The thing is, we don't know about the Heart Pirates but we do know about Bepo and Law (at least in passing).
Tumblr media
What we know is that both are alive, as shown from the frame above from chapter 1117. Bepo is patched up, which means someone's seen to his wounds. Bepo was calling to Law about Vegapunk's discussion of the holders of the initial D. (Bepo, therefore knowing that Law holds it).
I'd like to think that Law fixed him up. I also think Law's just off camera (maybe hanging out with the crew!), but I know that others have more pessimistic points of view. Anyhoo, these two are alive and kicking, and I think if Bepo was devastated (as he would be, if the crew was gone), he'd look it.
The thing is that we don't know about Kid and the Kid Pirates, but we do know about the Fake Kid Pirates! (picture below).
Tumblr media
And as we know, they stepped in as the Fake Straw Hats when the Straw Hats were presumed dead, but were not. I'm taking it as a sign.

Post-Winner Island Fic Roundup
Now that the end of the Winner Island fight has been animated, I'm sure there are people looking for some catharsis. I thought I'd round up the fics I've written post-chapter 1081 (and now episode 1115). You'll find a mixture of gen, Heart Pirates-focused and Lawlu fics here:
"Aftermath" (PG | Gen | 1,122 words): The aftermath of the fight at Winner Island.
"The Heart Is a Thing to Be Broken" (PG-13 | Lawlu | 5,514 words): The Straw Hats learn about Winner Island.
"My Heart in Your Hands, My Hands around Your Heart" (PG | Lawlu | 1,908 words): In Luffy's lowest moment, Law takes Luffy's hand and promises that his story will not end.
In Law's lowest moment, Luffy takes Law's hand and promises the same.
"Your Heart, Broken in My Chest"* (PG-13 | Lawlu | 3,661 words): Luffy was far from an expert at having someone else’s heart in his chest, but he was pretty sure what was happening with Torao’s heart wasn’t normal.
AKA, Law and Luffy switched hearts after Wano, and Luffy feels Winner Island happen.
"My Heart, Fragile in Your Hands"* (PG-13 | Lawlu | 2,380 words): “I failed them,” Law whispered, and it felt like a confession—like at church in Flevance. Confession was supposed to absolve someone of their sins, right? He doubted there was a god anywhere who could absolve him of his. And yet, he confessed at the altar of Luffy. “They were my responsibility, and I failed them.”
Or, Law wakes up in the Sunny's infirmary after Winner Island.
"Our Hearts, Made Whole in Each Other"* (PG-13 | Lawlu | 2,312 words): Luffy cupped Law’s cheek with his hand, softly grazing his thumb over a yellowing bruise. “Torao is so pretty,” he said quietly, a note of awe in his voice. Law flushed. “Torao’s heart is beating so fast.”
“Yeah,” Law agreed, swallowing. “It is.” Luffy’s, despite a few flutters, was beating steadily in Law’s chest. Law, on the other hand, felt pinned to the spot, one hand holding Kikoku and the other in Luffy’s grip.
“You should stay.”
Law blinked. “What?”
“You should stay,” Luffy repeated. “On the Sunny. With me."
"From the Ashes" (PG-13 | eventual Lawlu | 3/? | 10,811 words): Blackbeard takes Law and the defeated Heart Pirates captive after their defeat at Winner Island.
"A Thing Both Terrible and Beautiful" (Explicit | Lawlu | 3,525 words): Law wants it rough, wants it to hurt, because it’s what he deserves after losing everything. Again.
Luffy knows he needs something else.
"Cursed"** (PG-13 | Gen | 1,411 words): After Wano, Jean had never been prouder to sport the Heart Pirates Jolly Roger on his back, tattooed over the slave brand that had marked him as cursed for so many years.
But they had failed Law on Winner Island.
Jean had failed him on Winner Island.
"Celebration"** (PG-13 | Gen | 1,689 words): As the Heart and Straw Hat Pirates celebrate the jailbreak of the imprisoned Hearts, Shachi tracks down a guilt-ridden Law and offers his captain some moral support.
"Loyalty"** (PG-13 | Gen | 1,264 words): The only solace the Hearts had after being taken captive by the Blackbeard Pirates was the revelation that Bepo had gotten Law away from the battlefield. They’d all sworn in Wano that they would do whatever it took to protect their self-sacrificing captain, and any of them would have made the same choice, had they been able.
They were the Heart Pirates, and Trafalgar Law was the beating heart at the center of the crew. They would hold out until Law came for them, and they would give the Blackbeard Pirates nothing.
"Night"** (PG-13 | Gen | 1,131 words): Their rescue comes at night.
"Food"** (PG-13 | Gen | 1,217 words): “Sorry for borrowing your kitchen without asking. I just...”
“It’s fine,” Sanji said easily before starting to roll up the cuffs on his sleeves to his elbow. “You wanted to make something for your people, didn’t you?”
“I...” Clione blinked in surprise. “Yeah.”
“I get it,” Sanji said. Once his cuffs were rolled up, he crossed his arms and leaned against the side of the counter. “It’s how people like us show our love, right?” Sanji went on. “Through our cooking.”
"Caught"** (PG-13 | Gen | 1,283 words): Maybe this wasn’t such a bad death, Hakugan thought as he felt darkness beginning to encroach on his vision. He’d been on the crew of a Warlord, had helped in the fight that defeated two Emperors, and had seen more incredible, unbelievable things than he would have once thought possible; it had been a much more fulfilling life than he would have had if he’d stayed in his boring, backwater home in the North Blue.
He would never regret agreeing to join Trafalgar Law all those years ago.
He only hoped that his captain would somehow live on to fight another day; as long as Law lived on, so would the Heart Pirates.
"Lost and Found (You)" (PG-13 | Lawlu | 7,554 words): Five times Law and Luffy almost lost one another and one time they did something about it.
* These fics are in a series and were written for Lawlu Week 2023.
** These fics are in a series and were written for Heart Pirates Week 2024

expanding on the ancient weapon thing, idrk how reliable this actually is, but, apparently, uranus could derive from a word that meant rain.
Tumblr media
now, I wouldn't think much of this if it wasn't for the fact that a world sinking into the sea by the hands of a "god" to chastise their people reminds me way too much of the great flood.
and what other references to the great flood do we have in one piece?
Tumblr media
the ship that noah used to save his family from it. i think that, at this point, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that joy boy was intending to use it in a similar way.
given that uranus is the only ancient weapon we know absolutely nothing about, i wouldn't be surprised if it was in im's power right now. poseidon and pluton were on joy boy's side, as far as we know. from a writing standpoint, it would make sense to give the remaining one to the opposition to balance things out.
rain by itself may not sound like much of threat, but if it's similar to what the great flood was described to be... yeah, i think it's very much capable of destroying the world.

This is a bit more minor compared to all of the lore we got in this chapter, but this is now the second time we've had a crew member berate Zoro in these most recent chapters, and the third person overall.
First Rob Lucci referred to him as dead weight, then Sanji called him a liability, and now Nami is berating and blaming him for not being able to leave sooner. This is (if I remember correctly) the most we've seen Zoro's actions criticized in such a short period of time. And I really hope something more comes from it for Zoro as a character.
Because this has also (in a way) been an arc of failure for Zoro. And I don't mean that as a bad thing. It's good to have characters fail. But for someone like Zoro, who has fears centered around not being strong enough to protect the crew, the kind of failure he experienced is the kind that would hit at those fears.
He failed to take down Kaku because Stussy intervened. He failed to take down Lucci, and Jimbei had to step in and physically remove him from the fight. And while these aren't failures in the traditional sense (he didn't loose to Lucci or Kaku, he just wasn't the one to finish them off) to Zoro, who has been characterized as being incredibly hard on himself, they would probably register to him as failures. Then, to have those perceived failures be compounded upon by having his position on the crew questioned not just by an antagonist, but a fellow crew member?? I just can't help but think that Oda is going to break Zoro as a character (like how he did with Sanji at Whole Cake, or Robin at Ennis Lobby, or Luffy at Marineford).
I honestly think it would be incredibly poetic to have the first crewmate be the last one to break, to be the last one that needs to be saved. I also think it would be a good way to raise the stakes even higher as we get closer to finding the One Piece (by having conflict within the crew.)
Obviously this is all speculation and wishful thinking. And while I would a bit disappointed if these moments (that I could just be reading way too far into) don't culminate into something larger, it also wouldn't be the end of the world. I just think it would help to solidify the depth of Zoro's character by showing him actually having to confront his fears in a way that doesn't involve scenes of him training, or one off moments of him vowing to be stronger.

One Piece Chapter 1115 Spoilers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We find out there was a clash between two opposing ideologies in the past, but what it was about is still unknown. Rayleigh’s words also seem to suggest there might not be a clear cut answer.
If it’s about two clashing ideologies, I can see Shanks and Buggy playing a role in representing a similar kind of conflict. Just like how Luffy and Blackbeard clash in so many ways. The current four Emperors will be part of this ideological war that’ll continue in the future, along with the World Government and Revolutionaries.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe these petty quarrels were to show the origin of the past war was also over something petty? Luffy and Blackbeard fought over their personal preferences, while Shanks and Buggy fought over which Pole was colder. And while Shanks was technically correct, this whole argument was framed as a pointless argument they couldn’t solve unless they went to check themselves.
These scenes between Luffy&Blackbeard and Shanks&Buggy could foreshadow that they’ll be on opposing sides of this battle of ideology that will continue in the future. They might even represent the same ideals of the two differing sides of the past.
Tumblr media
When I think about Buggy’s coming role in this ideological war and the sunken Ancient Kingdom, I think Buggy would obviously want to unsink the world. Since the beginning, he’s been angry about not being able to get all the treasure on the ocean floor because he’s a devil fruit user. It’s terrible for him not being able to swim, so he wouldn’t want the world to flood even more.
Surely he’ll want to go against Imu and unsink the world so he can get to the treasure at the bottom.
I wonder then, if Shanks and Buggy are set up to have contrasting ideals, will it result in them fighting on opposite sides of the war? I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but I think it’s possible Shanks’ goal isn’t to unsink the world for whatever reason, maybe there’s some truth behind the One Piece we don’t know about yet.
If Shanks’ goal was truly to save the world, why doesn’t he team up with Nika/Luffy? Why does he keep acting alone/with the Five Elders? Imu and the Elders want the world to stay sunk and raise the sea levels even higher, would they be so okay with him if he was actively trying to stop their plans? With his actions, the way he doesn’t have any devil fruit users, befriending the giants, inspiring people to be pirates and set out to sea and his fleet being comprised of ‘weaklings’ in order to save and protect them…it seems like he’s preparing for a world that will be underwater.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It would tie back to Shanks’ ‘cowardly’ behavior and his tendency of wanting to avoid conflict. While Shanks might not be a bad guy, maybe he’s just enough of a coward to stand back and watch the world sink.

The return of the king:

Also, this is the cutest thing ever, gosh I love Vivi so much:

And omfg Oda snapped so fucking hard with this:
Tumblr media
So what is the One Piece? I wonder if it isn't a reclamation of this idea. That people could go wherever they wanted. Except instead of draining the sea or something, maybe everyone gets the ability to breathe and swim underwater. Cause Big Moms experiments on Giant Children makes me wonder, what if minks and all these other species aren't native to the world but rather experiments set on it to see how they adapt? Maybe Ancient Kingdom experiments to counteract the rising ocean? And the Devil Fruits are a world government invention alongside sea kings and what not. To divide and keep people out of the sea and far away from each other. Maybe they have a reason for it like the Anti Spirals from TTGL did, but at the cost of freedom. Anyways that's just spitballing. But I do love that line about not questioning the morality of the two factions. It brings to mind that Rayliegh quote again about how the Strawhats might come to a different conclusion. All's that to say, somethings fucky...
Also also! Stussy is going to be really important! Idk if y'all remember but a while back(i dont have the energy to go find it rn) but there was a pretty tucked away panel/dialogue about how Vegapunk had created a clone of Bakkin and he basically argued for her value as a human life iirc. There is anguish and deep emotion there and Oda's lowkey given her a really unique focus.
