One of the things that hurts the most about luffy and usopp’s argument before their fight is how they were very clearly having two different arguments.

Luffy was arguing from the position of captain about the ability of the ship and safety of the crew. He’d made the decision to leave the merry after seeing how hurt usopp was and knew they had to leave her behind specifically for the sake of the crew— for the sake of usopp. He tried to explain his decision. One of the hardest decisions he’d had to make. But he couldn’t get Usopp to understand. And when he realized that the argument had gone too far (thanks to sanji resetting his brain with a kick) he stopped and apologized cus he knew the crew was the most important thing to him.

Usopp was arguing from the position of a man on his last leg about his own usefulness. He and the merry joined the crew at the same time. He’d been her primary caretaker. In his mind, if the merry could be left behind, so could he. His pride was hurt, his self worth whittled down to nothing, and his time with his friends coming to an end. He shot down luffy’s apology and left because, to him, the argument wasn’t an argument. It was judgement on his own usefulness coming from his best friend.

It just hurts to realize the arguments luffy and usopp had were so fundamentally different there wasn’t any way for a peaceful resolution to be reached. Not when luffy needed his crew and usopp needed a purpose.

Who gave One Piece the right to make me emotional? Huh?? Funnily enough Zoro and Sanji are my favorite characters despite me not having said much about them yet, but I think Usopp is making his way up there.. making me feel things.

Damn, now I'm sad 😔 One Piece didn't have to pull on my heartstrings like this.

I'm having a hard caring about what happened to Iceburg atm when the Straw Hats are all sad, and Usopp is by himself on the Going Merry.

I don’t know why more people aren’t watching this show, but it’s worth a peek.

This particular episode touches heavily on storyboards and animatics, and while these guys are all talking about feature films, just about everything they’re talking about applies to animation (half of any given superhero film is animation anyway).

Animatics are such an incredible tool that I’m shocked that they aren’t an industry requirement. We literally weren’t allowed to have animatics on Billy & Mandy due to “budgetary restraints”, and since I’d never utilized them before I didn’t realize what I was missing. Now, I basically board right into animatic. If I have a line of dialog for a character, I’ll just temp it in. That way I’m both writing and directing (essentially) at the same time. As I go, I know more-or-less how much time everything is taking, what’s working, and what drags. If I hit ten minutes and I’m still not into Act 3, I know I need to cut something to make room. I can make a version of my movie or show for (essentially) free and share it as a blueprint for others to follow or give feedback on. Why would you NOT do that?

There’s some good stuff in here too about the insane pacing of Television production, the amount of stuff you somehow have to hold in your brain when you’re dealing with all of these moving pieces, and the importance of having a plan for everything. As the director, you’re the only one who is really capable of keeping track of the project from the microscopic to macroscopic scale. Everything from overall tone to the tweak you want to make to line 236 is your responsibility.

I’m not a huge fan of Snyder’s body of work, but Zack Snyder films are Zack Snyder films. His stamp is all over them. The Russos come from a much more Disnified, collaborative background. And lest that sound too noble, the collaboration is all directed toward making a product engineered to be enjoyable. In a very real way, it’s The Auteur vs. The Machine. Listening to this episode, you can tell that no one ever say Zack Snyder down in a room with a bunch of lawyers and research executives to talk about whether or not he was accidentally delivering fascist messages or how many girls aged 8-12 were into Steppenwolf. Whereas that would be Day One at Disney, and every day after would involve some other checks-and-balances meeting, a number of high-level sign-offs, and the upkeep of an intricate company-wide roadmap.

Snyder and the Russos both found themselves making superhero movies for two very different companies in two different very ways. The ways those movies were produced are as much a result of the studio culture as it is the personalities and desires of the directors. As much as Jellystone has reminded me how much I love deep collaboration, methods of production are often not my choice. Depending on the studio, I’ve occasionally felt either overwhelmed by too much “support” or left alone in the woods to die. Neither situation is exactly ideal, but both present their own unique challenges and opportunities. The Machine is efficient, gets things done, and will protect you -- as long as you’re in its good graces. The Auteur is laid bare -- flaws and obsessions on display for anyone to see. Neither Snyder or the Russos go too deep into the studio culture at either studio (oh to be a fly on the wall when the pizza is gone), but is one really superior to the other? Learning to work within the confines of a studio’s culture is a whole different layer on the onion, and I wish they talked about it here.

It’s cool to see that from the simplest cartoon short to the summer blockbuster, the struggles in the entertainment industry are all the same. The pay’s way better on the blockbuster side, though. In case you’re trying to choose.

You settled onto your creaky dorm bed, a bowl of microwave popcorn in hand and your laptop tuned into the next episode of New Girl. It was a Friday night, you had no pressing homework, and you planned to binge the rest of season 4. 

“Who’s that girl, yeah who’s that girl,” you sang along with the theme song. Jessica Day was dancing along your laptop screen. “It’s Jess!” you finished dramatically, throwing several popcorn pieces into your mouth. 

There was a sharp knock on your door.

“You have got to be kidding me,” you muttered, pausing your favorite show.

You got off your bed, and slowly walked over to the door. You barely had it open when the person on the other side asked extremely quickly. “Are you the Residence Assistant?”

You blinked slowly, taking in the girl with the large bushy brown hair on the other side. “Is that what the sign says?” you asked boredly. 

You watched the girl’s eyes dart to the two letters “RA” that were stuck to your door. You had originally signed up for the position because it got you a cheaper room than renting an apartment would and let you live by yourself. You had thought it would be easy. What you hadn’t accounted for was the obnoxious residents like this girl who would pound at your door at every ungodly hour when they had a problem.

“If it’s a maintenance issue come back in the morning, nobody is here to fix that now,” you rattled off, having had to say that line several dozen times a month.

“Oh no it’s not that,” she said, furiously shaking her head. “The people next door to me are being extremely rowdy and obnoxious. I can’t focus enough to study.”

You sighed. “Have you tried the library?”

“That is beside the point,” she said quickly. “This is my dorm room and I expect a certain level of civility from the people sharing my walls.”

You could feel a headache coming on. It was a Friday night, she shouldn’t have her nose in a textbook.

“What’s the room number? I’ll go check it out in a little,” you said, having absolutely no intention of doing so. 

The girl scrunched up her nose to think. “Good heavens I can’t remember.”

Of course she can’t, you thought in annoyance.

“What’s your room number then?” you tried. “Are the people who are causing the issues on the left or right of you?”

“237,” she replied. “Now do you mean the left or right of when you’re in the hall or in my room looking out at the hall?”

“Bloody hell I don’t know,” you snapped. “Just pick one.”

Now you definitely were not going to check out the problem. This freshman was starting to get on your nerves.

“How about I come show you, it’ll be easier,” she decided.

“No, it would be easier if I checked later,” you corrected.

She ignored you. “Just come this way, I’m just over here.”

You groaned, but she was all the way down the hall.

“Are you coming?” she asked, turning to see why you weren’t directly beside her.

“Yes,” you muttered, cursing her in your head as you walked over to meet her.

She led you down to the end of the adjacent hall and took a left, finally stopping directly in front of room 236.

“This is them,” she said, pointing firmly at the wooden door.

“You can go back to your dorm now, I can take care of this,” you said. You were secretly hoping she would leave so you could go back to your show and popcorn.

“That’s okay, I can wait with you.”

Of course you can, you thought.

Accepting that she wasn’t going anywhere, you rapped loudly on the dorm room door.

You could hear the music that had been playing loudly turn off. There was a pad of footsteps and then the click of the door unlocking. The person behind it pulled it open. Your jaw dropped.

Standing on the other side and running a hand through his messy red hair was the most gorgeous guy you had ever seen. He had bright brown eyes that were taking you in in amusement and tousled red hair. His face was dotted in freckles that only seemed to soften his chiseled jaw. He was wearing a tight black shirt that did nothing to hide the defined muscles under it. You could see the outlines of his abs perfectly. 

You were not aware that you were staring until he reached out and closed your mouth with one long finger.

“Wouldn’t want to catch any flies there love,” he said, winking. 

You wanted to swoon.

He leaned against the door frame, crossing his arms in front of his chest. You were hyperly aware of his bulging biceps that were stretching against the fabric of his shirt.

“Can I help you?” he prompted.

“Huh- uh- what?” you managed to stutter. You shook her head sharply in an attempt to remind your brain to function.

He chuckled. “You’re the one who knocked on my door. I assume it wasn’t just to gawk.”

“She’s here to talk about you being disruptive,” the girl blurted out behind you. You had completely forgotten she was there.

“I was being disruptive?” he asked in amusement.

“Yes, your music is too loud,” she answered loudly. You turned around and glared at her. If she would just shut up for only a minute.

“Hmm really? I had no idea,” he mused.

You finally managed to pull yourself together. “You need to find a way to turn that sound system down because you’re disrupting the whole floor here.”

“The whole floor? That’s the first I’ve heard of this.”

“Listen, as the Resident Assistant it’s my job to make sure everyone on this floor is happy, and currently this one,” you pointed rather agitatedly at the bushy haired girl behind you, “is discontent with the volume of your music, so if you could please just turn it down for Pete’s sake.” 

The boy quirked an eyebrow, taking in the waves of annoyance that were seeping off you. “So you’re a Resident Assistant?” he asked.

“That’s not the point, your music is too loud!” the girl behind you interjected angrily.

You turned to her sharply. “Why don’t you go back to your room and let me handle this, you’ve done enough.”

Her cheeks turned a deep shade of red as she realized that she was getting on your nerves. Nodding softly, she turned and entered the room next door leaving you and the devilishly handsome redhead alone together in the hall.

“So you were sent to punish me?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

For some reason that question made your stomach flutter and your knees go weak 

“Uh, umm, I–” you stuttered, inwardly cursing yourself for letting him have this effect on you.

A smile quirked at his lips. “Are you trying to say something love?”

“Yes I am,” you respond, finding your voice again. “You gotta turn that music down buddy or else I’ll be hearing about it for the rest of night from her.” You jerked a thumb in the direction of the room the girl had just gone into.

He didn’t seem deterred. “Buddy?” he instead asked, letting out a chuckle.

God that was probably the hottest sound you had heard all day. You told your conscience to shut up.

“Well I wasn’t given a name, but that doesn’t matter anyways,” you said curtly. “Just turn the music down and I won’t come back and bother you.”

Now you seemed to catch his attention. “So you’re saying all I have to do is disruptively play my music and you’ll be pounding at my door?”

You rolled your eyes. “Yeah, but I’ll be pissed if I have to come over here again.”

“Good thing you’re hot when you’re angry,” he winked. Your cheeks flushed red. “And when you’re flustered,” he added.

You couldn’t move for several seconds as your brain tried to start functioning again.

He raised an amused eyebrow. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”

“Uh yeah,” you muttered. You were annoyed with the effect he had on you. “I need your name for some paperwork I have to fill out.”

He grinned. “Fred Weasley.” Fred winked again. “I’m sure you’ll remember it.”

“That’ll do Weasley,” you said curtly. “Turn the music down and I’ll only write this up as a warning.”

“I appreciate your generosity there,” Fred grinned. “I’ll see you around RA.”

“Only if you disrupt your neighbors,” you said pointedly.

Fred smirked. “Then I’ll try to be as loud as possible if that gets you knocking on my door.”

But this post has to be about Usopp. Because damn has this show been making strides with his character development this arc.

I want to talk about the Usopp v. Luffy duel that was this episode, but I don't even know where to start! So I guess I should start more towards the beginning.

And I guess where this specific conflict started was with Usopp's confrontation with the Franky family and losing the money meant to repair the unfortunately-doomed Going Merry.

There have been so many things in the past few episodes that have given me actual chills. And Nami finding Usopp all beat up and just lying in the streets was one of them. Not because we haven't seen potentially life-threatening injuries before... But because of what he had to say about it. Having just lost all their money... Being faced with Nami specifically, who's known to go a little crazy when there's money involved... Honestly, I expected him to apologize maybe, be worried about how she'd take it. I was not ready for him to ask her how he was supposed to face the others after having failed them like this. That fucking hurt.

It's been hard to watch, but I feel like Usopp is reaching a point of no return to his character development, finally. In the past, I've denounced stupidity for the sake of pride, but I was actually super proud of him for going back to the Franky House alone, trying to set things right himself even though-- even when he wasn't grievously injured-- he didn't really stand a chance against them all in a fight. And his second defeat led to my favorite crew moment so far. Watching the other Straw Hats arrive in such a take no prisoners, we come to destroy, no compromises fashion was just fantastic. I would have really liked to see Nami there as well.

And then having to watch Luffy tell Usopp there was no hope for their ship... This is the second post in a row that I'm going to praise One Piece for subtlety. The tense, quiet atmosphere of the scene, the way it's not exactly called out, but you can just tell what every character is thinking, even if they're saying something completely different... It's so good.

And finally, the fight, which hurt a lot more than I thought it was going to, to be honest. I don't know why, but I didn't expect it to be this hard to watch. The first thing that really caught me off guard... was how well Usopp was holding his ground. Like, I think we all knew he didn't really stand a chance against Luffy, but he was at the top of his game here. It actually started to irk me just a little bit. Like, he could have been doing so much more in their fights up until this point, if he'd just stopped psyching himself out. And maybe then, standing alongside them all in battle in some way could have helped to combat his insecurities, and it never would have reached this point.

So yeah, these past few episodes have been hard to watch in the best ways. I'm really curious to see where Usopp goes from here. Because I know full well that he rejoins this crew at some point. But if there's one place where I have related to Usopp, it's a little with the insecurity and a lot with the self-consciousness. I've felt for a while now that he's the kind of person who really does need to go off on his own to improve himself. This whole time, the major thing that's really been holding him back is how much he compares himself to his crew mates, blinding him, I feel, to his own potential. Potential which really came out in this fight. (If only it didn't have to happen against one of his friends.) I wonder sometimes where Usopp could be right now if he had set out on his own like he'd originally intended. I like to think he would have struggled but persevered and ultimately succeeded.

Elite is so bingable it’s kinda gossip girl but with murder. It’s a Spanish Netflix show that I’m watching dubbed in English and it’s awesome I can’t put it down. Every season there is a crime that starts the season and then from there you get flashes of what took place that night throughout the 8 episode season. I wish there was more episodes per season. This season is the mystery of what happened to Ari to put her in a coma and to have lost some of her memory when she wakes to couple drama. This one guy named Anders had cancer and his boyfriend Omar took care of him everyday they love each other, they live together, and Anders just broke up with Omar and maybe at most a day and a half later he’s having sex with my favorite character Patrick. These two other guys are have a dick measuring contest to see which one is more deserving of Ari.

Patrick is my favorite character, he is mischievous and knows what he wants and doesn’t stop until he gets it. He is very sexual and hot. He’s had a threesome, broke up a relationship, slept with both people in that relationship while they were still in that relationship and now slept with the person in that relationship right after they called it quits. Patrick has two sisters a twin named Ari and a younger sister named Mencia. There was an car accident when he was younger that killed his mom instantly and he was bedridden for two years. They’ve only mentioned what happen but I hope they show us a flashback and I think in the Patrick special they do show us what happened. Their father Benjamin is a douche I understand his wife died leaving him with three children but he doesn’t even seem to love his children. Mencia turns to prostitution to raise enough money to move out. From what they’ve shown it doesn’t look like he and Patrick have a relationship, the only one he depends on and asks to do stuff is Ari. The one fatherly moment I saw between Benjamin and Patrick was when they were at the hospital and Ari was in the coma. Patrick put his head against the glass and Benjamin asked him if he was ok. Next season Patrick finds love but it’s complicated excited for that.

Prince Phillip I don’t know how I feel about him. He likes a girl the girl likes him they flirt they have fun together and when they have sex he records it without her knowledge and when she finds out he tells it security reasons I was once accused of something now I record all my interactions. He tries to make it up to her by buying out a restaurant and being her server instead of her cleaning up after people as a janitor she is being waited on by him. They were gaining their trust of each other back and she googled what he was accused of and there were zero articles about it. She got caught on his laptop and the trust is now broken again. Their problems aside they are a cute couple they love fashion and he doesn’t care that she is janitor when she found out that he was coming to the school she was thrilled and excited to meet him. I know this sounds like a older younger woman young man but they are close in age.

I didn’t talk about everyone in the show but these are ones I’m watching it for. I love this show.

Patrick and Ivan from elite are cute together. Ivan annoys me sometimes but other then that they are cute together. Every scene they are in you can see Patrick is head over heels in love with Ivan and it’s adorable.

The other part of me the shipper in me and maybe because Ivan does annoy me sometimes. I wish and love Patrick and Phillipe I wish they were a couple or had more scenes together.

After seeing @that-bi-multifandom-mess posts of magneto family that are awesome I love them. I was inspired and came up with a magneto family idea:

Wanda is looking for Billy and Tommy and stumbles into the x men universe. Magneto finds her and brings her to his mutant refugee home. Wanda let’s it slip that her last name is maximoff and Erik already knows Peter maximoff is his son. So another maximoff would be his daughter and her children would be his grandchildren. When they go to Charles to use cerebro to find Billy and Tommy they also find Lorna who is currently imprisoned in a glass cell. Wanda goes to get Lorna, Erik goes to get Peter and then the family reunited go to get Billy and Tommy.

My #1 post of 2022

After watching fate season 2 and loving riven and Musa. Plus last night I watched overdrive which has the actor who plays Riven in it. He was my favorite part of the movie. I came up with this one shot. For my rivusa sister @misssophiachase

Riven ducks as Musa’ Bo staff tries to hit him. They are sparring with each other and have been for the past nine months. As she spins the staff around her he grabs it and holds it behind his back. Riven jumps and spins as she tries to lunge at him. He tries to kick her and she jumps back unfortunately she didn’t realize how close she was to the edge and almost falls into the water. Riven catches her their hands holding on each other’s wrists. As he pulls her back onto the mat they stay connected their eyes never leaving each other’s. His thumb starts to brush over her wrist. She smiles up at him. His eyes go to her lips. “The suite is empty.”

The suite doors open and they stumble inside. Their lips connects hands frantically removing pieces of their training gear. His vest falls to the ground along with her puffer cropped vest.

Riven is walking backwards as they continue to kiss to her bedroom. He does fall into a chair bringing her down with him. “The great specialist can’t avoid a chair?”

“Shut up pixie.” He reaches up to continue kissing her but she leans back. “We don’t know when they will be back, do you really want to add fuel to Terra’s hatred of you finding us in the living room.”

Musa gets up and starts walking to her bedroom but Riven picks her up from behind she can’t help it and lets out a squeal. When she is with Riven she is not overwhelmed with emotions or feelings. He quiets them and brings her out of her head. He is the only one at this school who really sees her and was really there when she lost her magic. Everyone else tried to immediately get her powers back. He listened to her.

As soon as he puts her down in the middle of the room, it’s a race to get their clothes off. They don’t know how much time they have so they will use every moment of it. It’s only after their clothes are off do either of them remember that she still has the power dampening bracelets on. He looks down at them then up at her and she nods. He picks her up by the thighs and she wraps her legs around his waist her arms going around his neck, she leans down and kisses him. For other fairies these bracelets are painful and humiliating but for Musa they are a gift. She doesn’t have to feel everything she can be in the moment. Riven knows how much she struggled with her powers and even after they came back he noticed she was not happy they were back and was having a hard time. So when he gave her the bracelets so she could focus on the fighting part then on the fairy part. She is so much more then just a fairy is also a specialist in training.

Since they starting sneaking around sparring has become their foreplay so any touch on the field is just hyping them up even more. Finding an area is not easy the suite is usually filled, and the few times it wasn’t Terra almost caught them luckily they heard the door and Musa could feel her emotions and Riven was shoved in the closet just as Terra came in unfortunately she complained about Riven and how he is a terrible person and she does not get how someone like Flora could be friends with him. Or why she has found Musa sparring with him. Musa didn’t need to be an empath to feel the annoyance vibes in that room she put a hand on the closet door keeping it closed. She defended him telling Terra that he is not a terrible person and that she knows he is capable of a lot she can feel it. Sky walked in on them a couple times when they were in his and Riven’s room. Sky didn’t pay them any attention and just came into grab something. They tried different places in the school but Musa could still feel people plus it was very dirty and damp.

Musa moans as she can feel Riven inside she doesn’t need the bracelets to know he feels calm and happy. The smile on his face and the glint in his eye says it all as he slides his fingers through her hair as he thrusts into his little fairy specialist.

Musa is different, Riven has always been this cocky dick but around Musa he finds himself smiling and being more open. That day Musa got stuck in the track thanks to Terra. He could of and was supposed to run with the rest of the specialists. Instead he sat down next to her and made sure their bags were in front of Musa’s legs so nobody saw anything. He choose to sit with her instead of training. The night they went to rescue Beatrix his only concern was Musa. He didn’t want her to get hurt, when he realized that she was still inside he was worried she put her trust in him coming with them and he wasn’t going to let her down by not making sure she got out too. By the time he got outside with Musa everyone had already left. He walked her blooded weak body back during the whole walk back he kept making sure she was breathing and had a pulse it weak from the blood loss. By the time he got back to the school his legs were shaking he was so worried about her.

Riven grunts when he feels her lips on his neck and and the little nibble on his ear. His fingers grip her hair gently but still a little rough and he feels her body mold to his as her nails scrap down his back resulting in him arching his back. He leans down and kisses her. Her lips part and their tongues start to battle. Musa puts a hand on his chest and looks towards the door she thought she heard something. It was nothing. Her fingers wrap around his neck bringing his head down to kiss him. She bites his lower lip and swallows the groan he makes.

They were pent up from training but also it’s tough for them to find time alone. They found a release quickly he leaves a kiss on her neck right below her ear. Riven flips them and wraps his arms around Musa laying on his smooth chest. Musa leaves a kiss on his neck.

The secret they share of how Musa gave her powers up that night created this intimate bond with them. That developed into a friendship. Even after she got her powers back they were friends and continued to hang out. They took it further becoming a couple they get each other on a different level. Not only do they train together but he does try to help her with her powers. A couple weeks after she got them back she tried to block everyone out and focus on him it wasn’t a success. She helps him too with her he feels less alone. Besides Sky he can only rely on Musa she hasn’t betrayed him like everyone else has.

Musa gets off him and grabs his long sleeve hooded shirt he wears to train. He watches as she puts it on. “I’m going to need that back. Silva is picky about the specialist dress code.”

She chuckles as she bends down and pecks him on the lips,”Then I should go grab your vest in the main room.” He chuckles as he stretches and rolls onto his back looking up at the ceiling.

Musa picks up both vests and as she is going back to her room Terra and Stella come through the door. They both look the mind fairy up and down Stella raises an eyebrow but doesn’t say anything just goes to her room. Terra on the other hand questions it. “What are you wearing?”

She looks down at Riven’s shirt on her she doesn’t have pants on either she did put a black bra and panties on. “Silva finally gave me a specialist uniform it’s a little big I’ll have to ask him for a new one.”

Terra starts heading to her and Musa’s room but Musa says loudly. “Terra! Flora wanted to show you something I think she’s in her room.”

One last glance at her roommate Terra heads to Flora and Stellas’s room. Musa rushes to her room and finds Riven standing near the closet with only his pants and shoes on. Musa taking his shirt off throwing it at him as she goes over to the window and opens it. “You have got to be kidding me.”

As she pulls on a pair of leggings she tells him. “Do you want to explain this to Terra when she sees you leaving. I know I don’t want to hear or feel the disgust that you have been in her room she doesn’t even like you in the greenhouse or talking to her friends let alone dating one.”

Riven rolls his eyes and shakes his head this is ridiculous Terra’s hatred of him is interfering with his relationship. He doesn’t like her either but still he would rather walk out the front door instead of scaling the side of the building to get down. He gets half out of the window and looks back at Musa who is watching the door. “Come here.”

Musa goes over to him and he pulls her closer to him and cups her cheek as he leaves one last kiss on her lips she deepens the kiss putting her arms around his neck pulling him closer making him chuckle in the kiss.

The sound of the doorknob interrupts them and he quickly tells her. “My room next time.” Then he’s gone. Terra comes in and notices the window open, Musa smiling and touching her lips, but she also sees the bracelets on Musa’s arms.

“Oh my god Musa Riven is making you wear those bracelet, he is a terrible person why do you even train with him?”

Musa grabs a sweatshirt putting it on. “Riven is not making me do anything, he’s not as terrible as you make him out to be. Silva wants me to wear these during training so I don’t have an unfair advantage against my partner.” Which is a lie Musa wanted to wear them Riven got them for her but it was her idea.

Before Terra can voice another option Musa says. “I’m going to go train.”

When she left the suite she was going to walk around but she found herself at the wall outside her room. “Wow your slow should you really be teaching me to be a specialist. No offense.”

He jumps down off the wall and towers over her. He leans down to tell her. “ I’m sure no other specialist will give you the same special treatment you require no offense.”

She laughs and pushes his shoulder. He adds. “Plus there was no urgency to climbing down that wall, now if I was climbing up the wall…”Riven raises his eyebrows teasingly she looks impressed and raises an eyebrow.

Connie’s heartfelt admission to Jean seems to have stolen the hearts of the plurality of responders (36%). Connie telling Sasha and Jean that they're special to him made my heart hurt knowing what was going to happen mere minutes after. I honestly saw me and my two best friends through them, and it was gut wrenching seeing Connie and Jean's reactions. Even Mikasa's reaction broke me, to be honest. They all lost a huge light in their lives.

Thanks to the 222 who were good sports and responded anyway! :P The most shocking moments that took place in this chapter/episode was the revelation that Eren went rogue from the Survey Corps, that Zeke was collaborating with the Survey Corps, how the Survey Corps treated Eren, and that some Paradisians seemed to be turning to nationalism, in that order.

Sasha’s death elicited various reactions from the main cast. Two different responses tied at 36.4% noting Connie and Mikasa’s reactions to Sasha's death as the one affecting them the most. This was followed by Eren’s at 13.2%. The rest were, in order, Armin, Jean, Levi and Hange. 

I don’t cry at fiction much, but Sasha’s death got me more than I thought it would. I feel like seeing Armin and Mikasa’s reactions in particular is what got me.

The way they animated Armin and Mikasa bawling over Sasha's body and the inclusion of Call Your Name made it all the more emotional. I think by "Assassin's Bullet" they also meant a bullet through my heart because man did that hurt to watch. 😭🤧

OVERALL, HOW WELL DO YOU THINK MAPPA ADAPTED THE MARLEY ARC? 251 Responses

In spite of the relatively vocal complaints about the adaptation of certain elements of the Marley Arc, it would appear that the overwhelming majority of responders seemed pleased with it, with 51.4% giving it 5 and 37.1% giving it a 4. 1s not present. 

I've been a bit bothered how Mappa follows the Manga like a slave, using the panels as scenes and not adding anything in between. Sure it works for Manga, but it feels weird to me to watch in Anime how Eren grabs Armins hand and they don't give a transition where Armin pulls him in, but just show him inside the airship next. Just little things, but bothers me a bit. Overall I'm really enjoying their choices.

The show looks BETTER

I was fine with the episode. The quality of animation dropped but I understand that every scene cannot be animated on highest level. MAPPA has done a great job with the Marley arc. They shown the character development and bonds between the warriors perfectly. We had some cuts here and there but overally was okay: 8/10 for me. 

I’m so pleased that MAPPA has taken the anime. I’m still more of a fan of this particular series’ manga than anime though.

DID SASHA’S DEATH AFFECT YOU MORE WHEN YOU READ THE MANGA, OR SEEING IT ANIMATED WITH VOICES AND MUSIC? 249 Responses

As noted above, Sasha’s death seemed to be a hard hitter for most. Comparison of the adaptation vs the original allows to discern which hit the readers/watchers the hardest. Just one percent shy of a majority (49%) thought that the anime made it much more tragic. 30.9% noted that the impact was roughly similar across both mediums. On the flip side, 10.4% thought that the initial depiction of it in the manga was the hardest hitter. There were also a couple of write-ins. 

I dont remember I sped run reading the manga, kinda regretting it

I knew it for the first time in the manga, so it had a more powerful impact (I cried for a whole week. Not kidding) and the anime managed to make me cry as hard as in the manga. Though, I already was aware and grieved so it wasn't as bad

Got Spoiled :( so kinda meh, saw it coming

When the music kicked in after Connie announced she was gone, my heart broke into a million pieces. 

Let's be honest, Sasha's role was over after she killed the titan in the village and saved Kaya. After that she was just there. She got zero development, zero important moments, zero depth. Her death effected many characters and helped them to develop. Sasha's death was sad but at least brought some important changes in others. 

Not a Sasha fan so I was not really that affected but having a death in the series always feels sour

I think for me, they're both even.....mostly. There's just something about having been waiting for the chapter leaks on reddit with a bunch of other people and most of us collectively grieving at the same time. Once bigger pages of the chapter started coming out, it made me cry. I didn't even cry during serumbowl when I first read it and that had plenty for me to be even more upset about.

Honestly while reading manga I hated that Sasha’s last word was „meat”, it seemed so ridiculous. I’m happy MAPPA made it look more serious with music. Actually everyone’s reaction for Sasha’s death had more impact on me than the death itself

HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU SAW GABI KILL SASHA IN THE MANGA? AND HOW DO YOU FEEL SEEING IT AGAIN NOW, KNOWING HOW GABI’S ARC DEVELOPS? 247 Responses

Gabi is perhaps the most controversial character introduced post-time skip. Whether you’re a proud member of the Gabi Gang, proud hater of the 12 year old or just a neural party, everyone can admit that. With Sasha’s death at her hands, many seemed to offer up their opinion on the kid, back then and now. A slight plurality, 31.2%, stated that they did not hate her back when 105 first released and they don’t hate her now. 23.1% note that although they were rather upset with her back down, they are not (upset/angry) any longer. On the flipside, 25.5% state that they still hate the kid, as they did back then. Finally, some were simply neutral. Classic. 

Quite a few write-ins, as well.

I hated her in the manga but after watching the anime, I’m not happy about it but I understand why she did what she did and don’t hate her as much anymore.

I was extremely upset about it before and am still extremely upset about it now, but for different reasons. I hate her less but am not any less annoyed by her brainwashed hatred of the Paradisians, although I understand her much better and realize and empathize that she's just a kid who's been used by her country in the worst way.

I feel tired of Gabi hate. I disliked her in the manga back then but now I feel neutral towards her, because she has changed. Yet, I wish she took less screentime.

Yes, I know she killed a Paradise character which was present in series since its beginning and I understand Sasha's fans are upset Sasha is not here anymore because of her. but those people do not analyse Gabe as they should be. Every character belongs to a different side and each side is blinded by what heir belives in. It is okay to not like Gabe but I don't tolerate hate on her. I THINK THIS QUESTION SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AT ALL.

Initial hate, understanding after some thought

I liked her much more than I like her now. She was a much better character back then, her killing Sasha (a one-note comedic relief) was cool and brought some spice to the story. Now she just exists to spout themes and convenient exposition and to be an aimbot

MAPPA ADDED AN EXTENDED SCENE OF FLOCH AND OTHER SURVEY CORPS RECRUITS BEATING GABI AND FALCO. HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT IT? 240 Responses

MAPPA added an extra scene of Floch and Friends raining down copious amounts of gratuitous violence upon two 12 year olds (MAPPA is pro-child violence???????? Find out when 111 is adapted). 48.8% seemed to think that it was a decent addition, even if just for the SC’s characterization (or perhaps you enjoyed seeing that?). 22.5% thought it was a bit over the top to feature. Finally, 16.7% did not care. 

I didn't like it. But, it was def a believable reaction from them.

A nice addition 

I thought it was a great choice to highlight the continuing violence and feelings of vengeance from both sides even more. and I thought it contrasted really well with Jean's decision not to throw the kids out of the airship.

It was an IC scene for people like Floch + I feel bad for the kids

The way they shot that scene made the recruits seem like mindless, gross-faced animals storming towards the kids to beat them up. I liked how they were dehumanised like that, considering that most faces amongst them belonged to the ones who support the rumbling. 

It hurt to see that but good scene though

I can see why they did it. MAPPA's not dumb and I'm sure they anticipated a massive onslaught on hate towards Gabi specifically, so it was their way of trying to satisfy the haters. Falco didn't deserve it tho.

I hate Gabi too but that was too much beating up a child, yet it also showed how shit Floch and the others are.

Apparently some people never noticed that Gabi and Falco got beat up, probably because it happened in the background. So it was good for MAPPA to call attention to it.

The reveal that ZOOK has been working against Marley for years on end is one of the most important ones in the series, really. So it was important to have it be executed in a rather decent manner. The vast majority of the fandom thought that MAPPA did a fine job. 52.1% gave it a rating of 4, 27.5% gave it a 5 and 17.1% gave it a 3. The couple of the other respnders gave it a 2, with no 1s.

The manner in which the Season will end is a mystery to even the manga readers. Where will it end? Will it have many cuts? These are the questions. 36.6% seem to think that MAPPA will somehow manage to both end it at Chapter 122 and cut as little as possible. 26.5% don't believe ending on 122 is possible. 12.2% do believe MAPPA will end the Season on 122, but only with many notable cuts. The is no way they're making it up to 122, at first I thought they were going to finish it off with Eren's head getting blown off in 119, but now that seems like a reach too. Now I think MAPPA is probably going to end this first half of the season with Eren and Pieck's "where is the enemy?" and the warriors arriving to Shiganshina 

I’m not sure right now so I’ll have to see for later episodes for the cut-off point, if it isn’t the Rumbling then it’ll be when Gabi shoots Eren

I'm conflicted. I'm sure they'll end at rumbling because it's the only reasonable point to cut it, but I feel like they're running out of episodes. Then again I'm feeling the same about the state of Manga, there's just too little chapters left to end things up well.

I don't really want to think too much about it, I just want to enjoy the anime lol

What was the point of rushing Reiner's chapters if you are going to slow down later. Goddamn it MAPPA. 

It'll really depend on the pacing for the next couple episodes, but I'm with a bulk of the fandom that see Chapter 119 Two Brothers being the end point for The Final Season. IF they were to skip the opening and maybe the ending, I can see them transitioning from Eren's head getting blown off immediately into his transformation and the beginning of the Rumbling. But even that is quite farfetched. 

I have no idea, I'm a little worried now. Wouldn't be the first time a lot of content gets cut but if they insist on reaching ch. 122, I just don't see how you do that without butchering a lot. If that happens, it would probably lessen my enjoyment of the season.

Yeah, I think it will have a lot of cuts, but I believe that it will get there because Ymir falling in the tree was in the trailer

It still baffles me just how much people insist on hating Gabi, especially when her arc has shown tremendous growth in the manga. Reiner was no better than her when he was a child and continued to insist that Paradisians are devils and chose to further destroy their lives even after sleeping under the same roof as the 104th for 3 whole years and forming personal bonds with them. Yet, his actions are forgivable but Gabi's are not? Both characters have shown remorse for their former beliefs and misdeeds against Paradisians. Both realized that they were in the wrong. The characters have forgiven Gabi. Why can't y'all do the same? People who want Gabi to suffer are no better than they accuse her of being.

I really appreciate Gabi as a character. She has spunk and a strong character arc in which she changes and grows more than anyone in the last 30 chapters of the manga, save maybe Mikasa (ignoring how Eren, Reiner, Armin and maybe a few others changed during the timeskip). It makes me sad seeing people wishing for her to die and praising Floch and the others for kicking her.

No development has made me stop hating Gabi. The wound of Sasha's death will ALWAYS overshadow any crocodile tears Gabi may cry.

Kudos to Jean's and Connie's voice actors. Emotions were so raw and natural.

I didn't felt anything when Sasha died. Even the first time, in the manga. She hasn't enough personnality for me to care. Erwin and Bertolt's death were more saddening for me. Stop hating Gabi. She was in grief and she did what Marley brainwashed her to. And Sasha killed people right in front of her, so…

1 chapter was too little to be adapted for an episode, you could tell some scenes were stretched to fit the runtime

The music they chose for the scene of Sasha passing was also the same music they used when the Survey Corps first donned their capes and Eren found out Marco was dead... man, that song is gonna hit harder than ever now

It didn’t help with the overwhelming amount of hate Gabi is getting. I hope Mappa does her justice because she’s a great character but the Anime only seem to hate her because its a “funny” “popular” thing but it really isn’t... shows who really is paying attention to the story and the people who are watching it because it’s popular and trendy 

People who are hating on Gabi do not understand the themes portrayed in AoT

Pretty solid overall. Wonderful bits of animation such as the ODM bits and the solid character acting from Sasha going down, Mikasa and Armin is distress, personal highlight being Gabi's reload animation. Good ost choices, nice addition of Samuel and Daz to foreshadow their conflict later on in the story, and great work from Connie, Gabi and Eren's VAs.

Friendly reminder that just because we hate Gabi does NOT mean we don't "understand" the story or themes. We just don't care because Gabi is a bad character.

U mad at Gabi for what she did ? Did she kill Potato girl for no reason? Imgine a kid, at least 3 years younger than the 104th, made fighting on WARS and praised for it, brainwashed by Marley that Paradisians are devils, and these devils came in her home, killing her friends and this WOMAN killed in front of her eyes two people who tried to protect her. Hey Gabiatans: as long as you're not threatening the VA or other RL p olle, it's PERFECTLY fine to hate Gabi. Period. We don't have to like her, and it's not like we don't "understand" her just because we hate her. I "understand" a lot of Germans were forcibly coerced into joining the Nazi regime, but I don't have to pity then for any consequences that came for them.

I was surprised that Mikasa and Armin crying over Sasha had no voice over. I thought it was still effective but I'm not sure if I prefer it. Other than that, the character animation was amazing this episode. Gabi's hands as she reloaded the rifle and Armin crying were my favorites. Overall, everything was pretty perfect and I love it when a chapter gets adapted in full with basically no cuts. One of the best episodes in the series and a proper send off for Sasha.

Wonderfully done episode! They truly did Gabi and Falco's perspectives justice. Also, seeing Eren's expressions and reactions in animated format was clarifying and super well done, too!
