Okay okay so. I don't know why but trolls are like. Little bugs to me. So I want to give them a few small bug traits, make them little creatures.

And pupation seemed like the most fun way to do that. A pupa is an insect's life stage where they undergo metamorphosis between larval and adult forms. In real life, most pupation involves larval structures breaking down while adult structures like wings develop—in that case of caterpillars, the bug sees itself liquified during the process (while still retaining memories of pre-pupation! neat!).

Of course, in canon, we see baby and child trolls all the time, and they're not that different from the main characters. So troll pupation isn't as drastic as it is for most real-life insects in my headcanon; rather, it might be better described as spedrun puberty.

So. The headcanon itself. At about 12 or 13 years of age, a trolling will start to experience a surge in appetite and drop in metabolism. I'm not entirely decided yet on whether the cocoon is something that they build up over time from spun/shed hairs, or if it's something more instantaneous formed directly from their hair—though I'm leaning more towards the latter.

The troll spends most of their pupation asleep. Body structures don't need to break down to the extent seen in real-life insects, so while some semi-drastic changes do happen (genitals develop and become accessible, though they won't be fully functional for a few years yet; hair lengthens and becomes stronger + able to shift color and length; new adult teeth, fur, and claws grow in), the troll remains pretty much intact the entire way through the process.

When they emerge, the troll isn't actually a full adult yet; though most of the major changes have been ticked off, it still takes a few years of regular growth before they can be considered fully mature.

And I headcanon Pop Trolls to be one of the most adaptable genres (since pop is literally defined as "whatever's popular," though the genre itself has a few defining features), though all trolls pupate regardless of genre. So trolls that are under a lot of stress or caught in unusual conditions may find themselves emerging from their pupations with new features outside of what's normally expected. These adaptations aren't super drastic—for example, a Pop Troll raised by Techno Trolls wouldn't emerge with the exact same structure as a Techno Troll; rather, they'd get webbed paws and bigger lung capacity (maybe bioluminescence if they're lucky) at the most. So why does Branch pupate at fifteen in my headcanons? Simple: he's gray. Let's talk about whether Adam is able to ejaculate, far be it from me to not jump at the opportunity to discuss any monsters genitals, the book gives no indication either way. Whether he's capable of becoming erect depends entirely on whether he has blood pumping through his veins as a human would. The book also gives no indication of this one way or another to my recollection, although I could be misremembering. He speaks of wounds he has but never of blood one way or the other. Victor says he gave him veins and his brain and nervous system are fully operational and he breaths which would seem to imply the presence of a circulatory system of some kind, however his skin is described as mummified when Walton sees him for the first time, so theres no circulation to the skin. Whether that's because he has opaque human leather for skin which the blood does not reach or because his circulatory system functions by some means other than blood. He feels the sensation of cold and warmth but seems to be unnaffected by being at the north pole in any manner other than discomfort which to me implies his blood cannot freeze. Whether he bleeds when injured is a question only Adam can answer given that he's the only one who has ever seen himself bleed.

So there is evidence for and evidence against Mr. Adam Frankenstein being able to raise his little monster from the grave. To me this says that Mary Shelley did not think that hard about the logistics and was more interested in telling a story than in how the monster was made, or perhaps, owing to the time in which she was born, did not have the knowledge of human anatomy required to give these things consideration and just gave her monster traits of "a person but more".

But anyway, back to Adam's little creature. We can infer by Victor's fear that they will have children that he gave Adam balls a dick a urethra a prostate a vas deferens. The whole nine yards. Whether those balls can produce semen is anyone's guess but Adam seems to be capable of digestive, circulatory, and nervous function all of which requires the body to produce it's own fluids in theory so why not sexual function.

Men pay child support while women can just have an abotion

This is a very strange argument. Because firstly not every country has fully legal abortions. 47 countries only allow it for health reasons, 43 to save the mother’s life and 22 it is fully illegal. A lot of men like this seem to forget that there are other countries on this planet. I’d personally rather be the gender that has to pay child support for an unwanted baby. Even in the case of legal abortions, abortions are not easy to go through. It is mentally very difficult and can be an invasive procedure. Women are shamed for having abortions in every country, even the most ‘accepting’ places.

Circumcision

I am very against circumcision and this was probably his most valid point(?) But his point excludes the fact that FGM is practiced in many countries and cultures. And while male circumcision is usually done for religious reasons claiming its ‘hygienic’ and has little to no bad side effects while FGM can kill women and girls, and is done for far more malicious reasons that I can’t even begin to describe.

Men’s drinks night

Going to prison because of a simple accusation and less abuse shelters for men

This is the craziest point because men do not go to prison over some random accusation pulled out from thin air. In order to accuse someone of abuse, you need extensive indisputable evidence. Even then, the police will not take it seriously or the defence will win the case for whatever reason. These are the hardest crimes to prove in a court and the statistics show this. Less abuse shelters for men because they are far FAR less likely to be a victim. Yes, its’s sad but this literally proves misogyny is a thing rather than misandry - because I know damn well which sex I’d rather be in this instance.

People laugh at male rape victims and women are given full support/legal justice

I addressed this in the previous point. Women are ridiculed and not believed/not given justice at an extremely higher rate than men.

Longer male prison sentences

Same stereotype that I’ve said before about being stronger/braver vs weak/nurturing. The stereotype was made to benefit them. Also this ignores that a lot of the time there are other aspects to a crime that result in a higher sentence given. For example 1st degree murder done for financial motive vs sexual motive.

Larger male homeless population and male suicide rate

I guess this is more of a question of why men are more likely to be homeless or commit suicide. Make suicide rate studies suggest it’s harder for men to admit mental health struggles/reach out for help. Again, it’s sad but the strong brave stereotype was designed to benefit them, like I’ve said before. Permanent homelessness is largely due to addiction, mental health, childhood poverty, financial crisis, loss of relationships to family/partner. These can all happen to women, except a lot of the female homeless population are trafficked, resort to prostitution, enter abusive relationships to escape the streets. In a lot of countries, people seem to think its 99% men that are homeless, but its usually not. You just typically only see male homeless people sitting/sleeping on the street in public spaces - that’s a more terrifying place for a woman to be compared to a man.

- Thinks USA/Europe/western countries are the only places that exist

- Can’t see that bad things that happen to men are actually a result of stereotypes designed to benefit the male population

- Makes up statistics in his head that aren’t true

A charity that received funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation asked kids questions like “Do you ever play with your dick?” Fucking groomers

A Dutch foundation dedicated to youth sexual education is under fire after producing a video featuring children being quizzed on sex and masturbation.

On March 20, the Rutgers Foundation uploaded a video titled Wat vind ik fijn (Eng: What Do I like?) to social media. The charity, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, purports to focus on issues of childhood sexuality and sex education. 

The 5-minute long video produced by Rutgers was intended to kick off “Spring Jitters Week,” a national project encouraging the expansion of sexual education in primary schools.

In the video, young children of varying ages are seen discussing sexual topics with their parents or guardians. But the graphic nature of the conversations left many viewers disturbed. 

In one of the first scenes, a 6-year-old boy named Loek is spoken to by his gay male fathers. 

“Do you like it when someone is petting you,” one of the adult men asks, to which the boy shakes his head. The man continues: “And what about being tickled?”

Loek responds, “That, I do!” 

“Oh, we’ll have to do that every night then before you sleep.”

Speaking to a 9-year-old girl naked Puk, her mother says: “Sex is not only for when you’re just making babies. I’ve said before that it’s also fun to do. You discover how your body works and how my body works.”

She continues: “Not only boys can have an orgasm. Girls, too, can have an orgasm. But they don’t have ejaculation then, because we don’t have sperm. But it’s a nice feeling. And uhm, you’ve obviously looked at your vagina before haven’t you?”

The adult later begins to describe the external female genital anatomy to the girl, as she sits silently.

“You have your inner labia and there are two little holes there, one for peeing and one where the baby comes out. And above those holes is also a kind of button. Did you ever see that or not?”

The girl shakes her head in disagreement, prompting her mother to respond: “You’ve never studied it like that before, huh? The little button you call your clitoris. To a 4-year-old boy named Mats, equally as invasive questions are posed about penises and masturbation.

“What about you? Do you ever play with your dick? Do you ever touch your willie,” his mother asks. “Yes, and how does that feel? And when do you do that?”

The young boy responds that he is unsure of how to answer.

His mother continues with a barrage of questions:  “Do you do that when we’re eating? No, right? Or in the classroom? No, not at all. Why don’t you do that in class? When can you play with your dick?”

To another boy, referring to sex as “fucking or sucking” is suggested by his mother and father.

Less than 24 hours after the video was released, the Rutgers Foundation deleted the video, claiming it was being taken “out of context” by some.

“We find that the video is being taken out of context by some people online and used to spread misinformation. To protect the children in the video, we have taken the video offline,” the foundation wrote on their official Twitter.

But shortly after, Forum voor Democratie (FvD), a Dutch right-wing populist party, re-uploaded the deleted video to raise awareness for what they called the “sexually tinted propaganda” children were being exposed to. 

Rutgers is now threatening to sue the FvD to have the content removed from the internet, but the FvD is refusing to delete the content. 

A spokesperson for the party has said that the video will not be removed because they believe Rutgers is attempting to scrub their past.

“It is very clear that Rutgers feels caught and that it is doing everything it can to cover its dirty tracks. We consider it a matter of public interest to make public the sexually objectionable material of Rutgers.”

Rutgers has since submitted a copyright request to YouTube to remove FvD’s upload from the site, citing that the “parents and children have not given FvD permission to publish the images.” Rutgers claims that they are trying to “defend the protection of [the] children to the highest court.” 

Rutgers Netherlands addressed the situation from their Twitter in late March, saying it is “utter nonsense” that the lessons as part of the “Week of Spring Jitters” sexualize children. They stand behind the claim that: “Research shows that children who are well informed actually start having sex later.”

Rutgers says that the video “has taken on a life of its own on social media.” They said they removed the video “to protect the children in the video,” but sexuality education expert Luc Lauwers says that both Rutgers “and the parents in the video remain fully committed to the content.”

The Rutgers Foundation has previously come under fire from critics concerned about the appropriateness of their recommended sex education curriculums, some of which encourage children to be educated on sex from birth.

In a document distributed by the Rutgers Foundation for youth aged “0-18,” a list of recommended reading materials are provided. Amongst them, a book recommended for 6-year-olds titled What is sex?features education and instruction on oral pleasure.

The book was the point of a Dutch parliamentary debate in March when the Education Minister, Dennis Wiersma, was challenged by Forum voor Democratie on its contents.

The Forum party was supported by DENK, a left-wing party focused on immigrant rights, which similarly expressed concerns about the “Spring Jitters Week” curriculum being pushed by Rutgers.

“There’s a teacher’s guide that says: ‘Tell students that it’s nice to touch yourself and that it’s nice to touch genitals.’ We are talking about children of 5 years of age being told this… Those teachers should teach children to read and write, instead of telling them that it is important or nice to touch genitals,” said DENK’s Stephen Van Baarle.

“Spring Jitters Week” took place in some 2,000 primary schools across the Netherlands in March of this year. 

According to the website for the Spring Jitters project: “One of the goals of the Spring Jitters Week is to introduce schools to relational and sexuality education. It is a fun way to give school-wide attention to relationships and sexuality.” 

The theme of “What do I like?” is advertised on the website as a positive introduction to sexual education. 

On June 6, Twitter user Gender is Harmful uploaded a clip from the Rutgers video, commenting that it was an example of “queer theory in action.” The upload mistakenly attributed the video to the World Health Organization.

In response to the clip, many users expressed incredulity at the footage, with many questioning if the translations were indeed accurate.

“It’s one thing when children discover this for themselves, but why on earth do they think adults need to teach children to masturbate,” one user replied.

Many noted that the children looked “visibly uncomfortable,” and that it was inappropriate for adults to be filmed discussing intimate details on sexual pleasure with children.

“Genital preference” is an extremely loaded and fraught term. It is the site of particular types of sexual violence against trans women specifically. It is based on the assumption that attraction to the rest of a person’s body and their genitals can be fully disconnected from one another, that genitals hold some essential quality that can be judged on an attractiveness scale regardless of the bodies they’re attached to, that what genitals a person has prescribes a very specific and narrow set of sexual acts that can be engaged in. This is transphobic rhetoric, full stop.

And for the last fucking time I’m not “pressuring” anyone into having sex with people they don’t like. Nobody is telling you to “hurt yourself” into liking a penis. What are your thoughts on umineko now that you (i presume) have finished it- what are your feeling on the themes and the presentation of the characters?

It's hard to go into everything so I'll just try to cover the stuff I can think of now. Placing it below a break for an obviously spoiler-filled read.

Short answer: it's good all the way down, genuinely can't think of a single element that left a lingering bad taste in my mouth, quite frankly might have retroactively made some things I enjoyed in the past less good. Read Umineko.

(for posterity, I see that people use "Sayo Yasuda" as the catch-all when speaking about Beato/Shannon/Kanon/Clair/etc. collectively, so I'll be doing the same)

Truth and Fiction

I think what Umineko has to say about the importance of truth and the importance of fiction, especially as related to coping with trauma, is fascinating. Conventional wisdom is that, in order to cope with trauma, the best- and maybe only real- way forward is to acknowledge the truth, work through the resulting pain, and then you can actually begin to heal. And- in basically every case that springs to mind- Umineko goes "that's bullshit".

Like, as I currently scan through the cast: what good did being confronted with the truth do for Sayo, or Maria, or Ange, or even Natsuhi? Sayo would probably still be unbalanced but not go full tilt if she hadn't realized that the entire purpose for her extended existence was to to give Kinzo the opportunity to feel forgiven for raping his daughter. A 9-year-old stands to gain less than nothing from being told, in no uncertain terms, that her mother is just a Bad Person. Ange finally understood that by the end of Episode 3, but couldn't get over it and poisoned herself with the Single Truth. There is literally zero reason for Bernkastel and Erika tearing down Natsuhi's illusion that Kinzo gave a single fuck about her but their own cruelty. The thrust of Umineko in this regard is that, at the end of the day, your coping mechanism ends with you- it's not capable of doing any more or any less than you are capable of without it.

However, it also doesn't purport that the coping mechanism needs to be there forever. The epilogue with Ange suggests that, eventually, she no longer needed to have everyone at her side to give her the strength to keep going.

There's only one other story that I've encountered where a character chooses to continue engaging with their trauma coping mechanism and it isn't presented as a bad thing (rot13: Fnzhenv Synzrapb), and I think Umineko makes that point much more effectively.

Gender

I've noted a couple of times in my reading that seeing a not-insignificant amount of unconnected "BEATO TRANS" art and memes influenced the way I thought about the story at some parts, mainly once The Mystery Baby manifested in Episode 5. Taking that into consideration, I think the way Gender As It Pertains To The Story is handled maybe better than anything else I've ever engaged with.

Direct discussion is brought up exactly one time- when Will asks Lion if they're a boy or girl- and Ryukishi07 then trusts the reader to Understand The Implications of that. Which is actually a recurring thing in the story: the reader is never told, explicitly, textually, who Beatrice is, nor what happened on Rokkenjima, which is a pretty bold move to make in (what could be described) as a mystery!

(Actually, it's twice, since someone mentions that Zepar and Furfur are also indeterminately gendered, but it doesn't seem as relevant in the moment as Will asking about Lion does in that moment, although in hindsight, it obviously is)

I had mentioned that I was a little anxious about whether or not they would dig into what Sayo meant when they were dressing down Genji and Nanjo for keeping her alive- if they would hackishly reveal that the only part of their body that was damaged was their genitals, and that's why they considered themselves furniture, or if it was more abstract, knowing that literally everyone they felt any kind of love for was off-limits due to the incest. @random-tree suggested that another popular theory is that Nanjo- intentionally or otherwise (because it was the 60's)- performed "corrective" surgery on an intersex baby Sayo. Ultimately, I'm glad that the gritty details were never dug into; in the same way that the narrative condemns the people desperate to know the Single Truth as intellectual rapists, it completely sails around even raising the opportunity to do the same to Sayo's body.

And then every single episode had at least one extended sequence that could be slotted in to Shonen Jump without anyone batting an eyelash.

For however I come across writing big long screeds like this about the stories I engage with, I am a shonen meathead in my heart of hearts. I love watching characters power up out of nowhere because they have determination, I love watching villains get outplayed because they underestimated their opponent- OR DID THEY?, I love Battler and Beato doing the Erupting God Burning Sekiha Love-Love Tenkyouken to defeat Erika. I drink all that up like water, and the fact that it was completely genuine was such an unexpected delight.

I mean, shit, Ange's masterpiece as a writer is not-One Piece.

Ryukishi07 was a social worker (you say) who wasn't driven cynical and hollow

Knowing nothing about Ryukishi07 besides the facts that A.) he wrote Umienko (and Higurashi and Ciconia, which I haven't read) and B.) he was a social worker in his past, paints a tremendously impressive picture of the man. Being a social worker is a potentially soul crushing job, in a completely different way than that term is typically used, and to come out the other end and write something so optimistic speaks to his character.

Like, there is exactly one character I complained about as being a one-dimensional waste of time, and that was Kasumi, who was ultimately literally just a vector for Ange to come to terms with Eva. It would've been such an easy decision to make any of the adult Ushiromiyas also be one-dimensional nothings. Like, even Gohda has something going on: he a glory-hogging oafish dumbass, but he's genuinely passionate about cooking! And even the characters who are beyond redemption- in no particular order, Rosa, Kinzo, Erika, and Bernkastel- you can at least see some reason for why they are the way they are, even if they don't actually earn (or even try to get) forgiveness.

I also don't think I have ever been as emotionally devastated by the two-hit combo of "Maria's 'verbal tic' is actually Maria trying to cast a spell to make Rosa love her" and "Rosa bought Sakutarou and pretended she made it", so, props for that as well.

I could probably rattle off more things I like if pressed, and if there was anything in particular you'd like me to comment on I'd be happy to, but those were my biggest thoughts.

Wow.

Listen. The claim that Israelis might "fear that if Palestinians were free, they might visit the same horror on them that they callously inflicted on the Palestinians" does not need to be treated as a philosophical question of guilt and mercy and all this other stuff.

Literally four and a half months ago, Hamas, which actively oppresses Palestinians in Gaza - and has for 18 years, ever since it kicked the Palestinian government out in a violent coup - showed you why Israelis are afraid.

They are afraid of Hamas. Their borders with Gaza, like Egypt's, are closed because of Hamas. They are now united with actual Palestinians in Gaza in their fear of Hamas.

Hamas claimed to be the Palestinian resistance.

It broke through the border. And in one day, fueled by a ton of drugs, thousands of its fighters laid waste to 22 towns, killed more than 1200 people, took 242 hostages ranging from a 10 month old baby to an 85 year old Holocaust survivor, and systematically raped, mutilated, and burned everyone they encountered.

Explictly because Hamas sees Jews as "the enemy." Hamas has been extremely clear about this for decades.

At least one of its members was recorded calling home in the middle of the attack to boast about having "killed 10 Jews with my own hands."

Hamas leaders explicitly stated, on the record, that they would come back and repeat the massacre "again and again and again," until Israel had been violently destroyed.

This is a little of what they did. It is no longer the worst of it. The more I learn, the more horrific it gets.

"I inspected bodies that had been repeatedly stabbed, shot, and crushed. I examined mutilated bodies, restrained with cables, electrical cords, and zipties, still in place post-mortem, and those that had been decapitated and incinerated at temperatures approaching 3,000 degrees Celsius.

Sergeant Major Natah Katz from the IDF Rabbinical Unit at the Shura base near Ramle described to me cadavers he received with breasts and genitals hacked off, one with a knife impaled directly into the vagina. Major Gen. Itai Veruv... said he saw that “some people came out with their children and [Hamas attackers] killed them. They killed babies in front of their parents and then killed the parents. They killed parents and we found babies between the dogs and their families killed before him.”

Over the last several weeks, NBC News has reviewed five interrogations of captured Hamas fighters, an Arabic-language document that instructed Hamas how to pronounce “Take off your pants” in Hebrew, six images of naked or partially naked deceased female bodies, seven eyewitness accounts of sexual violence including both rape and mutilation, 11 testimonies of first responders, and two accounts from workers in morgues who handled the bodies of women after they were recovered from the massacre.

The evidence, primarily from the Israel Defense Forces and Israeli officials, suggests that dozens of Israeli women were raped or sexually abused or mutilated during the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks. According to first responders, one was mutilated with a pair of scissors and another stabbed with a knife. The genitals of some men who had been killed were mutilated as well. 

Israeli officials say that Hamas militants were instructed to systematically carry out sexual violence on women and children. “This was systematic gender-based violence that was so horrific it’s hard for me to find the words,” said Cochav Elkayam-Levy, the chair of a newly created Civil Commission on Oct. 7th Crimes by Hamas Against Women and Children.

Two Israeli investigators cautioned against the use of precise numbers of rape victims at this stage. They told NBC News that evidence continues to come in and that the investigation is likely to go on for months.

The most voluminous evidence is of bodily mutilation of sexual organs by bullet, knife or even scissors, according to an NBC News analysis of the evidence currently available. “They had a thing with sexual organs, both in women and men,” a first responder told police in videotaped testimony. 

A woman whose job it was to open the body bags of women and prepare their bodies for burial told NBC News in an interview Monday that she saw multiple female corpses that had been mutilated. “They were shot in the vagina, they were shot in the breast,” she said. “And this seemed like a systematic attempt at genital mutilation.”

During interrogations, captured Hamas militants talked about raping women and children as a Hamas tactic of war. “To have our way with them, to dirty them, to rape them,” said one Hamas militant during a videotaped interrogation.

Haim Outmezgine, commander of a special unit of Zaka, which collects the remains of the dead, told The Sunday Times it was clear Hamas terrorists aimed to sexually assault women.

“We collected 1,000 bodies in ten days from the festival site and kibbutzim,” he said.

“No one saw more than us. It was clear they were trying to spread as much horror as they could — to kill, to burn alive, to rape … it seemed their mission was to rape as many as possible.”

Architect Shari, who has volunteered at the Shura military base to help identify and prepare corpses for burial, said she was horrified at the scale of the violence inflicted upon women by Hamas.

“They were all young women. Most in little clothing or shredded clothing and their bodies bloodied particularly round their underwear and some women shot many times in the face as if to mutilate them.

“Their faces were in anguish and often their fingers clenched as they died. We saw women whose pelvises were broken. Legs broken. There were women who had been shot in the crotch, in the breasts … there seems no doubt what happened to them.”

Over the decade I lived in South Africa, I became fascinated by this white minority [i.e. the whole white population post-apartheid as a minority in the country], particularly its members who considered themselves progressive. They reminded me of my liberal peers in America, who had an apparently self-assured enthusiasm about the coming of a so-called majority-minority nation. An Afrikaner poet who did prison time under apartheid for aiding the Black-liberation cause wrote an essay denouncing the new Black-led country as “a sewer of betrayed expectations and thievery, fear and unbridled greed.”

What accounted for this disillusionment? Many white South Africans told me that Black forgiveness felt like a slap on the face. By not acting toward you as you acted toward us, we’re showing you up, white South Africans seemed to hear. You’ll owe us a debt of gratitude forever.

this is story about a girl named lucky NO. this is a post about how i have seizures related to (mostly) nonsexual vaginal penetration and rape. im thinking aloud in writing here. this is me working it out

any type of vaginal penetration anything going up there that isnt a body part attached to a person always gives me a bodily reaction like im about to heave my guts out from the DEPTHS of my abdomen and pass out .

i had two seizure type experiences but i dont think they were actual seizures. its just the closest thing to describe it

ive almost fainted a couple times like at least five putting in a tampon. i had one full seizure type reaction in my shower after putting a tampon in. my legs seized up and started shaking uncontrollably and i was starting to lose sight, everything in black and yellow and fainting and i fell onto the side of my tub and my arms were shaking too but i could move like it wasnt impossible and i pulled my tampon out and lay there until i could feel my body again

i know why now but. its so fucked up.

i need to practice IN sexual situations to get used to it. like if i struggle with my fingers, i can at least get a small dildo or thin vibrator or something to start. make it about that pleasure instead of me being fully responsible for it while still being in control.

i had barbies play out rape fantasies. thats what they were even if i didn't know it. id act out rape fantasies when playing pretend. rape, humiliation, objectification. i was aroused by that and knew something was happening inside me even if i didnt know it was arousal. at four years old. five years old. my first fantasies that were visual, not me involved and on purpose were around 8 years old. it was a saturday after church and family friends were over. i was dressing up for a play we were about to put on for them lol. theres even a photo of that day stuck by a magnet on our family fridge. right now. all i had was disney really. i wasnt exposed to much else so naturally... almost all my fantasies even from early on were Disney based lol. this flash i had was of snow white sitting on a giant's palm on his fingers. hes moving his fingers around as she giggles and gasps and arches her back as he jostles her around on his giant fingers. i just kept thinking of that. i couldn't STOP. and now the imagery is so fucking clear to me. as a tween, i purposely lay in bed and tried to masturbate with NO touching bc that made me feel sick, but by clenching and flexing alone til i got that 'funny dizzy feeling' (arousal, pleasure) and i was of belle being hung by her wrists from a wooden ceiling beam. she was wearing the strapless barbie nightie my aunt made, and gaston was there and had tied her up. he went head first up the skirt and touched her everywhere until he was in her shirt at her chest and she cried and struggled. always something with powerlessness. i used to pretend to be penny fron rescuers. and id hook the straps of my dress up with the handle of the carpet broom and pretend i was being held up by the crocodiles exposing my underwear. i was five. i knew i was doing something secret and 'wrong' because id hide it and be scared of being caught doing it in the living room. alice in wonderland, stuck in the house as she grew top big. she cant move and no one will listen and they can enter the front door and do whatever they want to her if they choose to. i thought of that scene all the time. it looked like how i felt.

this post isn’t saying that you can’t/shouldn’t want a baby/to be pregnant/to give birth, but it does talk about why one wouldn’t want to, so if you’d rather not read then don’t. note that if any information is inaccurate that’s because the most research i did for this post was googling ‘are babies parasites’ and reading the first sentence of the first result. i am 17 and have never been pregnant or done anything that could get me pregnant. this is a post about fears and discomforts based on observations and memories. this also refers to having vagina + boobs, not everyone who gives birth has boobs, and some HAD a vagina but don’t anymore, but the typical people who try to force kids on you are cis people with typical genitals, so i want to talk about them. especially since i, while being trans and having dysphoria about my chest, have those parts myself. if there’s any part of the pregnancy experience i describe as negative that you see otherwise please don’t be mad, once again this is a post about how i feel.

it’s so bizarre to me that it’s so expected to want to. i know why it’s the norm, when you have such a big milestone in your life you expect it for other people, most people get paternal instincts, and having babies continues the species. but think about it. i won’t get into why you may or may not want to make a baby but there’s artificial insemination anyway so what does it matter. my point is i’m uncomfortable with being intimate, and don’t want someone else’s dna inside me, so that’s step one off the shelf so easily, and all anyone can say is ‘you’ll grow out of those feelings’ (which only makes someone angrier about the thought of pregnancy).

anyway now you have one in you. it’s growing. there is an organism inside of you. people talk about that as so pleasant, but it feels like an alien movie to me. i don’t think baby’s are actually technically parasites, but they function a lot like one in my opinion. they’re attached to you. they suck out your resources for themselves. no matter what you do there is a living thing inside of you and that is a horror i cannot begin to fathom being desirable. did you know lice live under your skin? to me having a baby within me sounds comparable to having a tapeworm. then there’s complications. if you have a miscarriage, you may have to carry a corpse within you to term. dead flesh inside of you. for months. things like that. you get hormones that make you obsessive, rearranging your “nest”, strange cravings. and you have to restrict your intake for the health of the baby. eat more vegetables so it gets vitamins, i don’t anyway but not drugs or alcohol because that could mess up the baby. no excessive activity for most because it could hurt the baby if you fall on your stomach or something, later in the pregnancy the baby bump may be so big some activities aren’t even an option anymore.

now you’re giving birth. ow. fucking ow. labor sucked and you soaked your pants with the water breaking. assuming you’re having a hospital pregnancy, you better pray you have someone you love in the room holding your hand. you better pray the pain medicine kicks in. no matter what, you feel a little body shoving through your hole, and some fuckin guy’s head is between your legs. they’re saying ‘push! push!’ but you barely know what that means! what if the baby comes out feet-first and gets choked by the umbilical cord? this thing you worked so hard to get could just die before you even hold it. assuming you WANT the baby, that’s a huge loss too, and you’ll probably have a whole room prepared that you’ll never be able to look at again without dying a bit, will you give up or try again? another 3/4 year dedicated to some creature you’ve never met and don’t know the fate of. you could also have a c-section, wow a tummy scar that’s fun. that pregnancy and birth could’ve killed you. if you’d had an abortion it could’ve killed you too.

you could also adopt.

so you have your baby. what’s the problem now? first off, potential health problems. what if your baby has a bad heart? what if it’s missing skin on its face or has some other deformity? you should love your child just the same and this doesn’t diminish their worth, but you were expecting a perfect one. a healthy one. maybe you knew about the complications before the birth, but now you have to look at them on your own baby.

your baby is home. you now have to spend a fortune feeding and clothing and teaching it. can you afford that? can you handle the responsibility? do you have others in your life willing to help? if you can’t handle this baby and give it away, will the hormones your body made to make you attached to this baby tear you apart? you’re still lactating, if you don’t empty your boobs that’s gonna swell and hurt and maybe even get infected. what if you keep the baby, but give it all the same traumas your parents gave you. what if you miss milestones? what if there’s another caretaker actively hurting your child but you don’t know how to stop them?

you’ll lose friends too. child—havers tend to stick together, and it’s not all, but there are people without kid who will leave you for having them. they think you’re boring now, or you just can’t relate to each other anymore. your life is your baby, and now you’re not your own person anymore. your child will struggle to see you as a full person too, since you’re their god. you can choose to prioritize yourself, but then aren’t you a bad parent?

your baby grows up. your baby is in school. they’re not your baby, they’re your kid. they’re getting bullied. what do you do? will the pain and shock of your little one being a victim make you scream at them? will you have any actually helpful advice?

your child is even older now. uh oh, they’re showing signs of neurodivergence. maybe even queerness. if you’re against these things, you’ll push back and make them hide themself from you and others, maybe even themself, hurting them in the long run. you don’t know how to deal with these things, you didn’t sign up for this, why couldn’t you just have a normal kid? even if you’re neurodivergent yourself the added responsibility of a child with “special” needs is no easy thing to manage.

your child gets older. they wrecked your car. shit. can you afford to fix that? what’s an appropriately-sized punishment?

they’re 18. they’re leaving you. empty nest. you threw away your life for theirs, what do you do now? the pieces from the trash have all climbed out and moved on, you can’t just pick them up again. you barely even have friends anymore. what the fuck do you do?

and then you have to face your own death twice as much. when i die, will my child have the abilities and resources to care for themself?

so just in case you were ever unsure how to defend not wanting kids, outside of a simple lack of desire, here this is. if you’re the forcing type, hopefully this changes how you go about things, or at least makes you a bit more understanding.

pregnancy can kill you physically, but the toll carrying and raising a child take on you mentally? what part of that is worth it if you don’t REALLY want a kid? and even then, if you assess yourself as an unfit parent (abuse/neglect/etc.), you shouldn’t go for it. it’d be an incredibly corrupt and horrible system, but i think about that baby license idea a lot.
