The sooner we can all realize the truth, the better we can all be towards ourselves and each other. When people choose beliefs that make statements like "this is the ONLY belief that's right. All others are wrong." This creates separateness. It creates friction in their relationships as well as themselves cause now they are more stuck on right or wrong, condemning those who dont believe their path. When the truth is that there is no right or wrong. There is no "one way" in life. Just be yourself, accept who ever you are and your expressions. Do the same for others regardless if you agree with it or not is irrelevant. It's their life. You have your own to govern. Whatever we each believe, we are neither right nor wrong. For it's an expression of a part of ourselves. And who is to tell us our unique expression is wrong just cause it's not like theirs? Ps. Any belief that tells you they are the only way is what's called a luciferian belief. No Lucifer is not a name of a devil. Omelas references on Spring Day MV

Okay, so it is conspiracy theories’ season again. Thank you BTS.

First of all: the new concept is based on “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas”. It is a work of philosophical fiction written by Ursula Le Guin. That said, I have read the story and I got the feeling that we are right to assume Omelas has been the inspiration for this MV.

SO LET’S APPRECIATE THE REFERENCES!!!

As many of you have said already, Omelas is a fictional utopia where people are happy all the time and even though they are celebrating an important festival (the summer solstice) the vibrant, warm and colorful atmosphere is not different from their everyday lives.

So, first sentence on this short story is:

With a clamor of bells that set the swallows soaring, the Festival of Summer came to the city Omelas, bright-towered by the sea.

Omelas is a fairy tail. There’s no conflict, there’s no pain, there’s no starvation, there’s nothing but happiness and glitter. And of course lots of people like to go to that Festival of Summer. By train:

I incline to think that people from towns up and down the coast have been coming in to Omelas during the last days before the Festival on very fast little trains and double-decked trams, and that the train station of Omelas is actually the handsomest building in town, though plainer than the magnificent Farmers' Market.

Hoseok is sitting on a train and Namjoon is presumably INSIDE that train?:

Omelas is such a perfect place that the narrator jokes saying that you can add any detail that you want. You want that city to do orgies? Then that’s what they do. Are they religious people? Why not. People like to walk naked? Of course! This is a dreamy place, you can do whatever you want. They can also do drugs if you want them to do drugs. (Which is kinda funny because I don’t know about you but in Spain people think that shoes/trainers hanging of on power lines mean PEOPLE ARE SELLING DRUGS)

But nope, I think that the real meaning behind these scene:

is that a pair of shoes dangling on a power line also means that some death event has happened. (I think that could be a tree instead of a power line but).

Now we face the real problem. All this happiness is real because there is a little kid suffering, crying, dying inside a room. Everyone is happy because he is not. Basically here’s the paradox and the main issue the reader has to confront. Would you give up on your happiness and the whole Omelas’ happiness just because a person, just one individual is suffering? Mmm…

The author says:

Often the young people go home in tears, or in a tearless rage, when they have seen the child and faced this terrible paradox. They may brood over it for weeks or years. But as time goes on they begin to realize that even if the child could be released, it would not get much good of its freedom: a little vague pleasure of warmth and food, no doubt, but little more. It is too degraded and imbecile to know any real joy

Which basically is: there’s no happiness if you don’t know sadness. And there’s no evil if you don’t know good. Because young people know that kid is under their feet they are able to be happy. If that kid doesn’t know anything but sadness, darkness and loneliness how could he know that there’s something better. 

Which basically is the “there’s no Good without Bad blablabla”. What is an angel without a demon? And... it’s impossible that God wanted us to be only good if he also created bad things and tempations. Which basically is the plot of Demian. (God, I love BTS so much)

Hello.

The story ends with a group of people. Women. Men. But also YOUTH. Who can’t cope with the reality of the situation anymore. Oh, this reminds me of:

The realms of day and night. Two different worlds coming from two oppositepoles mingled during this time - H.H.

They run away. They escape from Omelas.

They keep walking, and walk straight out of the city of Omelas, through the beautiful gates. They keep walking across the farmlands of Omelas.

And they go towards a place which we can’t even imagine. A place better than the city of happiness, apparently.
