Some observations about the latest One Piece chapter I can't get out of my head so will post.. somewhere. Spoilers ahead for One Piece Chapter 1092.
So, Kizaru, which translates to YELLOW MONKEY, has not laughed since his introduction. He was silly enough, so of course there's no reason to raise eyebrows... but then this chapter hits us with a signature One Piece weird laugh, and suddenly his deep depression hits us in the face. Like, it's almost a sick joke that he holds the color yellow which represents optimism and joy, while also being a monkey which are always known as the sillier of animals.
Ironically, yellow monkey would probably be what Luffy's Admiral name would be. Though... I say ironically... this isn't the first time someone has had Luffy characteristics that ended up being sad shells of who they formerly were.
Big Mom, during her moment of amnesia showed just how kind and Luffy like she could've been. I remember finding the amnesia gag kind of weird, but then it became haunting the moment she regained her memories and became cynical and crude. What's even more haunting was seeing how skinny she was in her prime, since it clicked to me that her hunger cravings at some point were not as crippling as they were as a child and in her elder years.
What I'm saying is that this age has been breaking people. Hell, even Akainu/Sakazuki, a clear heel character that is not meant to be liked, is breaking under this world... and it is fascinating. I enjoy characters that I hate as people but enjoy learning more about them in a more complex way.
I just love these pure character moments we've been getting, and I can't wait to see more.

Kuma Wrecks the Celestial Dragons, and its Awesome!
I knew that Luffy was going to go #GearFifth to fight Kizaru at some point, but I didn't expect it to be connected to the giant robot! I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do in the coming chapters of #OnePiece what a time to be a fan!!!

Bonney, Bonney, Bonney...BONNEY!!! Your role in this feels like it was planned. Yesterday was about fun with Robonosuke. It's fun to talk about the potential off-ramps that come up. Today is taking stock on Bonney, someone we've always figured was a potential reason this thread of Wano was building too. Now, obviously I'd add you still gotta explain Sento/Stussy and how often they're paired as well as Kizaru doubling down with the maudlin demeanor over what he has to do here. But Bonney is still super interesting in her own right.
We haven't really given this part its due. The scene with Sabaody and Zoro. Quick thinking to rein him in, acting to smooth it over, and really dressing him down after. In hindsight this is a pretty big deal. I think a lot about this "Distorted Future" idea she introduced. Oh, and I messed up yesterday. "Age Skewer," Kizaru was dodging the thing where she knocked Vegapunk's age jewels out. Here's the thing...an author like Oda is smart enough to know you don't play with time lightly. But now I'm starting to see this was smartly set up. Kuma and Cindry, Bonney & Izo dipping into similar territory in Sabaody/Marineford, Kiku's picking up playing with time. And now come to think of it, we're doing the "after the fact" bit with Bonney and the night in the lab.
Kiku's shtick, we know some kind of change of heart happened but haven't fleshed it out. And you know, if you wanna talk theories we don't know what Bonney's fruit is. Inheriting those powers is a theme we've toyed with. Did we learn the full extent of Toki's power? I don't know how I feel about it, but I can see the idea sending people forward or her seeming ability to predict the future was the Awakening. Whatever this is about, it's so fun to watch come together. This is a deep, important thread that wound together under people's noses for over a decade.

Full post about 1106 is on the way, though I want to quickly look at some interesting details about Robonosuke, and any potential significance in the differences in sound effects between chapters 1092 and 1106.
In 1092, it seems that the eyes are lighting up, though there is no indication of movement.
Then in 1106, the eyes seem to already be lit up, possibly still from last time? And 1106 has a "creak," and vibration lines around the Robot, where 1092 does not, making it seem that Robonosuke is beginning to move this time.
