So after sitting on this for an entire day I decided I had to make a special post about it because Goddamn.

I think you ALL should go read Contingency Planning by @oodlyenough because it's genuinely sO fucking good my friend and I spent the better part of last night screaming about it and it still came up several times today we are NOT over it.

Spoiler-free screaming to give you an idea of hoW INSANE IT MADE US, and then spoiler-screaming under the cut!! For context my friend read it earlier in the day and then I read it at night so this is mostly me yelling at her as I'm reading!

I finished watching Arcane. I'm not okay. All I'm reading right now is Jayvik fix-it fic. If you have recs, please tell me what to read next. Also looking for Jinx fic where she is her darling trigger-happy chaos demon self. Is there any good fic about Salo? He is such a bitch (affectionate).

Partners, Jayce calls them. Not for the first time, Viktor wonders: Partners in what?

Post-canon, cabin fix-it fic. The fixing is taking them a while.

I think stories that are 'cruel' to characters are stories that neglect them pretty much… bad stuff happening to a character isn't really 'cruel' if it's like, meaningful and in service of an arc and theme and that sort of thing.

like not to cite the deep magic or w/e but I remember so many circular arguments about, like, Buffy for example, where some people were like "well Joss is a misogynist because bad things happen to Buffy." and like. no, Joss is a misogynist because bad things happened to Cordelia because he was pissed at Charisma Carpenter for getting pregnant; bad things happening to Buffy is the architecture of the show because she is the protagonist. like girl I'm sorry your first time resulted in your true love turning evil, that sucks, but. this is a metaphor and you're living in a story.

and you're SO right about how under-utilizing or ignoring characters being the true cruelty. not respecting them enough to let them play the role they were built for is maddening

All of these are recent fics, probably because a lot of my stuff is older and was mainly written on other sites (LiveJournal, email lists, and even my own website), and when I moved them to AO3 I backdated them. Of course Star Wars is a BIG fandom so they still might have had the most kudos.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably the 200 word fic Finally (Star Wars) where Vader's having a hot girl summer thinking about torturing Obi-Wan.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most everything I write is light and fluffy, but maybe Inertia (Doctor Who) because it was an actual fix-it fic. The Doomsday episode of Doctor Who aired, I had a breakdown... bon appetit.

8. Do you get hate on fics? A very mild comment here or there, but I write fairly mild fic.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Revelation: I've done a few anonymous prompt fills on kink memes in the past. But I don't have anything on AO3.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I wrote a crossover between The 10th Kingdom and Labyrinth a billion years ago. But generally I don't.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have vague memories of Duck Soup (SG-1) being stolen, which was spotted by people almost immediately because there aren't many stories out there that revolve around a farting duck. 🦆

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! It's nifty!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yup! With @go-ldy and @shinyopals and also josephides on LiveJournal!

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Um...probably Doctor/Rose, although I'm not much into it these days. They gave me serotonin for years.

16. What are your writing strengths? I think I'm fairly good at parroting characters' speaking patterns. It goes a long way if the dialog sounds like something the characters would say.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Plot. I'd love to be able to churn out a 100k fic.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Two languages in one head? No one can live at that speed!

19. First fandom you wrote for? My very first was The 10th Kingdom, where I wrote 2 whole fics that were posted on an email list. I think I've still got them somewhere, although they're not on AO3.

you should watch the anime and yes it is very ugly. whenever it's adapting a case it's kind of dull imo but whenever it goes off script and adds stuff it's quite fun. s2 is generally better both aesthetically and in terms of the fun bonus stuff

okay I'll add it to my watchlist then! tbh I was not aware the anime went off script at all so I didn't see the point in watching it when i could replay the same game a 5th time lol

fic: in a dark, dark room

Getting into bed with Wright was the only option. Getting into bed with Wright was unthinkable. 1.5k of awkward Narumitsu bed-sharing, post-PLVPWAA. (Not very specifically spoilery, but the previous fic in the series is.)

Miles Edgeworth had been doing his best not to fall asleep around other people since he was nine years old.

Nightmares were incriminating, or they were embarrassing, and in either case they begged questions Miles had no desire to answer. A perk of the von Karma estate, and later a high prosecutor’s paycheque, was that private accommodations were easy to come by. Long-haul flights were a marathon endured through willpower, judicious layovers and inadvisable amounts of caffeine.

Once upon a time, when Franziska was still young enough to fear monsters in the dark but wise enough to hide such weakness from her father, there were rare nights she’d barge into his room and climb into his bed. Miles would read to her until she fell asleep correcting his German, and then he’d keep reading until the first hint of dawn peeked through the curtains and he could send Franziska back to her own room.

Miles hadn’t shared a bed with anyone since.

And yet now, here he was, ensnared in a trap of his own making. Franziska would call him a fool, and she’d be right—he’d acted on rare impulse, his judgment impaired by selfishness as much as compassion, and he was paying the price.

Phoenix Wright was in Miles’ hotel room, sound asleep in Miles’ bed.
