The french dub of Sonic Underground (1999) was better than the english one and here's why.

Here's a rant that no one asked for (and that probably no one will read in its entirety or at all), but I still wanted to write about it. I used to date a guy who said that the english dub of Sonic Underground was better than the french one and that is just inacceptable.

If you don't know what it is, Sonic Underground is an animated series made by both France and the United States in 1999 and was first aired in France in January, then the USA in August. It follows the adventures of Sonic and his siblings, Sonia and Manic, while they are trying to find their mother and also defeat the evil Robotnik who rules over their city. Each episodes features it's own original song. Even though this series wasn't really appreciated by Sonic fans, I personally loved it as a kid as it was one of the few series you could find for free on YouTube that was fully available in French back then (sadly, it doesn't seem to be anymore).

Now here are my arguments:

1. The jokes were funnier in French

Now, for anyone who speaks French as a first language, you know that's rarely the case. But for Sonic Underground, it just is. One exemple in particular just stuck with me, in episode 02:

There's this one moment where Sonic, Manic and Sonia find a cloak that look's like it could be their mother's. Then Sonic says that there was something wrong with it. It's then that Louvois (Sleet in English) shows up and, in the French dub, basically says like the absolute troll that he is : ''maybe it's because the label is in English''. Then the screen shows how, on the label it's written in English how the cloak is actually owned by Sleet. I just found little jokes like that so freaking funny, it's unbelievable. In the english dub, Sleet just boringly says that there's something wrong with the tag. Boring.

2. The songs sound better

This is entirely my own personal opinion, but I think that the songs in Sonic Underground sounded better in French. I just think that the songs rhymed better in French. A first exemple could be the intro song that, while similar, still sounded quite different. I liked the French version better, but I might just be biased on this one. It just sounds so dramatic, I love it.

Then there's my favorite song from this show. I really think that the French version of this song was done better than in English and that's something so freaking rare in dubs. From the same episode mentionned earlier, the song in French was called Fréquence copains, while, in English, it's Have you got the 4.1.1? To be honest, I have no clue what the 4.1.1 is. Still, I think it sounds better in French.

Something else that I discovered while searching videos to back up my claim for this rant is one song that, in French, is called Comme au temps des acadiens, while in English it's Let the good times roll. If you don't know who the Acadians are, they were Fench speaking people living In what was called Acadia, who later on mostly became Nova Scotia. After Britain won some territory over France, they took over Acadia and basically decided they didn't want the people already living there to stay there anymore. But it's not like Acadians could just go to France, by that time, the acadians people had been living there for quite a few generations and didn't really thought themselves as French people. They had their own identity. So Britain decided to clear out their houses so English people could live there and deported them towards the 13 colonies while also separating families so that they wouldn't keep their language or something (i'm going off from my high school history classes and museums on acadians in Nova Scotia, guys, this is what I basically remember). Many tried to go back to their homes in Acadia, but many were unsuccesful. In any case, here's the song:

3. The terrible choices for the voice actors (BASICALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT I HAVE)

Here is my last point and also my most important one. I fully believe that the English dub of Sonic Underground wouldn't have been as terrible if it wasn't for that one decision. In the 90s, the established voice for Sonic in animated series was Jaleel White. He already voiced Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), so for continuity's sake, it wasn't a bad choice to recast him in Sonic Underground. The problem came when it was decided that he would also voice Sonia and Manic. I guess for Manic, it's not too bad. The problem really came with Sonia. His voice as Sonia is what made the show unbearable for me to watch in English. I found it even worse when he had to sing with the high pitch weird voice of Sonia. It was just terrible. I wonder who thought THAT would be a good idea? Luckily, they didn't do that in the French dub. They actually casted three different people for the siblings. Sonic was voiced by Olivier Korol, Manic (and also Knuckles) was voiced by Philippe Bozo and Sonia was voiced by Patricia Legrand. And thank god for Patricia Legrand. I think her voice suited perfectly Sonia. Not only did she have a really nice singing voice, but her voice also suited perfectly her character who was a noble lady. Patricia Legrand made her character sound like she actually came from a higher class, which I think was really nice.

ahhhh, tbh I used to be against the idea of him showing up in the show. Because I feel like the show not gonna do him justice ( /_>\) (seriously, if he shows up and doesn't get treated seriously by the show at all. I'd evaporate on the spot.)

But! It'd be cool if we get like multi-episodes about him. Especially with how Jerry has changed so much, I would love to see how he would react to Doofus Jerry now T_T

Doofus Jerry's story in the comic was a self-contained series. So if he appears, could it be another big evil arc like Prime and Evil Morty? or just one story episode? (for me, just him showing up like an easter egg is enough to make me happy lol)

Will it ever happen? Uh........ at least not in S7 & 8 I think. I mentioned in the past that they never referenced the comic in the show only the other way around, turns out that I was wrong! They did! (According to the Wiki)

Okay, after this. it'll get a little long

A lot of people seem to think this scene from S3E7 after Evil morty won the election could be a small reference to Doofus Jerry. since The comic came out on January 25. while "The Ricklantis Mixup" aired on September 10 of the same year. then again the animation process is a long process and this line could be recorded long before Doofus Jerry's comics came out. And he might just say this to mock Morty (besides Jerry rent-free in Ricks's mind 24/7)

Another example is Glootie. he appeared in the comic first before appearing in "The Old Man and the Seat". but then the Season 4 promo dropped around that time. so it could just be the a promo thing.

lastly, and most interesting to me is The Vindicators. There is a comic about them in 2018 that features some new characters, which was redesigned and used in the mini-series in 2022!

(there is more. But I'm not putting all of that)

Sorry for the long blabbing! What I am saying is that they do reference the comic from time to time. Maybe when they are interested enough, they might make an episode about him!

4: What piece of media inspired you the most?

Well! This is a fun question. I'm going to say Disney's Descendants (I don't know if you've watched it?). Completely out of the blue earlier this year, I was struck with an intense bout of love for Descendants that reminded me that I am absolutely obsessed with Descendants, so I then wrote a small fic and rewatched the first move and spent two months being absolutely insane (and also had COVID at the same time). Looking back I think this was brought on by my May-Jun exams, because the same thing is happening now as my Jan exams approach. Such is life, alas.

I'm going to cheat and give you two more answers, too - in the summer, I read Frances Hardinge's Deeplight (an absolutely fantastic book, I definitely recommend it) and then wrote my junhao fic. I also read Garth Nix's Frogkisser! (another brilliant book) and have since been thinking very deeply about my batkisser wip.

5: What fandom(s) did you write for this year?

So! This year I actually wrote for quite a few fandoms! I had to go back and check, but it's actually been quite a good year of writing, and I've managed to post fics for four fandoms in total: I wrote three fics for Stray Kids (one of which Versity and I wrote together), one fic for Miraculous Ladybug, one for Descendants and (finally, as I've been meaning to finish a wip since 2018) one fic for SEVENTEEN.

23: Share the final version of a sentence or paragraph you struggled with. What about it was challenging? Are you happy with how it turned out?

Since I'm in a Descendants mood, I'll share a bit from my Carlos fic - while I was writing this fic, I discovered that all my previous kiss scenes have had a pattern of not saying much about the actual physical kiss itself - it's all stuff like people discovering what other people's smiles feel like against their mouths, which is all well and good, but I wanted to work on that. Originally, this kiss scene was just going to be 'And Carlos discovered that he hadn't read it wrong at all,' which was perfectly serviceable (in fact, I kept it in the fic, in the paragraph right above the following one), but I wanted to write something that wasn't just "and then they maybe kissed." This might be a good time to mention I've never kissed anyone on the lips. Anyway. This paragraph was a bit of a struggle, but I think I did well enough in the end! It was definitely a good start, in any case.

Jay’s fingers find their way into his hair — gently, far more gentle than Carlos thought was possible — and Jay’s tongue is trying to find its way into his mouth, hot and persistent against his lips (it’s a bit much for this kiss, Carlos’ first kiss with asking and explanations and kissing-just-for-kissing, so he keeps his mouth firmly shut until Jay gets the hint, but it’s exhilarating all the same), and Jay’s other hand finds its way from his shoulder to the notch at his waist, and Evil, this might be the best thing to ever happen to him.

30: What's something you want to write in 2024?

Oh, what a question. I'd like to say Every WIP I Have, but I'll start with some of my most recent ones: the junhao batkisser one, the hyunho owls one, the hyunho catboys catfight one, the jeongho mommy issues one, the soonhoon fairies one (and the likely junhao sequel), the junhao where jun keeps leaving and also there's magic and baby seungkwan, the hyunho camera one and, finally, i'd like to iron out the details and actually star my junhao call off your dog one. Gosh. What a long list. Good luck to me. Oh! And the fic I'm writing with Versity, which we have both abandoned for the time being as, unfortunately, we are both very busy.

@violasmirabiles tagged me to list five favorites out of my own fics, thank you for the opportunity! (I got the tag maybe two months ago but my relationship with ao3 has been kind of rocky and distant lately, so)

I chose to base my choices on ~vibes~ and the happiness writing them has brought me.

The numbers are just for keeping track, these are not in any particular order.

Father Cristiano’s Redemption (football rpf). This historical AU multichapter was such a ride to write and I learned so much doing my research on topics like WW2 bombings on Wales, post-war Britain, education and clothing of Roman Catholic clergy, horse-drawn farm equipment, recruitment practices of the French Foreign legion... I listened to such eclectic music as inspiration, from hymns to Eva Dalhgren and Nightwish to The Rolling Stones and Manic Street Preachers. I felt and I still feel confident and proud in my storytelling, the world-building of my AU (rural post-war Welsh village with flashbacks and cuts to other places in Europe) and my characterization. It's one of my earliest works, from the mid part of my short-lived football rpf writer era but it's still very vivid and visual in my mind. I like how the wide ensemble works, too.

Minä suojelen sinua kaikelta / Midnight in Paris (hockey rpf) I have written whole ass inspiration music posts for this hockey rpf story before it was even finished. It's the rarest of my rare pairs, I'm the only one who has written them on Ao3, and is't it an achievement that the English version, a fic with a Finnish liiga grinder as the main POV character has 898 hits and 49 kudos on Ao3? It is! This is one of my faves because I love Savinainen so deeply, and whenever I get back to this fic I feel that my characterization of him is so good. And the short POV shift to Sepe works well.

camera ready (hockey rpf) My flagship. Which means I peaked in 2019 which is kinda sad considering it's 2023 now. But anyway, this porn AU ran from January to August 2019 with about weekly updates. It's my longest and most read, most kudos'ed and most commented work. It has also attracted a large number of lurkers who have later told me privately that they're absolutely into the AU despite never leaving the mark in the kudos or comment sections. (And that's okay! Everybody has the right to have their own standards or comfort levels when it comes to public engagement with writing. That said, after the inevitable sequel slump of the next part of the series, money shot, I haven't felt like returning to the AU even though I have been tempted to, I still love the characters and their world.)

Summer Kisses (hockey rpf) I love writing summer in Oulu. Northern Finnish summer skies are just... all of this. I also love writing the wholesome all-star charity golf gentlemen having hot sex. This is a true combination of serene calm ambience and just... indulgent filth. I love dwelling in this story.

This is where I'd normally put my forever fave, the cornerstone of my hockey writing Jussi at Jussi's but this one is one of my favorites and I didn't want to leave it out. It's porn, it's very dirty and evil and sometimes it's just fun to make something so wrong work so very right.

Nurse!Reader x Carlos Oliveira & Nikolai Zinoviev Headcanons

A/N: (Everyone’s a touch OOC as I doubt either one would willingly drag a civilian along, albeit for different reasons: Carlos because once you’ve been escorted to safety, you’re no longer his immediate concern; Nikolai because he was never all that interested in saving civilians, to begin with, but let’s say you’re just so darn cute/special that you alter canon circumstances, okay? Okay. Also, all of them survive RE3 in this, so yeah.)

When shit starts hitting the fan, you don't panic immediately. After all, you work in a hospital, what better place to be during a pandemic, right? 

Wrong! Oh so wrong. 

You see the effects of the T-virus up close and personal, and it’s not pretty. Prior to this point, you thought such viruses only existed in science fiction or cheesy B-grade horror movies. But here it was in your workplace, quickly overcoming all quarantined forces, hospital staff, and security. 

So you flee. You leave through a back exit and get the hell out of dodge, or at least, the center of dodge. You soon find, however, that it’s not just the hospital that’s overrun, but the city as well.

Maybe that’s how you meet them…

Carlos:

He swoops in and saves you from a hoard of zombies, looking like an A-list action star as he does it. (It’s the hair- it’s incredible.)

He tells you his platoon is rounding up survivors in the subway, that it’s a temporary shelter until they can get the trains up and running again. That he and his teammates were sent in to get everyone safely out of the city. You’re not sure if you believe this plan, but you follow him eagerly as he leads you to the subway. 

On the way, you tell him who you are. When he finds out you’re medical personnel, he’s both impressed and relieved. He tells you his captain has been injured, and they haven’t come across a doctor or nurse that hasn't already been infected. You of course offer to help in any way your can. (Because you’re awesome like that.)

You’re not surprised when he tells you he’s working with Umbrella because you also work with Umbrella as a hospital employee. But to you, they’re a pharmaceutical company, why would they need military personnel? It doesn't sit right with you, but Carlos is an absolute sweetheart. (I mean the man is cracking jokes in the middle of the apocalypse.) So you trust the guy.

Carlos does his best to assure you you’re not a burden or some sort of unwanted weight when you first arrive at the subway car. Mainly, because he can tell by the way you keep offering to help get the trains running, even though you’d be no match for the horde, but also because of Nikolai’s snide comments about Carlos bringing in “yet another one” when the cars still weren’t working. “Hey, don’t worry about it,” he says. “It’s our job to protect you.”

Carlos takes you to his Captain- Captain Mikhail Victor in charge of Umbrella's Delta Platoon. You try and treat the Captain’s injury the best you can, using what little supplies from the first-aid kit that’s available. You apply a generous amount of first aid spray and wrap a makeshift bandage around the cut. You would have attempted sutures if the kit had any but unfortunately for the Captain, it didn’t. The wound isn’t deep but it’s in a compromising place. You know this man won’t make it out of here on foot. 

Overall, you feel you’ve done an inadequate job because you know the Captain is still incredibly vulnerable, but both Carlos and Mikhail assure you, you’ve been more than helpful. 

But you want to help more! When Carlos admits he and Tyrell won’t be catching the train and will instead stay behind to look for Bard, you offer to come with them, to help them navigate the hospital. 

Of course, everyone thinks it’s a horrible idea. One: because Bard is supposedly at the police station, not the hospital, and Two: because you have no weapons training whatsoever. You’re a walking liability. Nikolai teases Carlos about “taking on the burdens of strays”. You flip him off behind his back. 

After a ton of back and forth, you insist you go with Carlos and Tyrell, refusing to get on the train. At one point you take a seat on the ground of the platform and cross your arms stubbornly. (You’re not going and they can’t make you!)

Carlos is the first to accept the situation and roll with the punches. “Alright. But I have one rule.” He says. “No dying on me.” 

You stand, smile, and shake his hand. “Deal.”

The three of you make it to the police station, where you hang back with Tyrell in the main lobby as Carlos looks around for Bard. Once it’s revealed that Bard is still at the hospital, you offer to escort Carlos there. After giving him your best “I told you so” smirk that is.

On the way you find Jill, clearly having been infected by something, even though you’re not certain what. But none of that matters as you and Carlos bring her to the practically abandoned hospital. 

Once Jill is settled, you give Carlos some directions and a rudimentary drawing of where to locate the asshole Bard’s office. “You’ll need a voice key,” you tell him. “You’d have to look around these rooms for one of his cassettes.” 

He thanks you before asking you to look after Jill for the time being. You promise to radio him if her condition worsens. 

When Carlos comes back with the vaccine, you could practically kiss the man. You don’t, of course, it wouldn't be appropriate. (But the thought does cross your mind very briefly.) Carlos lets you administer the vaccine to Jill, you being the trained nurse and all. With all that's happened, being able to do some actual healing feels like nothing short of a miracle. 

You begin to take notes on Jill’s condition, commenting that although it doesn’t seem to be a speedy cure, her fever’s going down and her skin doesn’t look as clammy. 

The miraculous feeling doesn't last long, however, as Tyrell comes bursting through the room, clearly out of breath and pretty banged-up. He turns on the TV and to your horror, you find you have only hours to make it out of Racoon City unless you want to be vaporized. (Which, no, thank you! You certainly don’t!)  

After catching up, Tyrell being high-key surprised you’re still alive, (which honestly, you’re like ‘same’ lol) you decide to go with Carlos underground, to locate the stockpiled vaccine as a last-ditch effort to save the city. You hope whatever they made, that there’s tons of it. 

Before going underground though, Carlos gives you a gun from one of the killed security guards. It only has a few bullets but he feels safer knowing you’re not just going to walk completely weaponless into whatever danger Umbrella has waiting for you.

After I always save Jayvee's sake from her stupid evil insecure wife. He became evil to me by helping my war freak parents named ALEXANDER VILLANUEVA NOSOTROS (my father), GRACE REONTOY VILLANUEVA (my mother), and KINJO NOSOTROS (my 1st brother) together with his wife IRAH CRISTA MELGAREJO.

Did someone pay Jayvee?.

Already past 12pm and I haven't eaten lunch. My father arrived maybe at 1pm. He asked me if how much is his payment for the goods (beverages) for the sampid in the house who are KINJO and IRAH that I let pautang and as he said that he is the one who will pay me. How dare my father boast that he can pay his debts whatever the price may and that he is quarreling to me of his payment. He his so tanga to let the sampid live under my roof. He decided not to pay me. I scolded all my hates to him, and my mother's sins and his sins to me. After the useless blabberring of his mouth, he decided to pay me.

They argued with me like they see me as a kid. They look crazy and belong to the mental hospital. So does Kinjo and Irah. Ew!. My mother tell lies entering me and my father's conversation. I so hated her and she just lingo-lingo her head when she tell lies. Their faults to me should have turned to an end to their death. But they defended theirselves. I was about wanting to kill my mother 'who was here'. Because she always makes me the bad person here. She said she's not afraid to die. Time came to fight for my right because I grew up with armed soldiers neighbors when I was a baby. My parents leaves me whenever the prosthetics users of Kalibo Municipal Police Station go here. So I give my mother a taste of a axe I'm holding to slice her. But they grabbed me and tie my feet and hands. I got bruises and wounds. (See photo) I got hurt when Kinjo called Jayvee to help them tie me. Jayvee pulled me out the door of my house, he opened my dress and made my legs show off. (He don't know that I am not a shy type of person. I consider what they did to me is rape.) I asked Jayvee for help. But he did not help me. I just said to Jayvee:

"Venador in heaven will kill you."

Then Jayvee dragged me and he dropped me on the ground and my back was hurt. Jayvee helped them to tie me. They asked Jayvee to call the police. I was should be laughing at them if I was not physically hurt when they call for the police. They are so insane.

I was talking to my father, blaming everything that was not my faults. Again and again. And wanting him to remember me who I am because Marvin Frog and all frogs, and the Kalibo Municipal Police Station poisoned his mind too. He always says wrong answers. I played to his head to know who he is. What they are doing to me is evil. He still stand for Kinjo who came from the jail because of illegal drugs, as said by Monica Frog but my father who was here was not listening to me. He continue tying my arms. I told them to kneel to me so I can forgive them. I started joking him and deal to me or him, to or if both of us will kneel. But he was so insane. I can't believe that he is my father. I started kneeling to him but he was listening somewhere, and just looking somewhere. I showed him my boobs that was revealed because of them dragging me. And he really likes looking at my boobs.

As Jayvee was assigned calling the police, I started thinking of requesting them to bring with the police, the media of any tv network, Aklan Cable TV can do. But they were not reacting. I know the Jayvee is not fake, not a prosthetics. And for the win, I say, they became calm. They don't know that I am an artist and wants to have a presscon.

I was sitting on a chair in the kitchen while my arms are still tied. I was happy when the police came. Three police officers who did not even introduce theirselves and show their IDs to me. And that was not to be happy. So shameful policemen that I am the one who introduced myself to them. When I told the police to come in. My stupid father who was holding me, let go of me and leave me to the policeman who talked to me. I asked the policeman who was talking to me if he is a barangay tanod. Because he holds a stick that I know is used by a barangay tanod although he is wearing a police uniform. Still, I don't believe him. But as I said, I am honest even if they are fake or wearing prosthetics. And I started telling him what they did to me. I hated the police of being deaf, he do not want to listen to me. I requested to him the media, he thought of picture taking because I said camera so I tell him what I mean is be on television live broadcasting. I don't like the attitude of the policeman who talked to me. He was really deaf to me. He does not care justice for me. I believe he was assigned at Kalibo Municipal Police Station. I already saw him there before. Sitting on the chair for blotter. I hated him for not doing his job right. He wanted to separate our conversation, and their conversation of my parents. But he does not want to invite me. And that I think is not right. He goes outside to them and leave me here. He does not even have a nametag.

Why did the policeman go outside?.

Did he heard Marvin Frog in his bluetooth microphone headset for some cash to betray me?.

I told the policeman who talked to me to rip my parents if they are fake, wearing prosthetics. Because my father went to an operation, surgery before cause of glaucoma in the eyes. I pointed to him that my father's eyes who was with us is not dark but gray.

He leaved me without giving me justice and said that, if I will be violent again I will go to the police?. "THE POLICE?" Funny. I have said to the policeman that his dreams to this crime will not happen. I am always the winner because they are useless.

The two policeman who was with him were just chatting to each other. And the one is also just looking and listening. And hence that they are three policeman here who I believe that were fake, they can be Marvin Frog, Monica Frog, and Maria Frog, the insane elves of the Kalibo Municipal Police Station. Always three people.

I find comfort to 'te Beth when she dropped by to buy rice, she's my neighbor and tell her the crimes done to me today. He even asked me about Wilson Condez, the man I want to promise forever. I said to her that after what happened to us, he replaced me to a bulok na klaseng babae. But he is still the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. So I'm not gonna marry any one.

They just dedma me here, blabbering. I was happy that Irah answered me when she came back. I asked her if what are they doing here. She said that they will get things, their things should she have said. And I said that I'm glad that they thought of it. And I saw them going out of the house with their so-called things. I am still waiting for my parents to go too. Why are they still here?. I will respect my little brother, Aguilao, his decision.

Philippine National Police, I am expecting a reply from you. Call, text, or e-mail is fine too, I will wait weekly till monthly. You give me justice. ASAP. Aklan Province is injustice that people like me here don't even need a lawyer and useless hudas police officers of the Kalibo Municipal Police Station here do not pay there sins to the world.

I am now wondering if moving countries was a terrible decision. I haven't slept in 24 hours so bear with me. I know I'm romanticizing my old life too much. I know it was a different kind of hell but it was also a protected hell. I know I fundamentally changed as a person on 22nd September '22. The first time I had a psychedelic. I have been a different person ever since and can't really say for better or worse. To be honest, it feels like worse. It feels like the evil part of me just took over. I lost all my impulse control. I have been getting into riskier situations. I have been encouraging myself to get worse. I will not claim that I don't like it. I certainly love it. It has been everything I've dreamt of. But my dreams were formed in wrong situation. These dreams were formed when I needed a strong escape mechanism. I don't think I need them anymore. I'm in a headspace where I am very prone to impulsively delete myself. It takes a lot in me to stay because I know people do care about me and my death would affect people. I am fighting really hard to stay here. At moments where I want to die, it becomes really difficult to convince myself to care for the people that I matter to. When I'm back to somewhat normal, it brings on so much guilt. But this isn't the point. The point is, if I didn't move here, I would be stuck in a situation where I was pretty much soul dead. I know I have made some progress related to finding who I am and what do I actually like but it is still pretty fickle. It's a lot of work. I barely want to get out of bed. I feel extremely alone. Like I know I have people a phone call away but also, I would like to meet people in person more. The amount of time I spend alone is extremely too much. It is an overload and I can not seem to take it well. But also, the past wasn't significantly better. It did push me to extremes where I felt drugs were the only proper escape I could have. That is a whole thing I need to rethink. I've finally reached a point in my life where I've spent months being constantly high. Mostly on caffeine and nicotine. Some might say overdose level high. But yeah, my mind is finally starting to fight back. It has had enough. Maybe I'll start forming a new personality from all that I've learnt in the past few months. At least I am not soul dead like I was from 2020. At least I have found myself. Breaking myself out of that frozen mode has been hectic. It has been her acting out violently. Maybe we'll find truce. So that way, I have to admit, moving here was great but finally trying out weed and psychedelics wasn't. But that had a positive effect too. Or do I just want to believe that it did? I was in a well protected bubble before it. A bubble free from addictions. At least I don't drink any more. Weed is highly under control as well. I am able to resist most of my urges. I am not physically addicted to weed but I am psychologically addicted to it. Which doesn't bode well when I don't say no to anything I want. But I would still live in a scared bubble if I didn't try psychedelics. It broke me out and gave it complete freedom. That isn't nice.

It all simmers down to would you rather be current you or the early 2022 you?

I want to be the current me without addictions. Without the damn urges. And that is something I can work on.

So likely people know this by now maybe? But I wanna bring it up because I find it kinda interesting and wanted to mention it before. So we all know the part in Venom 2 with Vee making breakfast for Eddie and singing a song called: Let's call the whole thing off by Ella F. and Louis Armstrong. At first, I just thought hey that's a cute little long, aww bless him he likes to sing. c: So after seeing the movie I find the song and start to listen to it to listen to the whole thing. But what I didn't know is how kinda sad the song is? It's a breakup song of sorts. Of a couple relationship fading away because of liking different things and such. This was used before the breakup scene happen, so basically this was used as a foreshadowing of sorts very subtle foreshadowing.

With some of the lyrics mentioning: "Things have come to a pretty pass Our romance is growing flat, For you like this and the other While I go for this and that"

"Goodness knows what the end will be Oh I don't know where I'm at It looks as if we two will never be one Something must be done"

"But oh, if we call the whole thing off Then we must part And oh, if we ever part, then that might break my heart"

This wasn't just any old random song they put in this was intentional and just good subtle foreshadowing. The whole song mentioning about different things but said in different ways like tomato and tomahto potato and potahto, pyjamas and pyjahmas etc.

My guess is that this can be seen as both being very different from one another cuz well ya know one is a human man and the other one is an alien. But also they have a very different mindset on how they look at life in very different ways.

Idk maybe I'm looking far too deep into this and it's also late on my end when I type this but surely there was a reason why this song was chosen right?

But to make a story short he was trying to hold the door closed and was crushed against it by Dan. This individual is the owner of Casl where I was held against my will and others were as well and I was made poor by this individual and the individual that was attacking him how can I possibly take sides if this individual didn't do what he did below ground I would be up a creek without a paddle it'll be someone unified in their cause he has created a rift larger than the Grand canyon it's deeper and longer and wider than the Mississippi and Missouri even after they join between the groups and the foreigners are aware of the truth because of him and he did cause a fight and altercation in the laundry room and there were partial witnesses who were hearing it. Preston was not in the room Mike too walked by briefly and may have heard it seen part of it but it wasn't a Big show and it was just a little shoving and there were no blows exchanged but apparently people think Dan was injured and he may have been because he injured this man who does yes have enough power to orchestrate this happening and he had that power back then and to me which is very difficult to do so who's right and who's wrong it's wrong for him to have set me up in this way and to have me forced to come down here to be subject to possible flooding and storms which he caused physically and manually and it's wrong to get me in this altercation with this person and it cost him some injury and I'm not liable to for it because I did not begin it in earnest and I was shoved very hard at first and the room's real small and I may have bumped into him a little but nothing no one would complain about now he started trouble on purpose too was putting one piece of laundry into the washing machine at a time and Tommy f plan to do it I think and he also plan to have a do laundry in front of these stupid courthouse and he's also kept me poor my whole life and cause massive amounts of damage to the realm and you can see now partially what was going on and why was Dan doing it well he didn't know who he was he was obstructing his way for them to try and get information any information to hold on to power to avoid what happened which has turned out to be almost the annihilation of their race or the well on their way to it maybe a third of it is left and why is that everyone must ask and it happened in world War II and it happened in the purchase this man is famous for he did to people who had a religion called Judaism they were not necessarily Russian descent true Russian race but there were a lot of them who were killed back then and it's the same person and you can say it's his lineage that's fine but he's continuous evil and killing his own kind they're not necessarily exactly the same race which is odd because he is killing Max and he is a Mac and it's sacrilege and cause great weaknesses for the entire regime this rule the Earth for 15,000 years it's his fault driven to it or not because his actions are causing it to happen he forced this man Trump to try and grab power unfortunately Trump has fallen down and went ahead with it it was very lame and it was ugly and nasty looking and I believe that the individual at the door the police person grabbed the Intel before they arrived and I don't know what the deal is there but there must be a witness

erwin is such an interesting character and him dying right before reaching his ultimate goal made his death even worse. i wish we could have seen him as the colossal titan too! i think the story would have definitely been different and levi x colossal would have been a very scary duo on the battlefield.

ooh i see! yeah annie is way more than the cold heart bitch the fandom likes to make her look like. she didn't kill those people for fun, and for almost all the warriors people tend to forget too easily that they were 12 years old and brainwashed when they were sent to paradis so of course they killed a LOT of people but it's not like they had a choice, especially since their families were still in marley. 

omg starting aot when it first aired must have been stressful, you have my total respect, i could have never survived the cliffhangers. but that was smart to notice all of these things and go past what annie did! i didnt even realise what giving up must have meant to her.

i'm pretty new to anime, aot was my third anime and i started watching it in january when season 4 just started airing. i binge watched the first three seasons and seeing all of those plot twists one after the other was a rollercoaster! but because i watched the episodes "too fast" i missed a lot of details and had to rewatch to understand some characters better (including annie). after that i started reading the manga after s4 part 1 finished airing.

annie was totally confused after coming out of that crystal and catching up with what happened in marley too must have been a LOT, she was barely out of her crystal and had to go back to war again, the boat scene seems so out of place! same, the shippers for them can be extreme i avoid them as much as i can. (i saw your tag and wtf) 

i'm not the biggest fan of her dad but it's just me projecting qkjsjsls but i understand his motives and indeed all of that training was because she's important to him. he's the dad grisha wanted to be lmao.

agreed. a piece of my soul dies during episode 55 every time. erwin should have been the one to get the injection and i will die mad about it.

i honestly don't have a problem if people dislike Annie. i'm kinda like: good stay away from her. she was the first anime girl that i really got attached to so she's got a special place in my heart. she's definitely in the wrong for all the shit she did but i also think that she knows that, and she knows she can't change the past either. that's part of why i think she'd have a pretty substantial breakdown after all the fighting. she's never been in a place where she can truly reflect on and process what happened to her - and crystal jail doesn't count because it effectively put her in solitary confinement and that's just as psychologically stressful as being used as a human weapon. i also don't think any of them LIKE to kill people, they're so brainwashed that they see it as doing what they HAVE to do to be safe *but i pointedly glare at Zeke who is on thin fucking ice*

yeah it was pretty rough, but it also means that ive analyzed literally every plot point, every interaction that ever happened. there wasn't really anything else to do. i definitely recommend paying attention to small details during your rewatches, everything makes so much more sense once things have been revealed (some still don't though unfortunately). it's fun that you're getting into anime! there's a whole world out there to get into and attack on titan is a pretty good starter. a little intense maybe 💀

the boat scene bothers me a lot, ive talked about it before on here. i genuinely don't understand why people see it as a "confession" or in a romantic context at all really, when he's literally brushing her off the whole time and thinking about eren. they really aren't canon in any significant way, not compared to the other canon ships. and it's pretty hilarious how defensive and shrill the shippers will get if you point them out.

oh shit, no no no. that is NOT why i like annie's dad, not even a little bit. im a little worried that's the impression i've been giving off now so i might make a post about him later? the way he treated annie when she was a kid was definitely abuse no matter how you look at it. the fact that he adopted her for the sole purpose of using her to gain status? fucking evil. i had an abusive father myself and i know what you mean about projecting. until her backstory was revealed i hated him with everything in me, but she cares about him so much and wants to be with him again so much that in my opinion anybody that excludes her father from her narrative is in denial. she has a good relationship with him whether anybody likes it or not. i get the impression that now he has a second chance he would do absolutely anything for her to make sure that he does right by her this time. i see him as being pretty haunted by the things he's done to her but he also thinks he deserves to feel like shit so he keeps his mouth shut, it's the least he can do for her after how he made her feel/what she had to do.

Summary: During a BOM benefic delivery, Keith encounters a rebel resistance Galra group that attacks him an puts his life in jeopardy. Fearing he may die anytime even thought the war is over, he flies to Altea to find Lance and confess his feelings.

"Keith, do you copy?"

Acxa's voice sounded, worried, on the other side of the comms. She had been trying for a while now to reach her captain, but there was no sign of him since he had gone down to the planet they were currently in, looking for signs of life they could help.

Now that the war was over, the Blade of Marmora had been renewed. They were still incredible skilled warriors but now their duties had been changed to deliver help to the places in the Universe that had been affected by the battles and the destruction. They usually did not have any trouble but today it had been different and Keith, who always took the responsibility of patrolling the area before landing, was not answering his team's call.

"Maybe we should go down ourselves, just in case" Ezor suggested, also worried by the lack of answer.

"Give the little one a bit more time. He's tough" Zethrid added.

"This is weird"

Acxa worked on the ship's panel of control, trying to look for anything she could possibly do, but she got jack.

Meanwhile, on the ground , Keith was running for his life.

Panting, with his lungs already aching every time he gasped for air, the boy was trying to escape his persecutors, who he could hear, yelling to each other, only a few steps behind him.

The attack had taken him by surprise, but, still, he was punishing himself for being so careless. If he hadn't been agile enough, his blood would be painting a beautiful canvas on the rocky landscape of the planet.

It had been Garla, nonetheless, the ones who had tried to kill him. Maybe that was the reason why he was running and not fighting back: the shock he had upon seeing the purple skinned soldiers, referring to him as paladin of Voltron, even though it had been years since the lions had abandoned them.

"Acxa!! Ezor!! Zethrid!! Somebody!? Do you copy me!?" he shouted over the comms between gasps, but the plain and cold static answered him.

Tired already, desperately trying to reach his team for help, Keith did not see the rift splitting the ground in two at his feet and he fell right on it, with a cry of pain, hitting his ribs on the ledge and spraining his right ankle on the deep hole. Soon enough, he was able to feel the warm blood running, tickling his skin under his tight suit.

He struggled to get himself out, not caring about injuring himself even more, but in vain. The rift was shallow but too narrow, so he was trapped on it. Little was worth all his screaming and cursing, and then a shadow hovered over him and the click of a gun and an evil laugh reached his ears.

"Look at you. The mighty Red Paladin, trapped like a rat in a hole on the ground. Pathetic"

"Fuck you" Keith growled , angryly, which earned him a kick on the head that made him spit blood out of his mouth.

"Shut it, and try not to keep spilling blood over my new skin trophy. Now. You're gonna be a good boy, and tell us where the rest of your team is"

"What are you even barking about? Haven't you heard the war is over?"

Keith could almost hear how the big warrior gritted his sharp teeth.

"We know, but you worms are still alive. That's insulting to us, to the memory of our great Emperor Zarkon. You destroyed it all!! We want our revenge!!"

"Then get me out of here and I'll show you the blade Zarkon tasted!!"

His words had the effect required and the soldier grabbed Keith by his neck and raised him in the air and out of the rift like a flower out of its soil, to throw him on the ground under his feet with anger. The boy twisted in pain to the impact. He probably had a few ribs broken.

"I'll break every single bone in your tiny body"

"Fuck you" Keith cursed again at him, but before the soldier could even point his gun at him, he was brought down alongside his companions by three figures that appeared out of nowhere.

"Keith!!" Acxa shouted, upon seeing her captain on the floor, the blood starting to shine through the dark fabric of the suit.

The three warriors ran to help him.

"The blade Zarkon tasted?? Do you have a death wish? " Zethrid faced him while Acxa and Ezor inspectioned his wounds.

"Stupid human" Acxa mumbled between her teeth, "It wasn't even you who finished Zarkon. It was Lotor"

"Who cares. I had to win some time and it worked, right? " Keith whispered, feeling how the exhaustion was starting to catch up to his muscles and brain.

"They were going to kill you!"

"No. I can't... I can't die. I have to do something first"

"Yeah? Like what?"

The day had dawned sunny and warm, and Lance was heading for the orchard to take care of his crops, with one of the altean kids that lived alongside him and other alien families on the farm he had retired to after the war was over, seeking peace of mind and relaxation after all the stress and fear that it had brought upon them. What he did not expect to receive were the news of the arrival of a stranger warrior out of the mouth of another of the children that were running around, and even less it being Keith in the flesh.

"Wow, that mullet gets worse with the years" Lance jokingly said as soon as his former partner was close enough to hear him.

Keith laughed to his words, but he merely managed to scoff. His broken ribs pained him too much to actually burst a laughter and, even though he tried to hide it, he was limping. Also, Lance knew him all too well.

"Are you okay?" the Cuban asked, with a worried look on his blue eyes.

"Just a mission that went wrong. Nothing to worry about"

Lance raised an eyebrow.

"A mission? I thought the Blade was doing humanitarian work now?"

"Um, yeah we do..." Keith wondered his eyes away from Lance's, "But I... Found myself with some old glories that recognized me. And they weren't nice to me"

"Okay, you're coming with me now. You need to lay down"

Keith half smiled upon seeing Lance's face, frowning with a troubled look. He would have tried to argue with him over it, but he knew there would be no way to make him desist, so he followed his friend to his home, were Lance made him lay on a very comfortable couch while he made some hot coffee.

"There you go" he said, offering him a cup, "Now would you tell me why you're here? Do you need a place to heal your wounds? You can stay if you want"

The offering took Keith by surprise. He hadn't even thought about that possibility.

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah! We have plenty of room here and I could use..." Lance stopped himself before saying what was roaming his mind and blushed to the very thought of even telling Keith what he actually wanted to say, "You'd be welcome"

"What was that?"

"What was what?"

"The sentence you didn't finish" Keith teased him, accommodating himself on the couch.

"Stay on your back" Lance ordered him in a soft voice, avoiding the question at the same time.

"I'll stay if you make me"

"Wha... What?"

Lance's face lighted up like a lighthouse and Keith smiled softly at him.

"I came here for a reason, Lance. I... I almost died in this mission--"

"You what!?"

"Let me finish! Dammit! Those soldiers almost killed me and the thing is... I could not stop thinking about... About how much I regretted not visiting you more often. Not... Talking to you since months ago. Not being by your side"

"What do you mean with all that, Keith?"

"Fuck! Lance!" Keith snapped, making a pinch of pain flood his chest on the process, "I'm not good with this feelings shit..."

The Cuban boy smiled.

"You mean to tell me you missed me, mullet?" Lance asked with a cheeky grin.

"Yes but, not only that"

Keith's cheeks started to dye red as he spoke. He wanted to shout it at Lance, but what if his friend did not feel the same?

Suddenly Lance raised from his seat and approached him, kneeling by his side, on the floor.

"What else then?" he asked with shiny eyes, placing his hand on Keith's knee. His altean marks seemed to flash for a second.

Keith stared into the black liquid that filled his mug, trying to ignore the feeling of crying that was crowling its way up his chest. He was regretting his words right now. Lance was still probably mourning Allura. He could see it on his eyes every year when they met before her statue to remember her. There was still love shinning in them.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have--"

But his words died on his throat as Lance leaned forward and pressed his lips against his', catching him by surprise.

"I love you too" the boy answered, breaking the kiss after a few seconds.

Warm tears streamed down Keith's cheeks, releasing all the pressure he had been feeling inside. Lance ran quick to hug him.

"Careful" Keith said between sobs, "My ribs"

"Sorry" Lance tried to pull back, but Keith wrapped him with one arm and pulled him back to his chest.

"I don't care about the pain. I just need you close now"

They stayed like that in silence for a few minutes until Lance broke the silence.

"You think it's too late to join the Blade?"

It all not happening and Rebecca lying and this just being a story to break Robert down so that Robron have both been to the worst depths within a few months would be ideal for me and I would love love love that but then I just think urgh ED's not that clever it's totally gonna be whose the daddy drama and then the usual shock reveal with added 'evil Robert must redeem himself' again mantra. I'm begging for something different.

Maybe I will be proven wrong this week but they haven’t really painted Robert as evil, imo. They’ve shown him guilty, sad and desperate to protect Aaron from his mistake. I’ve kind of loved it all from a Robert perspective. He’s just not the same person he was before Aaron went inside. I just feel like you can see a heaviness that he carries now. Minus that brief scene on Friday we haven’t really seen the return of 2015!robert who would have probably murdered Rebecca by now. It’s just different. There is a difference. 

I think redemption was the wrong word to be used by IM. Looking at the dialogue since The Incident™ they have started delving into the character of Robert. Tho, if you look back, they’ve been putting out hints about this part of Robert since this summer. There have been three constant themes for Robert since he reunited with Aaron last year:

His entire life is dependent on Aaron and he can’t function without him.

He’s trying to change for Aaron and sees every misstep as a massive failure.

He’s trying to make everything perfect for Aaron as if it will make everything better for Aaron.

I always thought that line from post SSW when he said he would have stayed was a /little/ intense but then it was dropped. Like, Robert would rather die than live without Aaron…and that’s kind of scary. Also if you look at all of Robert’s actions over the past year it’s been about making Aaron’s life better. It’s never really about his. It was like how getting revenge for Andy had very little to do with Robert himself but more to do with Robert protecting his family. 2015!robert was all about putting himself first but now we’ve completely flipped that to the point where Robert never puts himself or his feelings first, because maybe that’s how he sees being better and changing. 

I mean, how sad was it last week when he said ‘Oh you know me - I always deserve it for something.’ Literally, Robert believes he deserves acts of violence to punish him for his mistakes. It’s been ingrained in him. I also keep going back to the line from Rebecca during The Incident™ about how ‘Aaron being the self-destructive one.’ They’ve never really addressed this part of Robert and actually brushed it aside. They’ve always discussed it with Aaron but never really with Robert. Thinking back to the argument in January, it almost feels like Robert was talking about himself as much as he was talking about Aaron. Maybe that’s the whole point of this? We’re finally going to address the self-destructive natures of both Robert and Aaron.
