Alright, I can't get this out of my mind, and I feel compelled to figure this out.

Monster High Months. I have a few figured out, but I'm drawing blanks on others. Some suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even alternatives to the ones I came up with.

January- Fanguary or Janu-scary

February- Febooary or Febu-scary

March- Lurch...?

April- Gravepril or A-shrill

August- Ughhhgust (Like Zombie speak)

October- Spooktober (I think this works so much better than "fangtober")

November- Bonevember (Not fond of this one) or Novemboo

HIII!!!!!! My favorite genres are hip hop and rb/soul type stuff!!!! Most of my drawing playlists consists of stuff like Guinnesses by MF DOOM and I’ve been loving you by Otis Redding! Something about those genres are just so so much fun to listen to while doing creatives!

downloaded the pocket mirror soundtrack AUUUGH. who was going to tell me that the same theme that plays in the beginning over elise giving her the pocket mirror is the same that plays throughout the emotional scenes.

THAT LITTLE BIT IS SO COOL #does emptiness play in fleta's attic? it sounds like it was from there but it's ordered with harpae's themes. hrm #oooh the little sound effects are actually part of chalk nightmare that's so cool #oh. oubliette does not play in either of the places i thought it would. ie the two places literally titled oubliette.#goddddddd the piano in harpae's theater theme goes so hard #AND GOD. One of my fave things to do is listen to pop songs and figure out the melody on piano just from listening and then try to figure out the chord progression and then once I think I have it look up what it is and see how right I was like it's like one of the few things I'm really proud of myself for being able to do

#god forbid you put sheet music in front of me though #I can't parse it for shit #i don't even have any piano lessons #i just sorta taught myself and learned by ear #i wouldn't say I'm good #like i couldn't play anything classical #but I can play some pop music #but it's fun to do this with not normal chord progressions #like 'oooh this sounds interesting and non standard let's figure it out!'#i did this with teenage dream by olivia rodrigo last night #and popped off when I was right #mine #piano

trick to fun dialogue is just to make it a little hard to understand. maybe thats a cheap trick but i dont care

#or not even that hard necessarily just like it takes like 2 listens. it takes attention #and what 'harder' is is subjective depends on the type of dialogue you hear a lot and your vocabulary level #watching the nevers right #and im watching this scene and theres this character who exactly hits this spot for me #like 5........wait 5 years ago is not as far as i think it is.........7 years ago (ugh) i woudlnt have understood what she was saying #like i'd know all the words separately but iwouldnt have understood what she was saying at all #but rn im like oooh this is the exact balance between obscuring your meaning and substance #i think oftne in my writing i obscure more than there is substance #there usually /is/. /some/ substance #theres usually substance. just theres more complication than there is substance. here the balance is better #bc someone needs to say these words hfkghgj #the other day while reading scripts im making myself rewrite i was like 'i coudltn do this in a fic. iwouldnt get away with this'#lines that work in a script (bc they'll be acted) fall flat in fic bc we dont have the luxury (or limitation) of actors #but it really made me think abt like..what you need to do in a script for television vs in a fic based on that television you knwo what i #mean? different things you need to work for. WE need to work for that the characters sound like Them. that we can Hear them #tv gets that almost free. the words will be in the right voice in the right body that gets you like 60-70% of the way #less sometimes depending on the specificity of the character&circumstances i was mostly thinking abt the doctor who maybe has more leeway #and tv has the limitations of 1) needs to be sayable. but also 2) needs to be flatter i think #you cant put 5 meanings in every line bc theres plot that needs to keep going and sentences need to stay short #so you get a lot of character work for free i think but in return you need to rein yourself in in that way #anyway idk these observations were just based on like me rewriting the 14 specials and going 'this line fucking sucks in fic' fhgkjhgkjgh #not that it was a bad line! just. boring .meaningless. doesnt add. filler noise. i dont have TIME for that in fic. i lose people #idc if i lose readers i dont know abt that but i lose myself honestly very short attention span keep every word interesting #scripts are fluffy and repetitious. repetitive. but repetitious sounds funner #anyway its fun trying to match that tv need with my own lines that i add in #not too obscure. needs to be sayable. but with my own 'half the spices cabinet in my single cup of hot choccy' approach to writing #(and hot choccy)

To be fair they are not on anon! But, while I cannot speak to the veracity or notability of the Forgotten Realms wiki, I HIGHLY recommend people take a look at her page because it rules. I have provided a few choice excerpts:

as of posting, this is her entire personality section btw. also, TIL that Drizz't's hometown sounds like an antianxiety medication.

in which I learn that the Faerun drow have a position called "elderboy" and that, in attempting to paint Malice as unspeakably evil, Mr. R. A. Salvatore succeeded but also managed to paint her as the most awesome motherfucker the Underdark will ever see.

Drizz't's dad is just a guy named Zack Nathan. I went to Hebrew school with him.

Also I have left out the extended excerpt in which Malice was apparently controlling a wraith that was actually good old Zak here, in what was at least her third and probably her like, tenth attempt to kill her Special Son With Purple Eyes Like Limpid Pools and who carries a sword that is literally named Twinkle and also a sword that is basically named Murder Frosting. But Zak managed to briefly come to himself and kill himself so that he would not kill Drizz't, because matriarchal societies are only permitted in fiction if they are also evil and sacrifice men (see also: The Wicker Man.) This made Lolth, never the most forgiving of the deities, Big Mad, and then Drizz't's half sister (on Malice's side) killed Malice in order to try to win back Lolth's favor but Lolth wasn't into it, and thus did the cringe fail house of Do'Urden fall.

Anyway I NEED to read these books and see if Malice is just as fucking unhinged and terrible because as someone who enjoys reading about the rises and falls of highly entertaining female fantasy villains she sounds like maybe the greatest of all time.
