Rini's tone was firm. "I like existing. I'm not ready to unexist just because of stupid causality. I didn't invite stupid causality to my birthday party, it doesn't get to give me any presents."
"I'm not sure causality works that way, but sure," said Kade wearily. "Let's just get to where we're going, and we'll see."

November Book Club Picks
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster: When perpetually bored Milo receives a mysterious package that contains a very extraordinary tollbooth, he’s transported to the Kingdom of Wisdom, where he soon sets out on a quest to restore Rhyme and Reason to the land. One of my favorite “stranger in a strange land” books, and wholly underrated by fantasy fans.
The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home by Joseph Fink and Jeffery Cranor: The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home has been in Night Vale for as long as anyone can remember, but how exactly did she get there? Who was she before she became what she is now, always hiding just out of the corner of your eye? A Welcome to Night Vale supplemental novel, but don’t feel like you have to listen to eight years of podcast in order to appreciate the story (although I highly recommend it because WtNV is a great podcast).
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides: No one knows why Alicia Berenson shot her husband that. Alicia herself certainly isn’t telling anyone what happened that bizarre night, since she hasn’t spoken since the night of the crime. When Theo Faber, a psychologist who takes a keen interest in Alicia’s case, takes charge of her care, he begins to realize that there’s more to the murder, and Alicia, than he ever realized.
Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire: A mysterious girl in a gown of sugar falls headfirst into the pond behind Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children, and that’s not even the strangest part. No, what’s really strange is that she claims to be Rini, the daughter of Onishi Sumi, and Sumi...well, she’s rather dead at the moment. And with Sumi being dead, the Queen of Cakes has no chance to be defeated and Rini could very well be wiped from existence entirely. The students of the Home for Wayward Children must break the “no quests” rule to save the land of Confection before it’s too late.
Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man by Mary L. Trump, Ph. D.: An in-depth look at the soon-to-be-former president Donald Trump’s upbringing and family history, in an attempt not only to explain why he might have turned out the way he is, but to shatter any lingering notions that he’s anything other than a blowhard failure who’s been coasting through life on family money and second chances he doesn’t deserve.
