Why is it that dc such as r@pe, sa, and incest is totally okay to write about and romanticize but yâall draw the line at racism, fat phobia, and homophobia *talking about the writings creators make, not personal beliefs*? Whats the difference between these things? All of them are hurtful and affect people in real life, so why is everybody on here choosing and picking one and not the other? Do writers on here think that they are not comparable or that one is okay to romanticize and the other is going way too far?
Im just genuinely curious as I have seen this topic be brought up again and again, which has made me realize this and Id like to see it from someone else's pov.
hi! there is a lot to answer and unpack here and i have every intention of doing so underneath the cut. forgive me if this gets long, but youâve asked me 4 very massive questions that i think warrant detail, nuance, and thought. there is a lot iâd like to say here.
that being said, mind the content warnings and protect yourself.
cw: mentions of rape, incest, racism, homophobia, fat phobia, discourse in general
firstly, i am going to choose to give you the benefit of the doubt in assuming you are actually curious in hearing another side and you are not simply looking to stir a pot or pick a fight with beliefs you have no intention of changing or having an open discussion on. your accusatory tone in the first half indicates otherwise and kindly, i am not an idiot. but i want to earnestly talk to you about this and again, will think better of you than you perhaps have indicated you think of me.
secondly, you do not have to censor words like rape in my inbox. that sort of censorship has become wildly popular because of tik tok and other money-hungry social media that also desperately want to silence people. do you know why you have to censor words like that on tik tok? or words like genocide? suicide? racism? 1. so that they can make money and market and push their squeaky clean algorithms but 2. and perhaps worse, so they can silence victims. if social media platforms and capitalism and the systems of powers had it their way, you would never utter these words againâwhether to call someone out for justice or to have an open discussion like this one. i encourage you greatly to think critically about this and how you choose to use censorship and why.
now, to your questions.
to preface, i am interpreting this ask as being anti-dark content in fiction as you state that ALL these subjects harm people in real life. or at least, you are being critical of all dark content in fiction and the way writers engage with them, effectively âpicking and choosingâ which are deemed acceptable and which arenât, when they are all hurtful. i apologize if that wasnât your intention/what you believe, but regardless, iâll endeavor to answer you.
i personally have drawn no lines about dark content nor spoken about any of these topics specifically really, which indicates to me you have a different narrative and/or are coming from more inflammatory arguments that are always circling fandom lately. in the post i most recently reblogged, i spoke mostly of violence. which, of course, all of those things can be. but i didnât name one of those topics in particular.
regardless, i donât believe in the censorship of any dark content in art, but rather advocate strongly for critical analysis on a case-by-case basis. in general, i encourage thinking critically about every aspect of the world around you.
i do not believe that rape, incest, and sa are okay to write about or create art about but racism, homophobia, and fat phobia are not. i believe all of those topics are ones that can, should, and will be explored in the safety of art. all to varying degrees of success, earnestness, impact, and intent. youâre right that these are real things, that can hurt people, and the fictional work about them can have impact on our society that is tangible but the actual art or fiction created is not real. and again, this is all to varying degrees on a case-by-case basis.
art and fiction also historically and massively do discuss these dark content topics and have actively swayed the publicâs opinion on matters, whether for better or for worse. throwing away all dark content in art and fiction because it is âharmfulâ is deeply, deeply dangerous and reductive. a lot of art that engages with dark content actually makes very succinct points about itâi think of vladimir nabokovâs lolita or octavia butlerâs bloodchild or speak by laurie halse anderson.
this is where we must exorcise critical thinking. some pieces of work will handle dark content poorlyâwhite saviors making art on racism. men making art about a womanâs experiences that (as you are so interested in) romanticize her pain. etc. etc. and some art will handle itâs dark content incredibly and be transformative, perhaps even revolutionary in how we talk, perceive, or acknowledge systems of oppression, violence, and dark content in this world. some dark content in fiction will have damaging beliefs and effects on society, some will notâwe must also look at scope for this, at the writer perhaps, the historical moment, their audience etc.
(for example, there is a significant difference in a main stream male writer, writing of a womanâs experience with rape in a published book in a way that makes it sound romanticized, sold to thousands and thousands of general public vs. a woman using fanfic to explore rape, take control of it, or whatever in a fanfic for a small online community where there are warnings on it. indicating she is aware of its potential damage in a way her male counterpart is notâŠ)
but i still believe in dark contentsâ existence in art. of course there is differences between all of these topics you brought up, but i donât think their differences matter in this answer. i believe in their right to be explored in art. i am talking broadly of media/art here, which i think is the more relevant conversation, but i think you are actually more interested in a much smaller scale of people. ie. fandom. ie. mostly marginalized people in small communities online writing and creating dark content.
people will choose and pick which ones theyâd like to create art over and which ones they donât, which ones they read and which ones they donât. thereâs no âhard lineâ drawn anywhere. and i canât control it and neither can you. perhaps you think violence is okay to be explored in fanfic, but racism isnât. someone else will have different preferences. i do not believe in its censorship.
now, letâs move onto your interest in romanticization and what i think you are more pointing to, which is fandom. you are specifically referring to people in fandom who write about rape, incest, etc. and âromanticizeâ itâie. they write about it in a way that is a fantasy. it is perhaps supposed to be horny or sexy. so letâs talk about it.
i must remind you that these topics youâve brought up (rape, incest, sa) being written are fiction and it is (most often) done by someone marginalized who has either experienced this or is in threat of experiencing this under a patriarchy. i assure you, they are aware of its harm. hence the copious warnings in fandom spaces.
if i can be candid, sometimes i think that people forget how systems of oppression work when discussing fandom and whether dark content being created should be allowed or not.
for example, i sometimes think people who are anti-dark content in fandom believe that a woman or afab person writing a fictional fanfic about rape or sexual violence then influences people to go out and rape people or that women actually like it. when the reality, in fandom spaces, is that rape and sexual violence happen frequently under the patriarchy and then these women in fandom write fictional fanfic in response to cope, explore, take control of, etc. etc.
to insinuate that women or afab people (which fandom mostly is) exploring dark content safely in fiction then causes their own oppression and harm or trauma is rather victim-blame-y to me. fandom exploring dark content does not cause these things to happen in our societyâŠ.these actions (rape, incest, sa) happen in our society or systems of power and fandom reacts to them in their art by exploring it in dark content. do you understand what iâm trying to say?
itâs not a matter of what is âokayâ to romanticize and what isnât. i do not think the romanticization that fandom does with dark content (ie. my kidnapper actually loves me! or this sexual act that i did not consent toâŠmaybe feels good) is not actually romanticizing but coping because of the systems of power that i described above. and this can be coping with anythingâshame of sexuality, shame of fantasies, trauma, fear, etc. etc.
as i said in my tags in that post i reblogged and as plato said, dark content in art is a safe place to explore what would otherwise be harmful and dangerous in real life. it is cathartic. potentially even, a purging.
and even if it isnât all thatâmaybe it just is trashy fantasy. it is still playing pretend. it is still fiction and in fandom spaces, it is still most likely being created by a marginalized person. and again, even if it isnât, we donât get to censor it. we can be critical of it or wary or whatever, but to censor it, is a slippery, slippery slope. do deem some topics as âacceptableâ and others as âunacceptableâ is dangerous.
just like kids play pretend where they âfightâ or âkillâ or âkidnapâ or âshootâ each other in games of cops and robbers or heroes and villains, they are safely exploring adventure, dark content, fantasy, tragedy, and higher emotions. adults can do the same in fiction and with adult topics like sex.
and at the end of the day, we donât get to demand the credentials to do so either. we donât get to censor them or control them and nor should we be allowed to. i cannot stress enough that i encourage you to be critical of censorship or the absolute disgust in dark content and at those (againâoften marginalized people) who engage with it in fandom. i believe it is deeply puritanical, conservative, and dangerous.
you donât have to like dark content or consume it at all and fandom makes it easy not to with all the warnings and tags, but you cannot control others or police them. nor should you want to.
and at the end of the day, i have some questions for you. you donât have to respond to this, perhaps theyâre just things to think about. what is the end goal here? what is the point in harassing, shaming, attacking, criticizing, or interrogating people in fandom spaces who create or support dark content? do you believe that if it is purged from fandom, it will be purged from our society? if you want it purged from societyâshouldnât you start there rather than in the inbox of marginalized writers in fandom? people in fandom did not create rape, incest, and sa nor do they in their exploration of fictionâŠthey are merely reacting to a world that did create it.
i hope at no point i came off as rude to you, as was not my intention. i intended to stand up for myself and respectfully state my opinions and thoughts on this matter. iâm sorry it got long, but also i donât believe in being brief on such complex matters. i am a writer who engages critically with the world around me and sometimes, things cannot be made into short, snappy answers. sometimes, we must unpack.
genuinely wishing you well.
#i cannot guarantee that iâll have the time patience or energy to answer every ask like the one above in such detail#going forward#but i do support open discussions and i wanted to be kind to this anon#these are just my 2 cents on all of this#cw: rape#cw: incest#cw: racism#cw: fat phobia#cw: homophobia#discourse

Op and this reblog as well as the vast majority of the people in notes are 100% correct about it being extremely disrespectful and enraging(the explanation of what the original painting was and means is also very very good to spread) but seem to be missing the actual point of the tweet iirc.
Rage. In my heart. All-consuming. FUCK AI.
#very sure i remember that tweet actually being a parody of the soulless insensitive people want to do with AI#you can definitely say that they picked a bad piece to do it with but the rage it causes does prove it was a very effective one#sorry ive#gone through art school stuff where this kinda art came up#oooh fuck id wanna show this tweet to one of my art teachers#the one who brought up having art be the reaction people have to it just as much if not more than the original piece#did a piece like this and like.. probably didnt intend for it to be art the way it ended up or for it to gain such reach#it was just meant as a funny edgy criticism of using computer generation to take from the dead through parody#im not 100% sure of this and again if anyone sees these additions its not meant to downplay the rightousness of the anger ppl feel#its just such a good example of the shit i learned during my art education#like im kinda debating on whether i should send a screenshot(censored usernames of course) to my old professor#*soulless insensitive shit people want to do with ai#also used the word parody instead of satire cause i mixed up the meanings of the english word#god im sorry for all the tags the art student part of me just went crazy#many tags#long tags#art#remember#hope this isnt a sorry my follower made that comment moment cause again this being satire does not in any way invalidate being upset#also again im reading into this a lot a real blue curtains moment or whatever im v sure the person who made the tweet didnt mean#to make a far reaching reaction art piece but rather just did an edgy joke at the expense of companies who do/want to do that stuff#the tweet probably shouldnt have even been made something something if satire isnt recognised by most ppl as satire its bad satire

Soaking wet (San x fem!reader)
Synopsis: Soaking in the water festival, both literally and physically, you find your eyes trailing to a certain red haired man, completely drenched, his tank sticking to his skin like a tease. The festival isnât the only thing thatâs gonna be wet.
Genre: smut, fluff, San is performing, the both of you are wet, sexual tension (kinda!), reader is playful
Warnings: penetration, cumming, masturbation, heavy petting, slight hair tugging (san is the one getting his hair tuggedđ¶ïž), unprotected sex (PLEASE USE CONDOMS <3), cream pie, riding
Word count: 3.7K
A/n: no one drives me as insane as Choi san⊠my brain has rotted even more ever since waterbomb and I canât stop fucking thinking about him
You navigate against the crowd, your hand linking with your friendâs, who is babbling about being excited that they could finally attend face-to-face events after a long while. You smile as you continue threading the crowd, a strange glimmer of excitement and anxiety flicking in you because you knew he would be there.
Water festivals are fun in their own way, once you let yourself get drenched and just enjoyed the music beating in your ears. You werenât letting San dominate you of course. You had your own white shirt on with a bikini top and sweat shorts for easier manoeuvring, especially through the thick crowd. Whether or not youâll get sprayedâis another matter entirely, and whether that will capture Sanâs attention as well. But the main point was, you werenât gonna let San get a rouse out of you.
Bubble Pop blasts on the speakers and you silently cheer in delight at such a fun song. Definitely a summer classic. The water guns continuously drenches the crowd, including you but all you care about was feeling Hyunaâs music from head to toe. You didnât know where San and his buddies were but not that it should matterânothing was going on between you and the idol anyway. You comb your wet hair back, shaking it to let the excess water out. You are wet, but not drenched, yet. The fun was just getting started. Your friend whispers something in your earâsomething about getting drinks for you. You smile at her and gently take the drink she offers youâa non-alcoholic one. Itâs too early to get wasted. After having more talks and giggling with your friend, she suddenly squeals and you whip your head to the stage. Ah, another band is performing on stage. And itâs exactly who you think it is.
Choi Sanâs shirt clings onto his skin, pulling taut against chest, his nipples just peaking beneath the sheer fabric, teasing your eyes. You glance up and down at him, swallowing every single part of San with your eyes like a full course meal, forcing yourself to show as minimal reaction as possible. Seonghwa told you that Sanâs outfit was safe but dangerousâwhatever the fuck that even meant. Dangerous is an understatementâSan looks deadly. He had removed his hat and hung it on his ripped, baggy jeans, sweat and water just trickling down his temple to his jaw, down his throat, and sinking into the sheer ass fabric clinging onto dear life on his skin. Before you realise it, San catches your eye, and his lips curl into a smirk as he continues to pour and drench himself with another bottle of water. You swore to yourself that youâd never let him have the satisfaction that San just crawled into the crevices of your mind like a parasite. Fuck. Your eye contact meets his, determined not to lose this round. This only seems to rile him up a little more and he cuts the eye contact shortly after, going off to the other side of the stage. You exhale, combing your wet hair back again, feeling like you went through the most intense battle for some reason.
Just then Seonghwa walks over and meets your eyes, flashing a small smile. He, too, looks absolutely delectableâhis white turtleneck drenched, pressing against his skin and a whole line of zipper just censoring his nipples at the perfect spot. What a fucking tease. He glances at San who catches his gaze before turning back to you, his hand on the water cannon. Before you know it, it sprays and absolutely drenches you. Your friend squeals and has her arm up with her drink in surprise. The white tank presses onto your skin and while you were wearing a bikini top, it somehow looked even sinful since now your chest was becoming more visible. You push your completely drenched hair back and your eyes search for Seonghwa on the stage. Heâs obviously left the scene of the crime, whispering to San about something as San passes him. Sanâs gaze turns to you, and his expression unreadable as he lingers on you. You stare back and smile innocently. This felt bad for some reason, and you werenât even the one who insinuated it.
The band finishes their set and you excuse yourself, threading yourself back out of the crowd. Your friend follows you out for a quick breather as well. âToiletâ she says. âIâll call you when Iâm done.â
You nod as you watch her disappear into the distance. You walk the opposite direction, pulling out your phone from your mini shoulder bag. You reach to a more isolated area in the festival. The music was still beating pretty loudly in your ears and you comb your hair back again, getting the wet strands from your face to check your phone. A presence appears in front of you and you look up. San is staring down at you. Up close, he looks even more heavenly, his expression still unreadable.
He breaks into a small smile. âDamn. Seonghwa really got you huh.â
âWhat brings you here, San?â You ask, locking your phone and crossing your arms. Youâre not sure if your heartbeat is accelerating from the music or because San is standing before you.
âSaw you in the crowd. Didnât expect you to be hereâ, San says as he leans towards you.
âOf course. Came here to see Hwaâ, you mention, pressing your bottom lip with your left index finger, tilting your head a little, your eyes feign playing dumb as your gaze flicker from Sanâs to somewhere else. You hear San take a breath, sounding irritated. You peek at your peripheral vision and oh boy, you definitely pushed a button or two in San. Such a gullible man.
âRight, that totally seems like that case.â You both know thatâs a lie. The both of you were like playing some kind of cat and mouse game ever since the accident of when you ended up making out with San at a pub in your drunken stupor as a dare from one your friends. What you didnât realise was that he was from a rising boy band at the time and you ended up befriending the four out of eight boys who were at the sceneâincluding Seonghwa. But you were obviously attracted to San. Obviously. And you would never let him know. The only problem was that the kiss had you hooked. He was way too good at it. The way he pushed himself to you as your lips locked. The way he had combed your hair back during the kiss. The way he had you cornered.
Just like right now.
âDo you want to go find him?â San asks after a moment of silence. You canât identify if he was being sarcastic or genuine but you decide to play along. âWhy not? Iâm giving him a piece of my mind for drenching me like thisâ, you reply, tugging the collar of the tank top, and Sanâs eyes fall right onto your chest. Oh dear. You forgot about that.
San smiles and puts his hand out for you to take, and you do. âWonât you get swarmed by fans walking out in the open like this?â He shakes his head. âWe got a staff shortcut.â
His grip was firm yet gentle, as if he didnât want to let you go, not yet. Your heart continuously beats, and you worry that San could hear it at any point of time now.
The both of you reach a more quiet and isolated space at the festival, in front of a trailer. It probably is the bandâs trailer. San unlocks the door and invites you in.
Of course, Seonghwa wasnât there. You already knew. He obviously was not going to let you meet Seonghwa. You hear the sound of the door being closed and locked. Instead of panicking, you turn to the couch and sit, making yourself comfortable. âWhereâs Hwa?â You provoke. San only inches closer. Thereâs a glint of guilt that flashes in his eyes for a moment.
âI lied. Iâm sorryâ He admits, as he brushes his hair back. âDo you really like him that much?â Fuck, heâs so cute when heâs soft like that.
âWhat if I say I do?â
An expression of hurt flashes across his face for a moment. Or was it jealousy?
He pouts, and it sends your heart into a spiral. Was he the same dude drenched and smirking on stage like 15 minutes ago?
âReally?â He confirms, stepping closer. You feel your breath hitch.
âNoâ, you plaster a smile, âI lied tooâ
This automatically puts a smile on Sanâs face. His hair was partially dried, so was his tank. It was still damp and the fabric still clings onto his chest. You swallow. Not to mention up close and personal.
âHey y/n, I couldnât stop thinking about you ever since the pubâ and that leaves your face flushing. The only thing that flashes through your mind was how fucking good he feels in your mouth. âYou tasted so unforgettable.â
âCan we go further than that?â He pursues, this time right in front of you. He tilts in, trying to close the distance between the both of you. But at that moment, the couch suddenly vibrates. The both of you jump at the sensation. You crawl to the position of where you phone (which was in your bag) was lying, and San stays put at where heâs at, his gaze following your movements.
You pull out your phone from your bag, and the phone lights up with your friendâs caller ID. You look up at San. âExcuse me for a momentâ, you say and put the phone up to your ear as you slide to answer. Your friend asks you where are you, and that sheâs out of the toilet.
âIâmâŠin the middle of somethingâ, you reply, your eyes darting to San, whoâs staring at you intently. âIâll call you when Iâm done. Enjoy the rest of the festival!â Your friend laughs and replies with an âokay!â before hanging up. You lower your phone from your ear and stuff it back into your bag. The moment you turn your head, San closes the distance between the both of you, hungry and needy. His lips pressing yours, gently pushing his tongue in to part your lips.
There it isâthis feeling of fireworks just going off in your head when he kisses you like that. You almost go giddy as you feel your lower abdomen flutter in pleasure. Fuck this feels so good. You intertwine your fingers against his bright red locks of hair and tug a little in case you fall somewhere. This only elicits a soft moan out of San, and pulls back for a moment, his lips now red and swollen from kissing you hard. His eyes look slightly glazed and you canât imagine how you are lookingâyou just know you want him to start fucking you right about now. He leans his head towards your neck and starts peppering your neck with kisses, sending jolts down your spine, and your pussy. Goosebumps scatter throughout your skin as you felt something loosenâyour bikini top. The clothing piece falls limply as the knot gets undone by San, and with a swift motion, he tugs the bikini top by the string and down it goes, removed from beneath your shirt. You feel the tank top fabric stick to your nipples and the sensation makes you gasp a little. San only continues to trail his kisses down to your tits and when he gets there, he lifts the hem of your top up, letting it cling to the skin above your tits, and then sucks delicately on your right nipple. This only pools the area between your legs.
âFuck.. San..â you barely manage out. San brings up his other hand and pinches your left nipple. Your hand goes to his hair and you tug againâthis time from the pleasure jolting right between your legs. San moans again. He removes his lips and switches over to the left nipple. This pushes out a moan on your end. Oh my god, his tongue feels so good.
You continue to brush his hair back in pleasure as he licks and sucks in your nipple like some kind of candy. Suddenly he removes his hands and lips entirely, leaving you gasping at the lack of touch.
âRemove your sandalsâ San instructs, and you kick them off easily. He shifts his position so that youâre seated on his lap, straddling him, and thatâs when you realise his hard on just pressing against your pussy. That just excites you even more.
San smoothes his palms up and down youâfrom your chestânot forgetting to play with your nipplesâall the way to your thighsâdangerously close to your cunt. âSo what do you want me to do, y/n?â, he asks, almost in a whisper, since his face is so close to yours.
Your eyes gaze to his damp shirt and you brush your hands against his nipples. San whimpers in surprise, and you feel his cock harden even more beneath you. His eyes open slightly as his head tilts back a little. âDo you like teasing me that much?â
You smile in reply. âI canât help it if every part of you is fuckable.â And that kind of snaps something in San. He goes in for another needy kiss and this time your tits rub against his chest through the thin and wet fabric, causing you to moan in between kisses. You also start to grind your hips against his, desperate for some skin.
San pauses the make out session, leaving you half lidded and breathing heavily. It was starting to be difficult to cling onto any sense of sanity left. You feel him reaching for his pants and unbuckling, heâs acting like heâs doing it steadily but itâs evident that heâs rushing to let his cock spring out. Another hand slides to your pussy, and he pushes the sweat shorts aside, along with your pantiesâright to your clit.
âFuck, youâre so wet already y/nâ he breathes out. âI canât wait to fuck youâ. He bites his lip as he rubs your clit. His other hand grabs yours and has you rub him offâhis cock at a significant length, but more on the girthy side. How the hell is that gonna fit in you.
He continues to rub your clit in slow, circular motions and you could barely focus on pumping San out. Each flick felt like a tickle that only thinned your sanity even more, the jolts of pleasure coming in non-stop. ââŠso goodâ you barely manage out. âKeep doing that Sanâ.
The knot in your stomach tugs from the pleasure and you feel it building rapidly. You are definitely not going to survive this. It feels like fucking heaven. San continues to kiss your neck and suck on your skin, littering your shoulders with faint, red marks, adding into the pleasure even more. He continues to encourage you to keep up moaning, because itâs making him feel amazing too and whatever else. You were feeling too good to process his sweet nothings.
That was when you feel your climax reaching. Your legs trembling slightly as Sanâs fingers brushed against your nub once more, the feeling growing more intense by the second.
âAh fuck-âyou cry out. âS-san-â All he does is continue to flick your clit. By now you let go of his cock because your focus was out of the window, only staring right into Sanâs gorgeous eyes, half lidded as he wraps his fingers around your neck. Oh fuck. You feel it building.
âSan, Iâm coming-âyou whine, over and over as your body shakes in pleasure, your eyes rolling back as San now presses against your clit, sending even more shockwaves through your system. He lets your ride out your orgasm.
âYou look so pretty when you comeâ, San whispers as he removes his hand from your name and combs back your hair. âWeâre not done yet though.â Before you could reply, he pushes the fabric of your pants and panties further to the side, taking your hand and having you hold the pants to the side, your pussy exposed even more. It doesnât take you long to realise what heâs trying to do and you start taking action. Lifting your hips up, your free hand holds Sanâs cock as you line up to your entrance, and then you push down, taking him in instantly.
FUCK. The pleasure jolts in you so much and you wonder if you can keep your eyes open as he fucks you. The overstimulation felt so amazing. His cock is buried deep inside you and it feels so fucking full. San gasps as well, his eyes squeezed shut. âFuck, y/n, you feel so good, squeezing me out like thisâ, he whimpers. You crash your lips into his, and he hungrily devours you. His moans mixed with yours as you start moving slowly, starting at a slow pace.
Moans start to fill the trailer, so do the sounds of wet skin slapping. Every time you ride and lift your pussy off his cock, you cry out in pleasure, only for San to slam you down, balls deep in you again. You lean in to his shoulder and kiss his neck in an effort to hold back your moans. His hands reach for your ass and he slaps it, the sound bouncing off the walls, and you jumping before sinking right back into his dick.
âYou take me so wellâ, he whispers in your ear. âI canât wait to start fucking you everywhere. Then youâll be only thinking of meâ. His possessiveness only turning you on a little more.
Just then, the door suddenly knocks. The both of you freeze for a moment. The tapping continues. âSan, are you there? Manager needs us in fifteen.â
It was Seonghwa. San suddenly lifts you off his lap and cock before turning you over to face the door. Your heartbeat quickens. What the hell is he trying to do? Before you could protest, he slips his cock right back into you, and you go limp, falling back to his chest and head supported by his shoulders. He fucks you with your legs open like that. âThere he is, your little crush. If he has the key and unlocks the door, heâs gonna see you like this. What would Hwa think?â San presses. Heâd think you were a whore, being fucked out, balls deep by Choi San.
âHeâs not my crush. You are. I love how fuck me like thisâ, you cry out softly, still bouncing off his cock. You donât know what washed over you to confess that but it already slipped out. San pauses for a second, and you feel him smile, you also feel his cock grow in your pussy. âYeah sure! Iâll be there!â San strains. The footsteps shuffle away, and your heartbeat starts to slow down.
âReally?â San asks, both of his hands flicking your nipples. Fuck, you canât answer, not like this. âYes. San, please, donât stopâ you confirm. San bites your ear gently as he pounds into you. God, your face must be looking so fucked and glazed over.
You feel his movements getting erratic and sloppier. âIâm closeâ, he exhales. His hands travel down to your thighs as he strokes them gently.
âPleaseâ, you whine. âYou can release in meâ. And that snaps whatever sanity San had left as he fucks right into you and paints your insides with his cum. He keeps moaning in your ears about how good your pussy feels, how heâs going insane. He slowly pulls out and shudders at the overstimulation from emptying out in you. Cum trickles down your pussy and that sight almost made him hard again. Almost.
San puts you aside as he reaches out for a box of tissues to clean yourself up with. He also reaches out to clean your pussy up when heâs done wiping down his dick.
âAre you okay? Does it hurt?â San asks, stroking your head. You shake your head as you hand him the used tissues. He lifts up your shirt, which makes you squeal in surprise.
âHold your shirt up. Iâm tying your top back on,â he assures. He fits bikini over your chest and knots the string to tighten it. The butterflies are back in your stomach as you feel his touch. He walks over to the bin and throws the tissues and washes his hands over at the sink. You follow him over and wrap your arms around his waist, which takes him by surprise. âIâm still pretty soaked you knowâ he says. You laugh, snuggling against his back even more.
âWill I see you again?â you ask, reluctant to let go. You know it would be difficult because he was an idol, and you were just someone else. He lifts your arms off him, turns around, and fits your arms around his waist again, this time facing you. He just looks so fucking good from every angle. He could put the Greek Gods to shame.
San smiles at you and presses a soft kiss onto your forehead, you completely melt under his touch. âI might be a little busy because of scheduling but during my pockets of free time, Iâll find you.â He takes your hand towards the trailer door. He unlocks the door and pushes it ajar, checking if the coast is clear. He pushes the door wider, and you follow him. The both of you walk hand in hand for awhile until he lets go.
âIâll be off first. See you around y/n. That was an amazing time with youâ, he smiles, and you see a tint of pink colouring across his tanned skin. You take his hand and kiss his palm. âSee youâ, you reply. He pulls you into a hug and your heart flutters again. Another kiss planted on your forehead and he waves goodbye before disappearing.
Oh dear. Looks like youâre head over heels for sure.

when you say âpositive / negative rightâ, what do those mean?
thanks for the good posts :)
a negative right is a claim to protection from some sort of interference; a positive right is a claim that the other party has an obligation to act in some way beyond just refraining from causing harm. for example, the right to free speech is generally spoken about as a negative right: it guarantees me the freedom from state intervention into what i can say. a right to health, on the other hand, would be a positive claim that i should be guaranteed access to things like clean air and water, health care, sick leave, &c.
in practice this distinction is actually much messier than i'm making it sound, and most 'negative rights' are basically meaningless without positive interventions, except in the fantasyland of libertarian political discourse. for example, the united states prohibits one human being from enslaving another (a negative right to legal and bodily freedom) but simultaneously engages in, and permits, incarceration with & without forced and un(der)-compensated labour requirements. the state is not actually granting freedom, and slavery has only been outlawed on a very limited and technical basis. another example is the right to abortion, which, prior to the dobbs decision, was legal in the us on the basis of a 'right to privacy' as established in roe v wadeâa freedom from specific interventions in one's medical decisions. however, for decades the actual right to abortion was eroded by the us's lack of universal health care and paid time off, and by laws that became progressively more restrictive in terms of when in a pregnancy abortions were allowed, what clinics had to do in order to be allowed to operate, and what requirements patients had to satisfy first (waiting periods, ultrasounds, &c). in practice this meant that fewer and fewer people could actually access abortion, despite having, technically, legal protection from government interference in its provision. even freedom of speech falls apart as a purely negative right, because, as i've said before, most enforcement of speech limitations actually happens via economic mechanisms like the threat of losing your jobâmeaning, the operative issue here is not usually whether the state can directly censor me but whether i risk starving to death if a corporation disliked what i said. in other words, what makes my speech vulnerable is the fact that i live in a society that does not guarantee me food, shelter, and basic necessities as positive rights.
negative rights appeal to liberals and other reactionaries because they're framed as maximising everybody's freedom: your actions are only constrained if they risk impinging on me. however, in actuality what this means is that a right defended on 'negative' grounds is basically incapable of redressing existing social and political inequities, and instead upholds or even exacerbates the power dynamics already in effect. i am actually not a huge fan of 'rights' as a legal framework period, and i think a well-defended 'positive right' is really moving beyond the construal of 'rights' and into a more materialist and socially contextualist framework, but that's a different post.

"I read some of the reblogs/tags from the proshipping post and one has got me thinking especially about the fictional minors, and certain restrictions like US not allow depictions of it. I get why this is a heated topic; but the moral responsibility should not be placed on the creators and the other people who enjoy in a fictional setting. I know that there will be really sick people who will use media as an excuse to do to certain heinous actions (like Fight Club) but i do think that is on those members of thr audience and not on the creator and those who are sensible enough not to that. There are so many things i wish i can articulate this better but i do hope that my words are enough. Let me know if you are alright discussing this with them or if you want me to stop."
i just get so tired because like.... i personally don't like that there are people who feel the need to write certain things or draw certain things and sometimes I wonder if the people who do write it need to go to therapy because maybe there's something that they could get help with.
But it sucks because like.... the moment you start policing what people write about it becomes an easy slope of "well EVERYTHING should be puritanical and censored to spare this group and that group" and suddenly it's an excuse to censor everything people consider even mildly "wrong". It's how "degenerates" are made out of homosexual and transgender people, how books are banned for talking about science, how even the most mundane of things we take for granted can so easily be labelled as "taboo" and banned.
There's so much bad that comes from censoring. If we just learned to be like you know what? There are more important things to think about than what random people online are writing about with fictional characters.
There's a reason this topic is heated and it makes sense but the whole point of the post was just to get people to think about the idea that instead of spending all day going "hey this person ships incest block them! Hate them! Send them hateful messages! Tell everyone you know to shun the beast!" it would save you so much energy and time to just.... walk away from this fictional thing you don't have to partake in. literally that's all.
But as usual it always devolves into whether people should get to draw fictional kids fucking or whatever because for some reason it's all or nothing for people.
I think the question for that post shouldn't be whether it's ok but whether we should not be dicks to the people who are like "dude if you wanna write about something I'm uncomfortable with, I'm just gonna hit da bricks"

I'm so confused by your perspectives. So if you joke about right wing politics you could potentially normalize it to yourself or to others so just don't talk about it, but you can't do that with what you read on ao3, it's "just fiction." Make it make sense
One of my problems with antis who want to censor stuff is that having to fight back against censorship means it's hard to talk about the nuances of what a person chooses to read or say or write or watch, without it being twisted into "and that's why nobody should be allowed to do it and everyone who wants to is a pedophile so we should control what people are allowed to say and read!" So here's some nuance.
All words matter and affect the people who read and say them.
How they matter and how much they matter varies dramatically from person to person, and in any individual case you can't tell what that impact is going to be or control it.
The things that have the most impact are pretty much always going to be the things with a large driving force of the dominant culture behind them, or a complete social circle that you can be absorbed into advocating for those things both in fiction and in real life. In other words, while the things you read and say affect you, the people around you affect you a lot more.
"I said this" is much more effective at training your brain than "I read this."
"Pay attention to how you joke about things that our society counts as normal" is very different from "nobody should ever be able to read/write about certain topics."
Here's an example. When Jaws came out, people were terrified of sharks. The amount of shark killings--sharks killed by human beings--skyrocketed, and remained high for years. People saw a movie about a scary shark, and generalized it to "all sharks are bad and should be killed." Which was broadly in line with the message of the film. But note that it didn't result in a similar backlash about the other message of the film, the ways in which people are endangered by politicians and businessmen who care more about profits than people's lives. Why? Because "sharks are bad and dangerous" was already part of the larger culture, and "politicians and businessmen endanger people" had a lot of cultural weight both for and against, so there were cultural forces preventing people from taking that aspect too far.
Here's another example. Finding Nemo also had a huge impact in real life, but in that case the impact was inspiring people to do the opposite of the message of the movie. The message of the movie is clear: keeping fish in aquariums is cruel and evil, and something only a villain would do. But a lot of people saw that movie, went "wow, tropical fish are cool!" and completely ignored the message and went out to buy an aquarium with tropical fish in it. There was a huge spike in pet fish sales. Why? Because keeping fish in aquariums is a normal thing to do, that a lot of people find interesting, and there is no widespread cultural idea that keeping fish is bad, and so most people who watched the movie did not notice the messaging, and if they did notice it, they shrugged and ignored it because it didn't fit with the way they saw the world.
When we talk about problematic things in fanfiction, we are not (by and large) talking about things that our culture has normalized. Like incest or the Hydra Trash Party. You could read three incest fics a day for the rest of your life, and write one a week, and unless you had real-life friends who actively talked about how incest was good, you would be vanishingly unlikely to change your opinion about it.
When we write and read fiction (whether fanfic or not) about things like incest, it's very rarely about "incest is good, actually!" It's usually either "wow, incest is a fun kink to imagine in a safe space where there's no chance of it happening in reality" or "this is a thing that happens in real life, and it's devastating and awful, so let's explore that." Or even just "wouldn't it be fucked up if ..." The human brain is complicated. It's common to have fantasies about things that you absolutely would NOT want in real life. Fiction exists partly because it's a safe space to explore those things. Yes, that has an impact on the person reading it and the person writing it ... but that impact is usually catharsis or getting off or something, and not inspiring you to be more approving of that in real life.
Even if you're reading it on a fairly surface level and not engaging with the themes or stuff like that, it's still usually long and complex enough that the act of reading it requires at least a little bit of thought and nuance. It takes time. There's a lot there to notice, and the things that stick out to you--the things that affect you--might be totally different than what someone else might expect. You can't predict how any given individual will react or what they're going to take away from it.
Jokes, on the other hand, tend to be short and pointed. There doesn't tend to be much nuance. Either you find it funny, or you don't, and if you find it funny you're a lot more likely to have your hindbrain normalize it, because it is shorter and simpler.
What you say impacts how you think much more than what you read does. There's a reason that when people try to brainwash prisoners of war or whatever, they don't require them to read propaganda, they require them to write and say it. Because the brain is not good at compartmentalizing "I said X" from "I believe X." You may know on an intellectual level that X is wrong, but if you are saying it, and also hearing it from the people and culture around you, your gut is likely to accept X as true.
Right-wing jokes have a lot of cultural weight to them in real life, and a lot of people genuinely believe that they are true. If anything is going to slip through your defenses and affect you, an "ironic" right-wing joke is much more likely to do so than a Hydra Trash Party story on AO3.
Note that I am saying "hey watch out, this is a thing," and not "people shouldn't be allowed to do it" or "people who do this are secretly all fascists deep down."
I'm not calling for censorship, or harassment. I'm asking people to be wary of a larger trend in our culture and letting them do with it what they will.

Letâs talk honestly
So I just wanna share where Iâm at these days with Tumblr, the community, and some concerning developments as of late. Firstly, I want to thank all 5k of you for supporting me for almost a decade on this platform. It has been a wild ride with ups and downs but this community has really given me an overall positive impact on my self image, bettered my writing skills, and helped to come to terms with who I am as a person and as a kinkster. So above all, I have so much gratitude for yâall, thank you.
Over the last couple of months, I have taken notice to some difficulties on behalf of Tumblr and their censorship efforts against queer erotic writing. I have had to fight more flags and community labels than ever before, and it has really affected my desire and motivation to publish more stories. If only certain folks with their mature censor turned off can read my posts, that fuckin sucks. But I admittedly got rather stoned last night and thought about why Tumblr is cracking down so viciously on our content. I think Iâve come to my own conclusion there.
I am and have been extremely alarmed by a number of tropes that have become relatively commonplace in recently posted tf prose. As I have mentioned countless times before, underage people have no business being in your sexual fantasy fiction whatsoever. The amount of writers Iâve seen recently posting stories focusing on 12-16 year of children being erotically transformed is disturbing to put it delicately. Especially those which maintain the childrenâs psychological age intact, but even without that trope it is inappropriate, unacceptable, and should not be platformed on Tumblr.
In addition, Iâd like to touch on another trope: homophobic tf. Now I have no issue whatsoever with Gay to straight, as being straight is a valid expression of sexual orientation. There is nothing wrong with featuring characters from a wide array of identities. That being said, this new content of lib to con, MAGA tf, gay bashing tf⊠itâs disgusting. In the current world we live in, these types of archetypical characters do exist in the real world and are causing real significant harm to queer folks. These groups of people are actively, in their own words, trying to eradicate the LGBT community in America. These types of people exist all over the world as well, and queer identifying people live in legitimate, actual fear for their lives. I question why we fetishize individuals who seek a literal genocide of an entire peoples, and whether it is acceptable to do so. I point to the fetishization of Nazism as an apt comparison: a hypermasculinized group of people who sought eradication of a group of people based solely on concrete identities which could not be changed. I believe we as a community have rightly deplatformed such content, and I cannot fathom why this current iteration is in such a Renaissance.
These are just two examples of obvious reasoning as to why Tumblr might righteously suppress tf erotica on their platform. Can I blame them? No. Frankly, I understand completely. If the community refuses to monitor and moderate its on content, then Tumblr as the platform most certainly will.
Iâm unsure as to what the future looks like for Ides, as this current trajectory is not something Iâd like to participate in. Iâm hoping like minded writers will be a bit more critical in choosing the tropes and prompts for their stories, but in all honesty, I have significant doubts. Rest assured, I will touch base with yâall before I do anything drastic. But in my opinion, the writing is on the wall.

I've been kind of following the Gundam lesbians vs Bandai controversy from the sidelines (ie: the main characters got married (offscreen) at the end of the series and the production team is supportive; Bandai censored the explicit mentions of marriage in a recent magazine and then said that everything is up to interpretation) and. In general it's a really good example of how oftentimes it's not authors who should mainly be blamed for the lack of unapologetic queerness in anime and manga (or anywhere else, for that matter), but those companies that they work for
Which leads me to
And as a side note I want to reiterate this but anyone who calls them "queerbait", "yuribait", etc is a stupid dickhead because Toga is bisexual and in love with Uraraka. THE QUEER IS THERE
At this point it no longer makes much sense to wonder whether the romantic undertones to Uraraka and Toga's relationship are accidental or not. I won't claim that they will definitely end up together together (although I've seen enough Japanese fans go crazy for how proposal-esque Uraraka got to, like, at least entertain the thought lol), but what I want to say is. Everything that happened between them is deliberately meant to be read as queer, romantic, and mutual. Uraraka may have not said "I love you" back to Toga in these same terms, but through her actions and words she has reciprocated her feelings. Yes, even if Those Assholes say that she's just lying, that anything that isn't spoon-fed explicitly confirmed is just a "delusional interpretation"
Even then, the supposed line between text and subtext is... a bit eyebrow raising, innit. Toga being bisexual and having feelings for Uraraka is text. Exchanging blood being equal to kissing to her is text. Her insecurities are text......... Uraraka wanting to give Toga her blood, thinking that her smile is beautiful, and that she's the cutest in the whole world is text. I feel like that strongly suggests something at minimum, no. And. Can we really call it subtext, or even coding, when characters do everything short of dramatically shouting "I gay-love you!" to each other? These are more of my personal feelings, and I know that this happens because We Live In A Society, so we tend to feel like things like these must be outright defined so that our queer interpretations can gain validity and the right to exist in the eyes of the majority (= the cishet audience), but... I do find this way of engaging with media rather stifling, especially because... people who hate us to begin with won't care if two manga girls declare their love to each other. Chances are that they will get angrier, actually, or that they will look for excuses to deny their love ("the author was pressured by crazy shippers", "akchually the wording is ambiguous", "the degenerate West is corrupting the purity of the East", you name it)
Still, I know. I know that there's a lot of hunger for undeniably canonical queer relationships (for obvious reasons! understable reasons!), but to circle back to the beginning of this post, pushing back against the system is hard. Bnha's ending is still a ways off, and no one can predict the future. We don't know if Horikoshi plans to stress even further/more bluntly within the manga that Oh, They đđłïžâđ, we don't know if Jump would allow him to, we don't know if such a thing would be met with opposition elsewhere/afterwards (see: what Bandai is trying to do now, after everything has been said and done).
Regardless, sought after explicit confirmation or not, they do have something, something that is very much there to anyone who's willing to embrace it for what it is: mutual, queer love. And they're sooo real đ©·đ
#bnha#togachako#animanga#mytext#and now we finally go to sleep. eepy.......#if tomorrow i'll wake up look at this again and find any typos i will end it all#long post

My gf has messaged me to ask me to tell yâall about Shen for the AMA so here goes (CW for some pretty nasty ableism):
Shen is an elf side character you meet in book 3. He used to be a flight navigator for their ship (which now that I think about it needs a name) but went into cryosleep pretty early once they had their trajectory set up. Because of this, when they didnât end up finding anywhere to land for longer than theyâd expected, Shen ended up spending too long in cryosleep and developing brain damage
Torathen Xi (the elf queen) and one of the doctors deemed Shen essentially brain-dead (even though the doctor knows damn well he isnât) but kept him alive to use his genetic material. When some people from Seventh Station tour the ship, Nellie finds him and is able to use her empathic magic to realize that Shen wasnât brain-dead, he was just scared and unable to communicate, and was able to get him freed (details on how are spoilers, sorry :))
Shen is completely nonspeaking, although he isnât mute - he will make sounds to get peopleâs attention or laugh like anyone else. He eventually gets an AAC board to communicate with (essentially a digital set of flash cards that use an automated voice to read out the word so people can hear him). He struggles with complicated and multi-step tasks and requires a caregiver to help him with a lot of his day-to-day activities
Shen is pretty friendly overall, but he gets very angry at being belittled or spoken down to. He also hates when people try to censor him (he had a long argument with the people who made his AAC device over whether he should get swear words which ended with Cassie hacking his AAC to put them on). But if youâre friendly and respectful and willing to not be weird about how he communicates, heâs kind and funny and very happy to make friends. He and Korriel were friends before his accident and rekindle their friendship once heâs freed
Random Shen fun fact: heâs nonbinary, although he uses he/him pronouns. âShenâ is a deliberately genderless name in the elven tongue
Hereâs a picrew of Shen. I hope yâall like him!

Here's the thing about tagging slurs. It's an inherent political statement, whether you want it to be or not. When you tag "q slur," you aren't just helping people filter it out. You are making a political statement about the original post, and derailing the point being made. When I see you tag my post with "q slur," it's saying that the preferred umbrella term mainly for those who don't want to explain the nuances of their identity to everyone they meet, is something that should be censored in some cases.
I only tag for one slur (though I am very inconsistent with my tagging of it), and that is the CB slur (c**tb*y). The reason I tag for this specific slur is because I am drawing attention to its history in the fetishization and dehumanization of people like me, and the attention being drawn to this history is important when we are discussing its use as a slur. When you tag "q slur" on unrelated posts, you are derailing the original post by talking about queer's past usage as a derogatory term. You need not do that when someone is talking about their identification with the term and not talking about the specific oppression they face.
You can tag a post with "queer" or "q" or anything similar. I'm sure your followers know how to filter out specific words in posts, too, so they can just choose to filter out any posts that include the word queer in them. But when you tag a queer person identifying as queer as "q slur," you are making a political statement about what you think of this person's identity. That is why I, and many others, do not want you to tag our posts with "q slur."

PĂA RAMBLES #8
you might have seen this post or this wip intro. i'm here to talk about this book because i think it's really cool @teddywriting and i wrote almost 40k words by simply playing dolls with our ocs.
(yes i will be using screencaps of before sunrise, 1995 for any and all subsequent updates regarding this project thank you very much)
what's weird about this book in particular is that, despite maripaz and theo taking up way too much space in my brain, it's also incredibly hard to talk about them?? i know every single detail about them down to what they might order to eat at a mcdonald's, and yet i feel no one outside from teddy and i really knows these characters. their lore is weird and a bit convoluted and explaining it feels like i'm trying to explain the plot of a television show with like 18 seasons of character development you just had to be there to witness to understand even a fraction of it.
but first some basics about the actual book
title: babylon boy (book 1 of the home habitat duology)
genre: literary fiction
category: i say adult because there will be no censoring of topics but in this first installment our protagonists are around eighteen years old. you might consider that ya but i wouldn't
a small summary: having independently run away from home for their own reasons, theo and maripaz meet while homeless on the streets and form an alliance of convenience to survive. while theo vehemently denies the drug addiction heâs nursing, maripaz tries to deal with the way both want and revulsion seem to exist in her at the same time. falling in love is probably the easiest thing they do.
teddy and i are co-authoring, as in we both write the words. they will be primarily working on theo's chapters and i will be primarily working on maripaz's chapters but we'll both be involved in fully crafting this story.
talking about your book is hard when all that happens in it is character work so even whether someone gets sick at one point feels like a spoiler you want people to be surprised by.
we created mari and theo in 2020 on a whim. i can't even remember what prompted it exactly. we wanted a new pair of characters to play with and we decided to make two assholes to bicker and be mean to each other. this iteration saw three reincarnations before we put the characters on the shelf and almost resigned ourselves to them being a miss... if not for one important detail... i really, really believed they should have kissed. this first version of them would eventually be known as the homeless au.
looking back it's Wild thinking about how different mari and theo used to be. we moved onto new aus to play around with, landing on a superhero-type beat that became their new canon for a while. we had fantasy and sci-fi and musicians and hadestown and the raven cycle (that last one did so much for us it's insane). every new thing we tried shaped them more and more until they were unrecognisable from their original versions. one day i really want to go through their threads from start to finish and look at that change in real time.
there was a new thesis to their characters and it was no longer "what if two awful guys with issues were forced together and tried to bite each other's heads off". instead we were looking at two characters that through every new incarnation became more sincere and gentle. they had meta-narrative character development.
(every new au also gave us more characters to populate the world including but not limited to theo's twin sister, maripaz's seven siblings, alex, philip, a whole lot of parental figures, a quirky cast of friends... but i'll talk about them some other time)
then i did it again. in the 2.0 version of the homeless au there was one scene i loved beyond words where an argument between our two protagonists resulted in maripaz punching theo right on the mouth. when she tried to swing a second time he stopped her hand and warned her that if she wanted to hit him he would hit back. they fought and the scene ended. i said to teddy: they should have kissed. we laughed and imagined how homeless au would go now that their characters had changed so much. we started thinking about it more and more until we were moving the pieces of their cinematic universe around to fit this new idea... and suddenly we had plot for a book that would revamp that original homeless au... and a sequel too! (but more on that second one another time)
teddy started a rp thread of what came right after the opening scene of babylon boy, where theo and maripaz would shoplift and he would steal the angel necklace she wore (<- this is important)... and we just kept going... and going. we'd already had a few keys scenes to work towards, one those being that punching scene that started it all, as well as the ending. teddy added two new scenes we began calling the halo scene and the church scene, and we moved something we called the pool scene into this book from another au. we just had to fill in the blanks... fill in the blanks we did.
these right here are the names i gave each individual thread of the roleplay-ification of babylon boy. their purpose is not so much to be chapter titles but to make specific scenes easy to find for future reference. though obviously i had to be a bit artistic about it.
i don't know if babylon boy will have chapter titles, and if they will have some sort of theme going on (usually i like just putting two words together to create some imagery). "angel face" is probably what i would title chapter 1, but i also hesitate on that decision because i think i would like to save angel for later.
these threads are less of a draft and more the skeleton of a draft, that's why i called it a draft 0. its purpose is to give teddy and i direction and reading through them i already know how i want to shift the timeline and how i'd rewrite some of the scenes to make them a lot better, but it did give us a great cause and effect look of things. the way teddy and i approach our roleplay threads is more loose than what i do with @on-the-river-lethe (with whom i'm currently roleplaying draft 1 of our book lupine trail and also a giant hunger games au). fluffy and i write responses between 1k-4k words, they are basically chapters. teddy and i instead do a quick call and response, mostly focused on dialogue, we build on top of each other and neither of us really knows where a thread will go when we start.
there are no actual non-roleplay words written for babylon boy thus far. teddy is in charge of chapter 1 as we open with theo's pov but we are both busy or focused on other things. right now we're enjoying the playing around stage of the process (which i don't see going away even once we start seriously writing, i know for a fact we'll probably do various roleplay-type passes to babylon boy).
you've probably noticed the christian imagery is rampant here. it happened kind of by accident and the already mentioned halo scene is entirely to blame for it. like i said, teddy and i have this very "yes, and," approach to storytelling together where we kinda build on top of what the other puts down. teddy gave me the description of one (1) scene where theo sees a halo of light around maripaz's head and i decided "well, this is now i thing that is here to stay". church scene really brought it all together and there is a scene in book 2 adeptly nicknamed the angel scene that is kind of the culmination of this.
the imagery is almost exclusive to theo's pov as mari is more the subject of the imagery than the one pushing it forward. teddy and i will be doing our most to fill this book with visuals: characters lined with stained glass windows, lights shaped like hearts, signs and graffiti that say meaningful stuff.
babylon boy, as the title suggests, is more theo's book. both he and maripaz have meaningful arcs but theo's is really at the core of it, mari takes centre stage in book 2 (titled gossamer girl). i think i talked about this somewhere before but the titles just kind of... happened. gossamer was relevant for that superhero au and it's just a word i really adore so i wanted to use it on the title. you can't go wrong with alliteration so gossamer girl it is. and because i love when books in a series match i had to do something with boy. like gossamer i adore babylon for some reason, and so we got babylon boy. i wasn't sure about that one because while gossamer girl made sense with the theme, what did "babylon boy" even mean, exactly? teddy came in clutch and analysed the title for me. they connected it to theo's drug addiction and now i can't think of any two titles that are more perfect for this series.
like i said, there are no actual words written for this book so sadly i cannot share any excerpts. but i will share
Festival was very much the result of teddy and i having just watched before sunrise, 1995
we watched before sunrise, 1995 because the mannerisms of the two leads reek of maripaz and theo
"until a miracle happens" became a recurring thing said in the draft and it wrecked me
Our Fears is probably my favourite thread both thematically and visually. followed closely by Church Angels, though that one is mostly visually
The Pool is the longest thread with about 90 responses and all of it is beautiful. i would probably consider it the companion to Our Fears
"mutual pining they're both just idiots"
the closing image is probably my favourite one of the book
the core themes are very much trust, love, and communal help. we've got such an array of npcs who simply... help. i love the human race.
i'll probably do another update before we start properly writing talking about maripaz and theo as characters specifically. a bit of a crash course on who they are, really.
anyway. i'm giving you a golden star if you read all of that â do ask me or teddy about this story!! we'd be happy to talk about it. or even just about the characters.
cheers, pĂa

Okay, it may be time for another one of these sort of inbox reply compilation posts, regarding the same post Problem #5168 and the ensuing reply exchange.
One more reply from the OP of #5168, responding to this ask:
Being passive aggressive and acting superior is ALSO rude. Therefore, since it was done in reply to my submission, i have every right to swear and tell that person where they can shove it. Im not trying to say you cant give me what i give you. Swear at me too if you want. Idgaf. I just refuse to be told how to speak. People wanna act like they no longer take me seriously because i swear, but decide to argue with me and tell me they dont like that i swear. Make it make sense. idk why I'm being singled out lol. Maybe because I'm actually responding to it. Hardly do i ever curse at people. I didnt call anyone a bitch or use any particularly offensive language or anything. All my cursing in my submission was used to express my anger with the exception of telling vague people to fuck off. I swore only 8 times. Yet the first anon that submission got acted like it was truly difficult for their pure, swearword free mind to read. Like seriously how does cursing and being angry make something "hard to read"? They must have a hard time reading everything here. Honestly i think they should look to read somewhere else because this blog is all about people's problems. Everyone's angry about something or another. Ig my submission was just tooo angry for people. Guess i crossed a line by being angry and cursing in my submission. Its such a stupid thing to argue about too cuz most of these people agree to some extent but for some reason they just cant handle me being upset? I can't wrap my head around why they care so damned much about whether or not an argument has swearwords or not. There's literally no need for me to censor myself here.
And a few others' replies, regarding this exchange.
Anon:
My dude, you're accusing others of missing the point, yet in your very first paragraph you're already going on about "professionalism" when that's not what anyone else was talking about. You're putting words in their mouths.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
This is becoming such a strange conversation... Even if someone is being passive aggressive and or a dick to you, stooping to their level and then some by telling them to shove a post up their ass is just childish. Secondly, are you willingly ignoring how that anon pointed out that nobody cared if you responded "professionally", it was about just doing the bare minimum? "Professional" is a pretty wild word to use, nobody was suggesting you have to sound like you're working as a bank teller. Maybe the other anon pulled something out of their ass but where did "professional" come from but your own ass...? I don't know, just reading this whole thing is just perplexing me. ^^;;;
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
Can the two people arguing through the askbox get a room already
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
So this whole "fuck" debacle is happening, and I can't stop laughing because all I can think of is this scene: https://youtu.be/PmCLeTqD4hY?feature=shared&t=44
(It is a YouTube link to a clip from the South Park Movie)

The fact that thereâs like 50 separate substacks going on right now and ONLY the Letters from Watson organizer is getting hate for NOT CENSORING OR REWRITING THE STORIES is making me fucking lose my mind
Especially since to my knowledge theyâre the *only* one that put the effort into organizing thorough content warnings and the early emails warned people that the writing contains a lot of Victorian-typical bigotries, so of the dozens of substacks going around has made the most effort to prevent people from being blindsided
AND YET?? Somehow itâs being framed as âwhy would you present this content unchallenged!!â Especially by READERS OF DRACULA DAILY who never made a single post about how Matt Kirkland should have censored the book?? There was a lot of drama back in the day about whether it was bad to read the emails or post about them since Dracula is a Problematic Book, but not a word about âI canât believe Matt Kirkland is including language like this in a 2022 publication!!â
Why is it that readers of Dracula Daily understood that *we* are the ones who can discuss and challenge the content, vs putting the full responsibility on someone breaking up a public domain book into emails? No one is saying âyou should never discuss or challenge antisemitism!â
We were totally fine with holding discussions over the xenophobia, ableism, etc in Dracula, and didnât demand all of those discussions to be prepackaged for us by a single person sending emails. We can do the same here! We didnât reblog posts all âI canât believe Matt Kirkland left the Renfield subplot inâŠâ or âwhy did Matt Kirkland not include his commentary on the heroes excluding Mina from their plans??â Would we even WANT that??
#letters from watson#dracula daily#I thought it was obvious the OP was in bad faith and unreasonable#but then I saw some big names reblogging it and agreeing and#INCLUDING DRAC DAILY FANS which is baffling levels of hypocrisy
