Since you had trouble sleeping, you often took melatonin to help get you down for the night. Sometimes they wouldn't work as well as others, so to avoid the possibility of disrupted rest, you would take a pill just after dinner. The technique has worked many times before, and since you had to be up early tomorrow, you were hoping this would also be the case again tonight.

While Tangerine cleared the table, you rushed to your room to collect your sleep pills before he could return. You take one on your way downstairs and sat back down.

"I got’ya ice cream earlier. You want it now, or in a bit?" your boyfriend calls from the kitchen, poking his head out to see you.

"Now," you grin, nodding at him. "Get me a spoon?"

"Lemme go for a piss quick," he smiles, kissing the crown of your head as he walks past. "Only a minute."

You notice the pills in your hand, shaking one out and swallowing before the realisation hits- you took one already.

"Y'know I was tellin’ ya about that prick at the shop—" Tangerine starts, abruptly stopping when he sees your hunched-over body. "Babe?" he asks, his tone cautious as he shakes your arm. "Hun? What's goin' on?" 

He walks around the table and instantly notices the tablets spilt over the surface, a soft smile creeping on his face. 

"You plonker," he says quietly, slipping his arms underneath you, bringing you to his chest. "This is the third time this month." He lightly chuckles, taking you to your shared bedroom. 

He carries you carefully, supporting your head and walking sideways through doors so you don't get knocked and bumped. He gently places you down on the bed, laying you on the mattress with a sweet kiss on your forehead. 

Tangerine leaves the room and returns minutes later with a t-shirt, damp cloth and face cream. Considering you both had a day at home, you weren't wearing makeup, so he used the washcloth to freshen you up. He knew your nighttime routine like the back of his hand, so he still wanted to implement that as best as he can even though you were fast asleep. He delicately swipes the fabric over your face, wiping away before patting in your cream- the same way he's seen you do a hundred times. 

Next, he undresses you. Since you've been together for a while, it was nothing he hadn't seen before, but still, he gave you moments of privacy. He places one of his t-shirts over your head, positioning your arms in the sleeves before rolling the oversized fabric down your torso. 

"You're gonna have shit breath in the morning," he whispers, snickering to himself. He lowers to kiss your temple and pushes your hair behind your ears, tucking the covers around you. "G'night, darlin'." He smiles, flicking off the light as he leaves the room.

- they have very different music tastes (i hc jay listens to kpop and cole to 80s rock & new wave) and theyll always talk about how bad the others music taste is but secretly they actually like it… (jays kpop playlist got a save once and he was trying to figure out who it was and cole was like whoever it is has the worst music taste in the world) (it was cole who saved it) (also vice versa)

- they play every game and watch every show together and when one of them starts something without the other they get offended 😭😭

- speaking of watching cole cant handle anything scary at all but sometimes jay will somehow convince him to and always puts on the scariest stuff because he thinks its cute when cole jumps 😭

- jay still sleeps with his plushies so when they cuddle jay is spooning his plush and cole is spooning him and sometimes cole lays on jays chest

- they playfight and wrestle a lot and sometimes get seriously hurt while doing it

- they play dancing games tgt… like just dance and ddr

- also i think jay deffo dances to stim (totally not self projecting here) and his dance moves are always a bit silly so cole will copy them and jay is like are my making fun of me >:( and cole is like yeah maybe i am

- on the topic of stims they deffo mimic each other a whole lot in the sense theyll copy each others vocal stims and it annoys the hell out of everyone else because theyll say the same silly phrase over and over again for weeks 😭😭

- i also hc them both as chronically ill (jay is hypermobile and cole has arthritis) and sometimes after especially hard training days they will give each other back rubs/massages…

- they arealso borh very smart separately but when you put them together they become super stupid and lose all their brain cells

you know what. thank you to @rovercat ‘s post (sorry for the ping, but i would like to express gratitude) for reminding me of the Mogami Arc essay (slightly loose term) i had written (turns out it was fully written already LMAO) and abandoned because i forgot about it

so here’s the thing in full. apologies for the lack of pictures and the over-abundance of words ,,,

okay.. i know i always throw around the fact that i love the Mogami arc so much and when people ask usually i’m like LMAO BECAUSE ANGST but genuinely? there’s another reason.

there’s just something about being pushed down to rock bottom and being on the brink of becoming what you think is the lowest of the low… and having your perception of morality altered from there.

like listen. Shigeo’s rule of Never Use Powers Against Others is set in soft stone by none other than Arataka Reigen, and it’s reinforced by the alleyway incident with ??? emerging and hurting Ritsu in the process. up until this point his entire theory of how to be a good person like Reigen told him to a few years ago is… do not use your powers. the only exception he’s made is for his brother and it was a pretty reasonable,,, yk,,, his brother got beat up and kidnapped,,, like i would excuse myself for that too.

but enter Keiji Mogami who Challenges that rule. Shigeo has been able to adhere to that rule in his reality because he’s surrounded by good people who will support and defend him, so he has no reason to do it himself with his powers… now Mogami’s world treats him to a whole 180° where he doesn’t have powers, but practically every single person there is such a goddamn piece of fucking shit toward him that he starts wishing he had the power to defend himself. to fight back. to teach them a lesson, even. and when Mogami grants him that power after 6 months of hell… like come on. he’s fourteen. of course he’s going to get influenced. and he did—he had already made the decision to hurt Asagiri.

yeah i don’t know about you but to me that definitely sounds like a kid ready to succumb to using power 

but then comes Dimple, who snaps him out of it, and he never truly lays a finger on Asagiri… but he’d already made the decision that it would be okay to do that, before Dimple stepped in. Shigeo has already lost to Mogami…

Mogami thinks the world is abhorrent. he’s had his own spoonfuls of poison that give him this view: the world is full of malicious humans who do bad and get away with it, so why not punish them? they are the people who should suffer the negative consequences, and it’s not wrong to wield your power to give them those consequences. they deserve it. it’s necessary, essential to punish wrongdoers. he wants Shigeo, one of the most powerful espers in the series, to empathise with his view. and he does. Mogami influences Shigeo to hurt someone. But it’s Dimple that influences him not to carry through with it, and here’s what i really want to expand upon.

influence is a powerful thing, but it’s not about winning or losing to influence; to me, this arc is (at least partially) about what influences you. what shapes you to be the person you are? what experiences lead you to bad deeds? what events lead you to good actions?

Mogami and Shigeo have both touched on this; it’s partially up to luck to decide whether you’re surrounded with good or bad people, and whether you grow up with good or bad influences… and those will shape you as a person. you don’t put all the blame on a person for their actions, because there’s another question to ask after ‘are their actions good or bad?’—‘why do they do this?’

reality is chock full of these examples, big or small. as a child who had great expectations (Dickens!) put on him, i grew up to be a person conscious of my achievements and how others perceive me; many of my actions have the purpose of keeping up an impression i want to withhold of myself.

but let’s shrink back from reality to anime—Teruki Hanazawa, a boy unlucky enough to have absent parents who don’t give him the love he needs, abusing his powers for a perfect world where he is acknowledged, praised, worshipped. Katsuya Serizawa, a man unlucky enough to be given powers he doesn’t know how to control, shutting himself in his room until he is manipulated by Toichirou Suzuki and dragged out of his room to become a terrorist. Fuck it—Yusuke Sakurai, who never experienced the good of society as a young child, feeling the need to put himself in an organisation who claims to be above society, to take over the world because to absolute hell with a society who’s never treated him well. They’ve all got their backstories, the things that shaped them into what they became in their futures. And each of them were also influenced by others to become better versions of themselves: Teruki and Serizawa by Shigeo, and Sakurai by Reigen.

it’s easy to put the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ labels on people, but i think that the Mogami Arc is against doing this so simply. the ability to empathise with one’s environment and experiences is the most important thing here. it’s what Shigeo learns from how he has been influenced by the people around him, but ultimately, Mogami, someone who had managed to make him a ‘bad person’ who was willing to hurt, even if only for a short while. it’s also why i think that the Mogami Arc is integral to how the World Domination Arc played out—Shigeo empathises with Toichirou. he offers to be someone to talk to, and up until 100% Resignation, attempts again and again to make Toichirou see that there is a way out of the lonely world both of them have seen and lived in, to make Toichirou willing to turn over a new leaf. and even after that, how he tries to absorb Toichirou’s energy to let him have a chance at apologising to his family, to become a better person by righting his wrongs… how to use his empathy is something that Shigeo learns from this arc, i think.

the Mogami Arc is also a testimony to Shigeo’s kindness. 

「まだ最低な浅桐さんを助けてないんだから。」

“I’ve yet to save that horrible Asagiri-san.” 

she’s been a horrendous character to him. Shigeo knows this full well, and yet he still tries his fucking hardest to save her. when he’s met with a vile personality like Toichirou’s, he displays remarkable insistence of trying to talk to him, to empathise with the world he lives in, no matter how much Toichirou hurts him in spite of his kind intentions. (if only he could grant himself this kindness earlier.) 

like, shit. the world sure can be horrible. but the bitterness that Mogami carries doesn’t fix shit; it’s Shigeo’s faith in the power of influence and relationships between people that does. by being a kind person, he’s able to influence others to change, at least a little, for the better. Asagiri and Toichirou are good examples of this. it’s also neat fucking proof that people rely on each other, because influence comes from each other!!

so in short: i fucking adore the Mogami arc because of how it explores empathy and kindness, and ties them together. how Shigeo can change others with his kindness, and how we learn that we’re capable of changing others for the better, so why not try do to that?

his voice is sooooo great, and i have warmed up a bit to him, but all the same. he's just not my type physicality wise, but i think i get the appeal. i also thought it was really sweet they let him have that soft moment with his parents in heaven where his dad tells him how proud he was and all that. (assuming it wasn't all a hallucination, but i digress,) i would've expected them to show his dad giving him a hard time one last time before he came back to earth, but i'm happy the comics let him have this :)

the cop out answer is "well obviously the fire-brandishing character is the hottest-" but that's lame to me. it's honestly REALLY hard for me to see them as attractive or "dateable" just bc I project "my child" onto them. I've mentioned before, but i don't like them bc i wanna fuck them, i wanna protect them like a mother. i wanna feed them a homecooked stew with a wooden spoon, i wanna make crayon drawings with them, tell them bedtime stories, hand-stich him a stuffed animal, yk that sort of vibe. i do care for them a lot, but not in a romantic sense tbh.

I'm putting them together bc they are only really attractive to me when they're drawn with bulk-muscle. the idea of either of them packing on lean muscle is so weird to me. but they just feel like such living embodiments of "just here for a good time," and honestly? sometimes that's all you need :) If i HAD to put one above the other, I would put Demo over Solder, bc i ADORE fanart and official art that give him that cute little drunken lazy smile. it's just such a little thing that is so endearing to me!

i will never get tired of this guy <3 he's the living embodiment of "southern comfort," and much like medic, it's not at all surprising people love him so much. no one else has his character's incredible dichotomy of, sweet and gentle, while also able to deal out insane levels of violence (heavy comes close, but he doesn't quiet have engie's soft approachable disposition). definitely got the short end of the stick in the comics imo, as we don't get to see much of his family (or rather him interacting WITH his family) but in game at least he gives them lot's of shout-outs which is nice, but honestly makes me want to see them all the more! he's such a whore for all those cozy knit-wear cosmetics too. he's perfect in every way, he makes my heart flutter, he has never done anything wrong in his life ever, i would die to protect him.

perhaps surprising no one, amon is the Kisser between them. he looks for ANY excuse to kiss hya meanwhile, hya is less affectionate in that regard (and kind of in general, but he never really Stops amon which is the key LMAO).

favorite places that amon likes to kiss: hya’s nose (annoys him), cheeks (annoys him), thighs, 🍌, tits (but that’s more of a Sucking Endeavor), hands/fingers, and the back of his neck. he really enjoys quick kisses as just a show of affection, but he also Loves deep spine tingling kisses that make him a lil’ drunk off them.

i start my case with this specific scene right here:

we already know merlins can use aether for something other than as a weapon or something to attack.

and we also know roughly how limiting or powerful merlins or magegaurd can be, as seen here:

so what im saying is that yes they could technically forge a plane but it would take intense focus and probably multiple merlins. and it wouldn't last for long as well, because like wards are buy-once-use-for-as-long-as-shadowborns-dont-eat-it but planes will be a different thing you have to cast it, use it and make it stay. and for the plane to be functional aka for it to fly it would need a shit ton of aether to make the whole yk engine and stuff so all in all it would be a tedious job. too many casualties of merlins.

however, yk what they could use aether for other than this?? roller skates. easy to make, small and compact, and hella useful to go from one place to other. heck they could even forge ramps if they are on the run in cars or something, or like speedbreakers so the cars behind them would get knocked off their tires. (this went in the direction of attack but umm how about we think of parkour??).

sel already cast forty smol objects and can reinforce them whenever and remotely, so i mean ofc he could do that for something else:

they could also technically use aether to make jewelry, i mean how cool would it be to have your own piece of something to take with you. or like a small something for a special someone, but yeah it would take a lot of focus to keep them together so maybe like a trip souvernier, something to remind you of. (*cough* selwyn forging an aether ring for bree when she goes for a tour outside of south carolina to calm her by his scent *cough*).

i mean the possibilities are there, selwyn created life support constructs for god's sake merlins are just raised to be a weapon if they were allowed to be anything else it would be a lot better. Their eyes met Raph’s green hues, wavering with an emotion they couldn’t quite pinpoint just yet.

Raph stiffened up visibly, his fists clenching—not out of anger, of course. He would never hurt you, and you were all too aware of that.

There was no way he didn’t slip SOMETHING strange into here!

“ Y/N, when have I ever made anything that wasn’t a MASTERPIECE, now try it! “

Mikey held a spoonful to Y/N, prompting them to accept spoon-fed food with a giggle that caused a certain red-bandana’d turtle to stir from his nappy-nap on the couch. It was here that he’d see the much-too-homey exchange between Mikey and Y/N—one that quickly dissolved into a screaming chase with the following dialogue:

This memory ended with you leaping into Raph’s embrace—which almost didn’t work if his reflexes hadn’t caught you. Your face buried into his shoulder, muffling your screams, led you to not notice the soft smile that he had for a second before then deciding to protect you from your assailant!

Now this memory had Y/N glancing back to Raph to defend themselves, like “ hey, I did do this! cut me some slack, will ya? ” but that was halted by the last memory of the week stirring.

Y/N had come to the lair for a specific reason this time—a movie night planned for just them and Raph! Saturdays were always for the two of them, and they had never missed one!

That is, until tonight. They sidetracked for Leo, expecting it to truly be just a second or two and then straight to Raph’s room!

Instead, you had managed to spend nearly the entire night being scolded, lectured, and then trained by Leo. He had a point for most of it—you weren’t the most perceptive at times, and there was a point this week where it had almost cost you. The brothers had an unfortunate run in with the latest mutated victim, some sort of … possum monster? Well, you had obviously been heading back home from an after-school event when a tail shot towards you and coiled tightly around your waist.

There was only a few seconds for you to understand what was going on. A blur in your peripheral, a tightness around your waist, and a shout that you recognized—Raph! Your head turned to see him with a hand outstretched to you before your frame was lifted from the sidewalk and into the air. A startled screech left your mouth at the sudden whirling danger.

Thankfully, they resolved it quickly, but you hadn’t noticed how Raph huffed under his breath when Leo saved you. It made him uncomfortable how your arms reached out for Leo instead of him! Of course, that was dumb to be jealous about because at least you were safe and Leo always was a bit faster when it came to saving folks, but still! He knew it was dumb to be angry, but he wanted you to save those open arms for him. He wanted to be your knight, your hero, not Leo.

So, with those memories floating in their mind, Y/N patted beside them for Raph to sit. By now, the tablet had shut off, leaving the two in silence while surrounded by materials and a little somethin’-somethin’ that was covertly slid right on behind their back.

Not well enough, though!

“ What’s that? “

Raph asked, suspicious of what Y/N decided just HAD to be hidden right this second.

“ I’m sorry—I realize I may have been a tad bit … “

Y/N’s body shifted, facing Raph—swiftly ensuring the hidden treat stayed out of his gaze, of course— then raised their hand to cup his cheek as soft as a kiss as their thumb stroked him lovingly. He leaned into it, albeit still with the long, pouting face and emerald eyes that tried to fixate on the floor but always returned to your own gorgeous hues.

“ I have been a bit negligent with our time… I’m sorry about that, but do know that you’ve been on my mind the entire time! I swear. “

“ Psh, yeah, and that’s why you hung out with my brothers instead? Why you seem to give them more attention? More of your time? “

His voice may have seemed frightening to anyone else, but not you. No, you knew the truth of his tone. Raph wasn’t angry, he was simply worried. Worried you might see more in his brothers, the ones who were much more “ in control “ of their emotions, or at least more than he was. He was just the hothead, and he was just afraid that would scare you away.

Y/N gave a nervous grin and twiddled their fingers.

“ That was more so a minor hiccup on my part, but here, I can prove it. “

From behind their back, Y/N held up a little turtle plushie. The nervous grin seemed to get wider as they rocked it back and forth with a sing-songy hum. While it had the cute shell on its back, the front plastron was more so like cute little overalls (which totally wasn’t because you may or may not have hiccuped on the steps, not at all, completely on purpose.) there were little dark green buttons as eyes—which you were still iffy about— but not yet a mouth.

“ I got a bit distracted… But, I’ve been trying to do this—you know, since I know the incident with Spike, er, Slash? I know you really loved him, so I figured, ‘hey, what if I made him something?’ A-And what better than a—umph! “

Your spiel was cut short as Raph hugged you suddenly, tightly. Silence followed, up until the softest “ thank you ” escaped him. You loosened up, hugging him back with a growing grin and laughs welling up in your chest.

“ I take it you like it? “

“ … I’m … sorry. “

Whispered ever so quietly was his apology, which you assumed was because of his earlier jealousy. The held-back laughs slipped out as your hold on him tightened comfortably.

At that nickname, you felt him stiffen for a second, as if contemplating something, before then wordlessly loosening up. Instead, his finger started tracing little circles upon your shoulder blade, hesitating to speak.

♡ Dabi and Keigo spoil you so much! You’re their precious darling after all. They have a lot of money as they’re very powerful in the mafia, and half of that money is spent on you. A lavish room, designer clothing and jewelry, anything you want! Keigo gives you so many gifts in hopes that that will make you less afraid of him. Dabi just gives you gifts to see you all pretty and surrounded by pretty things.

♡ They’re both very possessive however they don’t mind if you walk around the secluded mansion that you and they live in (as well as a few of their underlings but they aren’t allowed near you). You can go wherever you want with permission, although you are never allowed in the basement. The basement is where Keigo and Dabi do their ‘work’ so you’re never allowed to even look down there.

♡ Dabi and Keigo have only ever hurt you one time and that was the same night that they took you. They both decided they wanted to mark you with their names, but knowing how much it would hurt they tried to get it over with as soon as possible. They took turns marking you, Dabi burning his name into your left thigh as Keigo comforted you. And after that Keigo carves his name into your left thigh with one of his sharpened feathers as Dabi tried to comfort you. They spent a few minutes afterwards giving you words of encouragement and cleaning up your wounds slightly.

♡ Of course after that you were terrified of both of them. Dabi had wanted to stay with you but Keigo was the reasonable one for once and convinced him (not easily) that you needed time. However they had left you in your already decorated room, one of the things in that room was a rabbit stuffed animal. You had held it against you the whole night and after that it became your comfort item, often being with you during your first few weeks/months of captivity.

♡ They had given you your own room as a place where you could go calm down or hide away from the screams from the basement or looks from their underlings. You can even close the door and lock it, although Dabi and Keigo both carry keys on them. The room is very comfortable most of the room was soft and padded, because of that it almost feel infantilizing. Things like stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, silk curtains, and even a soft yet extravagant bed canopy are all in your room.

♡ Dabi keeps a chain around your ankle for the first few weeks. It’s long enough for you to walk around your room in however that was all. Keigo thought you could walk around on your own although Dabi thinks otherwise, him needing to know that you won’t try to run away. Even the ankle bound is expensive, soft padding on the inside to make sure it wouldn’t dig into your soft skin.

♡ Dabi and Keigo aren’t to strict, although there are a few things that they won’t except. Don’t ignore them, don’t try to escape, don’t go down into the basement, and don’t speak to any of their underlings. Speaking of which if any of their underlings talk to you, you’re meant to call for Dabi and Keigo right away. They’ll take care of them, they’re never supposed to interact with you.

♡ They’re very sweet to you, often taking you with them everywhere they can. Even in meetings, sitting on either Dabi or Keigo’s laps. Although if they think you’ve been bratty or misbehaving lately, you get to sit in the floor next to them although they’ll allow you to rest your head in one of their laps. Either of them is probably with with you at all times, unless they’re ‘working’.
