People get really mad about this, but WHAT IF Corazon is alive?
I know I can really sound delusional after so many time (saw someone saying that if he did were alive, he would reappear in Dressrosa, but I think it would b too on top of the loop. Not Oda style). But WHAT IF!
There is a plothole for him to come back, we all know that. One piece characters don't die so easily. And when Doffy shoot him, what if he shoot the right spots so he brother doesn't die? Just like in One Piece Academy?
(probably failed not sounding delusional but)
So if there's a really tiny chance he's alive somewhere, with little memories maybe, wouldn't be a fun last challenge to Law?
Fight ur not so dead dad and get the One piece?
I think a heart wrenching aspect of Cora's 'uncertain' passing is that Law might've subconsciously waited for Cora during his stay at Swallow. Maybe 'silence' was dispelled because Cora san passed out? Maybe he survived gunshots like the countless wounds he survived before, and he was right about Doffy not having it in him to kill his brother? I've loved this comic for exploring this idea.
What if Cora is alive, though? I can indulge you a bit so people will think twice before calling you out next time 😎
Here's one in courtesy of Japanese YouTuber kayokky-ch. Back in chapter 49 during Baratie arc, the cooks described a customer like this, and it was never addressed afterwards :
Tumblr media
Aren't these some wicked coincidences? Red eyes, wine addiction, bursting in flames - all points click.
Add Oda's tendency to keep people alive. Theories write themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have seen Whitebeard and Ace's fruit re-emerged, but Cora's is yet to return. Oda has a knack to work with old bits of information he spread around, especially with Saul's comfirmed survival, you can speculate other possibilities.
At least, the possibility isn't at 0%, so if Oda wakes up one day and decides Cora's incredible popularity deserves some attention... it'll be controversial but not a complete retcon.
A definitive proof in favor of Cora's death was the mariner's report and the image they attached to it. At least, Sengoku was supposed to know.
Tumblr media
Unless you have a case where Cora was clinically dead for some time and then returned to life, and now Sengoku is keeping his survival a secret.
The theory above speculates that he might be "The man marked by flame", and that's why Law was particularly focused on when this mysterious person was brought up. I'm not sure what sort of agenda Cora would have if he returns. What's your theory behind Rosi possibly confronting Law, anon?
Tumblr media
Personally, I've come in terms with the fact that Cora has died. Although, It's a shame that Law never got to return his "love you." Since Oda was somewhat involved with One Piece Odyssey, I like to imagine that Law's words to Cora here are checked by Oda himself. I thought they were very sweet.
Tumblr media
Thanks for the ask!

Major differences between Deicide universe and One Piece canon that happen prior to Deicide: Onigashima Aftermath
Mihawk is Crocodile's first mate in their early days of piracy. Crocodile is Whitebeard's son. Galdino is a cabin boy and later crewmate on their ship.
Crocodile, Mihawk, Buggy, Doflamingo, Vergo, and Daz have an accidental misadventure together on a lost island in the aftermath of Roger's execution.
Donquixote Rosinante is the victim of a precursor to the experiments performed on Kuma.
Caesar Clown is involved in the experiments on the Vinsmoke Siblings, and is the one who assists Sora with her attempt to thwart part of them.
Marianne/Miss Goldenweek's abilities are due to a devil fruit.
Vivi is 20 during the events of Alabasta rather than 16.
Enel is killed during the Skypeia arc.
Carrot is the crew member who the Straw Hats acquire at Thriller Bark, rather than Brook, and she remains with them throughout.
Gecko Moria is ejected from the Warlords due to his failure against Straw Hat Luffy. He slinks off from his miserable defeat to get drunk on a resort island, having lost all his drive. He remains there for two years.
After hearing news of Marineford, Vivi becomes determined to rejoin the Straw Hat crew and runs away from her kingdom. She runs straight into Crocodile, adventures with him and the remnants of Baroque Works during the timeskip, and gets a devil fruit for herself.
Bon Clay, with the encouragement of his fellow prisoners, sneaks out of Impel Down with the intention to join up with the Straw Hats. He ends up with Crocodile and the former Baroque Works members.
Koala and Sabo discover that Ace's soul is sharing Sabo's body. They reconnect with Ace's former first mate Deuce.
Luffy spends more personal alone time with Hancock during the timeskip, training on the outskirts of Amazon Lily rather than another island.
Vergo survives the events of Punk Hazard, his body found in pieces by Doflamingo and reassembled. He is resting/healing outside the city during the events of Dressrosa, but rushes in at the end when he discovers there's trouble. He's in time to save the Donquixote family from captivity by marines, but is unable to get to Doflamingo who is being kept separately.
Rebecca, (who is 18, not 16)  wanting to determine her own path, and not wanting to be forced into a peaceful life after her experience as a gladiator, flees Dressrosa with the Straw Hat crew.
The Straw Hats are not separated in Dressrosa, and travel to Zou together.
Crocodile's ship catches up to the Straw Hats as they're leaving Dressrosa. He has a short reunion with Robin, and delivers Vivi to the Straw Hat crew as promised. He then goes after the marine ship carrying Doflamingo, and successfully frees him from custody.
Viola has a change of heart and rejoins the Donquixote pirates as Violet.
Events of One Piece Stampede and Film Gold happen.
Crocodile forms Cross Guild with Mihawk, Buggy, Doflamingo and Hancock.
The Straw Hats encounter Lim and Adio– something like the events of "One Piece Odyssey" happen.
When Sanji is forced to leave the Straw Hats for his wedding Rebecca goes along to watch after him. Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats go after him immediately, despite Sanji's insistence not to.
After the events of Whole Cake Island, Caesar Clown joins the Straw Hat crew on a permanent basis. Luffy insists that his position on the crew is "Chopper's assistant".
During the events of Whole Cake Island, Rebecca gets close to the Vinsmoke siblings, and in the aftermath of the event they adopt/kidnap her. The siblings abandon their father to Big Mom's wrath and sail away, after which they convince Rebecca to undergo enhancements similar to their own.
In the aftermath of Whole Cake Island, Pudding flees the Charlotte family trying to find her own way in life. Katakuri discovers her leaving, and follows her as a sort of bodyguard. They eventually end up running into the Vinsmoke Siblings and Rebecca.
Koala, Deuce, and Isuka accompany Sabo (and Ace) on their raid on Mary Geoise during the Revelry.
Otama is 18 years old, rather than 8.
On Wano, Luffy finds out about Kaido and King's backstory and is unsettlingly reminded of himself and Zoro. These feelings lead him to resist his urge to kill Kaido during their battle, and to discover that "Gear 5" has some kind of mind of its own.
Big Mom also survives the battle on Wano, but winds up in a coma. She is brought back to Tottoland by her children.
Deicide: Onigashima Aftermath starts, and Deicide and One Piece canon completely part ways so much as to become unrecognizable.

I wasn’t expecting to be reduced to tears playing One Piece Odyssey.
Tumblr media
Spoilers for the game.
Tumblr media
The Dressrosa arc really takes an emotional turn. In that part of the game, Lim successfully retrieves Corazon from Law's memory and together they join the battle against Doflamingo. The most touching moment is when Law expresses his deep gratitude to Cora for the sacrifice he made. It's definitely a standout moment in the story, one I am very grateful for because of how much Law’s backstory affected me.
Tumblr media
It's actually really sad when you think about it. In that part of the game, the memory fragment of Law gets to see Cora again but the real Law has no idea about this reunion. It's like a bittersweet moment, knowing that the real Law is completely unaware of this special encounter.
Tumblr media
I’m not done with the game yet so I have no idea if memories are affected by Lim’s power but it’s like a punch to the gut, thinking about Law going on without knowing what happened. You'd think that Luffy and his crew would fill him in the next time they crosses paths, right? It's such a significant moment and it would be a shame if Law never found out.

Some musings below the cut on the central conceit of how the plot in One Piece Odyssey works and the one blatant (grumpy and dramatic) exception to how that conceit works:
So the central conceit of Odyssey is that at the beginning of the game the Straw Hats have their abilities and strength removed via an NPC's (Lim) mysterious ability, and they have to go back into their memories to regain those abilities, by more or less doing the same things they did before, i.e. defeating the arc big bad. However, the game notes two important things about how this works:
These worlds they are going to are entirely based on their memories. Lim can't just reach in and fix the problem because they aren't hers. And because they're memories, and time has passed, they're not going to remember things perfectly, so events will be slightly changed. (Luffy's bad memory gets blamed for a lot of shenanigans).
The people in the memories are not real, and will see you as you were when the real events occurred. Basically, they're simulacrum.
We go through almost the entire game encountering familiar friends and enemies--and god, if you want a good cry, go look up Luffy's extremely subtle, heartbreaking reaction to seeing Ace in Alabasta--and no one ever questions the irregularities of what's going on. The Straw Hats, as one might expect, are not subtle talking about the fact that they're reliving their own memories with a slightly different coat of paint. But here's the thing: no one really calls them on it.
Vivi is a little confused, especially about where Lim came from, but she doesn't say anything. Kuzan wonders a little about things when they run into him in Water 7. And Kizaru comments on how fast they seem to have gotten back together at Marineford, considering he was pretty sure they were all separated at Sabaody.
But then we get to Dressrosa. And for a bit, it seems like the same sort of thing. Rebecca and Sabo don't really comment on anything, and it seems like business as usual.
And then Law falls from the sky, immediately starts trauma dumping about his reasons for being there, and passes the fuck out, and has to be carted around while Chopper yells at Luffy to leave him alone.
But here's the thing: Law, as far as we know, never elaborates on his reasons beyond "hey, Doflamingo's brother saved my life, and then Doflamingo killed him" in canon. And that's enough for Luffy, so he doesn't have to. But he's way more explicit in the game, about something he never told anyone, which means they shouldn't be able to remember it.
He also is immediately suspicious of Lim. He pulls a "what's with this sassy lost child" on her as soon as he's conscious, and she gets very defensive.
This Law is a memory. He's not real. Which means the Straw Hats collectively remember him (rightly) as a paranoid bastard with all of the Trauma Warning Lights flashing neon. And they remember he's smart enough to put context clues together.
And then he effectively just breaks the rules.
The memory Law has of Rosinante is so damn strong that Lim's memory magic goes haywire and effectively summons him from nowhere to fight Doflamingo. Lim explicitly comments that she's not doing this, he is, and that's insane. This isn't the real Law. This is a memory. And the memory of this memory is so strong it's able to summon a completely new memory that none of the Straw Hats have. They don't know who Rosinante is. They've never seen him before.
What do the Straw Hats think of Law to give his echo this much power? How much of an impression has he made on them in such a relatively short period of time? (This would also be nebulously chronologically pre-Wano, so nothing that happens there applies. Robin hasn't talked to him yet, even).
I dunno, I realize that this moment was probably more or less included as fanservice, but it opens up a lot of questions. Trafalgar "fuck your rules" Law, everybody.
(Also don't think too hard about how memory!Law got to thank Rosinante and that real!Law will never get that same moment of closure. Think instead about the genuinely astonished look on Doflamingo's face when his dead brother showed up. Or Lim calling Law out on the fact that regardless, Law will help Luffy again and watching him get all defensive about it, the grump).

well that's one piece odyssey story done! it was pretty fun as an JRPG, but in true one piece form the start was such a slog that i nearly quit several times (in fact i did quit several months ago before i even made it to alabasta)
had some cute ideas to it (i won't spoil it but there's one scene in dressrosa arc that i wasn't expecting but thought was really sweet)
if you're a one piece fan then id probably recommend it but it's still a jrpg so expect to have to take your time with it
I'm finishing one piece odyssey this year even if it goddamn kills me

Is Uta Hime a Siren Hybrid? One Last Theory Before One Piece Red Releases Tomorrow!
[My apologies in advance to mush your brain with this]
To be honest, this is the first One Piece Film I have been so intrigued about.
Firstly because our antagonist is not an old/middle-aged disillusioned man, but a late teen. Secondly, it is a Shanks centric story, though I doubt he will be in the cinema for more than five minutes! Thirdly, Luffy knows this antagonist, so the angst will be intense, defeating people opposite to his ideologies was easier for Luffy. But defeating someone he cares or like or worries about is always HARD: Remember Luffy vs Bellamy and Luffy vs Fujitora in Dressrosa?
Now, though, as previously mentioned my other theory, I do not think Uta is Shanks' biological daughter, but rather another child he saved or influenced or acted fatherly with.
Tumblr media
I still think that, though many are going with fake memories, which to be fair is the most plausible narrative. It is not like Fake/Manipulated/Erased memories has not been done in One Piece. Recent canon example is Pudding rewriting/editing memories, Big Mom's Amnesia, Sabo's Amnesia, Sugar's doll making powers erasing memories of people's existence, Dr. Hogback's zombies losing their memories/humanity.  And in a non-canon story of the anime filler arc, Strawhats had once lost their memories to a seahorse, it was in Ocean's Dream Arc.
So I am not discarding the manipulated/fake/altered memories theory, I just hope it is not that.
Now let's come to Uta.
I have been watching all her vlogs and little snippets on the One Piece U-Tube page. A few things that stuck with me are-
Uta has dual hair colour, red and white, not an unnatural thing for One Piece.
Uta is alone and always in her empty greenhouse type balcony while livestreaming.
Uta takes walks and picks up random shit, including flowers and bounty posters.
Uta has been livestreaming her songs from the island Elegia and has a huge fan base.
And Uta hates pirates!
After her declaring her hate for pirates, pirates came to Elegia to hurt/kidnap her.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
So two videos were released, one is 6th part of Uta Vlog and Where the Wind Blows music clip with two girls swimming in very studio ghibli style art work animation [I will come back to this at last of the end of this theory]
Now, if you remember the first teaser of the Film Red, OP narrator asks if Her Voice Will Bring Eternal Peace or Endless Imprisonment. From every possible logic, people have been claiming Uta is a siren, which I won't say is farfetched, we have an entire race of fishpeople, long arms, long legs, dwarfs, giants, people with wings and more. A Siren is perfectly acceptable and possible.
As Siren's myth goes, they are half-human-half-birds and their voice is attractive to sailors. I am guessing pirates and marines have fallen prey to their voices, if siren race exist that is. And their voices can control desires, so we know who is going to fall for Uta's voice first if she is a siren? Sanji, that wee virgin boy, was a goner from the beginning! And who is going to not fall at all? Luffy. [Zoro, Law and Robin too I guess if we are thinking from desire POV, because Nami will fall for berry dreams and Chopper cotton candies].
Now coming back to if Uta, who is hailed as a hime and Usopp called her princess Uta, if she is a siren princess, there are many possibilities. Odachii had never sighed from writing stories that are grim or macrabe, under the jolly art of his world building we have seen a lot; cannibalism [Owner Zeff, Big Mom], necrophilia [Dr. Hogback], coercion of all kinds, slave trade, drugs, arms trade, war profiteering, human trafficking.
So out of many possibilities, my two brain cells have been fixated on two ideas.
First Elegia, Uta's island/kingdom/nation, I am assuming the worst. We know Shanks has been travelling for a long time, people who are familiar with Odyssey, know the sirens tried to tempt Odysseus and his crew, and they sealed their ears with wax. Let's assume a young Shanks like Odysseus and his young crew landed on Elegia. Either by luck or for business, and were not able to resist temptation and fell for the lotus-eaters or were seduced/coerced by Elegian Sirens.
Shanks let's face it is good-looking, so a princess/queen falling in love and desiring him won't be out of One Piece narrative. We already have Boa Hancock pining for Luffy. History repeats. Unlike Luffy, who has never been much about the romantic aspect of romance, Shanks is a different person. So maybe a young Shanks did father Uta, and somehow the spell broke, and he escaped and took Uta along. Or maybe while he was out sailing with Uta and meeting with Luffy, Elegia got attacked. [Now that we know Shanks stole Gomu-Gomu-no-mi from Marines, will that stop Marines from taking out revenge?]
I am going by Shanks' piracy brought in consequences for Elegia, which made him leave, I won’t say flee. And he left Uta behind with her mother because of his no-child pirate policy. As is the fate of One Piece moms; Uta's mom died of sickness or got killed or just disappeared or died of heart break because Sirens commit suicide if someone escaped their song spell.
Young Uta left on her own on a ruined island would channel her grief and project her anger to one species; Pirates. In every Uta vlog, she speaks fondly of an Elegia long gone and hit by tragedy. She also found pirate bounties and mocked rather roasted them on her livestream. Rest in peace, Big Mom's double chin. Uta hates pirates! She is extremely pro-marines as well. [Yes, I learned all these from her vlogs].
Second, we know lineage factor is a big deal in this universe. Sins of the parents are to be paid by the blood of their child, and since I am going by Uta is the biological siren kid of Shanks here, imagine her potential! That man can stop war, send haki waves from miles away, and split skies. A siren daughter with her father's blood in her veins! Her powers to manipulate and control people would be amplified. Not that we are going to get the exact version of the myth, the Asian bird woman are similar to sirens, but they steal life force, and we already had a life force stealing psychopath in the story.
Even is she is not a biological daughter, Shanks has a knack for fishing out brats with potentials, a siren child he rescued or met and provided refuge, could be another living weapon like Shirahosi. Sirens were good at changing tides. My point is haki has many forms that we know not off. If trained properly, it can manifest as armour, show future, knockout people, so how far can mind control be? Haki in hands of someone like Luffy is an extension of his physical powers, but if Haki is in hands of someone who is physically not so strong but brain smart it will manifest in different way.
Again back to Uta being blood related, Garp and Ace had mused in Marineford that Luffy was born with Conquer's Haki, as if it was ingrained in his genes, similarly if Uta is Shanks' child she must carry a part of the same genetic make up. Now imagine being a siren-daughter of the strongest living Pirate? You are untapped potential. I think Uta's big revenge plan is to amplify her voice-haki-power with help of the livestream and unleash her anger to avenge her mother/island. Her anger might not be in the form of violence, but subjugation of sorts, like how Toto Land was diverse but the essence of diversity was lost. Now, though the second trailer of the Film Red says, her dream is to bring joy to the world through music. She clearly believes as long as she sings the world be peaceful, we know it better after watching the smiles in action how forced happiness is not happiness at all. It is abuse.
I am not calling her a DF user of mythical zoan type: siren yet, but that would be cool too! Like Marco, to have a legendary DF! Actually, I would love it.
Now coming to Where the Wind Blows Clip where the swimming girls in studio ghibli style animation is happening and The World Continuation Clip. There are two girls in the first clip, one has white/silver hair and the other has red hair, both are waving at a ship sailing by. The second one has two girls one red haired and other white haired, then there is fire and, we are left with Uta with two hair colour!
I really don't want to go to the extreme of my imagination. But my two braincells have been shouting; Chimera Siren! Chimera are master of illusions with patchwork body of lion, goat, snake! And they could breathe fire, but recent versions and renditions of chimera are well creepy [Remember Fullmetal Alchemist?]
Tumblr media
I hope all my theories for this cinema are proven gloriously wrong, but I can't just believe that this sunshine of a girl named Uta is fine. Most of the antagonist in One Piece have tragic backstories that leads to them becoming deranged, except Hody Jones, he was just hateful. So there is no way this little idol Uta is unscathed, she is certain her father abandoned her. The question is did Shanks trigger two parallel narratives? Where one child learned to see the better in the world and the other chose to distrust it?
