Fade into you
Summary: this story is based off of the song Fade into you by Mazzy star!
Warnings:fluff (talk of beating)
It was a spring night and you and Joe attended your friend’s wedding! It was a beautiful venue outside filled with colorful flowers and hanging lights around the trees and tables and chairs for guests to sit at and of course a dance floor. You were wearing a beautiful dress. It has yellow, pink, and orange tied into it and fringes. (There is a pic of the bottom of this blurb)
You and joe were sitting down at your table talking with friends and having a good time laughing and drinking. Joe couldn’t stop staring at you. He was mesmerized by you. He loved everything about you. Your smile, your laugh, your beautiful body, and everything else that makes up who you are. You were laughing with one of your friends from across the table when you moved your hand from your lap to pick up your drink and have a sip. You noticed Joe staring at you as you picked up your delicious drink. “Do you want something, burrow?” You asked with a laugh. “No, just want to look at you!” He said also laughing. “Ok, well you do that.” You smirked. After a few minutes Joe stopped staring at you and engaged in conversation with you and your other friends. A song came on that you and Joe both loved! Fade into you by Mazzy Star. You and Joe both looked at each other and Joe said without hesitation. “Do you want to dance?” You smiled and said yes. You both got up and headed over to the dance floor with some other couples. You know Joe wasn’t really a big dancer or a big fan of PDA so when he held your hand and wrapped his arms around you once on that dance floor you got butterflies. You wrapped your arms at his neck and just stared into his beautiful ocean blue eyes.
After a few moments Joe said “you look gorgeous y/n, you always do.” He winked. You got a big smile on your face and said “why thank you, burrow!” You paused for a second and said “You don’t look to bad yourself!” Joe laughed and winked again. You laughed at his perfectly good wink. You guys sway for a few more minutes and then Joe speaks up again. “Listen y/n, I know it’s been hard for you these past couple weeks but I’m so glad you came with me.” You smiled and said “of course Joe, I wanted to come but I also wanted to spend some time with you! I know how much you wanted to come and be here.” You haven’t felt the best these past few weeks because of your anxiety. Your anxiety has been really bad these past couple weeks because you almost got attacked by someone on your walk. The person snuck into your private gated neighborhood somehow and tried looking for yours and joes house because he was a “fan”. You only got some bruises from some kicks and hands he threw at you. Thank goodness a couple who was also on a walk noticed and quickly ran over to get you to safety. An hour later police showed up and Joe was pissed. He hasn’t left your side since.
“I just want you to know it will be ok and I don’t want you to be scared. I will always be there to protect you. I should have gone on that walk with you instead of watching stupid game plays. It’s my fault I wasn’t there to protect you. I’m truly sorry.” Joe said with tears filling his eyes. “Joe don’t cry. It wasn’t your fault baby I got hurt and I don’t want you to think that,ok? And you have nothing to say sorry for.” You said as your eyes became glossy from holding back tears. “Let’s not talk about it right now. I want to be here with you, in this moment.” You said. “Haha! Ok.” Joe said back. “I love you Joe, thank you for always being there for me.” You say rubbing his neck. “I will always be there for you y/n, forever and always!” Joe says following with a kiss on the lips. You kiss him back and you guys fade into the night.
——————-
Authors note: ooooo I love some public y/n and Joe. I have been writing a lot so a lot of stuff will be coming your way!!🫶
(This is the dress I had in mind) but you guys can think about what ever you want to wear!🩷

LYYAH anon (I'm low-key getting tired of writing Liam yee yee ass haircut anon every time just to yap about romance HEHTJWNFJSJ)
After a good night's rest I have suddenly come to the realisation that my sorry ass needs a GAME PLAN. Deadass. So I'm just gonna yap this shit out pasensya na po 💔
Okay. Personally, I love saying I love you to them but after a recent conversation, I now know that they're not that comfortable with it. I still do wanna say I love you but without being too forward, so what im gonna do is I'm gonna pull up with 🤟 Rock On instead of I love you because the ILY signal from sign language means I love you but LOOKS like it's just the rock hands. I'm a GENIUS 🧠.
Next, their love language is gift giving, but they've stated before that they didn't want people to buy them anything unless they were already dating that person. So to compromise I've now recently come to the realisation that THEY NEVER SAID I COULDNT MAKE ANYTHING!! I'm going to make them stickers and a bat plushie for their birthday
And that's all I have for now once again thank you for being my "love diary" HTHJWFJ sorry for clogging up your asks with non tmf related stuff for the sake of this being tmf just imagine that this is like Liam speaking or something
ooooo you could also find ways to tell them "i love you" without saying the three words specifically. like things like "i'm glad you're here" or somethingg. BUT THE ILY IN SIGN LANGUAGE IS SO CLEVER OMGOMGOMG KINIKILIG NA KO SAINYO
also i love how ur just finding such genius ways to express your love for them without making them feel uncomfortable. it speaks volumes abt how ur really really trying for them nd i hope things go well between u two 😌😍 I ABSOLUTELY SUPPORT ND U SHOULD INVITE ME TO THE WEDDING HASJDHAJSDH
#i don't care that this isn't tmf related i'm lit here for you#kahit di best man/woman pwede painvite man lang sa weddinggg HDJASHDJASHD#liam yeeyee ass haircut anon#not a confession#freakblr

Noncommittal
I guess this is me getting somethings off my chest. I'm in my feelings and I'm SICK! Men are annoying LMFAOOO:(OOOOO.
Warnings: Angst
Relationship: Ex Boyfriend Erik x Reader (but y'all are talking... cuz... feelings...)
I was listening to You Don't Know by Tank feat. Wale while writing this. You can also listen to Kehlani's new album if you need a soundtrack lol.
You had no idea what plans God had made for you when this man walked into your life. It had to be some sick joke.
You met Erik five years ago, and dated eight months after knowing each other. He was perfect, your ideal partner that you weren't actively seeking. You even saw a future with him, a small wedding, and maybe a few kids, but it all came crashing down in an instant.
Broken communication and wandering eyes were the key factors in the end of what you thought was your future.
Baby ❤️: I'm just not feeling it anymore...
You couldn't count on your fingers how many times you read his text over and over again. He didn't even the balls to breakup with you in person.
The tears fell from your eyes, coating your phone screen in a slick layer. Constantly you wiped it with your sleeve, but more kept falling.
The devastation left you to leave him with a simple 'Okay'. Too broken to be mad, and for months, too sad to be optimistic.
You spent nights in bed, tears streaming down your cheeks. He was running through your mind from morning to night. Despite all your friends telling you to forget about him, it was hard to forget someone who had you smiling so hard that your cheeks started to hurt. Laughing so hard that tears would spill from your eyes.
But those were happy tears...
Now... These tear filled eyes were followed by headaches, heartache and snot.
Though Erik himself stayed off of social media, his new girlfriend surely didn't. Thanks to your best friend, the pretty brown skin with hazel eyes was now someone you stalked from time to time. Just to see his face... That smile that had you bending at will, his every command.
There were a few videos of them, at restaurants, the basketball court, and other places he would visit with you. Often times he would push the camera away when she aimed it at him, complaining about "the feds".
However there was one picture that made you itch. His head wasn't in the frame, but she had hers against his chest, manicured fingers sprawled across that brawny frame. The caption made it even worse: He's gonna put a ring on it 😘
Only if she knew that Erik didn't like commitment... That would've avoided the horrible remarks she made about him exactly two weeks after that last post.
You felt embarrassed for her, but at the same time you were happy that she wasn't with your m- With Erik.
A couple years later and you were back to yourself, not pressed or crying over Erik anymore. He wasn't running through your mind day to night.
It was all going great, you were even dating again. And just before you did enter a relationship with the date your sister set you up with, he came back.
A contact that shifted all the way to the bottom of your list had made its way back on top.
His number being the only thing showing, but you memorized it long ago.
Hey. Wyd?
You stared at the message, heart rate picking up and all the emotions flooding back in at once.
A simple question as that and you felt like you'd been ask to solve the hardest equation in the world.
Should I ignore it?
But of course you couldn't. Your heart wouldn't allow you to.
Getting ready to go on a date.
Petty always was the best way to go... However, it was true. Your date would be pulling up in the next thirty minutes to take you to an Italian restaurant.
When you getting back?
Again, you stared at the message baffled. What did it matter to him?
Idk.
And that was that.
Or so you thought.
"I don't know, the way that waitress was staring at you makes me feel like I have competition." You joked with your date, Rome, who just pulled into your driveway.
But the lights shining on the figure sitting on the steps of your front porch had the both of you quiet for a moment.
"Nah, maybe I'm the one who got competition." He said with a troubled tone.
"I... Rome, thank you for this. I'll call you later, okay?" You kissed him on the cheek and exited the car.
"You want me to come with you?"
"I'll be okay." You gave him a smile. He nodded and you waved him goodbye, watching as the car pulled out of the driveway.
Erik was staring at you, still seated. It was hard to see his face now that the headlights weren't shining anymore, and the porch light was off.
You walked closer, ready to remove your heels that threatened to toss you to the ground with a small misstep.
"Why are you here, Erik?"
"To see you."
"For what?"
"What you mean for what? I'm not allowed to see you?"
You stared at him incredulously.
"There's nothing to see..." You moved around him, but he caught your arm, staring your body down.
He would say otherwise. Erik kissed his teeth, irked that you had the audacity to step out the house in a slim fitting dress and high heels for another man.
"Nah, there's a lot to see, ma." He bit his bottom lip, gold slugs glowing in the dark. His eyes were drowned in lust, hypnotizing you as if nothing happened.
Things were never the same, even after you allowed him back into your life. You didn't take him back, you couldn't.
The fear of him breaking your heart, and the fear of the feelings you felt all those years ago terrified you. So all you could resort to was a situationship.
Admitted, it wasn't ideal for your future plans. You still wanted to get married and you still wanted children. Everything Erik didn't want back then.
However, one drunk night of FaceTime resulted in you promising to have his baby in the next few years. Was it a mistake?
At first, you believed that he didn't want to be in a relationship with you, but if there was one thing you could confirm, it was that he didn't want you to be boo'd up with anyone who wasn't him.
Until one day he made a suggestion.
"I think you need to be with me."
You stared at him, one eyebrow raised then looked away before speaking. "I really don't think that's a good idea, Erik." You couldn't look him in his eyes.
Of course you wanted him back, you were in love with him. No matter what he did, your heart couldn't let go of him. But you refused to be broken again.
"Why not?"
"Cuz I don't want to go through everything we did before. I can't."
After that, he didn't bring it up again.
Though you wanted him to, just to vent to him and get everything off your chest. But he wouldn't... So you were left with an active mind, which became even more active once he started showing up less.
Not a text, not a phone call.
Truly, you were exhausted. You were sick of him putting you in your feelings, just to go MIA and return at his own will.
It made you wonder if he even cared. Or were you just entertainment while other females weren't available?
You were a human with valid emotions.
No matter how much you cussed him in private, saying you were done with him, you knew it was lie.
He had you wrapped around his finger, because maybe fate decided that he was your soulmate. A twisted and sick joke made by the universe, tying you to this man who didn't know within himself what he wanted.
Maybe Prince Charming would be out there to save you one day, but for now... Erik Stevens had you under a spell that felt impossible to break.
I hope y'all enjoyed!
I been meaning to get this off my chest and into my diary (yes I have one), but I decided to write instead and of course due to story purposes I changed up quite a bit from my actual situation lol.
Thanks for reading!

Ooooo what about Simeon staying up late at night and MC is wondering what he is doing and it turns out that he is writing a whole bunch of stories to read to their daughter? :3
This is so cute, I wanted to write it since it popped into my inbox. But work makes it hard to do it on the sly sometimes.
Simeon x fem!reader.
Fluff may hint to some stuff but not graphic I promise.
Through the years you have grown to know Simeon, and learned to love him. It was always apparent that despite how much of a father or as he called himself a grandfather figure to Luke he was. He eventually would desire his own child. Ever since you two took care of the little demons. You noticed that bond stronger.
It took a long way to get to where you are, living in the human world, and with Simeon running Angel's Halo. He still found time to write TSL, but even after he had finished volumes, you noticed he would stay up extra later in a spare book he had. You never pried into it.
Not even when you had married him, and spent more nights with him by your side and finally engaging in everything you would whisper into a pillow next to each other.
There was never a dull night, and you soon found out you are pregnant. Simeon knew before you did, he knew the night it happened and waited for your body to accept the life. He is excited when you tell him, and he is instantly thinking for the future.
The beginning months were trial for you, getting use to the gentle fluttering that felt like a fish swam around your belly. The mornings you spent barely wanting to move, but you noticed how despite everything, Simeon still stayed up late to write in this book he had.
On an ultrasound, you find out the life inside is a girl. There you see the emotion Simeon finally has, that this is now his daughter. That evening at home was spent with more tenderness and love than your wedding night.
You had woken up and felt for warmth next to you only to know Simeon is writing again. You tug on his celestial cloak, he had given it to you to wear around the house as extra protection. You feel it warm despite sitting there for hours. It feels like your angel.
You find him at his desk, still dimly lit in the room, and press your face to the back of his head and nuzzle him. You had reached seven months, and showed well for a bump now.
"Little lamb, you should be resting?" Simeon lifts his head and you move yours to not accidentally smack heads together. You place a kiss on his forehead when it is visible.
"I woke up, and you weren't next to me." You explain, and Simeon leans back resting his face against the bump feeling the tiny movements in protest to being prodded or bumped. He even presses a kiss over the swell.
"Forgive me.. I had something in my head and wanted to write it while it was burning." He offers his usual smile, you could never be mad at him.
"Life of a writer, I know. What are you working on? I thought the recent book for TSL was complete." Simeon's face pinks up a little.
"Ohh? Is it naughty? Has my angel been writing stuff in secret?" He nudges you for that comment, and invites you to sit in his lap.
"I'm making some storybooks.. for our daughter. To read when she's older." Simeon sees your face light up at the mention, and shows you one of the stories.
"There was once a woman who came to stay in another world with seven demons. Each day she learned to love them in unique ways. Till one day she met two angels. They began as friends, and one of them was secretly her soulmate. Neither of them knew it until way later after alot of adventures together. They ended up going back to the woman's world and live there with these noisy demons sometimes, and the other angel. They got married and live a happy life. With lots of kisses to the angel."
You read over the story, and raise your gaze to Simeon, he looks at you hopeful and you only smile before pressing a kiss to him to complete the story for Simeon. He returns it happily, his fingers now rest on the bump searching for where their child is active at.
"I love it Simeon. I love you. I can't wait to read our story to her." Simeon looks up.
"I get to read it first." You see him grin in that one way.
"Only if you write me a story too. And come back to bed with me. I can't sleep without you tonight." He nods and lifts you into his arms after securing the book closed and his quill dried off.
"I think for you, I rather live the story than write it." Mischief in his voice.
"I like that idea too."

traveling with colin would include...
requested by: anon
a/n: wow, I finally finished writing something! anyway, this was a lot of fun to write, and I hope you enjoy! please don’t hesitate to let me know what you think! 💕
When Colin learned that traveling was something you were passionate about, he wholeheartedly considered proposing right then and there
Not many in the ton understood is affinity for trekking across the world and discovering all the things that resided just outside of ‘proper society’
However, as the season in London went on, you and Colin found yourselves growing closer and discovering intense feelings for one another
Before the season was over, Colin had proposed (with his and your family’s blessing), and preparations for the wedding began at once
The part you and Colin were most excited for was your honeymoon. Not because you would get to spend day and night wrapped in each other’s arms if you so wished (though that didn’t hurt), but because of your decision to take an extended honeymoon to travel across Europe
Both of you were fairly young, and felt no rush to settle down within in society, and so travelling was the best option
Before the two of you left, you would spend hours pouring over maps and journals of far away lands, deciding where you should visit first and what you would do in each city
When the day finally came for you to depart, you were so giddy, and Colin felt his heart soar as he took your hand - his wife- ready to see the world
The two of you traveled about and stood in awe of all the historic and beautiful sights before you
Colin definitely enjoyed getting to try all sorts of new food from each place you visited, while you tried everything along with him and got to know the people in lived in the towns and cities you came across
Everyday, Colin would dedicate time to write shut your experiences in his travel journal. He would also encourage you to do the same in the journal he gifted you the day you two left.
Somewhere along the way, you and Colin would stumble upon an artist you offered to draw the two of you together so you could remember your time abroad
Colin buying a flower for you in nearly every city you visit
The two of you would also take time to slow down and take long, romantic walks as you discussed everything and anything about what the future may have in store for you both
Picking out gifts for Colin’s siblings and their spouses/children would be an ordeal of its own
“No, Hyacinth always says she will fancy anything blue or white.”
Also buying things for your own home together so that you could bring a little piece of the world back home with you
When the two of you finally return home, there is a welcome back party thrown in your honor by Violet
There, you both share stories of everything you encountered and all the wonderful people that you met
Returning home might be a bit odd after so much time away, but Colin knew that being with you was always an adventure and that was all he needed

Kuroo in a wedding planner AU? Fluffy👀
ooooo wedding planner! this was another challenging au for me because i’ve neither read nor written anything for it before, but i had an idea that i want to try and put out for this! for this, i was swimming between the idea of going with friends to lovers or for an established relationship, but in the end i decided to go with the latter since it would give me more room to add the ending i wanted to make. writing this made me tear up a little bit? because it’s like, damn, thinking about being with someone who compares you to the stars and the entire galaxy, it’s so soft and utterly endearing? just the way our kuroo’s so in love with the reader makes me feel really warm, like i would need nothing else in the world if i had him with me. it’s hard to convey the feelings i have about it but i hope that while reading this, you’ll feel the same way! don’t be shy to tell me what you guys thought of it by the end, alright? i love to hear your thoughts and opinions 💕 with that being said, please enjoy reading!
AT AN ALTAR OF STARDUST ➽ TETSURO KUROO x READER
genre: fluff
au: wedding planner
warnings: none!
the scenery’s something straight out of a fantasy, he thinks.
fairy lights dangle from summer green trees, white lengths of cloth wrap around their trunks and tie together in elegant bows. the setting sun paints his world with orange fires that blend with gentle lavenders and deep blues, against which the stars dance on their faint lights. the sight of them is almost playful with the way they twinkle and fade, winking at him as if they bear secrets that they dangle tauntingly over his head, never for him to reach out for and grab between his fingers, never to taste their whispers against his yearning lips. they reel him in on stolen glances and teasing smiles, ones in which your eyes would glisten under the dying sun and show to him a vast galaxy, where laughter and joy orbit your entire being like planets, and you— you become the center of gravity, the giant star that burns so brilliantly like a ball of fire.
“so??” your energy vibrates all throughout your body as you clutch your hands to your chest, wide eyes searching kuroo’s expression for any hint of what he thinks of the venue you prepared. you’re always looking for his approval, so eager to hear his thoughts as if seeing his lips pull back into that familiar grin or the way his eyes show his admiration for the work you’ve done. and of course you would, kuroo considers: the both of you work together as a team after all. while you, as the wedding designer, handle the creative and aesthetic details, kuroo works as the planner, handling legal details, budgets and booking venues. it’s a combination that, between the two of you, works so seamlessly, what with the way the both of you could so easily connect with one another. it’s as if you could hear each other’s thoughts and count the beating of your hearts, understand every ‘thump, thump’ beneath your fingertips for the words you leave unsaid. “do you think the clients are gonna like it?”
the man pretends to think, lifting a hand to his chin as he scrutinizes the golden lanterns and the white and yellow roses decorating each table, the small glass orbs that sway so softly on a silent breeze, sounding like chiming bells and building on the fairytale ambience. and in the middle of it all, you stand smiling at him, your picture so radiant and breathtaking that, for a moment, kuroo willingly forgets that this wedding won’t be your own. he forgets that you won’t be the bride wearing white roses in her hair, won’t be dressed up in a beautiful gown. he forgets that he won’t be the man waiting for you at the altar, tears in his eyes as he watches you get closer and closer, until the both of you would say your ‘i do’s and bind your souls together for an eternity and more.
he wants that day to come more than anything.
“you always outdo yourself, hm?” he hums, grinning as your eyes light up under his approval. your smile is like a beacon under the setting sun, your eyes hold the secrets of the stars above and suddenly, you become the single most beautiful thing in his universe. you glow with the warmth of a heavenly flame and, like a moth, kuroo finds himself getting pulled further into you, wanting nothing more than to drown himself inside your all-consuming fire and give every part of himself to you. till the name tetsuro kuroo should vanish behind the blue curtains of your galaxy, till he’s made renewed with only the traces of your existence painted across his skin like ink, your name buried on his heart like a tattoo. when he looks at you, he feels himself melting into a pool of fallen stars, slipping between your fingers and leaving trails of purple and blue across your skin like paint. he wonders, is it the same for you? does the galaxy sing for you the way it does for him, does it tell you the secrets of his heart, how he whispers your name like a prayer for the moon to hear his voice? do the planets spin around him in orbit, do the heavens adorn his head with a crown of stardust and leave silver dots across his skin like freckles? when you look into his eyes, can you see the universe in them just as yours show to him the different solar systems beyond home?
he doesn’t know that when you look into his eyes, you see all that and so much more.
your eyes squint under your smile as you look back out at your hard work, turning your back to kuroo to admire the way the orange sun cast her final embers against the approaching night sky. as you feel tetsurou’s arms wrap around your waist, his chin resting atop your head, you melt into his hold and let out a satisfied hum. “i think seeing everyone enjoy themselves with what we did for them is my favourite part of our job,” you quietly confess, and as you admire the scenery, you feel kuroo’s heart beating against his chest, every rise and fall of his breaths soothing you like a familiar lullaby as you sink further into his hold. one of your hands comes up to caress his skin, your finger tracing his jawline as you turn your gaze to meet his; you see the milky way in honey gold pools. “do you think we’ll be able to have something like this one day?”
and oh, your poor heart, it flutters inside your chest and soars above silver clouds when he presses his lips against your forehead. it’s a simple and familiar sentiment, one that you’ve shared between stolen moments where the world stops spinning, when the wind sings your love and admiration on faded whispers between swaying leaves. you fall apart in kuroo’s arms, and, with every bit of devotion that he feels for you, he’s there to pull you back together. “i swear to you, baby,” he whispers against your skin, tracing the words with his lips so that they’ll paint the moon and stars and the planets above. “when it’s our time, i’ll give you the entire universe to hold.”
and he will. after all, you’ve given to him the galaxies, given to him a star to hold for every kiss you press against his lips, ever moment you spend loving him with all that you are. it’s only fair that he should give it all back to you.

=========================
“Engagement Of The Century: Casey Valentine and Bryce Lahela, Where Will The Celebrations Be Held?”
Ethan stared at his phone in shock as the headline glared back at him. He had just been on an amazing date the day before with Casey and today he’s waking up to find she’s engaged? The conversation around arranged marriage came flooding back to him but as he clicked on the article pulling it up, anger filled him. The main image burnt his eyes. There she was posing for the press with a tall man, honey toned skin and teeth whiter than the paper Ethan writes on. Both of them smiling and looking genuinely happy together. His inner voice was telling him to close the article but he couldn’t help it, he scrolled down and read on.
“The pair got engaged last Wednesday afternoon at a private family luncheon, reports say it was casual and low-key, everybody was surprised by the sudden proposal. Including Casey Valentine herself.”
Ethan scoffed as he scrolled past more pictures, muttering under his breath, “private luncheon my ass. We were together at that time.” He exhales deeply, reading on.
“Upon reaching out and asking for comments, Casey Valentine told the press that she is ‘thrilled and over the moon’ with the proposal. Further commenting, ‘I always wondered when it would happen. We’ve been dating for 3 years now, and after a while you start to doubt. But this was a pleasant surprise.’ before moving on to talk further about the family business.”
Letting out a frustrated growl, Ethan slammed his phone back on his desk and made his way to the kitchen to make breakfast before getting ready for work. As he walks through the main doors, he feels a sense of relief wash over him. It seems work is going to be the reprieve he had hoped for, but as he made his way to his office it became clear work was going to be far from a reprieve from the heart shattering news.
“I heard he made a five minute long speech.” One nurse gossiped.
“... ooooo. She’s a lucky woman if he stayed on bended knee for that long to make a speech.” Another swooned in reply
Ethan swallowed harshly, finally making it to his office and closing the door behind him, pressing his back to it as he exhaled with relief. Finally, a safe space. As he settled into his morning working through paperwork, he started to forget about the article. That was until his phone rang, Casey’s name lighting up the screen. He sighed as his jaw worked, it took everything he had in him not to pick up the phone. It rang 4 more times, each time not picking up getting easier. Words from her statement echoing in his head and battling with other thoughts. He zoned out as they got louder and louder until he snapped. He couldn’t take the voices anymore. He doesn’t condone the next actions he took as he opened his bottom drawer pulling out a glass and half drunk bottle of scotch, filling the glass.
Drinking on the job was something he never did, but he needed this glass, if he could lose himself in the alcohol and paperwork, it wouldn’t hurt. At least that’s what he told himself. But as he emptied the glass he realised his delusion. Then that one thought came rushing to the front of his mind.
This is why you don’t date.
The rest of the day passed painstakingly slow as Ethan worked through his 14 hour shift. When he could finally leave, his feet carried him down the road to the local watering hole of Donahue’s, where he drank scotch after scotch until last call when he stumbled outside to the nearest club. As the night went on he eventually ended up back at home, downing more scotch at his kitchen island before somehow making it to his bed and passing out.

The next morning, breakfast was as tense at the Valentine’s dinner table as it was the morning prior. Casey didn’t say a word to her parents, nor spare them a single glance. She sat, tablet next to her plate, stylus in hand as she tapped away, hard at work whilst she ate her toast and drank her water.
“Casey. Put the tablet away.” Her father sighed.
Casey ignored him raising a brow at the screen as she continued tapping away.
“I said. Put the table away.” He repeated, tone more annoyed. Yet Casey still chose to ignore him.
“PUT IT AWAY!” He shouts yet it falls on deaf ears to Casey. She doesn’t flinch, nor does she look up. It’s then her mother sees a tear fall onto the screen.
“Nigel dear, you should retreat to the parlor. Finish your breakfast there. I would like a word with Casey, alone.” Her mother speaks calmly.
With an agitated huff, Nigel collects his plate and storms out of the room. Once she is sure he’s gone, Casey’s mom speaks up.
“Casey, look at me, love.” She speaks kindly.
Forcing down her emotion, Casey shakes her head. “I am fine, mother. I’m sure this suitor will be just the thing to mend my broken heart.” she quips sarcastically.
“Cassie.” Her mother sighs.
“No.” Casey replies firmly. “You do not, get to call me that.”
“Casey!”
“No, mom. I’m sick of this. This is MY life! I should be able to date whoever I want. Not be promised away to someone I don’t know and may not even like!”
“You know it’s not that simple.”
“Isn’t it!? Because from where I’m standing, it pretty much seems that damn simple! But no, anytime I find a single sliver of happiness, you and dad have to rip it from under my feet. I was building a connection with Ethan. What chemistry we have is real, raw, beautiful. It has the potential to be great! I’m falling in love with him.” she animates, scoffing as she wipes at the tears. “But hey. Who am I to talk? You’re the one who has so much experience in loveless marriages so I should listen to you. Accept the same fate as you like a proper lady.”
“Casey Valentine.” her mother warns.
“Well no. I won’t accept the same fate as you. You’ve always said follow your intuition. Well my intuition is telling me that Ethan is who I’m meant to be with and-”
*SMACK*
Casey’s head reels to the side as her mother palm makes contact with her face, when she turns back her lip is split and she’s met with her mother’s steely glare. “Don’t be such an ungrateful bitch.” her mother spits, “Your father and I have poured years into this family business and building your image. And you want to ruin that by running off with some… doctor!?”
Still stunned into silence, Casey collects her things and marches towards the front door.
“Casey Marie Valentine, you get back here right now!” her mother demands.
“Why? So you can split the other side of my lip!” Casey shouts back as she grabs her keys, marching out the front door to her car.
“Casey!”
———————-
A few moments later Casey shakily raises her hand to an apartment door, knocking hesitantly. When she gets no answer she knocks again, but to no avail. She turns, walking away when the door opens and a familiar deep voice sounds behind her. Keeping her head down she turns around, tablet clutched to her chest.
“Hi.” she squeaks
“I thought you’d be…”
She shakes her head. Wiping away at a tear.
“Are… you okay?”
She shrugs before breaking down in the middle of the hallway.
“Hey. Come inside.” Ethan says softly, placing gentle arms around her and guiding her inside to the couch. The whole time Casey keeps her head down.
“You’re gonna hurt yourself keeping your neck like that.” he says
Casey shrugs.
“Casey…” he sighs sadly, lifting her head. A soft gasp leaves his throat as he sees her lip. “Who… was it him?”
She shakes her head. “It was… my… my mother.” she answers, choking on more sobs as they leave her throat.
As sadness washes over him, he pulls Casey to his chest, gently playing with her hair and rocking her soothingly as she sobs gut wrenchingly beside him.
An hour later, they’re in an exam room at Edenbrook as Ethan takes care of her lip, steadily stitching the split. As he ties and cuts the stitches, a knock sounds at the door.
“Excuse me.” He whispers with a soft smile.
Casey nods and sits back on the examination bed, unlocking the tablet and getting back to work as Ethan is called outside. When he returns 30 minutes later Casey is deep in her work and doesn’t notice his entry.
“Sorry about that.”
“Ah!” Casey screams, dropping her stylus.
“And now I’m sorry about that.” He chuckles, bending down to retrieve her stylus, handing it back to her. “Truly, I didn’t mean to startle you. Sorry.”
“It's okay.” Casey replies with the ghost of a smile.
Just then both of their phone’s ping and they share a look as they read the latest headline, Casey’s face going pale.
“UPDATE: Wedding of Boston’s playboy, Bryce Lahela to Golden Girl, Casey Valentine set for mid-fall this year.”
She drops her phone as she starts to shake. “No.” she whispers, struggling to get the words out as she spirals into a panic attack.
“NO!”

37: Is it easier to forgive or forget?
ooooo that’s a good and tough question. I think it’s easier to forgive. That being said, I would not say that I’m a forgiving person. Nor do I think it should be doled out easily, but I know forgiveness is a deeply personal matter. My whole philosophy on it is “even if you forgive, never forget.”

55: Are you mean?
Ha honestly yeah. Like 50% of the time I am sweet as pie [insert gif of John Mulaney quote “You could spill hot soup on me and I’d probably apologize to you”], but the other 50% is just utterly Bitch

61: Is it cute when a boy/girl calls you baby?
No I do not like it. “Babe” is great but never “baby” or worse “babygirl”

70: Is there anyone you would die for?
Oh totes. I’m pretty much ready to throw myself on the pyre at any time lmaoo
Thanks for asks, this was fun!!

The Post-Frozen II Dream You May or May Not Have Asked For
After seeing Frozen II again last weekend i had a dream about some potential events post-movie. This is my attempt at writing a more detailed story version of that dream based off my thread of tweets. It’s actually not as long as i thought it was gonna be and is in less detail than usual for me and while it differs slightly from my typical writing, for the most part it’s still pretty a pretty simplified idea. And just that - an idea. Not really any spoilers for the movie unless you count the subtle mentioning of how the movie ends with where Anna and Elsa are. And maybe one other brief scene. I can’t speak for how accurate the potential of this sequence even is let alone if i was true enough to any of the characters but here’s hoping you enjoy it! ❄️❄️
Autumn in Northuldra was so different from Arendelle. Arendellians had their own process of transitioning from summer to fall. Fashions changed. Decorations went up. But in Northuldra, before Elsa’s eyes she could see the season change. It was steadier. And, perhaps to the naked eye, the change could occur in the blink of an eye. But the Northuldra were in tune with nature; they could sense and see the little things. And slowly but surely, so could Elsa. The leaves began to change their hues and the breezes were beginning to return, slowly putting an end to summer’s humidity. It was relaxing. The peace that Elsa felt living in the forest could no longer compare to what it was like living in Arandelle.
“Enjoying the view?”
Elsa tilted her head, watching Yelena approach from behind. A soft smile crossed her face in response.
“As are many of my people,” Yelena commented. “Some still cannot believe the clear sky. I myself had almost forgotten what it looked like.”
“A lot has certainly changed in a year,” Elsa observed. “Oh! And I must thank you for helping to teach me the ways of the Northuldra. I know it’s been...a process.”
That wasn’t to say it as a negative; there were things that made both Arendelle and Northuldra unique. Still, once in a while something came up in which Elsa had to relearn. Something that was perhaps more prominent in Arendelle compared to Northuldra. Or that meant something completely different.
“It was also a process dealing with the soldiers for over thirty years,” the elder reminded her. “However that was during a time of darkness. There is no comparison.”
Elsa furrowed her brows slightly. “May...may I ask you something?”
To that, Yelena nodded.
“When we first arrived here, you nor the soldiers could stand the sight of each other. Yet when the Earth Giants came or the fire raged, it was the people that mattered rather than from where they hailed. Why was that, if there was such hatred?” she inquired.
“We have had our differences. And yes, the war has brought out the worst that we saw in each other,” Yelena acknowledged. “But in moments of crisis such as that, our goal was the same - to survive. For that brief moment our feelings did not matter. Because in nature there is no hatred. It does not dictate who thrives and who suffers because of who we are or where we come from. That, we determine on our own. The Northuldra work with nature; we try our best to remain in tune with it. And that is why we try to follow such thinking.” She gestured behind her, taking note of a pair of men with a reindeer. They were grooming it while occasionally stealing glances from each other. One appeared to say something, causing the other to laugh in response. “Nature knows no judgment, nor do the spirits. We may live as we desire, love as we desire. So long as our connection to the forest and the spirits remain in tact and we are respectful of them, as well as each other, that is all that matters.”
And yet no matter how short or long Elsa has referred to Northuldra as her home, the beauty of it and its people never ceased to amaze her. She could not help but bask in the moment, continuing to feel such acceptance in a way that had always seemed to be lacking in Arendelle.
The winds increased slightly, resulting in Elsa’s locks lifting from her shoulders. Blinking, she ran her fingers through them and then turned her head. A folded paper crane began descending in front of her. That could only mean one thing - Anna. Elsa’s smile grew; though they no longer resided together it seemed as though they were never truly apart.
“Thank you, Gale.”
She gently removed the note from Gale’s hold, allowing the spirit to continue on her way. Gently unfolding the sides, Elsa began reading.
“Anna and Kristoff are hosting a family dinner and game night,” she summarized. “It’s tomorrow night. I suppose they wanted to do something before the wedding planning became overwhelming. Anna says I should bring someone along; you are all family after all.”
“How thoughtful,” Yelena complimented. “You will leave in the morning, I presume?”
“Yes. And only for a couple of days,” she promised.
“Why don’t you invite Ryder and Honeymaren?” Yelena suggested.
“I would not ask Nokk to carry more than one other person. That would not be fair to it,” she answered. “Nor would it be fair for any one of the reindeer to leave you or their home even for a short amount of time. The next time they go, that everyone goes is, at least I believe, for Anna’s wedding.”
The leader nodded in understanding. “Very well. But, if memory serves, Anna and Kristoff got on nicely with the siblings. They might enjoy seeing one another again. I recommend at least asking. I believe Ryder is with a group of the reindeer.” Yelena turned to return to her people, rolling her eyes in the process. “After all, where else would he possibly be.”
---
“Ok. Ok. You can do this.”
“Of course you can.”
“Do you really think so?”
“I believe in you Ryder!”
“But what if I mess up? Again?”
“Maybe you’ll get her to laugh this time.”
Honeymaren shook her head. Watching her brother converse with the reindeer, especially in such ridiculous voices, was typically either entertaining or frustrating. In this particular case it was certainly the latter.
“Maybe you should quit while you’re behind,” she suggested.
Ryder scoffed. “No way! This time I’m really gonna follow through! Even Walter thinks so!”
Honeymaren sighed. “I’m not sure what’s more painful. The fact that that you actually think you have a chance with Elsa or that you named the reindeer Walter.”
He held up a finger. “Hey! Walter wanted something unique and different, ok? And at least he actually believes in me, unlike my own sister.”
“I’m just saying, all of these so-called grand gestures of yours either seem to go over Elsa’s head or they fail miserably,” she commented. “What about the time-”
“We don’t talk about that.”
“Or the time that-”
“Or that.”
“Or when you got your foot stuck in the-”
“Never speak of that again!”
To that, the reindeer rolled his eyes.
Honeymaren sighed. “You’re a romantic. You mean well. I get it. But with all the times you failed miserably beyond belief with every other woman you ever remotely came into contact with...”
“Appreciate the sugar coating,” he commented sarcastically.
Still, Honeymaren continued. “What makes you think you have any sort of chance with Elsa? She’s the fifth spirit. She’s incredible. She’s powerful. She’s caring. She’s a protector. Not to mention she’s beautiful...”
“Yeah, ok, I’m gonna stop you right there,” Ryder decided.
Honeymaren bit her tongue as if that would help fight off the blush that she was sure was rising to her cheeks. There was no way Ryder possibly caught on.... Could he?
“You obviously know nothing about the inner workings of women,” he scoffed.
Was that a relief or an insult?
“I think I know more than you,” she responded in attempt to brush it off.
Ryder sighed. “You only say that because you hang out with her so much. I don’t know how you do it. Whatever you say to her or do with her, it’s like when you guys get together there’s no one else.” He leaned against Walter in disappointment. “I just...wish that could be me, you know?”
Honeymaren bit her lip. He wasn’t wrong...she and Elsa did hang out a lot...they had gotten close...they enjoyed each others’ company...but did Ryder have to say it that way? Like it was such a bad thing? Like it meant nothing? Unless...it did mean something?
Fortunately, the sound of footsteps approaching would get both of them off the subject.
Honeymaren shook the feeling off. Whether Elsa was coming or not, it was the perfect opportunity to end this uncomfortable conversation. “Maybe this is your chance.”
“Yes! Let’s do it!” Ryder cheered. “Walter, get ready!”
Walter knelt down, allowing Ryder to climb on him. Signaling for Walter to remain steady, Ryder attempted to hold his balance. He wobbled a bit, as he opted to stand on his back rather than sit. Once Walter was standing straight up Ryder puffed out his chest. He cleared his throat, doing a few tests to make it sound deeper. He placed his hands on his hips as if to strike a power pose. He closed his eyes, seeming to embrace the feeling as well as the anticipation of his next action.
“Elsa! Wielder of ice! Oh powerful spirit! Protector of our land! Goddess of my heart!” he declared.
Honeymaren hit her head, closing her eyes in embarrassment. “Oh my god.”
“Please! Weill you do me the honor of going ooooo-ooooo-aaaaaaah!”
Midway through his question Walter knelt down and Ryder took a step forward. However instead of stepping forward as if to put on the guise of a pungent reindeer king, Ryder lost his balance. Specifically, he somehow tripped over one of Walter’s antlers. The action caused the reindeer to jump back in shock which, in turn, resulted in Ryder tumbling forward with a scream. He ended up sliding through the dirt head first, landing at Elsa’s feet. The Ice Queen took a step back, bringing her arms up towards her chest as a defense mechanism. Certainly an improvement over using ice first, in her opinion. She bit her lip, staring at her now unconscious friend. There was a pause before she allowed anything to escape her lips.
“Is he alright...?”
Honeymaren rose to her feet. “He has a thick skull. He’ll be fine.” She approached Elsa, though took a brief detour at Walter. She rubbed his head gently. “Keep an eye on him and don’t try that again.”
Wasn’t that obvious? Walter grunted in response.
“So what’s up?”
“I’ll be leaving for Arendelle in the morning for a few days. Anna wants to have a family dinner,” Elsa explained. She paused briefly before shrugging her shoulders. “She has also extended the invitation. Would you like to come?”
Honeymaren blinked. “Me?”
“Oh, only if you want to of course,” Elsa responded quickly.
“No...I mean, no, not no. Of course I...don’t want to...not come....” Honeymaren paused, pondering over her choice of words. That didn’t sound right. She shook her head. “What I mean to say is, I’d love to.”
However, shortly after she answered her face fell. Honeymaren’s gaze tilted down towards her brother, who was still out cold. She couldn’t do that to him...could she? No, probably not.
“But...are you sure you don’t want to ask Ryder?” she asked.
Elsa scoffed lightly, almost as if she were responding to a joke. “I don’t need another Kristoff around. One is plenty.”
“But Ryder does get along with him and Anna. Actually he...” Honeymaren scrunched her nose. “He seems to idolize Kristoff for some reason.”
Elsa giggled. “I know. I don’t understand it either. But I’d rather take you. So?”
Honeymaren bit her lip. She stole a glance away from Elsa and placed her hands behind her back. A break from Ryder...just the two of them....
“Then I guess I can’t say no.”
---
“ELSA ELSA ELSA ELSA ELSA!”
Anna’s excited screams echoed through the streets of Arendelle as she rushed to greet her sister. Her hands clasped her dress tightly, lifting it up just enough so her feet could pound against the cobble. Passersby nearly jumped out of the queen’s way to allow her through. Once in a while Anna did manage to get out a “hi” or “excuse me” to someone she ran past, but as soon as the question escaped her lips her eyes darted straight ahead to the water. Sure she could see Elsa on Nokk approaching she returned to excitedly screaming for her sister. Once Anna reached her, Elsa had barely descended from the water spirit before the sisters were reunited in a tight embrace.
“ELSA ELSA ELSA ELSA ELSA! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S BEEN SO LONG SINCE I’VE SEEN YOU I’M SO EXCITED I MISSED YOU!” Anna exclaimed.
Elsa giggled. “I missed you, too, sis.” She pulled out of the hug, though only slightly. “But it’s only been a couple of weeks.”
Anna blinked. “Wait, what? No! There’s no way it’s been that quick. It was definitely way more time than that. Are you sure?”
“I’m sure,” Elsa promised.
Anna bit her lip. “Huh....” She paused, eyes darting at the nearby surroundings before returning to Elsa. “Let’s never go that long again. Promise?”
“I promise,” she nodded. Elsa turned to Nokk, gently rubbing its snout. “Thank you for the ride. Keep an eye on everyone.”
With a soft neigh, the water spirit liquidized and galloped back into the water, slowly descending into its depths.
Honeymaren exhaled. “That was everything I imagined it would be.”
Anna excitedly grabbed her arm. “What was it like, riding a water horse? Or was it an ice horse? Or is it both? Was it wet? Cold? Magical? Dreamy?”
“What about riding me?”
The deep voice could have only belonged to Sven - or rather, Kristoff speaking for Sven. The two finally reached the women, Sven wasting no time in rubbing his snout against Anna followed by a petting from Elsa while Kristoff took a moment to catch his breath.
“You know...you could’ve just, I don’t know, waited? For me to get Sven? Instead of rushing ahead like that,” Kristoff said. He exhaled, toying with his shirt collar. “Man is it hot out here?”
“Sorry Kristoff,” Anna apologized innocently. “I just couldn’t wait to see my sister again.”
He narrowed his gaze. “Yeah, never would’ve guessed that.”
“Nice to see you, too, Kristoff,” Elsa stated.
“I’m sorry,” he said. He climbed down from Sven and, once Elsa opened her arms, he gave her a hug. “Hi Elsa.” He followed the same suit with Honeymaren. “Good to see you again Honeymaren.” He then stepped back and went to hug a third person - only to nearly fall into the water in front of him. “Hey Ry....WHOA!” He stumbled briefly, waving his arms in attempt to regain his balance. He managed to bend his body back just enough to allow one foot flat on the solid ground. “Where’s Ryder?”
“He’s back home,” Honeymaren answered.
“Wait he’s where?” Kristoff’s face fell. He looked to his fiancee. “I thought you told Elsa she could bring anyone.”
“I did,” Anna nodded.
“But then where’s Ryder?”
“He’s not here.”
“So he wasn’t invited.”
“I don’t make the rules.”
“Who’s fault is that?”
Honeymaren sighed. “I should’ve fought more for him to come.”
“No, I made the choice who to invite,” Elsa replied.
“It’s fine. We’re all going to have a great time!” Anna promised. “Oh, you have to see what Oaken did with his shop! He remodeled, got new inventory, his family all started working there with him, oh and last week he told the funniest story! We have so much to catch up on while you’re here!” Squealing with glee, she led Elsa and Honeymaren towards the castle. Once again, Kristoff and Sven were left behind.
Sven let out a moan.
“I know,” Kristoff pet his friend’s head, “I miss him, too.”
“It was just so nice to have someone who understood me,” Sven replied.
“Yeah I...” Kristoff started but cut himself off. “Oh, and I don’t?”
---
“And the Snowgies are still working on repairing that barn window!” Anna laughed. “Sometimes I think they just end up falling asleep there. One of the stable boys was afraid he stepped in something no one wants to step in!” She quickly straightened her posture and then lifted her fork to continue eating. Anna may have still been quirky as ever, but she was still the queen. “True story.”
“I knew you would be perfect for Arendelle. I could have never made it this lively,” Elsa complimented.
“Yeah but we knew you would protect us from anything when you were queen,” Anna stated. “I could never do that.”
“Being queen isn’t all about being protective or in charge. Sometimes it’s just giving people hope. You do that every day,” Elsa assured her.
Anna’s smile grew. “Really?”
Elsa shrugged. “You did that for me every day when I was here. I was able to rule for as long as I did because I had you by my side.”
Anna’s hands jumped to her face. “Awwww Elsa!” she squeaked.
Beside her, Kristoff sniffled. He picked up his napkin and rubbed his eyes. “I promised I wouldn’t cry at dinner. It was just so sweet.”
“Aw, you’re so sweet,” Anna grinned, pecking his cheek. She sat back up in her chair. “Are there family game nights in Northuldra, too?”
“We’ve tried a few nights,” Honeymaren admitted, “but truth be told there are moments were many of us forget we’re not trapped anymore. So there’s still the expectation of the Earth Giants attacking.”
“Oh no! I’m so sorry!” Anna gasped. “I didn’t realize...”
“It’s fine,” Honeymaren assured her. “Some changes just still take some getting used to.”
“Is there anything we can do to make you feel more at home while you’re here?” Anna wondered.
“You’re letting me share this with you. That’s plenty for tonight,” she answered.
“But you are going to let me win at Charades, right?” Kristoff asked hopefully. “I mean let’s face it, with Olaf visiting Marshmallow and the Snowgies I’m at a horrible disadvantage.”
“Serves you right for letting Olaf rearrange,” Anna commented. Her gaze returned to her sister, who was delicately moving part of her salad onto her fork before indulging. It really was almost as if Elsa had never left. The way she was when she entered the castle again it was exactly like old times. Almost too much so. The way she remained poised. How she spoke so politely or elegantly, at times almost softly. The way she carried herself, almost as if she had so much to prove with all of Arendelle relying on her. The way her braid rested on her shoulder....
Wait.
Anna blinked. She hadn’t realized until now. The last time they saw each other, when it was just the two of them, Elsa kept her hair down. The way she had since becoming the fifth spirit. Why did she change it?
“Oh, Elsa...”
Elsa’s blue pools reached up and across the table. “Yes?”
“Your hair...”
“Is there something wrong?” Her hand reached up, gently caressing her braid.
“No, not at all. Just that....” What was a good way to word this? Was there a good way to word this? She didn’t want her to feel self conscious. Still though, it was almost like...like looking at a past Elsa. The Elsa that kept to herself. The Elsa that had so much to live up to. The Elsa that was still learning to control her powers. The Elsa that was Queen of Arendelle. “You...you can let your hair down.... I mean if you wanted to, of course. But it...it suits you.”
Elsa’s hand moved down, towards the bottom of her hair where the final knot was tied. “Thank you. I suppose it’s....” She stopped, furrowing her brows in the process. It was almost as if she, too, was unable to find the correct words. Ultimately, she shook it off. “Alright then.” She gently untied the bottom knot, her touch light as she began to undo the ones that followed. A few later, Elsa looked to Honeymaren. “Could you? Please...?”
“Oh...sure,” she nodded, a bit taken aback. Shifting her seat back slightly, Honeymaren turned her body so she was facing Elsa’s back. Almost as delicately as Elsa undid the first knots, Honeymaren began untangling the rest. And in front of her Elsa sat with her eyes closed, still poised as always, and yet almost at ease.
Anna watched the interaction between the two of them. She tilted her head, eyes following Honeymaren’s motions. How she was careful not to pull too hard. How she gently caressed Elsa’s blonde locks after undoing them. How her eyes were glued to them, focusing on every inch, every detail, every motion. Almost like she was taking in the moment to last. And not once during any of that did Elsa flinch. The woman who was once so guarded, who kept herself so apart from everyone else, who was once even nervous to hug her own sister. She, too, was at ease. When was the last time Anna had seen Elsa like that? Was there a time where anyone had ever seen Elsa like that? Let alone with anyone? She raised an eyebrow, thinking back. But nothing came to her. That is, until....
“OOOOOOOOOOOOH!”
Elsa’s head darted to Anna immediately with wide eyes. The action caused Honeymaren to let go of Elsa’s hair and jerk back. Even Kristoff stared at his fiancee wide eyed, holding his hands up in defense and dropping his fork.
“Anna what’s wrong?” Elsa gasped.
“Nothing,” the redhead squeaked.
And though her voice implied one thing, most likely a lie, her wide lit up eyes spoke nothing short of pure delight.
“But you’re making that face,” Elsa observed.
“What face?”
“The one that you do when...”
“I don’t make a face.”
“Yes, your excited face that...”
“No don’t have that.”
“Oh how does Olaf describe it...?”
Kristoff raised an eyebrow. “Like she’s about to explode because she has to go to the bathroom so bad?”
There was a moment of silence.
Then Elsa scrunched her nose. “Yes...that’s the one.”
“Nope don’t know what you’re talking about hey Kristoff can I see you in the other room for a sec kay thanks let’s go we’ll be right back!” Anna breathed out as fast as she could. She grabbed Kristoff’s arm, pulled him out of his chair and dragged him out of the dining hall. Once they were in the next room, enough out of eyesight and earshot, Anna began excitedly jumping up and down.
“Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!”
“Uhh....” the blond stared at the queen, taking in her sudden burst of glee. “Can you...maybe...stop making that face?”
Anna folded her arms, narrowing her gaze. “Ok first of all, I do not make a face like that and you also said my face is adorable no matter what. Now that we’ve got that covered....” Letting out another squeal, she tightened her grip on Kristoff’s arm. “OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE THAT?”
“See what?” he shrugged.
“THAT! Them! Her!” she exclaimed.
“I don’t follow,” he shook his head.
Anna exhaled. “Ok maybe you haven’t noticed because it has been a while, but Elsa NEVER lets anyone gets close to her.”
“Uh yeah, I knew that,” Kristoff replied as-a-matter-of-factly. “She has to be the one to initiate for anything. Why do you think I always wait for her first? As much I love ice, I don’t want her to actually make me ice.”
“Ok yeah, fine, she has to be comfortable enough around someone to even want to invite them,” she acknowledged. “But do you know what this means? Elsa is comfortable! With another person!”
Kristoff raised an eyebrow. “And....?”
Anna groaned. “Kristoff you don’t understand Elsa like I do. She doesn’t let anyone get close to her. No one really ever stood a chance of being anything to her. And now, just now, she was sitting in there, in that dining hall, asking someone else to touch her hair and actually letting her do it! No reaction. No nerves. No hesitation. No...no.... Nothing!”
“Are you jealous?” he smirked.
Anna furrowed her brows. “What? No. Of course not! It’s just....” Her eyes wandered back in the direction of the dining hall. “I know this is going to sound crazy but...I think...I think maybe Elsa likes her. And...I don’t know, maybe...maybe Honeymaren does, too.”
Kristoff stared at her blankly. There was a lull. He gave no other reaction save for standing in front of her like a statue, arms folded and empty stare.
“So what are you, like a love expert now?” he asked half joking.
Anna grinned proudly. “Yes. Yes I am.”
He moaned. “Have you been hanging with my friends again?”
“Yes but that’s not the point,” she brushed him off. “The point is, I know my sister better than anyone. I’m the only one she lets come close to her. No restrictions. No hesitations. No questions. I’m there and she...she just lets me. And I think....” Cautiously, she poked her head around the corner hoping to even for a moment steal a glance at them. It didn’t look like they were saying anything, at least not verbally. But Honeymaren did look to her side at Elsa. However when Elsa reached for her glass of water, her brown eyes darted back to her food. And for a brief moment, one that should have lasted longer, Elsa seemed to gaze at Honeymaren from the corner or her own eye. “I think Elsa should have that with someone else, too.”
Kristoff’s face softened. He gently placed a hand on Anna’s shoulder, turning her back to face him. He meant no ill will nor to seem like he didn’t believe Anna. That much she could see in his face. But there was still doubt. Why should there be when Anna had to be right?
“Look, I’m not trying to put you down. I would never. And I know you mean well and that you’d do anything for Elsa. She’s the most important person to you. I know that, I accept that, and I would never question it,” he explained. Pausing, he softly exhaled. “I just don’t want you to get your hopes up is all. Your intentions may be out of love, but that doesn’t mean they’re what Elsa wants or needs. Or that it’s true.”
Anna smiled softly. She knew she could count on Kristoff to tell it to her like it was. He trusted her and he believed her. He just didn’t see everything from her perspective, and sometimes Anna needed that. And it was ok.
She placed her hand over his, giving it a light squeeze. “I know. And that’s why...” her tone quickly shifted from loving to confident, “I am going to talk to my sister!”
To that, Kristoff chuckled. “Yeah, since that worked out so well the first time.”
---
Before anyone knew it, the time for playing games as a family passed and it was time for bed. Elsa retreated to the room she once called hers. She took in all of her surroundings; nothing seemed to change at all. It was just as she had left it. Without a doubt, Anna had kept it exactly as it was for when Elsa visited. Though, the bed sheets were not completely made. Elsa covered her mouth, holding in a faint laugh. Of course Anna must have slept in Elsa’s bed once in a while. It was as close as they could get to each other without being under the same roof. But then, at the same time, it also relaxed Elsa. It meant that no matter how far apart they were, they were still sisters. They would always have something of each others’. Be a part of each other.
Stepping quietly towards the vanity, Elsa picked up her hairbrush. She ran it lightly through her hair, softly singing the song of the north in the process.
Aaaaah aaaaah
Aaaah aaaaah
The doorknob turned. Elsa’s body shifted, one hand lifting but releasing no ice. Anna poked her head inside.
“Am I interrupting?”
Elsa exhaled. She should have known. “Of course not.” She set her brush down as Anna walked in, holding something close in her arms.
“I brought you something.” Holding out her arms, Anna revealed Iduna’s scarf. The fabric unfolded slightly as Anna presented it, yet still it appeared as though little time had passed. Its condition had barely shifted since the passing.
“Mother’s scarf....” Elsa breathed.
Anna nodded. “It’s your turn to have it.”
Elsa shook her head. “Oh no, I couldn’t.”
“Yes you could. You can and you will. I want you to have it,” she replied.
“Anna I really can’t,” she insisted.
“Yes you can. No exchanges. No refunds. No take backs. This is yours to hold onto until I have a baby and then I get to pass this down and wrap her or him or them in it so they can always have a piece of Mother,” Anna said. She blinked. “Oh wow, what if I have a them?”
“Anna...”
“Sorry, getting ahead of myself.”
“It’s not that.”
“Oh good because I’m so not ready for a them!”
“About the scarf-”
“You should absolutely have it.”
“But I can’t take it from you.”
“It’s both of ours to give and take.”
“That may be so. But....” Elsa stepped closer. She placed her hands on the fabric and then gently pushed it back towards her sister. “This is all we have left of Mother. I’m reminded of her every day in Northuldra. It was her home. Where she came from. It was a part of her and now a part of us. I want you to be able to have her, too.”
“I do. Because I have you,” Anna promised. “You’re part of her. And I love you for that. For you.”
Leave it to Anna to always know the right thing to say. Even when they were kept apart, not once had Elsa felt a judging glance from Anna behind her back. When Elsa’s powers were revealed Anna showed no fear; she never once thought ill of Elsa. There was immediate acceptance. And there had been love, support, and admiration ever since.
But that couldn’t be all there was.
“This isn’t just about the scarf is it?”
Anna shook her head. She sat at the edge of the bed, patting the empty space next to her. Elsa obliged and sat beside her sister. “You were a gift to Mother and Father. And to me, because you got to be my big sister. And everything you did was for them. For me. You kept yourself away from us to protect us, because you never wanted to hurt us. You’ve spent so much time trying to be who you thought they wanted or needed you to be for Arendelle. Because it’s their home, our home. What it means. You’ve tried your best to stand for everything they believed in, to keep their traditions going. You’re the fifth spirit of the Enchanted Forest! You’re the bridge between us and the other spirits so basically you’re like the sworn protector of everything and everyone in it! You do so much for everyone around you. I just want you to be happy.”
“I am happy,” she assured her. Elsa reached across, placing her hand on Anna’s. “I have you. Believing in me, encouraging me, and standing by me every step of the way. You are a gift to me, too, Anna. Because there was once a time when I feared we would never have this.”
Anna squeezed her sister’s hand. “But you don’t just have me anymore. It doesn’t just have to be me. You can let anyone else in, anyone that you want.”
As well as Anna meant, she didn’t understand. But then again, much as she tried or wanted to, she would probably never fully understand.
“It’s easier said than done. Not everyone looks at me the way that you do.”
Anna shrugged. “I...think I know of at least one other person.”
Elsa tilted her head. There was only one Anna. “Who?”
“Oh...you know....” Anna’s tone increasingly became more sly with each description. “Long, thick, brown hair. Usually in a braid. Doesn’t like to fight. Has a brother that talks to and for reindeer.”
Elsa blinked. There was only one person like that who could possibly fit the description. “Honeymaren?” But where did Anna get an idea like that? Where was any of this coming from? It wasn’t like Elsa had said or done anything. She never lead her on. She didn’t recall ever seeing such a look from her. Unless...had Elsa been giving off a vibe? One that she didn’t even realize? Just because they enjoyed each others’ company? Because they spent so much time together? Because when she was around her, Elsa was never the snow queen or the fifth spirit; she was just...Elsa. “I.... I’m not sure I understand. When...? How...?” She could almost feel her heart rate increasing, her powers reacting in response to her emotions. Elsa tried to think back; to something, to anything, that she could have missed. Had she even been that way with anyone else before? What did it mean? Was she...? Could she...? What if she was thinking too much into it? That had to be it. There was no chance that any other way would work let alone be allowed.... Would there? After all Elsa spent so much time alone; isolated from the people she cared about most. Maybe it no longer had to be that way but.... But what if on some level that’s how it had to be? How could she....?
But as quickly as the fear and nerves rose, they sunk. Any ice that was ready t stem from her hand practically melted away. Her powers calmed. Because there beside her was still Anna. Squeezing her hand. Supporting her. Loving her.
“You don’t have to be scared of letting someone else in,” Anna said softly. “You’ve spent your whole life doing what’s best for everyone else. You’re allowed to do something for you now.”
Elsa shook her head. “It is not that simple. Everything I knew growing up, so much of it I’ve had to unlearn. There are times where I have to remind myself not to shut you out. Some things are easier said than done.”
“But you have a choice now,” Anna said. “And if you’re not gonna say it then I will. You can’t possibly choose worse than Hans.”
“Oh!” Elsa gasped, covering her mouth with her free hand as if it would stop a laugh.
“See, I knew that’d get you,” Anna teased.
“Yes, that’s exactly why I’ve avoided men,” Elsa commented half sarcastically.
Though it was debatable if her statement was true or not, what Anna said was true - she knew exactly how to bring a smile to her sister’s face. But if only it were so simple to explain to Anna what a difference it was. How Anna made a choice with the best of intentions while Elsa’s decisions were out of fear. And though it could have been interpreted as coming from a positive place, it was also from a selfish one. Though Elsa wanted to protect those that meant the most to her, she also chose to allow her fears to consume her rather than letting others lift her up. It brought her to a place of darkness, one that she at times still fought against. As quickly as the Hans came and went, Anna rose with both Elsa and Kristoff. It was not the same. Perhaps there was a simpler way to show Anna.
Moving her hand and holding it out in front of her, Elsa began twisting her fingers. A few flurries began to fall, ultimately creating scenes with snow. The first was Elsa’s battle against the Wesleton minions at her ice palace. “Remember when my powers were first revealed? This is what they caused. People reacted from fear. They had never seen my magic before; and because I could not control it nor did they understand it, I was unwelcome. As the Queen of Arendelle, even as an Arendellian. Rather, I was a monster.”
The next scene she created was one she saw at Ahtohallan, from the water’s memories. The snow showed silhouettes of King Runeard and one of the soldiers, specifically when he was explaining the meaning of his so-called gift. “Grandfather himself even stated that people who trust magic, who use it, who wield or support it in anyway, are a danger and cannot be trusted. That was why the war began. He could not accept what was different from what he knew, because he did not understand. What people don’t understand, they fear.”
Anna squinted, taking in the flashbacks. It was almost unbelievable that they were even real events because they were from so long ago. But then, Anna was also the kind of person who didn’t have a bad bone in her body. How could she accept, even knowing the facts, that these were true?
“I don’t get it. That was the past. That was....” She shook her head. “But if people can accept magic now then what would be so wrong or weird about accepting you with someone? Anyone?”
“Some people are closed-minded. It’s how they are,” Elsa sighed.
“Is it like that in Northuldra?” Anna wondered.
Elsa reversed the movement of her fingers, forming a miniature Enchanted Forest in her palm. Within the miniature snowy trees there were faint hints of the other spirits as well as a few humans. “Yelena described part of their culture as following that of nature. Nature does not judge. The primary rule may be survival. But as long as the people respect nature, respect the land and the creatures in it, then we are free to live and love as we desire.”
“But Arendelle...” Anna started.
“Stands for many positive things,” she acknowledged. Elsa closed her palm, causing the snow to disappear into thin air. “But it is also a place where, if one does not ask then one does not tell. It’s like with my powers. People didn’t ask, so they weren’t told.”
The confused look on Anna’s face remained. “But....” She shook her head. “But I can change that. I can make it a rule that everyone can decide for themselves. They can say or show or do whatever they want. As long as they represent everything good that Arendelle stands for, as long as they’re not hurting anyone then why should what they do or look like or love matter?”
Elsa smiled softly, admiring her sister’s good intentions. “If only it were that easy.” Exhaling, she looked away. “But a rule does not change how people think. Not everyone would be accepting.”
Anna reached over, taking Elsa’s other hand. “They accepted you as their queen once. They still welcome you here with open arms. If they can accept you for your magic and love and admire you the way I do, then it won’t matter who you’re with or not with. You don’t have to live by our rules or for anyone. Just yourself. Whatever that is.” She then wrapped her arms around her sister, squeezing her in a tight hug. “You’re still the most incredible person I know. I love you.”
Elsa smiled, returning the embrace. Once again Anna was there for her when she needed her. Whatever it meant for Elsa, at least she had the most important person in her corner.
“What would I do without you? I love you, too, sis.”
---
What time was it?
Late.
And no matter what Honeymaren did, she couldn’t seem to get to sleep. Not that it should be a surprise. She was so used to sleeping outside, at least in some capacity. Even when the sky was covered somehow she always felt it above her. She knew that somewhere, deep in that mist, it was there. She just couldn’t get that same feeling in Arendelle. She felt...blocked, in a way.
But she was invited there. How would it look if she showed any discomfort? Acted as ungrateful for the invitation? She was welcomed with open arms. Some reaction.
Maybe she needed to wander. Tire herself out some more. Then it wouldn’t matter where she slept. So Honeymaren quietly exited the bedroom. She glanced briefly back and forth down the halls. No one appeared to be up. She hoped they wouldn’t mind her exploring.
It was huge. There were so many decorations, so many things, so many portraits.... Eventually Honeymaren found herself stopping in front of a pair. One of a young Anna and Elsa with their parents, and the one beside it representing the sisters, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf. Honeymaren took in the latter first. Everyone looked so happy. At peace. Even if, for that brief moment in time, there was nothing wrong with the world. They were together. Then there was the former. It represented simpler times. It was before everything became so...how did Anna describe it once...? Crazy?
Honeymaren’s eyes followed up the portrait, starting with Anna whose eyes led her to Elsa, then to King Agnarr, and finally Queen Iduna. Her gaze stood.
Iduna of Northuldra.
What must that have been like, Honeymaren wondered? For Iduna to have escaped the trapping and ending up in Arendelle? Secretly living all that time as one of them? Being separated from her people? From nature? Learning to be someone completely different?
But she wasn’t, not really. Because she and Agnarr fell in love. He knew that she hailed from Northuldra. That their people had become enemies. That there’d been no interaction between them for so long. Yet he still chose her. But in the end she had to hide who she really was. From her people. From her own daughters. Was that how Elsa felt for so long as well? Knowing she was so different but could never truly speak out about it? Always having to fear for fitting in? For acceptance? Truly neither Elsa nor Iduna should have experienced such a pain.
“Hi.”
The soft whisper came from out of nowhere. Honeymaren gasped quietly before turning to her right and seeing Elsa. Honeymaren exhaled.
“I’m sorry. Did I wake you?”
“I’m alright,” Elsa promised. “What about you?”
“I couldn’t sleep,” she admitted. “I hope you don’t mind; I was just looking around.”
“Not at all,” Elsa said.
The two returned their gazes toward the portraits. Neither spoke another word. There was complete silence. But it was comfortable. Though there were a couple of instances in which Honeymaren wondered if she should say anything, she didn’t want to break it. Still, she pondered what could be going on in Elsa’s head. Did she maybe want to speak as well? What was there for either of them to say? But then again, were words even necessary? It was just the two of them. Nothing else mattered or even existed.
Eventually, however, the silence was broken.
“Come with me,” Elsa encouraged. She began down the hallway, and Honeymaren trailed behind her. They retreated into Elsa’s room. Honeymaren carefully closed the door behind her as to not wake anyone else. Elsa approached the door leading towards the balcony. After unlocking it, she opened the doors wide. A gentle breeze blew into the room. There was the faintest chill to it. Was that because it was so late? Or was it for another reason?
“I hope this helps,” Elsa spoke, “so you don’t feel cut off from the outside at all.”
“I’m sorry you have to go through the trouble,” she apologized. “Imagine if you brought Ryder instead. You wouldn’t have to worry about him at all. He would be completely amazed by everything here.” She then bit her tongue, “Of course then he wouldn’t shut up about it so you probably wouldn’t get any sleep.”
Elsa scoffed softly. “This is no trouble at all. Besides,” she sat on her bed and leaned her back against the soft pillows, “then we wouldn’t be able to continue our own family night traditions.”
Honeymaren folded her arms. “You really think I’m going to fall asleep just like that because you sing?”
“Why not? It works every other time,” Elsa shrugged.
Honeymaren shook her head, but obliged and sat next to Elsa. “I don’t know if I would exactly call it a family night tradition though. It’s not game night like you and Anna have.”
“No...but it has helped me,” the blonde confessed. “When I first settled in Northuldra it took a while for me to get comfortable and fall asleep. Then you sang the lullaby to me. And it made me think about my family. I felt connected to both my homes. And it’s been working ever since.”
“That doesn’t mean I fall for it every time,” Honeymaren stated.
Elsa gave her the faintest of smirks. “It worked well the other night.”
Honeymaren blushed and averted her gaze. “Well then...I guess we could give it a try....” She turned her stare back to Elsa, though her eyes moved down towards her shoulder. “May I...?”
Elsa nodded. Honeymaren waited for her to straighten her posture into a more comfortable position before tilting her head. She was sure she felt a slight flinch from her before making full contact, though that was no surprise. It was just like the first few times they did this. But as Honeymaren fully pressed her head against Elsa’s shoulder, she could feel it lighting and sinking slightly with every breath. Elsa was at ease. And so was Honeymaren. The brunette closed her eyes and focused on Elsa’s beautiful voice.
Where the north wind meets the sea
There’s a river full of memory
Sleep my darling, safe and sound
For in this river all is found
This must have been what Elsa meant. To feel out of place and far from the place she called home for so long, but there was this one thing that reminded her of both. The song that came from Northuldra, but the song that also gave her memories from the happier times of her childhood in Arendelle.
In her waters deep and true
Lie the answers and a path for you
Dive down deep into her sound
But not too far or you’ll be drowned
Seriously what was it with the dark, depressing warnings in lullabies?
Yes she will sing to those who’ll hear
And in her song all magic flows
But can you brave what you most fear?
Can you face what the river knows?
It really did remind Honeymaren of Northuldra. She could imagine herself gazing up at the sky. Watching the leaves blow through the wind. Eyes following the stars twinkling in the night sky. The soft ground beneath her, admittedly, with the occasional rocks or pebbles against her. Though her eyes were closed, she could feel the walls of the castle dropping. She concentrated on the wind. Maybe that was what was brushing up against her hand. Except it was warm. Welcoming. Protective.
And before she knew it, Honeymaren drifted off into a deep slumber.
---
Elsa’s fingers gently clasped the blanket beneath her. Her brows furrowed at the heat of the sun escaping into her room. It must have been morning. But she didn’t want to get up; at least not yet. She was so comfortable. Maybe it was being in her room...?
No. She had felt like this in the morning before, few if any at all from her time in Arendelle. This was a more recent sensation, something that was still a bit new to her. One that she didn’t want to shake. Why was that?
Elsa’s eyes fluttered. She squinted, adjusting to the sudden light. Across the room she could see her balcony. Standing there, staring out into the distance was Honeymaren. The first person she saw in the morning.
Elsa turned onto her back, focusing on the ceiling. Another good, sound sleep. She felt calm. Relaxed. Refreshed. She always did after nights like that. But it couldn’t have possibly been because of moments like that. Just because the two of them confided in each other, talked to each other, sang to each other. Anna had to have been so far off in her assumption.
But....
She placed her hand over her heart. It was steady. There were no nerves. No fear. No discomfort. Anna was the only other person who could make Elsa feel such a way. After all, who could she possibly have a stronger connection with than her own sister? Anna was the most important person to her. No one could ever take that place. No one understood or knew Elsa better than Anna.
Huh.
No one understood or knew Elsa better than Anna.
Did Anna see something that Elsa didn’t? Pick up on something? Notice anything at all? Elsa was so guarded; at times she continued to be. Was it possible that she had let someone else in without even realizing? But Anna was also an optimist. And a bit of a romantic. Was she simply overcompensating? Looking into something that might not even be there so that when Anna eventually started her own family Elsa would also have someone? Or was it because Anna balanced her out? She was able to see what Elsa couldn’t? What Elsa closed herself off to for so long to the point where she truly wouldn’t be able to recognize something right in front of her?
She turned her head, focus returning to Honeymaren. What would I do without you, she couldn’t help but think.
It was a thought that so often crossed her mind with Anna. She had just asked her that last night. It was the first time Elsa allowed herself to ask that of someone else. To realize that, at least to some extent, she had opened her heart to someone. Someone that now she couldn’t picture her life without.
Sitting up, Elsa tucked a few locks behind her ear. She stepped lightly towards the balcony, ultimately leaning forward on the banister. She kept some distance between her and Honeymaren if, for no other reason, because of the wind blowing through Elsa’s hair. She didn’t want it to hit Honeymaren.
“Good morning.”
“Oh...morning,” Honeymaren responded almost suddenly. She must have not heard Elsa approaching. “I got up with the sun. Force of habit.”
“I know that feeling,” she nodded in agreement. Elsa ran a hand through her hair. She proceeded to lift her other one, ready to tie her hair back into a braid, or even a ponytail. Then she stopped. She no longer had to present in a particular way. She didn’t have to keep a face nor represent the kingdom. She wasn’t someone who had to stand so poised, put together, and to an extent, stiff. She could be free.
Free as whoever she desired. Whether it was as the fifth spirit or simply as Elsa.
Realizing that, she released her hair to the wind and placed her hands back on the banister. “Did you sleep well?”
Honeymaren scoffed. “Are you asking permission to say ‘I told you so’?”
Elsa raised an eyebrow, fighting back a smirk.
At the unspoken response, Honeymaren let out a laugh. “Ok, fine. You were right. It worked, just like always.”
“Now I will say I told you so,” Elsa commented. Her head tilted, implying she was looking out towards Arendelle. However, the corner of her eyes was still on Honeymaren. Watching her stand so still. Probably basking in the breeze. Feeling the heat of the sun against her cheeks. Her bangs flapping gently against her forehead. Yet she didn’t lift a finger to even try to stop or fix them. What must that have been like, to not play with her hair? Had anyone ever...?
“Actually I was wondering...”
Honeymaren’s sudden inquiry caused Elsa’s grasp to tighten on the banister. She let out a faint gasp. The next thing she knew, she had frozen part of the railing. Icicles sprang from it, attaching Elsa’s hands in the process. That...almost never happened.
“Oh!”
“I’m sorry...”
“It’s alright.”
“I didn’t mean to...”
“I’ve got it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I just need to...”
“Is there anything I can...”
“No, I got it.”
Elsa managed to pull her hands out, cracking off a few pieces of ice in the process. She took a small step back, rubbing her hands. It was just a sudden burst of nerves, she told herself, you didn’t expect her to speak suddenly.
“I’m sorry. I surprised you,” Honeymaren apologized.
“It’s nothing I can’t handle,” Elsa replied. “It’s not like the cold bothers me anyway.”
Not like anything suddenly became awkward at all.
“So...you were about to say something?”
Honeymaren blinked and shook her head. “Right.... I...I didn’t just get up to see the sun rise. Or because of habit. I was also thinking. About last night. The lullaby.”
Elsa blinked. Was it different because they were in Arendelle? Did she sing off key? Did it really not help Honeymaren sleep better? Many other questions ran through Elsa’s mind. Why could she possibly want to talk about that right now? Today of all days?
There were likely a few responses Elsa could have conjured. Yet somehow the only one that seemed to escape her lips was, “Oh...?”
Honeymaren’s look softened. Her teeth clenched lightly. She was hesitant to continue. Was she fearful of hurting Elsa’s feelings? It wasn’t like she was going to suddenly launch a burst of ice because of her increasingly powerful emotions which almost completely dictated how strong her powers were as well as the way they were used in the first place.
Again.
She had control of them now.
Complete control.
She was fine.
“I just...I think...I mean, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now....” She looked at Elsa apologetically before closing her eyes. “I don’t think we should do that anymore.”
There was a heaviness in the Snow Queen’s chest. “Is...is everything alright? Was it something I did? Or said?”
“No. No, nothing like that at all. You...you’re amazing,” Honeymaren promised.
Elsa attempted to ignore the heat she felt in her cheeks.
“I just...” Honeymaren paused, biting her tongue. “I need to tell you something...”
Elsa’s heart pounded. She needed to tell her something. That sounded an awful like a confession. Was this...? Was she going to...? Was Anna right?
“Is everything alright...?” she asked hesitantly.
“Yes...? I think so....”
That didn’t sound very encouraging. It came across more as...conflicted. But there was no way she was going to say what Anna thought she was going to say. There was no way.
Unless Anna was right. And Honeymaren wasn’t sure if she should say anything. She must have thought Elsa wouldn’t respond. Or might, but negatively.
“I’m actually not completely sure if I should be saying this...but I think you should know,” Honeymaren admitted. She took a long, deep breath, leaving Elsa waiting in anticipation. “Ryder’s in love with you.”
Elsa’s head jerked back. Her arms went up in front of her. Her nose scrunched. She stared with almost a complete blank gaze. What did Honeymaren just say?
“I’m sorry.... What?”
Now it was Honeymaren’s turn to be confused. “Ryder’s in love with you...?” she repeated, though that time it sounded more of a question than a confession.
Elsa blinked. A long pause ensued.
“Since when?”
Honeymaren tilted her head. “You mean you had absolutely no idea?”
“No. No!” Elsa gasped. “Why would I?”
“He’s only been trying to impress you with these grand gestures for the better part of the year,” she explained.
“What gestures?” Elsa asked.
Her friend scoffed. “Where should I start?”
Apparently with the obvious ones?
Instead Elsa merely shrugged.
“Well there was that one time he rode in on one of the reindeer with a huge flower crown to present to you but you sneezed snow onto him, freezing him and the reindeer in place. He claimed he couldn’t feel his fingers for a week.”
“I only sneezed on him because I was getting over a cold. I had no idea he was doing anything.”
“He tried to invite you on a magical reindeer ride complete with a blanket on the reindeer for you that was supposed to remind you of your mother’s which would lead you to a sunset picnic on one of the ledges.”
“Why would I ride on a reindeer when I ride with Nokk?”
“He created a whole musical number involving multiple voices for almost all of the reindeer each describing something he loves about you and was only trying to serenade you with it at dinner.”
“That was singing?”
“The last time you came back after seeing the Earth Giants he welcomed you with a spectacle of tricks he spent two weeks training his reindeer for. But he ended up tripping, getting knocked down by one of their butts, falling into a bush and ended up scratching every part of him like a monkey for the next week.”
“I thought he was training to be a clown.”
“Then there was time he got his foot stuck in the-”
“No need to finish that sentence.”
Honeymaren held her hands up, waving them back and forth. “Ok wait, so you’re telling me that every single attempt Ryder made to impress you you just thought he was being a clown?”
Elsa bit her lower lip. How should she ask this without coming across as ill intentioned? “Wasn’t he...?”
Honeymaren paused.
“Ok, yes, he can definitely be a clown,” she admitted with a laugh.
“It’s just that everything he does with the reindeer...” Elsa started.
“Screams clowning?” she finished.
Elsa covered her mouth, attempting and failing to hold back her own laughter. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. You’re not wrong,” Honeymaren assured her, laughter slowly fading. She let out a breath, taking another pause. She appeared ready to open her mouth to speak again.
But Elsa got the chance first, albeit with confusion in her tone. “But then...why would that make us stop what we do? The....” What was a proper word? “...Tradition?”
Honeymaren rubbed her arm. “Sometimes it just felt like...like I was betraying him, in a way. I saw how hard he was trying for you and...and I didn’t say or do anything. I just took up all of your time with us. What we do. I...I guess I liked having that time with you to myself.”
The admission brought a blush to Elsa’s cheeks. “I like it, too,” she confessed softly.
Now it was Honeymaren’t turn to blush.
And for that brief moment, despite how much they both wanted to, they couldn’t seem to make eye contact.
“And it’s...it’s not. A betrayal,” Elsa spoke. “You’re not being disloyal to Ryder. You’re not taking any time away from me that I’d rather spend elsewhere. There’s nothing wrong with us doing our thing together. Or anything together. It’s just....” What was a good word? How could Elsa remotely describe the sensation? Not even just the nights where she or Honeymaren couldn’t sleep? The time they spent together? The connection they had?
Huh.
The connection.
Them.
Together.
“....Us.”
That time, the two of them were able to make eye contact. It remained brief yet somehow felt like hours.
Finally, Honeymaren’s shoulders dropped in comfort as she exhaled. “So...you...don’t...like Ryder....?”
For the first time since returning to Arendelle, Elsa was asked a question she could easily answer.
“No.”
She glanced at Honeymaren softly and then made her way back towards her room. However, when she reached the door, she stopped. ‘No.’ Somehow that answer didn’t seem like enough. It was only part of the answer. Elsa took a moment, recalling what Anna had said to her the night before.
She can let anyone else in.
She can do something for herself.
She had a choice.
There was nothing wrong with who she was.
She didn’t have to live by anyone else’s rules or standards; just her own.
Finally, she recalled the latest lesson she learned from Yelena.
That everyone is allowed to live and love as they desire.
Maybe Elsa still wasn’t entirely sure of what that meant. If she couldn’t see for herself, if she still needed Anna to interpret for her, how could Elsa openly admit to something - her own feelings - beyond a shadow of a doubt? How could she undoubtedly fully give her all, anything and everything that she was, to someone else?
Despite all that, she was sure of two things. She was sure that she felt something. That Anna may have still been the most important person in her life, but she didn’t have to be the only one. That she was slowly but surely letting someone else share that title.
And that was why she was so certain of her correction. Or, rather a declaration. And why she was able to turn on her heel and face Honeymaren with such a confident stare. As their gazes met one final time, Elsa flashed her a coy smile and raised an eyebrow. Even if she was questioning anything else, if she still had anything else to learn about herself, there was one thing she could say with such assurance, ease, and just a hint of sass.
“I do not like men.”

(BTS) Golden Lover: Chapter 4
Namjoon x Black!Reader
High Fantasy, Magic, spells, gods and goddesses
Mstrlst in bio!
Everyone was dressed up for the festival today. The stage had been built and tested all day yesterday. You, Jimin, and Hoseok were dressed in the traditional wear of both your cultures. What you wore was a stylized hanbok as did they. The word felt fun on your tongue. Hanbok. The fabric was heavier than you had expected, but you’d change into your regular celebratory clothing soon after the performance.
It was a stunning display of flexibility and skill from the three of you. Every once in a while there would be a collective “ooooo” or “ahhhh” from the audience. Bare feet moved to every perfect rhythm and every beat. You smiled with every turn and every leap. Your heart started to pound with the drums. Then it was over with a solid pose, a grin, and heavy breathing.
There was applause as the three of you bowed. That was just the opening of the festival, so your father announced in his regalia that it had officially begun after all the ritual rites had been completed. There hadn’t been much joy in the kingdom for what has felt like years.
Your hair had been taken down from their twisted state and had shrunk to its usual size. You put on your more free flowing outfit and your crown which featured cat ears. Your people tended to call you by your middle name, and you smiled at them as they did. Even as your eyes searched for one prince in particular.
They had all dressed so nicely today. Of course they would have.
“Princess!” An overactive voice called you. Prince Jin bowed. “May I have the honor of spending this evening with you?”
“Maybe not the whole evening, but you shall have my attention for the next hour. I have an important decision to make.”
He smiled, “Then I hope to be a part of it.” The oldest prince offered you his arm.
Jin took you to a stall where the two of you were served large mahshi alongside koshary. The two of you shared the meal while he described each bite in detail. He told you about the Korean dishes these would go great with and that he would love to make it for you sometime, perhaps have it served at your wedding.
“Wedding. Jin--” You started.
He looked up at you with cheeks full and an eager glint in his eyes. You had to tell him the truth.
“Prince Seokjin, my heart is not with you. I refuse to marry someone for the simple purpose of financial gains and protection.”
The disheartened prince swallowed, “I see. Is it with my brother Namjoon, then?”
You looked at the plate in front of you, “...I believe so.”
“Then I shall make sure you have his, too. Let’s finish our meal, Princess.” He smiled at you kindly.
Jin became more of himself than an heir, telling you jokes every chance he got. Sometimes it got lost in translation, but the way he told them made you laugh along with the goofy prince nonetheless. Once the meal was over with, you two walked. Seokjin told you several childhood stories about Namjoon.
If you were being completely honest with yourself, you were grateful the prince was being more open. It made you feel closer to him. Still, your heart was not with him as much as you tried. And you wanted it to be for your people. How much would it hurt your heart, though? To be married to the brother of the one you truly loved?
It’d be a pain greater than death.
Yoongi approached with a lion cub in his arms. He had visited earlier, and Muharib had placed this little girl in his lap. Seemed so very small, perhaps the runt of the litter. The prince asked for information in taking care of the tiny beast in order to let her grow up nice and strong.
“Please excuse me, Prince Jin.” You bowed to him.
He did the same, “By all means. I know how much these cats mean to you.”
You and Yoongi spoke in a hushed tone as to not wake the sleeping lion cub. He asked if these things extended to real children which made you laugh.
“It seems as though you’ve heard about my reputation here.”
“Healthy babies and less maternal deaths. I’m sure whoever gets to wed you will be most grateful for those gifts having come from you.”
You smiled, “I have an odd question.”
“What about?”
You bit your lip, “I am simply curious, but has Prince Namjoon ever been involved with anyone before?”
“Once, but she married a rival nation in order for there to be peace among their nations. They wrote until she ended contact with him. It’s been nearly 6 years, but he knew his love didn’t lie in someone so close to him. It would’ve been the smart marriage. Not the right one.”
“You speak as though you know what the right one would be for him.”
He grinned and his eyes did that silver gleam, “I have an informed notion.” Then Yoongi bowed. “I am glad that the black cat made it back safe with Namjoon the other day.” and he left to prepare proper transportation for his pet.
Your dance partners soon met up with you once more and spoke of the praise they had been receiving from the performance. There had been such words said to you throughout the night, but most knew what this night meant and let you be courted in peace. You asked about Prince Namjoon’s whereabouts.
Hoseok spoke, “Not sure where he went, but I saw him earlier. He said you looked quite beautiful in our traditional garb.”
Despite you knowing better, you let yourself blush, “Did he now? I hope I someday get to see him in mine.” You covered your mouth. “By that, I mean that I think he’d fit the look quite well or that he’d...oh my.”
Jimin laughed, “You’re quite adorable, Princess. A part of me does wish that we were a better fit for one another, but my eye does tend to wander from time to time.”
The three of you passed a group of young men with their dark chests bared to the outside and covered in sweat to the unending heat. White skirts were clasped at the hips in gold. Prince Jimin made unwavering eye contact with them as he brushed his hair back and licked his lips, unable to hide the smile they formed.
“This seems like the place where they do it the most, Jimin.” Hobi laughed. “Or what was the nickname that man from earlier gave you?”
“The one at the river?” The smaller man asked.
Hoseok nodded, and you listened with intrigue.
“Chim Chim.” Speaking of which. He waved at a tall man with cleancut curls.
A past suitor of yours.
“Tony!” He called out and left you two to join him.
Hoseok and you then saw Taehyung who showed you his painting that he began of the boat and the river. The three of you sat with each other and watched Jungkook sing a song he had prepared for today. Again you asked the location of Kim Namjoon. Your heart cried out for him so much more than your mouth did.
His younger brother replied, “He’s performing next, so I’m guessing he’s behind the curtain there.”
You looked for the outline of the tall gats the princes wore but could not see it. Namjoon was not behind that curtain. He couldn’t have been. You ate your words as he walked onto the stage in outfit similar to what your father wore. Many men wore this type of outfit. Shirtless with heavy jewels imbedded into a wide golden collar, but this was the first time you ever truly enjoyed the person wearing it. You swallowed.
His eyes darted across the audience, “I was asked by the Princess herself to prepare something for this night of festivity. I truly hope this pleases her…” He made eye contact with you. “I hope this pleases you, Princess (Y/N).”
He unrolled a piece of parchment and began to recite the words in a rhythm your ears did not know but loved all the same.
Is this love? Is this love? Sometimes I know Sometimes I don’t The next line What should I write? So many words are circling me But I don’t like a single one I just feel it Like the moon always rising after the sun Like nails growing, like trees shedding their leaves When winter comes You’re the one To turn my recollections into memories Before I knew you My heart was only in linear motion I’m just a person, person, person You erode all my sharp edges You make me Into love, love, love We’re people, people, people Among all of those countless linear lines My love, love, love When you sit on top, you become a heart I live so I love I live so I love Live & love, live & love Live & love, live & love I live so I love I live so I love Live & love, live & love If it’s love, I will love you You make I to an O I to an O I found out because of you Why “person” and “love” sound similar You make live to a love Live to a love I found out because of you Why a person must love as they live The distance between I and U is far but Forget JKLMNOPQRST I went past all those letters and reached you See, “me” and “you” are the same too Though that doesn’t mean I am you I want to be a part of your page I want to interfere in your story As your lover I’m just a person, person, person You erode all my sharp edges You make me Into love, love, love We’re people, people, people Among all of those countless linear lines My love, love, love When you sit on top, you become a heart I live so I love I live so I love Live & love, live & love Live & love, live & love I live so I love I live so I love Live & love, live & love If it’s love, I will love you What if I went away, what would it be like? If I leave, would you be sad? What if I wasn’t me, what would I be? Would you leave me? A blowing breeze, breeze, breeze Hoping it’s not like that A passerby person, person, person Hoping it’s not like that I feel so blue, blue, blue Do you know how much I How much I You’re my person, person, person You’re my breeze, breeze, breeze You’re my pride, pride, pride You’re my love My only love You’re my person, person, person You’re my breeze, breeze, breeze You’re my pride, pride, pride You’re my love My only love
He had confessed his feelings for you in his poem, his spoken song. You knew for sure this was the truth. The pounding of your heart and the shortness of breath at this reveal made if hard for you to think. Your feet were moving before your mind. To him. You took the ankh necklace you wore for this occasion and put it around his neck.
“Kim Namjoon, will you be my King?”
“Of course, my Queen.”
You felt so happy that you could cry. Instead you got on your tip-toes and kissed your future husband on the lips as he held you around the waist and cupped your face at the same time. There were cheers all around. Iset and Asir hugged each other, glad for their friend. You’d be marrying for love. You’d be marrying the one you loved.
And so would he. It was as if he’d hadn’t loved anyone before.

Episode Recap of "Joy and Austin Tie the Knot"
Season 5, Episode 6 - October 16, 2017
"Joy's wedding day arrives after months of planning, and the final touches are added as family and friends come together to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. Forsyth."
On October 23 it will be "Joseph's Wedding""Joe and Kendra's wedding day finally arrives, but there may still be a few surprises in store for the happy couple."
On October 30 it will "Josh and Anna's Divorce" Just wishful thinking. I will keep this as short as possible because it's a beautiful day and all I want to think about this weekend is the new episode of The Walking Dead starting tomorrow night. It's a horror holiday weekend for me and a Duggar clone wedding isn't going to ruin it for me! PS. After watching the show and writing all this horror I have missed my beautiful day. When did it start getting dark at 7:00?!
1. The fundie zombie Joy wedding episode begins with something a little new. There is a montage of Austin and Joy scenes played with a cute love song. I'm guessing the montage is there to try to hide the fact that there is an arranged marriage about to happen. The Duggar zombies are all hanging out at the airport waiting for DerJill and Izzy to arrive back from El Salvador for the wedding and forever. Joy is hanging onto Austin's arm with a deer in the headlights look. There is only four days until the wedding. DerJill's friend, German, will be murdered in El Salvador right after they left and right before the wedding. I think that's how that tragic timeline went down. This tragedy doesn't make it into the episode.
2. The bridal gown arrives. Ooooos and ahhhhhs happen. Joe takes Kendra to Jessa and Ben's for dinner. They need a chaperone on the car ride because they were afraid to travel alone due to the zombie apocalypse. Rick and Michone weren't available to chaperone so they got Kendra's sister instead. They all cook and talk about themselves as usual. I don't see any dirty diapers on the greasy stove so all's good. Jessa and Joe agree that they never saw Joy and Austin getting together. That's odd. Joy has said she has been swooning over Austin for years. See! Arranged marriage! Proof right there!
3. Three days to the wedding and Joy and Austin's house is still a complete mess. Yeah, I didn't think they would get much done in three weeks. I've seen houses on The Walking Dead look nicer after a hoard of zombies ate their way through them than Joy and Austin's house. They have been given an RV to live in so I'm guessing their first child will be named Wheels Forsyth. Now why didn't they hold off on the wedding until the house was done? Because they needed something to fill up last season's dull schedule so they arranged the marriage and pushed for a wedding to happen when the show needed it. How romantic. Austin comes off as a very poorly educated young man in this clip. He seems a little slow on the uptake. Maybe it was just nerves.
4. Joe arrives at some shed-like building to ask pastor Caldwell if he can ask Kendra to marry him. At least it's a step up from the closets Jim Bob was in when some of the guys asked to marry his daughters. Jim Bob in a closet is where most of us think he lives anyway. How does pastor Caldwell look younger than Joe? He's in great shape for a fundie walker.
5. Wedding prep begins with Miss Cindy. Sage grass is cut and gathered. Jinger and Jeremy arrive for the wedding and nobody bothers to greet them. I'm sure they were fine without a Duggar blood thirsty mob meeting them. They drop off all the bowls and stuff they bought at the church and my hope for a Duggar dish disaster didn't pan out. Darn. Miss Cindy has to put up with more Duggar stupidity when they run out of gas delaying her efforts to decorate the church. They screwed her up last time by forgetting to bring buckets. Miss Cindy needs to fire these bums and get a new A-Team. They finally get to the church and a hurricane of wheat, grass and hay blow into the building. Anyone with grass allergies may want to avoid a Duggar wedding. A few props are placed on the stage and then the guys complain of being tired and don't finish their work for the day. They wouldn't survive an hour in the zombie apocalypse. 6. The girls, including Anna and Austin all congregate in the girls' dorm. Joy and Austin are presented the rusty camping stove. They don't seem impressed. They like the something new hard hats a little better but Jana never hands them the hats. Others need to sign them first. Then Jessa presents her something borrowed basket which Joy thinks is cute. Jinger presents the something blue basket which is a hit but I wonder where they are going to put all their gifts in that small RV.
7. JoyStin visit the church for the wedding rehearsal. They see the decorations for the first time. To me it looked like Miss Cindy finally had a breakdown after too many Duggar goof-offs helping her that she just threw all the flowers and hay all over the place. The stage was a mess! I love how they think a "stage" in a chapel is normal. Why would a house of God need a stage? Build God an altar already. Many altars were built for God in the Bible and they weren't all for sacrifices. They were to worship God. The Bible never mentions building a stage for God. Anyhoo, that's my rant so now back to this mess. They rehearse the wedding and then leave. JoyStin eat at the rehearsal dinner and notice JinJer's dishes. They better eat a lot because they won't get much after the wedding the next day. Speeches begin where again get we see Jill's zombie like brainwashing. She talks about demanding to raise Joy instead of the reality of her parents brainwashing her into that adult duty at age 7. Austin's brother-in-law gives an odd speech where he warns Joy that there will be times when Austin messes up but he'll get it back together and be better than before. Austin seems a little grim at this point. What exactly did he mean by messing up? This all gave me a creepy feeling.
8. Here we go! Another Duggar wedding. Yawn....I'm having deja vu. I think I've seen this all already. Oh, I already did months ago. Joy claims to be relaxed and all the other married Duggar girls also claimed to have not been nervous at their weddings. I'm guessing this is part of their Gothard training. Relax and trust the Lord. Just ask Him to close his eyes on the wedding night. Joy still doesn't know what to do with her hair. Jason says Austin is like a brother which makes the wedding even creepier when there's a brother marrying a sister or just normal by Duggar standards. Austin is sleep deprived and getting nervous. He needs a stiff drink and Daryl to see him through.
9. I'm skipping some now because I'm done with this crap but now I'm up to Joy and Austin seeing each other in their wedding uniforms before the wedding. Jenni breaks down again before the ceremony. It's always sad to lose your mom. The Godbobber wears the same old wedding suit and makes the same old speech as he did for all the other daughter weddings. They walk the aisle and pastor Caldwell gives a horrifying speech about the covenant of marriage. He says the only way to break the covenant is to die... and eat Negan. Yeah, Negan needs to go. The only way? Pastor, if your wife left you for another man would you stay legally married to her even though she's in Jamaica with the pool guy or would you kill her or yourself? How does this work exactly? So if Josh cheats again and again and again, Anna should remain with that pig and just hope to die as quickly as possible? Ick! Fundies do morality so badly. Austin answers "I do" to that speach but Joy barely has time to say yes before the pastor moves on. Since he rushed Joy through her answer, I say that nulls the covenant contract. Joy, you may divorce Austin if needed. Don't let Bible picking make you miserable your entire life. They kiss, they run through the hay strewn aisle and then are pistol whipped by a confetti cannon. Typical Arkansas wedding. Snacks happen in the lobby. JoyStin cut the cake and Joy sticks her finger in Austin's mouth for a good licking. Joe and Kendra then steal the limelight by getting engaged. Joy describes the wedding as epic and then they drive off in a big assed truck with tons of arsenal to keep the walkers away as they breed for God. Is it Sunday night yet?!!!

Wanting It All Ch 5, Dealing With The Past
A/N: Thank you all for the many notes and reviews asking about Grace…her foot is officially NOT broken. There was something that showed up on the growth plate in the foot that scared them, but after further review, it is a sprain….a SLOW healing sprain. (And that boot hurts if it should "accidentally" catch you in the shin) (She was more upset then me after it happened so I'm sure it was an accident, but dang it hurts!)
I would like to reiterate that AngelGurl0 has been basically co-plotting, if not co-authoring this fic. However, michaelfmx has generously offered to dip his big toe into this one, and beta it for us, so thank you so much sir! I'm not sure how fast to move these two, if I'm honest, and I'm just writing what I feel. There is a bit of a spy thing coming up, this isn't the same Chuck we saw in the show, and it's not the same Sarah, because they changed each other. Last chapter we put some things on the table, this chapter, we talk about them. Welcome to Wanting It All Ch 5, Dealing With the Past
Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck, and don't we all need a proposal plan.....
Chuck picked up his phone and grinned when he saw who it was. His tone was teasing as he answered, "You know. Morgan needs his Chuck time too." Chuck had promised Morgan he would go over and play video games Thursday evening. It wasn't going to be a long session, ending around 9, but after that Sarah had suggested he text her to see if she was awake so he could stop by if she was. He REALLY hoped she didn't fall asleep.
Sarah giggled into the phone. "Oh, I'm aware, he's been bitching to me for the past several nights. I mean, would it kill him if we had some time alone?"
Chuck looked over at Morgan. He smiled at his friend. "I'm willing to risk it." Morgan grinned at him, thinking Chuck had just defended him to Sarah.
She grinned, laughed, and looked over at her four-year-old, the reason she was calling. "Better not, I kinda like the little bearded guy. Look, there's an actual reason for my call. My son refuses to believe me, because I don't know much about Spider-Man. I tried to tell him that just because I don't know Spider-Man, it doesn't mean I don't know other stuff."
"How do you not know Spider-Man?"
"Chuck, focus." She was grinning and felt like he was as well. "Anyway, he thinks you or Morgan would know."
"Okay." Chuck was curious about what this could be about.
"He was mentioning Captain Marvel, and I asked if he meant the DC one or the Marvel one. He told me there was no Captain Marvel in DC. I then explained that Captain Marvel was in DC, due to Fawcett comics being shut down over a copyright lawsuit by DC, and then the characters were leased and later purchased by DC. In Marvel, he was actually aptain Mar-vell of the Kree, who developed cancer and died. Later, Ms. Marvel became Captain Marvel and…." She stopped when her door flew open, startling her. Chuck took three steps toward her and kissed her, soundly. She had forgotten this, both how it felt and how he would react when she started "nerd-talking" to him. In fact, this kiss would probably make her remember her entire life if she ever forgot it. Note to self, kiss Chuck if you ever have some weird amnesia. She had done this to him before. Sometimes she would learn something nerdy just to get him to kiss her like that, passionately, not-thinking, just pure love. He pulled back a little, his eyes searching hers, and she grinned saucily. "Have I told you what I thought of the Solo movie?" His eyes crossed. He shook his head to clear his mind and looked over at Jordan.
"Whoa," was all the boy could say.
"Jordan, you need to know women know just as many things, if not more, than guys," Chuck told him. "Including nerdy things." Jordan nodded.
Sarah wasn't about to let this go. "You know the silliest thing about that lawsuit, if the lawyer had any sense he would have pointed out that he wasn't actually Superman because Superman gets his powers from the sun and has a weakness of magic. Then Fawcett's Captain Marvel, now SHAZAM's powers are magic based so it would be an impossibility for the two to be the same," Sarah said behind him.
Chuck raised a finger to Jordan. "One second." He stood up, turned, and kissed her again. When they broke this time, he looked into her eyes. "Seriously, do you know what you're doing to me?"
She nodded, grinning. "Fully aware."
"Sarah, your door's open," Daniel said coming in. "Oh, I'm sorry. You must be him."
"Him?" Chuck said, confused. He shook Daniel's hand when offered.
"I know you rushed off the other day when I showed up unannounced, but I wanted to meet you. You've made a big impression on my son." Jordan nodded. Daniel looked at Chuck kindly. "He thinks a lot of you."
"I appreciate that," Chuck said.
Daniel studied Chuck for a minute. "You'll take care of him, won't you?"
Chuck was taken aback. "I don't understand," Chuck said. "Are you going somewhere?"
"No, when you two get married," Daniel explained like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Married?" Chuck asked, turning to Sarah, who shrugged like she didn't know what was going on. He turned back to Daniel. "Married?"
-ooooo-
"Does he hate me?" Morgan asked, drinking a grape soda.
Chuck had left Sarah's a few minutes after the debacle and returned to Morgan's. Daniel wanted to spend some time with his son, and Chuck, knowing how important it was to spend time with your dad, gave them some space. Sarah told him to call her, but from the frustrated look on her face, he didn't think he'd be seeing her anymore tonight. He'd told Morgan everything that had happened. Morgan hadn't said anything. He'd gone to get a six pack of soda, sat, and drank before he'd asked Chuck his very confusing question.
"Hate you?"
Morgan looked at Chuck like he'd grown a third head. "Yes, hate me. You know I had your wedding all planned out, the one to Jenny/Sarah." Chuck just shook his head. "PLUS the proposal plan is now back in play, and he just throws that out there. Does he know how hard I've worked on the whole thing?"
Chuck saw they were heading to Morgantown so he just sat back and enjoyed the ride. "Didn't Sarah nix the DeLorean?"
He shook his head, disgusted. "She just didn't understand how important it was."
Chuck really admired the bearded man's commitment. "And the horses on the beach?"
He shrugged at that one, he had to concede her point. "She said she didn't want to have to clean up after them, and to be fair, they do tend to just do their business wherever they wish."
Chuck was hoping this one would stop him. "What about the balcony at the winery up in the Valley?"
Morgan looked at him like he had lost it. "She was good with that but she wasn't waiting three years until you could propose to her." Chuck turned to look at him. Shock covered his face. "Dude, you can't get in until you're 21."
This was news. Was there actually a chance for them back then? He knew how he'd felt, and she had told Morgan this information. "Uh, she was serious?"
"What does it matter if she was or not, I was…I mean am…you know what I mean!" Chuck gave him a look. He thought about asking if Morgan knew it wasn't about him but decided that would be a waste of breath. "Dude, did you not get how much she loved you? Still loves you?"
He shook his head. "I mean, I thought I knew, but then…" he blew out a breath. "Her dad screwed up so much."
"He did, but you can go forward now."
It was so easy for Morgan, he didn't understand. He had to understand, and it was up to Chuck to show him. "Morgan, she has a kid."
Moran stared at him. "Chuck, did she seem bothered by what Daniel said?"
"Morgan, you make it sound simple, it's not that simple. It's actually quite…complicated."
Morgan lost it. "Oh, so for over eight months you two grew so close you could talk about all that stuff at seventeen. But now, now that you're adults and you've found out all the negative stuff that caused you to split was a lie, and you can go forward and be happy, your answer is it's not that simple." He sat up and looked Chuck right in the eye. "Dude, I told you a long time ago, she's the one, and nothing has changed." Morgan stood up and looked out the window. "He's gone, Chuck." Chuck gave Morgan a look. Morgan looked at him. "For someone so smart, you sure are stupid. I'm throwing you out, go over there." Chuck left Morgan's and walked across the yard. He stood on the doorstep, fist raised. He pulled his hand down, got ready to leave when then the door opened, a phone in Sarah's hand.
She did NOT look pleased. "Nope, he didn't knock," she said into the phone. "Thanks, Morgan. Yes, I agree the balcony is still a fine idea." She snapped the phone shut, turning her attention on him. "Any reason you were about to run away?"
"The sight of that ancient phone was too much for me." he deadpanned.
She shook her head, not laughing or smiling. Chuck knew things were about to get serious. "Get in here, I'll put Jordan to bed and we'll talk."
He nodded and followed her through the door. "Sorry about Morgan." She gave him a look, shook her head, and headed off to put Jordan to sleep. She didn't look happy. Great. Now Morgan had her upset. He sat down on her couch, nervous. What was he nervous about? It was Sarah. He knew things were different now. She had a son. It wasn't as simple as it used to be.
"Chuck, Morgan isn't the problem," she said as she came back in. "Lot of things look good on you, Chuck; curls, short hair, rolled up sleeves, and so many other things, but the one thing that doesn't is self-doubt."
Chuck was surprised by that. "I have no self-doubt."
"Really? Huh, well then I guess it was someone else sitting there thinking how complicated things are now."
Who was she, and when did she learn to read people. Had she always known? "I never said those things."
"Chuck, are we really going to argue only to agree in the end that you're wrong?" She didn't wait for an answer, sat down right beside him, took his left arm, put it over her shoulders, and leaned against him. She sighed contently. "I missed this," she said softly. "We watched many a movie like this." He leaned over and kissed her head like he used to, and she melted inside. "You'd better not be thinking of rescinding that invitation for tomorrow afternoon."
"I love you, Sarah, that hasn't changed, but other things have," he said softly. She snuggled closer to him. "But they don't seem to concern you." She shrugged.
"I love you, you love me, everything else, we'll figure you," she said.
"Yeah, but," he began.
"Chuck, shut up. Baby, I love you, but you worry about too much." She sat up and looked at him. God he missed that look. He missed her calling him baby. He missed it all. "Do you love me and want to be with me?"
"Sarah, I do, but-"
"No buts, Chuck, either you do or you do not do, there is no try." She winked at him. He leaned forward to kiss her but she backed away, eyebrow arched.
"I love you."
"You once told me we had forever, remember?" He nodded. "What's changed?" He didn't answer. "Do you like Jordan?"
"Of, course, Sarah."
"So what's the problem?"
"It's not that easy," he replied, as seriously as he could. She shook her head, pushed his face back and leaned back into him.
"Yeah, it is. Now, if you think it's too complicated we just won't come over tomorrow." Chuck started to say something. "Zip it, Bartowski. We've wasted eight years and I'm not gonna waste any more time because you think it's complicated."
"Sarah," he began.
"I'm not mad, Chuck, I'm just telling you how it is. Now are you going to let me enjoy my Chuck snuggle time?"
"You know I'm all about the cuddle and the snuggle." She lifted up and looked at him, shaking her head.
"That's cruel, teasing a girl with some cuddling like that. That's serious stuff, Bartowski."
He took a breath. "I'm serious."
She leaned in and kissed him. When she pulled back she was inches from his face. "Then start acting like it." She winked, and leaned back against him, enjoying her Chuck time.
-ooooo-
Chuck was sitting by his pool. He had been thinking all night since he'd left Sarah's, and she was right. He was pondering lunch when his phone started ringing. He picked it up, saw who it was, smiled, and answered. "Chuck Bartowski, man who realizes loving Sarah Walker is very uncomplicated, speaking."
"Now that's the proper way to answer the phone," she said giggling. "How would you feel about your two weekend house guests showing up early?"
Chuck sat up, grinning. "Sarah, you're always welcomed at my place."
"Not at 3 AM," she countered.
"Sure you are," he insisted.
"Then why don't I have a key? See you in an hour," and with that she hung up as Chuck sat and processed that.
-ooooo-
"If you don't want me here, you should change the code." Morgan had shown up, unannounced, again. Chuck was nearing freak-out levels of spiraling.
"Morgan, it's not that, Sarah and Jordan are coming over."
Morgan hadn't seen Chuck this upset in some time, he was determined to be the pillar of support Chuck needed. "I'm very aware, I'm here to babysit."
"Morgan, I need to do this."
Morgan looked at his friend and it dawned on him what Chuck was saying. "That's what this is about, you're scared of kids?"
"Scared? I wouldn't say scared, it's just I have no idea what I'm doing."
Morgan shook his head. He stared at his friend. "I want head nods and shakes only." Chuck nodded. "Do you love Sarah?" Chuck nodded. "Are you willing to be the father that boy needs." He thought for a second and nodded. Relief showed on Morgan's face. "THEN WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?" Chuck just stared at him, and it dawned on Morgan he had told Chuck to only nod and shake his head. "Go ahead."
"Have you seen that kid's dad? It's not like he's dead, it's not like he's not in his life. In fact, he is working hard to be in Jordan's life." Chuck was beginning to spiral and didn't see Sarah enter the house. She was hearing all of it and grinning. "It's not just her, it's her and Jordan, and that makes things complicated." Chuck noticed Morgan glancing past his shoulder. "Oh God, she's right behind me, isn't she?"
"Well, that explains the complicated remark last night. What are you gonna do about it, Bartowski?" He turned towards her and there it was. The smirk on her face. He had missed that so much.
He spoke as honestly as he could. "Try really hard?" Sarah nodded. "You'll be patient?" She nodded again. Chuck turned to Jordan. "Buddy, can you and I talk." Jordan nodded. Sarah and Morgan gave them some privacy. They sat on the couch. "So, I love your mom."
"I love her too." He thought for a second. "But you kiss her different than I do."
"Right. You kiss her like you kiss your mom or your sister."
"YOU KISS YOUR SISTER!"
Sarah chuckled in the other room hearing that. "Yeah on the cheek, and I hug her too." He looked at Jordan. "So, my mom and dad left when I was a little older than you, and my sister raised me. So she's my sister, but she's more, you know?" Jordan nodded. "I was thinking about, if it's okay with you, taking your mom on dates and sometimes bringing you along, because it's the two of you, not just her."
"Where could we go, because I don't want to see one of those kissing movies."
Chuck nodded. He had to admit he agreed with the kid. "Me either. How about just her and I go see them, that way you don't have to."
Jordan was thankful for Chuck taking the bullet on that one. "Can we go watch Marvel movies?"
"Is that okay with your mom?" Jordan was quiet. "See, that's the stuff you can't do to me. Whatever your mom and dad says goes." He took a deep breath. "And also, I understand, I'm not your dad, I'm not trying to take his place. I never would, but I do love your mother, and I have for a very long time."
Jordan was quiet for a moment. "I like you, and my mom really likes you." Chuck grinned at him. "I won't try to trick you."
Chuck reached over and ruffled Jordan's hair. "Jordan, you're a kid, of course you'll try and trick me, just know the punishment will be the same as if you tried it on your mom." Chuck looked up and saw Sarah standing in the doorway, a happy smile on her face. "I need a minute with her, if that's okay."
"Yep. What do I call you?"
"How about Chuck?" He held his hand up, and Jordan gave him a high five. "I bet if you ask Morgan, he can get the wii out." Jordan took off to find Morgan. Sarah came in, grinning. She sat down beside him, and Chuck reached in his pocket and pulled something out. He handed it to her. She took it and looked at it, confused. "Like I said, you're always welcome here. You need to get away, use the pool, whatever, you're welcome. Even if I'm gone somewhere."
"Did you just invite me to move in with you?" she asked, the teasing tilt evident in her voice.
"I'm not saying I did or didn't, but don't you think that would be a bit much, especially for Jordan, who just moved?" She nodded and grinned. "Also, you two have rooms right beside each other." She cocked an eyebrow. "Sarah…."
"No, no, you're right. Last time probably did scar us both a bit."
Chuck looked a little down. "Well, I don't know if I'd go that far. That night was amazing. The next day, not so much."
She thought about that night, the limo, the music, the dancing, but as great as all of that was, none of it was as great as one Charles Bartowski. He told her he loved her, but didn't expect anything that night. Her face got dreamy for a second thinking how she had finally found someone who loved her for her. Not for how she could run a con, or be a partner for a scheme, but be a partner in life. The plans they had made for Barsoft, the future they had talked about, the house she wanted that she told him about that no one else knew about….And then the next day….she shuddered and blinked back tears thinking about how her world had shattered. She had been devastated with that letter, and, for a moment, she hated herself for ever believing Chuck Bartowski could do that to her. She pulled herself out of her thoughts, saw his face, and knew he'd been thinking similar things.
She ran her hand through his hair. "That night was amazing. The next day was the worst of my life. I promise you the next time it happens," she paused, to let that sink in. He grinned, turned a little red, but didn't pull away. "I'll be right there beside you the next morning and day."
"Oh, great, you're gonna go 'Basic Instinct' on me." She burst out laughing. He took her hand. "We're adults, we're in charge of our actions now, and we can make this work."
She held up the key. "Last chance, Bartowski, take it back, or forever hold your peace." He made a zipping motion over his lips. Sarah found her key chain and put it on her key ring. "Is there anything else I need to know?"
"The security code is your birthday, two-digit month and two-digit day."
She had a sad look on her face, and rubbed his neck with her hand, her thumb just touching the skin below his ear, the way she used to comfort him when he was upset. "You never did forget me, did you?" He shook his head. "Okay, that's in the past, let's move forward." He nodded. "So, any plans?"
"Well," he said grinning and grabbing his laptop. He pulled it open and showed her what he was thinking. She grinned and turned toward him.
"Jordan too?" Chuck nodded. She pulled him in for a kiss. "I love you, Chuck."
"I love you, Sarah." He kissed her again, neither of them noticing the two sets of eyes on them.
"Do they always do that?" they heard Jordan say from the hallway.
"All the time," Morgan admitted. "All the time."
A/N: Next time, the chapter I did the least amount of work on because it was basically all written by AngelGurl0, The Aquarium. (It has been read and approved by halfachance). (PSST! GO READ MAY YOUR WALLS KNOW JOY!) Hoped you liked it, reviews are always welcomed…til next time.

My grandmother.

I have no problem with it. I’d be a hypocrite if I said I did. Have sex whenever you want. Who cares? As long as it’s consensual it’s ok with me. I think it’s important to have a good sexual connection with your partner before you get married so you know you’re compatible.

I think putting it in the family room/second living room (whatever you call it) is a good idea. That’s how my house has it. The living room is still a good place though.
