Carving knife is finished! I'm so happy with the way this came out. To be honest, painting kinda scares me. But with all the practice I've gotten, I feel a lot better doing it now than when I first started. It's a great feeling to improve a skill that you want to work on, so I encourage anyone and everyone to keep practicing! Just waiting on the foam to dry and I'll fix up the horns. I've been using foam clay for most of this project and I gotta say, I love working with it. Here's that tutorial I was talking about. It's my first time making a little tutorial but I tried making it as clear as possible. I hope it helps! 1. Cut out a base piece from 6mm foam, draw a marking where you want to place the spines. 2. Using one strip of 5mm and 10mm round dowels, cut the strips to match the length of spines. 5mm dowels for the small spines, 10 mm for the larger spine at the top. 3. Cut out another base piece but with 2mm foam instead, no need for markings. 4. Apply a light coat of contact cement to the 6mm base piece, another light coat on the 5mm dowels, and another coat onto the 2mm base piece (Make sure to flip it over, or your contact cement will be on the wrong side) 5. Carefully place your 5mm dowels onto the 6mm base piece, matching the markings you drew on earlier. 6. Take the 2mm base piece and place it on top of your 6mm base piece with 5mm dowels already glued on. Use your hands to smooth out the foam around the dowels to give it a natural look. 7. Apply a light coat of contact cement on the top of your base piece and another coat onto the 10mm dowel. 8. Take the 10mm dowel and place it on top of the base piece.
