tbh i'd probably read a lot of x reader fics if it weren't for the fact that most of them mischaracterize the character involved

#like i dont care about the y/n being mischaracterized i cant expect em to know me #but like. hello. if you're gonna do this at least write the character somewhat in character #like if you're gonna do a yandere take on a character there are ways to make that fit into-#-a character's normal characterization. its possible.#but no like. you could read three different stories of three different characters #and they'll all be characterized as a yandere in the exact same way #<- using yandere as an example here cause its the most common one for some reason #but the POINT IS. they don't actually know the character well enough to write them properly #they just think the character looks attractive and are projecting a personality they find attractive #onto the character #which most of the time does not mesh well with the character's actual characterization #and i will admit not all of them do this. there are a few diamonds in the rough #but like. the number of x reader fics ive found and have thought of as being in character #like... there's less than five of them thats for sure #and its CRAZY to me cause the whole idea of an x reader should start from like. you love that character a lot #like its meant to be about loving that character soooo much.#but like. it really doesn't feel that way??#it feels like you took the character and turned them into Edward from Twilight like why would you DO THAT??#(notably i have not read/seen Twilight this is about Vibes)

was talking with a friend about how some of dunmeshi fаndom misunderstands kabru's initial feelings towards laios.

to sum up kabru's situation via a self-contained modernized metaphor:

kabru is like a guy who lost his entire family in a highly traumatic car accident. years later he joins a discord server and takes note of laios, another server member who seems interesting, so they start chatting. then laios reveals his special interest and favorite movie of all time is David Cronenberg's Crash (1996), and invites kabru to go watch a demolition derby with him

#dungeon meshi #delicious in dungeon #kabru #kabru already added laios as a discord friend. everyone else in the server can see laios excitedly asking kabru to go with him #what would You even Do in this situation. how would YOU feel?#basically: kabru isnt a laios-hater! hes just in shock bc Thats His Trauma. the key part is kabru still says yes #bc he wants to get to know laios. to understand why laios would be so fascinated by something horrific to him #and ALSO bc even while in shock kabru can still tell laios has unique expertise + knowledge that Could be used for Good #even if kabru doesnt fully trust laios yet (bc kabru just started talking to the guy 2 hours ago. they barely know each other)#kabru also understands that getting to know ppl (esp laios) means having to get to know their passions. even if it triggers his trauma here #but thats too much to fit in this metaphor/analogy. this is NOT an AU! its not supposed to cover everything abt kabru or laios' character!#its a self-contained metaphor written Specifically to be more easily relatable+thus easy to understand for general ppl online #(ie. assumed discord users. hence why i said (a non-specific) 'discord server' and not something specific like 'car repair subreddit')#its for ppl who mightve not fully grasped kabru's character+intentions and think hes being mean/'chaotic'/murderous.#to place ppl in kabru's shoes in an emotionally similar situation thats more possible/grounded in irl experiences and contexts.#and also for the movie punchline #mynn.txt #dm text #crossposting my tweets onto here since my friends suggested so

I want more female characters who are just so bad at comforting others. Not for lack of trying or caring, they just get so so awkward when someone's upset, and they try to repeat things they've heard even if it doesn't necessarily apply to the situation, or they accidentally say the wrong thing and make it worse. If someone cries they panic and throw every single comfort technique down at once and it only helps because it's such bizarre behaviour

#Basically I'm tired of female characters having the inherent “good helper/wise advisor” trait just bc they're women #And I'm also tired of the faux progressive female characters who have no emotion whatsoever #People seem to think the opposite of being a good caretaker is just not caring #No no #The opposite of being a good caretaker is not knowing which care to take and when or how.#Throwing water onto an oil fire. Putting blankets over someone who is claustrophobic. Recommending family time to an orphan. Etc.#I want a female character who will be up with you until 3am because you're struggling #But she can't stop quoting Mister Rogers because she has NO idea what to say #Even if she's experienced the same things she just has no idea how to convey any wisdom through words #Etc
