One thing people really miss about wolfstar is how similar they actually are, how much they understand each other. Yeah they’re very different in some aspects, opposites traits for real, but they’re not polar opposites???? And that’s probably because there’s this constant “need” to fit them in a daddy/bbg dinamic (or variation of it) (and alternating who’s the daddy and who’s the babygirl) because it has an appeal I guess, but it’s just not them???? You strip the character of key (deep) traits in order to put them in a mold

I have always wondered why Yoongi constantly bickers with Jimin? It always seemed strange- even when Yoongi was following the "cool asshole" character Bighit prescribed him, he still was pretty gentle and caring with other members- and even more so now, but he kept fighting with Jimin.... now that i read some of your posts about the group and Jimin in particular (all what is not available to non-korean armys), i get why Yoongi does it. It's not flirting, it's Yoongi low-key dragging Jimin...
Yoongi knows how to push people’s buttons. He’s very much introspective in that way, and he knows how far to take things. ARMYs like to paint yoonmin bickering as an old married couple, when 9/10 it’s Yoongi calling Jimin out on his bs and Jimin retaliating. If you’ve noticed, Yoongi always lets Jimin get “the last word” and I’d say it’s because his whole point of bringing up Jimin’s shortcomings isn’t to “put him in his place” but rather to let him know “yea dude I see right through you, you might be fooling everyone else but you’re not fooling me.”
So yes anon, you’re right, I wouldn’t consider them bickering to be a sign of sexual tension. If you observe Yoongi’s relationship dynamic with Seokjin/Hoseok and Taehyung/Jungkook it’s a world of a difference. Around Seokjin, Yoongi gets all cute and snaps into younger brother mode. They both have a lot of respect for each other and it’s why they were able to have such an intimate convo during In The Soop as well. Around Hoseok, is when I’d consider Yoongi gets the most flirty. I’m not shipping them, but if anyone is the married couple in the group, it’s them. I think it has to do with both their personalities being polar opposites on and off camera. On camera Hoseok is the hyped extroverted one and the Yoongi the quite introvert, meanwhile off camera Hoseok becomes calm and prefers to listen more than he speaks, whereas Yoongi becomes hyped and as talkative as can be. As for Taehyung, he’s the person Yoongi would let get away with anything. I think he has the softest spot for Tae and they share similar perspectives when it comes to life (it’s prob why Tae chose Yoongi’s verse over Namjoon’s in Blue & Grey). I also think Yoongi is the person Taheyung often turns to for advice hence why he feels comfortable being so touchy with him. The same goes for Jungkook just not to that extent because I think JK is a lot more closed-off than Taehyung. Yoongi’s soft spot for JK stems from the fact he feels like he practically raised him. It’s not like JK doesn’t make mistakes, he makes a ton and he has his bratty tendencies. However, anyone would be less inclined to criticize their “child”. So in Yoongi’s eyes, JK can “do no wrong”. Finally for Namjoon I think their relationship is purely professional. I highly doubt they do anything personal together outside of music. The only time Yoongi speaks on Namjoon is to applaud his leadership skills, and in turn Namjoon applauds Yoongi’s production skills. It’s tit for tat professional positivity (hence them being the only two members in the group to have collabed with each other more than once: ‘Respect’ and ‘Strange’).
Side note: I also think Seokjin, Hoseok, and Taehyung “baby” Yoongi a lot (not in the infantilization way, don’t put words in my mouth weirdos). But in the “you don’t have to be so guarded when you’re around me, i won’t judge you” type of way. Out of BTS I’d say these four are the least judgmental concerning “genuine human behaviors” hence why Yoongi has taken such a strong liking to them as friends. (hopefully that makes sense because it makes perfect sense in my head).
As for Jimin, I think the two of them were closer in the past but as time goes on they’ve drifted. They could’ve drifted apart for several reasons. Jimin has a lot of insecurities and he expects the other members to shoulder those burdens for him.
Musically, Yoongi likes the tone of Jimin’s voice. If you look at his collabs, you’ll notice Yoongi likes working with artists whose vocal range are within a higher register (IU, Suran, Halsey, Max). Hence their Tony Montana collab stage but they’ve never done anything together musically since then. I don’t think Yoongi and Jimin have a lot in common to begin with. Unlike the other members, I’d say Jimin is the least interested in the “making of music.” Which is a the polar opposite of Yoongi. Jimin also tends to overextend himself for performances, another thing Yoongi probably couldn’t relate to. They also have contrasting personalities, and not in a good way. While Jimin craves the spotlight and attention, Yoongi is content with withdrawing from it. Don’t get me wrong, Yoongi adores his trophies and doesn’t shy away from stacking up new achievements. He prefers to be applauded for his work and impact as opposed to fanservice and vain influence.
It’s also important to note yoonmin tend to always have these bickering moments when the camera is rolling for a “show”, specifically Run BTS. When it’s them behind the scenes or them doing vlives you’ll notice yoongi keeps to himself 9/10. It reminds me of how during the first season of In the Soop, Jimin suggested him and Yoongi should share the same room, but Yoongi quickly shut down that idea by saying he likes to work late and wouldn’t want to disturb anyone. Basically it was yoongi’s way of saying “no dude I don’t want to share a room with you” in the nicest way possible.
In the last BTS merch release with the viewfinders(?), the members each had to describe one another. And Jimin’s description for Yoongi was: “He acts like he doesn’t know/see, but he knows/sees everything.”
The other members let jimin get away with a lot of shit by either laughing it off or changing the subject. Yoongi on the other hand could care less. He’s a straightforward sharpshooter. He doesn’t talk just to talk and is a keen observer. When Yoongi speaks unabashedly, just know he’s put plenty of thought behind his words and he means exactly what he says.
