Chapter 4 I’m a professional, I promise.

Candy felt Alex go limp in her hand as she placed him in her pocket.

 He must’ve passed out from blood loss, she had to get him out of here now. She stood up slowly, inching carefully toward the door.

“Candace where are you going?”

Candy froze, trying to come up with a good excuse.

“I- uh, I- have to use the restroom, all this blood is gonna make me throw up.”

“Well make sure to come back ok?!” 

Candy didn’t bother answering, instead opting to walk out the door. 

The door shut behind her with a click, but she could see her teacher glaring at her from behind the glass. She flashed him a bright smile before turning and walking as fast as she could to the front doors of the school keeping her hand in her pocket so as to not jostle Alex.

She pushed open the doors with her free hand and looked out to make sure nobody was going to see her leaving. Not that it would matter anyway, kids could get away with anything at this school. 

Except for stealing a borrower. Candy was pretty sure she would get her ass kicked if she was caught doing this.

Once she had determined that no one was there she started speed walking so fast that she was practically jogging, only slowing down once she had crossed the street. 

She looked around, she was pretty sure she knew the way home from here. If she walked straight and then took a right…

She paused feeling Alex squirm in her hand. Fuck, he was probably still bleeding. She looked around for a place to hide, if someone caught her with a bleeding borrower she’d probably get arrested no questions asked.

 Her eyes stopped on an alleyway behind a store. There was a big trash bin blocking most of the entrance, and she couldn’t see any cameras. It was probably her best bet. 

She walked quickly, pausing at the entrance of the alley to make sure no one was watching her, before ducking behind the trash bin. As soon as she was out of sight she sat down and took Alex out of her pocket. 

She gasped when she saw him, he was covered in blood and still bleeding. What was she supposed to do?! He was gonna bleed out! She was panicking now.  She wasn’t prepared to deal with this. She tried to think logically. What’s the first step? What was the most important thing to do? 

She looked at the blood slowly pooling on her hand. Probably stop the bleeding dumbass. She thought to herself. But how? She looked around. Any fabric around here was probably really dirty, and she didn’t have a first aid kit. She guessed she could use her jacket but she would need to set Alex down so she could tear it into strips. She looked around for a safe place to put him before deciding that everything was too dirty and he would probably be safer in her lap. She whispered a quick apology before setting him down on her thigh. Alex stirred at this, moaning in pain. It took all of Candy’s willpower not to pick him up and comfort him.

Once she was sure he wasn’t gonna fall she took off her jacket, and after deciding it was too thick to rip into strips, took off her shirt as well. She put her jacket back on zipping it all the way up before tearing at the bottom of her shirt trying to make strips small enough to use on a borrower.

She picked Alex back up when she was done and pressed one of the strips to his chest. He groaned in pain and Candy shushed him gently, she didn’t want to hurt him but she also really didn’t want him to bleed out. She put a little more pressure on the cloth trying to stop the bleeding. She could see a little bit of red soaking through the fabric, so she grabbed another small piece and placed it on top of the already used one.  She stayed like that for a while, not daring to take her eyes off the borrower. Eventually, she figured that the bleeding must've slowed down so she picked up another strip of cloth. This time though, she wrapped it around his waist and chest, tying it tightly, but not too tightly.

 Alex didn't stir at all this time, it seemed like the excitement of the day had finally caught up to him.

 Candy watched the borrower's chest rise and fall in a sort of calming rhythm. He looked so delicate laying there, like if she made one wrong move, took one wrong breath, he might break. She sat there for a while. She hadn't realized it before but she had never held a borrower in her life. I mean sure she saw them regularly, they were about as common as redheads, but she had never gotten close enough to talk to one much less hold one. It was pretty amazing actually. Alex was just so small, he barley weighed anything. And seeing him sleeping like this, it really put into perspective how big she was, how much power she had. she was determined to use that power for good. But right now she really needed to get home. 

Carfully she stood up making sure she didn't jostle Alex too much before putting her hand in her pocket. She kept it flat so that his injuries wouldn't get bumped, but at least now he was out of sight. She would be in so much trouble if someone saw her 'kiddnappng' a borrower. 

Once she was sure that Alex would be safe she peeked out from behind the trash bin. There was no one there so she stepped away from the alley walking quickly toward her house. It occured to her that in order to get to her room she would have to get past her parents she guessed she could just say she had a lot of homwork. But her parents weren't the type to care about grades usless she was failing. Maybe she could say that her class was getting a prize or something. 

Candy shook her head realizing she was already at the front door. she checked the time on her phone, making sure that school was out before raising her hand to the wood. Here goes nothing.

She knocked.

Immediately she heard shuffling from inside followed by a loud "I'll get it." The door opened and her mother greeted her. 

"Oh, hey Girlagoo, hurry up and come in, it must be freezeing out there."

Candy stepped inside, eager to be out of the cold. It probably wasn't good for Alex either. She looked to her mother. "Thank you," 

She paused. 

"Why is your face covered in tomato sauce?"

Her mother touched her face like she had forgotten that it was dirty.

"Oh, that, well, I was making enchiladas and your mom, ever the gentlewoman, decided she wanted to help."

Candy nodded, she was used to her parents shenanigans.

"Is it edible at least?"

"Don't worry I managed. It's in the oven as we speak." 

"Oh thank god, I would never forgive you if you skipped enchilada friday. Could you call me when its done? I have homework to do."

"Course Girlagoo."

Candy said a quick thank you before rushing up the stairs to her room. Once there she brought Alex back out of her pocket. She looked around for something soft to set him on, eyes eventually landing on a small pillow. She set the pillow on her desk and carefully placed Alex on top of it. 

Once again she was hit with the fact that he was just so small. She crossed her arms on the desk , setting her chin on them and just watched him for a while. she could see the slow rise and fall of his chest, the small bit of stubble on his chin, and the way he winced even in his sleep. She really wanted to say sorry, but she didn't know if Alex would even talk to her when he woke up, if he woke up... 

No, she shouldn't think like that. He was gonna wake up, he was gonna be fine. She just had to take good care of him. He was only sleeping because of blood loss, his body needed to recuperate. Yes, he'd be fine, he'd wake up tomorrow and they'd talk things out and maybe Candy would make a new friend. Candy nodded to herself. she had a plan, now she just had to wait.

Ekko and Jinx's History: A Simple Comment

So I read something the other day talking about how fans are making Ekko and Jinx's relationship romantic and not all male and female characters HAVE to be romantically involved. I agree with this. I'll go so far as to say that this is true for any character of any gender. In my own writing (with my original characters) I rarely have romantic undertones. Mostly just friends being friends. While I get the allure of the romantic chase, of most people we deal with in life we aren't connecting to them romantically. Friends are friends.

That said, this is not the case with Ekko and Jinx. From Ekko's release in 2015 there has always been some romantic undertones with Jinx. Riot has always been a bit mysterious about what his relationship is with Jinx. Ekko even has a line in the game where he says:

The foundation had been laid long before Arcane was released in 2021.

Between 2015 and 2021 (when Arcane was released), a lot of official art and such dropped hints about SOMETHING going on between them. Much like Jinx being Vi's sister. You have to remember that this was originally a secret. It was Ghostcrawler who finally confirmed fan theories, even though he tried to walk it back later. Oops! Ha, ha!

To add to the mystery, on both of their official pages, Ekko is listed as connected to Jinx and Jinx is listed as connected to Ekko. However, at no point does Riot explain how they're connected. Their stories don't mention the other at all. So this means that some things were planned, but they weren't ready to reveal. I'm still of a mind that they were waiting to use Arcane as a vehicle to get into Jinx's history and how that intersected with Ekko and Vi. Before Arcane, we knew very little about Jinx and how she ends up the way she does.

Then, before Arcane came out we got this little nugget in Legends of Runeterra:

Remember, this is 100% from Riot themselves. Not the fans. Riot laid the seeds down and it was the fans who picked up on it and ran. I doubt anyone would have ever thought there was something between Ekko and Jinx without Riot dropping hints. By the time we got to Arcane Season 1, the train was already in motion.

Let's not even forget the insane number of Jinx references in the True Damage video they released in 2020. Generally it wasn't odd to see Ekko and there would be some sort of Jinx reference somewhere. That wasn't true for Jinx until recently.

After Arcane, Riot themselves has been dropping hints like crazy. Jinx has been putting Ekko's hourglass symbol on stuff. League Brazil did a huge Twitter AMA with Star Guardian Ekko and Jinx. Jinx goes to the Grammys with Ekko.

So...while I see people saying that the fans were to blame for Jinx and Ekko being romantically involved, it should be pointed out that this is all Riot's doing. The best part is that the fans have been largely receptive to their efforts in promoting the couple. Riot has waited a long time to be able to say what they want to say about them.

Sorry for the long post, but I thought it was important to point out that it's not the fans who set this up. It'll be interesting to see where this all goes, but based on their track record so far, it should be clear where the end game is headed.

Don't be sensitive! Just...tell us more- if you must."

Black Mask: Roman visibly slumped. "Of course you did." He muttered. "Well let's hear it then." He said rolling his eyes. "Actually don't tell me. You'll get ideas. We'll jinx it if we talk about it." "So...you don't want kids?" "I haven't thought about it recently but if it happens it happens. I'll just say oops and get on with it." Roman said gruffly.

Penguin: "You're so cute sometimes, you know that sweetheart?" Oswald chuckled under his breath. He seemed genuinely pleased by the thought himself, despite being rather undecided on how much he'd really want a child. The thought plagued his mind for the rest of the day after that. Children had never been a thought until now.

Scarecrow: Without hesitation, Jonathan replied. "How many?". "Two." You said softly. "Boys or girls?" He asked. "One of each." He scoffed in response. "Well that's definitely a dream. How many get to say they get a boy and a girl?" There was a long pause. "So was I good father?" He asked. You smiled slightly. "Yeah." Jonathan nodded once and continued to drink his coffee, completely unphased. "Maybe one. Depends how much I tolerate the first." You then choked on your coffee that he spoke of having children without hesitation.

JD 2025 Previews: Week 3

I'll be honest, i got spoiled on this song from the Just Dance Wiki (since some random store leaked this song)

I personally don't listen to Shakira, but i thought this map was good (I'm a sucker for pirate like characters so yeah-)

Idk if this is actually Shadow Rider (since the hair is very similar) I personally don't think it is but since the JD team has been reusing alot of coaches this game, it could be her but i don't want to jinx it

She just came out and i already have lore ideas for her (idk if i'll actually post it here lol, who knows though)

Another stop motion map! And this is a cute one!

For me, these kinds of maps are easier to dance too, so its nice to get an easier song after playing a few difficult ones lol

The coach is cute, and i love all the details in the background (another reason I love stop motion maps)

Don't got much to say, but i think this map is very cute, can't wait to play it!

This map seems very cute and fun! I love the coach's costume (she's giving off fairy vibes lol, she might aswell be a fairy since she's so small so)

The choreography seems fun, and i love the way they made the background seem bigger and making the coach smaller in comparison

Overall, this map is my favorite out of the previews, can't wait to see it all next month!

I honestly thought the detective mentioned in the Eva Chase lore short was Inspector Thomas Dance (from The Master Blaster) since he was the only detective coach at the time

I love her and Eva's relationship already (judging from the drawings in the background), it would be cool to see Eva actually appear maybe towards the end of the map (just to tease her lol)

This map is great

...i just have one criticise-

This is just me but...her outfit is hideous, there, i said it

I know this is a classic detective outfit, but i'm just not fond of the orange color scheme (i thought her outfit was gonna be purple when i saw the teaser post, mainly cause of the purple highlights)

I would just perfered if the JD team gave her a different color scheme, but that's not gonna happen

Overall, i like this map, i just don't like her outfit (idk if i'll get used to it in the future...)

Jennifer is back!

She got such a glow up! She looks amazing!

The background is also cool, i love how the ground moves below her (i do think it is a bit weird for a map like this, but i still like it)

Don't got much to say, but it's nice to get more lore on Woodcrown High School and the other students there (speaking off, can't wait to see Ari's map)

Basket Case didn't really deserve an alt, the original map was good enough (i wouldn't have mind for an extreme in my opinion)

Don't get me wrong, i love seeing accessible maps like this, i just don't think this song fits with the whole bathtub theme

I like the vibe of the coach i guess, but they could have given this alt a different song in my opinion

AND there you have it, for me, this preview list was kinda...meh (which is weird for me cuz i really didn't have much of a negative opinion on any previews from 2023 or 2024)

I guess i just don't get mych of the hype for these songs (the only songs i've heard were Poker Face, Unstoppable, Yeah!, Sleigh Ride, and Party In The U.S.A)

But despite that, i can't wait to see next weeks previews (hopefully a SKZ song pls🙏)

Arcane season 2 trailer

Oh wow I'm so excited by this trailer. Spiking adrenaline...I'm scurrying up walls like spider on meth 🤪

Some thoughts:

- it seems to me that Mel is alive (Yay!). Maybe hurt. Ambessa doesn't sound angry enough for death. Also fuck you Ambessa with your "wrath must be met with wrath". What about Piltover's wrath to Undercity over decades and centuries, huh? But you're a war mongering tryant (and textbook narcissist), you wouldn't recognise concepts of justice and fairness it they slapped you in the face. She's on the bottom of my Arcane's characters' likeability list for sure. I don't care that she has got impressive physique. I hate that they gave her place in the game (yes she's even below Marcus and Finn. At least they have decency to be dead).

- Cait being all decisive and competent 😎 But if she's leading attack on Undercity, what are those Noxian soldiers about? Does she work together with Ambessa? *shudder* I like Cait but I kinda want her to fail in all three objectives. Sorry pretty officer, but I'm on side of Zaun's revolution and independence from Piltover's boot. And you sending in enforcers doesn't seem in support of that.

- Vi looks terrible in enforcer uniform. Terrible. And she continues her trend from the very beginning of the series of contradicting her own words to Jinx. How long that "Nothing ever going to change that." held up, huh? A few days? A month? Normally I would give benefit of the doubt due to deceptive trailer's editing, but as I said, it's hardly the first time. When it comes to Jinx, one must take her every statement with a pound of salt. Especially positive ones... I hope I am wrong, tho. Let me be wrong, trailer is lying, and after a breather and time to think, Vi is better than in S1 act three in relating to Jinx.

- Ooh chembarons fighting directly? Yay? Singed under enforcers' gunpoint! I know he's terrible mad scientist but someone save him. Jinx? Sevika? Victor??

- I'm surprised how happy I am to see Sevika again! I always strongly disliked her attitude to Jinx (she was kinda Silco's crew Mylo) so I didn't mind when Jinx hurt her, but I really love to see her back to full strength and fighting for Zaun. Also I am excited for Warwick?!

- Ekko is there. that's it

- and last but definitely not least - JINX! Most important in fact! Every bit of/about Jinx is absolutely BRILLIANT. *rolles around in utter joy* I'm so happy to see her again! 🥰 They already managed to exceed my expectations for her in season 2 in this very trailer. Can you imagine what it'll be to see all they did through nine eps 🤯

From the top - Is that great statue head of Jinx behind chembarons!!!! Is she now their symbol/role model or maybe even some kind of leader!? is that her in hooded cape? Like in that s2 poster? I would love her in cape! She deserves cool cape!

That mural?! THE JINX MURAL!!!! 😍 It's Arcane's rendition of Liberty Leading the People, painting about French revolution! *explodes into fireworks of happiness* Our girl is so legendary that not one but two great works of art are referenced through her🥰 She is revolutionary for Zaun! Or the very least literally symbol of revolution. People behind her have all blue coloured hair. Possibility of Inxs or just sign of people's alignment/allegiance to her?

Despite all the turmoil, planning and fighting my favourite girl still has time for her art installations. Of course she has! Standing there on the pillar with Silco's face saying sarcastic line. (edit: oops it's monkey actually)That's pure theatre. She should really try hand in writing a dramatic play. I think pitch black comedy would be best bet. I wonder if she'll found out that Vi already said her name right before, when she grassed on her to Council. She looks so fierce fighting. Go Jinx go!!!

OKAY, so I've been going through the Helluva Boss tag after the last episode. Cause I need fuel DAMNIT.

And I have seen almost none of the hatedom yet, and it's like what 3 hours after the release. Which is very crazy to me, it feels very much like what happened with "Oops" where it wasn't till like the next day they came in.

What is happening y'all, all I'm seeing is good thing and I ADORE IT!!! Also I am so sorry if I jinxed it!

But I loved so much about this episode, all the way down to how Mammon got executed, like they make him at first seem kinda of cool and then immediately throw you with his assholenes!! Like I was worried cause how he looked in the teaser made him look kinda of cute (like, babygirl cute ya' know). But this was so good. I loved Fizz singing a song screaming "Fuck You" (very reminiscent of other songs "Fuck You" and "A B C D F U" (I think those are the names). And Mammon is so up his own ass, that even when Oz tells him it's about him, he still doesn't take the hint.

I loved the way Fizz just up and quit too, reminded me so much of Stolas yelling "We're getting a fucking divorce" and don't I LOVE THAT.

Also more Fizz and Oz please, please let them both be wingman to Stolas and Blitzo. Cause they need it.

Also I love the ASL bit, like Fizzaroli is disabled himself and that causes you to see camaraderie in others with disabilities. And it's just so wholesome, he's doing the clown thing cause he enjoys it, not for fame really (it might have started that way, but definitely got frustrating after a while), but seeing someone wholeheartedly think he's great (not in the weird way) and how he responds proves that.

Also love Blitzo is weirdly trying to keep his trap shut, like wow man. After the first encounter with Mammon he doesn't speak in his vicinity cause Fizz asked him not to.

Also the two klown sisters were awesome. Like even if they were kinda jerks, they absolutely deserve to win this competition, no hate to Fizz obviously (but he has won a bunch of time in a row, so someone else should get a shot). I want more of them. So God dang much

I feel like Sevika is so touched starved it's not even normal anymore. Like, she lives in Zaun. Most of her acquaintances are male, and she hates them. I guess she does go to the Brothel a lot but still, I feel like even that's not enough for her. What if she doesn't want to be the one pleasuring someone all the time? What If doing the same thing daily isn't enough for her? I just don't think she's content with how it goes there. Because I'd be pretty tired of the same outcome.

Sure, we don't exactly see her moping around all sad and shit, but I want to. I want to see Sevika feeling vulnerable. I want to see her when she's not okay. I want to watch a scene where she's at her most vulnerable, and just see what it's really like for her. We don't have enough backstory or background about her. I doubt her living in Zaun is all fucking rainbows and happiness. I'm not even complaining, I just want to see her. I understand she's more of a background character, but I don't feel that she is. The amount of people who really like her, and were just seeing snippets of her, really irks me. I want more.

Anyway, back to the point of my rant or whatever this started of as. I feel that she's not been given a lot of time and patience. So she's doing all her jobs, just to repeat the same cycle over and over. Is she happy? Is she safe? Does she feel wanted? I feel like she's taken for granted just because she's strong, she knows how to fight, and she knows how to get what she wants when she wants it. What about what she's lost? She lost her arm saving Silco. Vi ripped off her mechanical one and we still don't get to see or hear how it affected her. Again, I'm not complaining about it, I'm just trying to understand. Who does she have? Who has she lost? What's her favourite fucking food? Give me more oh my god. I want to see more of her in season 2.

I'm going off-topic again... but anyway, back to the topic of being touch starved. I don't think she fully understands what comfort means. I don't even think she knows what a hug is because she doesn't get them. She doesn't have the comfort like Jinx had from Silco. Or comfort like Vi has from Caitlyn. Vice Versa.

The point is, I just want more Sevika. I know she's portrayed as someone strong, independent, and not to be fucked around but, for the love of God give more moments of her vulnerability. She had ONE scene talking about her dad. I need more of it. I want to know what she was like growing up. I want to know what she enjoyed doing as a child. I want to see how she became the scariest woman in Zaun. What it's like being in her shoes.

All I fucking ask is that we get more Sevika in season 2.

Don't get me wrong, I love reading about Sevika being rough, angry, and scary but I need more of her being vulnerable. To be told it's okay to not feel okay. To understand that her being small isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign that's she's fucking human too.

And if you hate Sevika because of one of your many stupid reasons. Remember that she probably hates you too and you're too self centered.

This was the place people went to lose their dignity and sense of being before they died. The door squealed as Anax and Jinx stepped out of it, and Ayden paused to kneel next to Jesper. He murmured unevenly, “I'm sorry, Jesper.” “Yeah,” Jesper said without tone, and turned his head away, trying to catch his breath. There was a burning sensation in his neck. Ayden swallowed thickly and stood, scurrying out. The door came closed with a clang and Jinx locked it. Jesper dimly heard: “Don't cry for a bad influence, Ayden.” “I just don't like hurting people, Akuh.” “I know. You're a good boy. But it was for the best, I promise. Would I lie to you?” “No,” he mumbled, followed by a sniffle. “Come on, I have a few sweets stored in my quarters. Split them with me?” He didn't hear any response, but he did hear them climbing the ladder back onto the main deck. Jesper winced again, gasping a few times in an attempt to stop panting like a dog. Everything hurt but it felt like his hands were still on fire and were simply beyond damage. He was afraid to look, assuming he could even manoeuvre his body in a way that would allow him to. “Still my fault, Mart?” He managed, his voice cracking half way through “fault”. Mart's voice was shaky as well. Jesper vaguely remembered Mart mentioning his abilities included sensing other people's pain. Jesper would’ve felt bad, but he was positive the stimulation didn't compare. “Nothing warrants torture, Jesper. I would not even torture those men.” He stopped, then added, “But I would kill them.” Jesper's weak laugh was a choke and then a cough which only agitated his burnt skin more against his shirt and chains.

🍎 apple: let’s talk about friendship in your wip. do you have any favorite friend/platonic dynamics? any friendships gone sour?

Based on this post.

I was hoping someone would ask me about friendships because I have some definite favorites.

To not make this overly long because I do love creating deep friendships in my works where I can, I'm going to try and limit myself to my top three.

My absolute #1 favorite has to be from Their Sweet Omega.

Angel and Ransom's friendship is everything to both of them. They've known each other from childhood, having grown up with similar backgrounds. There's not much they won't do for each other. Angel actually manages to soften Ransom's rougher edges though he still maintains a lot of his normal canon mannerisms around others.

We're actually going to see a bit more about their friendship in a piece I'll be working on as soon as I wrap up another for the same universe. So, I don't want to spoil too much before I get to it.

My second favorite has to be from Bucky's Best Friend.

Nat and Bucky are really trying so hard to get their friends together in this one. Sure, they're going about it in the completely wrong way, but they truly have their best friends' interests in mind. Steve and Sweets don't have the best dating histories (especially Steve), and Nat and Bucky just want them happy.

I'm definitely hoping to write the rest of their story soon. Just keep getting waylaid by the verse above and other things.

My third (and final, I promise) has to be one we haven't seen yet, but I'll hopefully be debuting sometime soon.

It's in the same verse as Their Sweet Omega and His Scarred Omega.

The friendship between Curtis and Frank's reader (nicknamed Firecracker) shares some similarities with Angel and Ransom. They've been friends since high school rather than childhood.

Firecracker is a bit of a wild card, but she's got the best intentions. Curtis has a calming effect on her, but she also gives him chances to come out of his shell in ways others haven't let him. Like Angel and Ransom, there's not much they won't do for each other.

We'll definitely learn more about them soon as they both have their separate stories in this verse.
