Have you ever cut your own hair?

Yes, actually. Just the other weekend I decided to trim it by myself for the first time ever! I don't particularly like going to the hairdressers and do it really rarely, but now that my hair is short, it needs trimming more often. So I was like, fuck it, I'll just watch Youtube tutorials and do it myself. It worked well too, if I do say so myself.

What do you eat most frequently?

I guess chocolate. I don't know what proper food I eat the most often, but chocolate is a staple.

Yup, even if I don't have time to play now.

GOSH thank you so much for liking my old hq stuff enough to ask for more!! I’m not sure if I’ll get back to drawing bokuro soon, honestly? So I can’t promise that if I’ll go through with the suggestion it’ll be soon, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind for when the mood strikes!! Thank you!!!!!! I actually used to have that same problem with shadows? However much I kept track of where the lightsource was and the shapes I was working with it always looked wrong, somehow - the way I fixed it was by adding more shadows, actually. If you’ll pick any of my colored pieces you’ll see I don’t really put down lights all that often, which means the base color ends up being my light color too, and everything else is just shadows getting darker the further I go from where the light hits the object I’m shading - generally, I use a soft tool like a brush or a marker to very roughly put down where I want the shadows to go, and then using the same tool I smudge and darken it till it looks right to me. I can’t really explain it any better than this? But I have a small tutorial for how I do this in my art tips tag, if you wanna give it a look!

It’s a mixture of both, actually! I like to look at clothing, both irl (on people I see, or stuff in the shops I visit, or even pics and movies and tv shows!) and drawn too - in anime and illustrations and manga and cartoons! I look at them and try to remember how they’re made, and then when I draw I think about it all and come up with my own by mixing stuff I liked from all those things - unless I see a piece of clothing that’d work just right as it is on a character, in which case I just draw it either as best as I can from memory or, if I have it, using a ref! It’s one of the things I find the most fun when drawing, I’m glad to hear you like what I come up with!! Thank you so much!!!

People have always complimented my hair for being “pretty/long”. My familys taken care of it my whole life cause idk how to do it. Its embarrassing and I cant learn cause I dont have the right products. It’s white people stuff and my hair is like 4a/4b. A while back I saw a post saying that its more groundbreaking if black girls grew out their hair instead of cutting it like white girls in shows. And I kinda agree with that. I also know that it’s my body and I could do whatever I want with it. My family says I shouldnt cut it cause they associate my beauty with my hair sometimes. My friend says I just need to learn how to take care of it. I dont wanna cut it because my hair has been/is a big part of me. But I wanna cut it cause its so much work. I also wanna learn and get to know my hair all over again. If I were to cut it Id wanna go bald and let it grow. I wanna feel the wind on my head and wake up without a weight on me ig. Idk if any of this made sense, if it doesn’t I could clarify. But do you have any advice/ideas on what I should do? If anyone else does that’d be really good, I could use some help.

Okay, I just wanna say this is YOUR choice. At the end of the day, you’re going to have to live with it, okay? Okay.

I’d definitely take a moment and really think about what you want to do. For me, I have a lot of hair as well and it’s sooooooo much to manage that I’ve thought about cutting it a few times. But I’ve always thought about how I’d feel in the end. Which is why it’s really important to know and understand yourself as a person. No one knows you better than yourself.

My advice for you is if you plan to keep your hair, definitely learn how to take care of it. There’s a few things that I use as someone with 4b hair. I use black castor oil to keep my scalp clean, there’s a specific shampoo and conditioner that I use because I have psoriasis so it helps keep mine clean as well. For just regular washing, I would definitely recommend Pantene. Some people may disagree but there’s a specific formula that’s really lightweight but it still cleans thoroughly. Also, with that I wanna say PLEASE USE CONDITIONER. It makes detangling so much easier, I promise you. I’d recommend finding cream that work well for you, I personally don’t use them because it makes my hair really heavy, I haven’t found anything that I like but you could be different so when I publish if anyone who has found cream that works for 4 type hair please feel free to share!

Side note: Everynow and then, do a hot oil treatment! There are looooooads of tutorials on YT.

When detangling I personally recommend using a wide tooth comb or a wide paddle brush. Start at the end of the hair and work your way up to the root. It hurts way less and it’s a little easier. Before you do that tho, part your hair into about six even sections, just so it won’t be so overwhelming. Then braid those sections after detangling to prevent matting. Now, an even better way to manage your natural, PROTECTIVE HAIR STYLESSSSS! Sew ins, wigs, braids, twists, faux locks, etc.

Find a BLACK hairstylist who specializes in these things, if you’re in Atlanta I recommend the Braid Bar in Jonesboro, they have great prices and do some awesome work. The best way to find someone who braids is just ask some of your black friends/family. Somebody’s cousin always does hair, I promise. If you can’t find anyone or you don’t have many black friends, Google and Instagram are gonna be your best friend. Most salons have photos on their IG pages and many stylists ask that you book through a number or DM, either way do some research honey. I’d honestly just recommend searching under the hashtag #boxbraids(Your city name).

If you really want to cut your hair though, find a hairstylist that specializes in natural hair. Specifically Type 4 hair. Again, word of mouth, Instagram, and Google are gonna be your best friends. I’m telling you to find someone who works with natural hair because they are best equipped to cut, treat, and style your hair the best. They will take extra care in making sure your hair is cared for. Plus a good scrub of the scalp is heaveennnnnn!

Ultimately, it’s up to you. I want to say though, regardless, it is your hair. Do not make your decision based on what your family or friends will say. Make your decision based on what you want, honey! Either way, you are beautiful! You are loved! And I promise you are not the first or the last black woman to love their natural hair but despise it at the same time! 💕

the riley hair doesn’t have a clip so I am going to assume you mean the Peyton hair since it was released in the same month. It wouldn’t really be possible to do Peyton without the clip since it has a part of the hair going up into the clip. Without it there would be a hole and if the hole was filled in it would still look weird since the hair would be going up into nothing. I’m sorry <3

Ok so my GOAL is to always have a very recognizable face. Like. I guess i cant hold myself to photorealism standards because hahahhah id die! But like, i want the face to be looked at and go ah yes! And like yeah i could hone that, yknow? Work on face studies and mini portraits of all my favourite actors and scenes and shit. Cool right?? Yeahh that could be sickaroni macaroni. People like faces they can recognize and good refined work. I can do that

Id love love love to make like. Scenic paintings. Concept art level atmosphere and color and light and presence and as tory telling yknow?? Id like to substitute the literally colorless fog inside my head into vivid scenes. Id like to try and take the fics that in my head are set in ??? Space with some movement here and there and just idk emotions? Into fleshed out SCENES with backdrops and accurate anatomy and WEIGHT and like, everything incredible that i admire in true art.

But thats hard, yknow? I havent really ever done backgrounds and what i have have been so flat. I dont KNOW how to do that (here i would be willing to have a teacher i think but. Im tired. I cant even seek out a short term therapist for myself how am i gonna find the kind of teacher i want?? Because of course i want them to teach me how to achieve whata inside my dreams and not what they know how to do ykno)

Yeah so i want to try and paint screencaps in the meantime. See if i cant struggle my way to fit this putty of skill into a square box. Like i think i can paint. Digitally? Somewhat idk?? Maybe if i just. Keep trying itll work out?? Start with simpler ones and build up to complexity??

But also. If im juat trying to get myself to love art again, why am i trying to throw myself in the deep end of struggling with something im not good at?? Shouldnt i be just refining what i already know? Like. A character! Standing. Maybe in a cooler pose if going crazy. Refining basic anatomy. How does fabric work? How does hair work? Can i make expressions seem realistic?

Next step, could i make a picture of someone without direct reference?? Like. Could i draw maybe a wee dinluke holding eachother or whatever and like. Just. Do it?? Without doing a version of photoshopping two pics of the actors through art together. Idk.

His personal skill is Collector, which is super neat because hey! free stuff! :D He also has Seal Magic which could be good with his terrible less than stellar Resistance, and Good Fortune, which restores up to 20% HP EACH TURN, well.... based on his luck stat, which is..... pretty bad lmao- maybe he has a really good Luck stat growth idk (I peeked at the output file after having played the chapter and his stat growths are HP = 15, Str = 30, Mag = 35, Skill = 50, Spd = 25, Lck = 50, Def = 20, Res = 40, so yeah, pretty decent barring HP and Def haha;;;) But LOOK AT THAT STRENGTH HE’S A BEAST AND A C RANK IN SPEARS THAT’S FANTASTIC UGH- Kaze........ my man, I can’t wait to see what you can Heart Seal into it could probably be really cool, or..... pretty bad, idk anything could happen with this randomiser

I just realised how ironic his randomised class was; he went from a light, speed based Hoshidan class to a bulky, defence based Nohrian class ahahah;;;
