"No no no- you don't understand!" Hero clung to their partner's clothes, half collapsed on the ground. "E-everything we've been told is a lie, the villains are in the right-"

Superhero sank to the floor with them, holding the side of their head. "Hero, Hero, hold on. Are you sick? You're sounding feverish-"

"I'm just fine!" Hero pulled away, shaking their head. In truth, they didn't feel good. World-shattering revelations did that to you. "Please, you have to believe me Superhero, everything the agency stands for-"

"Shhh, it's okay." Superhero put a hand to their forehead. "Look, I'll get you some water and some medicine, you're not doing okay."

"I'm fine!" Hero reiterated, standing abruptly. They paced away from Superhero. "The villains are right, they were always right, we've been doing all the wrong things, we're not helping the city, we're squashing any kind of rebellion that would actually be beneficial! We've been doing this all wrong for decades, we- we-"

Superhero pulled them into a hug, shushing them again. "Oh, you're burning up and rambling."

"I'm just-" Hero tried to break from their grasp, but Superhero didn't let them go. They struggled for a moment, hardly able to get an arm free. "Let me-"

"Hey, Hero, hold on a moment." Superhero kissed their forehead. "You're delirious and believing the lies of our enemies. You need to come lay down, I can't stand to see you like this."

"But Superhero-"

"Shhhhh." Superhero kissed their forehead again, a hand massaged in their hair. "Treat this like a weird dream, okay? Look- I'll get you something to help you sleep."

"I don't want to sleep, I need to figure this out- Superhero, you have to believe me-"

Suddenly, from nowhere, Superhero had a cup and was pressing it against Hero's lips. Hero drank instinctively, before pulling away, making a face. "Superhero, I need your help-"

"I am helping," Superhero told them as they pulled the cup away. "Just give it a minute, alright, Hero? You'll feel better. Let's get you to bed."

"But-" Hero blinked, their eyelids suddenly felt heavy. "But I was-" their head hurt, it felt as if the force of gravity had suddenly gotten stronger. "Superhero..."

"Shhhh," Superhero shushed them one last time, feeling Hero sag against them. Their head dropped against Superhero's shoulder, and suddenly, they were still.

Superhero hefted their partner in their arms, kissing their forehead once more. "Rest, love. You'll feel better and forget all about this in the morning."

For context I’ve been running a folk/gothic horror D&D campaign based on fairy tales, and the party will have to break into a toy store in the next village they come to as part of a quest from a hag.

The toy shop will be guarded by a one-legged sentient animated armor named Standfast, and when the party first meets them, they will be distracted and looking up at a window of a dressmaker’s shop, where a tailor will be working with a sewing mannequin.

And I can’t decide if I want to do something sweet and romantic or something silly and goofy, so I’m just going to put it to a vote:

Unfortunately my drawing program blurred a bunch of stuff when i merged all my layers together, so bazs entire body is just a little blurry, which saddens me greatly.
