A parallel theory between Tosca and PB
1. Grace/Floria Tosca:
Made a deal with her boss to save her lover, but be betrayed. Decided to stab/shoot him.
2. Inspector Campbell/Baron Scarpia:
Be in one-sided love with Grace/Tosca within desire and jealousy, finally be killed/hurt by her.
3. Thomas/Cavaradossi:
A protagonist's lover. Be at odds in Campbell/Scarpia.
Puccini’s Tosca | Peaky Blinders In this scene Floria Tosca (an opera singer) begs Baron Scarpia (the corrupt Chief of Police) to spare her lover’s life. He agrees on the condition that she gives herself to him. Once Scarpia has granted safe‑conduct for Tosca and her lover to escape from Rome, Tosca stabs him to death, just as he demands ‘payment’ from her.

More historical background for E Lucevan Le Stelle.
I wouldn't be surprised if Isolde is based on several actresses/opera singers from the time, specifically the french actress Sarah Bernhardt and the rumanian singer Hariclea Darcleé. The first one portraited La Tosca in 1887, which was written by the french dramaturge Victorien Sardou. The play was later adapted into an opera in 1900, where Darcleé became the first singer to take the role of La Tosca.
An interesting fact is how both performers and the character of La Tosca have been portrait by famous Art Noveau artists like Gustav Klimt, Adolfo Hohenstein or Alfons Mucha. Chapter 6 aesthetic is heavily based on the Vienna Secession style (which was VERY close to Art Noveau), particularly Klimt's work (he was the first president of the Secession after all).
And just to add one more thing: Dies Irae blasting near the end, in the 3rd Phase of the last boss battle, is hilarious because Giuseppe Verdi itself went to see the play on 1887, loved it, but refused to work in an opera adaptation because (*COF* like Marcus *COF*) "he didn't like the ending".

Marcus: Was he demonstrating the madness of passion? But the lines are clean. Perhaps the purity of eternity? No, the circles are too twisted for that... or was he just representing a primitive state of being? Hofmann: I don't understand any of that. So this must be art.
greta i love you you funny ass motherfucker never change
#certified storm moments#1.7 spoilers#marcus#greta hofmann#marcus even says she's funny after this. followed by greta confusedly saying 'i wasn't joking...?'#the way she delivers her lines is so dry i love her. that scene where she reads the synopsis of tosca out loud in the most dry droning#voice ever to the point even kakania tells her how did she manage to make the opera sound so boring when she was just excitedly#telling marcus and her about it moments ago lmao#she dgaf about the arts so badly lmao#reverse 1999
