Stop with the "shoot first and ask questions later" heroes. Gimme more heroes who don't attack the villain without thinking. Heroes who want to know more things about the villain, to discover why that villain turned into a villain. Gimme heroes who are willing to give villains a second or a third chance and they actually make an effort to redeem them. Gimme heroes who don't justify the villain, but they understand them.

Stop with the "evil, cruel, emotionless and merciless" villlains. Gimme more villains who care about their henchmen. Villains who'll do anything (good or bad) for their loved ones (wife, husband, children...) Villains who care about innocent people getting hurt. Villains who can empathize with the hero. Villains who "want" to hurt the hero but not to make them suffer (They could also not want to hurt them but do it either way because the heroes are in their way. That doesn't mean they would want to shatter them). Villains who are able to recognize when they have gone too far. Villains who have a moral event horizon, a line they wouldn't cross no matter what.

Stop with the "girl who wants two boys to break up" thing. Gimme more girls who are happy of them being together. Gimme more "They're kinda hot/cute together ngl" girls. Gimme more girls who help the two boys to be each other's partner. Gimme more girls who aren't jealous of their relationship.

Stop with the "straight hero with a crush" thing. Gimme more LGBT heroes. Boys falling in love with other boys. Girls falling in love with other girls. Heroes falling in love with whoever they want, not caring about their gender. Heroes falling in love with no one because they're not interested in romance or in sex. Heroes who are trans women or trans men. Heroes who don't identify as female or male. Heroes who identify as both.

Stop with the "female love interest whose life is only centered in her relationship with the hero" thing. Gimme more independent women who doesn't want to have romantic relationships. Gimme more women who rejects the hero because they don't feel the same. Gimme more women who doesn't follow her crush everywhere because "they're in love with them".

Stop with the "villain and hero hating each other until their deaths" thing. Gimme more enemies to lovers and more enemies to friends stories. Gimme more stories where they're forced to work together. Where the villain rescues the hero because deep down they care about them getting hurt. Stories where their relationship goes from enemies to reluctant allies to frienemies to friends. Stories where the two of them accept they're similar. Where they balance each other, just like ying and yang.

Stop with the "villains dying after redeeming" trope. Gimme more villains who redeeem and live. Villains who join the heroes and have to learn to fix their past mistakes. Villains who have nightmares because of their past. Villains who apologize to the heroes for hurting them. Villains who are protective of the heroes. Villains who make the heroes understand they don't have to be "strong" all the time. Villains who help the heroes to heal their wounds, physical or emotional. Villains who decide to be compassionate with other villains because they know it isn't too late to change.

Stop with the "strong hero who doesn't cry" trope. Gimme more heroes who show their anger, their fear, their pain, their humanity. Gimme heroes who aren't afraid to cry. Heroes who actually cry. Heroes who eventually break because everything is too much. Heroes who snap in front of someone, no matter who it is (the villain/their enemy, their rival, their best friend, their lover, their parents...). Heroes who not only cry but scream or have a panic attack, because the pain is unbearable. Heroes who don't want to worry their family/friends and they break in front of the redeemed villain (because they already saw them in their lowest point).

Rest in Peace Big Hero 6 AU (2023-2023)

Okay so basically. I was watching Big Hero 6 one day and then I decided to make a Linked Universe AU about it. Hold up I have to find all my old posts about it

Okay I found them

Characters

Wind was Hiro. As the de facto leader of the group, he used the theories of Aerodynamics and wind-related stuff to fly around and fight, and was Rulie’s main handler (gosh i hate using that term but what else was i supposed to call it? his owner? that sounds like slavery) and best friend, and laid claim to Hiro’s impulsivity and nerdiness.

Four originally split Hiro's role with Wind, but I ended up changing that later. He preferred to stay behind while the others do their fighting and backed them up remotely, giving them updates from the ground and aiding them with inventions of his. He also built the minishbots (like the microbots in the canon movie). He and Wind used to do Bot Fighting together- Four would build the bots and Wind would enter and control them. They were best friends and inseparable. (Four is 2 years older.)

Wars was Tadashi (yeah sorry he died) and Wind's biological older brother (it was an au i could do what i wanted). When he was Wind’s age, he was also into Bot Fighting, so he understood Wind's obession with it a little more than Canon Tadashi, but he still didn't approve (because of the violence he saw in the competitors). He was studying to enter the army as a military nurse, and, sharing Wind's mechanical genius, built Hyrule (short for Hyrule Medical Droid) to be a field nurse to avoid endangering the lives of human medics. Rulie was his prototype.

Rulie was Baymax, chosen because of his penchant for healing magic. In this AU, he was an android built by Wars before his death, designed as the prototype for a line of Robotic Army Field Nurses made to reduce the risk of sending human medics onto battlefields. He was more human-looking than Baymax, but wind upgraded him with extra human-y features (like silicone skin and fiberglass eyes) so that Malon wouldn't get suspicious. He and Four were able to convince her that Rulie was a friend from school who needed a place to stay as he was from out of town. Wind was not his “pilot” per se, like Hiro is to Baymax in canon, rather they fought in conjunction in some way. I was orking on it but then I abandoned the AU, so.

Malon was Aunt Cass. She was married to Time (who… has more information below) and was kinda FURIOUS when she found out that her husband wasn’t actually dead and that he was the dangerous criminal who threatened to tear Central Hyrule apart (and, also, you know, that he let one of their nephews die but moving on). It actually put their marriage in jeopardy for a time, so there was actually a post-canon plan for a slowburn lovers to enemies to reluctant allies to friends to lovers again side arc for them. She was also not as oblivious as Canon Aunt Cass to her nephews’ and their friends’ secret identities and knew that something was going on. However, she was in the dark about Rulie being an android. 

Twi was Wasabi. He couldn't turn into a wolf in this AU but his science field was the study of Twilit Matter (sorta like… a magic version of real-world dark matter), and he had built devices that allowed him to manipulate the Twilit Matter around him, usually into blades. Twi had always seemed like the most lawful good of all the Links and while rewatching the movie that made me think he’d line up well with Wasabi’s slightly neurotic personality (which i can relate to, being a lawful good myself). I said earlier that he couldn’t turn into a wolf, but he loved dogs, and another one of his favorite Twilit Matter manipulations was a giant wolf that he used to attack from range.

Legend was Go Go. His special area of science was the study of taking archaic technologies and trying to update them for modern usage, and his favorite project was a reinterpretation of Pegasus Boots. The parallel for this might be kinda obvious because both Legend and Go Go were the snarky, sarcastic ones of their respective teams, but I also wanted to keep in mind that Legend has a special friendship with Wars and Rulie (albeit in different ways) and so in this AU he actually helped Wars build and design Rulie, giving tips on medical assets based on the ancient healing magic of fairies. He was the human that Rulie is closest to outside of Wind and Wars.

Sky was Honey Lemon, because they’re both sweet mom friends. The main difference was that Sky was a Biochemist instead of a Chemical Engineer. So instead of throwing balls that produce a tangible chemical reaction, Sky’s actually synthesized hormones that affected his targets on a neurological level. But he had to be careful about his precision because the hormones could end up affecting him or his team if he wasn’t, so he also had several small mechanical Loftwings that homed in on his target by reading their chemical signature.

Wild was Fred. He studied Ancient Sheikah technology- sort of like Legend but on a narrower spectrum- and ended up successfully building himself a freaking Ancient Sheikah Mech Suit, to pair with Fred’s in-canon dragon-mascot suit. Also because Fred’s main thing is fire and we all like to joke about Wild being an arsonist :P As for the whole “Fred is secretly dirty freaking rich” thing, Wild was currently living with his best friend Flora, who was the daughter of the Mayor of Central Hyrule (by the way, even though i am a zelinker until i die, in this au, he and Flora were cousins and there was no romance between them ever). 

Time was the equivalent of professor Callaghan, trying to save his young cousin, Navi, from the trans-dimensional portal where she was trapped. He was actually Malon’s husband and therefore the uncle of Wars and Wind, and was the favorite teacher of Twi, Legend, Sky and Wild when he taught at Central Hyrule Technological Institute. UNLIKE in BH6 canon, he had no idea that Wars ran into the burning school to try to save him and felt incredibly guilty over his death, because even if I started him off as a villain he was still my favorite Link and I wasn't gonna turn him into some psychopath who let his nephew DIE on PURPOSE. Anyway, during his villain arc he wore the Fierce Deity mask, which was how he was able to control Four’s minishbots. In this AU, however, after his villain arc he (reluctantly, and i didn't figure out how the others started to trust him again) ended up joining forces with the boys and trying to fix his marriage with Malon. He never quite got over losing Navi AND Wars and ended up becoming quite overprotective of the boys once he did join them.

I will also link the original draft of the first chapter, back from when Wind and Four still shared a role as Hiro. It was a really cool concept in my opinion but I just. Ran out of steam for it.

kid fic is. listen. the author is walking a tightrope. my tolerance for that being 'off' (no, i can't define 'off') is extremely narrow

more arranged marriage fics where the characters know what they're getting into, please! i've read at least one where the viewpoint character was just kinda "¯\_(ツ)_/¯" about the whole thing bc she knew it was gonna happen so she just went into it with no expectation of a wonderful marriage and then gradually realizes her husband... seems like an okay guy, actually. maybe... someone she could like?? or... maybe even... more???

i've probably written more magic aus than sci-fi, but i have written both and sci-fi interests me more

1. What was your first OTP?

Rufy/Nami from One Piece. At eight I was obsessed with that anime, and I still ship them. Yes, I know Oda-sensei said he wouldn't put any romance in OP, but still, a girl can hope.

Another ship that caught my fancy when I was very, very young is Harry/Hermione (obviously from HP). Yep, I was a Harmony shipper; no, now I don't care at all about which side "won", but I'm still quite fond of them, for nostalgia's sake.

Last but not least, Vegeta/Bulma from Dragon Ball. I was ten when I watched the Sayan saga for the first time; it was transmitted on Italian national tv, and back then I had no access to Internet and streaming devices, obviously. (Great, now I feel old lol.) So I used to wait with bated breath for each episode, and I crushed so hard on Vegeta (I think he was my very first villain crush?), and I rooted for his redemption and for Vegebul to happen. Guess what? Toriyama-sensei's visionary mind really set him up with his main female lead, and from a genocidal alien prince he developed into a devoted husband and father (albeit still grumpy as hell). Needless to say, it was a very formative experience lol.

2. What is your current OTP?

The main pairings from my two original projects (they're both antivillain/hero ships btw). Also Batjokes, probably Reylo (even though I'm so unhappy about their resolution in TROS, u g h), Dong-Hoon/Ji-An from My Ahjussi (a beautiful Kdrama), Erik/Meg from The Phantom of the Opera (my favorite rarepair; you already know it, Fish, but for the people who have been following for a short time… don't ask)... and I guess that's it. I have a lot of long time favorite ships (Valduggery from the Skulduggery Pleasant series, Jaime/Brienne from ASOIAF, etc.), but these are currently on top of my mind more than any other.

4. What is/are your favorite trope(s)?

Enemies to lovers, obviously. There's no trope I love more, really, in any shape. My favorite is probably this one: "they're a monster and I'd kill them with my bare hands/ugh now we're forced to work together if we want to save our skins and/or defeat a common enemy so I guess in the meantime we'd have some talks while for once we aren’t actively try to slit each other's throat/actually we're so similar it's scary and I don't like this/they stand against everything I believe in but I kinda mourn the person they used to be or could be/I guess they're… tolerable when they are not actively trying to ruin my and everyone’s life and also I kinda respect them for being a Worthy Enemy/remember when I said I didn't like that we are so similar? I lied I don't want to like it but oops I actually do/idk exactly how we became kinda friends but well now I care and can't turn back/shit this might be more than just care/why them??? ffs why them?" and so on. (As you see, it’s pretty specific lol.) I mean that epic, beautiful romance of Enemies to Reluctant Allies to Maybe Friends to BFFs to Lovers. It's hard to pull off, but when it's good, it's good.

I love any other iteration of this trope, too: friends to enemies to lovers, lovers to enemies to lovers again, enemies with benefits… anything, really.

I also love Beauty and the Beast/Monster Romance, Villainous Crush, Death and the Maiden, Mutual Pining, Slow Burn, Arranged Marriage (exclusively when they're enemies tho 👀👀), Hurt/Comfort (a classic), Huddling for Warmth, and Stranded Together (again, especially when they're enemies). I also like the Amnesia trope, but 1. I tend to like it more when the amnesiac character is a former villain, a la Revan in Knights of the Old Republic (imagine the angst!), and 2. it must be well-executed and pivotal to the character's development (that's why it works better for villains), otherwise it's just useless drama and at worst a soap opera-ish retcon (see Vanya in The Umbrella Academy's season 2).

19. Do you prefer fluff, angst, or smut for your ships?

ANGST, with a side dish of fluff. I live for the drama, but I usually prefer a happy or bittersweet ending (it depends on the genre). I love reading about/writing more lighthearted, witty dialogs, where both characters are just happy to be… you know, together, and enjoy each other's company. I like (very much like) smut only when it goes with character/relationship development; the ~sexy times~ are usually what I care about the least in a fic lol. tl;dr: I don’t mind smut, but I don’t actively seek it either.

Shigadabi aside, dabi/geten is actually not bad. Like, if you’re looking for angst, that one’s bound to be full of it. She looks kinda like his mom too, assuming dabi=touya, so that’s potentially a catalyst for all of his anger/abandonment issues.

Okay so hot take I guess, but I really really really don’t think Geten and Rei look alike. Like, absolutely not at all.

Sure they both have “generic anime woman face” but if we go down that road then Geten also looks like Shigaraki’s mom or Mrs Joke. And if we go for the details, their eyes are completely different, and their hairstyles look nothing alike except for the fact they both have long straight hair and like ... half of the girls in this manga have that hairstyle.

Also, we don’t have Geten’s colour scheme yet, so for all we know she could have green skin and pink hair. So really, the only similarity is ice power, which could indeed be something, but it’s nearly not enough for me.

I probably sound quite salty right now and I apologize. I’m just really tired of seeing people make absolutely everything about Dabi all the time when he is just a glorified extra at this point. Before Geten’s face was revealed there was this theory going around about how Geten was probably Natsuo, which made no sense at all. And now it changed into “Geten looks like Rei so we’re gonna get some Dabi focus”. Here’s an idea: let Geten be a badass feral non sexualised female villain without making it all about the undeveloped goth.

And just to clarify: even though it probably doesn’t sound like it, I’m genuinely super down for Dabi and Geten having a cool relationship, romantic or friendship or reluctant allies. I just don’t want Geten to be a tool for Dabi’s man pain. She has her own shit going on, and she can be developed as her own character. 

So yeah. But I’m super down for Dabi and Geten having a “from enemies to rivals to friends/lovers” dynamic based on the fire/ice thing. I am absolutely not down for Geten being used for sad boy Dabi headcanon because she lowkey looks like his mom.

Also, someone on Tumblr made a pretty good case for Geten/Shigaraki and so now I’m much more interested in this ship rather than Dabi/Geten to be perfectly honest.

Linked Universe Big Hero 6 AU Notes

NOTE: This is based mainly on the Big Hero 6 MOVIE, with some references to the animated series and very few, if any at all, nods to the original comics. Thank you for understanding.

Wind and Four, in conjunction, are Hiro. Wind is the de facto leader of the group, using the theories of Aerodynamics and wind-related stuff to fly around and fight, and is Rulie’s main handler (gosh i hate using that term but what else am i supposed to call it? his owner? that sounds like slavery) and best friend, and he lays claim to Hiro’s impulsivity and nerdiness. Four, then, is the personification of Hiro’s mechanical genius. He prefers to stay behind while the others do their fighting and backs them up remotely, giving them updates from the ground and aiding them with inventions of his. He also built the microbots. He and Wind used to do Bot Fighting together- Four would build the bots and Wind would enter and control them. They’re best friends and inseparable. (Four is 2 years older.)

Wars was Tadashi. When he was Wind’s age, he was also into Bot Fighting, so he understands a little more than Canon Tadashi, but he still doesn’t approve (because of the violence he saw in the competitors). Before his death, Wars was very close with Wind. He was studying to enter the army as a military nurse, but he shared Four’s mechanical genius and thus built Hyrule (short for Hyrule Medical Droid) to be a field nurse to avoid endangering the lives of human medics. Rulie was his prototype.

Rulie is Baymax, chosen because of his penchant for healing magic. In this AU, he is a droid built by Wars before his death, designed as the prototype for a line of Robotic Army Field Nurses made to reduce the risk of sending human medics onto battlefields. He is more human-looking than Baymax, but Four upgrades him with extra human-y features (like silicone skin and fiberglass eyes) so that Malon won’t get suspicious. He and Wind are able to convince her that Rulie is a friend from school who needs a place to stay as he’s from out of town. Wind is not his “pilot” per se, like Hiro is to Baymax in canon, rather they fight in conjunction in some way. I’m working on it ok

Malon is Aunt Cass. She is married to Time (who… has more information below) and is kinda FURIOUS when she finds out that her husband wasn’t actually dead and that he was the dangerous criminal who threatened to tear Central Hyrule apart (and, also, you know, that he let one of their nephews die but moving on). It actually puts their marriage in jeopardy for a time and uh let me warn you that it’s gonna take a long time to repair that, so Malink shippers get ready for a slowburn lovers to enemies to reluctant allies to friends to lovers again side arc for them. She’s also not as oblivious as Canon Aunt Cass to her nephews’ and their friends’ secret identities and knows that something is going on. However she is in the dark about Rulie being an android. 

Twi is Wasabi. Okay he can’t turn into a wolf in this AU but his science field is the study of Twilit Matter (sorta like… a magic version of real-world dark matter), and he has built devices that allow him to manipulate the Twilit Matter around him, usually into blades. Twi has always seemed like the most lawful good of all the Links and while rewatching the movie that made me think he’d line up well with Wasabi’s slightly neurotic personality (which i can relate to, being a lawful good myself). I said earlier that he can’t turn into a wolf, but he loves dogs and another one of his favorite Twilit Matter manipulations is a giant wolf that he uses to attack from range.

Legend is Go Go. His special area of science is the study of taking archaic technologies and trying to update them for modern usage, and his favorite project is the reinterpretation of Pegasus Boots. The parallel for this might be kinda obvious because both Legend and Go Go are the snarky, sarcastic ones of their respective teams, but I also wanted to keep in mind that Legend has a special friendship with Wars and Rulie (albeit in different ways) and so in this AU he actually helped Wars build and design Rulie, giving tips on medical assets based on the ancient healing magic of fairies. He is the human that Rulie is closest to outside of Wind and Four and Wars.

Sky is Honey Lemon, because they’re both sweet mom friends. BUT beyond that, I’m really not sure how to connect any of his traits to Honey Lemon’s in-canon ability. If you have any suggestions, please feel absolutely free to drop them off in my inbox! I’d really appreciate it.

Wild is Fred. He studies Ancient Sheikah technology- sort of like Legend but on a narrower spectrum- and ends up successfully building himself a freaking Ancient Sheikah Mech Suit, to pair with Fred’s in-canon dragon-mascot suit. Also because Fred’s main thing is fire and we all like to joke about Wild being an arsonist :P As for the whole “Fred is secretly dirty freaking rich” thing, Wild’s currently living with his best friend Flora, who is the daughter of the Mayor of Central Hyrule (since Wild is in love with Mipha in LU Canon, we’ll say that he and Flora are cousins in this AU and there was no romance between them ever). 

Time is the equivalent of professor Callaghan, trying to save his young cousin, Navi, from the trans-dimensional portal where she was trapped. He is actually Malon’s husband and therefore the uncle of Wars, Four and Wind, and was the favorite teacher of Twi, Legend, Sky and Wild when he taught at Central Hyrule Technological Institute. UNLIKE in BH6 canon, he had no idea that Wars ran into the burning school to try to save him and feels incredibly guilty over his death, because even if I’m starting him off as a villain he’s still my favorite Link and I’m not gonna turn him into some psychopath who lets his nephew DIE on PURPOSE. Anyway, during his villain arc he wore the Fierce Deity mask, which was how he was able to control Four’s microbots. In this AU, however, after his villain arc he (reluctantly and I’ll have to figure out how the others start trusting him again) ends up joining forces with the boys and trying to fix his marriage with Malon. He never quite gets over losing Navi AND Wars and ends up becoming quite overprotective of the boys once he does join them. 

Yeah so that’s all I have so far but when I figure stuff out with Sky I’ll end up posting that. I love Honey Lemon and I love Sky and I want to make him work but I need ideas for how so. Just. Help, if you can. Thanks for reading!
