Er schien mit Hans Reaktion nicht gerechten zu haben und wirkte zurückhaltend. Die Schulleiterin stellte sich zu dem Schüler und legte ihre Hand auf dessen Schuler. "Alles gut, Shane. Hier passiert niemandem was, Ok? Wir wollen alle Vero helfen. Sie doch auch, nicht wahr? Erzählen sie doch Veros Vater bitte was passiert ist. Alles was hilft, zu verstehen und die richtigen Lösungen zu finden ...". Miyu trat wieder zurück und sah Vero eindringlich an. "Sie können ja ergänzen, soweit sie schon in der Lage dazu sind. Und bitte ... es geht um mehr als nur sie beide!" Die Worte von Miyu ließen Hans aufhorchen. "Bitte, hören Sie alles in Ruhe bis zu Ende an. So unglaublich manches klingen mag. Die beiden haben nichts falsch gemacht, waren nur etwas verwirrt zur falschen Zeit am falschen Ort …" Zur falschen Zeit am falschen Ort., Hans dämmerte, worum es gehen könnte. Sein Blick wurde strenger und ruhte auf seiner Tochter. Die bemerkte sofort, dass ihr Vater wie man so schön sagte: not amused war. Ade Freiheit, ade OpenAir … hallo Hausarrest ... Shane senkte den Kopf. Er blickte zu Vero. So wie sich die Teenagerin benahm, konnte der Vampirjunge sich ausmalen, dass sie nicht wirklich viel über die Mutprobe in Forgotten Hollow erzählt hatte. Wie würde der Erwachsene reagieren, wenn Shane ihm beichtete, wie die Situation nun war? … Doch es half nichts. Der Druck von Miyu und die bereits gesagten Worte konnten das Ruder nicht mehr herumdrehen. Es war Zeit für eine aufrichtige Aussprache. Shane streifte missmutig die Kapuze ab und zeigte somit seine Ohren. "Ich hab Vero gebissen", gestand er traurig. "Tut mir Leid." Sein Blick verharrt auf den Boden. "Wir wollten ihre Erinnerung zurück holen, weil das geht wenn ein Vampir das Blut trinkt... aber ich... hab... vielleicht etwas falsch gemacht... drum ist Vero umgekippt. Aber wir wissen jetzt, dass ihr ein Werwolf begegnet ist." Nach diesen Worten sah Hans erst Shane, dann Miyu, dann seine Tochter an, die den Blick ihres Vater mied. Verstehe ... Er erhob sich. „Als nächstes wollt ihr mir alle weiß machen, dass es auch Einhörner oder Nixen gibt. ...“ Mit strenger und autoritärer Mimik sah er zu seiner Tochter. „Vero, wir gehen!“ Das Mädchen zuckte zusammen. S-c-h-e-i-ß-e … er ist verdammt sauer. Gehorsam stand sie auf und trat zur Tür. Hans wendete sich zur Schulleiterin. „Ich entschuldige mich, dass Ihnen meine Tochter solche Umstände bereitet hat.“ Zu dem Mitschüler sagte er: „Ich weiß nicht genau, was du angestellt hast, ehrlich gesagt interessiert mich dies auch nicht … aber das du Reue zeigst, sehe ich. Wir reden ein anderes Mal, wenn wir uns unter anderen Umständen wiedersehen.“ Mit einem kräftigen Händedruck auf Veros Schulter schob er diese voran. Vero sah zu Shane und sagte mit bebender Stimme: „Es tut mir Leid … Ich wollte nicht ...“ „Abmarsch!“, zischte Hans ihr zu und brachte sie so zum schweigen. Es schien, als wollte die Schulleiterin den aufgebrachten Vater von seinem Fortgehen abhalten. Dieser gab nur knapp und deutlich zu verstehen: „Das ist eine Angelegenheit, die i-c-h mit m-e-i-n-e-r Tochter a-l-l-e-i-n zu klären habe. Auf Wiedersehen!“ Unter den Augen der Mitschüler wurde Vero wie eine Strafgefangene von ihrem Vater abgeführt. Eine größere Demütigung gab es in ihrem jugendlichen Denken nicht. Die Türen des alten PKWs klatschten laut zu, als sie drinnen saßen und die Zwei das Schulgelände verließ. Vero sah aus der Auto-Fensterscheibe. Ihr traten Tränen in die Augen und sie begann zu schluchzen. Es ist alles meine Schuld … Verzeih mir … Shane ... Sie fuhren die Landstraße entlang. Nach einer Weile nahm Hans eine Abfahrt zu einem Parkplatz am Walde. In einer Haltebucht parkte er den Wagen und schaltete den Motor aus. „So, Fräulein … jetzt unterhalten wir uns mal!“

2. Totti’s by Merivale

The Royal has been an iconic watering hole in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs since 1907. Merivale reopened the hotel’s much-loved front bar in September, preserving the classic local as a place to grab a quick drink and game of pool, and just opened Totti’s last month.
