Hi there! It’s Munday and I have a few new mutuals, so I thought I’d take a minute to introduce myself and mention a few things about this blog that weren’t in my rules. Things I go by/that people call me here: RF (rodentfanatic), Rodent, Ratty, Ratmun, Ms. Rat, 90smun, 90s, Shawmun. I currently have two rats, two chinchillas, and five mice, all girls. I try not to let it overwhelm the blog but I do have a huge love for small animals/rodents so you’re gonna see quite a few OOC posts and reblogs of them. Please let me know if you have a phobia of them and need them tagged. I try to tag them with the animal name (mouse, rat, hamsters, etc) most of the time but I don’t always. Also, these animals are short-lived and prone to many health problems, so pet illness and pet death does occur on this blog, please understand how it may affect my posting when that happens. I’m going to be 33 soon. I joined Tumblr RP in 2015 but have been RPing online since I was 15. I like to think I’ve gotten decent. Prior to 2015 all my characters were OCs, usually at supernatural themed boards, but since joining Tumblr I’ve primarily/only writing Marvel comics canon characters. . .typically very obscure ones. Shaw’s probably the most prominent/well-known one I have a blog for. During the week, I work at a day center for adults with intellectual disabilities. I’m on here a lot during work, so if I just all of a sudden stop talking to you mid-conversation or something, it’s because I’m actually doing work. On weekends, I usually visit or volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary, but the second Saturday of every month I go to a vampire-themed LARP. Sometimes I post pictures from both. I’m often salty about current comics, especially how Shaw is written. I used to post a lot more about that, I’m trying to not care so much anymore (it helps that a certain writer is no longer writing him -Duggan is the devil on this blog, you guys) but sometimes that does come up. Sorry. Finally, I draw. Badly. But I am getting better! My art tag is creatively named “my art”

Favourite muse(s) you’ve written: This one right here, Mr Dylan Massett. I also really enjoyed writing my old OC, Leo Alexander, as well as Tom McNair a couple of times. I mean... I’ve enjoyed writing all my muses for sure, but if I had to pick, those’d be top, I think.

What inspired you to take on your current muse (that you are posting this on): Actually, @notimminent followed me on my Leo Alexander account, and I’d been a fan of Bates Motel but hadn’t realized there was any kind of RP community for it till she showed up in my notifications. Leo had bits and pieces of Dylan in him, and when people seemed to get really tired of Leo and writing him just got too depressing, I thought I’d give Dylan a try, since Dylan’s a little less callous, a little easier to get along with, and... here I am.

What are your favourite aspects of your current muse: His heart. I seem to always pick characters who have this incredible ability to love so deeply, even to the point of self destruction, and Dylan’s just the prime example of this character trait that certainly both a strength and flaw.

What’s your biggest inspiration when it comes to writing: Dylan himself just kind’ve speaks to me. It sounds strange, I guess, but whenever I take up a new muse, it’s really like they take up residence in my head if they stick -- they start to have opinions on everything, just constantly sort’ve have their own train of thought -- a little like the cartoon angel and devils on the shoulder, ‘cept instead I’ve got a Dylan in my skull. I guess otherwise, I get a lot of inspiration from the canon material itself, just looking over it in any kind’ve way; whether it’s rewatching, capping, whatever. And then there’s music. I love that bit of a high you can get from listening to a song that gives you feelings about your muse.

Favourite types of threads: Any thread is a good thread to me so long as there’s some kind of chemistry between both the characters and writers -- sometimes that requires more work OOC, like you gotta check if you’re on the same page or something, and that’s fine so long as the writers are open to honest communication. The only thing is that I find ‘slice of life’ or non angsty threads difficult to write lengthily, so I just prefer to keep those ones a little shorter most’ve the time, at least on my end. 

Biggest struggle in regards to your current muse: The lack of Norma’s and Norman’s willing to write (frequently/regularly) with me is 100% my biggest struggle, no doubt about it. I truly hate having to come up with their parts of the narrative without having a mun I’m close with to consult with -- like if I want to come up with an AU, it’s a real struggle for me to think of other canons’ parts that must be included in Dylan’s backgrounds because I’m not comfortable or confident in assuming I’m doing right by other characters... that if the opportunity ever did arise by some miracle that a Norman or Norma wanted to join that verse, they wouldn’t immediately cringe at whatever I’d already established for them. This applies to all Bates canons, really, but mostly Norman and Norma as luckily I do have some Emma’s I get to write with and Dylan’s mom and brother are the other two most important and integral people in his life.
