MISSING MEDKIT
on sunday, 20th Oct 1:05am AEDT, i was on Phighting! as a ban hammer, talking with a medkit. we were having a lot of fun chatting and rping, and about to exchange ao3 users so i could read a fic the medkit was planning on working on based on our interactions. it would be ab medkit and ban hammer having the same wacky ass dream, and it was going well until my internet died for a minute and i disconnected. i rejoined that same server as soon as i could, but they had already left, with the last chat i saw from them being: "aww"
If you, or someone else knows someone who plays Phighting and has had a similar experience recently, please dm me! if not, reblog to help it spread and hopefully reach that medkit. roblox user is Floofball, or contact me through tumblr dms.
Dear Medkit, if you see this im sorry i left so suddenly, and i probably should have given you a friend request sooner, hope you can still send me that fic when you're done :)

Topic: Genshin impact.
au: Sagau.
idea: So what if you had the powers of every character you played as in every game you played and then get isekaid into genshin impact with imposter au. I imagine it goes smth like
Zhongli: “I will have order!”
reader, Who played Roblox as someone who lagged the game (explanation: I’m pretty sure ping is also how time works in games. If you can control the flow of ping you can control the flow of time in games.): “ZA WARUDO!”
Heyyy!! Thanks for waiting for the reply/response from my slow ass :0
So they did clarify what they meant/expand so imma just copy paste that here!
“k now I remember. So basically imma write it here since it’s easier: Basically you don’t have to (but you can) transform into the character that has those set of powers but if you do those powers are enhanced.”
Sun: Reader (”you”/they/them)
Orbit: Headcanons-ish, Light Imposter AU (as in, NOT Yandere/Dark), mild crossover elements bc Shapeshifter Shenanigans™️
Stars: bro idek
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: mild cussing, genshin typical mild violence, & Trigger Warnings: none known.
Please comment if I missed any. /gen

so fair warning,, ive never seen jojo bizarre, but i appreciate i come off well-read/watched? LMAO
so im just gonna kinda,, guess? like just cycle thru diff. random media, and im hoping both me and you reading this will have a fun time (as this is a little challenge, but i like it so ill give it a shot, dont kno if its a good one but- 😅)
so to set the scene, of how u got to this point, ykno of running like ur life (maybe?) depends on u running around different teyvat countries,
u thought it was weird everyone knew a little too much about you?? (ofc theyve heard u during gaming, they know u the same way we all know Markiplier, get it?)
then a bunch of NPCs/Vision users/Archons?? were REALLY invested in talking to you, which freaked u out even more
and by the time you saw Zhongli, yknow, just the oldest god in game, making a fast-walk towards you, ykno the retired god who didnt move an inch when an old water god attacked Liyue for a test, is now hurrying to you???
ur logically get so fucking scared sm shits abt to go down, u just start running
it isnt until ur reaching for a ledge and some webbing shoots out of ur arm (from a glitchy little spot on ur arm, where it could be coming out of ur skin, but sometimes its a blue and red bracelet)
it latched onto the nearest building, and thats how u find out u can grapple ur way, literally Spiderman style, out of the harbor
and bro, idk if it would be fun, or confusing and stressful, or maybe both?? to just find out u can use any video game power from any game youve played before as you go running from countries bc for some freaky reason they know too much abt you/are pursuing you-
dUDE- they had small statues of you in like every little section of their cities
u head to Mondstadt and as Venti comes screaming and flying at you (in excitement, but ur freaked), u go to hold a hand up and suddenly ur holding a heavy stone tablet that unleashes some holographic yellow chains that freeze him in place-?? why is this familiar-
oh my god u have the sheikah slate from Breath of the Wild,
and as ur booking it out of there, u manage to get ahold of a sword, and u know exactly how to use it to knock back favonius knights trying to stop you (they are concerned for their god who is just unleashing random powers on ppl, pls let Grandmaster Jean just talk to you Your Majesty-!!)
by the time you teleport ur way to Inazuma, (bc u still have this worlds access to ur player/traveler’s powers), ur trying to find a nice place to stay for a little bit
at least in that sweet spot of the Raiden not noticing/finding you, while things cool down on the main continent, before moving on,
and u get some tools to help fashion just a little shelter, bc u dont have any money/mora rn, and ur able to literally build a house???
a mailbox pops up and thanks you for renting with Tom Nook???? As in Animal Crossing-
and rlly if the BOTW/slate thing didnt clue u into video game powers, then this definitely would tbh lmao
right as u see Yae Miko circling ur house, with an armful of books? ..is she planning to thru them at you??, u get the hell out of dodge before her favorite god can follow along
(she knows ur prefrences in books and got authors/trends to start so youd have plenty to read, and she was making sure it was ur house before politely dropping them off! how was she to know thatd spook their favorite God, Ei?!)
u get to Sumeru and think ur safe, hiding in an abandoned forest watcher outpost (1 person treehouse rlly) when Nahida shows up in ur dreams,
and u just,
walk out of the dream, into reality, and possess a nearby ruin guard so u can sleep in peace, bc she cant access a robot,
that one baffled u as you re-possessed ur own body before realizing-
Five Nights at Freddy’s. 💀
U cant do that forever, so u try Fontaine, hoping Neuvillette/Furina wont rlly give af abt you, plus theyre the latest region, so maybe they have the least exposure to whatever the other archons didnt like abt you??
u get there and are immediately summoned to court, and right as the mekas show up to escort you, jfc they have a mecha army
(meanwhile, theyre thinking, yknow. high profile guest/our god of gods. ofc we need state of the art mekas to escort them, its only polite-)
meanwhile ur cape has now become wings, and a mask covers ur face as you glide and fly ur way over the city in an attempt to get to where u assume Snezhnaya is
it doesnt occur to you the game until ur running out of stamnia and catch ur reflection in the waters of fontaine, Sky: Children of the Light
u hope the Tsaritsa’s dislike for other gods/Celestia doesnt extend to ur otherworldly presence so ur just hoping for the best atp tbh
tbh youd forget what all powers you have, and the absolute chaos ur causing urself as u try to desperately rememeber what games youve played thru ur entire life is NOT helping to reduce confusion when u randomly wake up with elf ears (legend of zelda/botw) or get dragged into another ruin machine when u fall asleep/faint/do smth u guess mimics death lmao- (fnaf) 💀
…
(meanwhile the Tsaritsa does get wind ur coming this way, and just, makes the people have a parade/festival to celebrate you coming,
she did also have to get Pierro/Captaino to physically restrain some of them from going ahead to meet/escort you to the palace, she’d heard how the others scared u off, and was, ironically, hoping the warm welcome would clear things up)
☆
well that was, something. 😃🫠
sorry lil car, that was such a fun idea idk if i did it justice!! i thought itd be too op to include every media youve consumed ever, so i kept it to video games, (which, could u cheat the system if youve played smash bros??)
i hope it was at least a decent read, and sorry im half asleep so i was not v funny this time around, but, again, hope u got smth out of it 😭
</3
on another note, im having my wisdom teeth surgery this friday, send whatever u got my way, prayers, blessings, good vibes, ill take anything im nervous 🙃
have a good week guys!
Safe Travels Lil Car,

oh hello there
i found a challenge last year and it popped up on my phone AND IT CURED MY ART BLOCK AT LEAST MOMENTARILY!!💜
I DREW! For the first time in like 3 months :]
WITH NO REFERENCE OR ANYTHING OML
(1 . 🐸🔮😦)
this prompt was hard cus i had many ideas. won’t be doing these every day, i’m just gonna take it one step at a time. Dunno if ill even di them all. It’s also 3AM and I haven’t drawn freely in 3 months so.. it’s bad. At least, the hand is. I’ve been playing SPEED DRAW on roblox (my user is @frienchefries!) and i got used to drawing a certain way😓
by the way the person is no one in particular, not an oc or anything- i just randomly made them😭🙏
i reaaaaally want to post something on yt but i’m not really ready yet. ive never had art block this long before so i need to take baby steps back into my routine. I’ve been feeling off, because i was missing art in my life. I’m in both choir and theater so it helps. Glad to be back (even if partially) :)

Small Important Update :
Hello there! It's Ethanvanii here, posting a small update cause I've been inactive on Tumblr lately, and I wanted to clean stuff up.
I will be on a break now, I won't be online so much and I'll be working on homework, and other art projects/series.
Where i have been in life 📣
So far, i have been behind on homework, so much that the homework line on my computer is RED. And not completed, behind even. But yeah, aside from that.. Life has been a bit boring and honestly sad. I've been worried for my online son, Ryker since they have been going through a lot of mood swings, terrible shit happening to them and all. I hope they'll try to stay safe and healthy while I'm gone for a bit.
About Sickpants Lullaby ☎
As you can see, Sickpants Lullaby has been on hiatus for like... I dunno... SINCE LIKE OCTOBER... But the question is, WHY was it on hiatus?
Homework aside, the reason why i haven't worked on it was because of my motivation dying down for the series, without Cobalt/Natt here... I feel very unmotivated to work on it at the moment, he is my beautiful and silly online son, he is like a whole ray of sunshine even. It was fun to hang out with him, before he left to China... I'm honestly lucky to have him in my horrible ass life. Not having him here can be really lonely honestly, even he had that problem while working on Parodies College House (A Spongebob Parodies Fangame he made) To the point he had to put it on hiatus till Benjamin and Juan were back. (Since they are needed, cause they're voice actors in that. And also cause of the fact Cobalt misses them.)
HOWEVER....
Not to worry, cause Sickpants Lullaby will continue once he comes back! Hopefully, if I don't get art block...
ALSO...
Please do NOT slide into my DMS just to ask me when I'm gonna work on Sickpants Lullaby, or if im working on a drawing of your character. It just makes it annoying and makes me not wanna complete it anymore, I hope you understand that.
Another mention though, I have a second reason for having no motivation for working on Sickpants Lullaby as i used to.
The second reason why Sickpants Lullaby is on Hiatus ☎
The SECOND reason why the series is on hiatus, is just because I've been working on another series which is called "Ethan's Void Life (EVL for short)" more. I've lost some interest in working on Sickpants Lullaby now that Cobalt/Natt is gone, it just doesn't feel the same anymore without him... I don't feel the same joy i get while drawing Sickpants Lullaby frames for my audience as i used to.........
....But besides that, look at the bright side. At least i get a break from the Internet for a bit..? Yes, I'll be checking my Tumblr Inbox in a while, just in case to answer questions.
Anyways, time for more fun stuff.
NEW INTERESTS!! YIPPEEE- 📣
So far, I've gotten around.... Well I don't know, 3 INTERESTS?? MAYBE EVEN 5???
But yeah, I'll try my best to remember most despite my poor memory.
1. PHIGHTING! (Roblox Game)
2. Item Asylum (Also Roblox Game)
3. Guts & Blackpowder. Again, another roblox game. But this time Cobalt got me into it in the first place. I don't regret playing it.
4. Regretevator.... HOLSLSYY FUCKKKK I LOVE THIS GAME 😭😭 IT'S THE WHOLE REASON WHY MY TUMBLR USER IS NAMED AFTER PARTYNOOB NOW 💔💔💔
Stimming aside, it's a pretty cool and fun game. I liked the voice acting, fun stages, and the characters are pretty creative to be honest!
5. Dayshift At Freddy's. Despite the... Ahem... Problematic parts due to it being made in like 2018.... It's a really goofy and silly game! I honestly love it despite me still trying to get all the way to DSAF 3... DSAF 1 was a pain in the ass to play, hopefully I'll skip it and just see if DSAF 2 is easier. (Because my dumbass can't press the springlocks fast enough in the first game lmao, but don't worry i still love the game anyways)
6. Dialtown. Made by the same creator of DSAF. I really enjoyed Dialtown honestly, the dialogue, the story, and the characters! They even added some phone guy characters from DSAF into it. Maybe as a Easter egg? I don't know. Either way Dialtown was still fun. Not to mention the creator is really nice, bless their heart. :)
Interests i MIGHT stream 📣
1. PHIGHTING
NO. As much as i love it, i am ass at playing on computer, I'll most likely make a video of me playing it on phone instead of streaming.
2. Item Asylum
Possible? I haven't tested it on computer for lag, so it's a maybe for now....
3. Guts & Blackpowd-
NO. I've tested it on my laptop before, believe me. It's laggy for my small ass laptop. I'll be posting videos of me playing it on mobile instead, thank you very much... It may be less laggy on your laptop, but mine? Nah.
4. Regretevator
Yes. It's still fun either way if i die to lag, one death isn't gonna hurt my soul. ^_^
5. Dayshift at Freddy's
Maybe?? It's if I DON'T GET SPRINGLOCKED A BUNCH OF TIMES DUE TO FAILING... but yeah, it is possible, I'll be streaming myself watching DSAF 1 gameplay on youtube, and then the next streams will be me playing DSAF 2 and DSAF 3 (that's IF they don't springlock me again... It sucks tbh but it's still a loveable game)
6. Dialtown
Yes! Though I'll have to add some warnings before people watch it, since i don't want my viewers getting uncomfortable due to the themes in it.
Thats all for now, I hope the news up there was useful.
No, not the interests, the Sickpants Lullaby part.
Anyways, bye for real! :3

new camping fanfic posted by me!!!

FIRST!! WARNINGS!: Suicide, gun violence, major character death, murder!! you have been warned!!
—————————
3:04 AM. The lamp illuminated the desk Daniel sat at, everything else in his bedroom looked like a void. The only noise that accompanied Daniel was the heavy exhales from his nose. The insomniac firmly held a sheet of paper in his hand, reading every word repeatedly without a break. The letter was from Jack Logan (his dear father) who took his own life shortly after the death of Emma Logan, Daniel’s beloved sister. Any reader could tell by the writing that it was neatly and carefully made. It was only for Daniel to admire how his father put this written message together in his final moments. Most of the epistle talked about how he did this to see Emma again and how Daniel was a joy to raise. However, the end of the letter had an important mission. Jack Logan wanted revenge on Jeff Terzi. Thanks to Jeff’s reckless driving, Emma could only be seen as a framed picture with bouquets surrounding it. Despite being against the idea at first, Daniel promised to himself that he will fulfill his father’s wish. That night he plotted many ways he could get back at Jeff. Deciding to save those ideas for later, Daniel gently put the letter in his drawer and turned off the lamp. The drowsy man stumbled back to his bed and hoped for uninterrupted rest.
8:13 AM. With a slam, The alarm clock got silenced by Daniel’s hand. Daniel groaned as he opened his bleary eyes and lumbered to the bathroom. Hunched over and gripping the edge of the sink bowl, Daniel stared deeply into his reflection. He tried to practice making fake yet convincing cheerful expressions for his shift. As Daniel stared into his mirror, he found a part of his soul was missing. When his family was undeservingly taken away from Daniel, he struggled to grasp the meaning of life. Is this the universe’s way of testing him? Daniel could only ponder what he did to warrant this. Finally, he heard what he thought to be an answer. A familiar voice spoke, it slightly resembled Jack Logan. Daniel whipped his head around to find the source of the sound. But to Daniel’s surprise, there was only himself. The voice was encouraging him to check his father’s wardrobe. Although Daniel’s initial reaction was to feel dubious, the voice was persistent and invigorated him. With a sigh, Daniel reluctantly walked over to his dad’s bedroom. It’s been several years since he has been inside his father’s bedroom. How could there be something new to that room? Daniel asked himself as he entered.
The wardrobe door opened with an eerie creek. Daniel pushed aside Jack’s varied trench coats and collared shirts cautiously, trying to find something that might bring him closer to the answers for his train of thought. Eventually with impatience, He resorted to sliding his hand across every crevice inside the clothing cupboard. When Daniel was about to question why his gut feeling brought him here, he almost froze once he felt the cold exterior of an outer barrel. Bringing it out of the shadows of the closet, Daniel obtained an AK-47. Daniel inspected the rifle in its entirety. The steel billet was cool to the touch, it definitely wasn’t new but it was clearly used with care and the gun was already loaded. For Daniel it almost felt like he was touching a cursed artifact, especially since it belonged to his father. The voice commanded Daniel to bring the gun to Specky woods. Daniel’s only option was to oblige, the instinct couldn’t be ignored and would trouble him if he tried. Besides, park rangers do need guns, anything could be lurking. That’s at least what Daniel told himself for reassurance.
10:17 AM. Daniel was assigned to set up bear traps all over the field. To say Daniel was looking forward to it would be a blatant lie. He was forced to do this tedious task over and over to the point Daniel wondered if the bear population would be lower than the deer’s in Specky Woods. Luckily, park ranger Daniel wouldn’t have to suffer in boredom alone as he had his coworker Steve for assistance. When the both of them were placing down bear traps in the area, Daniel looked up and suddenly stopped any movement as if he had turned into stone. Of course it wasn’t rare to see a family camping in the middle of the woods, quite the contrary, but did it have to be that family? Jeff Terzi, his wife, and his three kids. Seeing Jeff bonding with his children and playing in the grass made Daniel wistfully think back to the times him, his father and Emma would go on exciting adventures with each other. Watching Jeff go on with his life, free of consequences, filled Daniel with pent-up rage. If nobody was there, Daniel would’ve acted on the urge to strangle Jeff. Daniel could only let out an aggravated exhale through his mouth. Steve gives his coworker a glance out of concern, but quickly assumes that Daniel was just tired. Understandably, nobody’s ideal morning is to set up bear claws. To Daniel’s dismay, Jeff started to approach the park rangers. Daniel kept his head low and his eyes on the leg hold traps, praying that Steve would do the talking instead.
“Hello! I was wondering… What’s with the bear traps?” Jeff spoke to the park rangers.
“It’s to stop bears from killing the deers. The decreasing deer population here is concerning us,” Steve responded as if it was an obvious answer; he still attempted to keep formality and respect in his tone.
“Oh, thanks. Who would’ve guessed? silly me!” Jeff chuckled despite Steve’s face not showing an ounce of amusement. “I’ll leave you two alone, have a good day,” Jeff waved goodbye, walking back to the tents. Steve waved back at the father. Daniel put his head up to glare at Jeff with unblinking eyes, which daunted him. Jeff wasn’t the only one unnerved by Daniel’s stare, Steve looked at Daniel with a confounded expression.
“What’s the matter with you?” Steve whispered.
“I… There was a leaf in his hair, I was deciding whether or not to let him know,” Daniel lied, he tried to sound believable but his voice sounded robotic.
“I don't think staring at him was helpful,” Steve replied bluntly. Daniel continued with his task, looking away from his colleague out of embarrassment and shame. “Daniel, be honest with me, are you okay?” Steve questioned.
“Why are you asking?” Daniel’s uneasiness was visible in his voice. From Daniel’s response hardly being related to the question, Steve took it as a no.
Steve sighed sympathetically, “We’re friends, you can tell me if you have problems going on.”
“I’m fine.” Daniel’s somewhat trembling hands contradicted his words. Steve gave Daniel one more skeptical glance.
“Well I can’t force you to open up,” Steve resumed back to his job. For the rest of the shift, the atmosphere between the park rangers was awkwardly silent.
11:14 PM. A cluster of raindrops fell all over the campsite of Specky Woods. Thankfully, Daniel was hiding inside the wooden shed, watching through the window. The rain aggressively tapped against the glass pane of the outhouse. The sky was pitch black and the foggy mist made the place scarcely seeable. Even though Daniel only had to work his day shift, he lingered in the woods, watching Jeff’s every movement while in hiding. Usually Daniel would be at home resting, but he was at the mercy of what he assumed to be his father’s voice, controlling most of every action. The plan should work out perfectly. Tents are not suitable for harsh rainfall, that would mean the family of five would have to use the cave as shelter. Sadly, the family made the grave, foolish mistake of leaving their picnic basket at the campsite. Speaking from observation, the mother didn’t seem like an assertive woman. Daniel hoped the parents weren’t psychotic enough to send one of their young children to fetch the basket in this weather. Using the process of elimination, Jeff would most likely be the one to get sent to retrieve their food. Jeff was the one to walk up to Daniel and Steve while his family stayed together in the campsite, which made Daniel believe his theory was strong. Daniel put his head against the window, trying to hear for any footsteps or noise that could be from the father. Because of the obstreperous rainfall, the park ranger tried not to be too optimistic. However, with the faint sound of a closing bear trap and a man screaming, it was as if someone answered Daniel’s prayers. Hurriedly, Daniel placed the rifle and its sling over his shoulder and stole a spare flashlight to aid his vision through the fog.
The rain poured down in torrents, each drop striking Daniel in the head and his back. The armed man sniffled as he tried to find his target. It was both a curse and a blessing that whoever is above the sky decided to cast down this weather. It didn’t take too long before Daniel found himself standing in front of Jeff, pointing the flashlight at his face. Jeff looked as if he just crawled out of the trenches. He was covered in dirt and mud from falling face first on the ground; The bear trap buried its spikes into Jeff’s shin. The injured man looked up at Daniel with hope sparkling in his eyes, like he had found his savior.
“Daniel! Thank God you’re here!” Jeff cried out in relief, his tears camouflaged with the rainfall. “Can you please help—“
Daniel tossed aside the flashlight and, with swift motion, held the AK-47 to the father’s head, pressing the muzzle against his forehead. Jeff’s pupils shrunk. “Daniel? It’s me… I’m not a bear!” Jeff let out a shaky laugh, wishing that this was a massive misunderstanding.
“Shut your mouth. Don’t make this harder than this needs to be,” Daniel whispered harshly through his gritted teeth. Daniel tried his best to not to look at Jeff. This man has a family, just like Daniel used to. Does this make him any better? Daniel started to have regrets of threatening this man but he had to remember that he lost everything due to him. His sister, his father, they were no longer there but Jeff still remained. It may not make him better, but it wouldn’t make him worse, would it? Many thoughts raced Daniel’s mind as he hesitantly wrapped his finger around the trigger.
“Daniel!” The trembling man shouted, “You’re being ridiculous! Can’t we just talk like rational adults?”
Jeff reached out and grabbed the gun by the barrel in an attempt to move it out of his face. As if his hands had a mind of their own, Daniel flinched and pulled the trigger. The bullet mushroom made Jeff’s blood and brains splatter all over the muddy grass. The scarlet drops stained Daniel’s uniform. The rifle fell out of Daniel’s grip; he stared down at the father’s disfigured head. His face, if it even could be recognised as one, resembled a decaying orchid flower. The unpitying reality didn’t wait patiently to settle in. Daniel looked at the palms of his hands, then the corpse, and back at himself.
This is what Jack Logan wanted. You did what you had to do. How many times could Daniel tell himself that before he could finally be at peace? Standing in the rain for a certain period of time can get you sick, taking a shower is highly advised. Daniel was scrubbing himself clean, cleaning his body and mind. But how does one clean his mind after witnessing his own murder? No matter how much soap he used, Daniel was filthy and impure. He couldn’t even call himself a man, a title like ‘murderer’ and ‘monster’ would suit him better. there were no crimson markings on Daniel’s body yet the blood on his hands stuck with him permanently. Daniel raised the temperature of the shower, making it as boiling as possible. He aggressively continued to cleanse himself, but he felt that there was no progress. The shower only reminded of where he was standing in Specky Woods. Standing in front of the bleeding body of Jeff Terzi. The scorching water burnt Daniel's skin, but he knows hell has a punishment unimaginably worse prepared for him.
4:03 AM. Daniel put on clean clothes and expected himself to drift off to sleep. Instead, Daniel was sitting at the edge of his bed as he buried his tearful face into his hands. All Daniel ever wanted to do was to make his father happy, even going as far as following his every command, never questioning the morality or ethics of it. Daniel wanted to believe that he gave Jeff what he deserved. Although, he couldn’t help but imagine how it would affect his family like how Jack and Emma’s death affected himself. Tears streamed down Daniel’s face. It may not be true, but Daniel wanted to be reassured that he was not a horrible being. Suddenly, cold air brushed against Daniel’s shoulder.
“You did the right thing,” A familiar, raspy voice spoke.

so many royale high players (at least on twitter) have this weird belief that barbie has a super special button on her computer where she can easily and instantly publish whatever feature the fanbase wants. I keep seeing people say “well I don’t know anything about scripting/3D modeling/user interface/game design/managing a team of developers/roblox studio but like this can’t be that hard to add to the game so why hasn’t the team done it yet??? :/“ and I’m not trying to make excuses about the team missing deadlines (really I feel that’s an issue of the team needing to set reasonable and realistic expectations for themselves—clearly what happened on the 15th is not sustainable). I don’t think the average player gives a second thought to what needs to be done to put seemingly minor things in a videos game

OMG WELCOME BACK JISU 🩷🩷🩷 I missed you 🥺 How's it been???
For me at least it's been kinda slow 🥹 like reached a milestone but I have no theme and no idea how to decorate the event post ⚰️ I'll figure it out eventually 🧍♀️ Plus I also went on like an unexplained hiatus and came back to post a finished draft so now I both forgot how to write AND how to socialize on this app, "how do I communicate? How did I used to write? Do I just send asks? Wait I forgot to follow writers I liked" 💀 so it's been ok on this app 😭
A little extra thing tho, I finally got an organizer for my figures so now they look neat and not strewn across my desk 💪 getting my life together (that's a lie, I spent 3 hours in a mall with my friend trying to interview strangers for an assignment that's due TOMORROW)
All in all, it's been great irl and ok on this app 💀 hope it's better been better on your end, Jisu
P.s I realized we never exchanged instas (optional) or roblox users and I've been thinking abt it ever since I remembered 💆♀️
YUUUUU I MISSED U TOO <333 congrats on ur milestone omg and dw i still have stuff leftover from 700 and im sorry but those def aren't gonna be done coz like i cant write anymore LOLL

i had a dream about you today. i woke up to the thought of you–fuzzy but not forgotten. i searched and searched for your social medias or any trace of you that i could find online, but unfortunately i only found your tiktok and an old instagram account that you dont use (both of them being private). i even sent a message dedicated to you on the unsent project knowing you'll never read it and even if you do, you'll never know it was from me. sadly, i don't remember your last name but i wish i did so that my search for a trace of you could be easier. a part of me wants to send your private account a follow request despite knowing you'll never accept it.
i dont miss you but i do want to know how you're doing now. i looked on google classroom and you weren't there so i'm assuming you moved away and out of the country??? who knows. however, the image of your face and the syllables of your name pop up in my mind occasionally, but i have no complaints–just curiosity and unanswered questions. maybe we'd still be friends if i wasn't young and confused. maybe i'll see you in highschool? last time we spoke, i remember you telling me you'd be going to hillcrest and not michael phair, but judging from the 'unknown user' on our gr 5 google classroom im sticking to my assumption that you moved to a different school district or country. perhaps, by some miracle, you'll see this.
can you believe it? on this day, 4 years ago, we were friends playing roblox together to pass the time. the memories i have of you are engraved and etched into every crevice of my mind–both being positive and negative and some neutral. im happier now and i hope you are too despite your wrong doings towards me–towards each other. i pray that you're well and living your best life. i remember you telling me about how cancer runs in your family and i hope that you dont get it and if you do, i hope you beat it and it never returns. i dont know if you're alive or where you are right now, but just know that i remember you and im thinking of you.
from ur gr 5 friend
Ps. i found ur last name–at least the one used on your mom's side.

hi welcome to my rant about RH elitism
It genuinely fascinates me how much elitism has taken hold in a glorified dress-up game.
In the first place, you have to play for days just to get mid/low-tier dress up items. Basic things like corsets, skirts, heels and sleeves, and if your outfit doesn't have 3 out of those 4, then its basically just a weird-looking roblox avatar.
The seasonal attire is weird too. You can only get certain outfit sets during certain months of the year. Those sets are the most desirable, and if you miss that 1-2 month window where they are available to buy from the shop, then you either wait another year for it or sit in the trading hub or scroll through reddit looking for someone to offer. And even then, depending on the seller, the dim price of that set can be blown way out of proportion, especially if the item is difficult to come across.
Halos I can understand, because they were designed to be hard to get. If everything is easy to obtain, then the game isn't really as much fun. But everything regarding the basic sets is dumb, especially regarding taking legacy items off the shop.
My point is that this game is not casual-friendly. Sure, you can dress up your roblox avatar and use the hair models. But if you want to use the corsets and skirts and heels and accessories, you have to grind for hours on days on weeks to get enough dims. And all this is assuming you don't just give in and pay real-life currency to get the dims you need to get that one item you really want.
A great example of legacy item inflation is the Large Train Bow skirt, abbreviated ltbs. The ltbs og price was 33k, and because it used stolen meshes, it was taken off the shop and remodeled in March of 2020. Currently there is a limited amount of ltbs owned by RH players.
And now the price of that 33k skirt has blown up to over 1M dims. People have traded away their halos for it. This skirt is so ridiculously unattainable that people have signed petitions asking for the devs to put it back on the shop. But Night Barbie - one of the devs - refused on one of her streams, saying it would be unfair for the players who bought it for the inflated price.
Its that same mentality of "I suffered through this, and so you should too." And that's a dumb, illogical mentality. If legacy items can be made more widely available, they should be!
RH has primarily young users because this is - may I remind you - a glorified dress-up game. This isn't a stock exchange, and its stupid to artificially inflate items like these.
There are so many people that insist on raising the value of a digital model so high that no one but the elitist of the elite RH players can use it. There are so many people debating the value of a digital model. Idk about you but this kind of reminds me of NFT culture.
(Obviously this situation is somewhat more controlled since the main currency being traded is virtual and not irl, but the mentality of the two is too close for comfort imo.)
Some people have suggested putting the ltbs back on the shop and labeling the og ltbs as Original, like they did with the Giant Teddy Bear. This sets it apart from the og version, so that the people who bought the ltbs for 1.5M dims can still feel special for owning the og skirt. If you still worry the ltbs will drop in value if its sold for the og price, you can sell it in the shop for, idk 75k. Still a challenge, but infinitely more attainable for casuals.
For the seaonal items I would suggest monthly windows of availability(? Like, instead of having to wait for 6 months, the wait is only 1 month, or a few weeks. Maybe every saturday you can buy the Mon Cherie set, or something like that. This would make the game way more accessible to people that can't spent all their time dim farming, and that test of patience isn't sacrificed either.
The DewDrop showers and Egg Hunt events are both giving away items for free in return for participating in games. This is why I think the devs might be trying to make items - or at least the accessories - more accessible to casuals.
I was playing RH back when it was called Winx High School. The game was Winx Club-centric, and Enchantix High was basically the only realm other than a WIP earth realm.
The game was focused on roleplay and exploration, and the Enchantix High updates were intended to improve and expand roleplay opportunities.
Maybe its my nostalgia talking, but I prefer the roleplay and exploration focus over the dim grinding and trading focus.

I decided to visit an old Roblox game.
Very old game, created back in the distant year of 2013. This game was a good chunk of my childhood. It took me a while to find the original as it was so popular that tens of dozens of clones were made of just the base concept alone, not changing a thing. But I did find it eventually. (This is going to be a bit long, fyi)
7.6+ million visits
7.6 *million*. People have logged into this one game, 7.6 million times. That’s fucking insane, and a testament to just how popular this game was. Sure, it was no Natural Disaster Survival, but it’s definitely up there. Of course there are newer games that have since surpassed this game dozens of times over, but that doesn’t change that much, Roblox wasn’t as big, or accessible as it is now. However
0 active users...
Not a single living person is on this game. Isn’t that nuts? Isn’t it insane that something like that can happen, and the game is still up and running, available for whatever wanderer happens upon it to join?
Obviously I had to hop on myself, this game was important for me so I had to wander it’s ruins and well.
In ruins it is. Entire rooms and hallways have no floor or ceiling. I don’t know if this is just the server I’m in that got messed up by hackers or what but it hit me seeing it like this. I don’t have words to accurately describe how it makes me feel.
Okay, I may as well say what the game is, if you don’t already know. It’s “Survive SONIC.EXE In Area 51!”. I know, it’s silly and extremely dated, but also, 2013. This stuff was massively popular. I remember being in servers full of people desperately trying to get away, and sometimes purposefully sabotaging the doors to let him through.
And now here I stand, the only one left. Well, I can’t say that because I stopped playing it too, but I seem to be the only one that remembers it and wanted to return.
Okay I decided to join a different server of the game and no, that stuff is still missing. The game has simply fallen apart over time.
I know it’s stupid to get sentimental over a Roblox game, especially one as small and dated as this one is, but something about it was too much for me to just ignore.
It’s kind of beautiful, thinking about it. A fossil of an older, easier time. It’s broken, missing key details, like many fossils may be, but otherwise everything is still there, preserved in the amber of the Roblox servers. There for people, almost a full decade after it was created, to explore. It may have gotten an update in March of last year, but given how empty the game is, that’s like a descendant of a ruined town replacing a fallen sign back where it used to be. There’s no hope for a future of this game, to whom it may appeal have long since grown out of it or moved on, and while the brief resurgence of Sonic.EXE (thanks to fnf mods) may have happened, it’s likely not enough to bring this game back to it’s glory days. It’s simply a relic of the past. Time may rhyme and repeat, but it rarely, if ever, reuses props. At least not without remaking them from scratch and, in the age of the internet, old things simply will not do.
#Wow I'm tired. I just wrote nearly 600 words just because I wanted to check out an old roblox game I used to play#Could've written more if I wasn't falling asleep as I finish this post but I think what I said should suffice#bada originals#that's an unused tag that I can take for my original posts#time to completely forget about it the next time I decide to make a normal post

Part two
(the second part of me trade, also known as I forgot how to write send help)
Terryn checked the text once more and glanced at the clock in the upper right corner.
[From Terryn] 7pm, Movie tonight @ 8. Be ready
That was what he had written Chris, his roommate for over seven years, online dating status recently upgraded to husband. It was now 8:30, far past the time they were scheduled to be in the middle of enjoying their bi-monthly Date Night.
An unacceptable deviation from their predestined course as far as he was concerned. This was a tradition Chris had started since before they had even gotten together. In the early years, the military had taken its toll on the former nurse’s personal life, and he’d found himself alone with people whose schedules always seemed to conflict with his own. But that didn’t stop the dark days from coming when Chris was a bundle of manic energy barely held together in physical form by old ducktape and chicken wire. During those moments, he’d wanted. Needed, to go out somewhere, anywhere beyond the four-walled prison that made up their apartment. The only problem was he’d needed his plus one, because, when he was joined by a companion he hadn't felt quite as alone.
Terryn had agreed readily enough, not just because it meant free food(though this was a perk), but also he’d felt a bizarre sense of responsibility for his roommate. He had not regretted making the decision.
Fast-forward a few years and a ton of mutual pining and deep soul-searching later, and through it all there was not a date that they had missed.
Chris seemed accepting enough of the delay, drumming his hands on the lobby table while he played Roblox on his cellphone and surreptitiously scanned the crowd for anyone who might be taking undue interest in them, Terryn, on the other hand, was still, eyebrows furrowed, arms crossed over his chest, and quietly incensed.
The theater had managed to overbook their seating, and now he and his partner had been made to wait two and a half hours before they finally saw the damn film. They had received superior accommodation for their troubles, but that was hardly a benefit when factoring the time they could've spent literally anywhere else.
If the cinema had bothered to call, hell, even shoot off a text message or an email, just to let them know that plans had changed, it would have been one thing, a disappointment, but not one he couldn’t have rolled with.
The date would still be on; obviously, he wouldn't have canceled this on Chris, not when the guy looked forward to these things like a kid on Christmas, but there were better places to spend one's time than a noisy theater lobby.
He could have made dinner for them both before they’d set out at the very least, then he wouldn’t be sitting here grumpy and hungry. The only thing keeping him from paying for the overpriced nachos was the thought of what the ingredients had been sitting out in the open, congealing in a cruddy Frankensteinian combination of aged mystery meat and what he supposed was meant to pass as cheese would do to his digestive system.
This meant Chris also went without because Terryn would never subject someone he cared for to food he'd never feed himself. Chris hadn’t shown any interest in the menu, but if they had been in a decent place, he would have already ordered a few appetizers and shoved them in Chris’ direction. He wouldn’t eat everything on his plate, but an attempt was made, and anything was an improvement over nothing at all.
And, to be frank, He hated depriving Chris of food when the man didn’t seem to eat all that much in the first place.
Chris might not eat as much as Terryn felt he should, but he knew his partner could appreciate an attempt at a homemade gourmet dinner. After all who wouldn't enjoy a meal handcrafted by himself, using vegetables cut to perfection and stored inside cans for an extended shelf life, prepared with meats not yet considered unsalvageable, all prepared from a traditional recipe passed through generations of internet users, and stolen straight from the food website with the highest rating Terryn could find? It would have been relatively cheap, and they'd have both been fed at the very least.
Some might joke that he shared a few traits too many with Spongebob's Mr. Krabs, but unlike the crustacean, he could cook on a budget and no one had ever gotten food poisoning on his watch.
He wasn't confident this particular cinema could boast the same, if whatever he was meant to be looking at under the heating lamp was any indication, he recognized the nachos, it was hard to mistake tortilla chips after all, but number of things, one of which might have once been a corndog, were shriveled up beyond recognition.
If he hadn't already prepaid, hadn’t already promised Chris he’d get him this movie he’d have tried to convince his partner they were better off eating out tonight instead (Denny’s was usually relatively cheap and was open 24/7) and downloading the movie illegally to soothe a steadily growing need for petty revenge.
If these people caused a break in their long-held tradition, not only would he be writing a nasty letter to the manager, he would follow that up by typing up a brutal review to anyone, from Yelp to Google Maps, willing to accept his missives. He could not control how the day went, but he did have that happy power to make them regret this day.
Next time, they’d do something more straightforward. Maybe take a drive to a city they’d never been before, take a bunch of selfies Terryn wouldn’t care for but Chris would happily print. Later on, he'd add them to the growing collection of photo albums they had created together(bonus points if the places had any historical value), rent a room at the cheapest hotel they could find, and watch Netflix She-Ra while Chris cuddled up to him in his pajamas. That would have been a nice day.
Instead, Terryn had promised they’d go out to the movies.
“Just think of it,” he’d said earlier that very morning, sleep not yet chased from his voice. “You, me, and the Big Screen.” He hadn’t been as interested in the ordeal as Chris, but he’d wanted to make him happy. “No worries. No interruptions.” Terryn had meant those words, and they’d turned him into a liar. Chris had believed him because there was no reason not to, the shorter of the two was a man of his word.
He watched the numbers on his phone change from 9:00 to 9:01 and wondered if he should surrender to Chris’ demands on Facebook messenger challenging him to a Player vs. Player battle on Pokemon Go.
It was inevitable that Chris would win any match the two set themselves to as the game expected him to spend real-world currency and he’d neglected his team as a result. The thought of keeping Chris contented and distracted was the only thing that honestly made him consider it.
Their waitress came by their table and frowned at the pair who had ordered nothing but the water when it had been offered freely as they waited. He could feel her giving them pitying looks and hear the whispers of the other employees as they went about their tasks.
“Can I get you anything, boys?” The waitress, an attractive thirty-something, who stands next to their table, a notepad in her hand, prepared to jot down anything they might ask. Terryn considers the question if they ordered the theatre would benefit, but she’s been walking by, dutifully refilling their glasses with water every time she’d seen them emptied. He didn’t appreciate being made to wait, but he could be moved by decent customer service. He looks at Chris, inviting the man to order whatever he felt he wanted, before going back to check the time.
“Could I have a coffee, please?” Chis asked, and Terryn could practically hear the smile in his tone. She nodded, marking it dutifully on her notepad and frowns at the two.
“I’m sorry you boy have had to wait so long.” She says, her voice seemed genuinely apologetic. “Thank you for being so patient.” She says this with a curtsey and turns around when they both tell her that waiting was no trouble.
“It’s no trouble.” He echoes, feeling the lie eat away at his tongue, relaxing only when Chris stretched his hand across the table and took Terryn’s in his own, and smiling reassuringly at him.
The redhead takes a deep breath before sitting up, posture ramrod straight once more. He watches their waitress pass through the double doors that led to the kitchen, and he fervently prayed there would be nothing wrong with the coffee she brought back.
Chris’ grip on his hand tightens, catching his attention, and the man proceeds to give him a wicked smile. It’s the only warning he gets before a weight slides seductively against his inner thigh. It’s only his steady self-control that prevents him from jolting at the touch.
That had been a prosthetic leg touching him with familiarly he’d only ever afforded to one person.
He frowned across the table and Chris smiled, innocent as a newborn duckling. Fitting since he’d never trusted ducks in the first place.
There weren’t many patrons, most who walked within their field of vision were viewers moving to and from the concession stands and the packed theaters but the idea that even one person could have seen, well. It didn’t bare thinking of, to be honest.
Chris makes a beckoning motion and just like that he’s walking towards the restrooms, the one in the middle that says ‘Gender-Neutral.’
The doors swung open even as Terryn wondered if following the man was in his best interests.
He noticed immediately upon entering that it was a one-person stall. Chris quickly locked the door behind him.
A shiver struck him straight in the stomach, part fear, part something else as he registered how very loud the pull of the other man’s zipper sounded in the echoes of the bathroom despite the thumping base from the theater. “Chris…”
“You looked tense in there,” Chris said, a coy smirk playing on his face, watching his companion through those stunning eyes. “I thought perhaps I could help you loosen some of that pressure?” Terryn gives Chris a fresh once over, and suddenly there seemed entirely too much space between them. The shiver that’d started up in his belly deepens into a sizzle that rocketed along his spine. Chris wasn’t the most attractive man he’d ever met, but damn him for a deceiver if he ever said the man didn’t touch him in ways no other could. “And if I decline?” “Then I suppose we’ll just be returning to much of the same,” Chris says, and he’s already undoing the buttons to his collared shirt as he allows Terryn to back him up against the wall. His eyes are wide and he holds Terryn’s gaze steadily until they’re lined up, so close a breath makes their bodies touch. “Unless you’ll let me poké battle you into your early grave.” He grins mischievously. Terryn slips a hand under the open zipper of Chris’ winter coat, his palm settling against the man’s taut stomach. The light fabric of Chris’ shirt whispers along skin under Terryn’s touch. “Maybe later,” Terryn comment, and yeah, perhaps he will let Chris slaughter his team later if the man was so enthused by the prospect. Terryn runs his hand down to get a feel at what Chris is hiding in his pants, and the look in his lover’s eyes when he palms him is worth trouble alone. Chris is taller than him, so he takes a handful of that shirt and nudges that soft mouth open with his own. “You like the thought of handing my butt to me, Chris?” He asked, still referencing the game, but leaving his words open for euphemism. "You know it." There’s a challenge in his eyes and a smirk on his lips that Terryn finds captivating. Outside of Chris, Terryn’s never met a gay man so comfortable in his own sexuality before. His palm shapes the shaft thickening under his touch, and he feels the quiver in the press of Chris’ leg against his own. A firm squeeze brings an aftershock, and he considers sucking Chris off until the man’s legs damn well buckle. But then there was no doubt they’d get caught. The prospect of getting caught was probably what set this particular idea off in Chris’ mind. Terryn knew that. But there was more to it. The idea of being outside, where anyone could hear them realize what they were doing after they’d been figuratively screwed over by the theater made it exciting. Chris would only be getting this one time out of him, and then never again. All the buttons of Chris’ shirt are opened now, and he’s tugging both it and the coat free from his arms. Chris looks good when he’s all mussed up, and Terryn’s pretty sure that he's never going to see that darn winter coat and not think about how well Chris looks right now in this moment. "I think it's about time you let me help you,” Chris tells him. “I don’t know…” Terryn responds with a grin, “I’m feeling better with things as they are right now.” He makes it a mission to get Chris thoroughly debauched before his manhood feels the breeze. A nudge to the jaw has Chris tipping his head back, giving it all up as easy as you please. Terryn braces his hands on Chris’ hips to pin him in place and tongues at Chris’ throat until the hands grasping at his shoulders turn shaky and desperate, each clutch of fingers a mute request for friction. He licks a path up to Chris’ ear, breathes a laugh there when Chris’ hips jolt. Lips dragging along the horizontal angle of Chris’ cheek, Terryn goes back in for a kiss, keeping everything slow and thorough, and when Chris melts, he goes like a rumbling avalanche. A hard, full-body shudder chases the low rumble of a groan spilling straight onto Terryn’s tongue and the only thing keeping Chris on his feet is the press of Terryn’s body against his. Feeling lightheaded with all his blood gone south, Terryn can’t keep up the necking forever. He resents his own body for making him come up for air. Hauling their bodies tight, he sucks in a breath that makes his lungs ache and lets Chris have a go at the hollow of his throat. After a moment, he looks down, waits for Chris’ eyes to open, and says, “If you want to continue, you might want to remove the pants.” Dimly, Terryn notes how Chris needs to gather the strength to turn around. He can sympathize; it takes a lot more effort than it should to undo his belt. The idea of Chris fucking Terryn on his knees in the bathroom of a theater, ready and willing, seemed to be turning the man on something fierce, judging by the bulge in the man’s jeans. Chris pushes his trousers down, shorts dragging with them to show his prosthetic leg and bare the meat of his tight little ass. With a mouth pressed to the back of his neck and hands spread at the low of his back, Chris goes up on his toes. A shaky exhale marks the moment Terryn’s cock rubs naked and hot against his skin. "I hope you don’t think I’d consent on taking it raw." Chris' body quivers from a silent laugh, and sure enough, with a little digging around in his trouser pocket, he produces a small tube of Vaseline. Terryn shakes his head and laughs. It shouldn't be so surprising, but it's just so convenient he's at a loss for words. Chris' ankles inch apart like a reminder and Terryn gives him an extra nudge, moving his foot aside until he's indeed spread out and waiting. There’s nothing like making love with someone you cared for, and a rare tickle of nerves flutters around in his belly when Chris is all greased up and ready to go. He discovers that this time he's the one who must steady himself as their bodies line up together.
With the way he arches his back, Terryn knows he seems more than eager for it.
He lets Chris help him with the work regardless, and it's no adversity for Chris to pry Terryn open with a combination of thumb and phallus. Before long, Chris' putting wrinkles into his shirt and jacket, a handful of fabric crushed in his grip to expose both the slant of Terryn’s shoulder blades and the columns of muscle low on his spine. Terryn’s hands smack against the porcelain toilet to give him the leverage to fuck himself onto Chris’ cock, grimacing as he realized what he’d just touched, and planning to cleanse himself fully later on that evening. He enjoys the feel of it pulsing within him and is left frustrated that his body needs time to adjust to taking more than just the head without causing himself unnecessary damage. He feels Chris’ hands reverently traces the curves of his rump with the edge of his thumbs, moving inwards where Terryn’s skin goes from smooth to dusted with dark fuzz to furred with soft curls. Chris spreads his hand out and squeezes where it matters most, all those little hairs catch in the sweat of his palm, and he whispers little endearments that are almost lost beneath the growing compression building up in Terryn’s chest. The heel of his hand digs in past soft flesh to find muscle, and Chris spreads Terryn open until nothing is obscuring the slow strokes that get him closer and closer to bottoming out. When the slide gets more harried, and the lift of Terryn’s hips turns greedier, Chris firms his hold in the back of Terryn’s shirt. The two of them are in Sympatico now, their intimacy firm and slow and finding enough ways to distract themselves from giving in to the urge to just slam it until they come.
They both work to whip it up a little. To keep things exciting: sometimes Chris started randomly hammering at him just to get Terryn’s stability to teeter and make him steady himself, other times it's twisting back and tracing a finger down from Chris' tailbone to where the Vaseline’s got all those little hairs stuck in whorls, they nip and tuck and roll as one.
Chris gives his seat a squeeze again, peeling his hand away and watching in fascination as a ghost of the print appears in the middle of Terryn’s darkly flushed skin, before giving it a little slap.
Terryn kisses him after that last slap across his bottom and knows all the way to the heart of him the two of them are going to treasure this for a long time. He extends an arm out to rest a hand on Chris' shoulder and tries not to think about how things will change.
They work so well together and have for some time now. It’s as hard to conceptualize the future as it is to remember precisely how things were in the past.
So he focuses on the moment as best he can. On the wet sounds they make and his partner's breathing and the gritty burn that comes when Chris grips him firmly and works his johnson with purpose. He slips his hands into the other man's hair and moves, rocking back and forth with his hips and butt to get Chris moaning and enjoy the now before he gives in and finishes the job with enthusiasm.
Pushes out a ragged groan that’s still echoing in his skull when finally his body pulls, rolling in those slow waves that washed away tension as if it had never been.
Terryn rolls half on top of him and returns the favor with a rough hand and slow kisses, and when they’re both sated and sticky, he realizes how very much it’s like stepping onto the edge of a high cliff and having faith instead of a chute.
He wants to believe more than anything that Chris feels as strongly, that Chris is his Chute.
Chris blinked sleepily at Terryn as he stood up again, helping Chris tuck his prosthetic leg back into his pants and kissing him deeply just in time for someone to knock on the door. He smirked as Chris scrambled to pull up, covering his laugh with a hand. “Stimulating enough for you?”
“Maybe a little too exciting.” Chris shook his head as the two rapidly began cleaning the evidence of what they had done.
He laughed, wrapping an arm around Chris’ waist and pulling him toward the door, thankfully no one was waiting for them outside. “Come on, I think your coffee is in danger of going cold.”

3 lessons from Roblox’s growth to gaming dominance
Our recently published EC-1 on Roblox recounts the origin story and growth prospects of the company. But there’s one more piece to the story: what Roblox’s impact will be on gaming and the broader startup industry, if the company manages to multiply its current 90 million users.
Sources: TechCrunch, VentureBeat, Roblox
We’ve distilled three key ideas out of the EC-1 — lessons that may apply not only to game developers and gaming entrepreneurs, but also to the broader startup industry.
Lesson 1: UGC is a missed opportunity in games
Roblox has shown that user-generated content (UGC) is a missed opportunity for much of the game industry. The company aspires, in a way, to be the YouTube of games. And it is succeeding, with 2 million experiences to date.
The game industry generally has two problems with UGC. One is the games themselves: AAA games today are too complex, and lack the flexibility and simplicity needed for robust UGC. Roblox shows that a simpler look and feel is a valid alternative to today’s super-sized, beautiful AAA games. (Minecraft proved much the same.)
The other problem is the greater complexity of making games than, say, videos or music. Roblox solved this problem by building its own game engine, which is designed solely to output Roblox-style experiences.
But increasingly, engines like Unity are capable of accomplishing similar feats: games are getting easier to build. It’s now possible that savvy entrepreneurs could build a platform like Roblox, without building an entire game engine.
Lesson 2: New opportunities in gaming are still coming
The game industry is infamously cyclical. New platforms emerge, become promising, then grow overcrowded and competitive. Usually, this cycle relates to hardware (the iPhone, virtual reality helmets, game consoles like the Nintendo Switch) or massive changes in consumer behavior (the emergence of Facebook, the early growth of the internet). But Roblox, a pure software play, shows that exceptions could exist.
It’s still early days. Roblox reported that it paid out $30 million to game developers in 2017, doubling to $60 million in 2018. Since Roblox keeps 65 percent of revenue from its games, that means it made around $230 million total in 2018. Its top 10 developers made about $2.5 million each. Seven of its games have also entered a “billion plays” club:
Meep City – 3.7 billion visits
Jailbreak – 2.8 billion
Royale High – 1.7 billion
Murder Mystery 2 – 1.7 billion
Work at a Pizza Place – 1.6 billion
Adopt Me – 1.3 billion
Welcome to Bloxburg – 1.0+ billion
Adopt Me, a newer game, hit 440,000 concurrent users in June, a new record for the platform.
When a new platform appears, it’s usually found by amateur developers first. That’s certainly the case with Roblox: its successes are being created almost exclusively by first-time game developers in their teens and twenties. At some point, professional developers are likely to conclude they can do at least as well. The current market is particularly exciting because many games are fairly simple and lightweight — recent breakout hits like Camping 2 and Weight Lifting Simulator 3 are significantly smaller than comparable games on other platforms.
For entrepreneurs interested in creating new platforms or portals Roblox’s success as a combined game engine and self-contained platform also shows that opportunities still exist — if you have the patience to wait for them to mature.
Lesson 3: Patience can create amazing growth cycles
It took Roblox 15 years to grow to its current point. But most of that growth is recent: as seen in the chart above, Roblox experienced 10x growth in about 3 years, from 9 million users in February 2016 to 90 million in April 2019.
So what went into the decade or so during which Roblox was a much smaller platform? As we tell it in the origin story: a great deal of work, and very little paid acquisition.
In its early years, Roblox did buy users, to seed a user base while it worked on an impossibly large vision that included a game engine, platform, social features, a creator community, and its own games. But after a few years, it stopped buying users.
All of its growth since has been organic. That’s from two main sources: word of mouth, and YouTube users who watch one of the many Roblox streamers. Of course, any company can try to do the same. But Roblox had the patience to build a unique product — one which took years of work to even reach partial completion.
The key to it all was long-term adherence to a long-term goal: the creation of a new category, which it calls “human coexperience”. Today, Roblox still can’t be called part of a new category; it’s a game platform. But with more years of work, it may eventually get there.
