So obviously a transcontinental train takes a while to get across the country but how does that work is it just like two guys on a train for a week????
Hi, anon, and sorry for the belated response! There's a lot to work through in my inbox and my new job keeps me verrrry busy.
Crews in the United States actually switch off every twelve hours, as per the FRA mandate. They're also legally required to have at least ten hours of rest before they work again. For those freights that take their damn time crawling across the country, this means that every twelve hours there's a change, a lot like a horse change for a stagecoach or sled dogs switching out. The locomotives will generally stay on the train unless there's a mechanical problem, at which point they'd be switched out ASAP, but for the most part it's the crew that does the changes these days, and they legally have to every 12 hours.
If a crew is riding somewhere on the railroad infrastructure they work on, usually to get to their work positions, but not operating the train, they're deadheading.

Compared to Vis, who is having fun and expecting to benefit from his help, for whom Bulma is nothing more than a purveyor of tasty food and therefore just another planet waiting to be destroyed by Beerus or Zenon anyway, Shin seems like an empathetic being. Yes, he's putting a lot of effort and energy into the creation, socializing with the Earthlings, perhaps finding friends and affection in it.
But he will also be responsible for the destruction of Earth

Leaving aside whatever Daima says about the matter (again, haven't seen it yet), I do think it's worth considering that Kaioshin and Beerus don't seem to coordinate their roles at all. Kaioshin's--yknow maybe it'd be easier from now on to use his name, since apparently that's something Daima gave us. Nahare? okay cool.
Nahare doesn't have much if any say over what Beerus does and doesn't destroy, from what I can gather--just as Beerus has no say/is entirely uninterested in what Nahare does or doesn't create to replace whatever he destroys. He and Beerus seem to operate essentially independently from one another, which would make sense, since they're meant to be balancing forces. Given that there's concern over the average power of each universe in relation to one another, a la Tournament of Power, it's a safe assumption that they split the role of gardener to the unruly shrub that is Universe 7: Beerus does the deadheading, Nahare does the cultivation and shaping, each at their own discretion, with mutual understanding of their amd each other's job in the grand scheme of things--keeping the organism that they're responsible for in its top condition. It's doubtful Nahare would PUT Earth on a chopping block, because that's not his job or his call to make, it's Beerus'. Whether or not they're 'good' at this is another discussion entirely, but this IS what they're assigned to do.
Destruction comes before creation, after all. Most likely scenario to me: Beerus slates Earth for destruction for one reason or another, then carries it out. Nahare would probably be upset because he's formed bonds with some of the mortals on that planet or doesn't understand Beerus' reasoning for doing it, but it's done already. So he judges if the balance must be redressed, and if not, then he accepts that it isn't his jurisdiction and continues to fulfil his role.
Whis is the same, except he wouldn't be upset by it. He is even more aware and accepting of his place in the universe. That's what the whole deal with Merus was about, which I'll get around to in the Moro/Granolah post(s) whenever those manifest.
I do like the idea of a Nahare that's a little more coordinated with Beerus though, that would be a fun what-if to explore.

My Sound Advice column for Brick this week 5/4/2010
I wasn’t always an avowed hippie hater.
In my single digit and early teenage years, I listened to many of the principle players from the late 60’s youth phenomenon (thanks to my father’s record collection) from Dylan to the Byrds, Santana to Jefferson Airplane as well as the one group that not only survived, but prospered long after the Summer of love, The Grateful Dead. Not that I ever owned any of their records myself, but whenever my brother or one of my friends put on, “Box of Rain”, “Uncle John’s Band” or, “Friend of the Devil”, I didn’t complain. Though I would have preferred hearing The Who, Ted Nugent or KISS, it was innocuously pleasant music with the added bonus of being somewhat subversive. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand how they could even remotely be considered rebellious when stacked against my favorite record at the time, “Powerage” by AC/DC, but the older kids, the kids that were smoking pot, seemed to think that they were real scary.
Not being a pot smoker, I assumed they were scary because they had, “dead” in their name.
It wasn’t until years later when I witnessed the Grateful Dead for myself did my hatred blossom for them and the post relevant hippie culture they came to represent. Beyond the meandering, acidic bubbling of Jerry Garcia’s guitar floating over the group’s never ending journey to nowhere, what struck me the most during the 6 times I saw them was the defining lack of thought that epitomized their audience. They were drunken, drug addled idiots. While this stupefaction is evident at any large concert, the vapid hedonism of Grateful Dead crowds was heroic. And that was the allure of Grateful Dead shows: Not to listen to the music, but to get as fucked up as humanly possible. For a band that carried the mantle of the idealism and the hard fought battles of the counter culture movement of the late 60’s, by the time the early 80’s rolled around, the Grateful Dead had withered into forays of laid-back decadence evidenced not only by the drug overdoses of the band members themselves, but the legions of zombies they left in their wake that worshipped them as gods. People think yuppies were bad, but as despicable as those Ronald Reagan, trickle down opportunists were, they were at least making an effort (albeit a questionable one) to better themselves. Latter day hippies on the other hand stood for nothing more than the deadening of one’s head.
And what a long stupid trip it’s been ever since.
Since Papa Jerry’s heroin overdose in 1995, a plethora of jam bands has sought to wear the Grateful Dead’s crown as the number one draw in the financially lucrative and increasingly competitive hippie market. One of the genre’s top concert draws, the Athens, Georgia based Widespread Panic, played two sold out performances at the National recently and agents from the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control had a field day making a total 69 arrests, many for underage drinking and drinking in public, in the area around the music hall. It must have been like shooting fish in barrel. "We heard from other law enforcement agencies where the band has played, that some followers of the band may be participating in illegal activities, so we proactively provided a presence," said ABC spokesman, Philip Bogenberger, in an article in the Times Dispatch echoing similar stings authorities have conducted during the group’s recent tour (dubbed, “Operation Don’t Panic”) that resulted in 200 arrests (and an ecstasy overdose) during their performance in Pelham, Alabama and over 60 in Louisville, Kentucky. "What they did to me was totally uncool," said Jason Bartlett, 30, a spreadhead (the Widespread Panic equivalent of being a deadhead) and self-described ski bum from Colorado, who was arrested during the group’s concert in Alabama and spent 20 hours in jail before a friend posted bail for his misdemeanor marijuana arrest. "We don't want to lose our scene. We are trying not to lose our vibe, but we are definitely scared."
Well, dumbass, you should be scared. You better toughen up if you plan on being so stupid.
Beyond the plasma draining effects of jam band music, it’s because of sentiments like this is why I hate hippies. They are docile, easy targets for legal retribution rendered inert by their all-encompassing desire for obliteration. While I do think the drug war is a sham of biblical proportions, hippie’s quest for anesthetized states beguiles feeble minds unable to comprehend that huffing inhalants, binge drinking and illegal drug use in public might get you arrested. They are the poster children for the drug war.
I have no sympathy for you idiots. You got what you deserved.

This article unpacks the forgotten aspects of the land art movement with particular emphasis on the reintegration or realisation of visions of female artists that were otherwise disenfranchised in making their works by male discouragement and blatant disregard of the seriousness of female vision in the land and of art.
I wouldn’t say my work is Land Art mainly because I love to work indoors and the outdoor work perhaps links to other histories of outdoor sculpture (like Barbara Hepworth). Yet, land art is a way in which features of nature has come into art. Seen as the subject for many paintings in art history, the still life and the landscape genre have largely boxed in nature in the to perhaps the 18th century, but as the world became more and more globalised and cultures became more interlinked, the expanse of making with nature and practices of nature has influenced art greatly.
For me nature is a great way to look at systems of time. Specifically the season. By looking at life the operates in months rather than in days my practice links up far more with the mentral cycle of women and of those who identify as women with the movements and cycles of hormones (folic cycle, ovulating, me trashing etc). It is particularly interesting to note, that the phases of the ground and what happens on it changes significantly over a month (growth,deadheading flowers, soil composting at certain rates altered by the weather). So that month to month each phase of the season is unpacked and progresses in the landscape. Whereas the the sky operates much more in a day to day ratio, the sun signalling morning and the moon bringing the night.
Land art is important in my practice because as a movement it was an initial look into the cycles of nature.
Particularly my process of creating keepsakes (sentimental or significant emotionally totems of organic matter- dried flowers, leaves, stems, stamens etc) links to the outdoors the most greatly as work is taken from it’s outdoor environment and taken from outside in- to be preserved and cured through sun drying.
