Introduction Alright, folks, let's get into it. The OnePlus Open is here, and if you're like me, you're probably wondering—does this foldable bring the heat, or is it just another flashy gadget? With everyone trying to get in on the foldable game, OnePlus finally threw its hat in the ring, and boy, they've made some bold moves. Stick around as we dive deep into what makes the OnePlus Open tick, from the slick design to the nitty-gritty of everyday use. Product Overview The OnePlus Open ain’t your regular smartphone; it’s a foldable that aims to merge style and functionality. On the outside, you've got a sleek outer display that fits nicely in your hand. But open it up, and boom, you're looking at a big ol' 7.8-inch inner screen that’s just begging for multitasking, gaming, or whatever else you throw at it. It's packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen chip, and let’s just say it’s got the muscle to back up that size. Key Features: Design: Compact yet sturdy, OnePlus managed to keep it light without feeling cheap. Display: Dual screens, with the inner one being a vibrant AMOLED that makes everything pop. Performance: Snapdragon 8 Gen processor—think speed and smooth multitasking. Battery Life: 4800mAh battery, with fast charging. Not bad for a foldable, but there's room for improvement. Performance and User Experience When it comes to performance, the OnePlus Open is no slouch. Apps launch in a snap, and multitasking feels effortless thanks to that snappy processor and ample RAM. The folding mechanism is smooth, with no creaks or wobbles here, which is a relief if you’re shelling out this kinda cash. Gaming on the OnePlus Open is a blast too—the big screen makes for an immersive experience, whether you're deep into a mobile game or just spree-watching Netflix. But let’s keep it real—not everything’s perfect. The software, while mostly polished, has a few hiccups, especially with apps not fully optimized for that big screen. It's not a deal-breaker, but it’s something to keep in mind if you're hoping for a flawless out-of-the-box experience. Pros and Cons Alright, time to break down the good, the bad, and the “meh.” Comparison with Competitors Now, you might be wondering—how does the OnePlus Open stack up against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold or the Google Pixel Fold? In terms of price, it’s a bit more wallet-friendly than Samsung's flagship foldables, but still up there. Performance-wise, it holds its own, but Samsung’s had more time to fine-tune its foldables, giving it a slight edge in polish and ecosystem integration. Customer Feedback and Reviews So what’s the word on the street? Early reviews of the OnePlus Open are pretty positive. Users are digging the design and display, with many praising its sturdiness compared to other foldables they've handled. Complaints? Mainly around battery life and app optimization, which echoes our thoughts. But overall, it’s getting a thumbs-up from those who’ve taken the plunge. Pricing and Value Is the OnePlus Open worth your hard-earned cash? Well, it’s not cheap, but if you’re after a foldable that stands out and doesn’t completely break the bank like some of its competitors, it’s worth a look. OnePlus is known for offering solid value, and while this is pricier than its usual fare, the premium feel and performance do add up to a decent deal. Comparison with Competitors So, how does the OnePlus Open stack up against the competition? Let’s dive into the foldable arena and see how it fares against big players like Samsung and Google. OnePlus Open vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Price: The OnePlus Open comes in a bit cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which might sway budget-conscious buyers. Samsung's foldables are known for being on the pricier side, so if you're looking to save a few bucks, OnePlus is giving you a reason to pause. Display: Both have gorgeous AMOLED displays, but Samsung's had a longer time to refine its tech.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 offers a slightly smoother hinge mechanism and a more polished user interface optimized for the foldable experience. However, the OnePlus Open’s inner screen is a touch larger, which might appeal to users who want more screen real estate for multitasking. Build Quality: Samsung's foldables are known for their solid build, and the Z Fold 5 is no exception, with a well-tested hinge and durable materials. OnePlus, though new to the game, has nailed the premium feel and robustness of the Open. It’s sturdy, but only time will tell how it holds up to everyday wear and tear. Software Experience: Samsung's got a head start here. Their One UI is super smooth on foldable, with features that make the most of that big screen. The OnePlus Open has a few hiccups with app optimization and software polish—nothing major, but you’ll notice it if you’ve used a Z Fold before. OnePlus Open vs. Google Pixel Fold Camera: Google’s Pixel Fold takes the cake when it comes to camera performance. It brings the Pixel's famous computational photography magic, making it a standout choice for those who want a foldable without sacrificing camera quality. The OnePlus Open has solid cameras, but it doesn’t quite reach Pixel’s level, especially in low-light situations. Design and Usability: The Pixel Fold opts for a wider outer display, making it easier to use when folded. In contrast, the OnePlus Open sticks with a more traditional aspect ratio, which some might find more pocketable but a bit cramped when folded. Open them up, though, and you get a large inner screen on both devices—perfect for multitasking. Performance: Both devices pack powerful processors, but the OnePlus Open edges out with a newer Snapdragon chipset, making it slightly better for heavy-duty tasks and gaming. The Pixel Fold, while fast, is more about the overall Google ecosystem integration and software experience. Value for Money: Google’s foldable comes with the Pixel perks like a seamless Android experience and regular updates, but you’re paying a premium for that. The OnePlus Open aims to strike a balance between price and features, making it a compelling choice for those not want to splurge too much but still want a flagship foldable. Bottom Line In the end, the OnePlus Open is an impressive first shot at a foldable from a brand that's usually known for offering good value. While it doesn’t completely outshine its competitors, it definitely holds its own, especially when you factor in the price. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 5 still sets the standard for foldable, especially if you’re after a super refined user experience, while the Google Pixel Fold offers something special for those who prioritize camera and software above all else. But if you’re willing to embrace a few quirks, the OnePlus Open is a fresh and compelling alternative that shouldn’t be overlooked. Final Verdict: Recommend or Not? So, should you go for the OnePlus Open? If you're into cutting-edge tech and want something that turns heads, then heck yeah—go for it. It’s not perfect, and there’s room for improvement, but it’s a solid first entry into the foldable market from OnePlus. If you can live with the quirks, this could be the foldable for you. If not, maybe keep an eye on the next version—they're off to a strong start, and it's only up from here. Ready to Make the Switch? Thinking about jumping into the world of foldables? The OnePlus Open might just be your perfect match. Whether you’re after that extra screen space for productivity, a fresh design that stands out, or just something different from the usual slab phones, the OnePlus Open offers a compelling package without breaking the bank as much as its competitors. Don't wait—experience the future of smartphones with the OnePlus Open. Check it out, compare, and see if it's the foldable you've been waiting for. Ready to make the switch? Your next-gen phone is just a click away!

Note 10 and the first look at Samsung Galaxy Note 10 +: modest overhauls come at a high price
That the costly fresh Galaxy Note 10 leading cell phones that Samsung discovered today at Brooklyn's Barclays Center property with usually little pomp, despite the NBA environment, may not be the most exceedingly terrible thing.
The starting points Note 10 and Note 10 + on August 23 cost approximately $950 and $1,100 individually, with Verizon's 5 G 10 + rendition elite (for now) starting at $1,300. (Preorders begin shortly after 12 p.m., 8 Aug.)
The news gadgets have positive characteristics, strong specifications (larger battery, plus memory) and impressive narrow-edge shows with decreased bezels and humble headphones.
But what Samsung brings here at first glance are mostly incremental function upgrades that are honestly unlikely to wow anyone. And unfortunately, Samsung is following Apple's lead in removing the conventional headphone jack, although the box includes AKG USB-C headphones.
High-priced telephones are a problem for consumers
I'm still returning to the cost. The fresh notes are costly but no less costly than the competing iPhones from Apple are likely to cost when they surface next month. Either way, Samsung does not request that you give up around 2,000 people for what is worth for a Galaxy fold in September after the lengthy delay that has been activated by presentation problems. It may be a problem to get you to pay for a premium mobile phone with a four-digits share. The US user of Samsung will get extra features of USA news through this feed.
Use Notes Heavily
The Note used to be Samsung's leader, who seemed to expand and test the containment points for what customers might need – that task is presently being placed on the Fold, no matter.
That Note was the main handset for advancing the now omnipresent classification of phablet phones, supposed to fit somewhere between a huge cell phone presentation and a tiny screen tablet. Samsung's Note customers turned into its most dependable by their nearly mammoth screens and S Pen stylus.
That devotion was widely placed only three years ago under a magnifying glass when a few batteries on Note 7 found a flame that compelled Samsung to finally kill the model. The reliable note remained with the organization and daily world news alert.
Large screens, the form factor of modest size
The new Note 10 has an amazing 6.3-inch show and Note 10 + a ginormous 6.8-inch display, with the first run through Samsung bringing out fresh two-size notes. For examination reasons – a 5.3-inch display had that distinctive Note.
The present there are plenty of adversary telephones with liberal screen sizes and Samsung's very own Galaxy S10+ that turned out in March has a 6.4-inch screen, and the S10+ 5G, an enormous 6.7-inch show.
Improved style of S pen
In contrast to the Galaxy S arrangement gadgets, the Note differentiator continues to be the S Pen, and Samsung made some modest upgrades to its stylus on Note 10.
Through the "Air Activity" movements of Bluetooth Low Energy, you can control music playback or the camera from a corner –hold a grip on the pen and turn it, for example, to have the camera on a tripod zoom. Samsung is likewise opening up this S Pen motion capacity to designers.
You can now convert this handwriting to text and export the outcomes to Microsoft Word when you jot notes on the screen with the S Pen, something you could always do.
In a short exam, even my lousy handwriting was acknowledged by the phone and properly transformed, lacking only on the spacing between two phrases.
You can also use the S Pen to help you edit video more accurately. Samsung also created it simpler to link the notes to a Windows PC and to highlight the cooperation between his company and Microsoft, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella joined Samsung's CEO DJ Koh on the Brooklyn stage.
New functions of the camera
Samsung has included a Live Focus Video on the video front that highlights the organization saying it will add deep-field improvements to obscure the basis and allow you to focus on your main topic. Another zoom-in mic helps to intensify the noise to anyone or anything in the casing, potentially valuable if you state that you record actors in a small scene.
Additionally, there is another extended reality doodle that will offer you the opportunity to draw meaningless faces over a person, and a 3D scanner to capture items that you can later print on a 3D printer.
In addition, Samsung claims the front camera has added a night mode highlight to shoot selfies in diminishing light.
It's premature to say how well any of these highlights will toll on Apple, Google, Huawei, and OnePlus handsets, or how the Note 10 camera measures up to other Samsung gadgets or strong cell phone cameras.
Greater Battery
Samsung will inform you that effectiveness ordered Note customers will generally arrange batteries to the exclusion of all else and the Note 10 + the battery is larger than Note 9, regardless of the similar structure factor. The telephones are ready to charge quickly, with the Note 10 + ready to last as the day progresses, Samsung says, after only half an hour of charging, if you're up to a discretionary higher limit charger.
Like other late Samsung phones, by putting them over the Notes, you can charge extras remotely, such as a Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds.
The Note also has the distinctive mark sensor "ultrasonic" installed below the screen that uses soundwaves to differentiate your finger. The component appeared on the S10 line but wasn't too strong; ideally, the Note 10s adjustments.

The Pixel 3 as well as Pixel 3 XL are the best phones you can get today, supplied you don't desire an apple iPhone. The only differences in between both versions are the bigger screen (and also notch) and also battery on the XL.
They have the best electronic camera ever before on a smart device, surpassing all competitors in a lot of situations. Both have the most premium Google phone hardware to day, great battery life can charge wirelessly and also are water resistant.
The notch may annoy you on the 3 XL yet the smaller sized one exists with hardly any concession. The phones price from ₤ 739/ $799.
OnePlus 6T
Although it lacks a headphone jack, cordless charging and also waterproofing, the OnePlus 6T is still one of the best phones you can acquire right now. It is fairly priced, has the best specifications you might wish for, looks great as well as has cams that can compete with its opponents.

The dual electronic cameras are a shade listed below the high quality of the Pixel 3, however the majority of people won't care or observe.

Samsung Galaxy S10 plus
The Galaxy S10 Plus is the most effective Galaxy phone ever before with impressive cams, construct, display as well as efficiency. The Exynos version is pull down by its simply appropriate battery life.

If you intend to invest ₤ 100/ $100 less there's the regular Galaxy S10 which has most of the very same features including the triple back cameras and superior display. You might also choose the S10e, yet it's a different phone with a smaller display, less battery and also less electronic cameras.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro
It's a mark of just how good Huawei phones have come to be that there are 2 in our Leading 10. The Companion 20 Pro has a large vibrant OLED display, specifically great battery life and awesome three-way cameras with a slender notch.
At ₤ 899 it's Huawei's most pricey phone yet (though you'll battle to get it in the United States) as well as gain from renovations made to Huawei's EMUI software program. AI attributes likewise boost the video camera experience over the P20 Pro, and it includes 3D face unlock and reverse wireless billing so it can bill various other phones.
Stereo speakers, waterproofing and also 128GB storage to ensure this is a phone that will certainly last you into a minimum of 2 or three years of usage.
iPhone XS
The 2nd generation of Apple's scratched front runner iPhone is one of the most costly phones in our checklist at ₤ 999 or $999, but that coincides as 2017's currently ceased apple iPhone X.
The OLED screen is impressive and functions like the absolutely safe and secure Face ID unlock system make it one of the most futuristic phone Apple has actually ever before made. Performance is perfect, much like the construct quality. It's probably still the most desirable phone in the world.
It is rapid and cordless billing suitable, but just features a slow-moving battery charger in the box. Yet improved battery life and also amazing double video cameras still make the apple iPhone XS a no-brainer if you currently like apple iPhone and also iOS.
Honor View 20
With rates starting from ₤ 499, the Honor View 20's closest contrast is the One Plus 6T, but there's a lot extra on offer below than a 6T imitation.
For one, the View 20 was the first phone to launch in the west with a strike opening Selfie camera - a tiny round cutout in the edge of the display, instead of a notch dropping down right into the middle of the display.
There's additionally the first 48MP back camera - a stat we stressed was all advertising and marketing hype, but in fact supplies in one of the crispest cams we've used until now, especially when using the AI-enhanced Ultra Clearness setting.
Throw in the stunning holographic back, flagship cpu, and also long-lasting 4,000 mAh battery - not to mention an honest-to-god headphone jack in a front runner - as well as you have actually got among 2019's ideal phones currently.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
The Note 9 takes the winning layout of the Note 8 and also boosts it with much better develop quality, a bigger display as well as a smartly positioned finger print scanner. The 4000 mAh battery is also an outstanding upgrade.
The display screen is the very best you'll discover on a smart device alongside stereo speakers, wonderful cameras and the best Samsung software application yet.
It's as well pricey for some beginning at ₤ 899 or $999 and you may not need the S-Pen, however if its distinct incorporation interest you after that this is the most effective phone going.

Galaxy Note 9 Review
There are tons of great smartphones available to buy right now and Samsung just might have put the rest of the competition to bed with the Galaxy Note 9.
Some people want to buy a Google Pixel 3, some people want to buy an iPhone XS or an LG V40, but some people just like me want to buy a Note 9.
There are reasons why people want to buy Samsung’s smartphones and most of those reasons will be disclosed in this review.
Hardware & Design
The Note 9 looks very similar to the Note 8, a phone that also featured an all-glass design on the front and back along with an aluminum frame around it.
There was nothing wrong with last year’s design so I am glad that Samsung decided to stick with it instead of being just like Apple was with the iPhone X.
Samsung did however make one change to the design by placing the fingerprint sensor below the camera.
The Note 8 had its fingerprint sensor to the left of the rear cameras and that made it harder for people to reach it because of how tall the phone was.
I have to give a lot of credit to Samsung for listening to their customers and improving upon their mistakes each time they come out with a new phone.
Another thing I also love about the Note 9 on the hardware side of things is that it includes the S-Pen, which can be tucked away inside of the phone when it is not being used and this is a feature that I find to be very convenient.
Not only is the S-Pen great for taking notes, but it is also great for navigating around the touch screen and I find it a lot more fun than swiping my fingers everywhere.
Display
The Note 9 features a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ display and as expected it features Samsung’s Super AMOLED technology, which allows for super vibrant colors and a much brighter screen.
Everything on this display is going to come out crystal-clear and that even goes for when the Note 9 is being used outdoors because it can get super bright and allows you to see what is on the screen in direct sunlight.
But the best thing about this display is that it will make watching videos much more enjoyable because it supports HDR and that really helps colors pop no matter what you are watching.
Performance
With a Snapdragon 845 processor and 6 GB of RAM, the Note 9 runs smooth as silk and it even looks like it runs faster than the OnePlus 6 and iPhone XS, which are arguably the fastest phones on the market right now.
Multitasking and keeping multiple apps open at once is easy with the Note 9 because almost nothing slows it down whether it’s watching YouTube videos, browsing the web, interacting with your followers on social media or playing games.
As far as software is concerned the Note 9 does run Google’s Android 8.1 Oreo with a little bit of Samsung sprinkled on top of it.
Unlike its previous smartphones, Samsung did a great job engineering a quick and snappy user interface for the Note 9 because all of the extra crap that they put on this phone has not seemed to affect the performance at all.
And despite the fact that most phones tend slow down after a couple of years, I am not expecting this one to because I have used it for almost two months and it still works just like it did when it came out of the box.
My LG G6 started slowing down after a couple of weeks and my OnePlus 6 also did not last as long because it started giving me hiccups after just two months.
The Note 9 is the fastest smartphone around and I don’t think that is going to change anytime soon.
But we can’t talk about the performance of the Note 9 without discussing its superb battery life.
I have not thoroughly tested the batter on this phone like most other reviewers usually do, but so far the Note 9 has gotten me through every single day I have used it and this is regardless of what I used it for whether it was browsing the web or spending a lot of time on social media apps like Instagram and Twitter.
And for those who might be worried that the Note 9 won’t last them all day, topping off the battery can be done in minutes thanks to the fact the phone comes with a fast charger in the box, which is something Apple is refusing to do with the iPhone XS and iPhone XR.
Camera
Taking pictures with the Note 9 is an experience like no other and Samsung did a great job when it came to designing cameras that gives us the ability to take great shots in even the worst lighting conditions ever and in pretty much any other situation.
The colors always seem to pop in the photos I take on the Note 9 and the portrait mode is also nice because I can focus on a particular person or object without being distracted by what is in the background of the shot.
I also really find it useful that I change the background blur even after taking a picture using portrait mode with the rear camera.
Apple claims to have added a similar feature to its newest iPhones, which I have yet to see for myself.
Bottom Line
$1,000 is a lot of money to spend on a phone but I think Samsung perfectly justifies the high price tag on the Note 9 by giving it features that no other flagship device has to offer.
People that can’t afford this phone are obviously not going to buy it, but those that can need to know that the Note 9 is a greater value for $1,000 compared to the iPhone XS.
The iPhone XS has a lot of cool features and its user interface is just as smooth as what I have found while using the Note 9, but the fact that you have to pay extra money to utilize all of its features is outrageous.
If someone where to buy a Note 9 right now they would get not only the phone in the box, but in addition to that they would also get a fast charging adapter along with a compatible cable.
Buying an iPhone XS will only get that person a phone and they would not only have to pay $49 more for the fast charging adapter, but they would also have to pay another $25 for the compatible cable.
That being said, this conversation is over because I am here to tell everybody that the Galaxy Note 9 is indeed the best smartphone out there and there is currently no better alternative available.
Alex Lowe’s Score: 97%

USB Power Delivery is the fastest way to charge iPhone and Android devices
With the current generation of smartphones and their much faster processors and vivid, high-resolution displays, and always-on connectivity, demands on battery performance are now higher than ever.
You may have noticed that, while you are on the road, you're quickly running out of juice. If you have this problem, portable batteries and PD fast charger than what may have come in the box with your device may be the solution.
But not all portable batteries are the same, even though they might use similar Lithium Polymer (LiPo) and Lithium-Ion (Lion) cells for capacity and look very much alike. Plus, modern smartphone hardware from Apple and various Android manufacturers support faster-charging rates than what was previously supported.
If you use the charger that comes in the box of the current-generation iPhone hardware, or if you buy just any portable battery pack on the market, you're going to be disappointed. Ideally, you want to match your charger, battery, and even the charging cable to the optimal charging speeds that your device supports.
There are three different high-speed USB charging standards currently on the market. While all will work with your device using a standard legacy charge mode, you will want to match up the right technology to optimize the speed in which you can top off your phone, tablet, or even your laptop. Let's start by explaining the differences between them.
Legacy USB-A 2.0 and 3.0 charging
If your Android device or accessory still has the USB Micro B connector (the dreaded fragile trapezoid that's impossible to connect in the dark), you can fast-charge it using an inexpensive USB-A-to-USB Micro B cable.
If the device and the 20W USB C PD fast charger white port both support the USB 2.0 standard (pretty much the least common denominator these days for entry-level Android smartphones), you can charge it at 1.5A/5V. Some consumer electronics, such as higher-end vape batteries that use the Evolv DNA chipset, can charge at 2A. A USB 3.0/3.1 charge port on one of these batteries can supply 3.0A/5V -- if the device supports it.
If you are charging an accessory, such as an inexpensive pair of wireless earbuds or another Bluetooth device, and it doesn't support either of the USB-A fast charging specs, it will slow charge at either 500mA or 900mA, which is about the same you can expect from directly connecting it to most PCs.
Many of the portable batteries on the market have both USB-C and multiple USB-A ports. Some of them have USB-A ports that can deliver the same voltage, while others feature one fast (2.4A) and one slow (1A).
So, you will want to make sure you plug the device into the battery port that can charge it at the fastest rate, if you're going to top off the device as quickly as possible.
USB Power Delivery
USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is a relatively new fast charge standard that was introduced by the USB Implementers Forum, the creators of the USB standard. It is an industry-standard open specification that provides high-speed charging with variable voltage up to 20V using intelligent device negotiation up to 5A at 100W.
It scales up from smartphones to notebook computers, provided they use a USB-C connector and a USB-C power controller on the client and host.
Batteries and 3 port PD fast charger that employ USB PD can charge devices up to 100W output using a USB-C connector -- however, most output at 30W because that is on the upper range of what most smartphones and tablets can handle. In contrast, laptops require adapters and batteries that can output at a higher wattage.
Apple introduced USB PD charging with iOS devices with the launch of the 2015 iPad Pro 12.9 and with OS X laptops in the MacBook Pro as of 2016. Apple's smartphones beginning with the iPhone 8 can rapidly charge with USB PD using any USB PD charging accessory; you don't have to use Apple's OEM USB-C 29W or its 61W power adapters.
In 2019, Apple released an 18W USB-C Power Adapter, which comes with the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Although Apple's charger works just fine, you'll probably want to consider a third-party wall charger for the regular iPhone 11 or an earlier model. The regular iPhone 11 and the iPhone SE only come with a 5W USB-A charger, which is woefully inadequate for getting your device charged up quickly. And the current rumor mill seems to indicate that the iPhone 12 may not even ship with a charger in the box at all.
Fast-charging an iPhone requires the use of a USB-C to Lightning cable, which, until February 2019, needed Apple's OEM MKQ42AM/A (1m ) or MD818ZM/A (2m) USB-C to Lightning cables. Unfortunately, they're a tad expensive at around $19 to $35 from various online retailers such as Amazon.
There are cheaper third-party USB-C to Lightning cables. I am currently partial to USB-C-to-Lightning cables from Anker, which are highly durable and MFI-certified for use with Apple's devices.
It should be noted that, if you intend to use your smartphone with either Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto, your vehicle will probably still require a USB-A to USB-C or a USB-A-to-Lightning cable if it doesn't support these screen projection technologies wirelessly. You can't fast-charge with either of these types of cables in most cars, and there is no way to pass-through a fast charge to a 12V USB PD accessory while being connected to a data cable, either.
Qualcomm Quick Charge
Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoCs are used in many popular smartphones and tablets. It's fast-charging standard, Quick Charge, has been through multiple iterations.
The current implementation is Quick Charge 4.0, which is backward-compatible with older Quick Charge accessories and devices. Unlike USB PD, Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 can be delivered using the USB-A connector. Quick Charge 4.0 is exclusive to USB-C.
Quick Charge 4.0 is only present in phones that use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8xx, and it's present in many North American tier 1 OEM Android devices made by Samsung, LG, Motorola, OnePlus, ZTE, and Google.
The Xiaomi, ZTE Nubia and the Sony Xperia devices also use QC 4.0, but they aren't sold in the US market. Huawei's phones utilize Kirin 970/980/990 chips, which use its own Supercharge standard, but they are backward-compatible with the 18W USB PD standard. Similarly, Oppo's phones have SuperVOOC, and OnePlus uses Warp Charge, and issue its compatible charger accessories if you want to take advantage of higher wattage (30W/40W/100W) charge rates.
Like USB PD, QC 3.0 and QC 4.0 are variable voltage technologies and will intelligently ramp up your device for optimal charging speeds and safety. However, Quick Charge 3.0 and 4.0 differ from USB PD in that it has some additional features for thermal management and voltage stepping with the current-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs to optimize for reduced heat footprint while charging.
It also uses a different variable voltage selection and negotiation protocol than USB PD, which Qualcomm advertises as better/safer for its own SoCs.
And for devices that use Qualcomm's current chipsets, Quick Charge 4.0 is about 25% faster than Quick Charge 3.0. The company advertises five hours of usage time on the device for five minutes of charge time.
However, while it is present in (some of) the USB C dual PD fast charger that ship with the devices themselves, and a few third-party solutions, Quick Charge 4 is not in any battery products yet. It is not just competing with USB Power Delivery; it is also compatible with USB Power Delivery.
Qualcomm's technology and ICs have to be licensed at considerable additional expense to the OEMs, whereas USB PD is an open standard.
If you compound this with Google recommending OEMs conform to USB PD over Quick Charge for Android-based products, it sounds like USB PD is the way to go, right?
Well, sort of. If you have a Quick Charge 3.0 device, definitely get a Quick Charge 3.0 battery. But if you have a Quick Charge 4.0 device or an iOS device, get at USB PD battery for now.
Which battery should you buy?
Now that you understand the fundamental charging technologies, which battery should you buy? When the first version of this article released in 2018, the product selection on the market was much more limited -- there are now dozens of vendors currently manufacturing USB PD products.
USB-C connectors have been designed hand-in-hand with USB-C Power Delivery, to handle these new high levels of power. USB-C circuit boards are specially designed to carry this increased wattage without being damaged or overheating, for enhanced safety to users and their devices.
Older connectors, such as USB-A, were first introduced in 1996, when much less power was needed than that required by today’s smartphones and tablets. This older technology is less suited to handle this increased wattage and may not have the ability to monitor heat and circuitry abnormalities.
Whether it’s a small phone or a large laptop, the USB C PD fast charger detects the connected device to deliver the right amount of power to charge that device as fast as possible. This ensures fast charging without delivering too much power which could damage circuitry.

Your next-gen phone is just a click away!

http://digitaltechnologynews.com/ OnePlus 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S9 Smartphones OnePlus 6 Samsung Galaxy S9 New Samsung Galaxy S9 unveiled at 2018 MWC is likely to has a couple of major enhancements over the preview S8 . On the exterior, however, small is likely to alter - the Galaxy S9 is expected to be created of metal and glass curving around the edges, with minimum bezels surrounding its Infinity display. The digital digital camera is rumored to remain a single module, as a dual-digital digital camera establishedup could appear only in the Galaxy S9+. Samsung Galaxy S9 Display and Hardware The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are outfitted with 5.8" and a 6.2" displays respectively - same sizes as final year. The tech hasn't alterd possibly - each are vibrant HDR-ready, Super AMOLED panels with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels. Nevertheless Samsung says it's using a new type of coating on the glass on the front, so the new displays may look somewhat more powerful and punchy to the naked eye, thanks to even deeper blacks, but the distinction shouldn't be too big. On the inside, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are pohad beend by a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 CPU, paired with 4GB of RAM in the S9 and 6GB in the S9+. Both feature a 3.5mm jack and are IP68-rated to boot, producing them dust- and water-resistant. One region where Samsung doesn't introduce anything new is the batteries. The new flagships have the same 3000 and 3500 mAh batteries that pohad beend the Galaxy S8 and S8+ final year. Samsung Galaxy S9 Sound Speakers Aside from a 3.5mm jack, the S9 and S9+ now also sport stereo speakers, one being bottom-firing, and the earpiece doubling as the other. Samsung says the new speaker configuration creates seem that is on average 1.4x louder than what the S8s had been capable of. And just like the earbuds that came boxed with final year's models, the speakers of the S9s are "tuned by AKG" and also support Dolby Atmos. Samsung Galaxy S9 Camera the S9 again comes with a single 12 MP shooter, while the S9+ gets the Note 8 configuration, with a 12 MP main shooter and a secondary, telephoto (zoom) camera of 12 megapixels. The S9 and S9+ can record a video of 960fps slow-mo video (just 0.2s are turned into 6s slow-mo footage) at 720p resolution, and the implementation itself looks very well. The smartphone is capable of automatic motion detection, which sets the appropriate part of the video in slow-motion without you having to do almost anything. A manual mode setting is available as well. The 2-step variable aperture goes from f/1.5, down to f/2.4, which comes in handy when shooting sluggish motion video or stills at night. When you're shooting in a dimly lit atmosphere for example the aperture opens to let more light in, so you can shoot at a highererer shutter pace and not worry concerning blurring your photo. This feature is also important for recording higherer body rate movies because the digital digital camera shutter needs to operate at an extremely higherer pace, which outcomes in less light taken by the sensor. This makes shooting sluggish-mo movies in darker environments an exercise in frustration, particularly when it comes to smarttelephone digital digital cameras. Samsung Galaxy S9 Camera AR Emoji As is the trend these days, the front-facing digital digital cameras on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ can do what Samsung is referring to as "AR Emoji", which are basically 3D avatars created to look like the user. The procedure is simple - you just snap a pic of your self and then the telephone creates an avatar. If you're not happy with the digital approximation of your self, you can usually alter it to make it look more like you. What is cooler is that once you established up your 3D avatar, the S9 automatically creates computer animated emoji stickers based on it and makes them accessible through the keyboard so you can send them as stickers in different messaging apps. Samsung Galaxy S9 price release date At this point, Samsung hasn't yet said the price information for the Galaxy S9 and S9+, although we can make an educated guess based on final year's models. For example the S8 launched with a price tag of around $750, while the S8+ launched at $850. Given the current hike in smarttelephone prices we'd presume the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will launch at these or slightly highererer prices. Preorders for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ start today, and the telephones will be officially released in most major markets on March 16. Other markets will get them shortly after.

Most people don't need a rugged smartphone. If you work a desk job and don't spend a lot of time out in the wilderness, you can probably slap a regular case on your phone and not have to worry about anything.
However, if you work at a construction site or you're often outdoors, you need a phone that can take a beating. There's a whole world of rugged smartphones out there with waterproof ratings, the ability to withstand giant drops, and so on.
Today, we're going to take a look at one of those phones: the Blackview BV6300. Not only is it a rugged Android smartphone, but it's also quite affordable at less than $150. But there's a lot more to making a good phone than just making sure it can take a beating. Does the Blackview BV6300 bring the total package to the table, or is it just a little too affordable to keep up with the competitive smartphone market?

Blackview BV6300 Initial Impressions
If there's one thing Blackview has down to a science, it's the packaging. The boxes the company uses are sleek, and they make you feel like you're getting a high-end product, even though you're getting a cheap phone.
The positive first impressions continue when you open the box, as everything is packaged well, and it all looks great. You'll find the phone, headphones, power brick, and USB cable all right in front of you. Under the phone sits the documentation and even a screen protector that should further protect the rugged phone. (That's assuming you can put it on correctly. I'm horrible at putting them on straight.)
As for the phone itself, it's a decent-looking device. You can immediately tell that it's rugged based merely on the look of it. Despite the rugged look and feel, the phone isn't all that beefy. It doesn't look too large when compared to some other rugged phones on the market.
All in all, the Black BV6300 makes a pretty good first impression. Between the stellar packaging, aesthetically pleasing design, and size, you can't help but feel like you got a pretty good deal with how cheap this phone actually is.
Blackview BV6300 Rugged Design
The thing that will attract you to this device is the rugged design. The phone is designed to take a beating with its IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810G certifications.
Blackview says it puts the phone through some extremely rigorous tests to make sure the phone is prepared to deal with some pretty intense treatment.
The company says it performed 12000 drops on the front side and 12000 times on the backside. It also does 6000 soft pressure tests on the front and 6000 times on the back. That sounds like a lot, but the company also performs a salt test for 48 hours and thousands of tumbling and distortion tests. By the time it released the BV6300, the company has made sure it can literally handle everything.
That's all well and good, but we needed to test the phone's ability to get beat up as well. Ultimately, it handled whatever we threw at it. While I didn't run it over with a car, I threw it around, stepped on it, kicked it, and put it in the water. No matter what I did, it kept on ticking. Obviously, you're not going to go out of your way to break the phone, but if an accident happens, you should be okay.
Every port on the phone is sealed with a cover, preventing water and dust ingress from causing damage to the internal. Speaking of powers, there's a USB-C and headphone port on the BV6300. Not many phones include headphone jacks anymore, so it's nice to have that option.
As for the glass, Blackview used Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which is not the latest tech from Corning, but it's still quite durable, and it held up as we tossed the phone around and put it through its paces.
Blackview BV6300 Specifications And Pricing
The first thing that's attractive about the BV6300 is the price. It's super cheap. Right now, it's $129, but the full MSRP is $179. Of course, at that price, the phone doesn't come with compelling specifications. Starting with the processor, Blackview included a MediaTek A25 12nm Octa-core chip. It's the very definition of an entry-level ARM SoC with its 1.8GHz. In terms of benchmarks, the processor is between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 439.
Also, on the entry-level side of the equation is the RAM, as Blackview only included 3GB. While it's basic, 3GB is actually a pretty decent amount of memory for ultra-affordable phones. For example, the LG K40, Moto E6, and Samsung Galaxy A11 (all of which retail for between $150 and $180) feature 2GB of RAM.
As for internal storage, the BV6300 comes with only 32GB. Fortunately, there's a MicroSD slot with support for up to 128GB, so you can add a lot more memory if you need to.
Blackview BV6300 Performance Tests
To test the phone, we put it through Geekbench 5 to see how the processor can handle a wide variety of tasks.
For its single-core test, it scored a 147, which puts it on par with phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Motorola Nexus 6, and OnePlus One. To provide a little more perspective, high-end flagships like the OnePlus 8 and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G score in the mid to high 800 range on the single-core tests.
For multi-core performance, the BV6300 got a 686. The Sony Xperia XZ has the same score, though that phone came out in 2016. Other phones in that same range are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the LG G5 SE. Those are both rather old phones as well, so that should give you an idea of what to expect. Again, for perspective, the highest score currently belongs to the OnePlus 8 with a 3224.
For our next test, we tried to run the phone through the Wildlife test in 3DMark. As this is an entry-level phone, we didn't have very high expectations, and we were right. The phone actually couldn't run the benchmark test at all.
So we tried the Sling Shot test in 3DMark, and while that benchmark worked, it felt like we were watching a slideshow. For the graphics tests, the phone averaged 2.3 frames per second. It ended up with a score of 530, which is not great, but about where we'd expect to see a phone at this price. According to 3DMark, that score is better than 19% of all phones that ran the test.
Blackview BV6300 Camera
The camera on the BV6300 is nothing special, but it's also not terrible for a phone at this price. It has a fundamental quad-camera setup on the back. The phone features a 13MP primary shooter and three 0.3MP lenses supporting the primary.
While the hardware won't knock your socks off, the phone can make up for that with great software. Unfortunately, taking photos with the BV6300 feels sluggish, and the pictures looked mediocre at best. In low light, the camera is basically useless, but even with my professional lighting, the pictures still look like they were taken with a camera from five or six years ago.
There are plenty of options for tweaking your pictures within the default camera app, but no matter which settings you adjust or which mode you shoot with, you're just not going to get great photos with the sensor on the BV6300. You'll get decent photos, but nothing that will blow you away.
If photography is important to you and you want an affordable, rugged phone, you're much better off looking at the BV6300 Pro, as its quad-camera setup features 16MP, 8MP, 2.0MP, and 0.3MP shooters.
If you're buying this phone as a work phone, you might not worry too much about the camera, but if you plan to use the BV6300 as an everyday phone, you'll be disappointed with the results.
Should You Buy The Blackview BV6300?
In the end, I have a hard time recommending the Blackview BV6300 as anyone's only phone. Yes, it's incredibly cheap and durable, but I found the mediocre specs and weak cameras lacking.
However, if you're looking for a phone that'll be used strictly while on the job site, and you're not concerned with anything other than the phone not breaking while making calls, sending texts, and performing essential functions, you should give this phone a look. You won't be too upset with the performance at the incredibly affordable price, and you can relax knowing that the phone probably won't break no matter what you do to it.

LG K92 5G Review
Over the past few years, midrange phones have come into their own. Gone are the mediocre build quality and disappointing displays; instead, you can easily find something with a gorgeous screen and top-notch construction for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the LG K92 5G ($400) is the wrong kind of blast from the past. This 5G smartphone can't match its obvious competitors, the Google Pixel 4a 5G ($499) and TCL 10 5G UW ($400). It's a carrier-locked phone, like the TCL 10 5G, but only works on AT&T's painfully slow low-band 5G network. It also suffers from poky performance, short battery life, and lackluster build quality that make it hard to recommend.
Big Display, Flimsy Build
At 6.6 by 3.0 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and 7.1 ounces, the K92 5G is a big phone that will fight for room in your pocket. The front of the phone is dominated by a 6.7-inch LCD with pronounced bezels all the way around.
Display resolution clocks in at 2,400 by 1,080 with a 393ppi pixel density. The display is bright and crisp; colors skew slightly warm. Viewing angles are decent, but you'll definitely lose some clarity if you're not looking at the display head on. The biggest issue, however, is the very noticeable shadow beneath the camera cutout. Head on, you'll only notice a slight shadow, but if you look at the phone at any other angle, it becomes very pronounced.
The back of the K92 5G is constructed of a glossy purple plastic. It looks sharp at first but picks up fingerprints and scratches very easily. Though other midrange phones like the Pixel 4a use plastic backplates, they still feel substantial. The K92 5G, on the other, hand, feels a little flimsy. If you tap its back, you'll be greeted with a hollow thud.
There's a thick horizontal stripe for the camera module and flash on the back of the phone. Everything, with the exception of the primary lens, sits flush against the phone and looks very sleek.
The speaker grille, USB-C charging port, and headphone jack sit on the bottom of the bottom of the phone. The top is home to a SIM/microSD slot. On the left you'll find the Google Assistant and volume buttons. The buttons are thin and fairly flush with the phone, and if you have small hands they can be difficult to reach.
There's a power button on the right side of the phone that also houses the fingerprint sensor. It's accurate but a little slow. When you tap your finger to unlock, the screen goes dark for about a second, leaving you to wonder whether your fingerprint registered at all.
Though plastic backplates tend to withstand drops and dings better than their glass counterparts, it feels like there's very little additional support behind the K92 5G's backplate. When we've noticed this in the past, most often on entry-level phones, we've found them to be much more prone to cracks.
There's also no IP rating on the phone, meaning any accidental immersion in water is likely going to mean its demise. And then there's the issue of the display. LG doesn't state that the K92 5G uses any sort of strengthened glass for its display, and we reached out to the company and did not receive a reply. After some digging, it appears the display is made of traditional sodium glass, which will not weather drops well at all. If you're planning to make the K92 5G your next daily-use phone, you'll definitely want to pick up a sturdy case.
Half the 5G Goodness
When it comes to connectivity, the K92 5G is a bit of a strange bird. It's a carrier exclusive for AT&T and Cricket Wireless that is optimized for that network, and it is a 5G phone, but it will never work on AT&T's ultra-fast mmWave network because it only has a sub-6GHz modem. That said, AT&T has played down the importance of its mmWave network, to the point of never releasing a map of the areas it covers.
Overall connectivity is poor, but that's due more to AT&T's network and software requirements than to the K92 5G's hardware. We tested the phone on AT&T's 5G network in Memphis and recorded average speeds of 28.4Mbps down and 3.81Mbps up. On a less congested network in Arkansas, average speeds increased to 45.2Mbps down and 4.67Mbps up. I suspect LTE network speeds would be much better, but AT&T disables the option to turn off 5G connectivity on its phones, so there's no way for us to verify it or for a user to take advantage of it.
We found call quality to be adequate during our test calls. Maximum earpiece volume clocks in at 88dB, which is loud enough to use in just about any scenario. We noticed some static at higher volumes during half of our test calls. Noise cancellation, however, worked perfectly on every call.
Audio quality is disappointing. Though the K92 5G boasts stereo speakers, the top and bottom speakers are unbalanced; in our tests, the bottom speaker maxed out at 101dB compared with just 81dB for the top speaker. In general, audio is forward and harsh, creating significant congestion. Fortunately, there's a headphone jack on board for wired audio.
The K92 5G supports dual-band Wi-Fi, as well as Bluetooth 5.1. NFC is also onboard for mobile payments and boarding passes.
Sluggish Performer
With the exception of the recently released OnePlus Nord N10 5G, the LG K92 is the only 5G smartphone in the US that uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 690 processor. It's a step down from the 700-series processors that have become common on midrange 5G phones such as the Google Pixel 4a, the Revvl 5G UW, and the TCL 10 5G UW. There's 6GB of RAM as well as 128GB of storage, of which just 95GB is available when you open the box. You can add storage with a microSD card.
In theory, the K92's Snapdragon 690 chipset should be powerful enough to hold its own for the average user, but we found it limped along in our tests. Apps took a little longer than expected to open, screen transitions lagged, and, on more than one occasion, the phone briefly froze up when we opened apps.
Gaming is a miss as well. We tested the K92 5G with Alto's Odyssey and Asphalt 8: Airborne for nearly two hours and noticed long load times and intermittent skipped frames. The phone froze entirely at one point while playing Asphalt 8, forcing us to reboot it.
Benchmark tests yielded interesting results. On Geekbench 5, a suite of tests that measures raw computing power, the K92 5G earned 602 single-core (SC) and 1,734 multi-core (MC) scores. That's on par with the OnePlus Nord N10 (578 SC/1,846MC) and even the more powerful TCL 10 5G UW (618 SC/1,911MC).
Of course, Geekbench results only tells part of the story. On PCMark 2.0 and Basemark Web, benchmark suites that use real-world applications, the K92 5G lagged behind on tasks like video editing and web browsing. Add in a GFXBench Car Chase Offscreen score of 14fps versus the average score of 21fps we've seen on Snapdragon 765 chipsets, it starts to look like the phone's underwhelming GPU may be at least partially to blame for some of the lag we experienced.
A 4,000mAh battery powers the K92 5G. Despite the phone's energy-efficient processor, its battery is anemic for a phone with a 6.7-inch display. In our battery drain test, which streams HD video over Wi-Fi at full brightness, the K92 5G eked out just 8 hours and 7 minutes before shutting down. What's more, we found that the battery depleted quickly even when it wasn't being used; during our week of testing, the battery drained an average of 17 percent overnight.
If you do find yourself veering into the red by the end of the day, the K92 5G supports fast charging with Quick Charge 4.0. That means you can easily gain a few hours of battery life in about five minutes, or add 80% charge to your depleted battery in about an hour. Wireless charging, however, is not an option.
Cameras That (Mostly) Shine in Good Light
On the back of the K92 5G, you'll find a quad camera stack with a 64MP primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture, a 5MP ultra-wide sense with an f/2.2 aperture, and 2MP depth and macro sensors. A 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture sits on the front of the phone.
Let's start with the 64MP primary lens. In good light, it does a surprisingly solid job. Our test shots were crisp with excellent background detail and depth of field. In low light, there was some loss of fine detail, and we noticed overly aggressive noise cancellation in a few test shots, but overall, the K92 5G does well for a midrange phone.
The 5MP ultra-wide lens did a pretty decent job in good light. There was no complex distortion like we often see on midrange wide-angle lenses. However, there was a noticeable loss of fine detail in most of our shots. Low-light photos, on the other hand, featured noticeable edge noise. There were some unexplained halos in a few shots that may have been caused by natural phenomena.
The K92 5G's macro lens, like most we've tested, fails to stand out. Nearly all our test shots appeared flat and had significant detail loss in the foreground.
The 16MP front-facing camera does an excellent job in good light. All of our test photos were crisp with excellent depth of field. In low light, however, the selfie cam struggles. Our test shots looked flat and noise started to creep in around the edges.
LG offers several different Portrait mode options on the K92 5G. Thanks to the 5MP depth sensor, all work well on the rear camera. For our test shots, we used the Blur setting. All of our test shots had a natural-looking bokeh with accurate subject mapping.
Portraits with the selfie cam are a bit more hit or miss. We found issues with subject mapping around shoulders and hats in nearly every shot. In photos where the subject and background were the same color, we noticed areas where the bokeh effect simply didn't work.
Android 10 With Dozens of Unwelcome Extras
The K92 5G ships features Android 10 with LG's custom UI. Over the past few years, LG's skin has become more user-friendly, but it's still a pretty heavy-handed take on Android. Icons have a unique look, the Settings menu is organized a little differently, and even the Search bar is not the same as you'll find on stock Android. It's not a bad thing, necessarily, but if you're not used to LG devices, it takes a while to get your bearings.
Unfortunately, the K92 is filled with nearly two dozen bloatware applications, including shopping apps, games, and AT&T and LG's branded apps. It's excessive and completely inexcusable for an unsubsidized phone to ship with nearly 15GB of apps you didn't request.
It's not clear whether the K92 5G will get an upgrade to Android 11. If it does, expect to see it in the distant future, since it will need to be pushed through the carrier. We've reached out to LG inquire about future software upgrades but have yet to hear back.
Simply Not a Contender
The LG K92 5G sounds like a solid smartphone on paper, but we found it to be a weak competitor when compared to the Google Pixel 4a and TCL 10 5G UW. Given the quality concerns, poor battery life, and underwhelming performance—not to mention its mediocre display—it's hard for us to find any outstanding features that makes the K92 5G worth consideration. AT&T customers looking for a 5G phone will find the Pixel 4a 5G a far superior option.
