believing its acceptable. Steve and Robin paying themselves to hang out all day and yeah maybe along the way they solve a murder if they're up to it, who knows they've got a lot planned
