Waterrock Knob Trail Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina 1.11 miles 429 ft. Elevation Gain
Well I had one more big hike planned for my trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway that was 10 miles, but my body was super tired, and since the mountain was 20 minutes off the parkwayI decided to give my body a break and just do this last little hike, Waterrock Knob. It was an easy trail, paved most of the way. A pretty nice hike and view foe the final hike of the parkway. I am going to miss these views. <3

The biggest crock of shit I was ever told growing up is that “enjoying the outdoors is free.” Physically walking outdoors (if you’re able-bodied) is free and that’s about it. Quality gear that enhances what you can do/your safety is EXPENSIVE. It’s hard to get to nature without a car. Gas is expensive. There are permits and passes and parking fees galore. And about a million other things.

The Basalt Columns of the Giants Causeway
Tumblr media
Good times with my wife along the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland.
We spent a few weeks in her homeland late last year and had a chance to explore all over the country. If you ever get the chance to visit, do so and treat yourself. You won't regret it.
Let's go exploring, international edition.

Shawangunk Ridge Trail High Point State Park, NJ 7.6 miles 1,114 ft. Elevation Gain
I haven't been to NJ's high point since I decided to summit every states high point, so that was either 2016 or 2017. Anyway, the trail, the SRT is actually a longer trails that starts a little before the High Point Monument in NJ and goes north for 71 miles and ends in Mohonk, NY. Today I only did from High Point to the NY/NJ state line and back. The views along the trail are awesome, and the trail was really well marked. At one point the sea gets a little swampy so there is a nice boardwalk that goes over it. So glad it was a beautiful day out! One day I am going to hike the whole SRT, maybe early this summer!
