So back in March or so, I applied to be a part of the closed beta phase for Tumblr's new community feature rolling out, and my Cyberpunk 2077 virtual photography community was accepted!

(pls don't judge the banner, i had to throw together something really quick for the submission and admins can't update community settings yet 😭)

This is a public community, which means when the feature goes live to everyone, anyone can view it and join without a special invitation. For right now, though, I can only invite 25 people* to be members. I've already invited a few folks who I know love VP, and I'd like to open up 10-12 invitations to the broader community!

*I can request more spaces once I hit the limit, and I'll make an update when those become available.

Shortly after I posted this, our member count was increased to 500, so we have plenty of room for anyone interested!

EXPECTATIONS FOR MEMBERS

You do NOT need to be following me to join.

You do NOT need to be a ~*virtual photography expert*~ to join. Newb or veteran, PC or console, mods or vanilla--Doesn't matter! If you enjoy the artform, you're welcome here!

You DO need to be at least somewhat active on Tumblr. I'd like to invite folks who: - Post at least one new CP77 virtual photography image a week - Have daily reblogs of other CP77 posts (VP, gifs, art, meta, etc) Note: This will not be a permanent requirement as the community feature grows, but since space is limited, I want to ensure the first invitations go to the folks who will make the most of them.

You DO need to be willing to deal with beta phase hiccups and growing pains. This is a new beta feature on Tumblr--We have encountered, and will continue to encounter, Hellsite™️ nonsense, both in terms of technical issues and figuring out how to best use the space. (For example: a part of the reason I've put off sending out a bunch of invitations at once was because, until recently, it was getting people shadow-banned, lmao.)

You DO need to join with a main account--Sideblogs can't join yet. As I understand it, this is something Tumblr wants to change in the future, but right now, invitations can't be sent to sideblogs. You'll have to be comfortable posting and interacting under your main account to join.

HOW TO APPLY

Just send me an ask* telling me you're interested! I'll reply privately when the invitation has been sent. If all the slots are full, I can put folks on a waiting list for when I can get the member count increased.

*Mutuals can DM me, but I think my current settings prevent anyone whomst I don't follow from messaging me, so asks are the best way to go.

Can you explain what you mean by side blog? is it kind of like a finsta? It took me 5 years to figure out that ao3 had filters and I only just got Tumblr and I rly don't understand the terminology/tags/blogs thing yet😭

So the way tumblr works, and has worked for a long time, is when you sign up, that is your “main blog”. You can change the url, but that blog is your main. When you open other people’s ask boxes, to send something, if you don’t go anon it will show up with that blog handle.

You can create side blogs - many people do this, it’s actually fairly common and pretty easy. Some people do it for if they have blogs of certain fandoms (i.e if you want to have an acotar account and an account to discuss fine cheeses, you could have two separate blogs).

Whenever I follow people, it shows up as my main blog on their followers, and it likely doesn’t show the “mutuals” button whenever they get a notification that I interacted with them.

My main blog has been around for a long time (it’s actually like ~10 years old now) and I did previously connect it to personal accounts, so when I wanted to start engaging in the acotar fic world, I made a sideblog (also at this point I had started following many creators, and really didn’t feel like having to start over). So that means when I log onto tumblr, I can choose which blog to post/reblog things to as I go about my dash.

Sideblogs have all the same capabilities (messaging, ask boxes, etc.) however I cannot send asks to other users with this handle (daycourtofficial) and most users likely don’t know whether or not I’m following them without knowing my main blog.

But yes it is pretty similar to a finsta.

I'd say make the effort to converse with people and reach out first - get up in people's asks, support their creations with comments and reblogs, don't be afraid to slip into people's DMs and make conversation. You've gotta shoot your shot with people if you want to make friends. Also worth remembering that if a blog is fandom dedicated then it may be a sideblog and that person is your mutual, they've just followed you back on their main and you haven't realised.

When I first joined the HotD fandom, I slid into the asks of @em-writes-stuff-sometimes to simp for her writing and she's now my ride or die and I regularly sift through her garbage on collection day - if you don't try with people, you'll never know. Most people in fandom are friendly and if you make the effort they'll make the effort back.

I'm also part of the admin team in a Discord server for HotD fic writers - if you're interested in joining I can give you a link - it's a great way to make fandom friends!

Dividing content by blogs: I got a few main interests, and some minor interests. When is it a good idea to start a sideblog?

Adding a lot in a reblog: I ended up writing a long essay in my reblog. My contribution adds to the discussion but IDK if it's inconsiderate to post a whole essay to someone's post. Is that OK, or should I instead put it in a new post, put some context and tag the person?

Avoiding the flames: I'm often afraid of posting something for the fear of backlash - whether or not deserved. The options I know so far: a) Don't post it, b) Post it and accept whatever happens, c) Scroll down for 30 minutes in a dashboard or through tags to find out whether my take would be considered problematic or inflammatory. What's your take?

Attention: I heard it was OK to scroll down someone's blog but in one blog I seemed to have interacted with at least 30% of their posts, putting lots of comments along the way. Is that creepy or acceptable?

Anons: There's a few cool people I send a lot of anon asks to. Is it considered considerate or dumb if I eventually let them know that I've sent them a bunch of anons?

Followers, mutuals and the dashboard: I'm considering either visiting blogs individually or curating my dashboard. If I curate my dashboard and unfollow 200 people, that'll go against the "follow back" and "unfollow only if you dislike the person" viewpoints. Do people still have those mindset?

That's all up to you! Some people like to keep their blogs pristine and curated for certain things, others like to put all their stuff in one big pile of you (like me!) it all depends on how you want your blog to operate!

As long as it's relevant to the post it's absolutely okay to add a long addition, especially if you're teaching something! Most people love having some actual substance in their interactions so don't worry about that. But if you'd like to, you can add a "read more" divider so others don't have to scroll through your paragraphs if they don't want to :)

Absolutely fine! We love interaction no matter the age of the post! Make sure you check their bio or pinned posts first though, most people are alright with "like spamming" but some aren't. Unless they say otherwise somewhere interact to your hearts content!

That's the beauty of anon, it's up to you how much you want to be known. Try not to pester people though, let bloggers get to your asks on their own time! If you'd like for them to know all your asks are from one person but without revealing they're from you, you can add an anon signature! It's a simple nickname to give yourself in the ask box to show that you're the same person. This could be as simple as saying "hey! It's me, (blank)anon again!" or a popular way of doing it is assigning your self an emoji to sign off your asks with! Example: "hope you're day is good! -💥anon"

Once again this is a "your call" situation. Curate your experience to your comfort. I will say though I'm following over 800 people and my dash is just fine lol. Tumblr users don't usually believe in the "follow for follow" system so don't feel bad for unfollowing someone for whatever reason

ꕥ my designated new years post!

this is going to be really short and brief cause i ... am not a girl that has a lot to say lol but ! i joined caratblr in august and even though it hasn't been that long, i just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who's here for giving my writing a chance and staying with me! i know i'm not always active and i write even less but thank you for still sticking around despite that 🫂 i can't promise i'll write at a faster pace next year but i will promise that i'll always be here, even if i'm not posting a whole ton ♡♡

2. how would you describe your style?

I got this question a good while back but now I can answer it better!!

In terms of sim style I've noticed these habits when making my sims:

Downturned mouth corners, like they're frowning all the time;

Half closed eyes like they're glaring at me, or just tired as hecc, I think that's really cool and I wish I could close their eyes further >:( there's probably a slider for that, but oh well;

Trendy clothes and sometimes borderline alpha clothes;

Picking a color to be the sim's favorite color, or using the likes and dislikes randomizer, and using that color for 90% of the sims outfits. [insert color here] is their entire personality;

I think that's pretty much it for now? At least of the things I noticed I was actively doing.

8. who is your favorite gameplay blog?

Visually I think I preffer @natolesims and her sideblog @dustbon . Her main blog posts are a mix of gameplay and storytelling, as far as I understand, but her sideblog is fully gameplay and all of her sims and screenshots are so adorable!! I'm very inspired by her ;w; <3

9. who is your favorite storytelling blog?

Aaaaaa this one is a hard one ;-; I don't pay much attention to storytelling posts nowadays but the ones I've loved in the past have been these ones:

@simmersofia 's story with Don Lothario and Johnny Zest, and also from her, the globetrotter challenge story with Vlad and his husband George!

I cannot for the life of me find the simmer that did this one because they changed their url some time ago and I did not memorize it, but it was basically the story of the sims 2 Don and Cassandra Goth but played out in the sims 4. This simmer was my first contact with the simblr community and I will forever keep them in my heart, and my first ever story posts were highly inspired by their post formatting style, but I cannot for the life of me find them ;-; Alecia if you're out there give me a sign I can't find your blog 😭

There's more, there are so many more, I could list off 50% of the people I follow but every time I go looking for the simblrs and their stories to make sure I don't give out wrong information in this answer I completely forget everything else that I wanted to say so I'll list off these two for now ;-; I believe they were the first 2 gameplay blogs that really captured my attention when I started out as a baby simblr.
