At rest, your lungs wish to deflate, and your ribcage expands outwards.
#better drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#yiling laozu#Happy Friday the 13th!#This is scientific fact btw!#Ventilation operates through a series of active and passive forces#The active forces being muscular contraction with inhalation and exhalation having their own set of muscles.#but the interesting part is the passive forces at work:#The lungs have a certain level of elasticity to them - meaning the more they expand the more the those elastic forces are functioning-#-to try and return the system to rest (exhalation passive forces). Your diaphragm is the main force - pushing against the lungs at rest.#Your ribcage on the other hand is under a state of being pulled outwards. It *wants* to be as open as possible.#These to contradicting forces create a constant push and pull which assists in the ebb and flow of air. Most significantly with exhalation.#Now that being said - the primary action of inhalation ventilation is through control centers in your brainstem.#If you lose connection to that due to trauma you're going to need ventilation assistance.#Small note: Respiration is the cellular event of chemical exchange in the alveoli. Ventilation is airflow and pressure.#They are both important but also very different things. Sadly used interchangeably.#My anatomy nerd brain is screaming over the inaccurate ribcage...but its...recognizable. I will get it right one day.#Okay nerd rant over (I cut out a lot of stuff about pressure gradients. They are cool. To me.)#This is a redraw of an mspaint doodle I made back in april. I yearn to make the Yiling Laozu eerie as he deserves#Tear that bitch (affectionate) apart!#Been playing around with hatching for a while and its amazing how many styles there are! Not sure I'll stick with this one (but it was fun)

"Everyone was calling everyone. I was honored to call one of the family members of the 9/11 victims; I called the House Homeland Security Committee and [Secretary of Homeland Security] Janet Napolitano. While I was in the Situation Room, I overheard one of the White House operations, saying [on the phone], 'Oh, I'm so sorry -- I didn't know you didn't work for President Clinton anymore. Do you know where I can reach him?' President Obama was calling his predecessors, George W. Bush and President Clinton. The operator is trying to find President Clinton. I looked at him and I said, 'Hold on one minute.' And I stepped back into the main room, [Secretary of State] Hillary [Clinton] was there, and I said, 'Madam Secretary, I'm really sorry to bother you, but do you have your husband's phone number?'
-- Mike Leiter, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, on the immediate aftermath of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011. President Obama was trying to get in touch with his immediate predecessors to notify them about the successful special forces operation and bin Laden's death, but there was some trouble finding contact information for former President Bill Clinton until Leiter realized he could simply ask Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the former President's phone number.

Was curious about how they might have changed Triti in future Trauma Center games and it turns out that out of the 7 GUILTs, Triti is one of the only 2 that never returned in any other game in the series. The entire playerbase said "FUCK this stupid triangle I never want to see it again!" and the devs were like "yeah fair enough"
#original#trauma center#hope my followers have enjoyed my contextless ramblings about this game#they're about to go into hibernation because i don't plan to play Under the Knife 2 for a while#but They Will Return#the other GUILT that never returned is Paraskevi which only got 2(ish) operations in the whole game

IT'S TIME IT'S TIME IT'S TIME!!! The demo is done! I got the bandage working and added a good dose of polish and now it's an actual game! Play it! Here's the link: https://dravid.itch.io/trauma-center-recreation
#original#trauma center#trauma center recreation#the one feature i added that i couldn't show off: the patient can die now#before the operation never actually ended#you did everything? you're left sitting on the last screen#vitals hit zero? you can keep playing. or even heal vitals back up with gel#now the operation actually ends when it ends#and then the game closes itself#anyway it's late so goodnight#tomorrow i will wake to news of whether the file actually works or not

i think maybe way too much about how useless Ch'en base skill is
there's literally only 3 operators in the LGD, and it's herself, Hoshiguma and Swire. yes, Ch'en alter is affiled with Rhodes Island, and Swire alter is affiliated with Lungmen
as for our three LGD operators, Ch'en's only Control Center skill is this one, her other skill is in the Reception Room. Hoshiguma has no skill in the Control Center, she only has a Training Room skill, and Swire has one skill in the Control Center, that doesn't even affect the moral of operators
i guess you could slap all three in the Control Center for a marvelous increase of +0.15 morale/hour, and that'll be the only effect they'll have with the +7 order efficiency from Swire
Ch'en. dear. why
#and i dont even have swire#so it makes this double sad!#literally i open the control center to assign operators then i see ch'en and i boo at her#five years and we still have only three LGD operators!!!#give us new coolass LGD operators!!! cmon!!#arknights#im actually curious on what are the most fucked up useless base skills of the game but so far i cant think of something else than ch'en

Decided to watch a “found footage horror film” posted to youtube called Milk & Serial and i’m not even 3 minutes in and it’s so bad bro i actually burst out laughing at how bad it is i can’t wait to watch this
#sid rants#sid watches#gd i love bad found footage movies#they have all the elements of how to make a ff horror movie but they can’t actually grasp it#they don’t give any real justification for continuing to film#the camera angles act like they’re sloppy to seem like a person holding a camera but they’re too perfectly centered on the action-#-to be believable#the camera will also be right in someone’s face while the camera operator is trying to talk to them#like no one is going to take anyone seriously that is recording them that close#or when people pretend they can’t see a camera if/until the plot demands it when it should be in plain view#hell even the thing they’re recording on this movie is not warranting being recorded this extensively#also no excuse is given for the jump cuts bc it isn’t the camera switching on and off when the operator does#but also if it’s ’found footage’ why would it have been edited?#basically they thought making a ff movie would be easier so they did it#and it was not well executed

Imagining an animated series anti-villain Jason, who over an extended period of time becomes a conditional ally for the Bats. He goes from menacing Rogue to eventually becoming a difficult (sometimes annoying!) frenemy.
When disaster hits Gotham, it’s all hands on deck and Red Hood is working closer with the Bats than he ever has before. There is a tense moment when Joker is in their custody and it seems like Hood going to kill him, but at the last minute Jason lowers his gun. Everyone is relieved- there is hope for his redemption yet. This pretty much solidifies Jason rejoining the batfamily. Bruce is pleased. Jason is silent.
In the second part of this special it’s revealed that the Big Bad is actually a pit-mad Talia al-Ghul… And Jason won’t fight her. Bruce is aghast. Robin is baffled. Jason explains that if it weren’t for Talia he wouldn’t even be standing there today. He didn’t come back to life with his mind intact, and she helped him when he didn’t even have the ability to ask for it. He owes her something for that. Bruce takes it to mean Talia has blackmailed Jason somehow. Tim brings up that it’s irrelevant when Talia is currently trying to enact an Evil Scheme. Jason is unmoved. He let the Joker live for them, how is this different? Talia smirks, and holds out her hand. Jason takes it, and they leave the Bats together.
In the final part of the special, the Bats race against time to stop the Evil Scheme. Jason doesn’t have much in the way of speaking parts. Bruce’s death is narrowly avoided by a well placed bomb that gets them away from a more lethal attack. When Talia is inevitably defeated (and her immaculate appearance begins to break down) Jason appears on-screen to put a hand on her shoulder and lead her to escape.
In the epilogue we see Red Hood and Batman again, watching each other from across two different buildings in the wide expanse of Gotham.
Jason is still as loyal to Bruce and his family as he ever was beforehand- the Joker certainly remains alive- yet the trust has been broken. Bruce broods, and the other members of the batfamily make their distaste for Jason known in their now-rare interactions with him.
The season ends with a focus on Damian- the newest Robin. He entered the season ready to prove himself worthy of the Bat, now he’s seen his “older brother” refuse it, effectively going the exact opposite direction Damian did. What will choices will Damian make in his future?
#this show would be about Damian and start when he joined the batfamily to become Robin#by then Under the Red Hood would’ve already happened and just enough time would’ve passed that Jason has a stable operation going#this Jason and Talia centered special should perhaps happen in the second season#idk#jason todd#Jason’s ‘redemption’ being a form of corruption is so my favorite thing#combining my vague understanding of Three Jokers and Leviathan plots into a new thing

Space Station Concepts: Space Operations Center
"The SOC is a self-contained orbital facility built up of several Shuttle-launched modules. With resupply, on-orbit refurbish- ment and orbit maintenance, it is capable of continuous operation for an indefinite period. In the nominal operational mode, the SOC is manned continuously, but unmanned operation is possible.
The present mission management and control process is characterized by a people-intensive ground monitoring and control operation involving large supporting ground information and control facilities and a highly- integrated ground-flight crew operation. In order to reduce dependence on Earth monitoring and control, the SOC would have to provide for increased systems monitoring; fault isolation and failure analysis, and the ability to store and call up extensive sets of data to support the onboard control of the vehicle; and the onboard capability for daily mission and other activity planning."
"Like most other space station studies from the mid/late 1970s its primary mission was the assembly and servicing of large spacecraft in Earth orbit -- not science. NASA/JSC signed a contract with Boeing in 1980 to further develop the design. Like most NASA space station plans, SOC would be assembled in orbit from modules launched on the Space Shuttle. The crew's tour of duty would have been 90 days. NASA originally estimated the total cost to be $2.7 billion, but the estimated cost had increased to $4.7 billion by 1981. SOC would have been operational by 1990.
NASA's Johnson Spaceflight Center extended the Boeing contract in February 1982 to study a cheaper, modular, evolutionary approach to assembling the Space Operations Center. An initial power module would consist of solar arrays and radiators. The next launches would have delivered a space tug 'garage', two pressurized crew modules and a logistics module. The completed Space Operations Center also would have contained a satellite servicing and assembly facility and several laboratory modules. Even with this revised approach, however, the cost of the SOC program had grown to $9 billion. Another problem was Space Operations Center's primary mission: spacecraft assembly and servicing. The likely users (commercial satellite operators and telecommunications companies) were not really interested in the kind of large geostationary space platforms proposed by NASA. By 1983, the only enthusiastic users for NASA's space station plans were scientists working in the fields of microgravity research and life sciences. Their needs would dictate future space station design although NASA's 1984 station plans did incorporate a SOC-type spacecraft servicing facility as well."

Search Engines:
Search engines are independent computer systems that read or crawl webpages, documents, information sources, and links of all types accessible on the global network of computers on the planet Earth, the internet. Search engines at their most basic level read every word in every document they know of, and record which documents each word is in so that by searching for a words or set of words you can locate the addresses that relate to documents containing those words. More advanced search engines used more advanced algorithms to sort pages or documents returned as search results in order of likely applicability to the terms searched for, in order. More advanced search engines develop into large language models, or machine learning or artificial intelligence. Machine learning or artificial intelligence or large language models (LLMs) can be run in a virtual machine or shell on a computer and allowed to access all or part of accessible data, as needs dictate.

Got the laser, tool switching, and passive vitals damage working, polished the vitals display, and started on some level structure that also got me to finally put in a background. It's looking pretty decent now! It'll look even better once I find decent sprites for the Things
#original#trauma center#trauma center recreation#<- tagging my posts of this project from now on#i think for my next step i'll make a Thing that you need to laser first and then it changes appearance and then you extract it#the “level structure” stuff is that there's Operations#and each Operation takes you through various Organs#and the Organs have a background and Wounds#once you treat all the wounds in the organ you get sent to the next organ#so another next step for tomorrow will be stringing together 2 or 3 organs with different stuff#theoretically it should just work right now but it's getting late and i stayed up 'til midnight last night so bye-bye
